SENDO “AKKUN” ATSUSHI HEADCANONS !!

Okay, first post, deep breaths. Hi, hello, I came up with these very spontaneously and they’ve been bugging me so much, I had to get them out of my system so here they are. P.S. I haven’t finished reading Tokyo Revengers, in fact I’m wayyyy behind from finishing it but still, I love this boy to death so I hope you enjoy this silly brainrot, I'm so normal about him hahaha <3

General headcanons:

I feel like Akkun’s an absolute neat-freak. His room is always way too organized and tidy. His wardrobe is probably color-coded and everything.

Takes extremely good care of his hair. In fact, he’s so ‘protective’ of his hair, he never gets it cut or trimmed by anyone but himself.

Hair gel? What’s that? No, he wants his hair to be ✨authentic✨

Yep, boy owns tons of little trinkets to accessorize his hair. 

Definitely sings in the shower, hands down. 

Though, speaking of that, maybe he prefers baths over showers. 

He doesn’t use cologne, only smells of soap, shampoo, and fabric softener. 

His scent is a mix of cinnamon, lemon, and wildflowers. 

Prefers riding his bike to go literally anywhere, unless it’s very far away, that is. The perfect weather to ride his bike would be when it’s breezy, but not cold, like the spring breeze. 

I dunno why but why do I feel like he’s definitely a lactose intolerant? 

Lactose intolerant but likes ice cream too much. 

He can handle eating spicy food but prefers sweeter meals. 

HE SKATEBOARDS, REAL, YOU CANNOT CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE.

The moms tend to be really fond of him. I feel like he can be quite the people-pleaser when he wants to, so if visiting a friend's house, he'll try to help set the table and even insist on washing the dishes. Plus, good table manners.

He listens to classic rock music and metallica, I personally think he'd love AC/DC a lot - just picture him skating around, headphones on, bopping his head to 'Back In Black' .

Headcanons with reader as his S/O (gender-neutral):

Believe it or not, Akkun is quite the romantic guy. 

The type to be an absolute gentleman, treat you like you’re the centre of his universe, but also let-loose and have fun with you all the same. 

He’ll constantly try to make you laugh - makes a fool of himself with awful jokes but you love him for trying so much. 

Hugs you lots <3 There’s never a shortage of hugs with him. 

His favorite places to kiss you are your cheeks or forehead. He’ll get adorably bashful when you have a full-on kiss on the lips, - at first, you’d always be the one initiating them before he slowly started to relax into them.

Caresses your skin when he’s nervous. He fidgets a lot, but holding your hand or having you close to him calms his mind. During kisses, he’ll caress your cheek tentatively, but if you lean into his touch, he’ll ease up. 

After coming from a fight, all bruised up, the first thing he does when he sees you is slump his head on your shoulder, cling onto you, and even shed a few tears. You’re his safe space. You’ll let him cry as much as he needs to. And he’s always the most honest he can be with you. 

Sometimes, it just gets a bit too hard to keep going, and during those sad days, you’d hold him close as you both lay down and switch from rubbing his back to kissing his face until he’s in a giggling fit. 

Styles your hair for you every chance you give him. The way he gets so excited whenever you let him is way too adorable. He’ll stock up on accessories that will suit your style, too. 

Also, he buys you all sorts of hair products to keep it healthy and nice. 

Having baths with him is very intimate and tender. He’ll wash your hair all gently while rambling about literally anything and nothing while you’ll play with bubbles.

 He texts you little affirmations everytime you’re not with him, along with a bunch of heart emojis. 

Takemichi, Kazushi, Takuya and Makoto all care for you almost as much as Akkun does. You often hang out with them, as the honorary member of the ‘Mizo Middle Five’. 

The day it’s you who comes to him after you get into a fight, you couldn’t recall any other time you’ve seen him look this worried and panicky. Immediately, he’ll tend to your wounds, making sure he’s as gentle as possible. Lowkey, he’ll actually be impressed that you kicked some butt, almost wishing he was there to witness it firsthand. 

At times he’ll feel like he isn’t good enough for you, that he isn’t giving you anything in return. You’re always there for him whenever he needs it. He wants to be the giver in the relationship as well. He wants to protect you as much as you protect him. 

The way he’s so loyal to the people he cares about is one of the main reasons why you fell so deeply in love with him. 

Dates with him are very sweet. He usually lets you decide where to go and what to do, whatever you’re comfortable with. He’ll often take you on bike rides, too. 

He’s not too big on PDA, the most he’ll do is hold your hand and keep you close, just to show that you’re taken.

