Tell me, what did you think of ML when you first discovered it? I thought Chloe's arc in season 2 was decent for this type of show, even if it could have been better. I also never took Marinette's obsessive behavior over Adrien that seriously until it started getting really grating.

My first interaction with ML consisted of me looking for kids shows to watch in Spanish, finding Miraculous on Netflix, watching maybe three minutes of The Bubbler, and then turning the show off because it didn't seem very good. That's the episode that starts with Marinette freaking out about giving Adrien a birthday present and it gave me the impression that Miraculous was doing the classic female-protagonist-pines-for-the-male-protagonist-who-barely-even-knows-her-name trope, which is not a trope that I'm into. I'm way too ace for that shit. This is the scene in question as I looked it up to make sure I was remembering it correctly:

Marinette: Ah! (she stops right in front of Adrien.) Um, he-- Hey! (she gets nervous as she holds her gift behind her back.) Adrien:(surprised, shyly) Hey. Chloé:(as she watches what's happening outside) Wait! Am I seeing what I think I'm seeing? Don't tell me it's Adrien's birthday?! Sabrina:(checks her tablet, gets surprised, and makes excusing noises while smiling sheepishly.) Chloé:(facepalms) Ugh, do I have to do everything myself? Seriously, what are you good for? (walks toward Adrien.) Marinette:(nervously) I, uh, I wanted to, umm, gift you a make-– I mean, gift you a give I made-- I mean... Chloé:(yawns while Marinette is talking and then shoves her away) Out of the way. (she acts sweet.) Happy birthday, Adrien! (throws herself onto him and gives him a kiss on the cheek.) Mwah! Adrien:(surprised) Yeah, thanks Chlo.

This backs up my vague memory that my initial assumption was that Adrien and Chloé were friends while Adrien didn't know who Marinette was because he was clearly much more comfortable with Chloé. Same goes for Nino who was talking to Adrien earlier in this scene.

I'm not sure when this first watch occurred, but I know it was at least a year before I revisited the show. I made a friend in another fandom and that friend was transitioning out of Miraculous, but they had a lot of really good Miraculous fanart and even some fanfic which got me curious as I couldn't understand why anyone would be into the show given my dismal initial impression.

On this friend's recommendation, my SO and I started watching Miraculous an episode or two at a time. I was pretty unimpressed with the actual show, but I started reading early fandom fanfic between our watching sessions and that kept me interested enough to keep watching. My initial impression of the show didn't really change until we watched Origins. That's the episode that really made me fall in love with the canon characters as it took everything about the show and elevated it. The crushes had depth! The Chloé/Adrien thing wasn't just the bitchy rich girl going after the popular boy! Gabriel was confirmed to be the big bad! Things were suddenly going places and that honestly wasn't surprising.

It's incredibly common for kids shows to have lackluster first seasons where they don't really commit to anything major re plot because they're just testing the waters to see if they'll be green lit for more seasons. Because of this, I was under the impression that Origins must have been when they got green lit and season two was going to do the standard kids show thing where they really get to dive into the plot and characters in a big way now that they're making money. This assumption was backed up by the addition of the new heroes to the show's intro.

For the first half of season two, I was invested as it seemed like we were finally getting seasonal arcs. Chloé seemed to be getting set up for some sort of character arc, which I was all for as I enjoy a good mean girl arc. We also had some tension brewing between our heroes with Fu favoring Marinette, a dynamic that felt more accidental than planned since it only happened because Marinette found the grimoire at the end of season one. I thought all of that was going to come to a head with Chloé's Queen Bee debut as things had seemingly been set up for Chloé to be Adrien's pick for a Miraculous.

Then Queen Bee actually happened and my excitement quickly faded. I still cannot think of a less interesting way for Chloé to get and use the bee. No one gives it to her and she outs herself on national television right away? Talk about wasting an idea. Clearly this had just been a one-off thing done so that the show could drive up hype for season two based on promo images of Chloé as a hero.

But it wasn't a one off thing. For some reason, they kept bringing Queen Bee back and that's when I knew we were in for a bad time because that should have never happened. It especially shouldn't have happened when Marinette was giving out the miraculous. I could maybe see a setup where Adrien gives Chloé a second chance, but Marinette trusting Chloé made no sense:

Marinette: I must choose someone who's not impressed by people in power. Who can help me trap Malediktator. Huh?! Of course! That's it. (reaches for the Miraculous of the Bee) Wait, what am I thinking? (facepalms)

Yeah, what are you thinking? Alya was your first choice for the bee, she isn't impressed by people in power, and she wasn't hit by Malediktator, so go grab her! Why would you pick Chloé?

