Megamind Komahina AU (MegaLuck)
I saw this post on Youtube by @/Mcdonalds-Qiqi and I was like I should 100% write about this. And that's what I did. It's not done, like, at all, but it's prob the longest thing I've ever written (6000 words is a lot for me). I rewatched Megamind for it and that was a fun watch and YES this is 100% just Megamind but with Komahina flavouring so have a little taste with some scenes under the cut.
(Also this wasn't gonna be my first writing post but I mean I'm silly at heart sometimes yknow.)
If someone asked Komaeda how he was doing, he’d usually respond with “Fine, but I’m sure my luck will kick in at some point.” Had they asked him now, he’d say, “Ah, I’m fine” and not dwell any further on what would be considered quite an unlucky day. Alas, good luck will surely come out of this, even if his body is used as a vessel to do so.
Falling from a high depth does not feel like flying.
It just feels like falling from a high altitude, and an instinctive part of himself still wants to salvage this, remain alive even after losing essentially everything. He always loses everything in the end, doesn’t he? This is something he’s prepared for his entire life. Yet, of course, it still doesn’t seem to curb that jolt of displeasure that permeates through his body, the uncertainty in knowing that you want to cling and push everything away at the same time just to preserve your… emotions, fickle as they are. [But he’s the reason he’s here, after all].
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
When it came down to it, he was lucky to live, even if that luck is substantiated by losing his parents and meeting the other that had everything given to him on a silver platter.
He and Naegi weren’t in the same class, but whenever his luck struck, Makoto was there to stop it, and everyone blamed him for the bad things that happened. He couldn’t hate them for it either. He blames himself too.
Some people don't really believe in such unseeable forces. Yet how else could he explain a plane going rogue, and being the only living being to see the terrible aftermath of it? Of experiencing being kidnapped, and being able to get out of that? Who else could it be besides Lady Luck?
Yet he is grateful to her. Otherwise, how else would he be rich? Be smart of mind, besides being tainted in health? He should be grateful...
He should be.
But he looks at his arm and only speaks to the metal that is there, the little characters on the screen being his only company. Everyone else stares at the teacher pointing at the board toward something he figured out already, when he last snuck a glance at it anyway. Now, he's left with his familiar position of facing brown wallpaper. It's a very boring brown. It's worse when he has to hear his classmates talking about him. They're all so void of doing anything useful.
"Can we pwease pwease pwease do something?! This is, like, soooo boring!"
The class hushes her, along with her fellow companion on the screen. Indeed, his classmates would be more useful in another way. They're so predictable.
In a quieter tone, the pink-haired girl looks up from the console in her hands to say, "You can go play the quiet game, Junko. That'll surely entertain you, I think." And immediately looks back down. Junko squawks her protests. He wonders if Chiaki is actually playing a game, or if the sprite's just for show.
Nagito hums. The AI instantly blinks at him, crossing her arms. "The fuck? What's got you looking so happy?"
"Hope is going to be plentiful today."
"What the hell's that supposed to mea-"
BOOM!
"OH HELL YEAH!"
"JUNKO!!!"
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
Hajime blearily opens his eyes. Light blinds his vision, and he blinks it away. As it clears, fluffy white hair and pale skin greet him, a white T-shirt hanging loosely off their thin frame. Their long eyelashes frame the entrancing evergreen eyes, with a foggy dreaminess melting into him. Is this an angel?
"Oh, you're awake." The voice says.
Who...? "Leave me alone."
The person steps back. "Sorry, I'm not about to do that when you look that tired. Are you okay? You seem pretty out of it."
He stares outside. There's a beautiful moon out, and again, no stars. Typical. "...It's been a rough day." He cuddles the soft fabric closer. So nice and warm-
Wait... soft fabric?
He immediately looks down to the dark green clothing in his hand.
"Oh, yeah, you started shivering so I just gave you my sweater. You're free to keep it if you want."
His face burns, and he wordlessly tosses the sweater back. "Thanks, but I'm fine. Who are you? I wasn’t expecting to see anyone else besides Touko."
The pale man's smile turns serene. "Ah, I’m new, I started a while back. I’m helping Touko clear out some essentials since the building is getting renovations. It should be happening fairly soon, so let’s get out of here, shall we?"
"Really?" He doesn't recall anything like that happening, but he wouldn't be surprised considering Naegi is...
"Alright, I’ll come with you."
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
"Junko. Where the hell is Komaeda?" Hajime snarls.
Now, Nagito knows he should say something to that, but… He said my name.
"Uh…" He stutters.
"Junko! Don't hurt him!" He hears his own voice say. He looks to his arm, where Junko's sprite sends a cheeky wink. He should probably figure out when she decided to record his voice later...
Unfortunately for him, Hajime only glares at him harder. "I will not fucking hesitate, you bitch! Let him go!"
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
Hajime’s taking quite a while. He doesn’t resent it, he shall wait however long he needs to, but this is a little unusual for him. If anything, Hajime’s quite punctual. He can’t even talk to Junko or Chiaki, since they seem to have closed off their connection with him.
