It takes a moment or three for Adelaide to respond, but by now you are used to this little lapse in time as she ponders your words. Humming under her breath, she reaches up for a jar of herbs and skips back to the table where her dough lies in scattered flour.

It’s a late autumn afternoon and the sky is already going dark, aided by a sturdy blanket of clouds. There’s a powerful wind over the island and the trees outside are bowing to it, occasionally spattered by spits of rain. The little house grumbles around you but, as ever, stands firm against the weather, keeping its homelings safe and dry. Adelaide is untroubled by the wind, and has even stopped her breadmaking now and then to watch its effect on the land outside.

Now she sprinkles herbs over the dough and begins to knead them in, her hands strong and careful. “I suppose it depends,” she says thoughtfully, “on what you count as a pet.”

A surge of wind rumbles the house’s walls and Adelaide looks up for a moment. She is no longer scared by storms of this scale, and only interest shows in her eyes. Then she returns to the dough; turns it, sprinkles in more herbs, folds it over.

“I think a pet tends to be an animal you keep in your house, in general understanding. And Father isn’t too keen on creatures inside – especially since I brought in that little dazed sparrow a few years ago. He didn’t like that.” Her tone is light, touched with laughter, but not entirely untroubled. She shrugs and continues. “By that definition, the frogs, newts, waterboatmen and little fish of the pond wouldn’t count as pets, though I spend much of my time with them. I’m not sure they care much for my company, mind you,” she adds with a smile.

“I do like the chickens,” she muses, now splitting the dough into smaller pieces and rolling them into balls. “They have such an endearing manner, and such lovely voices. Their presence comforts me; I grew up around them – and the little chicks in spring!” She smiles broadly as she arranges the balls of dough on a tray. “I hope I shall never have to live without chickens.”

“She is very fond of the chickens,” says a smiling voice – you turn to see Henry standing in the doorway. “Would you like me to take those to the oven, Abigail?” he asks.

“Yes, please, Papa,” Adelaide chirps, handing him the tray. And, turning to you, as Henry leaves, “They ought to be ready by evening. We might have them with dinner! You’ll stay, won’t you?”

You glance at the rising storm outside, and tell her you may not have a choice.

“Oh, of course! I’m sure Fathers won’t mind you staying the night. I kept the extra blankets, if you don’t mind sleeping on the floor?”

Of course you don’t. Satisfied, Adelaide washes her hands in the filled basin on the floor and skips out of the room. She returns a moment later with her embroidery.

You join her as she settles crosslegged on the floor, and watch as she turns the cloth in her hands to reorient herself to her progress. She hums under her breath as she takes the needle precisely between her fingers and sets to work.

“If you allow a little flexibility in the definition of a pet,” she says after a while of pleasant silence, “Mrs O’Halley’s bees would certainly be worth mentioning.” She bounces her knees and smiles. “She’s ever so kind, letting me help her with them. I bring her bread sometimes, and she lets me sit by the hives and watch them. They are so gentle, my friend! So kind and inquisitive!”

“Such is your word,” says a deep voice from beyond the door. A moment later, Ambrose stoops into the room.

“Ambrose doesn’t like bees,” says Adelaide, lifting her nose disapprovingly.

“With reason,” he retorts. His voice has little emotion, as is custom for him, but it has an odd quality of drawing attention. Whenever he speaks, you are given to listen.

“Hardly.” Adelaide tosses her hair over her shoulder and returns loftily to her embroidery.

Ambrose looks at her, his dark red hair wreathing the sides of his face. His expression is indiscernible. “You have not been stung.”

“I am stung by your slander of an innocent species,” Adelaide says, sneaking you a smile that Ambrose, behind her, is not privy to.

Ambrose moves further into the room. He draws a small breath, as if to reply, but lets it out again. Then he says, “Did Papa take your bread?”

“Yes,” Adelaide chirps, all haughtiness gone from her voice in an instant. “Oh, by the way, our friend here is staying for the night. They’ll join us for supper.”

