Dear Proofreader David Hernandez You’re right. I meant “midst,” not “mist.” I don’t know what I was stinking, I mean thinking, soap speaks intimately to my skin every day. Most days. Depending if darkness has risen to my skull like smoke up a chimney floe. Flue. Then no stepping nude into the shower, no mist turning the bathroom mirror into frosted glass where my face would float coldly in the oval. Picture a caveman encased in ice. Good. I like how your mind works, how your eyes inside your mind works, and your actual eyes reading this, their icy precision, nothing slips by them. Even now I can feel you hovering silently above these lines, hawkish, Godlike, each period a lone figure kneeling in the snow. That’s too solemn. I would like to send search parties and rescue choppers to every period ever printed. I would like to apologize to my wife for not showering on Monday and Tuesday. I was stinking. I was simultaneously numb and needled with anxiety, in the midst of a depressive episode. Although “mist” would work too, metaphorically speaking, in the mist of, in the fog of, this gray haze that followed me relentlessly from room to room until every red bell inside my head was wrong. Rung.

HP NEW GEN Parental Masterlist

Sooooo, I’m beginning to realize seeing the same style headcanons constantly might get a bit boring for some after a while, so I’ve decided to branch out and provide you with something new and exciting (although I will still be posting those headcanons).

When reading the headcanons about my OCs, some of you may wonder who these kid’s parents are. While I give context in the posts themselves, I thought it would be a fun idea to create a masterlist of who’s the child of who, just so I can say this blog has some variety to it.

This list will only include the parents of my OCs, as everyone already knows who the canon character’s parents are anyway. Also, the pairings on this list are - for the most part - very random. In addition, I’ve made the executive decision to cross this universe over with that of Roald Dahl’s “Matilda” because there’s no way she would not have gone to Hogwarts with the Potter-Gen crew. All this to say, this list might get a little crazy. You have been warned.

One more thing, and this one’s pretty straightforward: This post is going to be rather long, as I’m still trying to find a happy medium between short little headcanons and thirty page essays content wise. I apologize in advance.

You may recognize this story if you've read the YA novela "The Prince of Mist" by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. This poem is written about Roland in the perspective of Alicia Carver, the sister of the main character. Highly recommend reading this book if you're into light horror/mystery.

Issue #5: Jalroa Walks Free

Maria and Dr Cross step out of the elevator into a place Maria knows, at least by reputation, pretty well: the snow-crystal dimension, where Maria's people go to focus their minds and enhance their natural superpowers. Dr Cross is alarmed, but also wonderstruck, and the two of them have a heart-to-heart as they explore deeper into the dimension to see how and whether they can get back home. It does involve rather a lot of Dr Cross telling Maria what she thinks of the reckless thing they've done.

Meanwhile, in the basement of Carver House, Jamina is reckoning with the Owl-nature descending on her consciousness and integrating with her suit's systems. The transition is a rough one, and Alicia has more to deal with at that moment: as chaos unfolds around, as every imprisoned extradimensional being makes a break for it, one locks eyes with Alicia. A nondescript grey man, the sort of person to just blend into a crowd. It breathes out and pauses time. Even the Owl integration pauses, as the grey man walks up to Alicia, leans over, and whispers in her ear: "Thank you."

It then moves just past the two of them, as they stand there frozen, and they can hear the sounds of it consuming one of the other extradimensional entities, whole. It passes out of the basement and time resumes. They turn to see the red mist where some being once stood.

When Maria argues to Dr Cross that imprisoning everyone she meets in the Carver House basement isn't very ethical, Dr Cross makes an appeal to the danger posed by at least some of them, such as the monster Jalroa. A beast similar to Ring, which exists half-outside any reality it walks through, and therefore able to manipulate time, memory, and to move and act with superhuman speed, strength, and durability.

Alicia and Jamina confirm that the basements are empty, and that Jalroa has gone. They decide to look up Dr Infinity, the founder of InfiniTech, whose life Jamina once saved, for help dealing with this. Meanwhile, Dr Cross and Maria grab some snow-crystals, to augment their powers, and with the help of Maria's cousin Luminous Blossom, they get back to their original dimension. Luminous Blossom expresses real horror at the idea of opening a portal for them back to where Jalroa is, though; it has consumed whole realities before.

Dr Cross and Maria appear right at the InfiniTech gates as Alicia and Jamina do, and the whole group goes in to meet with Dr Infinity. A tall, regal secretary-bird-person from another planet, Dr Infinity is happy to see them, though she has cooler feelings towards Dr Cross. When they lay out the problem, she suggests that she can build a device that will expel all extradimensionals from Halcyon City, but the team decide that's a bad idea; at the least, it would also hit Maria.

