my brain has been almost entirely consumed by knitting and crochet the past few weeks and I don't really know what to do about it. plus I've been working on my term paper for Ancient Egypt, which has taken up a lot of my brain space as of late
went to the Museum of Natural History today and I got a mammoth plush!
Tumblr media
her name's Lana since it means "down, soft fleece, wool". plus it follows Tullia the Leopard Shark that I got last year for my birthday
#Ryn rambles#she's so soft I love her so much!!!#just stick my face in her head and neck fluff when I'm upset#or pet her ears because WOW both are SO SOFT#if you don't wanna hear me ramble about my plushies that's fine just ignore the rest of the tags#I just love them all very much okay#so far I have:#Bruna the sea otter (meaning 'brown')#Inverness the African wild dog and her pup Princess (named for a documentary I saw on them when I was in high school)#Tullia the Leopard Shark (because I think it's funny to name her after Cicero's daughter given their territory includes Cataline Harbor)#Nebula and Strawberry the dragons (it's just their appearances)#the lung dragon my mom got me from Vegas is probably gonna end up as Ch'en because I need at least one plush named after Arknights#Aurelia the bald eagle (Aquilla is a bit too on the nose for me)#a tiger I just realized doesn't have a name whoops I should fix that#and now Lana the mammoth!#oh! almost forget William who's a replica of the famous faience hippo on display at the MET#technically there's also Rainbow the build-a-bear rabbit; Marie from Aristocats; a special edition Winnie the Pooh#a bear named Snowflake and a knock off Jiji plush#but they're up on top of my bookcase so I don't count them as being fully accessible#I've got a whole box full of plushies in my closet including: a Colonial Williamsburg dress up doll; a Angelina Ballerina; a buffalo#Kanga and Roo; a whole bunch of Beanie Babies (plus one my mom needs to give me but that's not the point)#and an assortment of random plushies like Bijou and Hamtaro#I know I have a mini neopets plush I got from McDonalds in elementary school in my bag at all times#and a little cream and pink bunny named Marshmallow

what kind of books do you like, Sir? any recommendations? I’m almost done with the book i’m reading now - Black Leopard, Red Wolf by Marlon James.
All sorts, doll. I particularly enjoy crime, mystery, horror and thriller genres.
At the moment, the princess pup and I are reading through Lapvona at bedtime. So far very good, twisted and delightfully dark.
Black Leopard, Red Wolf sounds very interesting. As a recommendation for when you complete it, check out Tracks by Louise Erdrich. As Black Leopard, Red Wolf draws from African history and mythology, Tracks contains Native American history and mythology. Really a powerful read. I enjoyed it greatly.
If anyone has book recommendations in the previously mentioned genres for me or my pup to check out, my inbox is always open for them. We quite enjoy our bedtime stories.

The 4th House Experience Pt. 1:
(The Ugly Duckling)
Case Study: Lilo Pelekai
“Home is where the heart is.” - Anonymous
“Home is not where you live, it is where you belong.” - African Proverb
Tumblr media
Out of all the water houses (4th, 8th and 12th), the 4th house is given the least amount of attention in online astrology circles, ironic considering that is the only one of the three houses to also serve as an angular house. It doesn’t share the dark, esoteric reputation that makes the 8th and 12th houses such popular houses, but just because it deals with relatively “lighter” topics such as family, the home, ancestry, roots and history doesn’t mean that it isn’t deep. As a matter of fact, one could argue that it is the deepest of the water houses seeing that it is the only one below the horizon. When I first delved into astrology, admittedly the 4th house was not one that garnered much of my attention and for a while I actually considered it one of the more boring of the astrology houses but upon further growth, study and reflection the depths of it became very apparent.
And they were presented perhaps no better than the little girl whose character won me over more than any Disney princess both as a kid and now.
Tumblr media
The movie lilo and stitch ironically starts with Lilo swimming in the depths of the ocean. She rushes from the beach to make it to her hula dancing lesson. Upon getting there she is immediately singled out for being late, being wet and the seemingly strange explanation of why she had to feed the fish Pudge a peanut butter sandwich as he has control of the weather. Her instructor nor the other girls in the class understand the reasoning behind why her routine with Pudge the fish is so important and ostracize her, with the defacto leader of the small girls’ group Myrtle going as far as to call her “crazy.”