“Alright,” says Ambrose. You’ve rarely seen him smile, but he gives the impression of warmth towards you. He stands for a moment longer, and then joins the pair of you on the floor a small distance away. A kind of peace spreads slowly over his face as he watches Adelaide sew.

Darkness blooms gradually as the hour and clouds move on. Ambrose stands to light a lamp for Adelaide to see by, but the room is otherwise still for some considerable time. Despite their disagreement on bees, the fondness between Adelaide and her brother is tangible, and you are quite content sitting absorbed in the richness of their silence.

By the time Henry comes in to prepare supper, you have almost lost yourself in its peace.

A/N: Hello! I didn’t introduce myself the first time, I’m a horny goblin who only posts raunchy things after midnight when they’ve had their fill on fluff posts. “Come, sit down. I’ll have Lao make you some tea.” Raiden took her hand and guided her to the couch. He then walked away, probably to find the aforementioned man. He returned with him in tow before they split ways: Raiden back to Adelaide’s side and Lao to the kitchen.

Instead of sitting on the couch beside her, he took a spot in front of her facing away from the television. She was about to ask what he was doing but he silenced her with a look that said “Let me do this for you”. He began rolling up the leg of her dress pants and began massaging her calves and feet.

Adelaide let out a long sigh at the relief he was providing her before Lao came out with her tea. She also gave him a peck on the lips for his service and invited him to sit next to her.

“Thank you boys. I would rather not think for the remainder of the day.”

It was already late into the afternoon, basically transitioning into the evening. The good thing was that it was Friday, so Adelaide did not have to get up early from the comfort of Johnny’s king bed and untangle herself from the limbs of four different people.

“I need a nap.” Adelaide announced to seemingly no one.

Lao chuckled, “You sound like one of those bootleg devices when they need to be charged,” he stated before he mimicked the “Battery low” announcement.

Adelaide and Raiden laughed with him and she set the teacup on the coffee table before resting her head on Lao’s lap. He gingerly ran his hands through her hair. Raiden, who finally joined on the couch, still rubbed circles into her calf which allowed her to drift into sleep.

When she awoke, before she even opened her eyes, she was met with the sound of conversation. She made out Raiden and Lao’s voice with the addition of two others. She opened her eyes to see that Johnny and Kenshi had joined the relaxing session. Johnny spotted her first.

“She’s alive!” He proclaims, as if he was Dr. Frankenstein.

Rubbing her eyes and sitting up, Adelaide asked, “How long was I out?”

“Only about 30 minutes. We ordered takeout in the meantime if you don’t mind.” Kenshi held up his phone to show the status of the order.

As if on cue, Adelaide’s stomach growled.

“What’re we getting?”

“That place that sells both Chinese and Japanese cuisine.” Raiden stated, now with a hand on her thigh, still rubbing soft circles.

Johnny had gotten up from his position on the other couch with Kenshi before pushing Kung Lao out of the way, plopping himself next to Adelaide.

“Hey!” Lao said in an offended manner.

“Your cuddle time is up, Panda. I haven’t seen her all day and she’s my agent.” Like a child, Johnny stuck his tongue out. Also like a child, Kung Lao crossed his arms over his chest and pouted.

“Speaking of,” Kenshi rose too.

“Noooo.” Raiden slumped down, using dead weight to his advantage as Kenshi tried lifting him away from Adelaide.

“Raiden, I swear to the Elder Gods —“ Kenshi grumbled through grit teeth as he dragged Raiden off the couch. “Are you seriously Earthrealm’s champion?”

Raiden accepted defeat as Kenshi managed to drag him off the couch and onto the floor before plopping himself down in his previous seat.

“You are all hopeless.” Adelaide smiled as she cradled Johnny and Kenshi’s heads. At the same time, Kenshi and Johnny turned their faces to her and gave her a sloppy kiss on the cheek.

Checking her watch, she say that it was only 7 PM. “How long ‘til the food gets here?”

