Living on the Bus as an Agent of SHIELD (based on my own experience traveling for work) (AGENTS OF SHIELD)”

requester: N/A // a/n: yes I was inspired by my current work travels and I LOVE to think about the reality of daily Bus life haha. Yes I would be open to doing a part 2?! also yes I'm back but not really? just writing whatever i feel like tbh

For the first few days, you’re weirdly formal about things. You don’t want to sit on the furniture or cook or anything because like… this Bus is NICE. you sit on the floor and eat off the coffee table

The team is gonna see you in your pajamas. You’re gonna see the team in their pajamas. It’s gonna happen. You all are living together and there’s no way around this.

For the first few days, you wake up early to get ready before even leaving your bunk so that no one sees you in any sort of unpresentable shape.

But finally you crack because everyone is staying up late and you want to change into cozy clothes so you change into your pajamas.

(It’s a pair of pink Snoopy pajamas)

You walk back out of your bunk praying no one will notice until someone (Coulson) says “aww I like y/n’s pajamas!”

At night, Coulson likes to watch movies on the  briefing room screen and Skye usually joins him. The others will stop in, but they are the constant.

It’s the worst movies, and the weirdest shit from whatever country’s Netflix the plane is in

Skye also has been personally trying to mess up Coulson’s algorithm so she watches tons of random things on his accounts

Usually the team is drunk during these movie marathons and exhausted after a day in the field

Most of the time, you don’t make it through the movie—you keep nodding off halfway though

Or you go to your bunk, and fall asleep to the sound of a couple teammates, usually Coulson and Skye, laughing their asses off at whatever movie they put on

The Bus is cleaned professionally once a week when you check in on a SHIELD base, but you still find yourself cleaning up all the time because you don’t want to be the “messy” roommate

Ward’s the one who scares you the most when it comes to cleaning because his bunk doesn’t even look LIVED in and he always seems to witness you dropping a napkin of crumbs on the floor, or trying to silently put a plate in the sink “to soak”

This might be a surprise, but there isn’t a chore schedule. Chores are done as needed, and usually quickly assigned. For example, if you trained with someone, the lower ranking people just kinda… automatically clean up and put the mats away and wipe things down after

The dishes pile up in the sink and after a day or so, someone just does them while they’re waiting for someone in the microwave. Usually Jemma or Ward.

You learn everyone’s shower habits really quickly.

Some people (Jemma) are morning shower people, others (Fitz, Skye) are night shower people, others (Ward, May) are post-training shower people, and Coulson just tends to shower before dinner, though he uses the bathroom attached to his office

Coordination is key because nothing is worse than when the bathroom is still wet from the previous person 😭😭😭

People calling dibs after a really long day/mission

Dinner is honestly usually takeout. You always talk about cooking and make plans to but never do. At some point in the evening, someone always announces they’re ordering and everyone else bandwagons on

Breakfast is the only meal that is sometimes cooked. Coulson makes a mean egg sandwich, but you gonna be up early for that.

The team often resupplies on base, but very often (at least a few times a week), someone makes a Cosco/Walmart/convenience store run.

So if you want snacks (or lunch stuff), you gotta tag along or ask REALLY nice

May somehow ALWAYS knocking on your bunk door 5 minutes before your alarm was gonna go off to “make sure you’re up”

Trying to put on your best “awake” voice because nothing prepares you for May knocking on your door asking if you’re awake. Ever.

Also, in that same vein, you’re going to try your best to be so closed off and professional and then one day, you’re going to break that illusion. For me, it was vomiting out the door of a car stuck in traffic 🤠

It’s weird how quickly the team picks up on your habits and idiosyncrasies. Like May getting your favorite chips from the store, or Fitz asking what you’re thinking about because you’re bouncing your leg again and you only do that when your thinking intently

The boredom is sometimes real, especially when you’re waiting on orders and just in standby for a day or so. You end up borrowing a lot of Ward’s books and they’re not the kind of thing you’d usually read, but hey, they fill the time

Daisy's heart rate while she was going through Terrigenesis was 300 bpm. That's over twice the danger limit for a normal human heart, so there has to be something fundamentally different about Daisy's (or even Inhumans as a whole!!) heart on a structural level for it be able to not literally explode.