And immediately getting her ass beat because of it.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately Lilo is ostracized by her peers, robbed of a sense of belonging from a very young age. Aside from her sister, her sole sense of belonging comes from her doll “Scrump” whose appearance scares the other girls and further causes her to feel like a misfit.
Tumblr media
Later in the story we get the explanations to her seemingly strange behavior, we see that her Tuesday routine with Pudge and the importance of him controlling the weather comes because her parents died while driving in the rain. Her being nostalgic and an old soul sets her apart, her favorite artist being Elvis Presley. She latches onto “Scrump” because she is lonely and has no friends. She makes a wish on what she thinks is a shooting star and prays for a friend (wishes being an 11th house theme) and she is sent Stitch, an alien posing as a pet dog, fitting considering pets are a 6th house theme and the 4th house being 6 spaces from the 11th house. Although he too is different, something that uneases her older sister Nani almost immediately, and does not seem like a normal dog, Lilo embraces him from the very beginning, again speaking to Lilo’s nature to offer other misfits a sense of belonging like she herself doesn’t have.
Tumblr media
The two misfits go on a series of adventures around the island, but even in that we can still see Lilo’s desperation to belong as she apologizes and still attempts to befriend the girls who have bullied her and treated both herself and Stitch as pariahs.
Later in their adventures we see them eating at Nani’s job. The 4th house is representative of the sign of Cancer, opposite of the 10th house which is representative of the sign of Capricorn. Nani displays many themes of the 10th house, tirelessly bouncing from job to job to provide for Lilo and although she initially wanted to fulfill Lilo’s wish and give her a companion, Stitch threatens her job search and the already flimsy structure of their house so much that she can’t afford the sympathy in gifting him a sense of belonging like Lilo can. She is just about to throw Stitch out of the house when Lilo brings up a quote from her deceased parents, Ohana.
“Ohana means family…”
Tumblr media
Despite being a young girl, Lilo is very attached to the memory of her parents, keeping a picture of them underneath her pillow. She also keeps a physical book copy of the “The Ugly Duckling”. In it she explains the story of a baby duckling that is sad because “he’s been left behind by his family and nobody wants him. But they hear him crying and they find him and now he is happy because he knows where he belongs.”
The night when Stitch threatens to run away, he takes her copy of the Ugly Duckling with him. Lilo tries her best to convince him to stay, fearing losing the only friend other than Nani that she has ever had. When he still leaves, though disappointed she says that she will still never forget him as she “never forget anyone who leaves” before looking at the family picture with her parents again and tucking it back underneath her pillow.
Tumblr media
The next morning Stitch comes back, trying to escape capture. Naturally she misses her friend and helps him to evade from Jumba and Pleakly trying to arrest him, even going so far as to sacrifice her doll “Scrump” to blow up in the latter’s face. Things unfortunately go too far when their literal house ends up being blown up. When Stitch finally reveals himself to be an alien, she feels betrayed, as if Stitch took advantage of her need for belonging with his need to escape (the 4th house and 9th house themes again being at odds as the 9th house is 8 spaces from the 4th house, the 8th house signifying deception and destruction). When she is taken instead of Stitch she feels defeated, fearing losing her older sister and her home of Hawaii, she officially belongs to nothing.
Someone that gave her a sense of belonging has left her behind once again.
Tumblr media
Finally at the end, upon being rescued and securing Stitch as her pet and best friend for good, Lilo has finally found her sense of belonging. Despite being robbed of a life with her parents, her natural family, she is able to find a family, a tribe, one made up of her older sister along with fellow misfits and aliens just like her.
No one got left behind and no one got forgotten.
Tumblr media
As a 4th Houser, depending on the conditions of the house, your sense of belonging has likely fluctuated throughout your life. No one knows to highs a sense of belonging brings and the low a sense of not belonging brings like you.