Kenshi checked his phone again, “35 minutes.”

She arose suddenly, causing the cuddle pile to collapse in and Johnny to let out a dejected whine.

“Don’t worry, I’m just going to take a quick shower.” She pat his head.

“Without me?” All the men said in unison.

“You guys are gross.”

After performing her usual routine, Adelaide came back downstairs to the living room much more comfortable. She wore one of Kenshi’s sweatpants that she had to roll up a few times and one of Raiden’s shirts that came down to her the middle of her thigh. She was just in time to see Raiden receiving multiple bags of food.

While she was distracted, Kenshi came up from behind and gave her a little tap on her ass.

“Looking good.” Kung Lao added who saw the quick interaction.

“You know, if you weren’t my agent, I’m sure someone would scout you for a model.” Johnny cooed.

She was positioned between Raiden and Johnny while Kenshi laid in between Kung Lao’s legs, his head on his stomach.

“You’re thinking too much, my love.” Raiden went back to circling her thigh. Adelaide tried not to think about how high his hand was.

“I’m just saying…” her voice turned shy.

One of the actors in the movie began monologuing, which meant it was prime time for conversation.

Kenshi looked up from Lao’s lap and asked Adelaide about her day as he and Johnny weren’t around when she said the first time.

“I’m a little stressed. Most people don’t take me seriously so I have to be a hard ass and my brain has to be on all the time.”

Johnny wrapped a hand around her waist before cooing over her more.

“Aww poor baby. If they disrespect you let me know and I’ll be sure they are blacklisted.” He finished with a kiss to her neck.

Fighting a moan, Adelaide responded “I can take care of myself.”

Lao spoke next, “ But you always take care of everything. You take care of us, Johnny in more ways than one. He’s hopeless without you.”

Adelaide could barely make anything out of their words of affirmation as Raiden’s hand was ridiculously close to her core, still rubbing tight circles into her skin. She also realized that Johnny’s breath was on her neck.

Raiden set things in motion when his hand broke the waistband of the pants she was wearing. He laughed when he found out that was all she was wearing.

“We still have some food left.” Johnny said.

“Please and thank you.” Kung Lao, after dropping the clothes in the hamper, was already on his way to the kitchen.

“Oh, now he knows his manners.” Raiden rolled his eyes, but followed him.

“You stay here and we’ll bring you what you want.” Johnny adjusted the sweatpants he was given.

“Any requests?” Kenshi peaked his head from the refrigerator.

“Orange chicken.” Feeling more like her normal self, Adelaide stretched, but made no move to stand.

In a few moments, they all returned to the couch with their food.

“Any suggestions seeing as the last movie watched us?” Raiden was now in control of the remote.

“Put on ‘The Lion King’, we’ll feel less inclined to temptation.” Adelaide smiled as she leaned against Lao with her feet in Kenshi’s lap.

A little sneak peak of what I've been working on. So far, this is the progress made over the course of 4 days~

Today I finally got down Addie's stand. Her name is Deep Sea, and yes she is based on Shinkai Shoujo (aka Deep Sea Girl).

Original, official artwork was used and frankensteined in order to get the art style as accurate as possible. The upper body for Deep Sea is actually from Spice Girl, while the front and back display for Adelaide is a mix between Jolyne, Foo Fighters, and Gwess. The hair for all three references were traced over from her mmd model so that they would be accurate as all heck.

