Ashlesha: The Villain Era Nakshatra

Ashlesha nakshatra can create poison to destroy their enemies. They also have the ability to restrain their destructive powers and hold poison within themselves. As I said in my previous post, Ashlesha embodies the demonic feminine and showcases qualities of the dark side of the feminine. But we need to understand that "darkness" is a spectrum and can be defined/portrayed in a variety of ways.

In this post I'll explore various tropes that Ashlesha natives portray on screen.

Peyton List, Ashlesha Sun plays Poison Ivy in Gotham

"The thing I love most about Poison Ivy is her walking that line between bastion of Mother Nature and psycho Eco-terrorist. She sees herself as the hand of Mother Nature. If Mother Nature were "God," then Ivy would be her "Jesus." She defends the defenceless nature of the world and truly believes in her cause. Maiming, mauling, and mutilating are extreme measures, but it's nothing compared to what irredeemable cruelties humanity's done to the world of nature. Ivy always sees the greater good as she punishes those who deserve it."— J. T. Krul (comic book writer)

This describes Ashlesha natives quite well. They truly believe that the people they hurt deserve it. The aspect of serving karma/justice is a very prominent one.

Poison Ivy has the following abilities:

Genius-level intellect

Manipulation of plants and toxins

Decelerated aging

Expert seductress

These can all directly be connected to Ashlesha. Being a Mercury ruled nak, these natives are naturally intelligent and their minds work very fast, given the mythology of this nak, their connection to toxins and poisons is a gift given to the Ashlesha native. Mercurial women often look very young/youthful and maintain this youthfulness well into their 30s and 40s and on. This nak's deity is Nagas, the serpent God and serpent connection in any nak is a strong indicator of potent sexuality and seductive energy.

Poison Ivy possesses a poisonous touch and is characterized as a "supervillain" or "antiheroine".

I had mentioned in my old post about how movies featuring Ashlesha women have a common trope of them being abused, gaining power through that violent experience and then using those powers to go after all the bad guys.

Similarly, Poison Ivy was a botanist who was persuaded by Marc LeGrand to assist him with the theft of an Egyptian artefact containing ancient herbs. Fearing she would implicate him in the theft, he attempts to poison her with the herbs, which are deadly and untraceable. She survives this murder attempt and discovers she has acquired an immunity to all natural toxins and diseases.

2. Jennifer Lawrence, Ashlesha Sun plays Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games

if you're familiar with the books or the movies you would know that there is a heavy emphasis on Katniss' resorting to manipulation to skew things in her favour, both on and off the arena.

She's competing in a survival reality show where tributes have to kill each other for the entertainment of the masses but she manages to turn things around in her favour through media manipulation, using everything to her advantage.

This emphasizes on Ashlesha's mercurial ability to play with perception and skew the narrative in their favour.

Katniss is an impoverished girl from the poorest district with no chances of winning but she relies on things other than brute strength to see her through the Games.

3. Barbra Streisand, Ashlesha Moon as Yentl in Yentl

This movie is about a girl who disguises herself as a guy to go to school. She falls in love with her male classmate and his gf falls in love with her (believing her to be a guy).

Claire had said in her Ashlesha video about how WLW themes in cinema often involve Cat yoni gals (Punarvasu or Ashlesha)

4. Catherine Deneuve, Ashlesha Moon in The Hunger (1983)

this is yet another very Ashlesha coded movie about a vampire (played by Deneuve) and her aging partner and the doctor he consults to help with his condition and the homoerotic bond that develops between these women.

the fact that Deneuve is playing a vampire (i've noticed Ashlesha playing demonic/monstress esque characters a lot) and that "aging" is a main plot point (vampires don't age) is vv intriguing since mercurials are the most "young/youthful looking"; Mercurials are essentially teenagers even as they grow older, they don't "age" the way most people do, not just physically but also mentally and of course, it wouldn't be an Ashlesha coded film without some WLWism in it.

A major reason why Cat yoni girls are drawn to other girls or to non-penetrative intercourse is because sex is vv painful for female cats. A male cat's penis is barbed, and these little spikes scrape along the female cat's vagina during copulation, making sexual intercourse vv painful for them. I have noticed that many Cat yoni women irl tend to have vaginismus or other conditions that make penetrative intercourse unpleasant or difficult for them. Making love to another woman or intercourse with a partner (male or female) that's largely centred around foreplay is what feels pleasurable to these natives. More than the act of PIV, its intimacy that they crave from sex. They can be very passive in bed and find it hard to orgasm with just PIV. A low libido is also likely. They're not prudish, they're very imaginative with what they desire but when it comes to actually physically expressing themselves, they're like cats, they can't express it.

5. Audrey Tautou, Ashlesha Sun in Priceless (2006)

Audrey Tautou plays a gold digger-y woman (a common Ashlesha trope) who mistakes a bartender to be a wealthy man. She later helps him work as a gigolo for a wealthy woman.

Ashleshas are skilled at manipulation (this is often described in a negative light by many astrologers but manipulation is a skill like any other and can be used for good and bad reasons). This whole movie revolves around one woman's ability to manipulate men into giving her what she wants and by teaching this to another person, she is emphasizing the fact that this is a skill that can be picked up (an essential Mercurial principle because Mercury is about that which we cultivate not what we've been innately gifted with).

6. Marilyn Monroe, Ashlesha Rising in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes

MM plays a gold digger who carefully uses her feminine charms and allure to get with wealthy men. Understanding how to channel femininity in ways that benefit them is a very Cancerian woman thing.

