Every few months my brain conveniently misplaces my band class trauma and lack of skill with rock music to think about making a Dumpty Humpty concept album full of songs loosely connected to DP characters and plot events.

btw its not all events that are an issue for rosh hashanah and yom kippur. if it's something repeated or replicable i don't mind missing it. a band that plays every month, open mic night at a pub, a themed party at a bar, a renfaire that's every weekend for months, whatever. these are all non-issues.

the things that bother me more are niche events that a person could theoretically be really really excited about, that are infrequent, eg only once a year. for example, if birds are your special interest and your local bird sanctuary's big annual festival is on yom kippur. or you're into fairycore and your local once-a-year fairy craft festival and ball is on rosh hashanah. or you're really into contra dance and the regional contra dance weekend where everyone goes to a camp in the mountains together and you can't go because you're jewish.

and the things that i think it's actually really not okay to do it are professional conferences that people are required to attend because of their jobs.

It’s an online school bc it’s too late to enroll in an in-person school and stuff but anyway I get to do school from home and also take college classes on an actual college campus and I’m rly excited!!

Taeyong is enlisting on April 15th. Fans say he should be discharged December 9th 2025. Tae will be in a military band as a singer (that gives concerts to the public, btw).

Some Taeyong's fans complained about the lack of appearences on YT and TV programmes as part of the promotion, as well as blaimed SM for not giving Tae concerts around Asia, when he has time for fanmeets and fancalls.

The usual mindless outrage with no regard to the circumstances.

Taeyong was preparing his album, dances, concert at the same time as he did 127 winter activities. He was really busy and did everything out of sheer willpower and determination. When would he had time for appearences on shows, scheduling of which depends on the other party's available time as well?

Evenso, there were 4 promotional shows (including MokChu), special dance performances (Choom, Dingo, SM) and short blitz-interviews for foreign channels. Add to it special music shows waiting room interviews, Tae being a guest MC on Inkigayo and 3 songs as the performed tracks. And the fanmeets/fancalls (can't find the schedule right now, but there were around 10).

One day fans say TikTok is enough for making a star, another day they accuse an idol company of not promoting their artist well enough, heh.

As for the lack of concerts. 1) Tae needs a physical break before the boot camp, 2) preparation post-enlistment solo content (he mentioned during a fancall) and probably 127 album (Woo spoiled it is coming), 3) interviews with the military, maybe some final health checks and signing of documentation, 4) spending time with family and members.

Speaking of the members. Doyoung will send his bff off and start his solo debut. They keep missing each other's milestones this way. Well, maybe Do will be relieved, actually, lol. He doesn't like to do smth he is new at under the scrutinity of his friends.

Finally, not enough albums printed in time. It happens with SM. No, I don't believe it was intentional. An album includes a lot of small things that are made by different companies. There are many chokepoints that can slow down the production. And an album is put together manually, people who insert pocas inside the photobook can't work as fast as a printing press. Considering everything is done last minute in SM, it is of no surprise that deadlines were not met.

I was approached by a publishing company in October, they wanted a book to be illustrated by April. It's almost the initial deadline, and not a single illustration has been completed. And no, it's not my fault. The staff was naive and didn't believe me when I told they will have problems with the author and designing the final layouts on their side.

Recommendations marked with an asterisk (*) means I have no personal experience with them, but I've heard enough good things that I added them to the list.

1. Shirts/Tops

First of all, I'm a huge whore for 100% cotton, but in theory polyester will last longer. On the other hand, polyester will last forever, seeping into fish and local blood streams for millenia to come. Second of all, if you want cool graphics then I'd highly recommend doing it yourself. I'd say the easiest options for getting reliable, long lasting graphic tees are screen printing, tie dye and vinyl decals, but this depends on what resources you have access to. Keep in mind this is for shirts that you'll (hopefully) be able to wear for over a decade since really any decent cotton tee will last a decent amount of time.

