examining a seemingly normal image only to slowly realize the clear signs of AI generated art.... i know what you are... you cannot hide your true nature from me... go back where you came from... out of my sight with haste, wretched and vile husk
#BEGONE!!! *wizard beam blast leaving a black smoking crater in the middle of the tumblr dashboard*#I think another downside to everyone doing everything on phone apps on shitty tiny screens nowadays is the inability to really see details#of an image and thus its easier to share BLATANTLY fake things like.. even 'good' ai art has pretty obvious tells at this point#but especially MOST of it is not even 'good' and will have details that are clearly off or lines that dont make sense/uneven (like the imag#of a house interior and in the corner there's a cabinet and it has handles as if it has doors that open but there#are no actual doors visible. or both handles are slightly different shapes. So much stuff that looks 'normal' at first glance#but then you can clearly tell it's just added details with no intention or thought behind it. a pattern that starts and then just abruptly#doesn't go anywhere. etc. etc. )#the same thing with how YEARS ago when I followed more fashion type blogs on tumblr and 'colored hair' was a cool ''''New Thing''' instead#of being the norm now basically. and people would share photos of like ombre hair designs and stuff that were CLEARLY photoshop like#you could LITERally see the coloring outside of the lines. blurs of color that extend past the hair line to the rest of the image#or etc. But people would just share them regardless and comment like 'omg i wish I could do this to my hair!' or 'hair goallzzzz!! i#wonder what salon they went to !!' which would make me want to scream and correct them everytime ( i did not lol)#hhhhhhggh... literally view the image on anything close to a full sized screen and You Will SEe#I don't know why it's such a pet peeve of mine. I think just as always I'm obsessed with the reality and truth of things. most of the thing#that annoy me most about people are situations in which people are misinterpreting/misunderstanding how something works or having a misconc#eption about somehting thats easily provable as false or etc. etc. Even if it's harmless for some random woman on facebook to believe that#this AI generated image of a cat shaped coffee machine is actually a real product she could buy somewhere ... I still urgently#wish I could be like 'IT IS ALL AN ILLUSION. YOU SEE???? ITS NOT REALL!!!!! AAAAA' hjhjnj#Like those AI shoes that went around for a while with 1000000s of comments like 'omg LOVE these where can i get them!?' and it's like YOU#CANT!!! YOU CANT GET THEM!!! THEY DONT EXIST!!! THE EYELETS DONT EVEN LINE UP THE SHOES DONT EVEN#MATCH THE PATTERNS ARE GIBBERISH!! HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE THEY ARE NOT REAL!??!!' *sobbing in the rain like in some drama movie*#Sorry I'm a pedantic hater who loves truth and accuracy of interpretation and collecting information lol#I think moreso the lacking of context? Like for example I find the enneagram interesting but I nearly ALWAYS preface any talking about it#with ''and I know this is not scientifically accurate it's just an interesting system humans invented to classify ourselve and our traits#and I find it sociologically fascinating the same way I find religion fascinating'. If someone presented personality typing information wit#out that sort of context or was purporting that enneagram types are like 100% solid scientific truth and people should be classified by the#unquestionaingly in daily life or something then.. yeah fuck that. If these images had like disclaimers BIG in the image description somewh#re like 'this is not a real thing it's just an AI generated image I made up' then fine. I still largely disagree with the ethics behind AI#art but at least it's informed. It's the fact that people just post images w/o context or beleive a falsehood about it.. then its aAAAAAA

There's a post i saw going around like "oh yeah ai can help give fic writers and fan artists ideas." it's called being creative and having ideas and thinking for your damn self. I am not linking that post because I don't want to harass the OP but jesusfucking christ on a bike. Without even touching the idea of it being plagiarism, which it is , openAI is being sued by the new york times for generating copyrighted articles literally word for word at times—
I will take a million insane ideas cooked up by earnest people enjoying themselves over any SEO generated piece of slop short cut to the end. "oh it'll give me titles or ideas!" Engage with poems or songs. Be true to your own experiences. Yeah some of those things might be cringey but it's fucking art. I don't want to know what a machine scrapped off the internet, I want to know the person on the other side of the screen. We do not hide our hearts in these things.