If we were to consider the fact that Marilyn basically created a whole alter ego, adopted certain mannerisms, dressed a specific way, used a fake baby voice, styled and kept up a whole persona then we can see the positive manifestation of Ashlesha and Cancer's manipulative feminine nature. She wasn't born Marilyn, she became her through her carefully cultivated charm. This is peak Mercury, peak Cancer behaviour.

Sidenote: I've noticed many Cancer women speaking in a fake baby voice tbh hehe, Paris Hilton (Pushya Moon) also does this. Paris is also a great example of Cancerian performative femininity. She managed to convince the whole world she was a dumb blonde heiress when she was anything but. She created a persona for herself and played that character to the t. Her hyperfeminine mannerisms, almost caricatur-ish personality has had a lasting impact on pop culture. She herself has come out to say that she "was playing a character".

7. Anna Kendrick, Ashlesha Sun in Alice, Darling (2022)

this movie is about a manipulative, abusive and controlling relationship based on anna kendrick's real life experiences. Ashlesha women and Cancer women in general are very susceptible to relationships of this sort. It starts at home usually, these women have very dysfunctional relationships with their mothers and go on to form unhealthy and toxic romantic relationships (if unevolved).

8. Ashlesha's connection to Snow White

Snow White's story depicts the OG toxic mother-daughter dynamic which is a common theme in the lives of many Ashlesha natives. Receiving step daughterly treatment from your own mother and having a sibling who is more favoured than you is another common theme.

We see this play out in real life with Bella and Gigi Hadid who both have Ashlesha Mars as their atmakaraka and amatyakaraka respectively.

Many Ashlesha women play the toxic mother in tv shows and movies (Vera Farmiga, Ashlesha Moon in Bates Motel) but its equally likely for them to play the daughter who is at the receiving end of the abuse.

A major way that this "toxicity" manifests is through highly co-dependent relationships with their mothers, who essentially run their lives for them and keep them "trapped" in childlike passivity. The thing is Ashlesha women almost kinda like it this way, they want to be taken care of, they're needy and would much rather have someone else do everything for them. Rising above this passivity is their biggest challenge.

The Indian actress Sridevi (Ashlesha Sun & Stellium) was known for her highly co-dependent relationship with her mother. In the 80s during her peak, it was a running joke that you could ask Sridevi anything and she'd respond with "Ask Mummy". Sridevi, like many Ashlesha natives had a very childlike personality and was often described as lacking "mental maturity". The reality is that her mother micromanaged her life and made all her decisions, controlled her finances and told her what she could do and couldn't do until she passed away when Sri was well into her 30s. She forced Sri into films when she was barely a toddler and never gave her any formal education. Of course Sridevi never described this relationship as "toxic". Most of these natives wouldn't because its been ingrained into them that they're incapable of getting anything done on their own and "need" their mother to do things for them. They're gaslit into believing they're inept. (Sridevi was also known for speaking in a baby voice 😌)

Ashlesha lies entirely in Cancer rashi which means they are lost to the watery depths of Cancer's influence, the combination of Moon & Mercury always makes one prone to manipulation and although this is considered a negative, I absolutely believe it can be manifest in positive ways. However it IS hard.

The feminine/ yin urge to absorb energy manifests itself in an absolutely self-serving here. Imo this is by nature self serving always however other Cancer rashi naks have the ability to give to others in ways an Ashlesha native can't.

Ashlesha is cancer at its most passive, absolutely unable to "give"; this means they feel easily drained by others and have to be very selective with who they give their energy to. Women in society are harshly judged for how much of their energy they give to others which is why Ashlesha women who are largely self contained are viewed as "toxic", because our society looks down upon women who only exist for themselves, we're all taught to "give". A woman who cannot do so is seen as "toxic" because its "selfish" to keep to yourself. This is why Ashleshas are so grossly misunderstood.

Mercurial women have a very complicated relationship with sex and sexuality. This is most evident in the case of Ashlesha women. Cat yoni is the most restrictive yoni and this is not only apparent in their sexual preferences and relationships but in the way they conduct themselves generally. They are usually introverted and struggle the most with their tendency to be passive because cats are by nature, very lethargic creatures who are self involved and seldom seek outside company.

The other two mercury naks, Jyeshta (rabbit yoni) and Revati (elephant yoni) have a very different approach to sexual matters. For Jyeshta natives, its the frequency of sex that matters, since rat/rabbit yoni is considered the most sexual. They usually have a high sex drive but sex itself is impersonal for them.

However for Revati natives, given that their yoni is the largest land animal, more than frequency its the quality of sexual intimacy that satiates them. They are thrill seekers. Sex that is ordinary or "vanilla" does not fulfil them; there has to be an element of adrenaline rush, which BDSM or other taboo relationships can provide but its rare for these natives to feel pure, naked desire for someone, they crave the thrill of sex itself.

Overall, a major focus in the lives of Ashlesha natives is building an identity for themselves. Many of them cultivate a self that's entirely different to who they were growing up, with a very apparent change in style/mannerisms etc. Like snakes (to whom they are closely linked) they need to shed their skin and renew themselves again and again.

Their Mercurial gifts of intellect, wit and street smarts see them through these and allow them to flourish in every avatar.

Sometimes I look how Tumblr fandom has interpreted Steven Grant and wonder if we watched the same show.

It is frustrating how so many people take Steven’s kindness and his pacifism and his quite frankly autistic coded traits and use it to baby-fy him. As if kindness and pacifism can’t be grown man traits. As if people with autism are inherently not true grown up people.

The fandom from what I can see leans heavy on the idea that Steven needs protection, that Marc (or Layla or Jake or OMG Khonshu of all people) need to take care and protect him.