The reporter finally shows up, a little messy. His ahoge is more limp than normal. He swiftly pulls the velvet chair to sit on. "God, sorry I'm late Komaeda." He huffs.
"Oh, it's no worries, Hinata-kun. I understand why you might not have wanted to come for trash like m-"
"No! It's not that!" He's quickly met with. The white-haired man easily smiles. So easy. The frown turns into a pout. "Oh, you're teasing me again."
"Haha, sorry. It's really fun." Hajime opens his mouth to protest. Ah, can't have that. "What happened?" He shoots out.
The other's mouth shuts closed. Olive eyes stare him down warily, and he tilts his head. The look is 100% his we're not done with this topic but I'm dropping it because you really love doing this shit, yet he really just wants to know what has Hajime so disheveled. If someone hurt him-
Hajime immediately dives into what happened within the past few hours, being tossed around by Fragment and how Fragment's his best friend while he's left with dread pooling within him.
"I love him, I do, but right now he really doesn't need these powers. The last thing he needs is another reason to feel perfect for Sonia. I’ve been trying to help him deal with rejection, but this really… really fucked with him. And shit went down."
Why would Fragment attack Hinata-kun, this wasn't meant to happen-
Hajime shuts his eyes. He rubs his temples. "I'd rather not deal with all this. Let's just eat."
He resists the urge to bite his lip. The temptation to comfort is so high, but knowing he was the cause of it...
Furrowed eyes meet his gaze, and soften. He gulps. A tanned hand reaches out, and he reaches out his own-
For his glass.
"To you, Komaeda, for being the not insane part of my life right now." Hajime grins, lifting his cup in the air.
Komaeda chuckles politely. If only you knew.
"I'm always happy to be with you, Hajime."
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
[He's hoping to get lucky one last time.]
“Providing hope… feels pretty good.”

okay speaking of the dr 3 anime, what did you think about the decision to make Chiaki a person in real life? I think it would’ve been far more impactful to have just kept her as an AI not based on a person
I sort of expected it? It happened with Chihiro and AI didn't it, so I figured there had to be some kind of 'precedent'. I dont really have feelings on it either way tbh, I think both work.

SDR2 Post-Canon AU Family Tree
After mapping it out, it's not as complicated as I thought
Some clarification:
In my Post-Game AU, they all live on Jabberwock island but leave to go on missions to fix the Tragedy
Nagito leaves the island and just randomly came back with Hideo. This is before he and Hajime gets married
Mikan runs away from Jabberwock and starts an orphanage for dying kids who are abandoned by their parents. Hajime drags her back bc she wasn't doing great. Cheri was the only orphan who recovered
Lillian and Lucifer are raised as twins, no one knows who Lucifer's father is
Ai (Teruteru's niece) is the oldest, and technically Akai (Akanidai's son) is the youngest but Akane is currently pregnant with triplets so that'll change soon
Harumi and Lillian are dating. SO are Lucifer and Hideo.

Oh boy I love getting struck with inspiration in the shower for the most evil angst ever. When I get an idea I just look like this
Tumblr media
Anyway SPOILERS FOR SDR2 BELOW
Can you imagine if the actual traitor Nagito was trying to weed out was Hajime?
Yeah Chiaki was a "traitor" in the sense that she wasn't human but she was on their side and trying to help them. She wasn't working for Monokuma or any evil organization despite what the characters thought.
I had to double check for this, but Nagito finds out that Hajime is Izuru in Chapter 4 after defeating the life threatening game. He even thinks Hajime is the traitor and states as much at the beginning of chapter 4 since Hajimes talent is still unknown. He didn't know that Chiaki was just an AI in the NWP I believe, because her student file was included in the documents (it doesn't list her death, I assume, because if it did he would've figured out the "traitor" right then and not needed to rely on his luck in chapter 5 to have her as the blackened) but Hajime was transformed into a completely different person? Hajime Hinata supposedly didn't exist/is dead now, so who was the person they were interacting with?
I think with that interpretation, Nagito could have easily interpreted that Hajime was the real traitor to the other students, but still wanted to confirm it with his luck in chapter 5. He would set up the murder plan the same, with the fated poisoned fire grenade ending up in Hajime’s hands instead. The trial goes the same, Chiaki is revealed as an AI observer and voted unanimously, but it's revealed after the vote that they got it wrong, that Hajime was the actual killer all along, and all the other students would be executed.
Can you IMAGINE the betrayal the other students would feel? The confusion and rage Chiaki would feel because that wasn't how this was supposed to go, that she was the supposed traitor Monokuma had been talking about all along? The absolute despair Hajime would feel because he doesn't know why he's being labeled as the traitor (only for it to be revealed as he goes into chapter 6 all alone)? The other students hurling accusations and insults at him for betraying them when he doesn't know why this was the outcome and starting to doubt himself all over again after being able to build his confidence with the Ultimates alongside him?
And Monokuma could easily use the wordplay to his advantage. "Oh I never specified if the traitor was working with or against me!"