Never mind the biases implicit in things like generating lists of items that include fucking names or experiences. AI is always going to experience bias, and enhance them. That is what the machine does, it detects patterns and recreates them.
I don't want to see what a machine thinks about mourning or loss or war. That will never be as interesting or engaging or true to yourself as just coming up with an idea and baring yourself for your fellow fans to see.
Then there's the fucking horror of asking it to tell you factual information. Generative AI cannot reliably do that and you should not believe it can do that. AI Hallucinates, it doesn't know what a fact is, it knows what facts look like and recreates them. This is a very well known problem. Do not ask it questions to get real and reliable information, it may produce that incidentally but you are opening yourself up to a huge fucking problem which is "I am very likely actively contributing to misinformation."
and how'd the ai know about those things in the first place. tell me. how did the machine find out about things like tropes in star wars fan fiction. Tell Me. Tell me 100% with a straight face that the machine happened to know those things completely ethically and not without scraping the hard work of other people.
The post in question ends with a "Oh AI may steal work from artists and authors," And no, that's not actually my core issue with it and it never will be, labor is stolen under capitalism all the time and there are already ways of cutting out artists and authors from their labor without computer generated slop. That's the world of business and I have my issues there. My issue with it in fan spaces is that I don't read or write fan fiction or look at or make art to engage with machines. I do it to engage with you, the person reading this. To say I'm not alone and neither are you, I am here and I see you.
To offload that effort, those emotions to machines? What a way of saying that you don't care about this, and if you don't care, why should anyone else care about it either?

jaf characters as drawn by me vs ai generated with artflow vs ai generated by artbreeder
the obvious drawback for comparison here is that i usually draw them more stylized than realistic and while i do have realistic busts for Most of them somewhere its mostly uncolored pencil drawings from high school so i went with the more recent headshots for uniformness
so which ai did a better job for each character!
gee v: im gonna say artflow since the colors are better and she looks Softer but neither rly look much like gee since ai art is allergic to young fat ppl
amarante v: artbreeder 100%. aside from the hairstyling artbreeder’s face here is actually pretty accurate. but also the artflow one is so incredibly off its barely a competition
vin v: artbreeder as well. the face is like spot on to how i imagine them looking. its like a casting photo to me. artflow has the Color down better but im owed $300 for them yassifying my blorbo
dax g: artbreeder but both are pretty off. artflow jst could not make a latino man without making him Aged. dax is twenty. artbreeder’s at least looks like a person but they dont rly read as dax to me much
lane l: artbreeder ig but these both suck. again ai art is allergic to fat ppl. at least artbreeder’s looks Chubby but he does not look like lane
ruth l: artflow. artbreeder at least Approached the fact that ruth is fat but artflow did give her her proper butch punk slay
randy b: artbreeder’s is probably more accurate but points to artflow for the slay again. both are slightly off in opposite ways bfkgn
zoey c: artbreeder 100%. i hate how badly artflow struggles w poc. artbreeder’s looks Close but i could not get her dreads to appear. her face is p close but i imagine her nose would be wider and her lips a little fuller
all in all both ais are incredibly frustrating to use bc of their unpredictability and especially as someone who can do realism at least somewhat. artflow’s is a very vague behind-the-curtain process, and artbreeder’s sliders are so impenetrable. what the fuck is -100% hat. the clothes sliders dont even add glasses or hats or makeup and the only sliders for features are gender, age, and race which is so unuseful like. why not jst have sliders for features on their own (skin color, nose width, jaw width, wrinkles, hair length, etc) that can be much more useful than jst an ai’s approximation of fucking racial sliders. like the problems here are fairly obvious from an ethical standpoint but also from a usability standpoint. either or.

Listen. . .he has been known to make--or have a generative AI make--a few edits of people in exchange for a little cash here and there.
And some of them might be saucy! He has to do a little more post production on those, so they're pretty high quality. Still obviously edits if you look close! But they're high quality.
And some of them might be of people he's met! Maybe even people he's openly expressed attraction to!
But those were sold in secrecy and under the condition that they not be made public.
And he's not the only one doing this. There's a whole subHive dedicated to edits like this. He doesn't even post there! Anymore!!