Long story short, I kept watching because the show wasn't terrible, my SO enjoyed hearing me dunk on it as we watched it, and I was really enjoying the fan content, but I didn't have much faith in canon after the midpoint of season two and I continually lost faith as the seasons progressed. I never pictured it getting as bad as seasons five, but I only had hopes for Miraculous to be truly good for about 2 weeks as that's how long it took us to get from Origins to the Queen Bee mess. I was also disappointed by Alya and Nino's hero journeys. I expected them to be chosen for grander reasons. As is, it felt like they only got recruited because their loved ones were in danger.

Since you brought up Marinette's crush, I'll end by saying that I have never been a fan of that style of crush-based humor (once again, way too ace for that shit), but it didn't bother me in a serious way because it was very obviously meant to be humorous. I just suffered through the jokes when they happened and then moved on as there was no reason to dwell on them. It probably helped that I was reading a lot of fanfic and even the people who love the show generally agree that Marinette's crush should be played down in more serious stories.

The only time Marinette's crush bothered me was Derision as that episode straight up destroyed her character. It also made the writers look awful because they made Kim the bad guy for laughing at Marinette's behavior, but we'd just spent over four seasons being told Marinette's behavior was a joke, so what is the lesson here? Are we all supposed to feel guilty for laughing at a trauma response we didn't know was a trauma response? Are the writers saying that trauma is funny? How can you be so tone deaf?

So, a lightningblast is not an instant-kill move? If it still is, then this plan can only work if Azula had supernatural clairvoyance, precognition, ESP, and/or is a Jedi. Which I recall none of these things being revealed.

Zuko completely spilled the beans about Azula making the blast and that Aang survived. Two episodes later, at the boiling rock, oh look! Azula is perfectly fine!

Ah yes. The blackmail. People just loooove to frame Azula's whole "giving Zuko the credit for killing the Avatar" maneuver as some master plan that Tzeentch would be proud of in order to bring her brother to ruin. Thing is, she had no way of knowing that Aang would have any chance of survival.

Something that she herself brought up before:

See? She genuinely believed the Avatar was dead and that Zuko had nothing to worry about. The whole myth about bringing Zuko back just to use him for blackmail doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Even with the common misconception that Azula is power-hungry, why bring back and restore somebody's status when she could've just used the Dai Li back in the Earth Kingdom?

Bringing Zuko back honestly did more damage to her chances for the throne in the long run if that's what she was after...and to her as well.

Did Azula blackmail Zuko? Yes. But you also have to remember that she figured out that Zuko was withholding information from her. Here's a post by my dear friend @akiizayoi4869 which goes into detail, but the short gist of it was that both siblings are equally guilty of hurting each other with this mess. And trying to pin the blame squarely on Azula is an attempt to make Zuko look better than he actually was.

But to the second point. It is true that we didn't see what Ozai did when Zuko threw her under the bus (a rather dick move of him I might add since he didn't really gain anything from it). Thing is, I don't think Ozai would've hurt Azula if he still had some use for her. He'd probably scare the hell out of her and give her an ultimatum of killing Zuko or killing the Avatar to get back into his good graces. Since she failed in both, that could factor in his decision to abandon her during Sozin's Comet since she wasn't needed anymore.

Honestly, that potential scene is a huge missed opportunity. One, it actually gives Ozai more development and elaborates on the relationship between him and Azula. Two, it helps paint Azula in a more sympathetic light and clears up some of the ambiguity around her actions. And three, establish that between the two, Ozai is the more heinous one if he threatens to do the same thing to Azula that he did to Zuko. It certainly would give this line a bit more weight:

Thing is...Book 3 had a LOT of writing problems and shortchanging characters when it came to development. We didn't really get any time with anyone from the Royal Family not named Zuko outside of "The Beach" to humanize them too much. Some of the story decisions such as Azula's breakdown do feel a bit rushed. And we also missed out on storylines which could've developed her a bit more, like the arranged marriage subplot. So while her getting a scene like I mentioned would make a lot of sense in terms of character development, I'm not really surprised given what we've seen from Book 3.

The core of Tears of Themis is that it has FOUR love interests, which plays hand in hand with our four agencies, well if that matters since we'll focus more on the personalities.. Since I've been YELLING all over tumblr about their work all day, for some reason ( :> ) I'm going to talk about @paraparadigm and @polypolymorph 's Soul Magic in Gathering Souls. (It's NECROMANCY!!!!!! I said I'd yell with ya'll.) Actually. Let me just.... let me let it speak for itself.

