Mini-review:

I had so much fun watching this! I feel like the movie's tonal shifts and mixtures might be a bit too jarring for some people, but they worked perfectly for me. Most of the comedy lands pretty well, and the dramatic moments strike a nerve. There are even some effective jump-scares here and there! But the thing that takes the film to the next level is the acting. Greg Hsu and Austin Lin deliver flawless performances that really draw you in. People expecting a full-on gay romance will be disappointed, cause that's not what the story is about at all, but the chemistry between these two actors is fantastic and energetic. The directing is also dynamic and keeps you on the edge of your seat. That being said, the movie is not perfect. It tends to represent gay people in a way that feels somewhat stereotypical, and I think it could have delved much more into the social issues it addresses. I know the film has the best of intentions, but yeah, it could still be better in that regard. Anyway, Marry My Dead Body is a very fun experience, filled with humor, drama, action and great performances.

Monster Hunt 2 / Li Yichun as Black Phoenix (Zhu Jinzhen)

I'm not sure what to say about this outfit besides "Wow!" It's even more spectacular and has an even more elaborate headdress than the black outfit that she wears earlier in the film. The hooded cloak, with its black designs of birds and flowers, also has a filmy black net overlay to lend it some subtle depth and drama.

Her ... henchmaidens? ... have some beautiful and elaborate outfits as well, with impressive headdresses of their own.

Immutable: Designing History explores the banal genre of the document and its entanglement with statecraft and colonial(ism/ity). This is framed as a ~5,000 year chronology, imbricating the developments of money and writing—from Mesopotamian clay tablets to distributed ledgers, like the blockchain.

Immutability figures as a design imperative and hermeneutic for considering a variety of techniques (material, technological, administrative, etc.) of securitization against the entropy of a document’s movement through space/time, and the political. This project is driven by a contrast: design educators tend to teach forms like logos, books, websites, etc., but not passports, money, property deeds, etc., in spite of these being design’s most profoundly consequential forms.

As an alternative historiography, Immutable gestures both towards anthropologist Laura Nader’s call to “study up” (on those in power), and the radical educator Paolo Freire’s recognition of the “limit situation” as a generative condition for emancipatory praxis. The volume’s aim is to orient graphic design towards the vocation of imagining, naming, and remembering beyond the horizons of its role as a managerial, administrative, and colonial instrument that imposes a rationality of vision and accountability upon what is knowable, thinkable and sayable.

Thinking about Not Exactly a Hero recently... so...

I wrote a thing :D!

man OH MAN, the more i complete the game by picking the options i hadn't chosen, the MORE i ship the idiots that are Chris and Riley

hell, even their main colors are complementary to each other (yellow/purple)

this will be a rather long post about the dynamics between these two (there WILL be spoilers under the cut, beware!)

chrisley fans unite :)

(i will be referring to them both as male- yeah i'm a fan of fluff BL and i'm biased af and headcanon them both as he/him)

chris, yeah he can be a bastard at times (rarely treating riley all that well during the first few cases, but overall not THAT bad and you get the choice to go along with chris's jokes/opinions which makes him happy)

the real deal starts during case 4 and where riley comes to the police station for support, he does notice how scared chris genuinely was, and that he found out chris may seem arrogant and full of pride... but still has a soft sensitive part in him

choosing to hide in the same cabinet with chris gives you the option to HUG HIM TO CALM HIM DOWN, THAT IS SO SO SWEET??

YOU ALSO GET AN ACHIEVEMENT FOR IT AND CHRIS HIMSELF IS THE ICON PICTURE FOR A TITLE CALLED "FAVORITE BLANKET"

later on chris shows that he actually REALLY does care about riley and letting him hide in his apartment when riley says the SMAKS are going after him too

at first chris seemed like he didn't care at all but even during his depressed state he STILL bothers to care about riley's well-being

at the end of chris's route A, riley's inner voice even states that... both the 2 will move forward with each other, this means that it's implied that they would be extremely close and have a really sweet and fun dynamic together

the fact that chris says he has no problem living with riley though? he has fully and completely trusted riley, and moreso that they will have a dynamic similar to Chief and Flare

which ALSO parallels the fact that chris is a Flare fanboy and has gotten used to using the hydraulic gloves (that act like the gear Flare uses)

and riley's Rank A title that can be earned from Chief's route A

overall... i just really love the chemistry that the team wrote for these 2, it's no wonder the ship is really popular

even if you don't ship them/not referring their dynamic as a ship, you can't deny that they're so adorable and hilarious together