You may some severe abandonment issues and may have fought to be included, to feel you belong in circles where others were seemingly accepted easily. And if you have it, you fought hard not to loose it.
But in the end, you stop fighting to belong and another alien, or group of aliens, find you.
Tumblr media
So even if people have left you in some circles, even if people have pushed you out of others, here's to finding and holding tight to your own “Ohana”.
And keeping onto those memories along the way!
Tumblr media

Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is Princess Amalia Sheram Sharm, (or just Amalia) from the french Wakfu animated series. (Being fair, Wakfu is part of a bigger franchise with a lot of different media but she debuts in the show). The free hair design is her appearance in the first two seasons, where she's around 13 years old, and the ponytail one is from seasons 3 and 4 (early 20s). Amalia is the princess of the Sadida Kingdom, mostly inhabited by the Sadida, one of the World of Twelve's classes. The franchise started with a mmorpg, so Sadida were the sort of druids, less on the offensive side, more on the spellcasting one. They control plantlife and are attuned with them. Most Sadida, as far as I am aware of, are Black-coded: some examples I can think of is Amalia's brother having locs, the Sadida God drawing inspiration from African masks (if he's based off a specific culture, that I don't know) and one of their trademark spells: Invoking Vodou-like dolls that act like minions… With this being said, as a disclaimer, I do feel the Sadida do feature stereotypes or iffy choices in their characterizations. Vodou is a closed practice in real life so I don't know how to feel about the dolls, as iconic to Sadida as they are. Some Sadida are depicted as lazy, loving sleep, and/or have designs teetering in stereotypes (not the only class with the latter trait, but still). I am nonblack and haven't found a lot of discussion about their characterization, so I'm afraid I definitely lack an in-depth look into it, but felt that talking about the Sadida class without acknowledging problematic aspects was an incomplete look to it. Anyway, while Amalia is royalty, it's her aforementioned big brother who's expected to take the throne, so at first she stays inside the kingdom. But her curiosity for adventuring makes her and her bodyguard encounter the protagonist, effectively joining his party as main characters, as they attempt to defeat season 1's villain, who long story short needs to sap life force (Wakfu) for his goal, with nature and especially the Sadida Kingdom and their Tree of Life being in danger, this being an important point in the season. Amalia's character is super interesting to me, since she starts the show as a flawed, sheltered, spoiled 13 year old princess. She has her wrong, unpleasant moments sometimes, sure, but isn't portrayed as evil, rather as a kid who has to unlearn AND learn a lot of things and given grace. And of course, we do actually mostly see Amalia's better traits: She's cheerful, adventurous, a funny snooty princess character. She LOVES her friends, and her family (and they love and care for her a lot too!!), even if with the latter there's usually some layer of conflict due to her being expected to be a typical princess, plus her family sadly having experienced tragedy before (which sadly continues as the show goes on but that's spoilers :´) ), still dealing with the aftermath and grief in a way that, I feel, is very earnest and touching.
(this got long so I'll continue in a different ask)
Lmao this is a lot. But I do appreciate your love for her! I do love when child characters, especially Black children, are allowed to be flawed yet grow.

I think I'm literally insane. Currently writing the third chapter of my trans mtf Stephanie Harrington fic. And I'm doing more stupid research. Not, like, dumb research—just, unnecessary research.
Like, Eddie's getting them (Stephanie and their daughter, Jazzy—which I've shortened from Jasmine) gifts that are (without tax included, because here in America, sales tax is not included on the shelf tags) a whopping $79.90 all together. But, it's 1999 in my fic, I don't know what the sales tax in Indiana was at that time—not only am I not from there, but I wasn't even fucking alive. Anyway.
The Indiana state sales tax rate was 5% at the time. And that would make the total cost around $83.90.
Also doing crazy research on the Millennium Princess Barbie from 1999, if that gives away what he's buying. But, did you know that one of the variations of this Barbie doll, her name is Teresa (Barbie's friend!) is an exclusive to Toys "R" Us, or was? She has a dark green velvet dress as opposed to stereotypical and African American Barbie's (that's what she's referred to, please don't kill me) dark blue velvet dress.
