Mini-review:

I had so much fun watching this! I feel like the movie's tonal shifts and mixtures might be a bit too jarring for some people, but they worked perfectly for me. Most of the comedy lands pretty well, and the dramatic moments strike a nerve. There are even some effective jump-scares here and there! But the thing that takes the film to the next level is the acting. Greg Hsu and Austin Lin deliver flawless performances that really draw you in. People expecting a full-on gay romance will be disappointed, cause that's not what the story is about at all, but the chemistry between these two actors is fantastic and energetic. The directing is also dynamic and keeps you on the edge of your seat. That being said, the movie is not perfect. It tends to represent gay people in a way that feels somewhat stereotypical, and I think it could have delved much more into the social issues it addresses. I know the film has the best of intentions, but yeah, it could still be better in that regard. Anyway, Marry My Dead Body is a very fun experience, filled with humor, drama, action and great performances.

Aaron's family escaped from Xianzhou Yuanqiao, though he was only a baby when he was brought onto the Luofu. His father left when he was the equivalent of a short-lived species of six years old, leaving his mother to care for him until illness took her a century later. Ever since then, Jing Yuan financially provided for him while he remained in his old home on his own insistence, refusing to leave the place he grew up and swore to protect the people in his hometown at any cost. Jing Yuan is a close associate of his mother and a personal fan of her performances at the Qixing theatre.

Under the careful schemes led by Cao Lee, a fellow survivor of the Yuanqiao, they were able to drive away the monsters and abominations threatening to overtake the Eastern Quarter of the Luofu. It was then Aaron's flair with swordplay shone through and accumulated the third most body count. While the Cloud Knights have invited Aaron to join their ranks, he refused but will still help each other out on occasion to protect his hometown and Luofu.

Many have remarked that this lively, young spirited young man bore an uncanny resemblance to General Jing Yuan ...

From young, Aaron studied under the arts of traditional sword dancing unique to Yuanqiao. His mother was the lead and most popular performer during her time, a role which would then be passed down to Aaron Wei in his teenage years. Aaron often take on female lead roles and adds his own innovative flairs to the dance, while retaining the crucial essence of Yuanqiao traditions — a feat that the manager himself initially would not think it'd work but was soon convinced by the popular success and thrilling display of his performance, drawing both excitement and awe from the audience. Jing Yuan himself also favored this innovative approach, noting that Aaron prioritizes the enjoyment of the audience and stage performers while determined to keep their traditions alive for centuries to come.

Despite that, Aaron is not a permanent stage performer of the Qixing Theatre as he refused the manager's offers to become one due to his own personal schedules and lack of interest in joining a specific establishment. As such, he only performs on random appearances and many locals and tourists alike do visit the theatre to hopefully watch him perform.

By the time in his young adult years, Aaron has already accrued massive popularity from his feats, ranging from sword dancing, swordplay, earning lots of money from gambling and is generally successful at anything he tries his hand on. He is nicknamed 'The Little Conquerer of Luozhou' due to his flashy and extravagant feats.

Rumors have it that Aaron flirted with General Jing Yuan's mother upon meeting her but was kindly shot down ( and the rumors are true ).

Aaron is an incredibly charismatic man who lives in a self-indulgent lifestyle but easily inspires the people around him to take up arms against any threat that seeks to invade their hometown and takes an active role in vanquishing them. His name is relatively well-known in the Eastern Quarter of Luofu and in certain other places due to his feats. While he is close with the general of Luofu as one of his disciple, Aaron ensures not to let it speak for his own true strength and achievements, but does look up to Jing Yuan as a role model. His boyfriend, Fen Lee, finds it difficult to resist Aaron's forthright and indulgent requests, even finding them amusing at times.

Some of his strengths including his incredibly sharp intuition, good read of character and deep loyalty to those he forged a connection with. He often helps out his fellow people with their problems, be it little or not. Aaron personally knows everyone in his hometown and able to sense anything amiss in the Eastern Quarter, and is quick to gather necessary people to rectify threats that tried to sneak any funny business into it. He tries not to be overconfident in his abilities, seeking to not participate in fights he knows that will end up in him losing and look for other means to resolve it.

However, many note that Aaron can be easily driven by pure blind rage whenever harm befall on his home or friends, and his anger become so immensely great and out of hand that no one is able to stop him once he began his hunt. He emits an aura equivalent to that of pure demonic and easily loses sight of the paths around him — but can be stopped after taking him down. This is a quality beyond Aaron's control and something the general himself attempted to find the underlying cause behind.

He emits quite a delinquent-like vibe, can be blunt and vulgar with his words, and gets rather curious looking at things that are of illegal nature though he would not personally participate in them. Unlike Yanqing's more serious and proper disposition, Aaron is incredibly laidback, vulgar and moves himself at his own pace, tending to cancel spars or casual meetings just to loiter around at rooftops or flirting at bars, earning much nagging from his rival and sworn little brother. Despite that, he does take time to sharpen his skills, learn new techniques from people he met and forge a rivalry with the Lieutenant to improve.

After losing his mother, Aaron found himself struggling with harboring any sense of belonging anywhere and seek to escape any indication that would tie him down to a place he cannot commit to with his heart, be it the Cloud Knights or the Qixing theatre. He has a deep attachment to his mother's memories and greatly admires her for raising him despite being in between jobs, wishing that she could see the success he earned himself at the theatre. As a child, he often gave his mother trouble due to his excitable and free spirited ways, though his mother never took it as a burden and encouraged him to be happy with himself.

Aaron once brazenly expressed that he is only interested in going after older women or men with large chests. While he did hit on a lot of his friends' mothers, fathers, big brothers and sisters, he stopped after getting into a serious relationship with Fen.

The symphony of gunfire that enveloped your ears become slower and slightly hazy as the normally vivid world around you began to blur and fade.

“No, no! Stick with us y/n, everything is going to be okay,” Slowly she lifted the heavy debris that had fallen on top of you, with a poof of dust she had threw the debris from you and had her arm cradling your head. “Don’t move okay?” She ducked as a hail of bullets flew overhead. “We are going to get you out of this.” She brought a small canteen of water to your splitting, bloodied lips.

“Sage…” you managed to gasp out between laboured breaths. 

“No, no. Don’t try to speak y/n, save your breath. The evacuation helicopter is coming okay?”

“Go…” you groaned out as small tears fell from her welling eyes. “Leave me…”

“Don’t be ridiculous.” She began tearing the clothes from your body in an attempt to get a better look at the injuries you had sustained. As she brought her shaking hands up to wipe the sweat from her forehead you noticed they were coated red with blood, you had not been in much pain but it’s as probably worse than you had first thought. Sage let out a small, almost unnoticeable gasp as she  cut the shirt from your stomach.

“Be honest with me, how bad is it?” Slowly the concussion began to wear off and a lifetimes worth of, pain erupted from you stomach. You tried to reach your arms down but Sage quickly stopped you. “Tell me what’s going on!”

“You landed on a pipe or… something I don’t know what it is but I can see the tip coming through.” Sage ran her soothing, healing hands around the wound, her hands were icy to the touch and although soothing, it could only do so much. “So I can either try and lift you out by myself or I can wait for help to come and-“

“Or you can do the smart thing and leave me.” Sage stared deeply into your eyes for the first time since she had found you under the pile of rubble. 

“No, I can not. We came here together and we are going to leave together.” Another round of bullets swarmed above, narrowly missing sage as she ducked behind a short wall. 

“You can’t save everyone Sage, but you can save yourself.” The sun darkened as the evacuation helicopter circled around your position, kicking up a harsh storm of dust and debris. “Go… please.”
