genre fluff, pairing host!childe | tartaglia x reader
notes fem reader (use of the terms ‘princess’ and ‘my lady’). wrote this because i am currently rewatching ouran. childe as tamaki thoughts hmm... also happy birthday to MY man i love you childe 🩷💙
“my princess! i’ve been waiting for you,” childe exclaims, pulling out a chair from the two-person table. “please have a seat.” you give him a small smile, a show of gratitude as you take your seat. he takes the seat right in front of you.
you feel one of his hands being placed over your hand that’s on the table. with his free hand, he pulls out a rose from who knows where and offers it to you. “for you, my lady.” you gladly accept the rose, muttering a small “thank you”.
he excuses himself as gets up from the table, quickly returning with a plate of your favorite dessert. “would you like some? i’ll even feed it to you, if you’d like.” he offers. it’s hard to resist when tartaglia talks to you with such charm, and so you nod. he cuts off a piece of the dessert and brings it to your mouth, which you open, allowing you to take a bite.
childe leans slightly closer, his other arm extending towards your face. his thumb wipes something from the side of your lip, and he retracts his arm to wipe the mess off his thumb. “my apologies for the sudden contact, princess. you had a little something on your face.”

disclaimer: no it is not my birthday today. i just wanted to try writing again
Tumblr media
11:54 PM.
“it feels weird that i’m turning a year older.”
childe lets out a breathy chuckle through the phone—it was soft and light, one that you would never get tired of. “only a few minutes left, are you excited?” you asked yourself the same question for a moment. “i guess so? but this doesn’t make it any different from the other times i waited for the clock to strike midnight.”
“what time were you born?” he then asks. “huh? what’s that got to do with anything?” you ask him back. “did you know that you’re not officially twenty until the clock hits the time you were born?” he could feel your deadpan expression at him, even if he couldn’t see your face during the call at the moment.
“that’s bullshit, ajax.”
“it isn’t, i swear!”
“don’t give me that crap; only you would believe such a saying!”
ajax then laughs at your reaction. you were right though; it’s not really true. nor does that really matter; it just depends on what one would like to believe in. but childe believes in what he said. “but seriously, what time were you born?” you pondered a moment, trying to recall the timestamp that was written in your album back then when you were just an infant. “i think it was around four in the morning? a quarter after four.”
12:00 AM.
when the clock strikes twelve, childe still sang happy birthday to you, only for it to be followed by “well, you aren’t really twenty just yet,” which earned him a threat from you to end the call if he continues it any further.
as the night continues, it was just the same routine that you and ajax have when you call each other during the night. you guys talk—a lot. and there’s also times when both of you just stay in the call in silence as you do your own thing. yet neither of you noticed that the clock was nearing your time of birth.
4:15 AM.
while you were in the midst of telling childe something about your childhood (he thinks that he could never get tired of hearing about yours since his wasn’t all that interesting in comparison), he suddenly spoke. “hey look, you’re officially twenty now.”
your eyes glanced at the time displayed on your phone screen, and sure enough, it was indeed a quarter after four in the morning.
“huh, you’re right.”
“happy birthday again, (name).”

**EXPLICIT LANGUAGE WARNING**
Laverne finally lands a new job thanks to her Pop calling in a favor with a war buddy. A guy he saved in Anzio (for real, this time), Mr. Ajax turns out to be a big wheel with a place in a future-facing industry. His company makes aeronautics supplies for NASA. Laverne is put to work in one of his labs. There, her stern boss, G. Bullets Klein, puts her to the boring task of testing various products which are slated to go up into space on the latest shuttle. Then she's tasked with packing it. Her new co-worker, Chuck (Charles Fleischer), asks Laverne for help clandestinely testing a new anti-gravity space suit. But after a successful run, she can't get herself out of said suit. With quitting time at hand and the looming fact that no employees are allowed on the premises after hours, the two rush off back to Laverne's place. There, Laverne's friends and family are simultaneously planning a surprise birthday party for her (weeks in advance) while being grilled by Bullets Klein as part of Laverne's background check. Will shebe able to dodge a Bullets or will she be lost in the space suit forever?
On pod, Lisa talks about the infamous behind-the-scenes stunt mishap from this episode, while Chris has actor notes and nerdy trivia to go with his developing Season 8 opinions.

You know what I’d like to see? (Well, no, I wouldn’t like to see it because I know it wouldn’t be as good as I would want in my heart, but conceptually it is very cool and what I am yearning for.)
A TV series for the Trojan War.