Recommendations

-ASCOLOR

These are the best blank t shirts I've found, period. Stitching is great, the fabric is thick, and from what I can tell they're slightly more inclined to ethical production than your average mass produced T-shirts. They also sell nice jackets and coats as well!

I might try out a couple of pairs of pants from them to see what's up.

Band Tees

For some reason these tend to be really solid, depending on how big the artist in question is. Usually printed on Gildan, which ain't bad. They are expensive though, which means they may not be as great of a deal

This would be the section where I talked about stuff that isn't just t shirts but idk any brands that make consistently durable examples for a good price.

2. Pants

I would recommend a maximum of 1-2% elastane if you're getting skinny jeans, otherwise it's 100% cotton denim baby. Durability decrease exponentially the higher percentage of non-denim there is.

Also, I highly recommend selvage jeans if you can afford them. They use a tighter knit and are made to be worn in.

For cargo pants, get something that's thick and has ripstip material.

Recommendations

-Levi's

The lowest in price I would go tbh. I recommend the 502s since they're 100% cotton but 511s have been a staple of the street fashion world for a while. They're skinnier jeans ain't bad either, but I feel like they're starting to hit the edge of being too thin.

-The Unbranded Brand

Focused solely on getting the price of selvage jeans down to affordable levels. Fair warning, I bought a pair of black jeans (with 1% elastane) and the formaldehyde smell still hasn't gone away. I have an indigo pair that smell fine though, and besides that they're my favorite pairs of jeans.

Now most """Tactical Apparel""" stores tend to be a bit...off, but since this is a post about durable clothing, I gotta mention the probably undiagnosed autistic guys with a special interest in manly man pants. I have a pair of 5.11 Canvas Cargo Pants and I've taken these things camping, through outdoor airsoft fields, and underground deathcore moshpits. The bastards still looked mint when I finally handed them off to my partner because my ass got too juicy to wear them and gave me a blister when I spent all morning working for a landscaper. (That job was the final straw in my anti-lawn radicalization arc btw.)

To reiterate, I would look for anything that's ripstip and not paper thin. Nylon also works but the texture sucks.

3. Shoes

Always invest in whatever goes between you and the ground. This goes for mattresses and chairs as well. And for fucks sake get something that can be resoled, and find a cobbler near you. Also look up the Sam Vines Boot Theory of Economics.

Vans

Unlike converse, I've only ever bought one pair. The problem with Vans is the lack of impact absorption, something that can be fixed with aftermarket inserts in theory. Old-Skools take insoles fairly well. Their ComfyCush line is aimed at fixing this problem but I haven't tried any of them. I did get a pair of Ultraranges recently and they seem decently durable, but I've yet to really start wearing into them.

Any skate shoes in general*

Theyre made to be dragged across concrete at relatively high speeds. Try to go for suede.

Solovair*

Now, I have beef with Doc Martens since they sold out, but they're still cheap, comfortable, and made out of leather, which is all you need. Anything lower and I would argue that it's too cheap. However, they can't be resoled, they're leather is kind of thin, and they definitely have a fast fashion mindset.

Solovair is a company that uses the original factories in England to make their own line of lookalikes, for a slightly higher price and slightly higher quality. I've heard their customer service is shit.

Redwing*

I have heard nothing but praise for these. I'm going to buy a pair of Supersole 2.0s once my current pair (which didn't make the list since they kinda went downhill) finally bite it.

Danner*

Another popular recommendation for leather boots.

There is a queer owned boot brand that has canvas and leather boots that are relatively cheap and have cool art but I forgot the name

3. Socks

Chelsea boots but austrialian

Basically either get Darn Tough* or Point6 some decent socks from whatever brand works for you. I highly recommend merino wool hiking socks, and I just wear cotton socks during the summer.

Patagonia*

I'm still amazed they're this popular and have this much of a focus on sustainability and longevity. Their sibling, North Face, definitely fell into the consumerism pit years ago but Patagonia has still been chugging along.

