I have too many thoughts about a game I still need to watch

so ive learned that the newest taiko game obviously has dlc song packs, but new for this game is a subscription service to access even more songs, which has a partial overlap with the dlc packs
how have we as a society allowed things to get this way
#unhinged fucking garbage#the sub isnt even that expensive but its the principle of it#we cant have rhythm game devs getting into their heads that they can get away with subscription models#irt the overlap: i think if youre gonna do both single purchase and sub then you need to either make all sub songs available for purchase#or else make no overlap so people arent double playing (tho preferably the former)#plus they can and will remove songs from the sub which i get is a licensing thing but then simply dont license songs if you cant#keep them available for as long as the game is expected to sell. skill issue.#last nitpick: the us nintendo eshop warns you of this dlc/sub potential overlap and tells you to check bandais site for a list of sub songs#except this list only exists on their jp site and explicitly says some songs may not be available in other regions so get fucked i guess#tldr we need to start hunting game studio ceos for sport

started playing hatsune miku: project diva mega mix recently and now i'm kind of addicted?? uh oh lol
barely even sunk 4-5 hours into the game and already i'm attempting songs on hard/extreme difficulty xDD i'm just impatient I guess haha
#spectre says#i've always been intrigued by rhythm games but i haven't been able to play many of them#i am playing with mods because ppl have added some songs i really like#of course they're mostly on the harder difficulties tho so that's why i'm jumping right in so i can try to clear them hahaha#the community surrounding this series seems to be only filled with high-level players#so they dont' accommodate newbies very well with their mods#but!! i'm doing my best#i didn't clear a song on extreme yet but i did get 40% accuracy on my first try!!! so that's something!!!! :D#only sad thing is some of the songs really bother me with the flashing lights. so i can only play those in practice mode#since practice disables the music videos#but that means i dont get a score :c#they really should have accessibility settings for people who are sensitive to insane flashing and bright lights#the community seems to be really rude about that tho and act like if you can't handle it you shouldn't even be playing at all#but that's so dumb because i enjoy the gameplay i just can't play some songs legitimately because the visuals hurt me#OTHER THAN THAT THO i'm having a lot of fun

I was listening to the songs from the purse owner dancing games and listening to them made me wanna play them so i turned on my ps4 for the first time in months and started playing the third dancing game and like three songs in, i scrolled down and saw Dance! which is the fourth game's dancing theme song and it just made me wanna play that one instead and so I stopped playing the third one and started playing the fourth one
And the thing is, of the dancing games, I find the fourth game's dancing game a lot more enjoyable to play than 3 and 5's. Maybe part of it has to do with i had to play 3 and 5 from scratch to 100 story completion 3 times in the span of a week bc a ps4 update wouldn't load and i had to factory reset it each time it came up until it worked fine, causing it to wipe all of my data so i got sick of playing them. But I do think there's something charming about the fourth game. Yeah they're all like cash grabs but Ill go back and have fun playing most of the songs in that one where the third and fifth games ill only go back for one song in each game. those games feel like soulless to me which is weird to say bc you can make the argument that four is the same way but again i feel like there's a charm to four that the third and fifth games are missing
Im not really talking about story bc for 4 it was your usual fanfare with the spin offs that it has. i will say 3 and 5's game existing bc Elizabeth and the twins were fighting to see who could of handled 4's situation better and making it an actual competition was funny and according to my friend, something we predicted 2 years before the games came out (I do remember talking about a hypothetical plot for hypothetical dancing games for them but i don't remember exactly if it was that. But if it was, that sounds like something my friend came up with and i agreed with bc im not clever enough to think of a plot like that lol im not doubting my friend im doubting that i also came up with it with them)
Even with a funny storyline once I get to playing im just kinda bored with it as opposed to 4 where i can play those songs over and over. Also i find the dances in 4 more fun to watch and more fun to lay over with another song that matches the BPM (Look up Yosuke Let's Get It Started on youtube you WILL NOT be disappointed! It matches up perfectly!)
also the fourth game has hatsune miku as a special DLC guest star so that helps. It would of been cool if she got to do a song in 3 and 5 too or switch it up with one of her friends for each game. i wanna hear meiko sing rivers in the desert

After flipping through my notebooks I decided to go with my first instinct for you, which was "A Toast to the Alchemists" by Laura Gilpin. This poem hasn't been published online officially, so they're aren't a ton of sites that have it that I could find with a quick Google search. However I've attatched photos of a reddit post with it along with my version in my journal.
I picked this poem because of its themes of time and the passage of time, as well as magic and giving emotional significance to the most mundane and clinical of things (atoms and elements). In other words, taking magic from the world around us, especially through a lens usually seen as lacking wonder or whimsy. Also vibes, I mainly did it based on vibes.