Even just the realization that he gave up his entire identity to become Izuru Kamukura and essentially wipe himself from existence. All of the angst it could brew as he's going through this alone. No one is there to hype him up. No one is there for him to lean on. He's alone in the reality of his own creation that he doesn't even remember or understand.
And this would be sick as FUCK in the ghost au because Nagito's ghost would be sitting there in the courtroom just smiling at him eerily, also because of the line Monokuma says "So Nagito's ghost is whispering to you?" Or something to that effect.
Anyway new chapter for the ghost au snippets

as a summer camp stan
i will say you are 100% Allowed to not like the writing (we're not going to talk about the "game" aspect) but always keep in mind that it's the nicest AU there is.
in this world, everyone has had three peaceful years together. Syojack is a Known Entity, Chihiro comes out without issue, people think it's funny Imposter walks around as Byakuya, Hajime is besties with everyone in class 77, Usami is real, Mukuro's made tons of friends in disguise as Junko, Kamukura exists but may not be Hajime at all, etc etc.
the Kumas are a nuisance at worst! this Chiaki is a beatific combo of DR3 and AI Chiaki! the v3 kids are happily attending! Junko hangs out on the sidelines being annoying with her little robo-bear! even Shuichi lacks his hat...
in-universe, this means that some characters are going to feel Different because they've never been backed into a Tragic Corner here. literally the worst thing that's happened to any of them is the stuff already in their main timeline backstories. that is to say, Mondo's still lost Daiya, Kyoko's still lost Yui, Rantaro's looking for his sisters, but there's been no Enoshima Brand Killing Game, ever.
so of course some characters seem Worse or Better! they've never had to show the sides of them we see come out in the main timeline. Toko's still kind of a brat because whatever she went thru with Komaru was way less dangerous than UDG. Tenko's still kind of a brat because she's never had to change or woman up, and Himiko only recently warmed up to her because there's no fucking scythe in Tenko's head separating them for eternity. Kyoko's had no reason to trust anyone, and Kaede has plenty of friends to make besides Shuichi...
it's a strange place. if, knowing this, the writing still feels off to you, that's Totally Fine. we all have our opinions and interpretations! but remember that a gentle world will bring some perhaps unexpected sides of our blorbos out. it may not necessarily be OOC, just a version of them we never got to experience because Murderdeath

Is Makoto still the ultimate hope in mini thh au? Would any of the cast find out? What was their reaction?
Yes, he's still the Ultimate Hope! (For the most part, the plot of THH has still happened in this AU, so the larger premise around why everyone is in this killing game is still the same. I have a few different ideas about the exact details: the easiest explanation is that every kouhai who didn't survive the THH killing game is an AI like Chiaki, but I've thought of a few ways for it to be the real people. But that's for its own post, lol.)
I gotta say Nagito finds out first, lol. (In the version where he's with Nagito, that is. In the version where he's paired with Fuyuhiko, then Fuyuhiko finds out first and is way more normal about it.)
Here's how I'll say it shakes out:
Everyone receives their kouhais from Usami. Everyone's handbook has a list of which kouhai is assigned to which senpai and a file of basic information about their own kouhai. Like, age, Ultimate, blood type, favorite food. This is still a game about hope fragments at this point, so it's just there to give the senpais a better idea of how to take care of their kouhais and serve as a conversation starter. (No one has this kind of information about anyone else's kouhai.)
At that point, Makoto's Ultimate is just listed as Ultimate Lucky Student.
Nagito feels a basic kinship with him, on the basis of both being unimportant, and a complicated warmth that is verging on sympathy, on the basis of Makoto being someone for him to care for. (He takes every precaution he can think of to keep Makoto safe in any situation, but the back of his mind, as always, is preparing for a heartbreaking loss. Makoto is four inches tall, accident-prone, and clinging to Nagito's jacket. Anything can happen; he has to protect him from "anything".)
His feelings for Makoto shift to a more personal fondness as they continue to spend pretty much every minute of every day together. He likes to watch Makoto make friends with the other kouhais, likes hearing Makoto's voice chittering little comments in his ear as he goes about his day, likes talking to Makoto each night. He likes having a reason to take care of himself, because he has to take care of Makoto. He likes being associated with another person, instead of feeling like the odd one out. And he even likes that Makoto seems not to fully understand their place in the hierarchy. Makoto convinces him that their goal, in such a despairful killing game, shouldn't be for the Ultimates to win it on its own terms, but to reject the given terms and beat the game itself. There's a genuine bond of friendship and care between them.
The relief he always feels when he finds Makoto after he's somehow gotten tangled up in the laundry or his hoodie snags the side of a palm tree and he's just stuck there like a little caterpillar...it's an unsteadying feeling, but it's still relief. He teases Makoto, while his pulse is still slowing back down from its frantic sprint.
In short, throughout Chapter 1, he's in a place where he likes Makoto a lot. He's very vigilant about keeping him safe, and he's worried about how it would feel to lose him.