And I reject that. Or, at least, I don’t think Steven needs to rely on others more than is typical for any person. As part of a system, Steven does rely on Marc to some degree, but people acknowledge that without acknowledging that Marc relies on Steven just as much. They don’t acknowledge that Steven has strengths that Marc lacks - the ability to form healthy boundaries and communicate well and honestly with others. As Moon Knight, or rather Mr. Knight, Steven’s more observant, perceptive, more able to use a depth of knowledge to help with the mission (come’on Marc, you’re the avatar of a Egyptian god so may pick up a book and learn some Egyptian mythology).

Side note - I do love that Steven clearly has autism and thus we need to reason that Marc and Jake do as well BUT is the least gullible of the two. Khonshu simply can’t manipulate Steven. I think Khonshu always knew this. That was the real reason Marc’s deal with Khonshu included Steven not interfering. It wasn’t because Steven wasn’t a fighter, clearly he was able to pick that up. It was because Khonshu knew that he couldn’t pull that manipulative abuse with Steven. I think this is why Khonshu made a purposeful effort to scare the shit out of Steven when Steven started to perceive him.

Any rate, I feel that Steven’s strengths are woefully overlooked in a fandom that seems largely intent on baby-fying him and it’s frustrating.

Hey I just wanted to ask you, what do you think of the fact that in ToA the fact that Apollo bullied Harpocrates was basically made up and has no basis in myths? I'm kinda conflicted, because I can get behind holding the deities accountable for the stuff they have done, but that one think was made up.

I have seen this as a common complaint about ToA. And yes, I see the view - it has no basis in the actual myths, and therefore shouldn't reflect on what actual mythological Apollo has done.

Buckle up. I've got some thoughts to share here.

There are a couple things to consider here:

The Camp Half-Blood Chronicles are not meant to be 100% accurate to the myths. Nor did Rick really intend to do so when he first created the series - after all, PJO started out as Haley's new bedtime story, and to give him a character he could relate to. That was the main goal of Rick's.

Does Rick do his best to stay true to the myths? I do think so. Sure, he trips up at times (details of the myths [ie, Midas was not the judge of the Apollo V Pan contest], characterizations of the gods [ie, Aphrodite & Ares), ect.) but all in all he does do his best to give us a well-rounded story that has Greek Mythology as its influence.

Because also remember - PJO started out as a story about the demigods, not the gods. If the gods had originally been Rick's focus instead, I think we would have a bit of a different tale.

So a bit of creative liberty can be taken here, especially since Rick basically decided 'all myths are true!' with his Kane Chronicles and Magnus Chase books - it makes sense, from a storytelling perspective, that (ToA) Apollo would have crossed paths with Harpocrates at some point.

With all honesty, the CHB Chronicles shouldn't even be taken as fact about the myths - about the gods. Because no mythological series is ever 100% accurate, and to assume they are is disrespectful to the culture these myths come from.

And continuing with the storytelling perspective...honestly I think it was a pretty interesting choice on Rick's end. It's not myth-accurate, but I think it does add more to the story Rick is telling us.

He's not using these gods to make them look bad, after all. He's using them to tell a story. To give us a message.

And ToA's mainly centers around abuse.

Zeus isn't an abuser in mythology, but Rick made him one in his books to show us how abuse works. How it can be difficult to accept that you have been abused.

How hard it can be to acknowledge the fact that you have caused pain yourself.

Because while it seems like Harpocrates would cause Apollo's whole character to take a bit of a dive (after all, nobody likes a bully, right? Who would!), I...disagree.

I think Harpocrates deepens Apollo's character.

Stick with me.

I have been bullied in school. Fourth grade and seventh grade in particular were Dreadful for me and in seventh grade I would come home in tears about 95% of the time. I would even skip track practice because I was so emotionally unbalanced from the day I just couldn't take another minute.

There was something that my parents, grandparents, the parish deacon, ect all told me. There is probably a reason why bullies picked on me;

They were jealous.

There was something wrong with them; or, connecting to this point;

They were hurting.

Anybody else's brains go "Bingo!"?

Because think about it. By the time Harpocrates comes around, Apollo's already spent a lot of time under Zeus's thumb - under his abuse.

And personally, I don't think Zeus likes the other pantheons. And I bet he really doesn't like it when pantheons...mix.

Which is something Harpocrates is. A mix between his original Egyptian self, and what Ptolemy made him to be.

So imagine this: You are Apollo. You have been dealing with your father's abuse for centuries. You are hurting - physically, emotionally, and mentally. You come across this god who's a mix between Egypt and Greece. He is the opposite of you - silence where you are sound.

Wouldn't he be the perfect target to lash out at, without repercussions? After all...I doubt Zeus would care if Apollo was kicking around a mixed deity. Perhaps...he would even encourage it...

But I hear you - "But Apollo barely remembers Harpocrates!" And yes, he does barely remember him and it takes him a bit to acknowledge the fact that he did bully him.

So here's the kicker; I think Apollo lashed out at Harpocrates only a few times. He tried to transfer the pain he felt onto another, on the hope it would make him feel better.

But it didn't. Nothing made him feel better about himself.

And what's something we know about Apollo?

It's how much guilt he keeps bottled up. And I bet that after a few times, Apollo just...stopped going after Harpocrates. I think Apollo started feeling guilty about it, but quickly stamped it down and tried to forget about such feelings by forgetting about Harpocrates.

What you don't know can't hurt you, after all, right?

Seeing vivzie flub her numbers and mouth over her """team""" within this video is very telling.

