The Odyssey but Odysseus died at Troy. Yet his drive to see his wife and son was strong enough for him to lift his rotting limbs. He stumbles around - a corpse should not move. He has only one goal in mind: Ithaca, Penelope, Telemachus. His body is weak and frail, it constantly collapses and fails him. His body wants to return to the earth. He should be in the ground right now, his body grass and moss. But his mind lives, and he lifts his body off the ground no matter how long it takes him. His mind and body are divided, both long for their own goals. He makes no sound but a whisper: "Ithaca. Penelope. Telemachus." He doesn't remember where his home is. But he keeps whispering. People hear him. He can't talk, can't think anything except those three. They will ask him, "Who are you?". He can only give them a glassy stare, haunted and utterly wrong. It's not natural. He only murmurs "Ithaca. Penelope. Telemachus." and glances away, before dragging himself away. He has no name, at least not one he can remember. His mind consists only of those three thoughts. They think him a mad man. No one recognizes him as the king of Ithaca, his face sunken and destroyed. Even if someone did recognize him, well - Odysseus died at Troy, after all. They try to capture him, but no one dares approach that walking mass of rot and blood. They try to kill him. Arrows tear through the remaining muscle. Spear tips poke out of his ribs. He will collapse on the ground, they will think he died. But it's only his body. They cannot kill what's already dead. So he will push himself up - moments, hours, days or weeks later. And he stumbles on. And he whispers. He can't hear or register any words that people speak. He will only turn his head when he hears someone say Ithaca, Penelope, Telemachus. He follows those whispers. They get more frequent, until everyone around him is saying those three words sacred to him. Until his thoughts materialize before him.

Okay so now I have two endings:

1. A bit of his mind gives away when he reaches Ithaca, when he kisses her shores. Another fragment is gone when he holds his son in his arms, when he kisses him. He sees the suitors, 108 men trying to get their hands on his wife. On his Penelope. It's enough to make him think straight, at least for a bit. He wants to kill them right then and there. But Telemachus stops him, he has to restrain him. Odysseus obeys. It's easy to put something so breakable and weak under control. But he only thinks of suitors' blood. And eventually, they shed it. Odysseus is like a beast, death itself casting doom upon anyone his sunken eyes land on. And finally, he sees Penelope. His mind gives way when he is in her arms again, when he kisses her. His mind has no thoughts anymore, he reached his goal. There's nothing to hold his body upright anymore. No goal to reach - well, except one. One he should've reached on the beaches of Troy, a decade ago. Death. He finally dies the next morning, going still in their olive bed.

2. He is slow. His body is weak, he trips everytime his toes touch the ground. He is slow, but it's okay. He doesn't have to stop, he has no physical needs to meet, except the one of his mind. Not his heart, that one has been dead for a while now. And he follows the words of others, echoes of his own whispers. And he reaches Ithaca, eventually. But the people are different. They wear different clothes, they speak a different language. No one says those three words. It should have been obvious, the way those names slowly faded as he went from city to city, land to land. He was slow, too slow. Penelope and Telemachus are gone now. They have been dead for who knows how long. But his mind's needs are not met, the drive is still there. So he wanders the lands, searching for something long gone - always whispering under his breath.

I'm very fond of both endings aughh, I'll need to write this down sometime.

Another version is where Odysseus' personality and mind have been slowly chipped away over the course of his journey until he became nothing but the embodient of his drive to see his wife and son. His body is forgotten, thin and torn. He is dead. Perhaps he is not. It's hard to tell at this point. When does a man die - is it when his heart stops beating and blood stops rushing in his veins, or when his mind is gone? (probably would get the first ending).

A disclaimer about one of the Round 3 options: So Maggie effed up, lmao. When you have an odd number of choices for a bracket, you're supposed to give the highest ranking seeds a bye-round, which I did for the highest ranking seed! 😭 However, you're also supposed to take out as many as you need to get the first round to the closest power of two, which I didn't realize. Since Abbott has 35 episodes, for instance, the closest power of 2 would be 32, which means that three episodes needed to have a bye-week for the tournament to shake out perfectly. This means for this round, one of the polls unfortunately has a three episode option. However, after that, we'll be back on track for a smooth finish! Sorry for the mess-up!!

Beware! Long post, many stats.

The three biggest landslides were This Is Halloween (87.93%, 306 to 42 votes), I Put A Spell On You (88.24%, 105 to 14 votes), and The Monster Mash (93.3%, 195 to 14 votes).

The three closest matches were The Headless Horseman beating Were-Cow (51.35%, 114 to 108 votes), It Was a Dark and Stormy Night beating Oh My Goth! (50.27%, 93 to 92 votes), and The Number Of The Beast beating Raised by Bats (50.25%, 101 to 102 votes).