You’d have to employ a huge cast of actors for time skips, and you’d have to set it at different times, but I want to see Thetis and Peleus’ lavish wedding feast supplied by the gods, interrupted by the apple - which would lead to, by necessity, the Judgement of Paris having to be delayed until years later (Achilles isn’t even born yet, after all, and Paris is a young man by the point of the judgement, and certainly not decades older than Achilles during the war lol.), but I want to see that too.
The births of Achilles and Helen, the whole ridiculous suitor thing, perhaps establish Helen/Menelaos as something she is cautiously looking forward to while yet also wishing for Something Different.
Paris’ arrival, with a seeming fulfillment of that “Something Different” Helen was yearning for, leading to disillusionment years later, the Greeks’ first failed attempt on Troy - I’d recommend a time-skip after they scatter after it, so we can have a “reasonably” aged Pyrrhus at the tail-end of this series, so the second muster is five-eight years after the first.
NOW you get to the Greeks assaulting cities up and down the Anatolian coasts, liberally employ timeskips - like, use battles and such like timestamps. I want to see Achilles chasing Aeneas to Lyrnessos, I want to see Briseis’ family and husband killed (I’m... pretty sure Achilles himself kills some or all of them /ahem), her being awarded to him. I want to see Chryseis being captured. Bring in the assault on Tenedos too.
I want to fucking see Athena commanding Achilles to kill Troilus, and him choosing not to pull that boy out of the temple he’s run into.
Then we can get to the Iliad proper - and look, I want to see those nine and then twelve days of plague suffering, interspersed with the gods feasting with the Aeithiopians/Tethys and Okeanos. SHOW US THESE THINGS.
I want to see Memnon and Penthesilea (and this should be fucking monumental fight between her and Achilles, I accept nothing less), I want to see Paris and/or Apollo kill Achilles. I want to see Odysseus going to pick up Pyrrhus and everything that comes after.
I want to see Odysseus and Diomedes go into Troy and Diomedes having to spank Odysseus with his sword while he carries the Palladium, ok.
Let’s actually show the end, not just the iconic horse being pulled into Troy, but the Greeks razing the city and killing and capturing people. We don’t actually need to see Ajax assaulting Cassandra, imply it, Pyrrhus killing Priam at Zeus’ altar and Astyanax being tossed from the walls (... I think we can skip the baby-clubbing version of Priam’s death).
End the whole thing on Aeneas and the people with him on their ships, under clear skies, while the Greeks sail into/towards the storm Athena and Poseidon are cooking up because of the failure to punish Ajax.

Fandom Userscript Cookbook: Five Projects to Get Your Feet Wet
Target audience: This post is dedicated, with love, to all novice, aspiring, occasional, or thwarted coders in fandom. If you did a code bootcamp once and don’t know where to start applying your new skillz, this is for you. If you're pretty good with HTML and CSS but the W3Schools Javascript tutorials have you feeling out of your depth, this is for you. If you can do neat things in Python but don’t know a good entry point for web programming, this is for you. Seasoned programmers looking for small, fun, low-investment hobby projects with useful end results are also welcome to raid this post for ideas.
You will need:
The Tampermonkey browser extension to run and edit userscripts
A handful of example userscripts from greasyfork.org. Just pick a few that look nifty and install them. AO3 Savior is a solid starting point for fandom tinkering.
Your browser dev tools. Hit F12 or right click > Inspect Element to find the stuff on the page you want to tweak and experiment with it. Move over to the Console tab once you’ve got code to test out and debug.
Javascript references and tutorials. W3Schools has loads of both. Mozilla’s JS documentation is top-notch, and I often just keep their reference lists of built-in String and Array functions open in tabs as I code. StackOverflow is useful for questions, but don’t assume the code snippets you find there are always reliable or copypastable.
That’s it. No development environment. No installing node.js or Ruby or Java or two different versions of Python. No build tools, no dependency management, no fucking Docker containers. No command line, even. Just a browser extension, the browser’s built-in dev tools, and reference material. Let’s go.
You might also want:
jQuery and its documentation. If you’re wrestling with a mess of generic spans and divs and sparse, unhelpful use of classes, jQuery selectors are your best bet for finding the element you want before you snap and go on a murderous rampage. jQuery also happens to be the most ubiquitous JS library out there, the essential Swiss army knife for working with Javascript’s... quirks, so experience with it is useful. It gets a bad rap because trying to build a whole house with a Swiss army knife is a fool’s errand, but it’s excellent for the stuff we're about to do.