"40 or 50 people or so I think i would have to check and make sure on discord--we have sorta 10-ish people in my core team with my animators. I'm a main compositor with my friend while my background artist and cleanup team of 15 or so is just so-big it's so Huge its so large! We have so many people working on this project and just handling with so many key components over backgrounds and key framing the lip syncs, my background artists doing so much work. I feel like and hope people will really stay on"

Interviewee Joke: 'Oh how many animators do I have [again], no-oh god no!!!'

It's insane to think Helluva Boss has over 80+ animation credits which is definitely not a good thing. It's one thing in industry to have a large studio but it's another thing of collaborating artists coming and going to work on an ongoing series is not a good thing to flaunt. Even if your show has won two independent animation awards you should take pride over producing to actually make something good instead of flaunting the fact that you acknowledge the bare minimum of abuse, rape, misogyny, supremacy, classism, sexism, or gender critical writing fails face first in every episode.

Her favorite movies being Cat's Don't Dance/Who Framed Roger Rabbit and referencing BoJack Horseman even referencing that they anthropomorphize their themes being prejudice and STORYTELLING DEVICES, so what story is Helluva Boss even telling right now???? She claimed to even want to write about dark themes and mature adult topics about prejudice and yet has nothing to show for it after 6 years of nothing burger that is Helluva Boss and Hazbin Production :/

She fully admits that patreon and merch hauls fund hazbin/helluva production and that she fully handles the patreon money herself she budgets to push towards 'Hazbin' to 'Pay her small team'. She wanted to try to promote a Kickstarter over the pilot pre-A24 pickup before she made it big-time which is weird to hear when she didn't even have hazbin finished while boarding out 4 episodes of helluva bosses' first season. Even if it was supposed to allegedly be a 1 season show only. It's weird to try to discern which show she's trying to elaborate/talk about which one.

X - Evidence of the promotional videos for Helluva Boss/Hazbin. Strangely enough it has always been together instead of separated meaning she was attempting to garner hype for her series through Helluva Boss Merchandising and attempting to cyphen even more money over small Hazbin merchandising.

X - Here is Vivs' patreon promo earlier before the Hazbin pilot. Discussing how much she wanted to have a bigger budget at the time to fund her animation. Talks about Zoophobia Reboot and there has never been discussion since. Originally charged 10$ for private qna's. 50$ for discord access calls, unsure if this is still a Patreon feature. Also unsure over the 100$/500$ speeddraw commissions she promo'd... There is another production patreon she teases that holds nothing beside the Vivziepop name.

The show being placed upon rehabilitation and redemption despite the focus only being towards 'A Disney/Tim Burton Princess in Hell' goes to show that she had no direction of where she wanted to take Angel or Charlie. Charlie always being based on a porcelain doll? Greek/Religious Context/Egyptian mythology where???

"The best animation in it, is not done by me"

Within full admission of her nervous attitude without naming anyone within her team and just referred to everyone as 'My team/Crew' is very telling of how humbling she really even is.

Thr 'Yotta' she refers to is in reference to Studio Yotta, Helluva Boss is funded and produced alongside Horseless Cowboy with Horvitz towards the Casting Direction, meaning she's been funded with a major video game industry since day 1 of Helluva Bosses' production ergo, Vivziepop/Spindlehorse/Vivienne Medranno has never been independent in her entire production malpractice. She stated to be aware and know of wanting to work under SAG is very intriguing given that since Moxxie has been absent for half of season 2 its probably due to Richard striking as my best guess to the messy writing of broken railroad tracks that was supposed to be Helluva Boss production.

While it is one thing to have connections in industry to connect and come together and credit within your artists and studios, Vivzie does not have a studio. The merch sales/Patreon/YouTube QnA's directly go towards paying her animators, voice actors, and production management but not at all a 'Studio' she promotes herself as. All animation work and shots are handled through Discord and emails online this has been proven time and time again.

The fact that the pilot has been pushed aside so much over Helluva Boss and not a genuine interest to have redemption or care and love within the disguised nightmare that is Helluva Bosses' writing. She loves to flaunt demonology and love towards hell of aesthetics with demons/monsters she fails to actually represent the actual Demons of folklore/hell world building in HB leaves me to be worried... That she discredits actual Demon culture by stating

'I don't know have you seen one? They don't exist its just been human mysticism, Demons can be anything. Have you been to Hell?' Without realizinf she will fail to depict the Lord of the Flies as Gluttony....

"--It might not ever happen to work together with [Ke$ha] professionally would be a dream honestly. --The next Ke$ha song I want to animate is either is going to be official or is something that she wrote for one of MY projects or something"

She did and she made her state 'There's like, a rainbow inside my vagina.' Wooow so professional, "Cotton Candy" so originally produced to be so professionally Disney-Grade. The fact that she halted and couldn't release season 1's full finale due to having Ke$ha break her contract with legal battles and corporate music industry bindings during the Dr. Luke 2016 trial, waiting until 2020 to finally release it within this year and have Lukewarm perception because Rose cannot even sing within the episode its a replacement actor to sing for her! She just wrote the bare minimum draft of a song to submit for you to animate! Time and time again viv just flaunts herself to throw herself out there over 'Look at my projects aren't they neat!" And then be a monster during production of hoarding artists to herself and trash talking/harboring a group of bullies within her 'Core Crew'.

"Zoophobia is my Childhood project, it had everything and it was a mess. It was the magic of a childhood story told by an adult because I was in college while working on it at the time. It's the incubation chamber for all of my projects now. When I go back to it, it will be a complete reboot but for now it's on the shelf.... I lost all passion for it but I love my characters in it."

