Bruce Banner/Jimmy Woo for @bruceweek 2023! Rating: Teen Summary: Jimmy performs card tricks to calm Hulk down. In the year that follows, he and Bruce get to know each other a little better.

There’s a growl in the darkness. Hulk is sat in the corner of the room, attempting to tie a motorcycle in a knot. At Jimmy’s approach, he bears green lips in a snarl.

In times of crisis, instinct takes over. Hands trembling, Jimmy whips out his badge. ‘Mister uh, Hulk? Agent Woo, FBI.’

Hulk grunts, giving him only a cursory glare before returning to the task at hand. At least he’s not ripped Jimmy’s arms off yet, which is a really promising sign.

‘I heard you like card tricks. Scott’s a buddy of mine, he’s sorry he couldn’t make it today.’ Not as sorry as he’s going to be later, Jimmy adds mentally. He takes out the deck of cards. Now Hulk’s looking at him. Oh god he hasn’t practiced in two weeks. It’s fine. It’s practically muscle memory at this point.

Jimmy takes a card from the deck. His thumb slips. The whole deck flutters to the floor.

Hulk’s beady eyes narrow. Yep, this is how he dies. Like a jester whose king tires of their jokes. Jimmy’s lower lip wobbles.

Then Hulk chuckles. He sets the motorcycle aside. ‘S’okay. Go again, new guy.’

They told her when she arrived that they were investigating suspected anomalies similar to those she experienced firsthand in Santa Fe some months prior. She told herself she basically turned into the agency's version of the X-Files.

Over time, Darcy garnered an unusual reputation in the same sort of fashion as Jane Foster had. If she were being honest with herself, it had been a long time coming given everything she's experienced in her life and her chosen field of study. Following her experience in Westview in Wanda's hex, and then again in Santa Fe with the temporal anomalies cropping up all over town, STAKE seemed to have decided to keep her as their own version of Mulder and Scully, or as she joked to Deputy Director Hill one night over drinks, "I'm the Hex Files!" And she crowed, "And I'll be adding that to my email signature forever; I think it'll complement the JD and PhD really well!" at which point she signaled for another round and things got a little hazy.  

Better STAKE than SWORD in her book, no offense to Monica. Even with Hayward in federal custody, Darcy was distrustful of most divisions with which she had limited or no previous experience in dealing with, particularly if the division's agents were dickbags like the one who had handcuffed her to a truck and gotten her stuck in the Hex. In her last call with Jimmy Woo, FBI, he assured her that the guy had been arrested for conspiracy and reckless endangerment. She'd sent Jimmy a gift basket filled with the snacks they had bonded over during Westview, along with a deck of trick cards for him to practice his sleight of hand.

STAKE had dispatched her to Jerome, Arizona, in order to ascertain the origin of the anomalies, and see if there was any way to stop them from occurring and endangering the townspeople. One of SHIELD's research stations nearby had detected strange readings they sourced back to the ghost town, but nothing more specific than that as the equipment's sensitivity wasn't high enough to zero in beyond a radius of 300 miles. They set up base in the Grand Hotel given its location to the rest of the town to try and close in on a source.

Apparently, the Special Threat Assessment for Known Extra-normalities (aka STAKE) really put a precedent on the assessment part of their name, which was a welcome change of pace from the shoot-first-ask-later directives she'd witnessed in action before. But if her brief initial meeting with the division's deputy director, Gerardo Otxoa, when she was first approached for the Osprey had been any indication, the man seemed to live by the creed, "Forewarned is forearmed," and ran the division accordingly, since she had yet to see hide nor hair of the actual division director. But according to Hill, that guy was an asshole and Otxoa was the better person to deal with.

But a Night Valer consultant, who was one of the few experts in Einstein-Rosen bridges with practical experience in the world, was, it seemed, quite the commodity. (Last she heard from Erik, he'd returned to Norway to visit family while recovering from the last few years, which Darcy though had been long overdue, but even she knew he was SHIELD's favorite astrophysicist since Jane was gone, which was why she was pawned off on other divisions.) Given the amount of times her research had been the target of theft and hacking in addition to kidnapping attempts, Darcy had been tremendously underwhelmed by such a late realization on the part of STAKE's executive branch.