Just because maybe there are Jin Kamurai thirst trap edits out in the wild doesn't mean they're his creations. He has lots of other things to do and lots of more lucrative AI images and edits to make. Do you know how much gross old men pay for what they think is a real, horny woman sending them DMs? A lot! He doesn't even have to edit those, they don't look close enough for it to be worth the extra time!
So that? Probably not his doing. Probably.

Transforming cybersecurity with AI
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/transforming-cybersecurity-with-ai/
Transforming cybersecurity with AI
Tumblr media
This article is based on Lee Klarich’s brilliant talk at the AI Accelerator Summit in San Jose. As an AIAI member, you can enjoy the complete recording here. For more exclusive content, head to your membership dashboard.
Hey there! My name’s Lee Klarich. I’m the Chief Product Officer for Palo Alto Networks, a role I’ve had in various forms for almost 20 years – since the company started.
In that time, I’ve seen new technologies emerge that require security and enablement. However, I don’t think I’ve seen anything adopted as abruptly as generative AI over the last 12 months. It’s incredible.
Think about the amazing things that are being worked on – exciting new creative concepts, advancements in healthcare, and much more. Just last week, I was on a panel with someone from the Mayo Clinic discussing how AI will change medicine, transform how doctors will work, and even revolutionize prosthetics.
We’ve got all sorts of cool stuff emerging, and I’m hoping you’re creating “good AI bees” that positively pollinate rather than killer bees! But alas, I work in cybersecurity. So, the AI developments I pay attention to are how attackers exploit generative AI to make our lives more difficult.
So, in this article, I’ll discuss the rise of adversarial AI, how we’re using AI to counter this challenge, and how we hope to enable you to do amazing things responsibly.
AI is expanding the horizons of what’s possible – for cyber threats
Let’s look at some examples of how adversaries use AI.
Remember the SolarWinds attack of 2020? In case you don’t, let me remind you. The Russian state-sponsored group ATP29 compromised SolarWinds’ source code for their IT monitoring app. So, when SolarWinds sent updates, their customers were compromised. The attackers systematically worked through US government orgs, system integrators, and cybersecurity companies – around 100 high-value targets.
The interesting part is that ATP29 could have targeted around 3,000 companies, but they were limited by human resources to only 100 serial attacks before being caught. Imagine if, instead of relying on people, they had used AI to automatically execute 3,000 parallel attacks. That’s scary.
At Palo Alto, we’re thinking hard about this. Attacks are speeding up – our experiments show ransomware attackers could use automation to carry out attacks four to five times faster than they do today.
Attackers are already getting faster, thanks to automation tools – and we’re getting faster at blocking them. Just this morning, my team’s researchers showed me how quickly we can use AI to anticipate what adversaries will do next. We do this proactively to retrain our security capabilities.
Despite everything that’s going on, I’m one of the rare optimists in the cybersecurity space. Most people dwell on the horrible threats, but I think AI provides more opportunity than risk – if we take advantage of it in the right way.
Better security with AI
Let me share a couple of examples of how we’ve used AI, which might spark ideas for how you could use it too.
Reactive cybersecurity
For many years, whenever anyone in the cybersecurity industry uncovered a new attack, we’d generate a signature to detect and block it. This worked for known attacks but not zero-day or unseen attacks, since you can’t have a signature for the unknown. There was always a “patient zero” in this model of attack prevention.
The cycle was to detect attacks, create signatures, and push signatures out. We got faster and faster at doing this – from weeks with floppy disks in the 90s, down to minutes. But we were still using this detect-update-respond model.
The problem is that AI makes it possible for nearly every attack to be a zero-day attack. So how do we deal with zero-day attacks enabled by AI?

I saw a picture today;
It was a beautiful portrait
Of a character,
From a book series that I love.
I admired the visuals for a moment,
Appreciating the expression and the composition.
And then I found myself looking closely at the hands, the finger nails, the folds of cloth.
I had seen this character before,
In a different pose and a different style,
But where the details didn't quite make sense.
And now I find myself second guessing every picture,
Wondering if this one is okay to appreciate -
Or if it was generated from the theft of other works.
I can no longer just look at a piece of art and share it;
Instead I have to criticise each one,
Verify its man-made authenticity
And determine if its fair to pass this one along.