The fans? Hmmmmmm. It's a good one. I really have to think about this one because obviously LDB / or LDB & fics are very common. But less so NPC/NPC. So I'm actually going to talk about a ship I didn't know I needed, or that other people needed, and still am baffled ya'll were behind something that, yes, originally started out as a hellship. I'm talking about Teldryn/Athis. (Ceth, augh your art. I love it. It's here for those wondering.) This ship has spawned two and a half stories so far and I really hope more people pick this ship or platonic relationship up. It works in its weird little way and the people who loved them and read my writing (the fans!) make me want to keep writing more of that.

I usually am pretty transparent about what I love in fandom. I suppose what I don't say often is that while I don't read pwp, there are a great many fics that feature some degree of smut that has to do with the plot of the story, most of the time. I'll usually read through it unaffected, though, to be perfectly frank. ("Ah yes, good on ya, woo, you did it, now what's the next part of the story...?")

People assume because of my aceness that it affects me in some negative way. It doesn't. I just find it generally incredibly dull LOL. But there are a few pieces where it makes perfect sense to be happening, for the characters. When it's not in there for shock value, then it's good. Even better if it's more psychological, ie -- the less actually said, the more vivid? If that makes sense. No ikea manuals here, pff. No thanks, I know and I'm more than over it.

So I came across @shiba-deer's ship ranking post and I thought "fuck it. i'm gonna do one, too!" 😝 I tend to agree with most of their points with just a few differences including the addition of shitty Canva edits by me.

Disclaimer: As the title suggests, these are just my opinions. I know some folks may disagree and that's okay! I'm not trying to flame anyone or start any drama, so please keep it chill. We're all just clowns here. 🤡

Anyways, here we go~

SQUIDBOB - god tier

Ah yes, SquidBob. The only "god tier" ranked ship on this list. Are we surprised? There are just so many great moments between these two and so much that could be said. Alas, I'll spare the long monologue and just say that their dynamic is absolute perfection. It's literally the basis of a great, slow-burn romance - you can't make this shit up. I love "opposites attract" for the exact reasons that I disliked some of the other pairings on this list. It's notable that while Spongebob is mostly cheerful and exuberant and Squidward is mostly grumpy and reserved, that isn't all they are; Squidward very much has a fun side just as Spongebob has a serious one. They keep things interesting and bring out the best in each other (whether Squiddy wants to admit that or not), in spite of their differences. And per this post, they actually do have a lot in common as well! I could wax poetic about why a fucking sponge and octopus are literal soulmates, but idk. I just think they're neat. 💖

PLABS - top tier

Now this was not a ship that was initially on my radar when I first joined the fandom. But I am happy to say that has definitely changed and it is now a favorite of mine! I love a good friends-to-enemies-to-friends-to-lovers ship, and Plabs is one of the best. I feel like they have such a "will they, won't they" thing going on that leaves me on the edge of my seat. I definitely want to look into them more. And who knows? Maybe I'll get around to writing a fic? 😉 As for canon, I could list various examples but there is just so much compelling evidence in favor of this for me not to ship.

KARENDY - top tier

This is a ship that I have grown to really enjoy. While I would like to see more of them together in the show, the few interactions we have gotten are great fodder for a budding romance. I like how they have so much in common (ex. intelligence, interest in inventing), but not to the point where they clash (which I likely will talk about later in the list) and it actually benefits them and adds to their connection. They just have so much potential! They inspire my creativity the more I look into them. I mean, c'mon. Sandy literally said Karen was "beautiful" and Karen's wiki says her relationship with Sandy is "a purely positive one."

SQUIDLIAM - top tier (as exes)

This list simply wouldn't be complete without this pairing. If you've read SquidBob fanfiction, Squilliam is the perfect villainous ex-boyfriend. 😈 It could be that I'm a sucker for villain redemptions (spoiler: i am) or perhaps @misslattesart has made me consider alternative possibilities for this character (probably both tbh), but I find myself increasingly intrigued by this dynamic - particularly Squilliam's motivation for constantly trying to outdo Squidward when he appears to have it all. While I'm part of the majority of fandom that headcanons them as exes, it's evident that they were definitely romantically involved at some point. But I do agree that they would inevitably find themselves in conflict eventually. After all, they broke up for a reason.

PLANKBOB - mid tier

Fun fact about this ship: PlankBob actually got me into the fandom (more on that here), so there's a level of fondness for me there. However, it is purely on a crack-ship basis and I've more or less stopped shipping it since joining in favor of other ships on this list. But idk man, it's just a funny dynamic.

PATWARD - mid tier

This is such a hilarious and chaotic match that literally no one would see coming. I think everyone probably knows about that one moment in Kamp Koral. I can't find the clip right now but, I mean, what the hell even was that?? Still, I'm only giving it a "mid tier" rank as, like PlankBob, it's more of a pairing that I'd ship ironically.