The one other Voltaire song also came relatively close to winning, but none of his songs made it to Round 2

sorry if I don't know the exact terms, but can I ask why one dog (Sigurd I believe), when pulling the sled, is off to the side instead of at the front with the other two?

Sigurd is out in front of the sled (although it can seem like he's off to the side sometimes because he has a strong preference to hugging the right hand side of any trail).

Sigurd is alone in "wheel" position like this because he doesn't do well up front and i have a small team. Additionally, Slash (the black dog) doesn't do well in wheel because he'll try and push himself too hard while trying to get ahead of the dogs in front of him. I do sometimes have him in single lead like below:

but this is a work in progress position for him as it takes a lot of training and talent for a dog to lead by themselves. This means that Zombie is my only dog who is currently flexible in the position she can be in when I have the full team on the gangline and honestly i usually need her level head and reliability up front with Slash more than i need her power behind with Sigurd (he's 108 pounds he's fine lol).

but it is also not usual for a dog to be by themselves in their position, it all depends on how they work best and what other dogs you have in team with you. When I run a two dog team I will run Sigurd up front, but this is because he's a bit closer to me and more controllable in this situation than he would be if he was up front on a bigger team.

SURPRISE! HAVE SATORI'S PETS!

I made a BUNCH of trainer cards today, and felt like posting Orin and Okuu, so yeah!

IT'S ORIN!!!!!!!

I know it's probably kinda weird for a cat to have a cat, but I REALLY feel like Orin would vibe with having a Liepard of her own. Feels kinda right.

For one thing, Lampent is a ghost/fire type and honestly, Orin is most definitely that too. More importantly, I say Orin has this due to her and Lampent kinda doing the same fucked up thing, where to go to people on their death bed and wait for them to die. Shits fucked.

Since she commands spirits, and also kinda collects and speaks with them, I like the idea of her having a Spiritomb. Notably, I REALLY like the idea of this Spiritomb being one made of 108 spirits Orin particularly became chummy with, and let her shove them into a Spiritomb. It's just a group of her buddies =D!

In Orin's lore, it is pretty explicitally said that Orin likes talking to freshly dead spirits since they don't realize they died. And for some reason, that made me think of the Mother Marowak in Pokemon Tower. So yeah. Also her and Marowak are probably bone buddies. (As in both collect bones.)

Since Mandibuzz is a scavenger, I like to think Orin has one in order to help her track down the fresh dead. She probably lets the big bird nibble on the meat of the body. Her and her Mandibuzz are also probably bone collecting buddies.

Orin is explicity shown to be able to kinda raise the dead into something Zombie like, so I thought giving her Pokemon resident Zombie Bug would be fitting. (Also for the sake of me considering her a Ghost Specialist, let's just pretend Parasect is the Bug/Ghost type it deserves to be.)

I ALSO GOT HER BUDDY (AND GIRLFRIEND) OKUU!

While I'm kinda iffy on REPRESENTING Okuu on Satori's team as a Moltres, there is not a single doubt in my mind that Okuu herself uses a Moltres! (Certain helps that the Kanto and Galar legendary birds seem more to be a really rare and powerful pokemon species rather than some crazy mythological entity like most other legendaries.)

Kinda like how Orin has a Lampent because it kinda does the same thing as her, Okuu has a Chandelure for largely the same reason! Chandelure is said to burn the spirit and body of it's victims to fuel itself, and Okuu burns bodies to run the Hell of Blazing Fires!

Torkoal is here since I KNEW I wanted Okuu to have a Drought Pokemon, but the thing is, there are only three. And of Torkoal, Groudon and Ninetales, I thought Torkoal was genuinely the most fitting for her. It's just a silly little sun setting dope like her! She 200% either got this thing from Kanako or Yatagarasu.

Honestly, Honchkrow is more so a Pokemon I believe Okuu had BEFORE becoming a living shrine to a Sun God. I imagine back when she was normal, she had this Honchkrow she either used or was at least chummy with, and it either stuck with her or just straight up joined her team once she got the powers of a Sun God.

Volcarona is here since her and it are kindred spirits. Namely in both of them being the fucking sun more or less. Like Torkoal, she got this from either Yatagarasu or Kanako. Helps her keep Hell burning.

Clawitzer is here for a couple of reasons. For one thing, part of Okuu's job is not only fueling the Hell of Blazing Fires, but also cooling it, and Clawitzer is here to help her with that. The other reason is because they're arm cannon buddies =D! (It's a Pokemon she became chummy with after getting the "third leg" (yes, that's what the arm cannon seams to be refered to as canonically), especially since I head canon her arm was amputated to put the arm cannon there.)

