Keep getting confused now because when I open my apps sidebar on my phone the X app is right next to the Xfinity app and they look the same to me
#txt#I have “X” but never use it.#And I have the Xfi app because of my fucking wifi catastrophe that happened recently#I was trying to check the router settings but apparently Xfinity thinks I'm too stupid to understand what those mean & refuses to show them#and I *WOULD* check the settings on my laptop....... IF IT HAD WIFI

We are fucking BACK baby we're not just by the line we're ON it 😤 so nice to have internet that doesn't drop every 10 seconds
This internet provider associate lady I’m on the phone with is very sweet but she keeps calling me Miss Brown and that is NOT my name lmfao
#i've been putting off buying a new modem/router but I couldn't deal with it anymore#resorted to buying a $10/mo xfinity hotspot because it was so annoying to reconnect#hilarious that i survived pre internet but now I'm huffing and puffing about not having world wide web access 24/7

Oh lord, I have been forced to deal with comcast/xfinity support.
I got a text asking me to review the tech support they recently provided. I have received no tech support. So I logged in to my account and found that my last name had been change, and second address had been added to my account and made the default address, and my bill had gone up by $170 due to the addition of various TV services and a modem/router rental.
Y'all, I have my own modem/router, and don't even own a TV.
So I go in circles with their chat AI until it lets me talk to an agent. The agent, to their credit, has not tried to sell me on any additional services (yet), and says they'll fix it.
After confirming my proper name, address and account number, they're like "well I see you're the only person at your service address, so don't worry about it."
Sir, why am I seeing a stranger's information as the default for my customer account? How am I supposed to ignore this extra $170 for an account that I currently have set to autopay?
Here's the thing, though... I can't get into my own account without 2FA. I can see two separate account numbers under my customer login. It is looking to me like maybe a comcast agent is the one who fucked up (my comcast email is my first name @comcast.net and this stranger appears to have the same first name as me). I think they set up a new customer and added them to my login.
Now the agent is telling me that they can't remove this other account but somebody will call me back. And I shouldn't worry about the $170 in television services and device rental because it's due to a promotion running out.
Sir. SIR.
I am being so polite, y'all. But this will not slide.

talking with xfinity tech support getting nowhere because i know more than the agent and am literally teaching them what's wrong and to get me to someone that has the power to fix it. my issue is that the router gateway from their supplied router locks "advanced" settings like Port Forwarding and DMZ stuff behind the mobile app, but trying to access these settings from the phone app only gives an error so they're impossible to edit. researching this issue and apparently for 3 years there's been just a fucking dumbass issue where NOBODY can access their advanced settings because the app is broken and the only solution is to beg the AI chatbot to give you an in-app redirect to the page instead of using the UI (an authentication error i assume the chatbot provides a workaround for?) which doesn't work anymore.
i just bought a whole new fucking router so i don't have to use their proprietary software that doesn't work. massive pain in the ass to be a network engineer that explains to tech support how their own shit is broken and have to constantly remind them when they repeat the steps you've told them you've already done 6 times over. like please i get you have a script but save me the trouble and just say you aren't equipped to deal with the problem their company created and forward me to some other inept support department lol

my sister and I are moving this week. I have scheduled an IKEA delivery for a bed frame, mattress, dresser, comfy chair, desk, and desk chair (I either don't have these things currently or they are in very bad shape because I got them from a previous tenant several apartments ago) this thursday, which I have taken off work. we went to IKEA a few weeks ago and tested everything out. then friday after work I will bring over the cats and sleep over. movers will bring everything else saturday and the cats will be shut in the dining room. I have already brought over some bedding and most of my yarn, bought a standing clothes rack and set it up because my closet doesn't have a bar, bought new cat litter boxes and set them up, bought cleaning supplies and a new mop, and cleaned the floors (all hardwood) and bathroom--it was NOT left move in ready. I ordered a new modem and router because our wifi is currently going out several times a day, often several times an hour. my sister hired movers, has been packing up the kitchen, scheduled wifi set up, and canceled my xfinity for me.
all that is left is to switch the utilities to our names, buy renter's insurance, and set up mail forwarding. also buy new curtains and curtain rods, which is proving to be more difficult than I expected because the windows are all 63+ inches wide. and getting the cats over there will be complicated because of little baby's tendency to shit when she's scared. I have gabapentin for her though, and will probably drug both of them friday afternoon before bringing them over.
this has been sooooo expensive. I've never bought new furniture before or hired movers, or had to pay double rent because of leases not lining up. and the new apartment is bigger but has some issues (supposedly the correct number of smoke detectors will be installed before we officially move in) and is nowhere near as good as the one with the discriminatory landlord that changed his mind about our application. it is exciting getting to design my room from scratch for the first time ever, but I kind of wish we had waited a bit to sign the lease and looked at a few other places. given how expensive this was I don't want to have to move for another couple of years, but it feels like that's a bigger risk with this apartment than other ones we looked at.

Tuesday: try to get on my computer, but it won’t connect to the WiFi (my phone does, though). Tell my husband, who helps me troubleshoot a little. The modem is fine, the mesh router in the bedroom is fine (hence WiFi on phones), but the mesh router in the office is so broken it’s not even showing up in the app. Nothing we try makes any difference, so he tells me where to find the Wi-Fi dongle for my computer and says he’ll leave work early to call. He does get home early, and sits on hold for over a hour before giving up because it was dnd night.
Wednesday: I deal just fine all day again using the WiFi dongle & one working router. Husband attempts to call again and is given an estimated wait time of just over 3 hours. He says fuck that shit and when he gets home he’ll sign us up for Xfinity instead, which he does.
Thursday: wake up to no WiFi at all and honestly, I’ve already forgotten what all my husband did to troubleshoot bc, at the time of typing, I am still eating breakfast and haven’t had caffeine yet. But he said quantum is reporting no issues. None of the 3 devices were showing up in the app, but I think he reset the modem and then that showed back up? But still not either of the routers.
Sure hope the new provider’s stuff shows up today so my husband can install it tonight. This is ridiculous.