So, yeah, it's 3am. I'm writing this chapter. And I'm edging on the borderline of insane and completely normal, just maybe a bit overboard on wanting to write the times correctly. Lmao.

Part Four
I'm very proud of these dolls, and I'm also leaving them at my parents' house, so I did a little photoshoot with some books as background so I can have nice pictures of them. This set of pictures is exclusively dolls that I painted, so I’m very pleased to show them off.
This is the fourth and final post, so check out the first for more info!
Tumblr media
First up is Sisu, with The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle. I swear that I did not rip the cover. I think that copy is like 50 years old, and I swear I had the ripped of part until recently. I’m very sad about losing it. But in any case, I feel like Sisu would relate heavily with being the only one of her species left for a long while, about how human vice affected her status as an endling, about spending time in a body that isn’t really hers to survive, and the whole quest really. Hell, in the book, Schmendrick and Molly end up together, and we all know that’s going to happen to Raya and Namari eventually lol.
Tumblr media
Second is Mirabel with In the Tike of the Butterflies, by Julia Alvarez. I feel like Mirabel would be the most invested in her family in keeping up with the outside, in magical world, as both a breather from all her family’s guilt and drama, and as a future head of the household later on. In her life. I also know that the Latin world paid a lot of attention to the struggle and loss of the Mirabal sisters (The Butterflies) and what with the book being told by Dede (the non-revolutionary sister, the only survivor) and being about a 4 sisters, Mirabel would empathize with this a lot. She’s one out of 3 sisters + a close girl cousin, and is the only one who’s not involved with what made her family famous. Encanto takes place in about the 1950s, maybe 60s, so Mirabel would definitely be interested in this book, because she would have definitely been interested in the real life events that occurred when she was young (the events of the book and the real life murders of the Mirabal sisters occurred form the 40s to 1960, but this book was published in the 90s)
Tumblr media
Third is Dolores with Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen. I feel like she is a more overlooked member of the Madrigals, and she probably is a BIG Romantic at heart, though I bet she keeps it secret. as such, I gave her one of the most Romantic books I have as a background.
Tumblr media
Fourth is Isabela with The Giver, by Lois Lowry. I think she would find the themes of huge responsibility and the focus on perfection by society to be quite pertinent to her lot in life at the beginning of Encanto.
Tumblr media
Fifth is Luisa with Jacob I have Loved, by Katherine Paterson. The title is a reference to the Bible saying, “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.”. I DID think about giving this one to Mirabel, but ultimately chose Luisa because I feel like Mirabel never felt she had a chance to live up to Isabela, while Luisa probably felt like she had a chance to under all that *pressure* (lol), like Sarah Louise (the Esau) with her twin sister Caroline (the Jacob). I think the themes of small town life (SL in the book moves from a small coastal island to a mountain town, and the Madrigals live in the mountains) would also speak to Luisa.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I couldn’t decide for Shuri and also wanted to show her off more, so she gets two books! The first is my copy of the collected Infinity War comics, because she appears in it, and the second is The Deep by Rivers Solomon. Shuri gets The Deep because it’s about a mermaid whose people were the magically-transformed fetuses of pregnant African people who were thrown overboard while being transported to the Americas for enslavement. As Shuri’s movie is both about a strong African nation and about a people pushed underwater by colonialism and racism, I just felt that it was fitting. If you look in her hands, one has a heart shaped herb and the other has the bracelet from Namor.
Tumblr media
As a romantic and a girl obsessed with the surface, I believe Ariel would love The Princess Bride, full stop. I also think the framing premise would tickle her.
Tumblr media
Last but not least, Asha! Her movie ofc hints at her becoming the fairy godmother and crossing over with fairy/Disney tales, so I gave her The Sisters Grimm!

Some more EAH and MH stuff I made!
Pic 1: Apple Bite, my take on the leaked prototype dress that @luc-elementix posted a while ago. This would have been Apple dressed as/transformed into a vampire and would have happened in The Lost Movie or been movie exclusive dolls.
Pic 2: the Scarily Ever After doll line with Draculaura as Snow Bite, Frankie Stein as Threadarella, and Clawdeen as Little Dead Riding Wolf. (I know Frankie’s doesn’t really match the art, but I tried by best.)
