one of my favourite examples of the uselessness of Dr Seward, now that we've met him and are "hearing" his phonograph diary (he's even more vigorously up-to-date than Jonathan with his shorthand diary), is that later on when Mina has the excellent idea of collating all their diaries, letters and notes to check for patterns and see if there's anything important they may have overlooked (and maybe publish it as a novel one day), it turns out that he's just been recording onto cylinders without any system of labelling or organising their contents, and can't actually locate any particular entry, and Mina has to transcribe his whole high-tech audio diary with her typewriter to make any use of it.

In conclusion, Jack Seward would have bought a Juicero.