Bonus Fun fact: While he won't admit it, Dio is afraid of her stand because he is afraid of being stuck back at the bottom of the sea.

on the topic of michy, her name is accidentally a nod sorta to her relationship with mingus. since her last name is knight . you can make the connections there but it was Not intentional on my part i just happened to name her that (just like i. named her michelle before finding out that was mingus' original name HJSHBAVJDSAB) and my qpp cress pointed out the potential for it

speaking of names, i got inspired to pick jacksons name based on a tiktok i saw while creating him, with a character named 'chase wood'. i thought it was Really Funny but didnt want to directly rip either of those names so got to work thinking of something. i took the name jackson from the song that sort of inspired his personality (called "jackson, you are dying" by picture us tiny) and grabbed the last name coxx after seeing a randomly generated npc in a video i was watching to complete the joke

also charlie got his last name the same way jackson did in the sense of a random npc in a game video i was watching had it and i thought it was good enough. while i was trying to figure out what kind of name to give him (hed already had the name charlie for a good while, since he was a generic objecthead oc i had but decided should Become a dt one) a character named 'warden steiner' was mentioned like. once. and i thought that sounded close to frankenstein and was like. yeah thatll be cool

also kara has a second major nondateable technically. she may or may not get scrapped bc shes genuinely horrible (i hate. writing her. i made her design pretty nice but i just actually hate her BHJSJHABJD), but shes a rival from karas pageanting days who would lead to two different bad ends if she became real, one of which is. a death end for kara. i dont wanna go into full detail bc again its likely to get scrapped just bc i literally hate the rival but tldr kara gets shot(? or smth idk she eats absolute shit either way) during a performance because the rival convinced the player that the only way to help kara realize performing isnt for her was to sabotage it and it goes Wrong. the other bad end is just kara trying to warn the player that the rival isnt good to hang around and eventually cuts off from the player which would lead to the shit yourself and die end bc player probably gets thrown under the bus by the rival during smth. most likely in a literal sense

i wanna talk about mechanics some now uhhhhhhhh ok so on the topic of 'major nondateables'

i have probably explained how it works before but in order for a character to qualify as a 'major nondateable' they have to 1. heavily effect the route [to the point of interactions with them being able to change its course] and/or 2. heavily influence the route's dateable's thoughts/actions/general motivations during it, sometimes both. they also CANNOT be another dateable in a different route. if i were to apply this to in-game characters for example, mr dickens would be a major nondateable from olivers route, and mayor mingus would be a major nondateable from norms. the majors dont have to have an active presence near the dateable during the route, they just have to apply to the above guidelines. these are the reasons why characters like exie, adelaide, stephan, stop, etc are not considered major nonedateables, because while they are close with the dateables from the routes they have a presence in, they do not change the route or motivate the dateable toward anything. charlie actively changes the route and clearly has a big sway over lillith, oakey would be mentioned several times by kara as a reasoning for why she says or does certain things during her route, and juniper - despite not being close to margo - has the ability to effect the outcome of the route.

and not every route Has to have one obviously . and there are some that would Technically be major nondateables for each other (ex. murr and roe, isaac and vinnie) but Because the other half of the pair is also dateable in a separate route, they do not qualify

also smth i dont think ive talked abt much is the fact that yes outis genuinely does call the ocean his wife. i mentioned he does that a few times when i first made him but there would be several points in his route where he does this (its mostly joking but there would be points where hed be talking abt it and say smth like 'i love my wife a lot but she scares me very much'). also originally i was going to give him a shark tooth on his necklace, based on the one i have irl, but the story for my irl one is a guy punched it out of a sharks mouth and i think if outis found out about that hed start crying and would not want anything to do with it. so shell necklace it was

also the two instances the petstore would show up in are once in outis' route and once at the end of murrs. for outis, you would be accompanying him to his shift that day, and brainstorming ideas for what you can do to try and figure out how to help him overcome his anxiety. kiki would approach you once you arrive and would spend a moment interrogating the player on who they were and what their intentions with her friend were, and would occasionally chime in with her opinion while you talk to him. in murrs route, youre taking him there to introduce him to the idea of maybe getting a pet he can dote on. after he doesnt really connect with any of the animals there would be a little interaction with twerpy where he gives the two of you directions to the shelter that their sister works at and he decides hell go sometime alone. (he ends up getting a cat, her name is darling and hed kill for her. you dont get to meet her bc murr and roe still dont show up in ch3/4 but she Exists)

murrey is a firm believer in the concept of true love and believes hes found it multiple times in the past, and absolutely Despises the thought that some people have of only being able to really find it Once. during his route thats what hes chasing (there would be a point where he complains hes gone so long without feeling true love that he intends to find it again, and the player has the option to tell him you can only find it once - which would start you down one of his bad ends), and the thought that its something you can only obtain once and never again makes him incredibly miserable.