Pic 3: Scarily Ever After Cleo and Abbey. They only appeared as background characters in Draculaura and Frankie’s stories, but I wanted to include them anyway. Cleo is the Evil Princess (/Queen) in Snow Bite and Abbey is the Fairy Ghoulmother (Scary Godmother in my head) from Threadarella. (In other stories, I think Cleo could be Sleeping Beauty and Abbey could be the Snow Queen.)
Pic 4: Destiny swapped Apple Queen and Raven White. Honestly, I just swapped their color palettes 😅 Nothing nuance here except maybe for Apple’s purple highlights. I kind of like this AU/theory. I know some people don’t and Apple could have just inherited her hair color from her dad (he’s stated as having blonde hair in the books), but it’s just such a cool theory to me.
Pic 5: Snow White and Eva Queen during their school days. This is taken from the comic Class of Classics, where we see the previous generation in their youth.
Pic 6: Gigi Grant, Djinni “Whisp” Grant, and Genie/redeemed Whisp
Pic 7: Howleen Wolf fashion evolution (G1 and G3). I really like her second look. I know some people don’t but Howleen’s whole thing is that she’s trying to find herself. She feels like she has something to prove since her older siblings have all done great things. Fashion is great way to do that. She’s expressing herself through her fashion. (I couldn’t get the hair poof that she has in her first and newest look so I went with the braided/cornrow look (I don’t know what hairstyle this is. My knowledge of African hairstyles is abysmal.)
Pic 8: Casta Fierce, Catty Noir, and Ari Hauntington. Honestly, these were my favorite to make. I love that MH made some pop stars. I still listen to Witching Hour and Catty’s songs are so good. I also really like her and Pharaoh. They are so cute and would definitely be THE monster pop star power couple (in my opinion). Ari also has a really interesting storyline. She’s a pop star in both the human and monster worlds.

I've recently finished reading Meet Claudie, and I'm in absolute awe over how this book not only captured my nostalgia, but also got me to resonate deeply with an American Girl character for the first time.
I should probably start from the beginning... (Book spoilers down below!)
-
I began taking an interest in American Girl dolls again after finding out about the Disney Princesses line. I was originally going to take Tiana home with me, but ultimately chose Claudie because she invoked my nostalgia - as a young teen, I remembered checking out many of the American Girl historical books from my local library.
With Claudie, I got a couple pieces of clothing from her line, and one from Addy's.
It was her birthday outfit. I chose it because loved the design and thought it would look lovely on Claudie. The reason I am highlighting this outfit is because the bundle came with a paperback version of Happy Birthday, Addy! - a book which I found has many similarities to Meet Claudie.
To preface - I did not read any of the other Addy books prior to reading Happy Birthday, Addy! I might be missing some context that is important for the entire series, but I feel that this book works just fine as a stand alone story-
Happy Birthday, Addy! places a ton of focus on the hardships African Americans faced up North in early 1865. While Addy and her parents were able to escape from slavery, her older brother and baby sister remained in North Carolina, and despite their new freedom, Addy's father cannot find a job as a carpenter because of his race. Prejudice remained strong in Philadelphia, and while Addy is grateful for her new life, she despised the mistreatment of African Americans.
Throughout the course of the story, Addy tries to find the right date to call her birthday. Her parents do not know when exactly she was born, apart from the season - spring. Eventually, she chooses April 9th - the day the Civil War ended. The end and outcome of the war for Addy meant that she would be reunited with her siblings soon after, which is what makes the day so special to her.
Fast forward to 1922, Harlem, New York - Claudie Wells lives among a community of many talented African American artists that create the Harlem Renaissance. Meet Claudie begins with our main character's quest to find her own talent. As the story continues, the depressing truth begins to take center focus - African Americans still face prejudice, just in a different way.
Near the end of the book, Claudie finds out that the boarding house she lives in was sent an eviction notice. It is implied that while Claudie's family work hard and in the occupations they've dreamed of, they still have to face obstacles that come their way - higher charges for housing, violence caused by racism, things that make it difficult for an African American to live fairly.
