who are some of your favorite booktubers? i noticed you said you watch a lot of them and i really want to start watching more!!
It’s hard to find some that you really like because it’s such a small community. I’m hoping eventually to make some videos myself!
I subscribe and regularly watch:
@jessethereader - here’s his channel
@aclockworkreader - here’s her channel
@polandbananasbooks - here’s her channel
@tashapolis - here’s her channel
gowithflick *one of my favorite channels*
Hailey in Bookland
LilyCReads
readbyzoe
padfootandprongs07
Booktubers don’t tend upload as often as the YouTubers we’re used to, so I try to follow/subscribe to quite a few. I’m still on the lookout for more! I’ve found that, depending on your favorite genres and books, you end up favoring some channels over others.

36, 37, 55, & 65 (im pretty sure I know most of the answers but I'm asking anyway ❤)
You could honestly probably answer some of these better than I could tbh but literally you’re such a babe thank you I love you
36. Favorite clean word?Okay so I’ve never really thought about this before, but lately I use the word “wild” to describe absolutely everything so it’s probably up there
37. Favorite swear word?I literally, love the word cunt. I try not to use it too frequently because I know some people find it hella offensive, but it is my fave.
55. Most used phrased?Probably “I’m so gay” or “I’m so sleepy”
65. Best dramatic movie you've seen?HONESTLY?? Probably Standing Ovation. Nothing is more dramatic than the 5 ovations, Alanna Wannabe, and rediscovering long lost parental figures. 10/10 would suffer through that movie with my best friend again.

January 2023 TBR
I truly am so excited to be back doing this. I had to remind myself on hiatus that taking a break is what I needed but I truly did miss this.
I am quite proud of the reading that I did in 2022 and I am going to push myself to read even more this year. As I have mentioned before one of my goals this year is to finish all of the series that I have started, both in 2022 and overall. Thus, many of my TBR lists this year will be full of sequels and continuations of series. I will do my best to not include spoilers but sometimes in book reviews it is just part of business.
Anyways, now that I’ve established “ground rules”, let’s get into what I want to read in the month of January!
Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
I know what I said above, I want to finish the series that I have already started and this is the first of a new series but hear me out, I have been wanting to read this for awhile and after I was finally able to FIND this book (which is more of a challenge than you would expect for a book that is nearly a decade old) I want to start it as soon as possible. You all have seen my opinion on the Mortal Instrument series but I heard that the Infernal Devices is far superior and I am just holding out for it.
Lightbringer by Claire Legrand
I have had this in at least one of my previous TBR lists and yes, I still haven't read it (hence why one of my goals is to finish series). I really loved the first two books in this series I just don’t want it to end. This is quite a large book so If I do decide to read this I will probably try to read some shorter or stand alone novels to help my brain not shut down.
Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
Now for a standalone. I actually just bought this and honestly, I wouldn’t have picked this up if Hannah (From Aclockworkreader) didn’t make a reading vlog about this novel and loved it. It seems like something I would like I am just not sure why I always gravitate towards series instead of stand-alone novels. I have this book right in front of me and I actually plan on starting it after drafting this post (remember to keep up with me on Goodreads/Instagram @jooniens !)
A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir
I started An Ember in the Ashes in November of 2022 and it has been true love. A Torch against the Night was my last read for 2022 and it was a great way to end a year of reading. This entire series has swept me off of my feet and I am so excited to keep reading, I just love these characters and this world so much. I accidentally bought this thinking that it was the second book so I had to go back to Barnes and Noble later (what a shame).
There isn’t a lot on this list because half of my Goodreads TBR has gone missing(?) I know I trimmed it down but I don’t think I had gotten rid of so much. Hopefully, I will be able to knock some of these titles off and start 2023 with some great reads.
Also, note that I will be bringing back the Mid-Month Reading updates however they will be brief posts and not as long as they were previously.
Have a very happy and safe new year!
Much Love,
June <3

