SUMMER WARDROBE CHALLENGE
Spending most of his time outdoors, Jason's style is best described as comfortable and casual. He doesn't often wear 'nice' clothes, and most of the things he does wear are thrifted or purchased through second hand sources when he does need to dress up. He likes a lot of light, breathable fabrics, sturdy shoes when he's out and about. But he still manages to put it together well enough to look good.
Tumblr media
SWIM / BEACH WEAR -- basic, easy, done. Jason is a trunks guy, pairing them with flip flops, a water resistant watch and sunglasses, and that's about it. He's going to be in the water, he doesn't need much else than that.
Tumblr media
A CASUAL SUNNY DAY -- Jason in his element. cargo shorts and a henley, paired with boots and a belt, good watch. he'll sometimes swap it out for a plain t-shirt, or a pair of jeans, but there's not a lot of variation when it comes to the vibe.
Tumblr media
A SUMMER NIGHT OUT -- about as 'nice' as it gets for Jason is dark jeans and a jacket. he'll trade in the boots for a pair of white sneakers, but he really isn't much of a fashion guy; it's still comfortable and cool all the way around.

I’d like to think all the other teachers at Aguefort hate Bobby Dawn’s ass immediately.
Porter is giving him death glares in the staff room. Tiberia doesn’t even acknowledge him whenever he’s in her line of sight. Lucilla, who is usually so kind, gives him side eyes in the hall, cuz bard classes are so gay and he’s homophobic. Jace avoids talking to him at all costs despite technically being the only person Bobby can go to for questions about the job. Henry seems more timid but even he is clearly upset at at this man’s general existence. And those are the ones who aren’t even openly hostile.
Zara only does night classes but whenever she does sees him she hisses. No one’s ever seen Terpsichore angry, but they have now. He made some of the younger queer students cry and Jawbone yells at him in full view of the student body. Corsica is so so close to beating this man up. They all miss Yolanda

jace being the first one to jump to call valyrian exceptionalism a farce ties so well into his bastard identity and the fact that he’s had to baldly lie about himself for his entire life to fit the image of the perfect heir…. like of course he would understand that better than anyone. people have died to protect that lie, his lie! rhaenyra telling him this garbled incoherent nonsense prophecy like it changes anything about what they’re doing or why they’re doing it. little normcore guy in targ family hell beating down his bad rebellious thoughts with a hammer every morning trying to reconvince himself of the lie, of the idea he could be the perfect shining promised prince but he knows something is Wrong. a totally mundane trivial death at the centre of the spiral. quentyn voice i must be the hero the hero never dies.

hot take maybe but the only reason most show runners/producers/writers/etc. age up the (female) characters from book to show adaptation is to overtly sexualize them and not face mass amounts of scrutiny for it.
put 13 year old daenerys next to 30 year old drogo and the audience understands that daenerys is a victim to him and not an equal. put 22 year old emilia clarke as daenerys next to 32 year old jason mamoa as drogo and they’re seen as a budding romance with a tragic ending (by the general audience) due to their on screen chemistry.
flash forward to today, and now we’re dealing with 21 year old milly alcock playing rhaenyra from 14-19 and how her relationship with (28 year old fabien) a mid twenties criston is seen as -morally acceptable- and not a result of a degenerate pedophile taking advantage of and grooming his charge. “ser criston protects the princess from her enemies, but who protects the princess from ser criston?” rhaenyra was 14 when rumors started speculating that she slept with an almost 30 year old criston. a criston who had know her since she was 8 and had been her sworn shield since she was 9. obviously seeing a teenager in the early stages of puberty next to a fully grown man would emphasize rhaenyra being THE victim, as opposed to the show having an 18-19 year old explore her sexuality and seek out ‘consensual’ sex with her peer bodyguard. the discourse has even reached the point where certain stans try to paint the much younger woman as the perpetrator and aggressor of this event, who forced the unassuming man into having sex with her.
