hi, I just saw an ask where you said that you wouldn't mind making a tutorial on how you draw and stuff and I wanted to say that I would really appreciate a tutorial since I love your art style and would like to have a similar one but I'm really struggling, so a tutorial on how you do the general shapes and stuff, or the proportions, or anything really, would be really nice ^^

#yellowart #subnautica #i feel like the timelapse is kinda long but also this did take a long time to make #anyways. let me yap about the meanings of all the panels <3 #'i am creation' -> the ocean being the source of life and where shit evolved from also a good way to sort of 'set the scene' for subnautica #'both haunted' -> GHOST leviathan; in the BONE fields #'and holy' -> this one was a bit trickier. debated about using the emperor but i knew i wanted to use her elsewhere #also debated hoverfish because its cute and well liked so i thought that would be funny for 'and holy'#also something something jesus walking on water also makes it fitting. in the end though i decided on a peeper with the enzyme trail #and i *tried* to make it loop over its head like a halo but idk how well that imagery came through. still mentioned it in the alt text tho.#'made in glory' -> was REALLY torn about this one. on the one hand i wanted to have like a picture of the code because something something #divine machine and it being made out of code making it inherently holy or something; but i wasnt sure if that would be too #'immersion breaking' since most of the stuff in this is like in game stuff i wasnt sure if acknowledging that it was a game would be #too much. my other idea was to draw a couple of creature eggs like a stalker egg and a spadefish egg or something; but in the end i just #went with the one that i personally thought was cooler so if you think it does feel out of place uhhhh sorry i guess lmao.#also yes that is code from the game. idk shit about programming i just think code shit is cool so i poked though a modding tutorial til i #found what it is they use to look at that shit and started poking around. its pretty cool tbh. anyways the specific part i chose for the #drawing was something under the peepers; i think its the bit that tells the enzyme peepers to do the enzyme stuff like the trail obviously #but also some other stuff. not 100% sure though like i said idk shit about this sort of thing but everything in there seems pretty well #labeled its kinda impressive. and very helpful for navigating even if you dont know shit lol.#anyways. 'even the depths of the night cannot blind me' -> blood kelp trench is i think one of the darkest biomes in the game #possibly THE darkest so i thought it would be fitting. probably my least favorite panel though i dont think i did a very good job #representing the area or representing the bloodvines :/#'when you guide me' -> sea emperor but more specifically her messages to the player telling you to 'come here'#'creature only' -> not sure how well i can articulate this but basically the idea of humans beig animals with animal needs to eat and drink #and the idea of being a part of the ecosystem. modern life tends to make us forget that sort of thing but id imagine for ryley being on the #planet would violently remind him of this with things trying to eat him while he has to try to eat things as well. being part of the food #web. 'creature only' because he is only a creature not non-essential systems maintenance chief; but a creature living in an environment and #trying to survive. or something like that. does that make any fucking sense to anyone besides me? whatever.#anyways yapping over 👍

lastly this website is also another great reference source but you will have to request permission by the ppl in charge of it in order to gain access first as it's protected

this should be a good starting point and i encourage y'all continue to seek out other sources where you can👍

Did I set as homework for myself a Tutorial about How to Compose a Page/Character Sheet and the most Efficient way to Use Fonts/Text alongside it, because my Graphic Designer Side griped at me? Yes, I did.

irt 2 someone’s tags on the comic— comic-making is something that i, while tangentially interested in for a while, have no knowledge in. no professional training, no serious experience, nada. i know absolutely nothing abt panel layouts or text sizing that i have not awkwardly gleaned myself from the few comics ive read over the years.

