okay ngl this ep was like rlly good??? In terms of recent eps I’d rank it between episode 16 and 15 (bc 16 was decent n 15 was peak I do not take criticism/j)

the opening was neat, any eliminated contestant content is greatly appreciated (also SAW MY BELOVED-)

Skipping over a bit, the challenge was rlly goofy (I’d expect nothing less from bottle lmao) although I have a slight fear that bottle will go power hungry or smth and kinda become the new pillow, in terms of her goofiness/spontaneous nature and stuff but she seemed fine this ep, and showed genuine concern for her team being ufe, so I think we’re good fn

also WE GOT PILLOW N YF OUT LESGOOO

I honestly didn’t rlly like either of them by the end. I could see the appeal in others liking them ig but pillow just felt counterproductive on purpose for her “research” and YF was just kinda there. He had a cool partnership w/ PT ig???? But that felt like it was 3/4 off camera w/ not much to it so I wasn’t particularly sad to see either of them leave

I liked the idea of splitting the teams up into representative groupings, and also can’t wait for the merge where we could get more interactions like the ones we got this episode

Also poor tv man the guy had such a valid crash out like honestly-

he got ditched and then got a spider mech suit thing like hell yea u tell them (i still rlly like both grassy n tree but TV was still so justified imo)

now for the 3 main things/scenes I wanted to talk about

On the other hand tho I do feel kind of bad for pencil, especially since I do kind of relate to her in terms of missing ppl or memories that have moved on (??) ig?? More on that later

I definitely don’t want either of them to go anytime soon and hopefully make it to the merge, but I think there’s a solid chance book might get out next ep ToT (VOTE BOOK BTW WE CAN SAVE HER PLEASE I AM STARVEDDD FOR BOOK CONTENT AND SHE MUGHT GET OUT SOON IN BFDIA TOO NUUUUUU)

Anyway, now that she’s been rejected by her last old ally in the game I think I want to see pencil either get fully ruthless n cutthroat with no room for ANYONE (and do this even more then before) or maybe finally open up to new allies? Idk I just want her and book to stay and see what goes down

2- ONE GOT HER SHIT ROCKED???? BY DONUT OF ALL PPL?????? LETS FUCKING GO??????? To b clear one is easily one of if not my fav algebralien but I rlly wanna c her get her ass beat that was awesome. She’s genuinely a great villain and her borderline psychotic episode w/ Donut showing how desperate she is for these deals was incredible to watch MAJOR props to sonderingemily (I believe that’s how u spell it pls forgive) for the voice acting that was so cool

this also solidifies her status as a villain even further, like it was kinda already pretty obvious, but now we see the lengths she will go to for her plan it is greatttt

I also love donut like 10x more now I already thought he was a great character but this just made him better like wow (plus he’ll hopefully stick around for longer bc of this in the event CY is ufe anytime soon yippe)

lastly, I wanna talk about the pen & pencil scene cuz that shit hit DEEP

I’m not gonna lie, pen’s words n whole situation hit hard for me personally especially when irl I’ve been dealing with some messy social stuff, working through things and emotionally processing some past events as well. I’m wishing for older times, definitely romanticizing them quite a bit but those times were still better than this. now I’m asking myself who I want to spend my time around as I grapple w/ the fact that the people I do still hang around from before have changed, some seemingly for the worse, but at the same time, they’re links to parts of my past I wish I still had, so what do I do with that? The experience of not being able to quite move on from a memory or piece of the past while others have, especially when they were closely tied to those memories before, is a very real and isolating experience that the jnj team honestly captured wonderfully in this scene, and I actually listened to just the audio after I’d finished the episode just to reflect on pen’s words in my own life. I get this is still technically ‘baby object kids show’ but honestly this episode actually felt deeper/more mature in many aspects, and this scene really tied it together for me in a very personal way that I was genuinely not expecting when I put the video on, and I think that’s good. It still had some really well done humour, but it hit home in a very piercing way for me today. I like the contrast of pencil’s near total shut out of the world while pen is @ least trying to be near others more, although you can still see him reminiscing about before, which is also smth I completely understand the duality of

also even though BAGGED is ufe I don’t have much worry of pen getting out (which I rlly don’t want him to) since he’s clearly got a pretty huge arc going atm and I want to see it keep going

closing thoughts on the ep, I liked the challenge, but the characters rlly brought it home today. The challenge brought a nice way of splitting the teams up to basically get a whole ep of cross team interactions to continue arcs that have been taking a while up until now which was rlly nice