Git or other source control, if you’ve already got it set up. By all means share your work on Github. Greasy Fork can publish a userscript from a Github repo. It can also publish a userscript from an uploaded text file or some code you pasted into the upload form, so don’t stress about it if you’re using a more informal process.
A text editor. Yes, seriously, this is optional. It’s a question of whether you’d rather code everything right there in Tampermonkey’s live editor, or keep a separate copy to paste into Tampermonkey’s live editor for testing. Are you feeling lucky, punk?
Project #1: Hack on an existing userscript
Install some nifty-looking scripts for websites you visit regularly. Use them. Ponder small additions that would make them even niftier. Take a look at their code in the Tampermonkey editor. (Dashboard > click on the script name.) Try to figure out what each bit is doing.
Then change something, hit save, and refresh the page.
Break it. Make it select the wrong element on the page to modify. Make it blow up with a huge pile of console errors. Add a console.log("I’m a teapot"); in the middle of a loop so it prints fifty times. Savor your power to make the background wizardry of the internet do incredibly dumb shit.
Then try a small improvement. It will probably break again. That's why you've got the live editor and the console, baby--poke it, prod it, and make it log everything it's doing until you've made it work.
Suggested bells and whistles to make the already-excellent AO3 Savior script even fancier:
Enable wildcards on a field that currently requires an exact match. Surely there’s at least one song lyric or Richard Siken quote you never want to see in any part of a fic title ever again, right?
Add some text to the placeholder message. Give it a pretty background color. Change the amount of space it takes up on the page.
Blacklist any work with more than 10 fandoms listed. Then add a line to the AO3 Savior Config script to make the number customizable.
Add a global blacklist of terms that will get a work hidden no matter what field they're in.
Add a list of blacklisted tag combinations. Like "I'm okay with some coffee shop AUs, but the ones that are also tagged as fluff don't interest me, please hide them." Or "Character A/Character B is cute but I don't want to read PWP about them."
Anything else you think of!
Project #2: Good Artists Borrow, Great Artists Fork (DIY blacklisting)
Looking at existing scripts as a model for the boilerplate you'll need, create a script that runs on a site you use regularly that doesn't already have a blacklisting/filtering feature. If you can't think of one, Dreamwidth comments make a good guinea pig. (There's a blacklist script for them out there, but reinventing wheels for fun is how you learn, right? ...right?) Create a simple blacklisting script of your own for that site.
Start small for the site-specific HTML wrangling. Take an array of blacklisted keywords and log any chunk of post/comment text that contains one of them.
Then try to make the post/comment it belongs to disappear.
Then add a placeholder.
Then get fancy with whitelists and matching metadata like usernames/titles/tags as well.
Crib from existing blacklist scripts like AO3 Savior as shamelessly as you feel the need to. If you publish the resulting userscript for others to install (which you should, if it fills an unmet need!), please comment up any substantial chunks of copypasted or closely-reproduced code with credit/a link to the original. If your script basically is the original with some key changes, like our extra-fancy AO3 Savior above, see if there’s a public Git repo you can fork.
Project #3: Make the dread Tumblr beast do a thing
Create a small script that runs on the Tumblr dashboard. Make it find all the posts on the page and log their IDs. Then log whether they're originals or reblogs. Then add a fancy border to the originals. Then add a different fancy border to your own posts. All of this data should be right there in the post HTML, so no need to derive it by looking for "x reblogged y" or source links or whatever--just make liberal use of Inspect Element and the post's data- attributes.
Extra credit: Explore the wildly variable messes that Tumblr's API spews out, and try to recreate XKit's timestamps feature with jQuery AJAX calls. (Post timestamps are one of the few reliable API data points.) Get a zillion bright ideas about what else you could do with the API data. Go through more actual post data to catalogue all the inconsistencies you’d have to catch. Cry as Tumblr kills the dream you dreamed.
Project #4: Make the dread Tumblr beast FIX a thing
Create a script that runs on individual Tumblr blogs (subdomains of tumblr.com). Browse some blogs with various themes until you've found a post with the upside-down reblog-chain bug and a post with reblogs displaying normally. Note the HTML differences between them. Make the script detect and highlight upside-down stacks of blockquotes. Then see if you can make it extract the blockquotes and reassemble them in the correct order. At this point you may be mobbed by friends and acquaintainces who want a fix for this fucking bug, which you can take as an opportunity to bury any lingering doubts about the usefulness of your scripting adventures.
(Note: Upside-down reblogs are the bug du jour as of September 2019. If you stumble upon this post later, please substitute whatever the latest Tumblr fuckery is that you'd like to fix.)