Honaray mentions to Coalossal, Volcanion and Walking Wake (AKA the Steam Bois) for all being contenders for Clawitzer's slot (because of the Steam released from Nuclear Power Plants), but I felt giving her an arm cannon friend would have been nicer =).

The statement definitely feels like a Fear Soup between the Spiral, the Stranger, and the Lonely each sharing a solid enough meal. It's interesting because thinking about the statement giver's perceptions of other people can be attributed to each Fear that specifically plays on the construct of "this Person is Other"

The Spiral: solipsism is the belief that only one's own mind can truly be known to exist, so Lorell's reality in the case would literally be her perception of it. Lorell is the only one who can see these zombies. She is so certain that Liam is a zombie (but from the sound of it, his reactions sound completely normal) and later, she doubts if Norma had ever been real or if the Man had taken her soul.

I also want to shout out the Extinction seasoning again in this Fear Soup! The very last thing Lorell ends her statement on is the feeling that she might very well be the only real person left in the world, where everyone else has been hollowed out and replaced by the "soulless horde".

I love TMA's take on zombies going the philosophical "brains = souls" route instead of the gory "eat brains!" route. It's so much more interesting generally just as food-for-thought but also of course as its connection to the narrative where Jon is now — wondering how human he feels, how much he's actually changed (he even makes a joke about it afterwards lol)

But he doesn’t need to worry too much about that… He still feels guilt at being alive while Tim is not and Daisy is M.I.A. He still worries about Melanie and Martin (especially Martin hehe) and hopes they are okay. He is still so soo human in all the ways that matter it Hurts ;___;

Hi. I'm a zombie.

I've been irrationally tired lately but today I was DEAD tired. I slept like 7 hours. I woke up to drive my dad somewhere, came back and fell asleep for like another hour until my cat got the zoomies.

Mom brought me lunch and I ate, still sleepy. Made my mom drive me to the gas station to get a Red Bull because I'm so tired I don't wanna drive.

Chugged that Red Bull, took my blood pressure and it was 108.

Thoughts on Ahsoka Episode 8 - The Jedi, the Witch, and the Warlord - A Discussion Post

The season finale was both action-packed and emotional, and I was certainly not expecting an ending like this. Let's look back and relive the finale!

At the beginning of the finale, the three Nightsisters tell Morgan to come forward, giving her full powers and truly making her like one of them. Her eyes turn dark and marks similar to the ones we have seen Nightsisters have on their faces appear on her own. Honestly, I loved her transformation and how she got to connect more with her magick with the support of the Nightsisters, and her new blade was pretty cool. Thrawn observed the entire scene from behind.

Inside Ahsoka's ship, Ezra works on building a new lightsaber with Huyang. As Ezra rambles through the lightsaber parts, Huyang does get a bit annoyed with things becoming unorganized. I bet if he had seen Ezra's blaster-lightsaber combo, he would lose it.

Sabine comes over and observes the situation, mentioning Kanan Jarrus. Huyang begins talking about Kanan (Caleb) and remembering how he had built his lightsaber. Ezra reminisces on Kanan as well, as after all, he was his master. Ezra uses a piece that Kanan also had on his lightsaber, Huyang remembering that Kanan used one and he had another, which Ezra took. Ezra ignites his new lightsaber, revealing a blue hue. I wonder where he got the kyber crystal from.

Sabine eventually leaves the room, and Huyang reveals to Ezra that the Empire had attacked Mandalore and killed many people, including Clan Wren. Ezra did not know about this part yet, as I felt like Sabine had kept it hidden from him, possibly not wanting to talk about it. Huyang adds on that Ahsoka felt Sabine could become dangerous after her family died if she continued her training, hence the conflicts between Ahsoka and Sabine began after Ahsoka left her. In a way, Ahsoka could have been thinking about Anakin, because she knows the importance of the people he loved to him, and if anything happened to them, he would take a dangerous turn.

Outside, Sabine reconnects with Ahsoka, talking to her about what happened. Ahsoka wants to reconcile with Sabine and continue on her training, wanting to always be there for her.

As Ezra stepped out of the ship to show the women his new lightsaber, he hears a sound he has not heard in years. TIE fighters begin attacking the group, trying to prevent them from leaving. After a tough fight with the TIEs and Sabine crashing Ahsoka's ship, the three head towards the Chimaera atop the howlers, ready for a fight.

Thrawn and Morgan get the Night Troopers ready for battle, wanting to get rid of the three and prevent them from coming onboard. Thrawn does not want to negotiate "with the apprentice of Anakin Skywalker," which I find hilarious because he knew Anakin, so he doesn't want to put up with whatever Ahsoka learned from him. Ahsoka, Ezra, and Sabine make their way towards the Imperials while being attacked, managing to get in, which annoyed Thrawn. Though, the packing is nearly done, and the Chimaera is ready to leave with the Eye of Sion.