Military Surplus

I feel a bit guilty for gatekeeping the specific companies I like, but if you go to the right places (eBay) you can get durable clothing for SUPER cheap. It's usually not the highest quality, but it's better than the same thing from an outlet mall.

Chrome

Mainly a bicycling brand, their bags are the kind of things that last a stupidly long time. The internals of them aren't amazing, mainly just an empty main cavity with a laptop sleeve and a smaller separate pocket, but all of their stuff is rock solid. They also have a solid warranty as well.

Swiss Army

Yes, the knife guys. They haven't changed their looks since the late 90s but their backpacks are designed amazingly well. They also have a limited lifetime warranty. I've noticed some cosmetic wear on mine after a few months of using it pretty roughly, thankfully it's just skin-deep stuff but it's also different to older examples I've seen. Definitely more suited towards carrying books and folders.

…actually Love Shack is on the playlist and it may stay bc it is JOYFUL and a reminder of my first and so far only pride parade where I was with all my friends in the shade on the float. So may the Abba songs. And a couple others that I’ve been surprised to hear. But generally I don’t notice the songs very much unless I hate them or the oven is off and I can actually hear.

But I’d love to hear literally any Sleep Token song. Most of them even have no swears or explicit sex references which makes it better than some of the stuff our clientele/coworkers are scandalized by!!!

Is there a reason no one talks about swing kids (2018)? I feel like it should almost be required viewing for foreigners (especially American) to recontextualize koreas recent history like yes both koreas are so much more than what the Americans did there but when the extent of media about the Korean War is quirky American medical sitcoms from the 70s and everyone and their mom is watching kdramas these days, it was very eye opening to see. A lot of dramas talk about the effect of Japanese occupation but the American occupation is very much still going on and rarely do we get commentary on it in mainstream Korean media

omg anon I love swing kids!!! truth be told I've only watched it once because it made me cry soooo much but yes it was very eye opening as I had no idea at the time I watched it that the us had had such presence and authority in korea (and I also found it interesting that it depicted a solidarity between korean prisoners in their own country and a black soldier living in a segregated society). btw the camp that the movie is set in was a real camp which saw many uprisings from prisoners happening (led by communists prisoners) that were violently repressed by the us military and it was really turned into memorial camp (as you see in the last scene of the movie when the us soldier comes back as an all man and puts his hand on the stage where they old danced together and he's the only survivor - I was bawling my eyes out at this point).

it's mainly by following @commajade that I was introduced to the reality of the us presence in Korea (historically and today) because as you said it's just never discussed wether it's western medias or kdramas. I really recommend going through their korean politics tag as you'll find many ressources on the us role in the peninsula (from the violence during the height of the korean war, to the support of the dictatorship regime, to blocking the peace negotiations between the two koreas and even their role before the japanese occupation), the massacres committed by the us army (and how they tried to erase them from history) and on the reality of the us having military bases on korean soil. as they explain, it informed the various wars that the us took part in afterwards. I was pretty shocked to learn how strong the US authority still is over the korean army (for example the singer Youngk from the band Day6 did his mandatory military service in a unit working for the US army to fill in various positions)

Discussing the reality of what the us did in korea would mean recognising that they are not indeed, and have never been, a great exemple of democracy and defendor of freedom, it goes against the core of their national storytelling concept (which was disproved, not just in korea, over the decades and is very much disproved by their current support of Israel in its destruction of the palestinian people - but they still get to present a narrative in which their violence is justified against savagery and only they know the truth of what the world needs bla bla bla) may the us regime rot. I don't know what Americans are taught about the war and their role in korea (probably something about how they saved the country and brought democracy) but in France, we barely talked about the korean war at school (I think it was mentioned as part of the lessons in the cold war? like the various ongoing conflicts between the west and the east although we did talk a little bit about the japanese occupation linked to the end of ww2 but it was a long time ago so my memory is definitely fuzzy) and it was actually through a korean friends that I learned that french soldiers had been involved and their actions were still commemorateed today in korea

QUESTIONS AND NUKES

Hello once again everyone! Wow, God is SO GOOD! We have fallen in love with this town and the opportunities here to connect with people have been outstanding. Both of our events today just about doubled in size and they were awesome! Honestly, we've stopped counting attendees because we are confident that God will bring who He wants.