Is that heart rate normal for Terrigenesis? Was it just a her thing? Is her resting heart rate still within normal human range or is it permanently faster now?

We know that only some Inhumans have obvious external physical changes, but do only some of them also have internal physical changes? Do all of them have internal changes? Do any??

There has to be some sort of internal change to support their powers, like Lincoln's electricity not killing him, or Daisy's quakes not having an equal and opposite reaction on her.

And I'm not counting Daisy's arms as an equal and opposite reaction because her bones fracturing is in no way an equal or opposite reaction!!!! She would have to be so insanely fucking dense (like. physically.) to not be blown backwards every time she uses her powers.

I need to dissect an Inhuman sooo bad. For christ's sake they have literal alien DNA I think they should all be a little freaky looking, both in- and externally.

Natasha Romanoff didn't bat her eye at experimental new tech – it was part of the job, after all. So when the SHIELD labrats asked her to test-drive a new holographic simulation... "Why the hell not," was her quick and quippy reply. It was an early developmental prototype of a platform called the Framework, designed by some young SHIELD recruit as a consequence-free space for training simulations.

Seemed innocent enough to give it a whirl.

And again, for Nat, when the training went off the rails and she found herself trapped in an unstable simulated reality... she wasn't surprised. The techs in the surface world would bring her back eventually – all she had to do was stay sane in this troublesome virtual world in the meantime.

As the system continued to glitch out and threw new bugs her way, she was surprised to realize that not all of them were dangerous. When the program duplicated her, that's when she raised her first eyebrow. Now, having been tripled, Nat started to worry.

Although these other Nat simulations seemed pretty laid back, despite her initial concerns. And trapped in a room with three of her, all eager to pass the time... Natasha found herselves game for another type of... experiment.

I was really happy with my first Nat attempt – Love, Natasha – but couldn't help but do more for our girl. I wanted to really give her Avengers-era character a chance to shine 😈.

Thank you so much for the ask! 💜 I love any excuse to talk about Daisy Johnson.

First impression: I'm trying to squeeze my brain here, but all I remember was trying not to like her at first because I knew se was a double agent for the Rising Tide. It goes without saying I failed miserably about three episodes in.

Impression now: She is my favourite character of all time.

Favorite moment: I really can't choose, but one that comes to mind was the final fight of season 5. I think it's a very underrated fight scene, because it's the end of the world, her dad is dying, she has been recently betrayed and tortured by her friend, and she still goes into battle BY HERSELF against Talbot, and if that wasn't bad enough, when she's about to die a horrible death she realises that the only way she can save the world is if she takes the serum and basically condemns the person she loves most to his death. It's so heartbreaking and poetic, but very cool to watch, and I just love so much it, idk.

Idea for a story: This is angsty but I would love to read something where the events of 5.14 are properly dealt with. May watches the security cameras and goes ballistic on Fitz, and Daisy gets time to grieve and heal. They get Coulson back and he's horrified, and Jemma is so conflicted but she's there for her best friend.

Unpopular opinion: Since apparently I can't stop thinking about season 5, here's some more. I think she actually did a good job of leading the team in season 5b. Especially if you consider that she's been recently tortured, her family doesn't seem to care, she has no experience, and hasn't gotten a good nights sleep in about 5 years. She might be tough, but hello? IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD?? You have to be at least a little bossy if you wanna make it through that. Also if you're gonna be a baby and call her a hard ass maybe you should have thought twice before joining SHIELD.