Also, and I don't think this is just Nagito: There's a kind of possessiveness one starts to feel toward a four-inch person who's assigned to be yours to protect and care for. I would say the one who feels this the least is Hajime, because Kyoko is often doing her own thing or trying to, and they kind of grow into a mutual respect more than anything, but pretty much everyone else has at least some level of "This person belongs to me" somewhere in their mind. It expresses itself in different ways, but it's there. For Nagito, it doesn't manifest too much outwardly, right away; he's just really glad to have someone who's his.
After each trial, slightly more information about each kouhai is added to their senpai's handbook.
Nagito would have learned this right after the first trial, but he gets tied up, so he can't check his handbook until after he's released.
When he does check his handbook, he sees that everything is the same except Makoto's talent is now listed as "Ultimate Lucky Student (+1)".
This causes him to see Makoto in a new light. Does he have another talent? How amazing! He already liked Makoto a lot, but now he gets really enthusiastic about his accomplishments and his potential.
Again, he learns this in mid-to-late Chapter 2, depending on the exact details of how the him-getting-untied thing plays out. Either way, he doesn't have too much time to do anything with the new information before the second trial happens and he gets some added context.
Now, there's a Fun Fact section in Makoto's file, which reads: "Makoto Naegi was brought into Hope's Peak Academy as his year's luckster after winning the annual lottery. His other talent was given to him unofficially by his classmates when he accomplished an extraordinary feat, and then shortly made official by faculty members of Hope's Peak."
So he has a bit more information in Chapter 3, and he starts trying to figure out what Makoto's talent is. The Despair Disease still happens, though, and Nagito still gets it, so Makoto goes to Hajime's care (dodged a bullet, there; if Nagito hadn't asked Hajime ahead of time to take care of Makoto if anything happened to him, Makoto would have gone to Mikan, resulting in a four-inch Ultimate Hope in Mikan's grasp if and when Remembering Disease hits) and Nagito can't look into things any more until after trial 3.
And after trial 3, Makoto's talents read, "Ultimate Lucky Student, Ultimate Hope".
Nagito just stares at the screen for a second.
Makoto, presumably somewhere on Nagito's body, breaks him out of his stupor by asking, "Ultimate Hope? What does that mean?"
Nagito quickly and gingerly takes Makoto and puts him in his little living space, and he kneels on the floor next to it (which is lined with pillows, for safety reasons) to speak to him. The fact that he's kneeling reads more like a pragmatic move than like a show of deference; he put Makoto down in his "room" and then, to continue the conversation, lowered himself so he could hear him. But he would usually do that by sitting in the cushioned seat, rather than kneeling on the floor, so his intentions were probably also to show deference.
"It means that you're even more incredible than we could have imagined," Nagito says fervently. "Oh, I should have known it; I should have seen it! I'm sorry for my ignorance. Of course, it was all so clear..."
"What do you mean?" Makoto asks warily. Nagito is getting...that way he sometimes gets, and he's getting that way about him.
"You were the one who said that the game of despair was not to be won on its own terms, but beaten by the standards of those who cherish hope!"
"That's...not exactly what I said..."
"At every step, it was you. I should have seen it." Nagito's voice has dropped to a reverent whisper. His hands are gripping the edge of the dresser.
Makoto walks closer. "Nagito, I don't want...This isn't going to affect our friendship, is it?"
"A friend to the Ultimate Hope," he marvels. "Is this the good luck to balance the killing game, or...? Ah, but I should be ashamed, talking about something as boring as luck to you now."
This is going to affect our friendship, Makoto surmises sadly. "I'm still the same person from before, right? Nothing's changed."
"Of course. That's what I meant when I said I should have seen it all along. Ah, I keep finding new ways to disappoint myself."
"Nagito...!"
Basically, for the duration of that conversation, Makoto keeps trying to bring them back to normal, but Nagito wants this to be a big deal.
None of the others know about Makoto's talent until Nagito tells them, and he doesn't tell them right away. He just starts acting different, and they don't know why.
He's the first to the dining hall, so early in the morning that he pretty much has to scoop Makoto out of bed while he's still sleeping and hold him delicately in his hands. He does his best to cook a nice breakfast for Makoto. It's his equivalent of breakfast in bed, since he can't actually leave Makoto in the cabin to go cook.
He finds linen napkins and lays one on the table for Makoto to finish sleeping on, and he just sits there, patiently waiting for Makoto to be ready to eat his food.
When the others come in and the dining room is full, some of them might exchange the new information they've learned about their kouhais, depending on what it is. Since Monokuma's in charge of the updates, a lot of it is probably really private, so maybe they speak in vague terms. The others gradually notice that Nagito is being different with Makoto. More constantly attentive, more praiseful.
Kyoko prompts Hajime to ask if Nagito has learned Makoto's second talent.
Nagito says something like, "What an amazing talent. I should have known all along."
After some pestering from the group that he chooses to be cryptic about, he lets Chiaki take his handbook and read it for herself.
"Ultimate Hope."