i’ll even take this a step farther, and bring up how if they had shown a 19 year old alicent abusing a 10 year old rhaenyra it would be identified and mutually agreed upon as a reprehensible act on alicent’s part. instead they’re of similar age, so people can attempt to paint the picture as two women of equal standing hating each other, and not a much older woman bullying a motherless child. once again however, some stans even go so far as to try and paint alicent as a victim of rhaenyra, and not the other way around. further cementing this is how both versions of alicent are younger than both versions of rhaenyra, AND how criston is still played by an actor who is younger than older!rhaenyra despite his character being the same age as daemon in canon.
they know exactly what they’re doing too, considering they aged alicent down to give her that innate compassion one typically feels when seeing children being abused on tv (something that can no longer be applied to rhaenyra). despite that never being her story; *she* was the abuser, and rhaenyra was her victim. criston’s victim. it’s a nasty cop out, and i wish more people would call out how sickening it is to flip the switch and attempt to make abusive individuals more sympathetic than the *actual* victims of said abusers.

i hope bucky's adventuring party mirrors all the good aspects of the bad kids. like not necessarily copying class for class like the rat grinders but the vibe is still there
i hope they're on their own adventure right now. solving a mystery and sneaking around and forming unbreakable bonds that will help them through the stress of high school.
I hope the bad kids run into bucky's adventuring party when their mysteries overlap and Bucky just begs Kristen not to tell their parents.

Place of birth: Merrock, Maine.
Current location: Merrock, Maine.

Build/body type: athletic, toned.
Hair color: blonde.
Hair style: Either worn shoulder-length, pulled back in a bun/tail, or trimmed short.
Eye color: Blue-green.
Distinguishing facial features: freckles in the summer.
Skin tone: white; lightly tanned in the summer.
Scars: has many scars on his arms and legs from his time in the service (especially his left knee), a large scar on the back of his neck / left ear, as well as working in the parks most of his adult life. a few on his face, also.
Birthmarks: several.
Piercings: no piercings.
Tattoos: a compass on the back of his left calf, pine tree on the outside of his right wrist, mountainscape with trees, animals and moon on his upper/mid back, and a Smokey Bear tattoo on his upper right thigh.
Physical handicaps: suffers from tinnitus, has dealt with knee pain on and off most of his life from shrapnel removal in the army.
Fashion: very basic white boy stuff -- khaki/cargo shorts/pants, henley shirts, work boots or hiking shoes. when he dresses up, it's a basic black suit. but he manages to make it look good.
PERSONALITY STUFF
One word to describe positively: adventurous.
One word to describe negatively: guarded.
Introverted or extroverted: introverted.
Favorite (or overused) phrases: "roger."
Optimist or pessimist: somewhere in between.
Describe their sense of humor: very dry, but definitely funny. He's the kind of person that makes you laugh, but it surprises the hell out of you, first.
How do they display affection?: Jason isn't really used to affection, hugging is still new to him, and touching in general (unless someone he is intimate with) feels awkward. he'd be more likely to display affection by giving someone a bouquet of flowers.
How do they see themselves?: like a lumberjack that doesn't actually cut down any trees, truth be told. Jason sees himself as a good natured human being who only wants good for the world around him, regardless of what that means. but Jason also sees the physical and mental scars of what he's been through.
How do they want to be seen by others?: hopefully the same way he sees himself, but without the scars.
What would they change about themselves and why?: for as much as he has been through in his life, Jason isn't sure that there's much that he would change about himself. he's confident in his own skin, and genuinely does like himself.
PERSONALITY II
Are they competitive?: he is; he grew up very competitive, but in a negative way. if he couldn't win, he'd give up. now, he at least knows not to be sore loser and to try to be gracious.
Do they rush to conclusions?: not anymore, he's spent plenty of time and money on therapy to learn not to rush to conclusions, and to think things through carefully.
Do they take time out to think about actions and consequences?: yes. most of the time, anyway, he genuinely does try to use his brain when he has the opportunity!