SQUIDVIA - mid tier

I mean, Squidward went on a practice date with Spongebob, who was significantly more interested in him than Squilvia was. She didn't get all that much screentime, despite her being the girl Squidward was presumably trying to impress. I'd argue that Squiddy wasn't all that into her either, but rather the idea of her because they are so similar and he thinks that's the kind of person he should be with. I don't really feel any sort of way about this ship, but their relationship probably wouldn't last. SquidBob FTW.

PUFFKRABS - bottom tier but would be mid tier if not for their bullshit (very confusing, I know)

Surprisingly, I do feel like this pairing has potential... if it weren't for a major Plankton-shaped obstacle holding them back. I've touched on this a bit in my fic, but apparently Mrs. Puff and Mr. Krabs have been/were secretly dating for 16 years. Now, 16 years is not a number to scoff at. However, the "secretly" part is giving me pause and sending up all the red flags. 🚩🚩Both of them are single/divorced/widowed/etc. They are not having an affair. So... why keep it a secret? As far as I'm aware, neither of them have any reason not to be open about it (assuming that I'm not off base about this whole secrecy aspect). Sure, not everyone needs to be in their business. But then it's implied that even Pearl doesn't know. I have no idea who made the call but if I was Mrs. Puff and everyone, including my boyfriend's daughter, was in the dark about our relationship and he made no moves to give me any sort of real commitment after over a decade... I'd start to wonder what the fuck was up.

PATBOB - bottom tier (sorry 😔)

I was really conflicted on this ranking because PatBob has all the makings of a great ship - they're best friends, they look cute together, and they have a lot in common. However, the reason I ranked this so low is mostly because their friendship is so much stronger than any sort of romantic connection. I feel like whenever these two are put into a remotely romantic scenario (ex. when Spongebob they raised a baby scallop), that's when the cracks start to show. As friends, they have a great dynamic and are so funny together, even when they get into arguments/spats. However, as romantic partners, it feels unnatural. As shown in the episode I mentioned as an example, Patrick gets to be his silly, lazy self whereas Spongebob has to take the more serious, rational role - which is not his natural inclination, even if he has that side. I just can't help but feel like this would become a pattern if they were actually in a relationship. I live for best friends-to-lovers... but this ship is not the one.

PLANKAREN - bottom tier

I was originally going to rank this "hell no tier" but it's not the worst thing I've ever seen - mostly just a prime example of compulsory heterosexuality (this was a great response on the topic). I still dislike the pairing quite a bit though. Like, are they even married? The two of them are so off-and-on, hot-and-cold together and there's just something so... forced about it. I just think they both would be so much happier if they weren't together, you know? I don't doubt that they support - and maybe even love - each other a bit, but to quote my own fic (not to plug lol): "you can love and care about someone without being in love with them."

SPANDY - hell no tier

I've never liked this ship, even prior to joining the fandom. Hell, even when I was a kid and didn't know what shipping was, I still felt there was something off. As I've gotten older and wiser though, I think it really comes down to Sandy and Spongebob having virtually zero romantic chemistry. Nada. Zilch. Despite SBSP being episodic in nature, their dynamic consistently gives me sibling vibes - which does not translate well into a romantic connection at all. They're just miles better as friends and I don't see that changing in the slightest.

(And this is just a personal nit-pick vs. a solid point but I find myself put off by the frequently OOC portrayal in fanworks - particularly for Sandy, who is actually one of my favorite characters. I know as writers and artists, we're going to take some creative liberties. But if you have to drastically alter a character's personality and/or physical traits to suit your ship narrative, it's probably not a good ship. 🤷)

SQUANDY - hell no tier

I do love seeing Squidward and Sandy getting along and being pals - I mean, look at this interaction (sorry, couldn't find a better gif)! However, any sort of romantic connotation gives me a serious case of the "ick" (SquidBob be damned, honestly). Hence the very low ranking. They are strangely more believable than Spandy, but that's probably the only redeeming thing about this as a ship tbh. Otherwise, it's a "hell no" from me.

He arched an eyebrow as the insolent boy took a seat, his own wine glass in hand. Erik tried to be the bigger person, truly he did, but the wretched boy made it so difficult sometimes.

“Something on your mind?” he asked innocently, and was rewarded with seeing Raoul instantly bristle. Ah, he was simply too easy to rile, Erik thought with satisfaction.

“Absolutely nothing.”

“Indeed? I thought as much, but it’s always nice to be validated.” Really, irritating the boy was no challenge at all.

Raoul had turned an unflattering shade of red, Erik noted with satisfaction. Just as he was about to return his attention to Nadir, the boy spoke again. “By the way, nice shirt, jackass.”