(I hope im not too late ahskakw) For the purple numbers asks: 71, 61, 58, 77, 41 (phone), and 75! And feel free to answer them whenever cause oof they're a lot😅
41. it’s sano... it’s been sano for over a year now... i’ve changed the art i use, but it’s always been sano.... it makes me smile to turn on my phone and just see him there, though! this is probably not very surprising i love that cute snake demon with all of my heart
58. to the wolves by anberlin has been on repeat lately because i originally found it through a vicious playlist and since i’ve been rereading vicious, well... it just kinda popped back into my head. hostage by nothing but thieves and pathetic by blame candy are always on repeat for me! iamx’s album the alternative has been one of my biggest obsessions lately though, specifically song of imaginary beings and nightlife. i love those.
61. nothing but thieves!! i love nothing but thieves so much!! i listen to a lot of alternative rock bands mainly but nothing but thieves is by far my favorite and i highly, highly recommend checking them out! i got to see them live and it genuinely was one of the best nights of my entire life and i hope that i’ll be able to go again someday soon!
71. i’m definitely kaos from comic girls combined with norman. kaos has my social anxiety/inferiority complex/extreme emotions and norman has my self-sacrificial thing/repression of my deepest fears and feelings/physical weakness.
75. oh i love art! i watch a lot of artists on youtube, actually! i used to eat lunch in the library a lot so i would put on sketchbook tours of a few of my favorites whenever i felt like being a little less lonely so yeah, i love art! my favorite artists are drawingwiffwaffles, tamaytka, nanfe1789 (a new favorite of mine but i adore the way she draws my favorite book characters),
77. this is just going to show you all how much of a nerd i am but my favorite youtubers are booksandlala, aclockworkreader, readbyzoe, tamaytka, drawingwiffwaffles, safiya nygaard, and you suck at cooking! i’m sure there’s more but these are just the ones i thought of off the top of my head

Books I Read Because of Booklr/ Booktube
So this is another example of a popular video turned text post by me. Basically, if I had the necessary self-confidence, I’d probably be sitting in front of a camera right now, starting my Booktube career. But I am anything but, so I’d rather just take the idea, and instead of saying the words into a camera, write them down on my blog.
I understand that long text posts are less accessible to most than rambly videos, but alas, without any further ado, here are some books that I read because of Booklr and/or Booktube!
The Raven Cycle
I keeeeept seeing recommendations for The Raven Cycle! They were just everywhere! And at first, I had no intention of reading the books, because I knew they were YA and that they were fantasy/magic realism and normally I am not into that! But the Gangsey kept popping up on my dash, soon their names and even the way they looked were kind of familiar. And then somebody (I think Hannah from aclockworkreader?) said something about their amazing friendship. And if there’s a tight friend group? I’m in.
So I was in, got the first audio book, and I don’t regret it. The books were pretty fun, I liked the characters and enjoyed the series a lot more overall than I had first expected.
Six of Crows & Crooked Kingdom
Okay, so the story here is essentially the same as for TRC?? I kept seeing the characters’ names. I knew of them. I kept seeing recommendations for these books. And I was like “Ehh. They’re fantasy. They’re YA. I don’t think I’ll like them.” But then, I heard about the close group of friends and started to give in. And finally, I was pushed over the edge, bought Six of Crows on audio book and loved it! I also enjoyed the heist and the worldbuilding a lot more than I had thought!
Truly Devious
For this one, I was in almost instantly. Hannah (again from a clockworkreader) mentioned it and as soon as I heard the words “elite school” and “murder mystery” my mind went “DARK ACADEMIA” and I wanted to read it!! So I did and was… mostly happy? Though also ever so slightly disappointed because a) the style was a bit too simplistic for my taste (but it is YA, so I’m not the target audience, so it’s fine) and b) the cliffhanger almost gave me an aneurysm! But overall, no regrets. It was a fun book and I’m looking forward to The Vanishing Stair!
Daisy Jones and the Six
Again, Hannah was the one who explicitly recommended it in a way that made me want to buy it instantly! But I had seen the title and the cover around Booklr, too. Again, Hannah mentioned a close group of people with an interesting dynamic. And the interview format. And I just wanted it so badly! Again, was not disappointed overall. Did not love the ending, but all in all, it was a solid 4/5!
Radio Silence
Kat from paperbackdreams recommended this one because it’s her favourite book and she never shuts up about it and honestly, I’m glad??! I loved this one so much!! Would never have found it without Booktube, and I think I would actually count it as one of my favourites now! (So that means: All of the Dublin Murder Squad + Radio Silence! Those are my faves. That’s it.) So big thanks to Kat for recommending this gem! <3
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer
Another title which I don’t think I would have normally come across, but this one… I did not love. It made for an okay read. It kept me entertained for the most part, so I wouldn’t say I regret reading it. But the romance was too clichéd for my liking, the love interest super unoriginal, and all the paranormal kept getting taken over by the romance. So overall, this one fell a bit flat for me. Sadly.
Sadie
Oooh, this one! This one was all over Booklr and Booktube, too! I saw pictures of it, Mary from @books-and-cookies recommended it, Hannah recommended it… It sounded so interesting and so different from other YA. I got it for Christmas and I really enjoyed it! It was suspenseful, dark, sad, different… and overall just really fulfilled my expectations.
In conclusion, I tend to be sort of picky and don’t just follow any Booklr/Booktube hype, but when I have decided that a popular book might also be for me, I was hardly ever disappointed. 😊