He gets jealous but keeps it very subtle. He lets his guard down when you’re with the others in ‘Mizo Middle Five’, but if it’s anyone else, he gets very cautious.

But if anyone even dares to harass you, he won’t be afraid to knock them out cold. 

You two have many songs that you’d like to call your own but one of them would definitely be ‘You’ by Hollywood Ending .

Draken x Reader

"Draken!" You exclaimed, running into his hospital room.

Draken had gotten stabbed by Kiyomasa last night, luckily Takemichi and his friends fought to get your boyfriend to an ambulance. Your heart dropped when Akkun called to tell you what had happened. Draken was admitted to the hospital and, thankfully, would make a full recovery.

It was now the morning after the big fight. You waited outside of Draken's hospital room for the doctor to check up on him and see if he's stable to have visitors. Your heart nearly jumped out of your chest when you were allowed in.

Which is where we're at now.

You came to a halt at the side of the bed, your boyfriend smirking up at you, his arm slung over his bandaged torso.

"Hey honey." He spoke softly. His words made the tears you've been trying to hide flow freely.

"You scared me, Ken." You sobbed.

The blonde's smirk faded as he reached to grab your hand. His hand felt so comforting and warm.

"I'm okay, baby. I'm not going down that easily."

You nodded, using your free hand to wipe away the stray tears. Gently, you bent down to lean your head onto his shoulder, nuzzling into his neck.

"You smell like hospital." You joked, causing Draken to let out a small chuckle.

"Yeah, I know. I'll be back to smelling like my normal self soon though," he paused to let you move your head up, placing a kiss on your lips in the process, "Y'know you can lay on here with me. I'll move over for ya."

Shaking your head, you responded, "Don't hurt yourself more for my comfort."

A knock sounded from the door. You spun around to see a bandaged Takemichi standing in the doorway.

"Sorry, bad time?" He asked, stepping inside anyway.

"Not at all." You spoke, to which Draken continued with a "The more the merrier."

"Good to see you're okay, Draken." The other blonde said, approaching the bed.

"All thanks to you. You look worse than I do, Takemitchy."

You Deserve A Happy Future Too

Summery: Takemichi is tired...he's tried so hard to keep everyone alive, safe, and happy in the best timeline he could make...but at the cost of his own mentality...

"You can't save everyone."

Those words...they hit him harder than anyone ever could have. No amount of beating would ever hurt as much as those words. He almost wanted to yell at you to take those words back. But he knew...deep down...you were right.

He couldn't save everyone.

He's tried so hard, went back to the future then back to past over and over again and always something is wrong or someone is dead or going to die. No matter how many times he did it over, no matter how hard he tried...nothing changed...not in the right way that is.

There was no future that looked bright to him now...not even his own...

"Takemichi." You spoke softly. "I know it hurt but...not everyone gets a happy ending. It's just the sad truth. People die, in unfair ways, all the time. People who may or may not deserve it too." You continued. "And if you keep doing this, one day, one of those people will be you."

"B-but...I promised...I'd save everyone!" He finally broke down sobbing as the truth settled down in his mind. He made a promise to so many. Hina, Naoto, Akkun, Chifuyu, Draken, Mikey...everyone...

You went to his side, and pulled him in for a hug. "You did your best Takemichi...this is killing you. I can tell...please...please you have to see it too." He knew it was, every failed attempt was a new weight on his fragile shoulders. Every time he'd see another loved one die or in a terrible place mentally or physically it'd wear down his mind little by little.

"I promised-"

"You deserve a happy future too!" You cut him off, tears gathering in your own eyes as well.

Takemichi only continued to sob as he hid his face within your shoulder. He would have liked that...A happy future, with everyone. It was something he wanted from day one, but he wasn't sure how likely that dream would come true was now...

For you, you'd like to see Takemichi along with everyone else happy together as well...but not at the cost of Takemichi's mentality. You could only hope he'd feel the same way, and accept that not everyone could be saved. As sad as it was...it was true. Even if he manages to save nearly everyone, with one person still unhappy or dead...it would be the best case...

Otherwise Takemichi would loose himself as well as his mind.

The decision of whether he'll stop time traveling or not is entirely up to him. And whether or not he listens to you and eases his mind and body...

Only time will tell...

The Ghosts That Haunt Us

Chifuyu bites his lip, trying to swallow down the sobs that threaten to climb out of his throat. He grabs a pillow, stuffing his face into it and biting to muffle all the sounds that threaten to leak from his overflowing heart. 

The pillow is stained with his tears, his body shaking in silent sobs, and from the ghost of a cold cold body that he once held in his arms years ago.