Erik slowly allowed his gaze to return to the boy. Why was he cursed? Why did every person in his life have to be so irritating? Except for Christine, of course.

He stared at Raoul until he flinched slightly, but still he refused to break Erik’s gaze. There's been a few one shots that I started that never went anywhere, but the only one that had enough there to come to mind is a story I started right before I had the idea for Second Chances. It was also a marriage of convenience story (surprise lol), where Christine knows Erik is a man and not an angel. Mamma Valérius gets sick, and Erik offers to pay for a doctor. Christine thinks he will only do it if she marries him, and he thinks Christine is marrying him because she wants to. I don't really know what else would happen though so I've never gone back to it

This is a hard one for me, as I don't necessarily have strong headcanons. I think there are so many ways to see the story that I can get into many different interpretations of it. However, as far as what I like to write:

Erik: I like an Erik that was probably a very sensitive and kind child, and it was everything he encountered that made him the way he is, as in he became who he had to in order to survive. And I like to think that under the right circumstances, he could reclaim at least some of who he once was

Christine: I like to write a Christine that recognizes Erik as her 'person', at least on some level, but has to deal with feeling as though she shouldn't want him, both due to his actions and to outside pressures

This is from a story I started last summer but haven't posted anything from yet:

'Trailing along after her father and M. Khan, Christine glanced up shyly at the tall man walking silently next to her. Uncertain if she should remain quiet or not, she decided to try venturing a question.

“Destler is an unusual last name. Is it British?”

Taking so long to answer that Christine had decided he wasn’t going to at all, M. Destler slowly shook his head. “No, it’s just a name I took by chance. I have no idea what the origin is.”

“Oh,” she answered weakly. He really was the strangest person she had ever encountered. “I’m sorry if I offended you, M. Destler.”

“Offended me? You haven’t. But, I would prefer that you call me Erik.”

“Of course,” she answered automatically, wondering if she was trapped in some kind of bizarre dream. Wanting to be polite, she added, “And, you may call me Christine.” Slightly encouraged by his brief nod at her words, she continued, “So, with the given name Erik, are you Scandinavian? I was born in Sweden.”

Again, he shook his head. “No, I’m not Scandinavian. I suppose you can say I’m not really from anywhere.”

Thankfully they had arrived at the wagon by this point, because Christine truly had no idea what to reply to that statement. Fortunately, M. Destler - or Erik, as he wanted her to call him - seemed to forget what they had been discussing, completely changing the subject.'

Can I say that a professional writer saying "oh I love this character and I show my love by making them suffer!" feels... not professional? It's a common joke in fandom, but you can't just put a character through the ringer and seriously expect people to get attached to them *just* because of their pain. Just look at Belle: without angst, she's literally a husk. I would expect paid writers to break free of the fanfic-y "torture porn" mindset...

Surprising no one, I agree.

It's one of the reasons why I've always been harsh on the "dark = instant quality" mindset. All the darkness and sadness and tragedy you can think of means absolutely nothing if you don't care about the characters or the story. The zombot arc already had the pacing of the Water Temple in Ocarina of Time, but it was made ten times more agonizing by the fact that I didn't care about what was happening. It's no coincidence that this philosophy is recited the most by people who can't write compelling characters for shit, making it extremely obvious that they weaponize it as a Get Out Of Writing Free card. And Twitter laps it up every time, because it's Twitter, where any instance of critical thinking is met with "Goodnight girl, I'll see ya tomorrow."

Which leads into my feelings on Belle. Characters going through shitty times is fine... as an extra that contributes to the character's growth, or if not that, then simply how they deal with tough situations in general. It's an optional flavor. It does not work as the entire feast. Using relentless misery as a substitute for actual character and personality is something that other IDW characters are guilty of to varying degrees (Whisper, Kit, I guess Surge as well since we're supposed to feel bad for her because of the Starline hallucinations), but nowhere is it more audacious than with Belle. You know how I bring up the current year trend of OCs not being allowed to do anything other than stand there, as an over-correction to the old cliches associated with them? That's Belle; she exists to exist. Bad things happen to her, and she whines about bad things happening to her. End of story, bye bye, see ya later.

By contrast (ah shit, here I go again), Trudy certainly goes through her share of pain and danger, both in her backstory and in the present, but that's not ALL there is to her. Her negative experiences explain some aspects about her, but only some of them. She's allowed to exist beyond that side of her. And good things happen to her too, because when she gets to be happy, excited, playful, all the rest, doesn't that make the moments where she's in a perilous jam all the more impactful? She has a character. She's allowed to be a character, one that's allowed to bounce off the other personalities of the game cast, and one that doesn't spend all her time moping. What's she's been through in the past, and goes through in the present, revolves around her, not the other way around.