Favorite relationship: If it's romantic, then Sousa. I love them so so much, they're literally perfect and despite my obvious outrage at season 5, I will forever love the AoS writers for somehow pulling that off. As for platonic relationships, I'd say May. She's the perfect mother figure for her, and I love the parallels between them. I think Daisy has the best relationships in general, but this one is my favourite. Honourable mentions go to Coulson for being the most unhinged dad ever, and to Jemma for being the sweetest friend in the earlier seasons.

Favorite headcanon: before she goes off to space at the end of season 7, she rebuilds Afterlife with the help of Sousa and Kora. I've said this before, but I think they are actually the perfect team to do this. Kora has lived in Afterlife her whole life, she's seen Jiaying help people go through Terrigenesis, and she's been though it herself in a much healthier and safer environment than Daisy. Sousa is reasonable and calm, which are good qualities to have when you're helping someone who's terrified and potentially dangerous. He has experience leading people, which I think would make him a good mentor for the Inhumans. So Kora has the experience, Sousa has the qualities, and in my opinion, Daisy has a nice combination of the two. She has a different and much more horrifying experience of Terrigenesis that people who accidentally go though it can relate to, and she has spent years exploring and controlling her powers, so she knows what the deal is. And she's also a good leader, so where Sousa can help the Inhumans pre-Terrigenesis, she can train them after if that's what they want. Because that's another thing, SHIELD may be funding Afterlife, but they've learnt their lesson and they're not sticking their noses where they shouldn't. They accept new recruits and help train them, but if that's not what the Inhumans want, then SHIELD helps them get settled back into their normal lives. Anyways this got long but it's one of my favourite headcanons, so there you go.

Fitz and her would share a beetle to drive through the countryside like it’s their little cruiser and would definitely drive it to see the castles of Scotland.

Daisy Johnson - Sports Car

I would like to think that she kept her van, the one she had in the first season, but everything is fixed and somewhere at the base that only she and Phil know because there are times when she feels the need to sit in it. She would definitely would sleep in it if she couldn’t sleep anywhere else.

Bobbi Morse - Coupe 

She would also have an SUV that she would occasionally share with Hunter, but primarily she would use it to commune from work to her home. She would only her Coupe when it’s for driving around her home area.

Something about her also says Coupe or having a motorcycle and going on joyrides with Mack.

She definitely has a SUV for work and uses her hatchback very little only when it comes to drive back home and she rarely goes back home - like her house is what I mean by her “home”.

He would be gifted a modern era convertible by Daisy but he would also have a beetle around the 1940 or 50s era.

Lance Hunter - SUV

Alphonso Mackenzie - Motorcycle

Phil Coulson - Convertible

Of course, he would have Lola with him, but also a SUV for work primarily everyone gets one at one point in SHIELD I would think. He only drives Lola whenever necessary so she’s not in the line of danger all the time and keeps her tucked away somewhere safe and sound when she’s not on the aircraft.

an idea that i really like for post-finale headcanons is that after hayward is arrested, and a new director is sought to head up sword, mack as the director of shield recommends his agent daisy johnson for the position, based on her previous leadership experience and hands-on knowledge of space.

wandavision happens about 4 years after the finale of agents of shield, so assuming that daisy has spent even half of that time as an astro ambassador, that would bump her flighttime in space to at least 2-3 years.

and then Director Johnson of S.W.O.R.D. would redirect the agencys focus to again concentrate on extraterrestrial threats, collaborating heavily with S.H.I.E.L.D. under Director Mackenzie. I feel like thats a very satisfying direction to take her character. especially since coulson wanted her to be director since basically season 4, and i will still die on the hill that she did an amazing job in season 5.

after work she would go home to her husband daniel sousa, and just put her legs up and decompress while videochatting with her sister, who leads her own fieldteam in sword on zephyr 4.

Thanks for the ask! 💙

First impression: Loved him. I think I found him a little bit annoying, but in a good way, of course.

Impression now: I somehow love him even more. I still can't believe the writers just wrote him and Bobbi out because they were such great characters. He deserved to stay even just for comedic relief, because God knows the team needed a laugh sometimes, and so did we.

