so I’ve seen ur adalice propaganda and I’ve heard vague mentions of alice, so what makes her the perfect girlfriend for ada? :)

WAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH *explodes*

This is not going to make much sense and I'm going to be all over the place and I apologise I am just very mentally ill over Alice (and ada x alice)

SO. Alice Abernathy is the main protagonist from the live action Resident Evil film series directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, starring Milla Jovovich as Alice. Alice started out as a highly trained operative working for Umbrella - she could kick some serious ass, and her job title was head of security so she'd basically act as a bodyguard or field agent depending on what Umbrella needed from her. However, once she found out the truth of what Umbrella was creating, all the genetic viruses and bioweapons, and how they planned to do terrible things with them, she worked with another Umbrella employee with the intention of spilling Umbrella's secrets before they released the virus, and then getting Umbrella shut down. Alice failed, because she was incapacitated by Umbrella's own security measures when another Umbrella agent (a bad guy) unleashed the T-virus on the entire Hive (Umbrella's underground facility where they actually worked on the T-virus, and everyone who worked here knew what they were doing). But point is she tried.

Alice is cunning, perceptive, kind-hearted, and strong-willed. She is also very stubborn, and believes she can accomplish anything just because she's not going to stop until it's done or she dies. She's very very dedicated and heroic. She refuses to shoot a single team member even after they've been obviously infected because there's the slightest chance they could find the cure in time, before she remembers there even is a cure. She thinks she can save them all through sheer will. She cares about anyone and is willing to set aside differences to help people. She knows her strengths and she's not afraid to face dangerous situations, even offering to go alone when she can because she doesn't want anyone else to get hurt. And the funny thing is, rather than introducing Alice to the games, Capcom has instead given many of her best traits and attributes to Leon: her heroism, her compassion, her eagerness to help, and her perseverance. (Leon was technically a character before Alice, but if you see the movies versus the RE games that came after, you'll get what I mean, it's very obvious they took lots of inspiration from Alice's character). They also literally ripped off the scene where Leon drives a motorcycle into the Arias monster in RE Vendetta from Alice doing the exact same thing in the second Resident Evil film, years before him. But later on, the movies started giving Alice aspects of Leon's character, because he only shows up in one movie. And when Ada is finally introduced to the films, they gave her and Alice the exact same knife fight as Leon and Ada had in the original RE4. Like, down to the flip thing Ada does to catch her gun. The same scene. That was where the Adalice thoughts first started for me, because h u h??? Giving your main protagonist the same scene with Ada that Ada also has with her love interest in the games???? hm,,,, (also worth mentioning - Milla Jovovich as Alice cannot be in the same shot as another woman without acting like she's in love with them. Like so many Alice ships exist with other women - Jill, Claire, Rain - because Alice naturally creates so much tension with the other female characters and cannot look at another women without heart eyes. It's so great.)

Now the FUN part is, Alice already knows who Ada is and what she does when they meet. She is fully aware that Ada indirectly worked for Umbrella, and was Wesker's top agent. And Ada's story is different than her journey in RE2 when she and Leon met - development wise, Ada's is about where she'd be after re4r. So while these factors are different, and Ada in this film is trying to move away from her past work, she still has Umbrella and Wesker tying her down. Alice knows all of this. And once Ada explains the situation, Alice trusts her. They help each other in this film, because they both have the common goal of taking down umbrella. Now some context, the films are MUCH more dystopian/apocalyptic, as Anderson decided to take the route of a global infection rather than only keeping the t-virus in raccoon city, and outbreaks select parts of the world like the games do. So at this point in the films, Umbrella has taken over the entire world, and Alice is still fighting tooth and nail to bring them down. Ada joins her, they help each other, but they also have mutual respect for each other. And even better, Alice doesn't expect more from Ada than Ada verbally offers to give. Alice is more than willing to complete tasks on her own, but Ada still helps her - even when Alice decides to adopt a little girl on the way who mistook Alice for her mother. (You can tell Ada doesn't really care for kids and it's funny, but she still helps Alice protect the girl). Ada gets to shine as her own character, and while she's definitely not given the same space and consideration that she gets in the RE4 Remake, she definitely gets more than most of the games combined. Ada being allowed to maintain her character and identity without having to sacrifice anything or give more than she's willing to just to appease Alice is one of the BIGGEST ways Adalice differs from Aeon, despite Alice and Leon being similar. (Ada has a type lmao)