How do they react to praise?: deflection, through and through. Jason will give them a compliment back and try to focus on something good that they did, or how great they look, instead.
To criticism?: taking it under advisement and trying his best to learn from it... or letting it keep him up at night. he does have a tendency to dwell on things like that.
What is their greatest fear?: losing his sister and Rosalyn. it may have taken moving back to Merrock for Jason to realize how much he had missed having family, and just how much Cordelia's presence in his life mattered to him, but he knows that he would do absolutely anything to not lose that.
What are their biggest secrets?: Jason doesn't really have secrets. he has things that he doesn't talk about, like his time overseas (he does talk, but not frequently, and only once he really trusts someone), but he doesn't really keep secrets, per se.
What is their philosophy of life?: to just live life -- to not let anything hold you back, and to follow your own heart.
When was the last time they cried?: leaving his job in Yellowstone, the day that they threw him his 'going away' party and his co-workers all snatched him up in a group hug.
Do they cry openly/in front of others?: no, not at all. it has to be a really emotional moment, and someone he trusts and loves to really be open and vulnerable in front of them.
PERSONALITY III
What haunts them?: war, and everything that goes with it.
What will they stand up for?: Jason is very passionate about mental health for veterans, and making sure that they are taken care of after they leave the service. environmental rights are important to him, too; issues like climate change and taking care of farmers. anything to do with the earth.
Are they indoorsy or outdoorsy?: outdoorsy.
Night owl or morning lark?: bit of both, but morning if he had to choose between the two.
What sense do they most rely on?: probably sight most of the time, but scent when he's firefighting.
How do they treat others?: with respect. although Jason tries to be nice, he knows that he has his off days. but he would never let that push him to treat someone with disrespect.
What quality do they most value in a friend?: understanding; Jason is not always a bubbly, happy, fun person. he can be! but he has days where he just wants to sit in the woods and think. or not think. and having friends who respect that and take long hikes with him, or just spend time sitting by the lake always win him over.
What do they consider an overrated virtue?: temperance.
What are their views on religion?: on a good day, Jason believes that there is something out there. he prays in times of need, but most of his belief is that you get what you give: he tries to put as much good into the world as possible, not just to get some back, but because that's how things should be.
What are their views on politics?: having served in the army, Jason feels like he has a unique view and understanding on politics that people really only pick up in that same position. he is a registered democrat, but mostly only votes in local elections, where he feels he is making a difference on a level that impacts him. he also is an issue voter, and will vote if something that matters to him is at stake, every time.
What are their views on sex?: have as much or as little as you want. it's really no one's business but your own, and the people you choose to sleep with. as long as you are old enough to make the decision for yourself (and within the law), then have fun. and absolutely do not be shitty to someone, or force someone to feel bad if they aren't into it.
PERSONALITY IV
Under what circumstances would they be able to kill someone?: now, absolutely none. Jason cannot imagine a worse feeling than knowing that you are responsible for ending someone's life.
Do they prefer routine or spontaneity?: routine, although he is slowly staring to find the joy in taking things day by day, and trying to have more unplanned fun in his day.
Describe their pet peeves: people disrespecting nature; garbage left on the roadside, fires left burning, wild life harmed for no reason, a general lack of understanding about how important the ecosystem is.
When did they last lie and what’s their view of lying?: for the most part, Jason doesn't lie. life is too short for half truths or outright deception. he may sugar coat things or be vague about topics he doesn't want to talk about, though.
When did they last make a promise and do they keep promises?: promises sort of go hand in hand with lying. why say something if you don't mean it or don't intend on following through with something? he probably promised to do something at work, and he always does.
Are they more of a leader or a follower?: somewhere in between. he has no problem leading or following when the situation calls for it.
Do they like being around large groups of people? Why or why not?: no, definitely not. loud spaces are generally a no for Jason; they're hell on his tinnitus. but he's definitely better on on one, or in a small group o people than he is in a large group. even worse if it's a tight space with a lot of people.