... And yet she hasn't talked about the comic since Bad-Luck Jacks' animation release nearly 4 years ago? All merchandising she promotes is about Helluva Boss and barely anything towards Hazbin or Zoophobia which is supposedly 'In-Production' while these merchandising of stickers, pins, skateboards, switch cases, posters, sketchbooks covers of Demonic stickers, sexualized hornybait, racist and transphobic enamel pins that can't keep character skin colors correct, and puzzles because of course! All of which, is merchandising of HELLUVA BOSS!

Vivziepop only views her characters as dollar signs. She still features her old Zoophobia designs within her Redbubble account goes to show how much profit she loves to make with other peoples' character designs.

X - A Season 1 Helluva Boss poor promotional trailer trying to garner hype for the series acting as if it was telling a cohesive story with actual plot happening with little Stolas screen time. It makes me wonder if season 1 was an entirely different drive of writing thoughts and artist drafts compared to season 2's production.

X - Helluva Boss Season 2 promotional storyboard conception, Two years ahead of time and finally all the boards make sense for season 2 and there still is no eventual plot besides setting up Fizz and Ozzy over Belzebub and Tex or any returning season 1 villain akin to D.H.O.R.K. or Cherub/Verrosika and especially no sight of Moxxie and Millie development besides fight scenes.

It makes me think of however much season 3 will suffer to spiral into production.

Blizzards greed is truly something else my dude… I actually need to rant about this because PEOPLE ARE FINALLY RECOGNIZING THE PROBLEM!

so season 12 teaser happened. got the content yknow new hero, clash, rank reset, yada yada filler content…

BUT OH MY. when we FINALLY get the Egyptian mythology themed season we all have been waiting for!

It goes to reaper. the only connection he has towards Anubis (god of mummification and the afterlife) is death itself.

blizzard it has been 5 MONTHS since their release and all they got was an epic skin, emotes, and highlight intros.

what really makes me blood boil is that blizzard, that greedy company completely leaves heroes like Ramattra and Venture high and dry with little content and give everything else to heroes like Kiriko and Mercy with the larger fan bases attached, and blizzard only sees those large fan bases as nothing more than sacks of money to abuse.

You see the pattern its not that hard to see looking back, they have always been doing this since OW2!! (we all remember the witch kiriko being 25$)

its just a miss after miss after miss. And im not surprised anymore and a lot of people are just like me, disappointed but not surprised because we are used to it.

thats the saddest part, blizzard isnt worth the fuss, but here i am ranting about a yet another greedy game company.

Yo I have to ask because it's been driving me nuts. So I had to read it because I was curious. Have you heard of Ennead? I think it's on Tappytoons and I just had to know what was up with that comic because the ads on FB kept getting so many likes so I paid for it to read at least the first season, plus the art was really nice but I just... wow.

Unless I'm the only one feeling this way I think The Ennead just absolutely butchered Egyptian mythology just as bad if not worse than LO. If you haven't heard of it, it's a BL comic with the love interests being HORUS AND SETH. Yeah, makes no sense. The more I read it the more it felt like the author just wanted a BL story with an Egyptian coat of paint on it.

I can't stress how bad I think this one is. The main couple goals aside it really does the most to make Osiris to be a psychotic abuser who SA'd Seth and while Osiris is the one who basically caused all the chaos and seems to be the main villain Isis blames Seth for his own SA and even abuses his wife and blaming it all on her. She's perfectly aware Osiris caused all this but her revenge is specifically targeting Seth for "Ruining her life" or something like that. It's awful. I don't know why it's so popular. Unless I am missing something????

ngl I constantly forget TappyToons exist, it feels like some weird off-shoot of Tapas haha (I know it's not, those are just The Vibes). Thankfully I don't get those weird webtoons ads as often in my feed anymore, they've been replaced by reels and ads for streetwear brand clothing LMAO

I'm also admittedly not up to snuff on Egyptian mythology, so I can't really pitch in on Ennead's depiction of it, but judging by your take on it it sounds frustrating ! If I ever do check it out I'll definitely come back to this with an actual response but I can't make any promises that I'll be able to make the time for it, sorry ( ; ω ; )

I know you've written about the Gullveig/Freyja theory but I keep seeing the equation of Angrboða with the witch whose heart Loki ate according to Voluspa hin Skama and both of them being equated with Gullveig. I want to know where this idea comes from. I mostly see it on FB in the Norse Gods Discussion Group and a couple Lokean groups {although, not as much anymore}. I honestly think this is just too much of a leap in logic. I know Genevieve Gornichec put Angrboða as Gullveig in her book, but I'm not sure if she equated them with the heart eating thing. I didn't read it.

I'm asking because I've been looking for good fiction about Norse mythology but keep running into the idea that Loki is an abusive husband but also that killed his mistress and ate her heart, which kinda doesn't make sense to me because why wouldn't he have just slept with her if he wanted more children or whatever.

I'm going to stick to Greek or Egyptian mythology based fiction like ENNEAD for now, whilst looking for good Norse ones.

The first author that I know of to describe Gullveig/Heiðr, Angrboða, and the heart into a single figure is the 19th century Swedish author Viktor Rydberg (he also included Aurboða and Hyrrokkin in this complex). Rydberg was convinced that there was a single original epic narrative that was shared by all the Germanic-speaking peoples, and that myths, legends, and folklore of Germanic Europe was made up of the decayed, corrupted fragments of it. He also believed that he knew how to put it back together, sometimes even borrowing from non-Germanic narratives.

In order to make that make sense, a lot of his work is very preoccupied with merging different figures together, because he can't really allow any loose ends. His work is also characterized by a fairly strict polarity between the gods (unambiguously good) and their enemies (unambiguously bad) which, to be fair, was not uncommon among scholars in his day. He had some things to say that were important for the 19th century, but his work should not be taken seriously today.