Perhaps that was something else she had unknowingly inherited from Jane to go along with the boxes of things from her internship and trips to go along with her friend's chemotherapy treatments; an unwavering interest/monopolization of her time and research by a shadowy government agency. Or maybe they knew she kept copies of all the data and research that Jane had collected since Puente Antiguo, including the original copy of Jane's notebook with Thor's rudimentary sketch of the Nine Realms. It was a bittersweet souvenir of simpler times in a sunlit dealership turned physics lab.

Maybe it was for that reason, in addition to some deeply rooted nostalgia and longing for her friend, that Darcy had packed the delightfully ugly secondhand sweater she used to wear during long hours in the old showroom when the nightly chill had settled in and turned their little lab into a freezer. Or maybe the Faceless Old Woman had packed it in Darcy's backpack in a premonition like the one about the piano player.

In any case, once Darcy was brought up to speed and she had been settled in behind a monitor to review the footage of whatever anomaly she was there to figure out, she reached into her backpack and found the rolled up gray and white throw blanket she and Jane would share at their lab during late nights and unintentionally fell into a moment of silence for her mentor and friend before draping the soft fabric around herself.

A while back I made a post complaining about how comics jimmy woo has this interesting backstory and is the leader of this powerful organization and that the mcu turned him into the "comic relief card trick guy". And ppl were confused in the tags so this post is gonna be explaining it all.

So in the comics jimmy is a descendant of genghis khan which means that he is the heir of the Atlas Foundation. It's basically this old secret evil organization that goes back to the mongol empire.

Now Jimmy's parents didn't want that for him so they immigrated to america from China and decides to raise jimmy to become a cop. He ends up working for the FBI and does these cool missions in the 50s. And a lot of these missions involved defeating Plan Chu. (He was this weird Yellow peril fu manchu type villian and I refuse to say his original name). We'll get back to him later.

One day Plan Chu kidnaps president Eisenhower and so jimmy forms a team called the G-men consisting of: gorilla man, venus, marvel boy, and m-11. And he ends up saving the day. Unlucky for him, he doesn't get the recognition he deserves due to being a Chinese man in America during the 50s. So he ends up working for shield doing low level jobs for the rest of his life.

And so in the modern day, jimmy goes on a mission to figure out what this Atlas Foundation he's been researching is and ends up on life support because of a huge explosion. And he's the only one of his team to make it out "alive".

During this time gorilla man and m-11 come in to save him and kidnap him from shield headquarters. They end up bringing him back to life using marvel boy's space tech and he's reverted back to his 50s self bc that's the last time the team has seen jimmy. He ends up losing his memories from the past few decades and he talks like he did in the 50s. It similar to steve rogers when he woke up from the ice.

But jimmy does find notes about this "atlas foundation" in his room and he assembles his old team the g-men (with the addition of namora) to help figure out what this means.

The journey ends with him discovering atlas and meeting plan chu (the current leader). It's revealed that plan chu had secretly set everything up for him so that he could one day be the leader of atlas. Jimmy decides to take the deal but instead of doing evil he decides to do some good with the resources he currently has. Plan chu ends up being eaten by the advisor to atlas ( a dragon named Mr. Lao) and that's where jimmy is now.

The g-men are now called the agents of atlas. They've added on 3-d man recently. And there's a new agents of atlas team that's filled with all asian characters (which you've already probably heard of).

But yeah. Jimmy woo owns this secret global organization where he gets to kick ass and do some good. Oh yeah and sometimes he and his team (the og one) has to pretend to be evil to get their plans to work. It's interesting.

From the moment you met Loki, it was like he was already trying to please you. You knew who he was, famously known as the God of Mischief, and you were aware of the damage he’d done to New York (your apartment building being one of the many destroyed in his attempt to rule). You joined the Avengers shortly after the attack. You had a lifelong experience in mixed martial arts & ballet, making you strong and graceful, perfect for an agent, and now Avenger.