Besides him, he can feel Takemichi twitch awake, shifting to wrap an arm around him. He feels him hesitate before settling his arm across his waist, pulling him into the warmth of his embrace.

God, what a terrible boyfriend he is. 

Up late, picturing a black sea and a grey sky, when he has the warmth of the sun and a bright blue sky right besides him. 

But he can’t help it. 

Tonight, he misses Baji.

Tonight, he needs him.

He loves Takemichi.

Their relationship isn’t laced in beauty or innocence. It was originally a partnership bred from the need to save the future. But he’s understanding, and kind, and always there to help. He’s sweet and dedicated, fiercely loyal, and so so loving. 

They sought comfort in each other because they understood each other. Better than anyone else. 

He knows Takemichi doesn’t blame him for the days that he can’t reciprocate his love, because his heart is somewhere else. He knows Takemichi understands more than anyone why he can’t share his food sometimes. He knows that Takemichi understands, better than anyone. 

Mistakes were made and there were casualties of Takemichi’s battle against time, and even though they managed to find a future where everyone could be together, the ghosts of the past still haunt them both. 

But sometimes, he wonders if their love is born out of necessity rather than true love.

Chifuyu knows it’s hard. He cries over Baji often. 

The night of his birthday and the day of. The week of Halloween, the days before when he didn’t have his friend. Sometimes, he cries when he sees a black cat or a stray. He cries on dates they had made special memories of.

Some days are a light rain, other are storms that flood.

Chiufyu thinks that he must only exists in tears and in numbness. There are days he can feel, so all he feels is pain, and days where he can’t, so he feels nothing. 

Takemichi seems to be able to handle it so well. But Chifuyu knows. He knows this is too much for him to bear. 

Takemichi already saved the future, so he should be able reap the fruits of his labor. 

And yet here he is, fighting a losing battle to save Chiufyu.

Takemichi, more than anyone, hurts seeing Chifuyu cry. And yet, he has to deal with it the most. 

He feels the most guilty, the most responsible. Because he knew and he still couldn’t do anything about it. 

Chifuyu sees it in Takemichi’s eyes when he wakes up with a start after dreaming of black and grey, and red. So much red. The look in Takemichi’s eyes, screaming that he shoudn’t be here. That there should be someone else. 

Someone to go to the pet store with him every morning. Someone who helps him fight his battles. Someone who will split his yakisoba with him. Someone named Keisuke Baji. 

And Chifuyu wants to comfort him and tell he loves him and loves having him around.

But it feels pointless when his tears later that night wash away all his words.

On good nights, Chifuyu will lay his head in Takemichi’s chest, curled into his side, letting him run mindless patterns into his back.

Takemichi tucks his head under his chin and whispers sweet nothings to him.

On those night, they feel like a normal couple, instead of a pair cursed by time.

He just comes to visit me 

When I’m dreaming, every now and then

Its hard to count the amount of times Chifuyu has woken up screaming another man’s name.

But the nightmares are so frequent, it’d probably be easier to count the times he didn’t.

In his dreams, he’s always a first-year in middle school, walking through the hallways to find a nerd who can’t spell or write properly. So he helps the poindexter write a letter and in return, he gives him a friendship with so much love that it’s enough to last his whole life.

And in the dream, he spends so many days on the floor of his or the other boy’s bedroom tutoring him and teaching him all sorts of things. And they play with stray cats that come through the boy’s windows. And there’s so much peyoung yakisoba. And at the end of his dream, he’ll get to hold him at night, and he feels warm…

…until the warmth starts to feel wet too.

And suddenly he’s back in a junkyard, holding the boy he loves as he bleeds out.

Helpless and useless.

So he screams.

And after all that we’ve been through

There’s so much to look forward to

What was done and what said

“Thank you,” Chifuyu whispers into the dark bedroom.

Takemichi gives him a confused look. “What for?”

Chifuyu draws patterns into Takemichi’s chest. Tonight is a good night.

“For saving me. I can’t even imagine what I was like in that first future. I probably didn’t have anyone to rely on, y’know. In Toman, I’ve only really been close to you…and well…y’know.” He doesn’t want to say it, lest he break the peaceful spell his mind has cast on him today.

Takemichi tightens his arm around Chifuyu. “Ah, well. You don’t have to thank me. I just did it to get out of my apartment. I’ve been stuck there like every future.”

Chifuyu chuckles, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend’s torso, and rests his head on his chest. He breathes in Takemichi’s body wash and the scent of lavender from their detergent, counting his heart beats.

He’s still here. He’s still alive.

Cherish him.

“Thank you for saving me, for saving all of us,” he whispers as he turns to look up in his beautiful blue eyes.