Determined to save the boarding house, Claudie decides to put together a variety show. One of the most important characters in this book is Gwen, a painter who Claudie seeks help from to create backdrops for the show. Gwen is extremely reluctant at first, but eventually agrees under the condition that Claudie performs in the show. Claudie was hesitant - she does not believe that she has a talent, or have what it takes to be on a stage, but she eventually agrees. The book ends with Claudie joining her mother on a trip to Georgia in order to find inspiration for her play sketch - a lead onto the next book in the series, Adventures with Claudie.
I was in awe by how much Addy and Claudie's stories paralleled each other - both of them live in boarding houses, with families who struggle against prejudice. I love how the depiction of their boarding houses reflect the respective eras they come from - while both houses are described as crowded, specifically at the dining table, Addy's home created this lingering sense of dread in me, this fear that her family could be taken away from her at any given moment and nothing could be done about it. Claudie's home, on the other hand, feels more vibrant and welcoming - indicative of the progress African American rights have gone almost 60 years later.
While I'm not African American personally, I still resonate with Claudie because I understand what it feels like be uncertain about yourself. Finding that one thing that you are passionate about and builds up your life. For Claudie, it is slowly building up to the idea that whatever talent she decides to pursue further, it will be done out of love for her family, her friends, and her community.
I can't stress enough how wonderful of a sentiment that is to invoke in an American Girl story. It perfectly connects Claudie's historical and personal background to create a solid story that I believe kids deserve to read. I have yet to read Adventures of Claudie, but I am already invested-

Here's the official bio for Queen Genevieve!! I've been watching Quest for Camelot bc this year is the 25th anniversary and it's a guilty pleasure op mine even tho it has a lot of flaws So I had to make an OC XD
Quest for Camelot is owned by Warner Brothers. I only own Genevieve. Made in Doll Divine Princess Maker ver. 1.0. & Barbie movie dress maker
Name: Genevieve of Camelot
Age: 40s
Occupation: Queen
Ethnicity: African British(Celtic?)
Friends: Lady Juliana, Kayley, Garrett, Devon, Merlin
Spouse: King Arthur
Allies: Knights of the Round Table
Enemies: Ruber and his army, Lady Jezebel (OC)
Voice Claim: Angela Bassett
Goals: Retrieving Excalibur (succeeded), avoid a forced marriage to Ruber (succeeded), saving Camelot (succeeded)
Appearance: Genevieve is a beautiful woman with long, dark and curly and dark brown eyes. She also has brown skin. Her regal attire consists of a light yellow dress with red shoulder pads, outer skirt, and gold belt. She wears a simple silver and tiara with a blue gem in the center.
Personality: Genevieve is a wise and goodhearted woman who devotes her time to overseeing the welfare of her kingdom. Like Kayley, she also dreamed of becoming a knight but were forced to set those dreams aside. While she sometimes regrets missing that opportunity, she doesn't regret choosing to be Queen. Genevieve encorages Kayley to pursue her dreams but warns her that the journey towards knighthood is not an easy one. It's implied that she and Lady Juliana were childhood friends.
Abitlities: Genevieve is adaptable, as when she spends her time in the enchanted forest. She also demonstrates her political prowess as when she tries to diffuse Ruber's attempts at invading the sea village, and later convincing the dragon brothers to help her.
The only magical ability Genevieve possesses is a mirror given to her by Merlin. This mirror can reveal a person's "true self", teleportation and some defense against dark magic. While it can deflect physical spells too much force leads to cracks, reducing the effective power of the mirror.