I can’t wait to see what one will b up to as she clearly sinks into desperation w/ her deals, and now donut’s a loose canon, likely being able to spread info abt her freely

there was even more buildup to other events that will hopefully get payoffs soon, and I can’t wait for that, but that’s all from me :))

HI THIS IS RLLY RLLY RLLY LONG SO STRAP IN LOL Other Worldly is a story I've been writing for like 3ish years and it's gonna be a psychological horror comedy set in a modern fantasy world. I want it to be a video game that I'll hopefully start actually making next year hehe Gonna put a really really long-winded worldbuilding explanation below the cut but dw if you don't wanna read it it's a lot lolololol

So on Urf the terrain is a lot more than it is irl. The wildlife is essentially a lot bigger, and so are the predators. Depending on the area, humans have animalistic traits originally there to help them fend against these predators. However, this is set in modern day so humans have a lot more technology now and over the generations they've lost things like natural camouflage and such. That's why characters like Robin and Piper have unnatural skin tones and different pupils (although the pupils are hard to see bc their eyes are so short). Not all humans have remnants of the past, though! Larry and Gary's families have evolved past them so they look completely human. There's also nature spirits who are kinda personifications of things like forests and bodies of water who are there so take care of said piece of nature. They can kinda take whatever form they want and most of them stay away from humans (theres more to it but that might have to be a separate post lol). OK SO THE ISLAND was originally a piece of Urf but it was taken and lifted into the sky by two spirits named Madre and Pater who wanted to start a new society. I tend to imagine the island the size of a small town. The island itself is floating in Urf's atmosphere but is invisible to humans because it's covered by thick clouds always surrounding the planet (there is a reason for this). It was lifted way back when around the 1800's so that's the basic reference point I have for a lot of the fashion and architecture. It is flexible though since it isn't the 1800's and I imagine Pater goes to Urf frequently. Madre and Pater are treated as the gods of the island, ruling over the citizens tightly. Some people worship both equally, but many have a bias toward Pater since he's more outgoing than Madre. You might be wondering, who is living on this island??? It isn't humans, but star people. People born from stars. Tbh they can also be explained in another, longass post but to point out something important, Starborns don't have sex organs or genitals. They're regarded without gender on the island and Madre and Pater are the only ones referred to with gendered terms up there, making them divine in nature. (to overexplain it a little, being a man/woman isn't really a thing up there and is basically a status symbol to show Madre and Pater are above their citizens). TO FINALLY EXPLAIN SOME OF THE STORY, Ernest grew up heavily worshipping Madre. They're extremely loyal to her and go to her for advice a lot. They sincerely love her deeply and couldn't imagine her ever doing anything bad. So completely unrelated, she sends Ernest to Urf after Pater's mysterious death. I wonder what happened. So anyway, after falling, they meet a forest spirit named Lenore who takes them to live with Larry, her best friend. That's kiiinda where the mandatory story ends. I have a few routes planned and there is technically a canon storyline but that's just what happens until the player is set loose to have fun. SO YEA THAT'S THE BASICS OF MY STORY LOLOLOL I HAVE A LOT OF FREE TIME TO WORLDBUILD SO THERE'S A LOT HERE ALSO TYSMSMSSMSMSM FOR ASKING I GOT SO ELATED SEEING THIS ASK TYSMSMSMSSM

2nd part of lore because yes.

