Here is a interesting thing about a knee jerk reaction that I had while watching Lightyear (2022) yesterday.

Spoilers ahead:

When Buzz comes back from his first 4 minutes for him/4 years for everything else flight and he finds out that his friend Alisha has a fiancé now I Swear to you I was expecting the lines to be :

Buzz: That’s wonderful! What’s his name?

Alisha, smiling : Her name is Kiko.

But instead the lines went:

Buzz: that’s wonderful! What’s her name?

Alisha, smiling: Oh, her name is Kiko

And in hindsight of course he would ask “what’s her name?” Buzz and Alisha have been friends since the academy why the hell wouldn’t he know she is a lesbian???

But I think I’m so used to the “assume it’s a he before proven wrong” style lines that my brain was just… expecting it.

I was never happier to be wrong.

But for real, people...I did NOT see that coming. That movie was pretty dark for a origin story about a little toy spaceman from the Toy Story franchise. And that’s exactly what I loved about it. On top of that, the animation style, colours and overall scenery were amazing. I want to see more like this from Pixar in the future and regardless what everyone else might think, I LOVE the movie! And human Buzz is kinda cute X3

No, I don’t ship those two. I just adore their relationship. Too bad we only got so few of it T___T

Okay, I'm gonna say it:

Alisha Hawthorne from Lightyear is a very good potrayal of a lesbian character. I like her and I think they did a good job with her. It was a good movie and they did a good job with her.

screaming crying tearing off the yellow wallpaper many thoughts about the concept of buzz leaving an orange tabby cat back on earth and that's why alisha took the time and energy to build a robotic one from scratch bc buzz had had socks from the time he was a kitten and he and that cat were inseparable so if he can't be home she can create a little piece of home for him

I find it funny how people try to argue that the queer rep in Lightyear was bad bc "It's supposed to be made in 1995 that's not accurate to how it was back then!!"

Bro, in a universe where TOYS ARE SENTIENT, you rly believe that a lesbian in a movie is that unrealistic??