If you liked the writing of this poem, and haven't read it already (or have) I definitely recommend "The Two-Headed Calf" by Laura Gilpin. It's by the same author and is her most famous poem and is fairly well known and also soooooo good. So good.

Honestly a bunch of random unrelated stuff was popping out at me ("Listen" by Miller Williams, "Cartoon Physics, Part 1" by Nick Flynn, "Snow" by David Berman) and like a million billion more which I all got from the same anthology (Poetry 180, edited by Billy Collins) so if you want to read a bunch more poetry, based on vibes alone, I'd say look for the book, the website, or the sequel. The poems from that book aren't too similar to the one above but it's really one of two books I generally recommend people right off the bat (it was my lit teachers favorite lol) because it's meant to get young adults and teens into poetry and introduce contemporary poetry in general. Idk how much poetry you've read whatever but even if you aren't new to it it's still a good compilation of late 90s/early 00s poetry that makes you think but isn't super long/totally incomprehensible
Anyways that got WAY longer than I anticipated or anyone probably wanted but poetry is an obsession of mine and recommending poetry is much more complicated and harder that it looks, even for the people you know best in the whole world AFTER interviewing their opinions on poetry, not to mention how difficult it would be for internet friends on tumblr. But anyways there's a couple poems, I got the vibes as close as I could with the poems I had on file. (Although i do feel like I'm missing something big 🤔) Anyways thanks for the ask Anu! #and please for the love of god dont feel pressured to read ANYTHING on here i spend hours and hours reading poems so when i rattle off names#like that its very much me bouncing along like a frog eating skittles hopping from poem to poem to poem#based on vague vibes and feelings#also also also i already knew this when i made this ask game BUT. recommending poetry is like trying to juggle with your eyes closed because#you just KNOW you just KNOW there is a group of perfect fall in love poems out there but theres a million factors you have to take into#account to find them. like theres theme theres rhyme theres rhythm theres style theres readability/directness#and you have to try and predict someones opinions on all of that while also trying to gauge their level of patience on topics like#age of poem clarity use of standard language and spelling experimental features and line breaks#when a use of any of those they dont like can turn them off a poem entirely#like we were asoue fans together so youd probably like something with ambiguity and could tolerate a more classical look#BUT then comes in the length factor and also a bit clarity plus we have to remember theme and i cant think of any poems that fit that idea#with a theme you would like that i would feel comfortable recommending (because some poems are good but also difficult)#and i LOVE difficult poems theyre my besties but i always hate them during the first 3 reads at least and who has time for that if you dont#have poetry brain disease like i do#anyways. thats a very long way of saying. i tricked you into asking me to ramble abt poetry mwahahahahahahaha#also if anyone out there feels like theyre someone who rambles a lot about their interests to others and can at times feel a little guilty#abt that the poem “To The Sea” by Anis Mojgani talks a bit about that from an outsider pov#blah#poetry tag#answered#jacobsnicket

i would be so into sonic if i wasn't terribad at the games. i don't get very far... probably up to zone 2 if i'm lucky on all three games lol
#i get up to chemical plant. get stuck underwater and give up#it's just really hard to me for some reason#unless im doing something wrong. idk lol im just bad#it's funny because i'm good at other games that may be frustrating to other people#gdshgshddgdh its weird how that works huh#like i'll play parappa no problem but someone else would have so much trouble with it#especially since it's a rhythm game#a lot of people just simply dont have rhythm. that's a fact. i'm not being mean by saying that#and the reality is im just bad at sega games. it's that simple lol their controls are something else#i had lots of trouble with ecco the dolphin as a kid too#to be fair the game doesnt really guide you you kinda just screw around and find out#and it was creepy asf to play
