So I've been playing Assassin's Creed Revelations and I know that I'm late to the party but what the fuck happened with everyone faces?!

Like, Ezio literally had a nose job between Brotherhood and Revelations!

Give Ezio back his wide, big, eagle nose!

He was hot as he was with his 'imperfect' nose.

Like. Fuck you Ubisoft! People CAN be attractive and HAVE aquiline noses!

Heck! I have an aquiline nose! Seeing a character as charismatic and attractive as Ezio made me feel better about my appearance!

Fuck me! Francisco Randez, a fucking face model of Altaïr, Ezio and Desmond HAS a bit of a prominent bridge!

Desmond looks like he's 40 with 5 kids and a mortgage to pay off. Also his eyebrows and a jaw 🤢!

We don't get to see Altaïr's face much (just like in the AC) but from the peaks I've got he also looks like he's suffering whenever exposed to even a bit of sunlight. I'm not even mentioning yet another nose plastic surgery that was performed here.

They look horrible. Give me back my old Assassin's looks.

which assassin's creed should i play first? are all games connected to each other plot wise?

no the plot kind of jumps about everywhere i’m not gonna lie. its not the most straightforward experience. you kind of get pockets of a couple of games that follow one another and then they’ll go off on another tangent. personally i would do them in release order:

ac 1 (2007) the classic the unbeatable

the ezio collection which does all link together (ac2, then brotherhood, then revelations) iconic. whore your way across italy as all men should

ac3

ac: black flag

ac: rogue (personally i think black flag and rogue are the weaker ones at this point but they’re ok. you’re not missing out if you skip them)

ac: unity (skippable. nothing really happens. they were trying multiplayer and it didn’t really work)

ac: syndicate (loved this one. felt like classic asscreed)

ac: origins (LOVED the setting and the characters but i do think it was the first ac game that kind of. moved away from the traditional elements of the series and made modern asscreed what it is)

ac: odyssey

ac: valhalla

ac: mirage (these last three kind of act as a group. haven’t played mirage yet so)

that being said i didn’t actually play them in release order myself lmao i did ac3 > the ezio games > the first one > syndicate > the earlier ones i hadn’t played > origins onward. i think a lot of people start with the ezio collection as he’s such a likeable protagonist

sorry if you’ve answered this before but I’m curious, of the Desmond games (so, AC1 through AC3) which is your favorite?

no worries, no one has asked me this before 😌 i would say revelations, clooosely followed by 1. i have a really soft spot in my heart for those games and revelations was my favorite asscreed for a long time, and tbh the main reason is the setting, (i never got super emotionally attached to ezio) i am so in love with how colorful and vibrant istanbul is, everything feels so new and different to 2 and brotherhood, i was obsessed with it straight away. the atmosphere is just breathtaking, not to mention how emotional it was to get back at masyaf (i ADORE 1) and the library scene... ICONIC and not just iconic for ac, but for the whole history of video games honestly 😭

Assassin's Creed's Protagonist Look Issue

Assassin's Creed has this real bad case of "Protagonist Look" where the player character is always the most detailed and overdesigned model in the game. It almost always comes to this point where the protag is so decked out in weaponry and custom made clothing that they stand out waaaaay more than an assassin who "hides in plain sight" should.

I get that the player character should feel special and unique, because it feels good to play and unique and interesting character, but I do wish I could go back and play a version of each game that was more dedicated to preserving the anonymity of the character: Like what if Altair genuinely only had the big knight and the hidden blade because that's all he could conceal before it got suspicious? What if Ezio had to actually look like an Italian noble and not an Italian Jedi?

Kenway gets a pass, he's a pirate and can do whatever the fuck he wants lmao.

Mods have given us the ability to experience some of that for AC Valhalla---Getting to use some of the same clothes that everyone else is wearing goes a long way to cleaning up and simplifying Eivor's visual language, and honestly some of the most fire outfits are on the NPCs anyways.

But I also wish I could rip the big bulky, and incredibly obvious hidden blades off of the characters in Syndicate, or take Ezio's plate armor from Brotherhood and toss it in the garbage (not that it's unrealistic, just very conspicuous)---and actually push those characters to look more innocuous in the incredibly repressive societies they live in.

Some of it is that Ubisoft went too hard in trying to preserve the hidden blade as an iconic and oddly necessary part of the assassin arsenal, even for characters who are allowed to be openly armed. Like, Conner and Edward Kenway didn't need hidden blades, they had guns strapped to their chests and sabers on their sides.

Bayak having a hidden blade was cool in so far as they got to explain the missing ring finger thing. At the same time though, that particular hidden blade really makes the game feel prequelly, and I kinda wish they hadn't explained the hidden blade, and just given Bayak a dagger---the same argument for why Han Solo didn't need to get the ship, the companion, and the iconic gun all in one film in Solo.

Idk, going back to the original point: A lot of the assassins in the series are just way overdesigned, and the joke that the Templars really only have to look for the white robed jedi in the crowd rings very true for me---and that rings particularly true for Conner and the Twins from Syndicate.