I mourn the days when I could be astounded,
by each picture in front of me.
I mourn the fact that I must turn each piece to scrutiny.
And never are the fakes advertised as such.
Each one coming with a link to buy prints of what a computer made in moments,
Determined to make money off of it,
Without the labour needed to make it themselves.
And I wonder how many people look at that work and buy their prints, unknowingly.
And I wonder how many other prints from human hands,
Could have been bought in their stead.
I weep for the days where art was art.
Where art was a process.
Where art was something made for joy.
Where art was made to share a love of beauty.
And not a commodity .
And not a product.
And not lie.
And not a profit making tool.
I will investigate the fingers, and the clothing folds and the shading,
And I will share those that pass Inspection.
As I do, I wonder how much time it takes for me to look,
And how many other pieces I could have seen,
and shared in that time,
Were I not putting each one under a microscope.

⨳ ʾ apps/sites 4 shifting . ♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hi! this will be long but i made a list of apps/sites that might be helpful for your shifting journey. reminder that you don't need these to shift but they can be helpful with manifesting, keeping track of stuff, etc.
enjoy! divider cr
NOT SPONSORED BTW LMAO
Tumblr media
﹒ ⊹ 🝮 OO1: NOTION ✩
description:
basically notion is an app for documents and stuff. i have to say this one's relatively known and it's such a huge life saver and i know that probably everyone knows about it already (as they should) but i'm gonna recommend it once again.
useful for:
scripting
dashboards you can add life goals & stuff here you can look up some templates/ideas and see what i mean LOL
cons:
i personally can not think of any major ones because this app is just that good
you do have to make new accounts for the text ai generating feature but i don't know if anyone would use that
additional notes:
i personally love how customizable it is! like you can make each page have a custom icon & header, add widgets, images, and so much more. it is so so so insanely helpful for scripting i'm telling you. or you can just be basic, that works too. there's also a bunch of script templates online including specific ones (like a better cr, fame dr, fantasy dr, fandom-specific drs, bla bla bla) and it's literally the only thing shifttok is good for imo. i'm a big fan of shifterium's templates but there's other people who make them as well and i'm sure you can find some recommendations!
Tumblr media
★ ₊ ➲ OO2: CANVA
description:
a website + app where you can design stuff from headers down to presentations, posters, covers, etc..
useful for:
album covers for singer/idol drs
book covers for writer drs or something
fake social media posts but there's better apps out there and i'll list them here as well
and much more!
cons:
a lot of things (most of which i think are the good stuff) are paid but you can find similar replicas if you scroll long enough i guess..?? and there's a free trial but i don't know if that helps
additional notes:
definitely my favorite place to go when i need to design something tbh. there's a bunch of templates you can use and the layout is very easy to navigate through! and it's pretty easy to find free alternatives for the paid stuff you do have in there
Tumblr media
₍ⁿ⑅..ⁿ₎ ˇ ⩩ OO3: PARROT ❀
description:
parrot is an app where you can record yourself saying literally anything and play it on a continuous loop
useful for:
affirmations (manifesting??)
cons:
i'm pretty sure it's iOS only
additional notes:
personally i haven't used this app (i don't like my voice so i will not be recording myself saying affirmations thank yew) so i can't give it a rating but from the looks of it and based off of recommendations i've seen it's pretty useful. should be a white icon with a pink circle that has a white parrot in it!
Tumblr media
≥≤ ﹕ ⤷ OO4: BEHINDTHENAME ◍
description:
a site where you can generate names & even life stories if you choose it (including height, weight, blood type, birthday, nationality and more i think?? at least it gives those for me). you can choose from different cultures and stuff like fantasy & mythology.
useful for:
finding a name & info for your dr self (which is literally you by the way don't forget that!) and potentially other people you'd like to script in
cons:
it really just helps to make a basic profile of a person so the things you can do with it can be a little limited
additional notes:
i prefer using this site for ocs instead but i think it can definitely help with shifting! oddly enough it also shows like a lifespan & cause of death so.. cool i guess!!!!