murr is also entirely aware that there are different kinds of true love, but hes been stewing in his loneliness for so long that the romantic kind is the only one his brain will allow him to focus on. this is why his good end sort of helps remind him of that along side dealing with his loneliness in healthier ways

also adelaide has a side job at the shelter as well. when you meet her with margo and juniper in chapter 4 shed mention something about murr adopting darling and inform you that hes a lot happier now that he has the cats company. also margo and juniper are doing better after your help as well bc margo is getting a bit better at communicating and juniper is trying to be less. [gestures vaguely] . shes still an ass bc thats just her but yknow what i mean

also im thinking about making michy my only dateable that shows up in chapter 3. everyone else's interactions that would be in ch3 have been moved to 'chapter 4' but she was my first gal i think she deserves her spot there. youd meet her with norm while heading down to the subway and shed run up to you two after recognizing his voice (shed talk about being on her way to a date with her partners, i Wanna make them show up in person but as they both belong to friends of mine im not confirming anything really bfhdjbfdjs) and talk about how after your help to get out of her parasocial issue shes found true love and is focusing more on her friendships and her happiness. :-]

also funfact i have partial scene scripts for stephan and stops routes somewhere on my laptop. they were both going to be dateables at one point and i wrote a little about what mightve happened + pieces of a scene from each but idk if ill be able to find them nor will i ever show them if i do probably but they are there. somewhere

Disney Requests REview : The Aristocats

Requested by @goodanswerfoxmonster ,Im gonna talk about the Aristocats .This one is actually a childhood favorite of both of us ,and he wanted to know what I think of the movie as an adult .It is true this was a favorite of mine as a youngster,its definately the 70's Disney film I latched onto the most .As I got older I have found it has people who dismiss it or straight up dont like it ,however.....I still like it,despite completely getting why people wouldnt latch onto it

This 1970 film follows Duchess (Eva Gabor ) a mother cat with three kittens ,all set to inherit a large fortune from their owner the former opera singer  Madame Adelaide Bonfamille (Hermoine Baddley ),when they are kidnapped and abandoned in the French country side by the butler Edgar (Roddy Maude-Roxby ) ,who seeks the fortune himself ,so the cats gain the help of a street wise alley cat Thomas O'Malley (Phil Harris ) who guides them on their way back to Paris

So lets start with what doesnt work,I feel for Edgar too much .See EDgar is a good loyal butler,and only turns on the cats cause he is afraid they will outlive him.Its not like he hates the cats or wants to kill them ,he is just a desperate guy ,and while I love our heroes ,I'm sorry but I get Edgars motive.SEe if the will said he'd have to take care of the cats to get the money and he didnt want to ,that would be one thing but no ,the cats are inheriting FIRST and he only gets the money after they die .I think what they needed to do was make him MORE resentful or MORE greedy .I ve seen some of the early stuff about Edgar which emphisize him as a manipulator and a greedy monster ,and wish they went that direction (Also originally he was going to be played by Boris Karloff and Elsa Lanchester was going to play a maid with a crush on him ,wouldnt that have been fun ,have a Frankenstein reunion ) .I also just think as an antagonist hes just bad ,hes got his funny momrnt but there is just no menace

Also be warned one of the characters is a Chinese sterotype

That said I like the rest of the movie .This film is low stakes so it is a pretty light and fun watch ,got a chill vibe to it . I like the wacky side characters especially a energetic yet very elderly lawyer George (Played by legendary character actor Charles Lane ) and the drunkengoose Uncle Waldo (Played by Disney veteren Bill Thompson in his final role ) .There are two funny chase sequences involving Edgar and two dogs voiced by Pat Butram and George Lindsey ,that are highlights of the film .My absolute favorite scene however is when we meet Scat Cat voiced by the legendary Scatman Crothers who treats us to the ver underrated "Everybody Wants To Be A Cat ",its a hell of a fun show stopper and best part of the film