He does still have a small but very prolific following among modern heathens including the authors of the so-called "Asatru Edda" and whoever runs www.germanicmythology.com.

I'm not sure if more recent Lokean/Rökkratrú theorizing about Gullveig/Heiðr and Angrboða is related to Viktor Rydberg or not. I could imagine that the sort of Þursatrú/Nordic Satanism types might have some things in common with the Rydberg-inspired heathens, taking the same black-and-white, hardline good-vs-evil view, but siding with the opposing team, and being favorable toward the Gullveig/Angrboða/Aurboða/Hyrrokkin complex; and then this could filter into other Lokean or Rökkatrú spaces. To me, the burnt heart seems to point to Rydberg. I don't think that Völuspá in skamma gives an impression that the heart that Loki eats belongs to Angrboða. Rydberg only came to that conclusion by inserting Völuspá into the context of Völuspá in skamma, so that Angrboða is mentioned as the mother of Fenrir, then is burnt (as Gullveig), then the burnt heart is eaten before she's resurrected. I find this pretty unintuitive, and unlikely to be thought of twice independently of each other, but I could be wrong.

On the other hand, sometimes ideas just go into circulation without anyone knowing where they come from, not thinking to question it. It's possibly that Rydberg was the ultimate origin of this, but that nobody spreading the idea knows it.

There are also a lot of heathens who worship Angrboða, but since she's only mentioned by name once in all of Norse mythology (twice if you count Snorri, but it seems like he's working from Völuspá in skamma, so it's probably just the first reference again), it seems natural to look for traces of her elsewhere. Merging her with other figures like Gullveig/Heiðr might be a way of adapting other lore so that their goddess has more written about her.

As an aside, if a figure from Völuspá is to be identified with Angrboða, I would expect it to be the unnamed in aldna í Járnviði, whose children are "Fenrir's kind."

I'm not really very familiar with Lokean groups or even really Facebook heathenry in general anymore, so it's very possible I'm missing some things. I don't really know anything about Norse mythology-inspired fiction.

Wow the disrespect again and how it doesn't make any sense. The Greek gods not only were worshipped by our ancestors (some still do) but they were called that way because they were ethnically Greek too. The same goes to the Egyptian, Norse, Japanese gods and every other mythologies. They are called that way because they were worshipped by the people ot that country.

But it's still frustrating people (especially USians) feeling the need to erase the roots of something that not only it's not theirs, but want to claim it as well. Seriously i thought the game was okay at first, but after that έπεσαν λίγο στα μάτια μου αυτοί :/

This has become the mantra of all people who have baptised Greek mythology a fandom. Newsflash for them: Any god technically has no ethnicity as the god reigns over the world and everyone can be moved by the religion’s philosophy and decide to be initiated in it. This does not just apply conveniently to the Greek religion but to all known religions where deities have power across the universe.

It would be a good moment for some to admit that "racebending" the Greek Gods has nothing to do with whether these Gods have a Greek or other or no ethnic descent or can shapeshift, but it is exclusively a feeling of misplaced right to its abuse for being perceived as a "white religion", "popular with the colonialist West" or even worse "a religion of people who have had colonies at some point a gazillion years back in time", which gives this abuse an element of deserved retribution. These people are in truth well aware of the unethical aspects of it, which is why they consider it racist if done for "POC-originated" religions but almost ferociously exciting when done for the "evil white-originated" one. Furthermore, the potential remnants of ethical concerns that some of these people might have are often overcome by Greece's place on earth, in the Mediterranean Sea, where one can conveniently claim the looks of people are more "open to interpretation" than looks in, say, Scandinavia are. Of course, the concept of considering a person's looks open to interpretation is hugely problematic in itself but this is another can of worms. Besides, it is also very enticing to attempt to argue that this religion / mythology wouldn't be as fascinating if the people's looks weren't open for interpretation (because as we all know in the Tumblr Law, all white people without exception have no indigenous lands or cultures, they landed from another planet just to inflict suffering on others).

Producers, woke creators and obtrusive fans are also equally hypocritical in not admitting that using Greek mythology while trying to modify it to fit in their own reality or a contemporary reality anyway is nothing more than just them liking what the #Western_trends like, coming up with their own little story and trying to project it through the mythology that currently SELLS the most. Trying to change an admittedly famous mythology and squeeze yourself into it instead of finding the one that truly expresses you is a "mimicking the strong one" syndrome accompanied with denial issues. And you know what? It might even be internalised racism for some. Hopefully they will realise it one day as they grow up. This for the “woke”. The producers and businessmen are using the Greek brand and the diversity brand very knowingly to maximise their profit, as they know this is the safest way to attract the trending woke wallets. Idealism, inclusivity or accuracy have absolutely nothing to do with their true intent.

Last but not least, I rarely talk about this and I honestly don’t care as much about it as most people here. Even if a portrayal gets out of typical ethnic Greek look range, towards either the lighter or the darker, I can usually live with it. Some artwork is so beautifully done that I don’t have the heart to be the party pooper. But it’s the self entitlement that gets me and the greediness, the “ I can fix Greek mythology” stance (no dear, you can't, it's a mythology not a car) even though they are AVID readers of it and the “no you don’t know it well, Ancient Greece was like modern USA” no it wasn’t, you just come up with things to prove the validity of your entitlement. And unfortunately when a project is based on so questionable foundations, the creative result is rarely good. It can be, but rarely.