Also, side note, here is the only "romantic" scene Ada and Leon share (and notice also how Ada looks at/reacts to Alice instead)

Anyways I guess what I'm trying to say here is, Ada and Alice have all the good attributes that Ada and Leon have, but without the one-sided obsession and secrets. (And Alice is like if Leon actually respected Ada as a person rather than an object of his desire he views through a warped lens LMAO.) And so there's the intrigue of Alice and Ada's dynamic where they are "on opposite sides", but they work together towards a common goal, respect each other, look out for each other, and care for each other, and it's mutual. And they get the enemies to lovers speedrun edition where they're only enemies for like 2 minutes.

Idk, I don't wanna be like "just watch the movie" but also,,, Resident Evil: Retribution is SUCH a good movie and I think everyone should watch it. It's my favourite live action RE film, and Ada and Alice's relationship just shines in it.

Been writing a lot of Resident Evil fics lately, and just noticed that I keep doing this thing where Alice/her girlfriends talk about being partners in an "I've got your back" kind of way, but there's also a clear undertone of "I love you and would do pretty much anything for you".

Summer in Forks was exactly like every other season; constantly raining. Sure the snow was gone, but that didn’t mean the skies were clear or that it warmed up much.

If I hadn’t kept a calendar up counting down the days til summer I probably wouldn't even notice it was summer. Bella lived with us now, so we wouldn’t go anywhere. Renee was busy with her husband. Honestly, Bella was just excited to spend more time with Edward.

But with summer came sun. Not much more, of course, but just a little more sun. All of the Cullens had to be very careful when they went out, so most of them just didn’t.

Rosalie and Emmett left shortly after they graduated again. Traveling to Africa to spend some time alone together. Alice, Jasper, Edward, and Bella spent most of their time at the Cullen house.

Carlisle's schedule did shift a bit. Instead of the 12 to 12 shifts, he swapped for early mornings to midday. He’d leave at 6am and get home before 6pm which gave us a good two hours to hang out with each other before I went to work at 8. Longer if I had the night off.

Like most days, I went to the Cullens house before 5 to wait for Carlisle to get home and since I did not have to work, I planned on staying awhile. I sat on the covered porch and tried to concentrate on the book I was writing but the sound of the rain was very distracting. I eventually gave up, set my book in the chair and walked into the rain.

The damp earth beneath my feet was the only reminder that I wasn’t wearing shoes. The mud and grass moved around every step I took. The beautiful house loomed behind me, a house that was constantly filled with family, my love for Carlisle, and the never ending sound of rain. I knew he’d be there to reel me in any minute.

I closed my eyes and tilted my head back. The raindrops did feel warmer. I didn’t know I needed to feel the raindrops on my face, but once I did, I couldn't get enough of it. I could feel the rain soaking through my shirt and yet, I didn’t move back to the porch. I lifted my hands up and tried to catch the rain.

For a moment, I allowed myself to get lost. I stood there, in the rain, with my headphones blasting the playlist I had made for Carlisle. I didn’t even notice I was swaying and spinning to the music. I hadn’t opened my eyes. I just allowed myself to exist.

I knew before I left the hospital that Y/n would be at the house. It didn’t surprise me when her car was in the driveway. I was only a little surprised when she didn’t come out to meet me. I followed her scent through the house.

I saw her out of the back window. She didn’t seem to notice the rain at all. Her book had been discarded and she had stepped off the porch into the rain. She’d been out there for a considerable amount of time, her hair was soaked through.