Today's focus in Sports Camp was on knowing your opponent. Malia taught the lesson, continuing on with the life of Moses. One of the points that stuck out to me is that sometimes your biggest opponent can be yourself. That is so true! Thanks Malia for teaching it so we'll. She made it relatable for a wide range of ages and I think everyone got it.

We decided to eliminate volleyball because one girl was in it yesterday and she switched to basketball. There are lots of kids in basketball and four or so in football. It's been pretty fun. There are some real athletes out here!

After camp we went swimming at a pool club in Willows. Pastor Joe booked the whole pool for two hours and it was super fun. His family and another family from the church joined us. It was a great time! And btw - it was only about 97 degrees. That might sound hot, but that's 19 degrees cooler than the day we went to the lake!! Yep, that's right, it was 116 that day! The weather really had us concerned in the beginning, but it's really not bad now!

Speaking of great times - BARF Night was just the best! We certainly love our BARF Nights with tons of people, but there's also something special about having a group of less than 30, including our team. The interaction is much more personal and there's opportunity for friendships to form faster.

We played The Question Game tonight. The first time we played, Eva won! It came down to her and I and she schooled me. By the way, I'm not the type of guy to let the young people win, so it was legit.

We went outside and played Nuke 'Em again at the end of the night. It's definitely the favorite so far! The game was epic and seemed to last forever. We actually ended the night 30 minutes late!

In between the games, Marcus and Eva shared their stories. They were both very different, but each one was spot on!

When Marcus shares you cannot deny that it is from the heart. He is a young man who is serious about his faith. His relationship with God is so real. He shared boldly tonight, even about some hardships. I see him developing into a rock. He is a calm, steady leader that can be consistently relied upon. It's such a joy watching him grow up. Love you, Marcus.

Eva was also a joy. She shared boldly too, and man, she preached it! She challenged those in the crowd to choose Jesus over anything else on earth! This is Eva's first trip with us because in the past she wasn't really interested in coming. God did an amazing work in her heart several months ago and she fully committed her life to Him. Praise the Lord!

I already told you that Eva preached it, and to prove it let me tell you what Pastor Joe's son Sebastian said after she shared. I walked back up, and he looked at me and said "you're about to lose your job!" LOL! How cool is that?!?!

Way to go Eva! Nicole and I are honored to be a part of your life and growth!! We are praying that you remain in Him for life!!

Also, Bailey bought some Beanboozled Jelly Bellys at the factory the other day. If you don't know what those are - DON'T GET THEM!! They convinced me to play the game with them and I had the absolute joy of eating a jelly belly flavor titled something like "Used Band Aid".

In our family time tonight we challenged ourselves to take the conversations a little deeper. We are even discussing ways that we can help this happen. We will likely have a little more "hang out" time during BARF Night to allow relationships to develop. Please pray for God to open up doors for this to happen!

Hi anon! So this is probably very specific to my experience today and I’m not sure if they same girls are going to be helping with the test of the Rosemont shows or if you’re one of the Calif shows but essentially, this is how it worked today for us: There were a group of girls who are fans who were working with VIP Nation and Allstate Arena to essentially agree that as long as VIP fans lined up, camped appropriately and complied with what they were asking us, they would honor the camping/early lineups that they had before we were supposed to queue.

That being said, we got there at 5 AM this morning and moved the line around a few times to accommodate for people getting single file. At about 8 AM they moved us all in a single file line (there’s a video on twitter of a bunch of sections of lines holding hands to prevent skipping and cutting) and led us around the building to the VIP entrance where we were then in a queue system in bike racks in the SAME exact order we had been in since 5 AM. They started check in early at 9 am and we were through the line and done by 10:30 am.