Ahsoka, Ezra, and Sabine face many Night Troopers, managing to get rid of them before moving forward. As Thrawn is always one step ahead, he gets the Nightsisters to resurrect the troopers, as they act all zombie-like and begin the attack again.

Later on the episode, Sabine and Ezra faced off against two troopers with darker armor, and the one that had fought Sabine had part of his helmet torn off, revealing horrifying flesh under as the trooper growled and tried to strangle Sabine. These troopers reminded me of the Death Troopers book, but instead they've been possessed and potentially resurrected by Nightsister magick.

Ahsoka is face to face with Morgan once again along the path. Letting Ezra and Sabine go, she duels with Morgan. I found this fight to be pretty cool with Morgan's new blade, and Ahsoka ended up losing one of her lightsabers. I knew Morgan was going to die, but I wish we could know more about her. I really wanted to learn more about her backstory as a Nightsister.

Thrawn boards the Eye of Sion, ready to leave with the Chimaera connected to the Eye. Sabine and Ezra watch it slowly leave, needing to get onboard. Sabine manages to use the Force and get Ezra on board. She is ready to launch herself, but sees Ahsoka and decides to help her in the battle instead.

Ezra fights two troopers, managing to get ahold of one's comm. He impersonates the trooper's voice, which is totally an Ezra thing to do right there. He is on the Chimaera without Thrawn's knowledge, which makes it funnier since he can ruin Thrawn's plans again.

Ahsoka and Sabine chase the ships as fast as they can, flying into space and trying to catch up until the Eye could jump into hyperspace. Thrawn contacts Ahsoka through the comm channel, talking to her about Anakin. He says "Long live the Empire" right before jumping into hyperspace. Ezra is on the Chimaera, while Ahsoka, Sabine, and Huyang are left on Peridea.

Left with no choice, Ahsoka and Sabine return to the surface, meeting up with the Noti. They make home with them, and as the night dawns on them, Ahsoka tells Sabine that is it time to move on. I'm not sure what is going on in Ahsoka's head, but she seems very calm about this. She does mention that Ezra is now where he needs to be, which is true, but nothing's very clear to me here. Ahsoka had also seen Morai here, which was so interesting.

Both Baylan and Shin show up towards the end, as I wonder where they were during the entire battle. Thrawn had just left them both behind, making them stranded here as well. Shin ignites her lightsaber, grabbing the attention of many troopers left behind that had initially come with Morgan. She looked saddened, and she is without her master.

Baylan appears on top of a mountain that displays two characters from the Mortis Arc: the Father and the Son. This is such an interesting detail and leaves room for much more to know about Peridea, yet there wasn't any more time. First we had seen Morai, and then these statues. There's so much more we need to know!

Sadly due to Ray Stevenson's passing, we won't be able to see more of him as this character. He did so amazing with his acting, and I wish we could have gotten more. Rest in peace.

Getting back to the right galaxy, Thrawn arrives to Dathomir, the Nightsisters seeing their new home from the surface. People have said that those boxes on the ship hold corpses or dead Nightsisters, so there's definitely something going to happen if we get a second season.

Hera, Chopper, and a few others run to the back of a New Republic ship ready to fight, where an Imperial ship arrives and lands. A trooper steps out of the ship, as Chopper begins to talk to the trooper. He rolls forward to the trooper, getting a head pat. Chopper immediately recognizes Ezra, as Ezra takes his helmet off for the others to see. Hera hears the words "Hi, Hera. I'm home."

(HOW DARE WE DON'T GET TO SEE A HUG-)

At the end, Anakin shows up as a Force ghost, watching Ahsoka and Sabine. Ahsoka knows that her master will always be there for her in any way, and Anakin watches over his padawan. Gosh, I loved Hayden's appearances in this show.

Since there was only 8 episodes, there wasn't enough time to cover a whole lot sadly. I wish they had done more episodes or made episodes longer, especially the finale. There was a lot we wanted to see, like Zeb, Kallus, and a lot more. We all had this theory that Ezra and Thrawn have been in the Unknown Regions and had begun to work together to survive; though that wasn't the case at all. But we were all excited to see characters such as Jacen and Anakin! Kaz's dad, Senator Xiono, and C-3PO was definitely a surprise.

It was fun to do these discussions every episode and celebrating Ezra's return after so many years. This show really had us screaming and crying every week. I loved every actor's portrayal of each character. I hope a season 2 gets confirmed, but that may be a little difficult right now with the actors' strikes. This show was good and a lot of fun!