(BTW, you brought this up earlier, but it's strange how Stanley claims to have a reputation for writing nothing but fluff, yet she's a diehard devotee of this practice as evidenced with her IDW output, and while I never read GotF since it wasn't my thing and I don't care about Silver as a character, I was aware of what it did to Sonic and Eggman at the start. If I were feeling suspicious, I'd almost think she exaggerated this alleged reputation just to make it seem more impressive and Yass Queen Slay when she Subverted Our Expectatons.)

Hi. Sorry for the following rant, but you're the only person I know who seems to be having a hate-love relationship with genshin. Please feel free to ignore this though if you want.

So I was doing Zhongli's first story quest, about Havria, and it's revealed that when she died there was backlash due to her godly powers. Now I don't remember for certain if this is canon or fanon, but I also thought that the reason Osial was imprisoned and not killed was due to the backlash. So how did Zhongli's "death" not get questioned then? Like Rex Lapis' death should have leveled at least half of Teyvat. And maybe sure, common citizens wouldn't have this information, but at least the Adepti should have known. Was it explained somewhere and I just missed it?

Like Liyue arc was so full of plot holes it's not even funny anymore. (And this is coming from someone who is willing to overlook a few plot holes). Is it so hard for Mihoyo to hire some competent writers, or at least keep track of all that's being said. Like I get that writing is hard, but if you strip it to the bare bones genshin is a simple story, and I think if they had kept that in mind they could have done so much better.

Again sorry for the long rant. i guess I just needed to vent a little bit.

You made the classic mistake. When reading Genshin, you felt the hollowness of the storyline and the lack of any logic or explanation behind its events, so you instinctively tried to connect what was happening to other parts of the story. Your self-made explanation made sense, it felt good, so you assumed it was actually canon. But it's not.

There is no reason ever given for why Morax sealed his enemies instead of killing them. This is simply never discussed or mentioned. Same way there is no explanation for why the Traveler wants to see Morax's corpse so bad, or why we think a Guizhong Ballista will help us look for the cocogoat. We just do it because the plot needs us to do it.

In regard to gods exploding when they die, it seems to be something they can choose to control. The energy Andrius unleashed when he died (because, yeah, he's a ghost in present day) was actually beneficial to Mondstadt, since it change the previously frozen climate to something warmer. There's also no mention of Deshret or Rukkhadevata causing any big explosions with their deaths.

Take your personal pick of whether Havria was just taken too much by surprise to control it, was too weak and pathetic to control it, or if she decided to fuck up those bitches who shanked her on purpose.

In regard to why the adepti never question the whole "Rex Lapis was MURDERED" thing, it's because his supposed murder is just a plot device to have a cool sequence of events where the Traveler is a fugitive for some reason. After the end of Act 1, the entire concept of his death being caused by someone intentionally is largely dropped. EDIT: On replay, there's some mention from Keqing that the Qixing would nominally be the best suspects (though no explanation how they could have possibly achieved it), but that the adepti simply do not believe humans could have done it. On the other hand, they also never mention the adepti looking for any non-human culprit, so... do they think he just dropped dead from old age? This is never explained. At the end, the Qixing just tell the human populace that Morax failed a heavenly trialed and uh ascended or something.

At the most generous, you can say that "murder" was just Ningguang's kneejerk reaction and she sweeps it under the rug as quickly as possible once she realizes how stupid it is, and the adepti never took it that seriously. They're just mad in a generic way that Rex Lapis is dead, whatever the cause might be.

Honestly, Genshin's plot being stupid is like... it's bad. But it's made infinitely worse for me by that fact that the characters are worse. The characterization and (lack of) character arcs are just... I can't do this. Why does this """story""" even exist? It's so pointless.

He’s as same as Lucifer (It’s weird, because he’s like him about being neat), but the only different is; his room is full of flower! -I don’t know how he can breath there, but he doesn’t have any allergies? :/  How on the three worlds??. Possibly YOU WILL GET ALLERGIES even if you don't have them! So don’t stay there for long

He’s got the old model of big bed that has got curtains around it (I don’t know this kind of bed).

Beel:

He shares a room with his twins –Belphe- and the room is very big –actually it’s got upstairs. He has clean room, not very full of stuff and not empty.

His bed is normal, just he’s got a STEAK-SHAPED PILLOW! Sometimes he chows it in sleep!

Belphe:

As I said, his room is common with Beel and is like him; but Belphe has got a lots of PILLOW! PILLOW IS EVERY WHERE!!! (Like Satan and Levi). Also CLOCKS! –because he cannot wake up at time… But still it’s useless, he doesn’t wake up.

