Dropping the very highly and frequently requested scene for my latest Sketch-a-Wish, voted on by my lovely Patreon members for November! Featuring Lila and Kell from A Darker Shade of Magic by @veschwab ! This was probably the funniest scene in the book and I've been wanting to illustrate it for the longest time. It was actually the runner-up scene for the @Illumicrate ADSOM mug, way back when!

I mostly only buy multiples of books and series that I really, really love, but sometimes I end up with multiple editions by accident ��� 😅 As with the series above … I ordered the UK version of the paperback on accident, but ended up loving it so much that I ordered the rest of the UK series. ❓ What book was your last reading disappointment? Usually, I write reviews only on books I liked and enjoyed reading because it feels nice to share some positive thoughts and promote such books. And I rarely write about disappointments, because I don't want to spoil the fun for people who love these books and it's harder to write critique reviews. But in previous months I've been receiving some comments from you about books I was reading at the moment and requests to share my opinion when I finish. And if I liked the book I did it, but if not, you've just never seen my opinion. Now I think it's not really the best approach to the book blog, so I'll try to share different thoughts. So let's start with my last disappointment - A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E.Schwab. I adored the concept and the synopsis of this book so much. The cover was amazing too and it almost screamed to me how cool it was. And the reviews of this book were really good. But then I read this book and felt literally nothing. I wasn't excited to see what next, I wasn't nervous and didn't sympathize with the characters, I wasn't intrigued. In the end, this book felt like a concept of the book, not the real book. The ideas of characters were interesting and unusual, but they didn't feel alive to me in this story. The magic system and worlds were great as an abstraction but weren't developed deep enough in the book. And the plot was rather dynamic, but it didn’t catch my attention. I didn't feel the atmosphere in this book and I think that's why it wasn't real for me. I wasn't bored and finished this book, and there were some properly written action scenes and a nice mystery. Also, I enjoyed some funny moments. I haven’t read a book in 2 years 🙈 and I previously loved reading, but the weight of just all this *gestures wildly* stuff and the fatigue, and everything that goes along with a chronic illness impeded me. But this year I was determined to read at least ONE full book, and the book I chose was V.E. Schwab’s A Darker Shade of Magic. Once I pushed through the first few pages, I was hooked! I finished it in only a few days. I loved it and I’m now on the third book of the series. Obviously I am entirely obsessed with this series and I really wanted to do some nail art inspired by it and this is what I came up with.