The group now fully understands why Nagito is being weird about Makoto. Their reactions are mostly curiosity and sympathy for Makoto's plight, but no one but Nagito feels too strongly about the title itself. Hajime does wonder if Makoto's forgotten talent has anything to do with his own forgotten talent.
And then once Nagito discovers the truth about the Remnants, he becomes EXTREMELY protective of Makoto and lowkey mad at himself for letting the others know what his talent is. Retroactively, he thinks a part of him must have known not to trust them with something so important, which is why he didn't tell them right away.

akimi and toshio ^^
(og sketch and lore under the cut :3)
Tumblr media
So in the Denki Mystery au Ai's name is Akimi Tachibana and she was an orphan and lived in Akatsuka Village when she was a kid. She was childhood friends with Toshio, but when she was 10 she moved away to Tokyo with her mother, who had not been in her life after she was born up until then. 12 years later, her mother passed away, having grown very ill over the years, and 2 years after that, Akimi had gotten an internship at the news outlet that Karatsugu works at after graduating college, where she studied art history and art restoration. One day, she overhears him talking about Akatsuka Village, and asks to join him in his investigation to see if she could maybe see Toshio again after 14 years.
Later its revealed that Akimi's mother is actually a Furutsubaki No Rei, a youkai that is a furutsubaki tree (also called the rose of the winter) that sometimes takes the form of a beautiful woman. Being away from the village was what caused her to fall ill and die, but her love for her child was what kept her alive for so long before that.
i had an idea that since Akimi is half youkai (though she doesnt know it yet), she has a sort of distaste for Ozo, since she can sort of tell that theres something off about him, that being that hes the most susceptible to the influence of the village (she always says that he's going to turn into an oni if he keeps on drinking so much sake). since she and Karatsugu are co-workers, they get along well, and she finds it the easiest to confide in him. He was the first to find out that she wanted to be a painter instead of a photographer for a newspaper. she finds Chorosuke to be a bit of a self-important asshole, but she admires his work in arranging flowers. Chorosuke finds her line of work to be invasive and unnecessary, and they often get into a bit of banter over their conflict of interest when it comes to that. Akimi and Hajime connect on their love of history, and he finds her in-depth knowledge on the subject (without being esoteric about it) to be refreshing. though, he swears he's seen her somewhere before... (that painting at the library, it's almost uncanny). Toshio hadn't been expecting Akimi to ever come back to the village, so their first meeting after 14 years was a bit awkward. they had both changed so much. they found it hard to hold a conversation, but after a while, they managed to become close once again. Takashi's cafe ends up being one of Akimi's favorite places to spend time in, and she finds it the perfect place to do research. she likes to bounce ideas and theories off of Takashi, and they sometimes manage to find new leads in the investigation (Karatsugu worries that he might be out of a job, but Takashi assures him that he's not leaving the cafe any time soon. it was his father's).
since like i havent found many translations for the event stories and sets and stuff i have just filling in a lot of the blanks with ideas that i just think are cool hehe but if anybody is super knowledgeable on denki mystery pls tell me everything!!! i need to know 0_0

welcome to ATUS, Academy of The United Souls
this is info about this one Captain Tsubasa: kid's dream AU that I have made in my head; called "傷だらけ の 愛 / Kizudarake No Ai - A love full of scars".
Where it happens is a magical school located on the foothills on mount. Fuji, being so-called "starting source of all magic on earth."
Around 1500 years ago, there were five spirits living here that created and protected life on Earth, and led it toward harmony, peace and unity: water, fire, nature, light, and...?
Yes, Darkness. after a long and power-draining battle between them, the dark spirit of the underworld decided to join the four others in spreading balance between all living beings on the planet.
But the era of Peace was short, as around 500 years later, monsters of unknown origin merged from the newly-formed caves around the mountain, causing massive destructions and terror. They crushed the plants under their feet, devoured animals and humans and dried out the waters; even the sunlight was blocked out by their enormous figures—as much as they seemed like one of the darkness spirit's creations, she hadn't done anything at all.
So, the 5 spirits decided to hide. they transferred their divinity and magic into five different gemstones, and transformed themselves into mortal humans under disguise, so the Monsters wouldn't recognize or have any value for them to kill them.
After the attack of the monsters calmed down and they disappeared Without a Trace just as how they appeared, the five "spirit-humans" who couldn't turn back to their divine selves anymore, decided to find a way of transferring magic to the Next Generations, so it could still live on even if they died. Therefore, they created a highschool, and named it "Academy of the United Souls".
Each of them formed a house, inspiring the name from the greek god of their representing element, and the emblems from their own animal companions.