I also really adore our two leads ,Eva Gabor and Phil Harris deliver good performances ,O'Malley in particular has a swagger about him I like(With a great intro song ) and I legit think they have one of the most belivables and swettest romances in Disney

1. What do you think of the character animation? I always felt that the kittens didn’t move like kittens—don’t get me wrong, nothing wrong with the designs, but at best they move like adult cats. Oliver from Oliver and Company is how kittens move.

You know what i've been thinking about? If Aaron was raised on the island, what would his accent be? Cause you see all those studies of the people of multiple countries coming together in remote places having children and their accents are something unheard of. Totally new accent. So by that would Aaron's accent be something like that? A mash of British/Australian/American/Korean/Iraqi/ whatever is wrong with Ben, like a totally new accent. Of course, I'm just condensing like Sawyer has his YeeHaw accent and Mike has a more New York, Hurley is Mexican and while he has an American accent in English when Speaking Spanish It's probably not that sooooo I'm just so curious on if they never left what the fuck their accent would be like. Plus, if they stayed on the island and Jin Suns kid was born there and in the future more babies would they inherit the same accent? Like say in this scenario Juliet/Sawyer or Kate/Jack or even fucking Charlie/desmond had children would they too inherit this new dialect/Accent thats contained to them only?Like would they create their own unique accent?, and when Aaron gets older he gets with Ji Yeon (which is so funny like the show runners were like yeah at the end they're still watching Bluey, we should totally imply they get together as adults) So if they hypothetically do get together in this idea where they never leave the island would their children help develop this complete unique accent?

funnily enough, you're pretty much describing what caused the australian accent to begin with. they plopped a ton of english and irish people here, added alcohol and a brand new fucked up way to talk was born

yes, studies show that a child's accent comes more from their enviroment more than their parents! hence why i have an adelaide aussie accent rather than my mum's southern english accent. because i grew up here. this also explains why daniel sounds american as opposed to his english mother. thats actually how it works (tho daniel also went to oxford during his teens so he should sound at least a bit more english but be glad we were spared jeremy attempting that)

okay so, i think in regular world of lost, aaron grows up to have an american accent but with aussie turns of phrase. because i imagine aaron to be raised by claire and kate, in america. and also sawyer, miles, richard and frank are part of his life too. so claire is really outnumbered here. but he refers to her as "mum"

in this au where everybody stays on the island forever? ...probably still american because holy shit theres a lot of americans on this show but you're right, it could be at least a little muddled. i don't think it'd turn into an immediate frankenstein melting pot of aussie, england (north and south), american (yeehaw and otherwise), korean, iraqi and scottish because thats not exactly how accents work, it would take longer. but certain words and phrases would mix in aaron and ji yeon's (and the other hypothetical babies) little brains. and like certain pronunciations would probably be off. like, they'd be somewhat uncanny. also it's probable that these versions of aaron and ji would be so fucking good at accent impressions. oh and in this world, i like to think aaron can speak korean because he'd hear it around him a lot

so i think yeah the next gen in that AU would sound like,,, kinda weird sounding americans? so basically canadians

i've done my own recreational study of linguistics and phonetics in my time but i'd love to hear about this from somebody who knows more about this stuff than me. that'd be neat

also bless you for taking the take to adknowledge that not all the american accents are the same in this show (or in real life). i know i glide past it sometimes but its a fact i'm very aware of too

i will take the opptunity to once again say that while hurley's voice is whiny american when he's speaking english (in a cute way! no dunk!), when he's speaking spanish his voice is absolutely beautiful

i realise that spanish accent > american accent isn't exactly a hot take but it blows me away because its coming out the same guy