to that end, if u have advice for comic-making or see something i’ve posted and think “hmm that could maybe be better if you did xyz” PLEASE tell me if youre so inclined! really! i’m doing this for fun, yes, but i would love to get better. as long as you’re polite about it, im basically always accepting advice/critique on my artworks, especially areas im less experienced in like comics, 3d art, and so forth

i had to do something new for work and it was very nerve-wracking

#basically had to record a tutorial for something and talk through it #which. was okay. it took me three hours when it should've only taken one but i had the time so it's fine #i just cannot speak off the top of my head like that. especially when i'm being recorded and it's going to be USED AS TRAINING MATERIALS GAH #i realized i forgot to mention something really important after i finished the whole thing and god #i didn't want to rerecord the tutorial so i just recorded the snippet i forgot and stitched it all together #but anyways it's done!!#and i'm extra nervous rn because i'm going back to the office once a week starting TOMORROW.........#will probably post a fit check in the morning to boost my confidence bc i'm scawed #it's been almost five months waaaah #i like being at home but i know going into the office once a week again will be good for me #also have some in-office tasks to do so. yayayay #it'll be fine....#trixie talks

Hey, sorry if this is totally out of line, but I just thought I'd warn you about that corn kidz game. It has some pretty strong anti-immigration dog whistles in the second level, just letting you know so you can be prepared

oops saw this too late but yeah, I did pick up on some weird vibes in the NPC dialogue in that area while I was playing, but I wasn't sure if I should make anything of it. a lot of the game's "humor" (and also just like. major game design elements if I'm being honest) kinda bounced right off of me and put me in a less-than-great mood for most of my playthrough, so I was hesitant to criticize anything I wasn't fully sure about in case it was just me being a grump because I died from fall damage too many times. I'm often kinda wary of looking for Objective Serious Reasons to justify why I don't vibe with something subjectively, and doubly so when my judgment is already clouded by frustration.

but like, in hindsight yeah, the conflict presented between the pigs and owls was VERY fucking sketchy?? and like. in most other games I MIGHT be inclined to give it the benefit of the doubt, and say it wasn't intended to have greater meaning or was just handled clumsily. but with how deliberately mean-spirited and edgy the tone/writing is everywhere else, it's hard to feel like the allusions to heavier shit weren't intentional. the bit at the end of the level with the mayor whining about what a pain it was to accommodate the owls by canceling a festival that actively excluded them, or to keep the town's name changed as reparations for literally murdering their leader (and the protagonist not only agreed with him, but actively insisted those accommodations were stupid because they made his own efforts feel pointless), was when I really started to be like "hey this feels wrong" but I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was at the time.

I don't think it's concrete enough that I would tell people not to play or enjoy the game over it, cuz there really isn't much in the way of story in the game anyways and generally it's not what people are playing it for, but it's certainly something worth keeping an eye out for. as someone who already didn't have a great time with the gameplay, the writing really didn't help my opinion of it, especially not now

god it is so insane getting so close to the end of making this base. like it feels fake that in like a week from now im gonna have it out but IM SO CLOSEE to being done it is real i know i can hit that deadline.. but i feel like im in the infinite mental dragon prison tunnel

#i did the math even if i take out some work hours i did last year (~10-15ish on concept art) im still at like 3 whole 40 hour work weeks #which means the mental strain im feeling is just because im working enough as your average full time worker #but i am starting to feel a bit loopy from how long this project has been #i did have an autism breakdown like 2 weeks ago bc i did too much in 1 day so im trying to make myself take it a little easier #i will be CELEBRATING next thursday and im gonna order pizza or something #soap talks #im gonna take it easy and do commissions after this release itll be nice getting to do unique stuff again #actual status update though is im about 90% done and i need to just do some final assembly of files and record tutorials basically

Starting a new level of learning how music works and god

I feel like it's some joke of this being a start of apocalypse or something

Especially with how I accidentally managed to make Loop theme sound cursed

#I had this loooong time wish to start trying to actually play music and ACTUALLY learn it more #And was like sure why not over the years #But it was like uhhhh how does it work....#And that coming from a person that people usually call tech smart #That said I won't call myself smart in any tech area aside from like basics #I learn basics quickly and am not scared of them AS much as some people I know #That... And I hate video tutorials #Considering mom tried to make me learn music and art with them it worked out horribly bc I never watched those #I was like “alright I have 7 notes in Undertale minigame how many songs can I learn with just that”#And went from there with trying to learn how to play like normal people do which is my greatest enemy #Because my brain short circuits every time I try that #Anyway #Just a random thing I did!