Tumblr media
✦ ﹕ OO5: SOCIAL MAKER/dummy
description:
social maker & social dummy are both apps where you can replicate almost basically anything from the internet from twitter posts to facebook posts, youtube posts, and more!
useful for:
social media stuff especially useful for fame drs, streamer drs, idol/singer drs and so much more
cons:
both apps were deleted so you have to have had installed them before if you want to get them back
social maker is ios only i think?
additional notes:
yeah both apps are deleted but there's alternatives out there like twinote (for twitter) photonote (for instagram) canva (has fake social media templates as i said lol) and others that you can look for (because i personally only use twinote)
Tumblr media
⋆ ᶻᶻ OO6: HELLOFACE ﹒ ★
description:
basically an app for ai face swapping
useful for:
seeing what your face claim (if you have one) would look like on for example dances, fancams, interviews definitely useful for idol/singer/maybe fame drs
cons:
uses ai (i'm personally not a big fan of ai)
pretty underground so the chances that you might not like it are not low
Tumblr media
✭ ❒︎ OO7: ROOM PLANNER . ♡
description:
basically what the name says. it's a 3d home designer
useful for:
making your dr room/house
visualizing your dr room/house
cons:
has paid stuff
Tumblr media
┊ ‧ ⬭ OO8: COMBYNE
description:
an app where you can combine items you like from a wide selection of stuff to make outfits!
useful for:
making outfits for your dr
visualizing said outfits
additional notes:
there's other things you can do on the app like challenges where you can compete to make the best outfit i think?? looks pretty fun i might try it HAHAHA
Tumblr media
yuh so i got a little lazy here at the end & i know this is prolly not very helpful because most of these apps/sites are pretty well known but maybe just maybe.. i helped someone out...
HAPPY SHIFTING!!!!!

According to South Korea’s education ministry, the tablets will be customisable so that “fast learners” and “slow learners” can be assessed by the software and given different AI-generated tasks with varying levels of complexity.
But the government has provided few details on exactly how the digital textbooks — and other AI-powered education tools being developed by Korean tech firms including LG and Samsung — will work or how the system would be prevented from AI’s tendency to “hallucinate” or produce errors.
The AI apps will be introduced for all subjects except for music, art, physical education and ethics by 2028, with teachers monitoring activity through a digital dashboard. Pupils will be given classes in digital literacy to help them to deploy AI tools responsibly.
“AI textbooks will enable teachers to evaluate each student’s study level and pace based on their data, and provide a tailored education for each one of them,” one government official said.
“Many students tend to fall asleep in class as some of them already learned the content in private cram schools and others just fail to follow the lessons,” the official added. “[Soon] they will be able to think outside the box as AI textbooks provide various content for any situation and induce their interest in study and help them think creatively.”
if this sounds fantastically fucking stupid and like the south korean govt is planning on selling out its students educations for vague hyperbolic techno-hype, dont worry, this policy is not without significant domestic pushback: there are several korean parents who regard "screens" as tantamount to vortices of youth mind control and extend this reflexive technophobia to any educational aids involving computers

i hate ai as much as the next guy but the fearmongering about tumblr adding an opt-out-of-ai-scraping setting is ridiculous imo. like no they didn't start selling all your posts to ai companies without announcing it. the entire internet is being scraped by ai shit daily. this isn't some tumblr exec handing over a bag full of art people have posted on here to an ai firm, it's programs that scan the entire internet (the same way the internet archive does to save things on the wayback machine, if i understand it correctly), and basically every single social media site is partnering with ai companies rn to try to stay ahead of the game / retain some control over their data. opting out means reblogs of your work also won't be used in ai data sets.
like. don't get me wrong. i don't like that having my artwork online guarantees it'll be scraped by ai programs either. but there's really not that much that can be done against that at this point. i think tumblr discouraging general ai scraping on its site + letting users opt out of their stuff being shared with the ai companies they partner with is like. probably the best case scenario of all this stuff. still not GOOD but probably not as much of a catastrophe as my entire dashboard seems to think it is
but maybe telling people not to jump hastily to conclusions and get mad about it is too much to ask for on the "jump hastily to conclusions and get mad about it" website
* btw adding the caveat here that i 100% fully believe the ai craze is doomed to fail and will crash and burn just like nfts did so that colors a lot of my thoughts on the matter. i also do fully believe everyone should be backing up their content onto their own sites that they have control over regardless of any of this