thoughts on certain changes and retcons dr3 made? some notable mentions are chiaki being a real person and not an ai, hajime retaining izuru kamukuras talent and having heterochromia, brainwashing videos, kamukuras hair instantly growing several feet in the time of the project, the fact that class 77 talked to junko like,, once before becoming despair, brainwashing videos, junko and mukuro's relationship, BRAINWASHING VIDEOS-
sorry for the long rant i am mad at dr3.
it was a really cool anime, and all of these things worked in a.......self-contained way. i mostly have strong thoughts about chiaki being a person, because i love the anime's explanation for why she ended up becoming an ai..manifesting because of the entire class longing for her, it's so damn sweet. buuut it comes at the cost of chihiro having been the one to create her. so. by default i go with chihiro options. it's how i'm wired.
the brainwashing stuff is okaayyy but i'd rather it be on top of junko actually sinking her teeth into the entire class on an individual level. like. an episode a character. and an ova for each character too, cowards
hhrmm for bus au purposes basically the only things you've listed here that i want to keep are hajime having all izuru's talents, maybe the heterochromia, and some type of brainwashing should be involved because 1. angst and 2. ryota

If someone in class 78 went through Izuru Kamukura project…
Sort of inspired by @theamityelf multiple Kamukura AU, and just ideas of a general class swap AU, I was wondering who, if anyone from class 78 would go through such a thing. Who is the most desperate for self-improvement. Then it hit me.
Chihiro Fujisaki, our fav insecure programmer.
Tumblr media
Picture it: Chihiro wants to be stronger, braver, both for him self esteem and to better fit into what he thinks society wants him to be. He is then presented with an… “edited” explanation of the Kamukura project.
Chihiro’s mind and body will be improved upon. He will learn things, his body will be stronger to handle the skills of a mixed martial artist. Maybe they offer to make him taller as well just to sweeten the deal.
While Chihiro does have supportive classmates, maybe he hasn’t told them his true gender identity, or maybe he has but is frustrated with the lack of results of the hard work he is doing.
Chihiro says yes, and then is slowly picked apart until all that is left is his programming skill. And then a bunch of other skills are added.
Maybe class 78 falls into despair about what Hope’s Peak manipulated Chihiro into doing to himself. And the fact that society at large pushed Chihiro into this mindset.
What would this ‘Chizuru’ person be like, compared to the Hajime version? Firstly, still apathetic like canon. But maybe they still have the mindset of analysing a person’s imperfections, but instead of being internalised/self-directed, Chizuru instead looks down on everyone else. The shape of their bodies, their behaviour, all contrasting to the amazing things Chizuru can do. It doesn’t help that the scientists are constantly talking up how amazing the project result is.
Keeping that in mind, maybe why Chizuru decides to take part in the tragedy is to get rid of the most weak of society and make the strong prevail, while also giving the chance for people to become strong through this process.
Bonus: If he has created an “Alter Ego” before this transformation imagine Chizuru finding the AI and deciding to use it to find out more about who this body once belonged to as a natural curiosity. And Alter Ego is desperately trying to keep their master from being too much of a monster.

im sorry im on a roll today with these aus but-
ai kazuichi au 👀 (i mentioned this au before in my soudam week entries)
ai kazuichi exists inside of the digital world as an observer, like chiaki, and is programmed to look after his classmates and to act like the real life ultimate mechanic in the real world
once Gundham and the other students are inside of the Neo World Program, gundham's starting to crush on the mechanic as days on the island pass by :0
tbh whether or not this takes place during the killing game (angst potential!) or island mode (fluff potential! + everything goes somewhat smoothly for them!) is up to you bc i love your creativity! :D
Look.
LOOK
This can go many ways, but I’m gonna go angst and make the world burn by having the reason there’s both AI’s is because both Chiaki and Kazuichi died and that actually sends the class to Despair. Or at least….they thought both died.
Tumblr media
He was actually just on the cusp of death when Izuru went to their “game of death” and Izuru felt a deep, instinctive desire to help. Maybe Hajime wasn’t completely lost from the Hope Project, but the young mechanic has been in a coma off and on for two years. He’s horribly disfigured and his body aches so bad he can’t work on large machines ever again and he has about 2/3 of his remaining lung capacity so he’s winded a bit more easily. Not to mention his left armor lack of. But he gets a cool replacement like Nagito so it’s all good!
AI Kazuichi and AI Chiaki was crafted partially by Kazuichi it was mainly created by Izuru because I like to think the smidge of Hajime within Izuru at the time made the AI so he could fulfill his dream of being a classmate with his best friend slash femme crush. Kazuichi sadly can’t do much and the Future Foundation keep him close because him being on the island is dangerous in his condition. He made the AI version of himself to be less of a hot mess and to be more open to Gundham who he has realized he wanted to be really be good friends with.
Meanwhile in the NWP, Gundham finds AI Kazuichi more warm and receptive to him and the two get closer. Like they actually get along and interact more, which subconsciously makes the breeder happy because somewhere in his mind he remembers they were “rivals” for Sonia. And now they’re almost besties with Sonia and are actually enjoying their time together.
And maybe real Kaz is living vicariously through the AI as the two grow closer and they start to dance around the idea of being in love. It effects him a lot, because he wonders what could have been if he didn’t let his insecurities get in the way and if Junko hadn’t fucked them all over.