His bed is normal, but is surrounded with PILLOWS. Sometimes you can’t find him, because he BURIED UNDER PILLOWS!

Walking with Amber towards a tavern you've never seen before, you stare in awe. "How have I never seen this before..?" You mutter under your breath, just above a whisper. "Huh? What was that?" Amber stops walking and asks you. "Hm? Oh uh.. nothing important." Amber gives you a questioning face. "Okay?" Thankfully she starts walking again, you've really gotta stop speaking what's on your mind out loud.

"Come on! Let's go inside!"

Giving her a small nod, you follow behind her. Inside the tavern you see Kaeya and Rosaria drinking on the bar counter, meanwhile Traveller, Paimon, and Eula wave you both over. "Amber, (Name)! Over heeeeree!" Paimon says excitedly. Before walking towards them, you see Jean and Lisa talking to no one infront of them, it's almost as if there actually is a person they are talking to. This piqued your interest and you tell Amber that you'll join them in a second.

Making your way towards the duo, you greet them. "Good evening, Acting Grand Master Jean and Lisa. What are you guys talking about?" You curiously ask them. "Ah!Greetings, (Name). We were just talking about how the tavern has been doing." Jean replies with a smile. "Why you sit down and join us?" Lisa adds. You nod and smile. "Sir- uhm, I mean Master Diluc, will it be ok with you for (Name) to sit beside you?" Jean asks, while looking infront of her.

Meanwhile in Diluc's perspective, before he went to the tavern, Jean and Lisa spotted him and made a conversation with him. The three agreed on sitting down on a table and continued their conversation.

"May I ask how the Tavern has been doing?" Jean says politely. "Ah, the tavern has been doing quite well, although a certain bard has been consuming lots of our dandelion wine." To that, Lisa chuckles. "Ah! Greetings, (Name). We were just talking about how the tavern has been doing." Jean speaks to no one in particular. Diluc squints his eyes to where Jean and Lisa are looking at. "Why you sit down and join us?" Lisa speaks aswell. Diluc can't help but furrow his eyebrows. "Sir- uhm, I mean Master Diluc, will it be ok with you for (Name) to sit beside you?"

"What..?" (Name) and Diluc say in unison, well they don't know that because of the fact that they are both soulmates and are unable to see eachother nor hear eachother. "Oh, I'm sorry, is it not ok with the both of you?" Jean worries. "Who's Master Diluc..?" You ask. Diluc, still confused asked Jean. "What do you mean by that?"

Jean and Lisa exchange looks before Lisa looks as if she realized something. "I've read a book about rare and common soulmate prompts, there was one in particular that piqued my interest. It was a soulmate prompt where in the pair won't be able to see, hear, feel or know anything about their Soulmate. It's like they never existed in their point of views, the only way to be able to see their soulmate is to trigger a certain event or thing. So it could be very much possible that.." Jean widens her eyes, "(Name) and Master Diluc are.. Soulmates?" Jean says in disbelief.

The four of you went quiet.

"Soulmates..? I have.. a soulmate?" You ask still skeptical about this whole thing.

"What trigger? How will my uhm.. soulmate and i, trigger it?" Diluc asks Lisa, a bit embarrassed and at the same time surprised by the fact that he has a person destined to be with him.

Lisa tries to think of something, but fails to do so. "I have an idea." Jean declares. The three of them look at Jean, she gets a paper and pen from her pocket and lays it on top of the table. "The both of you will communicate with the use of this. I don't know if it'll work but we'll see." Jean pushes the paper and pen towards Diluc. "Write anything you want to say to your soulmate." She says.

Diluc grabs the pen, and for a split second, he hesitated. Diluc never really thought much about his Soulmate, he had always thought that'd he'd be better off without a soulmate, mainly because he doesn't want to fall in love and just eventually end up losing them. He starts writing on the paper, afterwards he pushes the paper toward Jean.

Meanwhile, you see the pen lift up and start writing on the paper. After the writing stops, the paper gets pushed towards Jean, and it was kind of creepy, judging by the fact that you can't see your soulmate, and to add salt to the wound, you also can't hear him. And if you're being honest a part of you still doesn't entirely believe it.

Jean saw what he wrote and held it up so you could see what it said.

"Are you really my soulmate?"

That's what the paper said, you blink. So it was true? I mean, you had doubts but you didn't think you'd forget about them after just reading this note. Upon seeing your reaction, Jean hands you the pen and paper. You gulp, seemingly nervous. You shyly grab the pen and start writing on the paper.

Diluc sees the pen float while it wrote on the paper. He didn't dare utter a word, he was unable to because of how shocked he was. You finish writing on the paper, Jean took the paper and held it up to Diluc.