I think I speak on behalf of all Greeks when I say that we don't ask for anything except for the Ancient Greek mythology to be appreciated for what it is. Take it or leave it. For whatever issue in which you personally find the Greek mythology to be lacking, find another one that isn't and also appreciate it for what it is. It's that simple, really.

I'm thinking about Osiris and Set. How they are brothers, but Osiris is depicted as having the face of a human and Set of an animal. How there is no clear motive for Set to murder his brother, but in some versions of the myth Osiris' body was cut into pieces and his penis went missing. How their sister, and Osiris' wife, Isis, still managed to conceive a son with her undead husband. How Osiris is a mummy, undead, the god of fertility, plants, life-death and resurrection, and how Set got demonized, perceived as purely a god of storms, violence and disorder despite being the one to fight the snake of chaos to protect the sun. How Osiris is associated with the moon. How Osiris' son, Horus, might be Osiris himself, reborn, how he's described as both Set's nephew and brother. How the rivalry between Horus and Set has a sexual angle and ends in sexual abuse. How in the aftermath of Horus' retaliation for said abuse Set gives birth, depending on the version either to a golden disc the god of wisdom and the moon takes to wear on his head or the god himself, Thoth, who provides council between the two gods and according to other stories was the one to advise Isis on how to resurrect Osiris in the first place. Like. It's so much to bite into. Egyptian mythology is so rich and juicy and convoluted and operates on symbolic meaning more than one true version of events, because the culture lasted for so long, I just wanted to share because I felt like I didn't convey how fascinating it all is

Upon the The League of Villains kidnapping Katsuki Bakugou, a time anomaly had occurred. Making the villains more powerful and dangerous. Made for the one and only @toguchindraws , hope you like it!

(got a bit carried while writing and finished doing three whole different versions about your prompt; also got a bit too long, I guess? Sorry for any mistakes; I tried my best to make sure everything is right and make sense, since it`s been a while I`ve wrote something other than essays in english.)

Christine "Chrissy" Cunningham or as her boyfriend Jason calls, "Chris" always has some kind of "other side" problems. She could see when a kind of shadow with no actual form, started following people and when this happened; a few days or even a month later (just once, the most long and successful witnessed by her) the said person would die.

She started seeing them after her grandfather, by mom's side, passed away.

At just the age of eight years old, remembers vividly how in peace he looked, when he closed his eyes and the shadow came out by the wall on the side of his bed at the hospital; just stretched his hand in the direction of his body and a second later with a blink, disappeared and the machinery started beeping.

The following days passed like a blur, she remembers telling her mother about this and she didn't care; probably thinking this was just her daughter`s imagination and when her grandpa's funeral happened she saw more of these shadows gluing themselves into the adults steps. Gradually, she started seeing them more often to a point where predicting bad things happening around became easy as breathing.

When turned fifteen, she noticed there were some kind of dogs or wolves as they seemed to look, with various sizes just as big as cars and little as sheeps, with dark red glowing eyes. They could see her staring and usually would just sniff at the direction she was walking by , but never exactly bothered to come close or chase….

1986

Well, this was her year of graduation and everything was running smoothly - thank you very much - except today, for three single-headed and weird facts:

Waking up to a crow screeching in her window, he had red scarlet eyes and let out a scream before flying to somewhere;

Missing the bus to school;

Suddenly and without a thought accepting a ride from this dude who could be a psycho killer by the looks and his expensive car (a damn Chevy Bel Air 1955 Black and Chrome, that she only knew because of mr. Richard Harrington; who lives ten blocks away driving one around when he's on town)

Well, maybe this was supposed to be her bad day; the Universe surely loves her to make this happen! anyway, she trailed off in thought until hearing the dude at the driver wheel (to whom she didn't trade a single word with since entered the car, could swear was some kind of vampire by the pale-white skin tone and didn't even introduced herself) started speaking in this low and bewitching voice.

- Miss Christine Cunningham, what a beautiful day; don`t you agree?- his voice sounded kinda emotionless while eyeing her with a knowing smirk- guess I wasn't supposed to be here to take you. - Chrissy`s head started ringing a bell at this sentence and she almost broke her neck, turning her head too fast to look at him entirely - But my curiosity just took the best of me, I guess…

At this moment he stopped in front of the school and looking through the window, there was no living soul walking around with also a weird mist, blocking some spaces of the outside view. Which was surely weird because she saw the bus passing by and right that her house is the last stop, before the bus goes directly to school and the mist was just weird; surely there weren't any drop in temperature and the sun was shining very bright today when leaving home.

Okayyyyyy….

Maybe this was her year of death and not the perfect-graduation-before-marrying-her-high school-sweetheart, but at least was going to be happy very far from her abusive mother and ignorant/absent father kind of freedom. Except for the fact she traced her brother's fate and will let him suffer the same twisted shit as her. It's too late to regret now, she can only pray that some other biggest force helps him.

The man started laughing (this cute half sweet and funny, kind of) and she may have or may not hold her breath; while lost in thoughts waiting for him to recompose himself after getting out of her own head.

- I'm sorry - he says with a shining and charming smile,before turning to look at her (maybe she went crazy today, but his eyes were a red scarlet like the dogs but with a gleam of knowledge like the crow at her window this morning, at least for a second seemed). With a blink his eyes were this chocolate brown, but the gleam stood there, he seemed to devour every detail of her avidly. He just offered his hand to her and when she went for a handshake, he took her hand making the way to his lips and leaving a little kiss at the back - I`m sorry - he seems to say this word way too much - my lady; but how impolite of me, to not present myself correctly to such a sweet woman as you! - he still held her hand, but the compliments and too formal way of speaking made her heart beat faster, with a little bit of red showing on her cheeks.