After working with the team for a year, you were given the news that Loki would soon be staying in the tower as well. At first you felt uneasy at the thought of his staying, but you were a little relieved to think he was changing his mischievous ways for the better. You were introduced to him when he was first given a tour of the tower by his brother Thor, who was excited to have Loki around.

“Lady y/n!” he called with his booming voice. “I wish for you to meet my brother, Loki.”

You turned around as they approached you and you definitely liked what you saw. Tall, dark hair, definitely attractive and very well dressed for someone fairly new to Earth. He had a small smirk on his face, eyebrows raised as if he was surprised to see you.

Truth be told, he was surprised. Suprised that you were a human. To him you looked like a goddess, and immediately intended on treating you as such.

“Hi” you said, reaching a hand out to shake his own. He brought your hand up to his lips and placed a kiss on your knuckle, “Hello darling, pleasure to meet you.” You blushed at the nickname, which ended up sticking. At first, you felt he was mocking you by constantly calling you sweet names like “love” or “darling” but that didn’t stop you from getting flustered anyway when he did.

It started with small gestures, like rushing to open the door for you and pulling out your chair at breakfast. Then you started receiving small gifts like roses with a sweet message on the card, his name signed with a heart. You thought for a second that he was trying to trick you, to make you fall in love with him and then laugh at you once you did. Whether it was a trick or not, it was working. It wasn’t until a late night that you fully believed his intentions were serious. You couldn’t go to sleep for some odd reason, you didn’t even feel tired. You went on your phone and saw it was just passed 1am. Sighing, you get up and walk to the kitchen, hoping a nice warm tea might help you. As you walked in you saw him: Loki. He sat at the table with a book in one hand and a cup of tea in the other. You took a second to look over your appearance, which was silk shorts and an old shirt, most likely one of Sam or Steve’s that didn’t fit anymore. Your hair only slightly disheveled from turning in your bed. It was weird to care so much when you’ve never cared about your appearance. But with Loki you couldn’t help but feel the need to look presentable around him.

He looked up as he sensed your presence. He smiled, “Good evening y/n” he said. You started feeling nervous butterflies as you said a soft “Good evening” back. You set some water to boil and picked out some Chamomile tea to help you relax. As you leaned against the counter and waited for the water you found yourself staring at him. He was wearing a black shirt that seems to fit him perfectly, you never got to see his arms since he always wore long sleeved button ups or sweaters but now you were able to see the impressive muscles he had and the veins that cascaded down his arms. You felt yourself blush as you imagined those arms holding you tight. You were snapped out of your daydream by the whistling of the kettle, quickly turning off the stove. While you prepared your tea you heard him clear his throat. “Why are you awake at this hour?” he asked. You turned and looked at him as you stirred your tea, shrugging.

“I’m not really sure” you said, “I just couldn’t.” He hummed at your response, and pushed the chair in front of him out with his foot, signaling for you to sit at it. You did and as you sat you both looked into each other’s eyes. You saw a sparkle in his, caused by the glowing kitchen lights. You broke eye contact as you sipped your tea. “Why aren’t you asleep?” You asked the god. He closed his book and set it beside him, giving you his full attention. “I don’t like to waste the rare moments of peace and quiet.” he said.

You understood what he meant. A majority of the day was filled with the team running around doing work related things, and if it wasn’t, there was always someone watching tv or filling the space with talking. You liked it that way, but you could see Loki’s appeal in wanting there to be silence. You started to feel bad, thinking that maybe you were interrupting his time of silence.

“Well I’d hate to take that from you.” you said, getting up from the chair. You didn’t even get to turn as he grabbed your hand to stop you. “Well I certainly don’t mind your company, pet.” he smiled. So you sat back down, and you continued to talk for another hour until you felt yourself drifting to sleep mid-conversation. You yawned and Loki took that as a sign that you were done for the night.

He walked you to your room and before you opened the door to enter you decided to ask him something you’d been wondering since you met him. Why was he so kind and gentle, but only to you? So you asked, and he didn’t look surprised by this question at all. That’s because he wasn’t. He knew you were smart enough to notice a shift in his behavior during breakfast with how he acted him Tony versus how he acted with you. With anyone else, he’d snap at them for asking him for something and try not to roll his eyes. But with you, he was always happy to pass you what you needed, or even serve you another plate if he saw you wanted one. Everyone else had noticed but like you at the time, thought he had another trick up him sleeve.