There’s a flash of sadness in Takemichi’s eyes, before it’s replaced quickly. He smiles softly, though it seems a bit forced around the edges.

“It’s the best damn thing I’ve ever done,” he whispers before planting a soft kiss on his forehead.

On the days after bad nights, Takemichi makes breakfast. He developed cooking skills at some point in this future, he tells Chifuyu.

But on those mornings, he can badly stomach anything so Takemichi will make him a smoothie and pack a light bento. He makes him fresh green tea that warms him up, and turns on the diffuser mixing eucalyptus and peppermint.

He kisses Chifuyu on the head, never on the lips. He gives him a tight hug and whispers “have a good day”, never I love you. He tries so hard to be a friend, like he knows he isn’t the one Chifuyu loves on those days.

They both have ghosts that haunt them.

Takemichi’s exists on high rise buildings, in truck crashes, and a building in another country with no ceilings.

There are nights that Takemichi wakes up screaming Hina’s name or Mikey’s name or Akkun’s name. There are even days where he screams Chifuyu’s. There are days where the pots will bang together and Takemichi will collapse in fear. Takemichi avoids fires, loud noises, and lives his life as if he’s apologizing for living.

On the rare occasions he’s opened up to Chifuyu about those other futures, they’re usually about the first one, the one before he ever time-leaped. He opens up about how pathetic he was and how he was always apologizing.

And even though he’s a lot more sure than the man-boy in his stories, Chifuyu can’t help but think that old habits die hard.

Takemichi takes care of Chifuyu so well, it almost seems like he’s apologizing.

For Baji, for not being Baji, for not being able to time-leap again to save him.

For being here when he feels he shouldn’t be.

He doesn’t ask, but he can suspect that there was a future where things went really bad for him and Takemichi feels responsible.

He doesn’t ask, because Takemichi won’t tell him the truth.

That this relationship is all just one big apology. That Takemichi’s love for him is just one big savior complex. That all of this is out of a sense of responsibility.

Toss. The puzzle hits her palm with an audible whap. 

“You told me I get a favor, right? Since you fucked me over and put me in the death pool. You said—“ she looks at her watch to read aloud. “’Put in on my tab. Just give me a wink when you want want something and I’ll do it.’”

She puts her elbows on the table and delivers a big, pointed, playing-to-the-back-rows wink, utterly without warmth or humor.

“What I want is for you to answer our questions honestly and stop fucking around. You keep giving half-answers. And I remember you telling me you didn’t mind the idea of throwing a trial, way back in the village. I think you’d do to cover your ass, and I think you’d do it to protect a friend, and I think you’d for fun.

“So. Cashing in my favor, or trying to. What were the prop knives for? You say not for a murder mystery party, fine — for what? What was the tape for? You helped set up. I don't believe you wouldn't know.”

“And I’m pretty dead sure you put together that stupid note, because corny bullshit like that is very on-brand for you and nobody else in your block would do it. You’re seriously trying to claim Akkun would threaten to hurt his friends? That Lindsay would threaten to hurt Akkun’s friends? Bullshit. So — did Mugen know it was you? Did Mugen talk about how and when he’d gotten it?"

Earthquake

Authors Note: Hello all!  I have another Ino Shika Cho drabble collection in response to the Mitsuki Disappearance Arc in Boruto.  I hated that Team 10 had such a big role but there wasn't any kind of scene showing how their parents responded to it... :sigh:  and so here we are.  If you haven't gotten that far in the anime I think that you can still read and understand it but proceed with caution if you don't want spoilers at all.   Whelp either way I hope that you enjoy it! 

Ino

Inojin stood at his parents' door wondering whether he should knock or not. He knew that his loss couldn’t compare to what both of them had experienced but right now he needed them. 

His need for comfort won out over his embarrassment and he knocked on the door.  “Come in.” He walked in his eyes downcast while Sai and Ino moved so that he could settle between them. It had been years since he’d needed to crawl into bed with them. 

Ino looked down at her son and pulled him into her arms the glittery tears in his eyes breaking their hearts. Sai had filled her in on everything that happened. Inojin had told them a little as well, the rest of his team filling in any missing details.  Her baby had been through a lot.

Inojin clutched onto his mother trying to hide the tears in his eyes.  “I know it’s stupid to be this upset because you lost grandpa and uncle but it hurts.” Sai and Ino held onto him a little tighter.  He was starting to learn what the Shinobi world was really like and how high the stakes could be. They knew that he’d have to grow up but it still pained them that they couldn’t protect him forever.

Ino stroked his hair comfortingly.  “It doesn’t matter who or what it was.  A loss hurts. Akkun meant something to you even if it was just a short time with him.  Sometimes the best relationships are only a snapshot in time.” Ino assured him trying to validate his feelings. 