- I am Anubis, guardian of the underworld and one of death's angels…

- WHAT?!?- Chrissy just bursts out, before containing herself and now scared with all her being. While the supernatural being in front of her just seems to enjoy her reaction and waits patiently for her to calm down.

- Exactly what you heard, my lady; - she still can't believe this dude looking like a rockstar, seemingly to just have got out of one of those magazines such as Rolling Stone is THE egyptian God of underworld and afterlife. Well, it's just like this old saying: “Never doubt a bad event, cause things tend to get way worse; faster than a blink of an eye”. Maybe she's just hallucinating the whole thing? She pinch her leg and yep, this hurts and she's surely awake.

- Okay, so…. What exactly do you want from me? I mean, I`m just a mortal as you can see and I don't exactly have anything to offer out of the ordinary. - he raises his hand as a signal for her to stop speaking.

- Lady Cunningham, I know you; I've heard enough from the shadows, so many stories of you to just make me curious enough to plan, want to come out of my house and meet you personally. My subordinates are amazed by the fact you can see them and always wanted to come closer and speak with you; but that`s explicitly against our most ancient and important rules. I deeply apologize on behalf of them, if they ever scared you or even chased you around; they just didn't know what to do or how to react to you seeing them, unlike all the other people.- he never let go of her hand while speaking and seemed disappointed after speaking about this essentially - But, even breaking the rules death gave us and all, I'm here to also make an offer….. - he looks directly to her like there`s nothing except her soul and could read her deepest secrets without even thinking too much.

She is still scared, not only because he's an egyptian god but because the world out of this space seems to have stopped the clock of time and is very empty.

- Eternity is something so boring, especially if you can't be seen by other people; so, what I want to offer you is very simple: you can spend some time and keep me company, when you're free from your obligations and in return I can give you rides to anywhere, at anytime - and there it was, the glint but this time; seems like some kind of trap or especially making a deal with the devil himself in exchange for her soul. - So, what do you say?

Well, this wasn't exactly what she had in mind when he offered a ride to school (more like a murder, to be more exactly). But at least he seems to be good even being a powerful god and seems lonely. Well at least she wasn`t trading her soul for some crap and maybe even win a true friend (who knows?);

- Deal. So I can pet the dogs,crows or whatever they are now and they will not try to kill me? - He tried to mask his laugh with a cough and it didn't work.

- By Ra`s sunglasses! PLEASE, tell me you didn't try to pet any of them? - he teased softly and humorously.

- Yeah, I did when I was nine, but it was JUST once!- Chrissy tried to hide her blushed cheeks and failed- So, you have a deal and I want to know, how will you contact me? and if we're gonna hang out, we`ll need a new name for you. Anubis is weird for literally anyone, except if it's a dog- he seems concentrated and trying to find an answer to both questions. Then he seems to remember something, searches his pockets, until he finds a ring inside his jacket and asks for her hand again with a gesture.

-Have you ever heard the story of a place called Hamunaptra?-she shakes her head in a silent “no” - It's an ancient city; now it's buried and forgotten in the Sahara sands; used to be my domain and was called the City of the Dead, used to be the house to my bracelet; An antique necropolis which was the final rest to pharaohs and their families. - he puts a golden ring with the format of a scorpion, with a jackal head with his sting ready to attack, in her middle finger - this is a little copy of my bracelet, with it you can summon me or go to any place where I am. - he gives her a little proud smile, while she just admires the ring and traces its form with the fingertips; before putting her own hand in chest and enjoying this warm feeling of matter to someone. But she fastly snaps out of her short trance to ask:

- What about your name? we`re still stuck here. - sounding a bit impatient and worried, he just shakes his hand dismissing her worries.

- Well, that's the easiest part; you can choose any name you want and it's fine with me. - she then remembers why she thought he looked a bit familiar, he seems almost identical to this man….but what was his name? Oh, yes! Eddie Van Halen. She snaps her fingers after remembering this. He stares at her like she's plotting some miraculous plan and waits for her to say something.

- Okay, so you`re gonna be Eddie. An old friend who lives in Chicago and is moving to Hawkins? - she looks at him to confirm and he nods a short “yes”.

- Sooo….- she tries to think of something else, like a thank you. But remain silent and just discard this thought. - See you tomorrow afternoon after cheer practice? - she smiles happy and he does the same.

- Yes,surely my lady! - he answers kinda excited - Oh! and I almost forget, just touch the sting of the ring three times and I will come as fast as I can to where you are. - he says, shaking his head a bit. He then snapped his fingers and smiled like a little kid, who just did something without the parents knowledge. - Now, you`re ready to go to your class and back to everyone, before they just panic.

With this, just as the world was waiting for a command to come back to normal. The sun shines once again softly against her face and all the mist slowly dissolves herself into thin air. She just lets out a heavy sigh of relief and opens the door, gets out and closes. Before going into the school building, she turns one last time and sees Anubis, or better, as he would be called now ; “Eddie” with the passenger window now open, sending a short goodbye with his hand. After she does the same, he yells:

- Say goodbye to Jason for me! - he uses his hand as a megaphone - because he's literally not going to live enough to see tomorrow comin` - and as fast as he can; he just rolls up the window again, turns to the exit of the parking lot and goes away. While Chrissy is just standing there, in shock, not having processed the last sentence he just dropped on her; while watching the black Bel Air getting smaller in the distance and slowly thinking:

[As weird as this can be, I think we're gonna be great friends and well… I can deal with this shit after all]

Little did she know, after all;

they become much more than just friends….