When the killing game starts, Kazuichi demands to be there in person in case something happens when he reality he wants to try to prevent Junko’s plan while also being their personally to mourn Gundham in case they fail. He realizes too late he was in love with the breeder all along and now it feels like it’s too late to do more than mourn for his conscience and soul.
When the game ends, he has to explain to Hajime, Akan’s, Fuyuhiko and Sonia what actually happened to him and Chiaki and how he wished it was Chiaki who lived instead of him. The five work hard to get the others free, with Kazuichi forcefully taken somewhere else to rest and not risk his health but it makes him spiral into depression. When Gundham wakes up, I like to think he seeks him out and what happens happens.

Hey. So, I saw your Chiaki & Fuyuhiko comic that I like to call "Look on the Bright Side" (since it didn't have an official name in the post itself), and I loved it. I loved seeing Nanami & Kuzuryu interact with each other with the former comforting the latter on Peko and complimenting on how brave he was to save his friend, the scene between Fuyuhiko & Peko during the latter's execution, and then the scene of you making a throwback to your DR3 rewrite from your Talky Talky Tuesday content where the DR2 cast witness Human Chiaki's death and chose not to help her because of how awful Junko's influence on them was. It was heartwarming, bittersweet, and terrifying all at the same time, and as @/self-in-dulled-gent put it in their reblog of the comic, the 4th & 5th panels depicting your DR3 rewrite is a cool and visceral indication of how far the DR2 cast had fallen into despair. Heck, both the comic & the rewrite even serve as inspiration towards my au/rewrite/reimagine of DR3's Despair Arc & how Junko corrupts the DR2 cast into despair. So, thank you so much for the inspiration. I really appreciate it.
With all that in mind, I have some questions I wanna ask you regarding both the comic & DR3 rewrite, if you don't mind.
May I have your permission to do a review on your DR3 Rewrite post for my Advian Reads & Reviews content (which in case you're curious about, AR&R is reading review series where I read something, like fanfiction for example, while also doing a review on it at the same time, giving my thoughts on whatever I'm reviewing as well as potentially even sharing my own stories)?
Will you ever showcase the bonus panel of the rest of the class witnessing Chiaki's death that you mentioned in the comic's tags?
Who is the 5th person on the right between Kazuichi & Hiyoko in the 4th panel (I'm assuming it's Sonia based on the hairstyle, but I thought I'd ask for some confirmation)?
Will we ever get to see the dialogue of Chiaki not resenting Hajime/Izuru for not helping her you also mentioned in the comic's tags?
Follow up on that previous question, do you think it's possible that we might also get to see if Chiaki resents her classmates for not helping her, or if she would also get it with them like she did with Hajime/Izuru?
How exactly does Junko kill Chiaki in front of her classmates? Does she still have her go through her execution like in canon, or does she kill her in a different way, and if so, then how? I ask because I saw Nanami had blood coming from her eyes & mouth (making it look like Junko literally pulled her eyes out), there's blood on her hoodie & left thigh, and she appears to have been stabbed on her right side.
And those are my questions. In regards to gaining your permission to review your DR3 rewrite, if you do grant permission, great! I'll be sure to credit you and give you a shoutout too if you do. And if you don't, then I'm content with that and will understand and respect the reason behind your refusal, whatever that reason may be. Feel free to respond back to me whenever you get the chance. Thank you and have a wonderful day/afternoon/night. 🤗💕❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💖💕🤗
Tumblr media
that's one heck of an ask so I'm using a readmore:
Thank you! I remember that comment hehe I'm really glad people like it
1: sure! Just know that I'm like, you know, just a fan and a hobbyist and not even really a writer so I'm not saying my rewrite is more right than anything else!
2: the bonus panel was actually everyone else's deaths (in SDR2) since they all sort of died alone, too. But it didn't feel relevant enough, I prrrrrrrrobably don't have the sketch anymore
3: yep that's Sonia
4: I'll be totally real i don't remember what I was thinking there at all. Sssssorryyyyyy
5: I think Chiaki, if she got to see the events of SDR2 as the AI, wouldn't resent her classmates so much as feel sorry for them and be disappointed. At the same time though I think she might be shocked at what they're capable of. Maybe she can't help but be a bit bitter, who knows. Hajime/Izuru is a different deal since that guy literally got his brains scrambled, can't really blame him. (sort of like deleting all the save data, maybe?)
6: the blood and amounts of it was more about the drama lol. But I thought the obstacle was like, a little too fantastical, not serious enough, so in my rewrite she straight up beats Chiaki to death with some kind of instrument. I think the image of Junko doing something so realistic (and slow) while everyone watches passively is even worse.
Thanks for asking beforehand! 💙

The feel when you are currently obsessed with an AU version of your favorite character BUT YOU NEED TO MAKE AN ENTIRE MUSIC VIDEO SO PPL CAN SEE YOUR VISION
Anyways - Mastermind Peko AU where Fuyuhiko hesitates when he confronts Sato so she kills him instead.
Peko goes insane and is the major player of the tragedy.
Fuyuhiko in SDR2 is an AI like Chiaki, made to pacify Peko.