For reference, I got there at 5 AM and my wrist band was number 287, but they had two ladies passing out wrist bands when you got in and one had bands starting at 300 and the other 200 and we got lucky and ended up on the 200 side.

For the actual sound check, you will line up for early entry WITH merch at 3:30 pm and you will all enter the building as one and then will find your entry aisle posted on the wall. It was done like 1-100, 101-200, 201-300 etc. A ‘host’ will be standing at your aisle to put you in numerical order of your wristband and then lead you down to the floor when it’s your aisles turn to go. Once you get to the floor, they let you choose where you watch the show from.

Hope this helps for anyone going to a show! Again, I don’t know that the angel who organized everyone is doing it for any more shows, but they were super helpful and the staff at Allstate/VIP Natinon were WONDERFUL today!

wait.. if you’re willing could you go more into depth of why warped sucked. i never got to go to warped so i wouldn’t know.

sorry i totally missed this from last night! but yes ofc. disclaimer i personally never went to warped (though many of my friends did around 2014-14 when they were in middle school). i also don't Hate warped tour, it's an important part of third wave history and a traveling all ages show is actually a pretty great idea imo.

that being said most of the issues with warped are a result of bad policy and mismanagement. first and foremost, warped was predicated on this idea that "any band could play at any time" (names would be drawn for determining stage sets). combined with the fact they would be playing a lot of back to back shows, after insane travel. most bands just. they didn't perform well! and with how hard the techs had to work the sound stage sucked. for bands that aren't 2005 my chemical romance, the pay apparently sucked- it was a fest where you destroyed your body and banked on exposure. i think this is a bad way to run a fest!

second of all, every issue people have with wwwy and the lack of women is v much a symptom of warped's problems. notoriously bad at booking women to the point shiragirl camped out in 2004 (in a sparkly rv btw- sorry I hate this) to advocate for an "all-girl" stage. The solution, the shiragirl stage was almost worse imo- a stage smaller than the rest sectioned off from the rest of the fest and covered in pink. easy to ignore if you don't care and it subsequently has been in the minds of warped tour attendees. unless you were paramore, the chances of women getting on main stages were incredibly slim.

warped/lyman also was just generally accepting of abhorrent behavior- from allowing conservative assholes like guttermouth to play and harass other bands for being "fags" to letting a pro-life tent onto the org advocacy grounds. but the worst and easily the sticking point of a lot of criticism of warped is the complete blindspot with sexual violence, both in terms of letting bands with accusations play and in terms of violence/harassment in the crowds. considering the age of many of warped's attendees, imo, this is incredibly egregious

this is getting too long there is more to say about the culture/band change at the turn of the decade and lyman being a punk ass bitch saying "scene politics" caused ppl to not want to do warped anymore but at the end of the day warped is never coming back bc paying $40 for a fest ticket is impossible unless you aren't paying bands and staff or your whole operation is beholden to monster energy

OKAY SO I FEEL MENTALLY ILL ENOUGH TO DO THIS /silly :3 here comes an infodump about twrp, let's fucken goooo (most of these are headcanon/fanon based)

SO. the band started in 2008 actually. but lore-wise, doctor sung (vocals, synthesizer/keyboard) met havve hogan (drums) three millennium ago, at a drum camp. people headcanon them to be connected by mental link (as havve hogan doesn't talk). also at their quarantine live stream shows, they began calling havve martha, as in superman's mother's name MARTHAAA. it makes me giggle so much.

but at the same time, meouch was,,, space pirating around. and among the space pirating he did, he traveled and brought the drug version of funk to lord phobos' planet, causing mayhem. in his drug addled haze, he severely hurt phobos (we headcanoned phobos as a moth-based alien before his EP phobos II, where he began talking and was described as a robot, dunno how the lore makes sense but. who knows)

and somehow they became friends, and now are vibing as protectors of the universe and rock'n'roll best friends (a great song by them btw)