“You’re different” he said. “I feel warm around you, an almost comforting feeling that I’ve never felt with anyone else. You’re beautiful inside and out and if you trust me to, I could show you how much I could offer you. Which may not be much, but what I could only hope is enough to please you for a lifetime.” He placed a hand on your cheek as he finished his short speech, and that’s when you completely believed he was serious about perusing you. Heat rose to your cheeks in shock that he felt this way about you. He chuckled and leaned down to kiss your cheek, but not before whispering, “Goodnight my love.” That night you dreamed of your future with Loki, excited of what the future held for the two of you.

That was....until a week later at one of Tony’s infamous parties. What could have changed in a week? Even the days leading up to it, the Trickster God still continued with his loving gestures. A hug before bed, the ocasional forehead kiss when passing by, if anything they were more intimate that how he acted before. But here you were at a party, watching in heartbreak as he danced with another woman. You tried to deny him the satisfaction of your jealous glare, but as he held her close, with love in his eyes, all you felt was sadness.

You couldn’t even look away, feeling the need to torture yourself. It was a hand on your shoulder that broke you out of your painful daydream. You turned your head and sat up, seeing none other than Steve leaning on the table you sat at. Him being your closest friends, next to Wanda, was able to sense your emotions, feeling sympathy over you. You expected an “I told you so.” from him. He warned you not even a week into Loki living in the tower. “He’s bad news” he said. “Don’t waste your time. He’s not worth it.” But you didn’t listen.

“You okay?” he asked. You shrugged and took a drink from the glass that you kept asking to be refilled. “You were right. Like always.” you laughed dryly, looking away from Steve. You easily found Loki sitting on a couch across the room. He threw his head back in laughter and gripped the woman’s waist after she whispered something to him.

“I don’t like being right if it means you get hurt.” Steve said. “He’s going to see what he’s missing out on and come crawling back.” You smiled and looked at him again. Maybe it was the alcohol but you’d never noticed how sparkly his eyes were until now.

He held his hand out. “Let’s get out of here.” he said. You let out a giggle and took it, letting him lead you back to the residential floor, not even taking a second to look back at Loki. Steve told you to change into your pajamas and meet him in the kitchen and when you did, the night was filled with laughs and talking about life. You would think that after knowing Steve for a year you’d know of his hopes and dreams but you didn’t until he told you over a slice of cake Wanda had made for the party, but forgot about.

You two shared a dream. A family, a home right outside the city with a white picket fence. A chance at a normal life, a happy marriage and kids. You both took turns explaining how you’d decorate it, laughing when you’d say something at the same time like a brick fireplace or a big backyard. Steve felt relieved that someone else had still believed in the simple life and you were excited to talk about what you prayed the future held for you.

The warmth you began to feel with Steve was different. A good different. Different than what you felt with Loki. With Loki, the warmth you felt was nerves from attention you weren’t used to receiving and worry that the team thought you were associated with someone evil in their eyes. But with Steve, you felt at ease, almost like home. Sure he made you blush like Loki, but you were able to talk back and make Steve blush too. There was no awkward silence or worry of saying the wrong thing. This is nice. You thought, watching Steve wipe the counter with a smile.

You kissed him that night. Just a friendly peck as you thanked him for the nice night. Both of your hearts felt full for the first time in a long time.

The next morning began like any other after a party. Groans coming from the kitchen after any form of noise. The amount of junk food you ate with Steve probably soaked up all the alcohol in your system, only leaving you with a small headache, nothing like the hangovers Natasha or Tony were suffering from. You walked in and grinned at the sight of Steve cooking, still sporting his white t shirt and grey sweats from last night. You walked up to him and leaned on his arm. “Morning, Cap.” You said. He turned his head and smiled at you. “Good morning.”

You turned to go sit at the table and realized that Loki was sitting at the corner of it, glaring at Steve from behind his book. You held back a laugh as you pulled up a chair farthest from him, preparing to distance yourself. It hurt to see him, but if it was so easy for him to move on without warning, why couldn’t you do the same?