Inspiration: Guinevere (Arthurian Legend), Elinor (Brave), Tzipporah (The Prince of Egypt), Mrs. Brisby (Secret of Nimh), Fiona (Shrek), Asami (Avatar LOK), Snow White (Disney/OUAT), Annika (Barbie Magic of Pegasus)
If Quest for Camelot was about King Arthur it makes sense for Guinevere to exist too! So here's my idea of what she could look like. I think Arthur would want a strong, caring person who is just as devoted to the light as he is. But also because I am sick of media that only depicts Guinevere to serve that stupid love triangle; there's so much more to Arthurian legend and Guinevere than the men she sleeps with. It wasn't even part of the original myths! -_-
Anyways I wanted a story where Guinevere gets to be the hero. As for her role in the movie she visits Juliana and Kayley but their party gets attacked by Ruber. The queen and Kayley escapes and together, along with Garrett, Merlin's falcon and the dragon bros, set off to save the kingdom. She also does battle with an old foe, the bitter Lady Lizabet, who wants to get rid of her and take Arthur as a trophy husband.
As far as design goes I gave her a warm color palette to contrast the blue tunic Arthur wears in the film. Plus the "Primary Color Protagonist" trope.

Charlie's Basic Info
Tumblr media
Name: Charlotte Luisa Joy Sanka-Mays
For the most part, Charlie's faceclaims were really easy to pick which, in a way, made it harder for me to pick Erica's later on. Anyway, for the 60s, we have Diahann Carroll (Paris Blues), the 80s, Lisa Bonet (Angel Heart), the 90s, Angela Bassett (What's Love Got To Do With It), and now Tessa Thompson (Thor: Ragnarok)
Nicknames: Charlie, Lottie (she especially loves it because of The Princess and the Frog), and Char (Vivien is the usual culprit, but sometimes others will call her that as well)
Age: 38
Date of Birth: September 16
Zodiac: Virgo
Birthstone: Sapphire
Nationality: Jamaican and Columbian
Sexuality: Bisexual
Birthplace: Princess Anne, Virginia Beach, Virginia
Current Residence: Laconia, New Hampshire
Occupation: Author
Talents/Skills: Tying cherry stems into knots with her tongue, embroidery, violin playing, origami, and procrastination.
Birth order: Only child
Parents: Kenan Arlo Sanka and Camila Maria Martinez
Signature:
Tumblr media
Autograph:
Tumblr media
Height: 5’4”
Race: African American
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: Black with colored braids
Glasses or contact lenses: Contacts for reading and colored contacts for fun
Distinguishing features: A tattoo behind her ear of a crown, faded scars on her thighs from self-harm in her teenage and young-adult years, and stretch marks on her abdomen that she’s grown to love.
Mannerisms: Constantly tucking her hands into either her pockets or sleeves, reapplies lip gloss or chapstick when it starts to feel too dry, and will stare into space while thinking and not realize it until someone points it out.
Health: Used to suffer from a combination of anorexia and bulimia, but has since recovered and is at a healthy weight.
Hobbies: Collecting crystals, making candles, creating elaborate costumes for conventions, doing far too much research for her books, and watching bootlegged Broadway shows online.
Greatest flaw (in their opinion): Perfectionism, 100%. Throughout her formative years, she was pressured by her parents to be the perfect child - perfect grades, perfect appearance, perfect everything. The slightest misstep resulted in shouting matches, venom-filled, snarky comments, and silent treatments. By the time she had graduated, she was top of her class and one of the best dancers at her company. College was supposed to be her way to a perfect future, but then she met Hayley and everything changed. However, even now, her parents forced perfectionism is still engraved in her bones - a reminder to be on top of her game, no matter the cost. She struggles a lot with letting things happen as they may and allowing herself to be anything but perfect.
Best quality (in their opinion): Her imagination. Getting lost in make-believe worlds and creating sprawling cities in her mind had always been a source of entertainment in Charlie’s rigid childhood, but now that she allows her creativity to flow into her novels and children’s books, she takes pride in her imagination.
Biggest fear: For the longest time, she would have said falling in love as she saw what it did to her parents, but now that she has Hayley and knows what real love is like, she would say either centipedes, snakes, or becoming paralyzed. She had broken her leg in a car accident as a teenager and was kept in a wheelchair for the most part. The feeling of only moving from her bed to the wheelchair and back again was like torture for the typically active girl and, now, the idea of going back to that terrifies her.
Hogwarts House: Slytherin
Favorite ice cream: M&M, but only with vanilla ice cream and peanut butter drizzle
Favorite color: Pink
Favorite number: 19, how old she was when she met Hayley