She dies the same in Trial 2, but Junko takes over her body immediately. Chapter 5, Peko comes back as Junko.
During the trial it’s clear that Peko didn’t get completely overwritten by Junko but she refuse to come back to a world without Fuyuhiko.
Hajime defeats Junko with the power of friendship and all the survivors moves on.
Defeated, Peko resigns herself to die with the game, but Fuyuhiko gently pushes her towards Hajime. Time to move on.

Chiaki to me is kind of an odd character in that I think she actually has good potential, especially in possible interactions with Nagito (seriously, Komanami is probably the ONLY really great Chiaki ship in my eyes). I've seen some great fanfics that play around with her. Especially ones that explore a Despair!Chiaki. But canon just...doesn't really do a great job with her.
In fact I actually find her role kind of detrimental, in that it almost vindicates elements of Nagito's worldview. With her being an angelic embodiment of hope. Which is just...not a very healthy way to present a character in my eyes.
To go back to that stuff about Despair!Chiaki, a really neat interaction that a writer friend is considering implementing into an AU is her and Nagito talking after being rehabilitated. And her admitting that the embodiment of hope he was desperate for was something she could never be. Chiaki says something like "I guess...I'm sorry I could only ever be a girl, Nagito.". To which he responds "...And I'm sorry that wasn't enough for me."
hmm, If I'm very honest I don't ship any mlw ships with Nagito lol! It's mostly because I think the idea of Junko finding a gay man who's lonely, terminally ill, traumatized, and desperate for someone to love him, then exploiting and warping his affection, one of the only things that remains healthy about him, warping it to where he can't understand his own sexuality anymore is pretty brutal. Nagito loving despair is something he can accept, but loving Junko is so fundamentally mind boggling that he goes spiraling when he thinks about it. The idea of Junko convincing a gay man he loves her and robbing an important part of himself from him is super interesting. Also just him never really showing any interest in a woman but showing interest in hajime and Izuru gives that impression. But don't let me discourage you that's just my opinion! His sexuality is not confirmed in any way and that is my interpretation. Just wanted to touch upon that to give insight on what I think just in case it makes me sound too biased at any point in this discussion.
I think making Chiaki real and using her again plot wise to use the same strong suit of her character, empathy, can be seen as a little clumsy. Although I do thoroughly enjoy the fact that Hajime heard her advice but only truly understood it in Danganronpa 2 after she was gone. It's really tragic and I enjoy that Ai Chiaki and Real life Chiaki are indeed different. It's a little indecent but I enjoy the story of the franchise overall.
If I'm honest I think a lot of things about hope's peak in general are detrimental to Nagito because his world view is specifically influenced by Hope's peak. Nagito believes Chiaki is an "embodiment of hope" for the class and likes her status and impact on everyone. Junko sees her the same way and wants to crush that so called hope to create despair for the class! I think that all makes sense and is decently done considering the characters and world. It's important to remember hope is practically absolute good, and Chiaki was just an absolutely good person to the class and when that's lost it creates despair. Even those who she wasn't really That close with, like Nagito, respected her and her impact a lot! Enough to be devastated and have the brainwashing work more.
Chiaki serves a purpose and I think criticism with the fact that she mostly is there to be the support role and impact for everyone else is absolutely valid. My only personal criticism is I'd like to have seen the different ways the class cared for Chiaki, basically just how close each person individually was with her. I'd like to have seen more of their hangouts to know that, but I understand it's an anime recapping a story with limited time. They spend episodes expressing how much they all cared but not how personally close they were, so the fact all of them cared so much isn't entirely sold for a lot of people including me at first. You kind of have to infer a lot which is a little sad? It's for a lack of words a missed opportunity I think.
Fanfics do a really good job at showing those things the anime misses about real life Chiaki, and honestly overall I'd say Chiaki is most often well characterized in fanfics! I think a despair Chiaki is an interesting idea too like you said, you'd have to explain how they became despairs without her though. But fanfics are all about being creative and it's an au in the first place so I'm sure people can figure it out and have fun! All of it is interesting fun ideas and I'm glad you and your writer friend are having fun and enjoy the ship.
I do think the dialogue they've come up with is pretty interesting and a cool approach to an au like that. "...And I'm sorry that wasn't enough for me," feels a little odd for him to say to me at least? I mean, I definitely don't know the direction or the entirety of the work that led to that interaction though of course, and I think it's definitely interesting dialogue, but for Nagito to say that feels a little off for me personally. Like, I think after rehabilitation supposedly it would go something like the Dangan Islands where he learns Hope was inside him all along through spending time with Hajime.
"You provoked the hope that was already inside all of our hearts Chiaki, and for that I am grateful. We all fell to despair, but the hope always wins, Right?" or something like that feels better to me personally but I'm just being silly and don't know the full context anyway
Thank you for your ask, please let me know if I misinterpreted anything you said and didn't respond accordingly, It was nice reading somebody else's take on things and trying to respond with mine as respectfully as I could <3