Now lets talk about the Forefeathers. ( Forefathers ) Yea you heard me right, bird pun! Basically these birds are like the building blocks of the rainforest, they make sure the forest is in good condition and they assign roles to keep it that way. They are descendants from the original flock that made the forest itself. These birds made the forest with their bare feathers and bare feathers ALONE. ( a bunch of god stuff that i don't wanna go into full detail about:) ) The Forefeathers still kinda have that forest building energy but its not as strong as hundreds of years passed. They live in certain outposts in the rainforest, kinda isolating themselves from others. Anyway apart from that, back to the Corvid Copse deal. With that parasite basically destroying their home, they had no choice but to abandon their outpost to other ones for safety. Most outposts wouldn't take them in because of they didn't wanna get infected. These poor birds were kinda stuck in a loophole that wasn't rlly their fault. with word spreading quickly around the forest, one of the Forefeathers (Cualli ) realized something had to be done. They couldn't go back to their home ( unless they wanted to die ) and they also couldn't be stuck with no place to go.

I'm slowly losing motivation so just have some bullet points to kinda explain it better:)

. Cualli calls a meeting with the other Forefeathers to put the corvids in a better place/home

.They decide to use the rest of their energy to create a certain stick that can make another section of the forest if you put it in the ground ( its basically their new home )

. Some yelling interupts the gathering and they leave to check it out, still leaving the stick behind

. A Quetzal overhears this whole thing and decides to steal the stick for himself ( his name is Akerian )

. When the Forefeathers come back they realize the stick has been stolen, and they try to track the bird down

. Akerian realizes that he's being trailed so he decides to bury the stick under a tree, and will come back for it later

. But that doesn't go according to his plan when the tree grew 20x its size creating a bunch of attention for the outpost nearby... ( this tree's even bigger than a redwood btw... )

. A young kingfisher saw this whole thing unfold and told the outpost head ( leader ) what just kinda went down

Basically what happened after this is that he was believed to be a god ( or one of the forefeathers offspring ) and he kinda plays along saying that he made that tree for the forest and he only wants whats best for them. They obviously believe him, and he becomes the new head. ( he kinda uses this new title to kinda hide from the forefeathers to stay hidden... )

> FAST FORWARD < ( like 5 years )

. With the Forefeathers plan kinda backfiring, a tree vote had been casted to the rainforest kinda finally deciding what that tree would be used for

. With the majority vote for the tree use being a school, construction was started ( with woodpeckers doing most of it )

. Every outpost whether they liked it or not they had to at least have one corvid in their household/nest because y-know THEIR PLAN FAILED:(

. The corvids are kinda treated like outcasts at school because of the whole thing anyway? ( IT WASN'T EVEN THEIR FAULT )

. Oh yeah also the schools name is T.R.E.E hehe:) ( The Reason Education Exists ) because IT KINDA IS!?!?!??!?!? I mean for the rainforest anyway...

The Forefeathers never knew who stole the stick...

But little do they know this was ALL Akerians fault:)

now montreal......we stayed here the longest how should I break this up hmm. let's start with brunch this smoothie bowl is soooo fucked T_T like idk if u can tell but it was watery soup consistency my milkshake was thicker lolol. this random unlabeled bread loaf my mom got at a marketplace or something was soooo good I think it's sourdough with cranberries and sunflower seeds :DD it would be rlly good with goat cheese and some tea maybe. not much to say about the french toast I don't remember the place srry </3 it was good tbh all the portion sizes I got in canada are huge lol. and it's very pretty

back at our group airbnb I had chicken congee and some sort of che, I think it was canned lychee and agar jelly (matcha, coconut, coffee, butterfly pea flavored???) idk it was nice to sit on the patio and ppl watch, let my hair air dry after a shower. it was a rlly windy week T_T

ngl quebec city was kinda pmo at first it was so hot and crowded and ig it was the point in the trip where I wanted to go home. and these birds eye chili shrimp were soooo lame not even spicy. the place we stayed at was super nice though, I loveee when a spot has as many options for tea as it does coffee :DD look theres even loose leaf, but I could not find a strainer </3 also I kinda wish the containers weren't see through whatever. the cherry blossom one was very good :] then the priciest place I ate at, I got a fish fillet with cranberry compote and sliced almonds. to the left is salmon tartare, and barely visible on the right is elk or venison idkk guys whats the difference :'( not pictured bc I forgot my phone whoops but I went to a theme park of some sort and had like three different types of poutine they were alright

then finally another shameless promo back in montreal theres this spot bonjour pho :00 owned by another one of my mom's old friends hehe.