Project #5: Regular expressions are a hard limit
I mentioned up above that Dreamwidth comments are good guinea pigs for user scripting? You know what that means. Kinkmemes. Anon memes too, but kinkmemes (appropriately enough) offer so many opportunities for coding masochism. So here's a little exercise in sadism on my part, for anyone who wants to have fun (or "fun") with regular expressions:
Write a userscript that highlights all the prompts on any given page of a kinkmeme that have been filled.
Specifically, scan all the comment subject lines on the page for anything that looks like the title of a kinkmeme fill, and if you find one, highlight the prompt at the top of its thread. The nice ones will start with "FILL:" or end with "part 1/?" or "3/3 COMPLETE." The less nice ones will be more like "(former) minifill [37a / 50(?)] still haven't thought of a name for this thing" or "title that's just the subject line of the original prompt, Chapter 3." Your job is to catch as many of the weird ones as you can using regular expressions, while keeping false positives to a minimum.
Test it out on a real live kinkmeme, especially one without strict subject-line-formatting policies. I guarantee you, you will be delighted at some of the arcane shit your script manages to catch. And probably astonished at some of the arcane shit you never thought to look for because who the hell would even format a kinkmeme fill like that? Truly, freeform user input is a wonderful and terrible thing.
If that's not enough masochism for you, you could always try to make the script work on LiveJournal kinkmemes too!

How to Use Yajra Datatables in Laravel 9 Application
Tumblr media
User data display is a fundamental necessity for web development. This tutorial's main goal is to show you how to use Yajra Datatables, a third-party package, to generate Datatables in Laravel. This Laravel datatables tutorial demonstrates how to construct yajra datatables in Laravel while also teaching us the necessary techniques. We will work to eliminate any ambiguity that may have surrounded your creation of the Laravel datatables example. We'll look at a laravel datatables AJAX example and a laravel Bootstrap datatable simultaneously. Consider a scenario where you are presented with thousands of records and must manually search through each one to find the information you need. Doesn't seem easy, does it? To manage the data dynamically in the table, Datatables provides easy search, pagination, ordering, and sorting functions, in my opinion making our task less dreary. A plug-in driven by jQuery, also known as the Javascript library, is called DataTables. It is a remarkably adaptable tool that adds all of these subtle and cutting-edge features to any static HTML table. It was created on the principles of progressive and dynamic augmentation.
Features
- Pagination - Instant search - Multi-column ordering - Use almost any data source - Easily theme-able - Wide variety of extensions - Mobile friendly Even though we will only be using a few functionalities, such as search, sort, and pagination, we will attempt to integrate these elements with aesthetically pleasing HTML tables that are robust from a UI/UX standpoint.
Table of Contents
- Install Laravel App - Install Yajra Datatables - Set Up Model and Migrations - Insert Dummy Data - Create Controller - Define Route - Create View
Install Laravel App
In general, deploying a new Laravel application is the main emphasis of our initial step. Install the sacred canon by executing the artisan command listed below. composer create-project laravel/laravel laravel-yajra-datatables --prefer-dist cd laravel-yajra-datatables
Install Yajra Datatable Package
Yajra Datatables Library is a jQuery DataTables API for Laravel 4|5|6|7, and I wonder whether you've heard of it. By taking into account the Eloquent ORM, Fluent Query Builder, or Collection, this plugin manages the server-side operations of the DataTables jQuery plugin through the AJAX option. The following command should theoretically assist you in installing the Yajra DataTable plugin in Laravel. composer require yajra/laravel-datatables-oracle Expand the basic functions of the package, such as the datatable service provider in the providers section and the alias inside the config/app.php file. ..... ..... 'providers' => 'aliases' => ..... ..... Continue by running the vendor publish command; this step is optional. php artisan vendor:publish --provider="YajraDataTablesDataTablesServiceProvider"
Set Up Model and Migrations
Run a command to generate a model, which contains the database table's schema. php artisan make:model Student -m Add the following code to the file database/migrations/timestamp create students table.php. public function up() { Schema::create('students', function (Blueprint $table) { $table->id(); $table->string('name'); $table->string('email')->unique(); $table->string('username'); $table->string('phone'); $table->string('dob'); $table->timestamps(); }); } Open the Student.php file in app/Models and add the schema to the $fillable array. a touch of madness
I recently led a second tech talk at my job, and to adequately explain websockets, I built perhaps the dumbest project yet:
Tumblr media
ClickClique is a competitive real-time button-masher wherein you and your friends trigger that mousedown event as fast as you can. On the front-end, visiting the site establishes a two-way websocket connection with the nodeJS server:
Tumblr media
When you click, the x and y coordinates are sent using the built-in .send() method:
Tumblr media
The server stores everybody's connection in local memory, in an object, meaning no database is necessary:
Tumblr media
Instead, there’s a big ol’ array of “clicks” - (x,y) coordinate pairs with timestamps and randomly generated user IDs. Incidentally, those user IDs are constructed such that they can be used as hexadecimal color values:
Tumblr media
When you add a new click to the clicks array, the oldest one is pushed out - so there are never more than 100:
Tumblr media
Then this updated array is sent out, and not just to the clicker, but to everyone:
Tumblr media
In a long-polling or short-polling AJAX application, this would be either more resource-intensive or less immediate, respectively. But websockets make it seamless. Anyway, the background color updates to show who's winning, and a small CSS transition depicts the opponent clicks as growing, fading circles:
Tumblr media
When I showed this to a room full of software engineers, of course someone wrote a script that auto-clicked 100 times a second... but outside of cheating, can you best your friends?