What are their views on social media?: he uses it primarily to get back into the swing of having a social life, but he honestly isn't into it very much.
Have they ever been bullied?: no, not really.
Have they ever been the bully?: while he wouldn't consider himself a traditional bully, he definitely could be a bit of a brat growing up, and picked on people.
FRIENDS & FAMILY
How big is their immediate family?: the Browning family is intermediate in size; father, mother, and a few siblings. but Jason only currently has a relationship with his younger sister.
How about their extended family?: that's a little bit bigger! like most local families, they have aunts, uncles, cousins, and people that they're half-related to through marriage. the curse and blessing of living in a small town.
Who is their family?: for Jason, his family is Cordelia and Rosalyn, his sister and niece. that's all he needs.
Do they have siblings? Older or younger?: yes, Jason has a younger sister named Cordelia, and a couple of other siblings that he doesn't have a relationship with at the moment.
Do they get along with the parents and siblings?: the last time that Jason really had a relationship with his parents, he was a kid, a teenager. when he left Merrock to join the military, he didn't really stay in touch, past a postcard here and there. his father expressed disappointment in his choice to not reenlist, and his mother took his side, so he cut them off. Cordelia, though, Jason loves. he feels protective over her, while also proud of who she has become. they're getting to know each other all over again, as adults.
Describe their parents: Jason doesn't have a relationship with his parents and honestly doesn't know a lot about them in the present. he had a decent relationship with his father when he was younger; he would attend his games and matches, but whenever Jason lost interest, so did his dad. his mother is all about style and appearance, always wanting her family to look perfect, from the inside out.
Describe their best friend: at this point in his life, Jason doesn't really believe that he has a best friend. he's still getting to know all of his old (and new) friends.
Describe their attitude towards family: for a long time, he had himself convinced that he didn't need or want family in his life, that there was nothing that they could offer that he didn't already have. that has, of course, changed now that he has a relationship with his sister again, and he's realized how much he has missed her. he isn't sure that anything could make him give it up, now.
Describe their friend group as a whole: some of Jason's friends are from childhood, his teen years, people he has reconnected with since coming back to Merrock. others are people that he has just met for the first time. there really is no description for them, since... they're all different in their own way.
Is there anything that stands out in their family’s history?: the Browning family was one of the founding families in Merrock, which is something that was drilled into Jason from a young age. he does think it's kind of cool, if nothing else. other than that, not really.
Do they have children? What are the circumstances surrounding them?: no children.
Do they want children? Why?: at this point in his life, no. Jason's forty years old and isn't sure that he has the kind of life skills that one needs to raise a child. not to mention the fact that he isn't sure it's the kind of world he would want to raise a child in. he isn't even sure he could handle a dog at the moment.
Do they currently live with anyone?: no.
Do they have pets?: no.
LIFE THINGS
Describe their home: Jason lives in a 1978 Argosy Travel Trailer that he bought after returning from service and worked at restoring on the road. it's been a labor of love, but it feels like home to him. small, it only really has one living area (consisting of a kitchen, small seating area and dinging/sleeping area), but it has everything that he needs to get by.
Are they a minimalist or is their house cluttered?: minimalist, through and through. living in such tight quarters, he feels like he has to be, or else he might be suffocated.
What are their eating habits?: very healthy; he has an incredibly balanced diet, and doesn't eat a ton of sweets or overly processed foods, mostly relying on things that he buys at the farmer's market or grows out of his own garden.
Are they allergic to anything?: nope.
What is the first thing they do in the morning?: even before brushing his teeth and using the bathroom, Jason makes and folds up his bed. it's something that was drilled into him since his military days, and it helps him get motivated to start his day, since he can't get back into bed.
What is the last thing they do at night?: normally, he spends a little bit of time outside, maybe drinking a cup of tea, or reading a book by the firelight. once it gets cold, he does the same, but with a jacket. (or he stays inside.)
