posting on three diff websites is actual hell and i dont even have a system. its not oh twitter is only for my doodles instagram is for polished stuff and tumblr is for long comics nope theres literally no logic to it besides whatever site im vibing with. which is fine but also its actual hell to remember what i have posted where, if i should even bother posting it, and ive long since given up keeping track oughhh i hate posting

Izutsumi character study

#dungeon meshi #izutsumi #One of my goals for this year was to spend more time doing art studies.#What better way to start than with my favourite danmeshi character (not seen: a whole page of figuring out her features)#I feel like she is by far one of the most poorly understood characters in the series. Partially due to her 'late party member' status.#'She's abrasive and mean' - 'she's a picky eater' - 'she's a catgirl who acts like an asshole cat ' YES and that is the point!#Everyone in dungeon meshi is traumatized and messy about it but izutsumi is just less polite in how she tries to cope.#Izutsumi is a extremely traumatized teenager who has utterly lacked autonomy her entire life.#She is the epitome of a “If I can just have X thing then all my problems will be solved!” character. And the X is 'Freedom'.#Her epilogue was one of the best and wrapped up her character so wonderfully (WARNING: I WILL NOW SPOIL PART OF THE ENDING)#Because she finally gets her freedom! She can go where she wants to and she doesn't need anybody! Yet...it doesn't fix her.#She is so focused on doing only what she wants that she forgets her own needs. Sometimes you have to eat the things you don't want.#And sometimes you have to face the hard truths that you need more than just one thing to make you happy.#Life is not all about only seeking pleasures and avoiding pain. You need to be balanced in order to grow.#Eat your vegetables (including the metaphorical ones: I am eating more art veggies this year by doing art studies!!!)

look,,,, i think the bad kids are understandable for being as pissed as they are at kipperlilly copperkettle. but i'm on my 'it's all love now' bullshit so hear me out:

what the bad kids read about klck were files from therapy. Before she was coopted by literal deific rage, she was only talking about perceived unfairness and her jealousy of riz in therapy/counseling. that's literally where someone is supposed to work through their darkest, worst parts of themself. and she was only a kid.

i can relate to her, even. as a teen who had real bad mental health, i absolutely had moments where i coveted other people's trauma because i didn't feel that my life situation was bad enough to justify my mental illness being as unmanageable as it was. so i get it. i feel where klck is coming from. and again she wasn't preaching this on the street. she was sharing it, in confidence, with a counselor. she might have been bitching about it to her friends. but honestly? do i think that justifies hating her? nah not really.

and then, if theories so far are correct, jace stardiamond dug into her counseling files, invaded and violated her most personal, least flattering thoughts, and took advantage of them. fed her like a sacrificial lamb to a dead god of rage, used her and the god to twist each other into the worst versions of each other.

all i'm saying is: ankarna has been corrupted. through compassion and reuniting her with cassandra, maybe the bad kids can save her. kipperlilly has been corrupted. maybe through compassion and reuniting her with lucy, with her best friend and voice of reason, the bad kids can save her too.

i know we’ve all ragged on this scene but i really can’t get enough of ivypool openly admitting she shut down the patrol over dovewing and twigpaw’s immediately gotta look directly into the camera to say “remember kids! marrying outsiders is WRONG! ivypool didn’t totally fuck up here, she had good intentions so let’s not hold this against her! everything should be forgiven now :)”

#it sucks cause if they didnt include that id actually like this scene a lot #i like ivypool torpedoing her relationships over her own hangups. i like her causing conflict with it #but so many of her actions are immediately followed by the pov character going ‘’yes ivypool youre right ivypool’’#like the authors dont actually want to commit to her being complicated and messy #and like after all the exhausting stuff from book 3 i dont even think its weird that twigpaw isnt angry with her or anything #i can totally see her being tired and just feeling relieved it wasnt about her #its the tirade there about how actually ivy is right and you should agree with her intentions’’#avos liveread #and i can see ivypool apologizing earnestly when she realizes how bad she screwed up