tl;dr: websocket is great for instantaneous two-way communication; click listeners give you the event position with .clientX and .clientY; CSS transitions are a simple way to gradually adjust height, width, and opacity
project: ClickClique

Raspado de publicaciones de Reddit
En este tutorial, le mostraremos cómo raspar publicaciones de un grupo Reddit.
Para continuar, es posible que desee utilizar esta URL en el tutorial:
https://www.reddit.com/r/startups/
Seleccione"Variable list" e ingrese:
//div[contains(@class,'Post')and not(contains(@class,'promoted'))]//h3
Haga Click en "OK" para guardar
Tumblr media
Author: //div[@data-test-id='post-content']//a[contains(@href,'/user/')]
Tiempo: //div[@data-test-id='post-content']//a[contains(@data-click-id,'timestamp')]
Comentatio: //div[@data-test-id='post-content']//a[contains(@data-click-id,'comments')]
Contenido: //div[@data-test-id='post-content']//div[contains(@class,'Text')]
Votos: //DIV[@id='overlayScrollContainer']//button[@aria-label="upvote"]/following-sibling::div
Tumblr media
¡Consejos!

Needing to creating a URL scheme for a page with javascript (though not AJAX) filters. The problem is twice a day the relevant filter results change. https://www.reddit.com/r/SEO/comments/dy4jsi/needing_to_creating_a_url_scheme_for_a_page_with/
Imagine a set of college classes and the filters are day of week, time of day (morning/noon/evening), professor, location, semester, etc. The page they're displayed on loads with all of the results/records. But by default, on load, a set of filters also loads so that you're viewing only the relevant current records.
Example: all results load but since right now it's 10:12 on a Monday morning in November, only results for classes that are beginning after 10:12 AND run on Mondays AND run in the Winter are displayed. The user can then adjust the filters however they see fit.
Now, I'm adding functionality so that each filter set has a unique url and each unique url has a set of filters in enables/disables.
Some questions:
Is the canonical version the one with no filters applied?
Seeing conflicting info about hash vs shebang. How should the non-base url start?
What is the recommended structure for the params and values in the url?
Example params and values that need to go into the url for the above example
param: time; value: 1012 (not using Unix timestamps since the date isn't relevant for this param)
param: dayOfWeek; value: Monday
param: timeOfDay; value1: morning, value2: afternoon, value3: evening (for whatever reason I don't remember, I chose to not have a value of "ALL")
param: semester; value: winter
Each filter has been declared in code (not runtime) whether it's an AND or OR.
What's the best way to structure the urls and what other SEO advice can you give me?

Using 'tabular figures' for more elegant dynamic number rendering
If your interface has elements with changing digits, such as a video timestamp or a user controlled numeric slider, then it may be worth considering using a font that supports monospaced numbers (a.k.a. tabular figures) to improve the user experience.
The animation below perfectly demonstrates the difference, with the proportionally spaced digits jumping around erratically as the values change:
This indicative image comes from Lior Azi's superb related article, which does a great job of highlighting plenty of real world examples of dynamic vs static numeric labels (both good and bad).
The easiest way to make this change? Use the following declaration in your CSS:
font-variant-numeric: tabular-nums;
Now, the above (which has around 90% global broswer support) will only work if your font has an appropriate alternative fixed-width glyph available to use — but there is a growing selection of monospaced fonts available, such as these options at Google Fonts.
Finally, if you want to know more about the font-variant-numeric property, then Geoff Graham has this handy write-up over at CSS Tricks.