What do they do on a Sunday afternoon?: most often, Sundays are one of his days off, so he will do something for himself. visit family, go to the beach, catch up on grocery shopping. occasionally, he does volunteer to work to lead nature hikes, or run a program, though.
What do they do on a Friday night?: head over to Tumbleweed to have a beer, or spend some time at the firehouse, if he's looking for something to do.
Describe their workout routine: while Jace is in very good shape, he doesn't honestly work out much these days. he instead gets his exercise simply by being out and doing things. he does run, at least a few times a week, and takes yoga and pilates classes, which he thinks helps him out in a number of ways.
How good are they at taking care of themselves?: very. not to sound like a sad sac, but since he turned 18 and left town, Jason has only really ever had himself to rely on, which means he's gotten good at taking care of number one.
What kind of car do they drive?: a 2000 green Jeep Grand Cherokee. he isn't super into cars, other than liking the way that they look at car shows.
Do they have any other modes of transportation?: Jason has a mountain bike, but otherwise no. he does drive a ranger truck when he's working at the park.
THE PAST & THE FUTURE
What was your character like as a child?: a mostly good kid, but he could be a little rebellious. he was very protective over Cordelia, and loved to get dirty, often spending time making mud pies and digging out back, which led to his love of gardening, too.
As a teenager?: a little more rebellious. Jason continued his love of getting dirty and playing in the mud, but it was cultivated into playing every sport possible, and also still gardening. he was good at getting his way with a flirtatious smile or wink, and very much so coming into his own. he dated all the cute girls and flirted with some of the cute guys, and felt like he ruled the school. (he didn't, but.)
As a young adult?: young adulthood was tough on Jason. had he not entered the military, he feels like he might have had it even rougher -- instead of becoming trouble, and unhinged, he became disciplined, learned to listen to instruction and, not to sound cliché, be all that he could be. but it also changed him a lot. it made him really realize what life was about. and what fear was like.
What is their earliest memory?: Jason's probably been concussed one too many times to have a cohesive memory the way he should, but... he does very clearly remember holding Cordelia for the first time when his parents came home from the hospital.
What is their best childhood memory?: one time, Jason was allowed to enter a pumpkin that he grew into a contest at Creek Fest, and won a blue ribbon. he was only a pre-teen, and remembers it being the coolest feeling in the world at the time.
What is their worst childhood memory?: absolutely any time that his father told him not to waste his time on things that weren't "important," but actually meant a lot to him.
What did they want to be when they grew up?: he hadn't really thought that far ahead; Jason wasn't honestly one of those people who had a plan, he had just been living to live. and then when he entered the military, he had felt even more lost when it came to what he was supposed to do and why. a part of him thought he would always just be a gentleman farmer.
Did they grow up rich or poor?: the Brownings were pretty well off; maybe not rich, but definitely nor poor. image meant (and still means) a lot to his mother, so there were no expenses spared when it came to looking good, and getting themselves out there. but it wasn't as though they were driving brand new cars at sixteen or taking lavish vacations every summer, either. they were just taken care of pretty well by their parents. back then, anyway.
Did they grow up nurtured or neglected?: the kind of nurtured that doesn't really help a person grow, per se. smothered at times, in an effort to make them 'do good,' and neglected in the sense of not getting to do the things that he wanted to do.
Were they popular growing up?: yes, quite. he had a lot of friends, dated a lot of girls, made out with a few guys, he did well for himself.
What is their greatest achievement?: surviving. Jason's well aware of how many people who fought what he fought didn't survive, and he's proud of himself for getting through that, even if there's always some survivor's guilt in the back of his mind.
What is the worst thing they did to someone they loved?: not returning to Cordelia after his enlistment, and getting her the hell out of Merrock, somewhere where she could be free.
What is the best thing they did to someone they loved?: as much as it pains him to think it, because of what he thinks is the worst thing he's done, also not coming home. he was not in a good head space and is afraid of who he would have been towards the people he loved.