Inojin was his father's son and emotions could be difficult for him.  Processing this was going to take some time. When Ino found out what was going on, she and the rest of the Ino-Shika-Cho moms stormed in and camped out in the Hokage’s office while their husbands tried to keep them from rushing to Iwagakure.

“Does it ever stop hurting?”  The pain in his voice was enough to level their foundation. They fought so hard for peace. So that their son wouldn’t have to experience the same heartache they did and yet here he was in tears. 

“I wish that I could say that it does, but time does help. Thankfully you have wonderful memories of what you shared with him when it becomes really painful.”  Sai tried to explain but knew that it might be of little comfort right now. 

Ino tilted her son’s face so that his eyes that were so similar to her own could meet hers.  “From what it sounds like you gave Akkun a wonderful gift. You gave him a heart. He was able to care about someone so much, to find something so precious to him that he put himself in harm's way, for you. And for us, to make sure that you came back home.  We’re thankful for him.” Inojin nodded brushing the tears away. It was true, that little creature was the reason that he was home safe with his parents, he’d always be grateful for him. 

Inojin nestled between his parents feeling their love and support surrounding him.  He was thankful that he had a heart, that he had people that were worth protecting. 

“I uhm I love you guys. I just wanted you to know.” Sai and Ino both looked at each other the tears matching in their eyes.  Sai held his family close as they all latched onto one another. 

“We love you too baby.”

Once Inojin fell asleep they tucked the blankets around him and made their way to the kitchen too overwhelmed to sleep. 

Ino fell into her husband's arms in tears needing him to be strong for her. While Inojin was gone she had to have faith in his skills and the other genin but the reality was that he may have never come back.  She didn’t know what she would have done if that was the case.

Sai whispered words of comfort while rubbing her back. “He’s okay my Love, he’s here and safe, let’s just be grateful.” Sai felt like a fraud saying that knowing how worried he had been, but his wife needed comfort right now.  When he was in the Anbu, even during life or death missions, he didn’t know fear, that emotion had been trained out of him. But while Inojin was gone that terror had a grip on his heart. He wanted to learn about emotions, to feel and express them but he’d be happy to never experience that again.  

Ino took a deep breath and nodded.  It was always so difficult when Sai went away now she had to worry about Inojin leaving too.  This was the life that they chose but it was still hard for her not to be concerned about the two boys in her life.  In spite of it all, they were both incredibly proud of him and it made her happy to know that he used the Yamanaka clan jutsu. 

“We’re going to really start training him. I need him to be strong and able to care for himself.”  Sai nodded kissing her forehead recognizing the sheer determination in his wife’s eyes. 

They may not be able to keep him safe from all the sadness and tragedies of the world but they would make sure he had all the tools he needed to fight the darkness that existed. 

 Shika

 Shikadai dragged his feet down the path towards his home.  He was nervous about how his mother was going to react to this last mission.  

“Come on son, it will be fine I promise.”  His father assured him but he was still hesitant.  His mom was scary on a good day after this last stunt he didn’t know what sort of level of rage she was at.  

“We’re home!”  Shikadai stood there eyes downcast as his mother made her way towards them.  

“Shikadai…”  He shut his eyes and steeled himself for the inevitable berating.  Instead, he was surprised when she kneeled in front of him and gathered him into her arms. 

“Mom?”  He asked surprised.

“I’m very proud of you my little fawn.”   An unusually soft voice told him.  

Shikadai stood there in shock.  “What?”

He looked up at her admiration shining in her eyes.  “You used your intelligence and skills to keep your friends safe.  Not only that but you helped save another village. You were steadfast and brave in the face of danger and despair.  You acted quickly and thoughtfully. My son, you represented your village and your family well.” Shikadai felt tears appear in his eyes at the sincere pride in her voice.  He had so much to live up to because of his parents’ legacy that the pressure could be overwhelming at times. Moments like this helped. 

Temari held onto him a little tighter.  Since he’d gotten older he shied away from affection.  She missed holding her little fawn. When Shikamaru had filled her in on what was going on she tried to remain calm trusting in her son’s abilities. That she and Shikamaru had trained him well.  As a shinobi, she could understand, as a mother she was scared. She wasn’t used to feelings of fear but it took a hold of her. What was worse was the feeling of helplessness because apparently you can’t just cross country borders without authorization.  She wasn’t surprised at how quickly and efficiently Shikamaru worked to get Naruto clearance. She could tell how worried he was. Thankfully he had enough frame of mind to get the help that they needed. The two Shikas in her life had both come such a long way. 