Favorite moment: When he shows up in prison to "talk to his client" in season 5. That was so iconic because not only was it a great entrance, but also such a relief to see a familiar face in that situation, especially if said familiar face has a hilarious dynamic with Fitz. That was obviously written for the fans, so I have no complaints. Honourable mentions to when he punches the guy from the ATCU without so much as a second thought, when he rants about Bobbi in 2.04 pretending he's not in love with her, and when he goes undercover as an obnoxious IT guy.

Idea for a story: This is not my idea, but I need to know what happened when he and Bobbi almost got married again between seasons 3 and 5. What do you mean "the ninjas showed up"? This had so much potential, but I think the fact that he never explained makes it funnier. Is it a weird metaphor for something? Did some ninjas actually attack them right before the wedding? Are the ninjas some friends who didn't think they should get married? We'll never know.

Unpopular opinion: I've seen somewhere that Most Wanted was a bad idea from the start, and I'm here to tell you that's wrong. I think it's a tragedy that it got cancelled, because can you imagine the potential? A spinoff of the best show on Earth? Our favourite problematic spy couple on the run breaking the law and causing problems? How is that a bad idea. Even if the script was bad and the plot was bad and everything was bad, it's still extra screentime for two awesome characters. If nothing else, we all know he would have had hilarious one liners, and I would have loved to watch it.

Favorite relationship: Huntingbird. Yes, I know he and Bobbi had a LOT of issues, but that just makes it funnier. Their bickering was on point, and the way he so was so obviously down bad for her the minute the words "demonic hell beast" left his mouth is so pathetic and hilarious. On a more serious note, the way they worked together as agents was great. While they may not have always trusted each other, they always had faith in the other's capabilities to do a good job in the field and stay alive ("Don't die our there"). They worried, sure, but they didn't try to keep the other out of danger Fitzsimmons style because they knew they could handle things, and for the most dysfunctional relationship of the show, that was pretty healthy. As for platonic relationship, Fitz. All they had in common was the fact that they were sassy Brits with serious relationship issues, and that was somehow enough to form a great dynamic. I loved all their little moments in 2.04, especially when Fitz talked about his crush on Jemma in the weirdest, most uncomfortable, and out of context way, and Hunter just went along with it and comforted him.

Favorite headcanon: At some point watching season 6 I decided it was stupid that they hadn't returned to SHIELD, so in my head they did. It just didn't make sense that they still had to live a life on the run when SHIELD was a legitimate organisation again, especially when the new director was their best friend who could have pulled some strings to have them there. It would have been so cool to see them again, not to mention it would have been very helpful for the team. And can you imagine Hunter's reaction at seeing Sarge? If anyone could have added some levity to the situation, I know it's him.

Writing this made me remember how much I love and miss him. Please send me more!

● of course she wants you to be happy but getting involved with your best friends grandson from the future was bound to come with lots of roadblocks

● which is how Jemma and Leo found out about you and Deke

● May went to them and was like this is something we need to talk about immediately

● Jemma and Leo don't really see the problem and were confused as to why May would be against it

● "because eventually Deke will have to go back to his own time period, he can't stay in the past and Y/N can't go to the future without potentially messing up the timeline they are only going to get thier hearts broken"

● "Okay now we see the problem"

● it takes almost a month for their concerns to be brought up because every time they try to they see you two being sweet and couply and they back out

● Daisy "you know one of you are going to have to talk to them eventually"

● Jemma "but Deke was making Y/N pancakes with a smiley face out of whip cream it was so cute I didn't want to bring down the mood!"

● May is the one who finally confronts you and Deke

● "I want you to be happy Y/N but you and Deke are from two different times and-"

● "mom it's okay, we talked about that months ago"

● Jemma "you did?"

● Deke "yeah, we know there's a chance we can't be together forever but isnt it better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all or whatever the saying is?"