Who had a great influence on them? Who shaped them as a person?: the first park ranger that he worked under out in Yellowstone; they taught him almost everything he needed to know about the job.
What are their plans for the future?: he doesn't have any plans for the future, truth be told. Jason just wants to live in his camper until it's no longer feasible, build himself a little log cabin, grow another prize winning pumpkin, be a good uncle to his niece, and be happy.
What advice would they give their younger self?: don't run away.
What smells remind them of their childhood?: the bottle of cologne that he stole from his father when he wanted to ask his childhood crush out on a date.
When was the last time they were crushed with disappointment?: opening the last postcard from his father and realizing that he was disappointed in him for not reenlisting, and deciding to stay overseas to see things through.
What past act are they most ashamed of?: again, leaving his family without letting them know that he was okay.
Most proud of?: turning his life around. he wouldn't say that he was on a 'dark path' per se, but he knows that he's in a much better place now than he was when he first got out.
Has anyone ever saved their life?: countless times. his brothers in arms always, always had his back.
Have they ever saved someone else’s life?: yes. same as above, there were a lot of times when Jason stepped in to help a solider out.
LOVE & ROMANCE
What is your character’s sexuality?: Jason is bisexual.
Do they believe in love at first sight?: not really, no. Jason isn't sure what he thinks about love; he's never been in it, but he isn't callous or jaded enough to believe that it doesn't exist, either.
Are they in a relationship?: no.
How do they behave in relationships?: it has been a long time since he's been in a relationship. he dated a girl back in his college years, and he was in a situationship with a man for a while, on and off, and he's had a few flings and one night stands, but he hasn't been in enough relationships to really know how he acts. it would probably all depend on the person he's with.
Has your character ever been in love?: no.
Have they ever broken someone’s heart?: no, not to his knowledge, at least not in a romantic way.
Have they ever had their heart broken?: no.
What do they look for in a potential lover or partner?: someone to be his equal, and someone who shares interests. a person who likes to go for long hikes or sit on the beach, who doesn't mind spending more time outdoors than indoors. someone who isn't necessarily looking for the traditional stuff, doesn't mind a good sex life, and is okay with just taking things day at a time.
What are their views on marriage?: at this point, he doesn't necessarily think marriage is for him, but he also is open to changing his mind if the right person came along. no church weddings.
What is their idea of romance?: stargazing. plain and simple. someone that you don't mind sitting alone in the dark with, pointing up to the sky to admire shapes and glistening lights.
What was their first relationship?: he had a girlfriend in high school that he was pretty into for a long time, until they decided to split up because high school was coming to an end for her (she was a year older) and she wanted to get out of Merrock.
What was their last relationship?: probably the aforementioned situationship that was a very loosely defined relationship with a guy that also worked at the park. if it had to be a relationship where he had a 'boyfriend' title, he would have to say college, with his girlfriend at the time, even if that wasn't the most serious relationship.
Best date they’ve ever been on?: a beautiful night on a fire escape with a bartender; they shared a bottle of wine and just talked most of the night, and the next morning, went on a week-long camping trip together, off grid.
Worst date they’ve ever been on?: right after graduation, when he moved back to the park area, his friends tired to convince him to get on a dating app... he reluctantly agreed, and the woman that he matched with spent the entire evening talking about herself and her recent trip to Paris with another man. he went home with the bartender that night.
When did you character last have sex?: oof, it has been a while, admittedly. definitely since before they moved back home.
What sort of sex do they have?: that fully depends on his partner and what they're into. Jason wouldn't say that he is vanilla, by any means, and he does like to have a little fun between the sheets, but he isn't the type of person to re-write the rule book, either. he's happy just making his partner happy.
Grand gestures or the little things?: little things. always.
CONFLICTY GOODNESS
How do they respond to threat or dangerous situations?: he's basically trained to respond to threats and dangerous situations. mostly, he handles it pretty well, but occasionally he does find himself in sticky situations where he wishes he would have had more time to think before reacting.