Dr Cross lets loose on Jamina, telling her that she doesn't deserve to be the Owl, and doesn't know the burden she's taking on. Jamina stands up to her, with the backing of her friends and Dr Infinity. Dr Cross storms out, snow-crystal and sorcerous powers still intact.

The team decide that they need to lure Jalroa to them with extradimensional bait, and that that will either be the ooze in the coleslaw bucket, or Maria.

Will Dr Cross mess up their plans? Will Lucky's luck strike again? Will Jalroa prove too strong? And will Cú Chulainn finally show up? Find out next time!

Homosassa

Nestled in heavy forest between US 19 and the Gulf of Mexico is a magical area of Citrus County: Old Homosassa. Watered by several spring fed rivers, Citrus County residents enjoy the area's great natural beauty, small town charm and myriad of outdoor activities. It was a destination for wealthy and prominent Americans such as Grover Cleveland, Thomas Edison, John Jacob Astor and Winslow Homer. General resorts, B & Bs and RV parks make Old Homosassa a fun and easy weekend getaway for NatureCoasters™. Not only are the land and sea beautiful and bountiful, but the people are also friendly and accomodating. There is great food, from pressed Cubans to fresh locally caught seafood, all-you-can-eat crab and Cajun delights at reasonable prices. Several talented artists reside here, creating and selling their wares in quaint "cracker" homes converted to gift shops,  studios and resort lobbies. Alicia Lowe is a local artist who crafts nature-based items for sale in Old Homosassa. From the last part of June to the last partof September each year, you can go "scalloping" with a charter and hunt for these tasty morsels with a snorkel mask and a bag for your bounty. For a small admission ($13) you will be treated to a boat ride down the river (canceled during COVID-19 precautions - check with the Park for current information), see manatees and a vortex of thousands of native Florida fish, bobcats, panthers, alligators, snakes, river otters and birds, birds, birds - including American Bald Eagles. the first character i ever fell in love with: way back when, when I watched some episodes of season 3 with a friend, it was Ruby in 3x01-3x02. I was intrigued by her and then she was revealed to be a demon and I went 😍😍😍

a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: tbh with this character isn't as easy as stopping loving/being interested in them lmao (especially since my head is in multiple seasons simultaneously, between rewatching to make gifsets, or writing fic set in older seasons, etc. So, I really hate late seasons Dean, but I think of other times and am just as interested as I was initially. I can’t stand Sam after he got Jack trapped in the box, but I write about s4 Sam and adore him. Etc. etc.). I'm gonna say Crowley, who just was never as good as he was in season 5 IMO.

a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: not really given my mixed feelings, but I will always say Destiel got worse with Carver's, then Dabb's era lmao. It peaked in s6 afaic tbh. Sastiel also gets worse in the last batch of episodes, sns (first putting Jack in the box, then the attitude towards Castiel in early season 15... smh).

my ultimate favorite character™: Castiel, tragically xD. Bela and Ruby are also on Stanning Levels, especially the more I write about them.

prettiest character: there were sooooooo many pretty women in this show... but you all know Rowena is at the top for me LOL. Before her it was Meg 2.0, who has one of the prettiest faces I've ever seen.

my most hated character: Dean, although again, It's Complicated xD

my OTP: Megstiel.

my NOTP: John/Mary. Fuck cupids.

favorite episode: The Man Who Would Be King is the first that comes to mind. 4x16 or 5x10 are strong contenders too.

saddest death: *lists every beloved female character evah*. Bela and Meg's are very very sad, while Ruby's mostly annoyed me because of the wasted potential, for example.

favorite season: I am obligated to say season 3 because it had Bela AND Ruby (plus the plot with Dean's slow death is really, really good). The misogyny jumped out even more than usual in it though ¬¬

least favorite season: season 14. I had to implement a reward system to myself to get me to finish it lmao.

character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate: Dean is the one I get as far as hate (also love. Again, complicated). Although I must say there are a lot of fandom darlings I'm either indifferent to or even loathe. For indifferent, see Charlie or Benny. For loathing, see Victor Henriksen, who was misogynist AND tried to pressure Dean and Sam's lawyer to break privilege ¬¬. The fact that this fandom calls him cinnamon roll is proof that some people just want ~progressive fandom points without actually paying attention to the writing rme.

the first character i ever fell in love with: it’s been a long time but it was likely Wynonna. I think it was on the pilot, when she was completely disarmed when Dolls talked about demons like it was nothing after all she’d gone through (up to institutionalization) whenever she talked about it. I Felt That.

prettiest character: Rosita is pretty but MY GOD did the styling department did its best to hide that lmao. Waverly was gorgeous too. And Wynonna was hot.

my most hated character: I didn’t hate him, but tbh I never cared for Doc. I could tell he was getting more and more space and that was part of why I dropped the show: I just wasn’t interested in that.