I wanted to go out there and pull her out of the rain. She was probably cold, but there was a softness in her features that I didn’t want to disturb. I watched her dance. She spun around with her arms out, letting the rain pour on her face and I was utterly enamored with her.

She existed in a way I had long forgotten. Being around her breathed a certain life into me I didn’t know I had gone without. I never thought I would be given the chance to love her the way I love her and yet I love her more than I'd dreamed possible. More than I knew the words to describe it.

I watched her from the doorway as the smallest smile formed on her lips and the will I had to stay back dwindled and pulled me out into the rain with her. She didn’t hear me coming, her music was playing loud enough for me to hear through her headphones.

My arm found her waist, my hand brushed her wet hair from her face before she even knew I was there. She was only startled for a second. Her heart skipped a beat before she realized it was me and it continued at its normal, soft pace. She leaned into my touch. She was warm and breathing and human and mine. I wanted to keep her out here, watch her dance as freely as she had, but also, the doctor in me was screaming to pull her into the dry warm house.

She spoke first, her voice was soft, her beautiful smile creeping over her lips again, “Dance with me.”

So I did, I held her tightly by the waist and spun her around and her laughter held so much joy I couldn’t bring myself to stop her or carry her inside. I let a few more songs play.

After another song faded my hand found her face again, she brought hers to cover mine. I kissed her and she tasted like the sky itself, like rain and salt.

I could feel her laughter against my lips. I breathed in the warmth of it. The safety that only she carried. I relished in moments like this with her, few and far between as they were. Moments that felt more human than not. But at this point, we were both dripping wet from the rain and my worry for her health took over.

I kissed her quickly again, “Come inside, Cara... We’ll get you in something warm and dry... I’ll make you soup... We’ll watch Buffy.” I kissed her lightly between sentences.

She seemed to warm up just at the words. “Well, only if we can watch Buffy.” She laughed and her lips met mine again briefly before I picked her up and carried her inside.

We found our normal spots on the couch in my office, after she changed into something warm and finished her soup. I continued the show where we had left off. I laid down with her in my arms and it wasn’t long before she was asleep. She curled herself into my chest and drifted off to sleep and for a moment I wished I could sleep with her.

The show continued to play in the background. I pulled the blanket up over her and wrapped my arms tightly around her. I didn’t notice when I closed my eyes, or when I matched my breathing to her own. I just allowed myself to exist.

This is a what if situation for the first two Resident Evil movies. Okay this is maybe gonna be a long intro. But I don’t want it to be so I’m gonna explain some stuff. Honestly the Resident Evil movies have their place in history. Now we are getting a reboot that’s gonna be more closer to the games roots. It’s just interesting to look back at those older films.

I did like that first film despite some stuff. But as the films went on they became more disappointing and just should of been better game adaptions. It even could of been an average franchise that wasn’t that disappointing but it happened anyway. 

I’ve been thinking about making this. But I have wondered about making this a trilogy with either the third being a Code Veronica adaption or Resident Evil 4 adaption. But I’m just gonna stick with the first two the 2002 film and Resident Evil Apocalypse. Basically my what if situation here is changing the story up a bit to be a bit more accurate to the games. While the movies are a loose adaption of the games yet more respectable to the source material. While also they are their own thing. Also keeping the same actors or most of them because I honestly don’t mind the casting of these films. It’s also the fact I don’t know much of these actors and again I don’t mind the casting choices. Because there are some I like.

Mostly in a way I imagine films like these to be around in the 34%(just like that first film) to a 45% or 49% or 50% on Rotten Tomatoes. Mainly with Apocalypse being the weaker film.

So here I go. Basically here’s my reworking and what if for the first two Resident Evil films.

Resident Evil 2002.