Are they most likely to fight with their fists or their words?: normally, his words, but if you catch him in the wrong sort of mood, he will definitely fight with fists.
What is your character’s kryptonite/weakness?: Cordelia and Rosalyn.
How do they perceive strangers?: carefully, but Jason tires not to let his past influence his every decision and action. he might approach with caution, but he isn't afraid of making new friends.
Do they have phobias? Of what?: not really a phobia, but loud noises bother him, both from PTSD, and also because he struggles with tinnitus.

“Did you think that I would have black hair?” dear god I absolutely loved this scene. Jace knowing full well that he’s a bastard and that if any old bastard can claim a dragon, then what does that make him? So so so good.

Racism and misogynoir are so apparent in fandom, especially when it comes to shipping because why is it when a white male, sometimes female but I see it more with the former, character is on screen with a love interest, particularly woc, especially if they're black, and even with all the emotional scenes or just moments where they look at one another in ways different from the rest, it's met with "No, they aren't dating/the show is not going to put them together" but let the other love interest be white as well and suddenly it all makes sense? Heck, the examples I mentioned above don't even have to exist between the latter for some to STILL go and believe this rhetoric (eg. some Jace and Helaena shippers because, even if these two only interacted with a dance but yet we see Baela console Jace, after he seeks her out, apparently it's to far fetched to believe that Jacela could be a thing?!)
Sometimes it could be a headcanon that, largely, would make sense (and oftentimes was birth due to lack of respect that the poc characters could have been given by the writers *cough* TVD *cough*), and yet you'd still have people dismissing it left and right and spewing hate. At a HEADCANON! And I'm not saying that just because the other person in the ship is poc that you have to ship them, I'm not, but it's very apparent to many poc fans in fandom that unless the characters are swapping spit and doing the nasty, the possibility of them being viewed in any romantic lens feels too much of stretch even though their white counterparts don't have to jump through the same loops.
#fandom racism#and even if the characters are already together in some way you still have some in the fandom picking a part every little thing#and don't let it be a love triangle either bc even tho the main consensus is supposed to be rooting for one side#if the other happens to be poc you can BET that their will be racial undertones from the fandom used as “justification”#(mark/amber/eve even tho mark is half korean but even with that some fans still viewed him as white and used that even more to hate on amber#and use a lot of misogynior) i remember those dark days in that fandom#from the early days until the ends of the westallen to jacela its so apparent especially when the love interest is black#and its not only jace/helaena shipprs that do this but cregan/sara shippers as well#and this is coming from someone who doesn't even mind jacelaena (prefers jace/hel/baela tho)#dont even get me started on the star wars fandom & how the idea of finn and rey was too out there l#and how much racism finn & john boyega had to deal with as a result#and i just know the same will happen with percy & annabeth when rachel is added (as someone who ships all three of them too)#like you can ship whomever you want but at the same time don't ignore/be apart of this racist and hateful rhetoric#jacela#sydcarmy#percabeth#westallen#bc its the way that this can be applied to SO MANY fandoms and ships that it's exhausting#finnrey#bamon#klonnie#kennett#tvd#pjo#star wars#hotd#the flash#for queer stories too bc ill never forget how some acted about dare me even tho the afro latina character was literally being groomed!#so many examples to many to name 😭#stefonnie

I think the most impressive thing about the house of the dragon is that the teenagers actually feel like teenagers. Like i've met these kids at school before

I know most of the DBDA fandom probably thinks at paineland at the trope of "x fell first, xx fell harder" is Edwin falling first and Charles now falling harder; because Edwin was obviously shown first to express his feelings.
But consider this-
Charles falling in love with Edwin slowly a little more every day, falling a bit deeper for him every day they spent side by side.
And at some point later- Edwin is crushing hard. Realizing "oh shit, I love him-" and falling hard in a chaotic storm of feeling he doesn't know how to deal with, he's a complete mess.
Idk, I personally prefer the second version more but both options can be great interpretations of their dynamic.