“I’m happy that you’re okay.  And that you’re home safe.” Shikadai held onto her a little tighter.  

“Me too Mama.”  She placed an affectionate kiss on his forehead. 

“Wash up, I’ll have dinner done soon.”  Shikadai nodded heading towards his room.

He turned back to look at his parents.  “Mom, dad, thank you.”

 Temari took a deep breath before facing her husband.  “This is going to be our new normal huh?” 

Shikamaru pulled her into a tight hug each needing the other to ground them.  

“Yes, he’s far too intelligent and talented not to use his skills as a shinobi.” 

“I guess we’ll just have to get used to it then.” She couldn’t have a panic attack every time that her son went on a mission. So she’d have to make sure that he was prepared when he was on one. 

“He's grown a lot.”  Temari sighed thinking about her little baby that would look at her like she placed the clouds in the sky. 

“Yes, he's a lot more motivated than I was as a kid.  It makes me tired. I must say though that we make good kids.” Temari grinned in response. 

He kissed her softly a teasing glint in his eyes. “We did such a good job with Shikadai.  You’re really sure you don’t want one more?” 

She laughed in response her fingers running through his hair. “Hmm pretty sure, but we should keep practicing just in case.” 

Shikamaru kissed her softly and sweetly thanking the universe for his wife and son, the life he was lucky enough to live.  “I like how you think Princess.” 

 Cho

 The Akimichi family was sitting together enjoying a quiet dinner.  Karui had cooked all of her daughter’s favorite foods. It was her way of congratulating ChouChou on her mission and to process her feelings.  She was proud of the kunoichi that her daughter was growing into but that was still her baby out there.  

“Mom?”

“Yes little bug?”

“I want you to help me train using your jutsu.”  Chouji and Karui looked at her, surprised by the request and her motivation.  

“Really?”

ChouChou nodded in response. “Yes, I was thinking about everything that happened and if I can manage to use both then I'll really be able to help my team and friends.  I need to get stronger.”

“Okay, you know that I'm not going to take it easy on you right?”

Her eyes met her parents, fierce and determined.  “I don’t want you to be. Akimichis are not weak, we’re strong and reliable and I’m going to work as hard as I need to keep the people I care about safe.”

Her parents looked at her sheer pride present on their faces. “Alright, we’ll start tomorrow then.”  The small family smiled at each other before resuming their dinner. Grateful that they were there safe and complete. 

 After ChouChou went to bed Chouji found his wife outside training under the starlight.  The light from the moon reflecting off her katana blades, her lightning sending shocks of light across the dark sky.  He watched her enchanted at how effortlessly she moved, switching between using her blades or her jutsu. He rarely got to see her use her ninja skills unless they were training.  They seldom went on missions together as they had done before ChouChou was born. He was just as amazed now as he was back then.  

“Don’t just watch, come train with me, don’t want you to get rusty Honey.”  She teased him with a smug smile. He made his way towards her pulling her into his arms.  Her strong sturdy presence calming his own lingering fears and worries. 

“Wouldn’t want that now, would we.  After that dinner you cooked I could use some exercise Sweetheart.  Don’t take it easy on me either.” She kissed him affectionately so thankful for him.  She not only had an incredible husband and daughter she had a wonderful clan and extended family that loved and supported each other.  While she, Ino and Temari waited for information about their children they all agreed that their training would start in earnest. This incarnation of Ino-Shika-Cho would be the strongest yet.  They would make sure of it. When Ino, Shikamaru and Chouji were younger their fathers had taken the bulk of responsibility for training them. This time around the moms would carry that responsibility as well.  The three of them were amongst the most talented kunoichi of their generation and their children would be a reflection of that. 

Their families had all experienced an earthquake but together they’d make the world shake under their feet.

Healthier Yandere Relationships

When you think about yanderes as a concept, a healthy relationship is usually not the first thing that comes to mind. Many say that it’s impossible or extremely rare to have a yandere be in a healthy relationship, but it is possible to make them, at least to some extent, healthier for both parties. Today, we’ll be discussing how to write a healthier relationship with a yandere and their s/o. 

Before we get into how to write a healthier relationship, let’s talk more about what makes a healthy relationship. Now obviously, there are a lot of different factors to having a good relationship and some of them are disputed up, but for now, I’ll try to go into some of the basics to what would make it healthy. 

The first thing would be communication. Essentially what this means is that both parties are able to express to each other how they feel. They can set boundaries or tell each other how much they love the other person, etc, etc. This doesn’t necessarily have to be verbal, it can also be things like gifts, gestures or physical affection. In concept, this should be relatively easy, but some things tend to be harder to communicate than others. In terms of yanderes, it would be things like how they show affection, how they react to their s/o giving affection, how they talk about their problems, etc. The better the couple communicates, the stronger their relationships tend to be. 