Story: An elite task force known as S.T.A.R.S. is sent to investigate the outskirts of Raccoon City near a mansion after a series of bizarre murders. The team consists of Jill Valentine(Sienna Guillory), Chris Redfield(Wentworth Miller), and Albert Wesker(Jason O’Mara) are sent out. But things start to go out of control as they become trapped in a mansion. Finding out there is more to it than it seems. Along with finding a amnesic woman named Alice(Milla Jovovich), and a team of commandos sent by the Umbrella corporation to investigate the mansion as well. Featuring their leader named Hunk(Collin Salmon), Rain(Michelle Rodriguez) and others.

Now all trapped in this mansion. Against a onslaught of zombies and other monsters. They must work together as they try to survive and escape the mansion. Along the way they discover more of who is behind the scenes of what’s going on.

Fun note: I discovered Jason Isaacs was the narrator and a cameo of William Birkin in the first film. But he couldn’t make into playing the character in the 2nd film. Was thinking of adding him in the 2nd film. But I think I’m fine. I just find that cool he was in the first film some how.

A possible score for this movie on RT would be 45% or just 50% or around that frame if it was handled with the right amount of care and I would of liked that.

Resident Evil 2 Apocalypse.

Story: It’s been two months since the mansion incident. With the chief of police not believing their story, Chris going to Europe to investigate Umbrella headquarters, and others like Alice, Hunk, and even Wesker missing. Jill(Sienna Guillory) is some what alone as the T-Virus now spreads into Raccoon City.

Yet now accompanied by her new partner Leon Kennedy(Jake Gyllenhaal), a rookie cop on his first day, and Chris’s younger sister Claire(Ali Larter) must stick together to survive the destruction of Raccoon City and all of the zombies and monsters.

Along the way meeting members of UBCS such as Carlos Oliveria(Oded Fehr) and Nicholai Ginovaef(Zack Ward), and even a mysterious woman named Ada Wong(Li Bingbing). But more trouble ensures when a B.O.W. named Nemesis begins to stalk them and try to kill anyone from S.T.A.R.S. or anyone connected to them. Along with Nicolai and Ada having other plans for their own sake.

During all of this, they find a girl named Sherry Birkin(Sophie Vavasseur) and they discover that her father William Birkin(Iain Glen) may of had a hand creating the virus and also a new one.

Fun note: This was interesting to find out and it turns out it’s a easter egg in a way. Screen Gems made a promotional faux newspaper detailing that Leon was Jill’s partner until he was killed by monsters. It’s something I found out on the Resident Evil wiki I think and wanted to look back at it. 

So I decided to use that easter egg as a idea for this loose adaption that mixes both Resident Evil 2, and 3 into one story. With Leon being Jill’s new partner in this. It seemed weirdly natural in a way.

Also the fact when I typed this. Including when I think about Resident Evil Apocalypse unless it was written better or whatever. It seemed like there were too many characters in that film. Including seeing this I do feel this seems a bit much unless it was handled well. Yet it’s possible William’s G form might not be included. Unless it’s some how in the end but that would be disrespecting the source material so maybe leave it in that third film. With Nemesis, who is no longer a tragic villain and now just simply a imposing antagonist sent by Umbrella. Along with Nicolai as a secondary antagonist. Just like his role of Nikolai in the third game. Despite the movie version is younger and has a different name, mainly Nikolai is spelt differently and the last name is different.

Along with the fun possibility of maybe Nemesis and his overcoat being Mr. X’s in a similar way a costume for Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite has for Nemesis. Or Mr. X could be another monster that’s not important. But I don’t know if that would bring justice to Mr. X on film. Besides I loved Nemesis’s design in Apocalypse so we might just stick with that.

But yeah a possible score for this movie could be 39% or so. Mainly in that 30′s range and I’m being nice about that. Basically meaning it’s not better than the first film but it’s alright. 

Well that took a bit. But yeah I’m done with that. Tell me your thoughts and I’m thinking about it. I could do a third but I don’t know if I want to unless I feel inspired. Besides we are getting a reboot that’s more faithful to the games and I’m excited about that. Especially again the RE movies have their place. I’m amazed there are 6. They should of been better, and luckily we are getting a reboot that hopefully is better.