"I guess so, I thought I was part of the minority of people who don't have soulmates. My name's (Name), though you probably already know that."

With that, Diluc took the pen and paper and quickly replied.

"I'm Diluc, the owner of Angel's Share and Dawn Winery. I wish to know more about you, (Name)."

You swore you felt your heart flutter, you thought that maybe having a soulmate wasn't too bad. Finding a new found happiness, you pick up the pen and reply aswell.

"I wish to know more about you aswell, Soulmate :)"

TRANSLATION OF THG

Want to have some fun? ;) I planned to do a post about Russian translation of THG for such a long time and I think if I don’t do it now it will be never. It’s just a small part but very significant. First of all I must say that translating is a hard work, it’s practically magic. To save the voice of original but make it understandable for another culture? Magic! As a student of “journalism and philology” department and major in international journalism I have done A TONE of translations myself. It’s exhausting, really. And sometimes it’s good and sometimes not. And well, I don’t like Russian translation of thg, haha. Let’s talk about one moment, small but very significant. Peeta’s reaping. Here are the quotes.

Rough translation from russian: I don't even have time to wish it wasn't Gale, as she already says: - Peeta Mellark! "Oh, no! Not him!" - flashes through my head, I know this guy, although I have never exchanged a word with him. The odds are not in my favor today.

Like… what the hell? In the original Katniss totally freaks out, repeats Peeta’s name in her head two times (and never in translation!), calls him “the owner of the name” (how do you like this “guy” in Russian translation?), says “NO, the odds...” implying that Peeta being reaped adds a lot to her distress. And all this exclamation marks? It makes her sound hysterical but we don’t see any reason (like why she is hysterical about some “guy”?).

And it’s just a couple of lines! But I think you can see that Katniss has absolutely different voice in translation and I’m not surprised that before I read thg in English i didn’t really like Katniss as a character at all.

One small thing but really made me angry because I draw thg: they didn’t bothered to translate description of one of the wedding dresses (in English we have four dresses described but in russian only three). Whyyyy? What’s wrong with the dresses? Aaaaaaaaaaa!!!

Ah, my favorite part in all translations are names! It’s always such a fun to see how it handled (because it’s magic too: original names sound TOO odd in other languages often). In russian translation they had to change some names too. For example Katniss is Kit-niss (Katniss really uncomfortable to pronounce in russian) and Peeta unsurprisingly just Pete because oh my gosh you can’t imagine how odd “Peeta” sounds in russian haha 😂 you see we change our names while talking (endings) for example my name is ИлонА, and when I want to say that Ilona is not here it will be ИлонЫ нет, you need to ask Ilona = вам надо спросить ИлонУ, give it to Ilona = отдай это ИлонЕ. So it’s just doesn’t work with Peeta, because “-a” ending is common for female names and when you try to change “Peeta” = Пита it’s just sounds damn confusing. Haha, imagine my surprise when I found out that he is Peeta actually 😂. Here you can listen to russian pronunciation of the names, click the sound button. Gale is still Gale, Finnick is still Finnick, but Rue is Ru-ta (Rue doesn’t sounds like a name in russian), Cato is Cato-n (more masculine sound), Glimmer is Diadema (russian word for “tiara”) cause Glimmer sounds bad, Clove is Mirta (Clove sounds like very old funny russian name so they change it to sounds according the meaning of the name), Thresh is Tsep (well thresh is not a good word in russian, and Цеп really gives cool impression), Foxface is just Lisa (=fox in russian, witch makes sense), Brutus is Brut (that’s common translation for Brutus), Enobaria is EnoRaBia because that sounds A LOT better, Gloss =Blesk (literall translation), ah, and Buttercup is Lyutik (that’s how the name of a flower sounds in russian). Effie is Effie but not Trinket (sounds odd) but “Bryak” which sounds even more odd to me. Hmmm, is that all?..

Ah, ah! Magic of name translation! It must not only sounds like the original but also be close to the meaning and have parallels. My favorite! “Katniss” sounds like “cat-niss”, and it coursed Gale to misheard it like “Catnip”. Catnip = Кэтнип makes no sense in russian at all (catnip = кошачья мята, so it’s definitely too long). So by making her “Китнисс” (Kit-niss) they saved that cat parallel. Gale calls her “КиссКисс” and that’s how we ask (call) cats to come to us. And well it actually sounds like Kiss-Kiss in English ;)))) Well, Gale, that’s sweet of you. I even like it better than Catnip. (Hey, KissKiss).

I don’t know if anyone interested in this, maybe I’m the only one who likes translating talks 😂.

P.S. my favorite #2: Rye sounds like Рай in russian and “рай” means heaven. Heaven! Ahhhhh, I love my boy. ❤️❤️❤️