Another factor is compromise. Again, setting boundaries, making decisions and setting aside differences. This usually has to tie into communication because it’s pretty difficult to compromise without talking about it with each other and helps the two become more equal in terms of what they wish to do together. In terms of yanderes, it can be setting boundaries for how comfortable the s/o is with having someone watch them at night, having rules for how to react to someone when they become jealous and what constitutes as way too much texting at the s/o. This can be difficult since a lot of times in yandere type couples, one of them tends to be more dominant, which may cause problems for the couple as a whole.

Finally, there’s commitment. Basically how much time the couple spends together, putting each other before themselves and others and working through challenges and difficulties they might face. In terms of yanderes, making sure they’re there for their s/o, working through problems like jealousy or rage, sacrificing time for each other. This usually is the easiest part for a yandere since part of their charm is their undying devotion to their s/o, but things like working towards difficulties they might have maybe a bit more difficult if they fall into the habit of them over and over again. 

Basically, when it comes to more unhealthy yandere relationship, compromise and communications are usually the bigger faults that are failed to be addressed. Assuming that the yandere and the s/o are in a relationship, or at the least know each other (because you can’t really have a relationship if one doesn’t know the other exists), either or both can be problems in creating unhealthy actions. Communication for instance, like a yandere not telling the s/o how uncomfortable he feels when she hangs out with other guys, or compromise like a yandere’s restraint on taking pictures of their s/o. Of course, this communication doesn’t necessarily have to be verbal, and if the s/o or yandere can accept certain behaviors through the way that they communicate, then it makes for a better relationship. For instance, Nontan from Akkun to Kanojo, understanding Akkun’s reason for ignoring her after he goes into dere-dere mode and allowing him to have distance, or understanding that he may want to hide things in his room that she may not want to see, even if she doesn’t know that it’s just an absurd amount of pictures of her in his room. Compromise is generally important to think of as well, especially if the s/o isn’t as comfortable with certain behaviors that the yandere has or vice versa. For instance, in Koharu No Hibi, when Torri tells Koharu that the messages she sends to his phone are too much, and that, while it still freaks him out a bit, she can still send one message to him a day. 

There are a lot of ways to make a more healthy relationship between a yandere and their s/o’s but one of the most common ones is to make a lighter, or more harmless yandere. This is most common in things like Shoujo, where everything is generally very light, a slice of life, where things more or less follow the rules of a normal world, or comedy, where some actions are usually seen in a more comedic lens.

 For Shoujos, like Hananoi-kun to Koi no Yamai or Miniamaru Kareshi, because the tone is usually shown in a lighter and fairly romantically sweet eye, the actions of each of the yanderes are not very extreme. In a lot of cases, the story will focus more on the dere dere part of the character, and occasionally show the more yan part of them, especially if they are talking to someone like a childhood friend. Usually, the “lovesick” part of them is displayed in something like jealousy, “light” threats or warnings, or going overboard when doing something for their s/o. Jealousy is usually tied with the warnings or threats, though in these cases, it’s more of a warning to stay away from their s/o rather than an actual threat of violence, though occasionally that is the case and the overboard actions are usually things like overpreparing for a date, or being extremely clingy. Usually what differs these from a simply clingy person is either because of some version of overcompensating (like they’re afraid if a date goes wrong, the s/o might leave them, or they believe they aren’t good enough for the s/o if they don’t go overboard) or a way of showing love that ends up going overboard and possibly hurting them (a good example being in Hananoi-kun to Koi no Yamai where Hananoi-kun tries to find Hananai’s ring in the snow for so long that his fingers started to freeze.), or being more jealous and clingy than appearence first suggests (like in Miniamru Kareshi attitude towards his love rival). Most obviously though, they will not have any intention of letting go of the person that they love, even if its better for their s/o. Usually the view is from the s/o’s perspective, viewing their yandere doing various things since the story is usually more focused on them and not on the yandere, though there are stories that go from the yandere’s pespective. Of course, that’s also not to say that the shoujo can’t have a dark turn, plenty of shoujos tend to do that, like in the case of Arisa. However, a huge part of this genre would be the kind of fluffy romantic atmosphere that tends to surround them. Comedic moments may also be sprinkled in as well, usually to downplay the more “extreme” that the yandere has. 

