Re-Pumpkinhead 🏚️

My take on Pumpkinhead from the 1988 film. A vengeful demon that grows out of a pumpkin patch, a fun design and a phenomenal suit. That being said I wanted to take a shot at pushing the design further, keeping as much of the original intact as possible, especially its snarl, the malice and the shoulders. Bulking it out to take its silhouette away from the Xenomorph look, emphasizing roots and stems in its extremities and basing its palette off blue, white and orange pumpkins. Day 8: Make a board of a media that makes you dysphoric

I’m unsure if it’s dysphoria or envy. When I watch the alien movies, I just look at the xenomorphs and suddenly feel disappointed with myself. Their fast movements, tails, swimming abilities, and general body type makes me feel unhappy with myself. I wish I could be more like them, but I can’t. Believe me I truly love the movies, but I can’t help but feel envious of the xenomorphs. I just wish I could be one of them.

Apologies if this doesn’t fit the prompt, this was my interpretation.

Hi y’all!! Because people have been sharing their alien series OCs recently, I decided to share mine!!

I will say I don’t have a whole lot developed for her, at least in terms of a storyline, but I can tell you a lot about her anyway (as well as provide some art and a couple moodboards)!

To begin, her name is Calypso Warner and Calypso goes by she/her pronouns. She’s twenty-nine-thirty years old, and the pilot on the USCSS Daedalus. She’s 5’7” in height, goes by “Cal” only around close friends and family, and is a lesbian. Calypso personality wise is very patient yet practical. She can be polite, although a bit reserved when someone first meets her—it seems almost like she’s “detached”, even though she’s not. She begins a relationship with another crew member on the Daedalus named Sidney, who’s an engineer. (Sidney belongs to my friend Quill!)

Sidney is a bit of a loner in general. She’s very nomadic, going from ship to ship constantly when working. It’s hard for her to make attachments because they’re just brief romantic escapades. She can also be very blunt and carefree, besides her transient nature. Despite this, she fell for Calypso anyway. She never expected their bond to really be that strong, but she knew after surviving this mission with Calypso that she only wanted to be with her. Calypso was perfectly okay with that. She also had feelings for Sidney as well.

It’s 2132-2133. The crew is just like your average cargo crew, they’re not really out there to research anything, just carry cargo. that is, until they get a signal from a nearby ship on a different planet. The other ship is requesting assistance from someone who is supposedly injured (according to their science officer) and trying to find a way home. Calypso, of course, is a bit reluctant on the idea, it doesn’t feel practical—but she decides (after being peer pressured by the science officer 👀) maybe it is a good idea to help or at least try to do something. Unfortunately, what that crew doesn’t know, is that the place is infested with Xenomorphs. Now, they have to try and find a way out to survive. (This storyline could change)

in search of honor is going to be a mandalorian / alien vs. predator crossover! reader is one of the sacrifices and din is one of the 'predators' partaking in the coming of age / swearing of the creed hunt for the xenomorphs. i've adapted the mandalorian culture a bit to make it work but here is a little snippet for you and a little moodboard too ♡

Designs that popped out to me:

Jean Jacket has always been interesting to me, as when compressed it looks like very solid but when they are in their threatening form they seem to feel more like silk and vulnerable in other ways. Orcatnip’s Ocira design reminds me of similar applications like Jean Jacket but instead of being a top predator, they have the cute factor.

The others have attributes that I may want to add to my own alien designs in the future. Though I also found them interesting as the main alien species in the Marble Sky series, they don't have eyes like us. Instead, whatever objects in their vicinity reflect off their "eyes," and then that information is told to the rest of the group around. (Known to work like an ant society, according to Oscar).

Inspiration [Alien Moodboard]

On Tuesday I had finished my project completely so I didn't have much inspiration for art that day. I also didn't know what we were getting into with the new project so I couldn't forward plan or research. Josh gave me a small insight and told me to research some aliens.

Using the same website I did before I created an Alien moodboard.

Using the movies I know, I added some basics. Xenomorphs (both a normal one and the Queen) and some variations of the Predator were my first choices. I found some artwork as well for alien concepts like a blue cat-like original species. I then found art for Na'vi and another artwork based on a version of a Zelosian which are plant people from Star Wars. Never seen on screen but still canon. Then I added an Ewok (Best Star Wars alien.) and one of the aliens from the beginning of The Fifth Element to add a mechanical aspect.

I added a lot of different alien/freaky species that I knew to inspire myself for my alien design because I was really stumped. I added the monster from the game Still Wakes the Deep as inspiration for an Eldritch Horror type alien. Then after some ideas from Josh, I also added The Thing (both the good one and the 2011 one) for some ideas on body horror aliens. To fuel my own inspiration I added art of many SCPs that I knew of. SCPs are aliens in their own way and I like the fandom so it gave me a lot of inspiration. Also I added E.T, somehow I forgot he existed.

After making this moodboard Josh gave me a lot of Alien movie ideas to watch for inspiration. I had already seen The Thing but I'll watch it again cause it's fun. A lot of them I haven't heard of so it'll be good to watch things with a fresh prespective. Maybe they'll be good inspiration for my alien later on. Personally, I'm more excited to create my alien over the spaceship. Maybe that'll change once I actually have to draw the alien though haha.