Days and even weeks repeated this. Loki would occasionally try to compliment you or give you a note, but you would brush him off. He knew what he did was wrong. He felt guilty, especially on days where he’d notice your eyes were red and puffy. Those were the ones you’d avoid his gaze the most. He also noticed the shift in your relationship with Steve. For the first few days he watched you two talk and how Steve would put him arm around you, which he thought he was fine. But then as the weeks went on he noticed times where you’d link hands with him, or lean your head on his chest as he watched a movie.

It was around a month later that he saw you and Steve kiss for the first time. Steve had just returned from a mission with Bucky, a fairly easy one that had him home within hours but he could tell you missed him nonetheless. After kissing him, you pulled him up the stairs, giggling and asking him about the mission.

Loki felt sharp pangs of jealousy. He knew he shouldn’t have. He broke your heart. He led you on and started seeing someone else. It was stupid of him to assume you’d wait for him, and now he’d have to pay the price.

(SPOILERS FOR WANDAVISION) Things I like about WandaVision (so far)

the imitation of sitcoms is very creative on the writers part. I didn't read the synopsis of the show, so I thought that Marvel was just imitating sitcoms for fun. My dad, who is a huge nerd like me, recognized all of the references. Duck Van Dyke Show, Bewitched, Brady Bunch, and Family Ties.

The dialogue is very funny in some moments. I liked Vision and Wanda's playful banter.

Vision getting drunk on gum. That's it.

It was very creative to use old fashioned effects for the different time periods.

I feel like the twist about the sitcoms actually being a false reality was a reminder that "Hey, did you forget this is phase 4 of the MCU?"

I'm glad that the show has a consistent release schedule. Episodes release every Friday. And the two most recent ones have answered almost every question for us, so that's good!

I can't really blame Wanda for breaking down and not accepting reality, therefore stealing Vision's body and creating a false reality where she can live happily without any life-threatening danger, and have a happy family with her true love. Its a wonderful fantasy, even though she's hurting people in the process.

I hope that by the end of the show, Wanda is convinced to move on and use healthy coping mechanisms. Poor girl's been through a lot.

Mad props to Marvel for giving Darcy a bigger role as a character. I really liked her in the Thor movies.

Agent Woo from Ant-man is a cool addition too! Also! Remember how in Ant-man he struggled with card tricks? Well, in episode 4, he successfully does a card trick with his business card for Monica. Excellent continuity detail.

Again, very creative when Darcy picked up the first broadcast and asked for an old tv that matched the time period. Youll notice that as the time periods change, the TVs change too.

Darcy clearly ships WandaVision. As does the fandom.

I noticed that every time somebody is breaking character in the sitcom reality, you hear faint static. Interesting detail.

I think that deep down inside, Wanda didn't like resurrecting vision (that's what was implied). I think she knows it's not healthy, that Vision would want her to move on, but she can't.

Is it just me, or is the "character created a false reality out of grief and pain so she could stay with a loved one and refuses to snap out of it when loved one calls her out on it" plot sound almost EXACTLY like the last 2 episodes of season 3 of She-ra?

I swear. Every time Agnes comes on screen, I hear Doc Ock from Spider-verse.

The plot where Wanda was pregnant while Vision was freaking out was not only hilarious, but also wholesome and sad in the end when you realize that Wanda desires a family like this. I think that subconsciously, shes creating what she desires deep down. She wants to love and be loved in the sitcom reality. And she doesn't want it to be taken away either.

Although it's sad to watch, I appreciate Marvel not making their characters 100% mentally stable; they have trauma and that's okay. Tony had ptsd after Avengers which was addressed in Iron Man 3, Thor had depression after he killed Thanos because nothing came out of it and it was so bad he didn't think he was still worthy of the hammer, Peter has trauma from watching Tony, someone he admired, die in front of him (and Nick Fury pushing him to save the world again didn't help at all, he just wanted a vacay dammit) and now we have Wanda who couldn't move on from her love's death, therefore created a world where he wasn't dead.