In terms of Comedy, like in Yankee to Yandere no Karera ni wa Tomodachi ga Inai, AntiStalker or even a parody like The Parodied Jokeland, yandere can go very extreme, from blackmail, stalking, aiming a gun at someone, etc, but the end result is pretty much always harmless. I’ve talked a lot about Comedic Yanderes in my post here, but an important part of a comedic yandere is how flanderized a yandere’s characters are. A lot of times, the point is to go overboard on how a yandere is portrayed, which means that a lot of really extreme actions can be taken within the story and they may not really amount to much of a reaction to the people in the story. The important part is usually, the idea of the unexpected and the downplaying/reacting of their actions.  Since this analysis is talking about couples specifically, I’ll be talking about a couple of different dynamics that are common. The dynamics are restraint, encouraging tolerance, mischievous, and oblivious. These of course can be mixed and matched. Restraint is the most common one, where the yandere usually goes off the handle and the s/o has to prevent them from doing things to people or calm them down. A good example is the first couple chapters of He’s Harmless, I Swear, where Tammy has to restrain Tomoya down when he threatens the carnival guy for scamming him, or in Oath, where Rina has to restrain Akira from threatening a fellow student. Of course, the two usually have a fairly good relationship, but sometimes the yandere needs to be calmed down in many cases. Encouraging is another one, where the yandere and the s/o usually are usually in kahoots on whatever extreme actions they decide to do, like hurting someone that tripped the s/o. The comedy would mostly come from either a friend or outside person, or it will revolve more about the various shenanigans they go through to finish their goals, whether it succeeds or not. Tolerance is the dynamic where the yandere often goes off to do something crazy, and the s/o is pretty much okay with it. It can be that they know what the yandere is going to do (perhaps harmless or not), don’t really mind what might happen or are just oblivious to what will actually happen. The comedy in this case usually comes from an outside person, like a friend, trying to stop the yandere and reacting to both his and his s/o’s reactions. With this kind of dynamic, there is more of an implication of trust and understanding between the couple, especially if the s/o is correct in what the yandere is about to do. They also often can restrain them pretty easily with a simple scolding or pampering. I’d imagine usually in this case, the s/o is very relaxed and dead pan, although they can also be very upbeat and genki like as well if written well. Mischievous is generally more on the behavior of the s/o side and less on the yandere. Usually in these cases, the s/o wants to do something like pranking, surprising or outdo the yandere in something but pretty much always fails, either because the yandere is a couple of steps ahead of them, they have a different (and often more affectionate) reaction than what the s/o expected or the s/o screws up on what they’re doing. A good example would be AntiStalker, where the main character always seems to fail at assassinating her target. Although in a relationship, it’s usually done more to mess with their boyfriend then it is to actually harm them. Finally, there’s obliviousness, which is when the s/o is dating a yandere, but aren’t really aware of their yandere actions. A good example is Akkun to Kanojo and  Yankee to Yandere no Karera ni wa Tomodachi ga Inai, where in both cases, the s/os of the yanderes are oblivious of the actions of their yandere lovers. Again, this is another case where having a friend or someone else watching the yandere is important to see the comedy come through. 

On the opposite end of the spectrum, another way to write a good yandere couple is to make the s/o okay with yandere’s behavior of killing. Usually this happens in more of a drama or thriller scene, where the s/o is also capable or doing what the yandere does, and basically makes them both a power couple. In this case, the s/o would be able to better restrain the yandere’s behavior and would be able to trust each other. Depending on how the story is written, they can be the villains or the heroes, like in a survival situation. Or, it could be a story of how the two come to trust each other in various situations. 

Finally, there’s something I call a healthy unhealthy relationship. It’s an oxymoron, yes, but thought it would be interesting to talk about. A healthy unhealthy relationship is one that is for sure, unhealthy but has all of the criteria of a healthy relationship. For instance, a s/o who dates a yandere because he looks like a former boyfriend and a yandere that dates the s/o so that he can be praised. Assuming that both parties know why they the other is dating them, all of the basics, communication, compromise and commitment can all be fufilled. Like a compromise to act like the s/o’s former boyfriend when cooking or a communicating how to praise the yandere and the commitment towards that. Technically speaking, this can be unhealthy because it can cause them to retain worse traits, like not moving on, believing that someone can replace someone else, believing that praise is all that they need to live, etc. While this may be “healthy”, the unhealthy aspect of it comes from the idea that this is not a stable relationship. If one of the parties messes up or decides to change, it can cause the whole delusion to fall apart and cause a lot of discord between the couple. Of course, there is also the possibility that they may actually fall in love and create a genuine relationship as well. 

Those are my thoughts on writing a healthier yandere couple. I wrote this in two days because I have a lot of assignments and such coming up, so I hope you enjoy.
