in honour of drawfee turning ten (!!!) here are ten reasons why you should watch drawfee

the art is incredible. i feel like that goes without saying for an art-based channel, but i am consistently impressed with how talented the hosts are.

these people are hilarious. pretty much every episode has at least one moment that makes me laugh out loud, which is no small feat. the jokes are just silly enough to be funny without being too much. or they are too much, which is just as entertaining.

all four hosts have great personalities that really shine. i like to say that each has their own flavour of chaos, which can really stand out both on its own and in combination with the others.

the four of them a really great dynamic. you can tell that they don't just spend time together because they have to. they have a genuine connection that one can only hope to find with a friend group.

the show has some great guests. from longtime friends of the show like willie and caldwell to newer folks like ralph and onsta. they've even had fans on the show before, such as deepblueink and nathan longs.

drawtectives. just drawtectives. the gang--especially julia--puts so much effort into making it an enjoyable series, and it's such a good time. it's definitely a commitment, with over twenty hours worth of episodes, but it is so worth it.

the fandom is probably the best i've ever been a part of. i've never seen much controversy in this fanbase, only positivity and a great sense of humour. the drawfee crew seems to like us, too. i hope they do, anyway.

speaking of the fandom, some of the best fan work in general i've ever seen have come from drawfee fans. from fanart to animations to edits to music, this fandom has some incredible creativity.

i talked about the humour, but i feel like i need to mention the recurring bits. i find myself laughing at everyday things like crabs and eggs because they remind me of some ridiculous drawfee bit.

this channel has been around for ten whole years now, and has continued to be incredible over all this time. i'm admittedly a newer fan, having discovered the show in early 2022, but i can recognise how much love and work has gone into this show. it's been a source of comfort for me and so many others, and i think that's a true accomplishment.

congratulations on ten years, drawfee crew. here's to many more.

I had a dream about drawfee

I just had a dream where I was at school and there was an assembly in the auditorium and I didn't know what it was for but we all walk in and I see the drawfees on stage. Like julia jacob nathan Karina. And I go and sit by my friends and also rosé was there somehow. And they like do the intro and in the dream I was thinking no ones gonna cheer no way anyone knows who they are but then the crowd like erupts with cheers when they start doing the intro and I was like really? Every time I talk about drawfee or drawtectives no one knows what it is. Anyways they pull down a projector and a show off an entire movie but I didn't see all of it in the dream just the beginning. The plot of the movie was they live in space with these two gophers and the thing is this movie didn't make sense in the dream and now it's kinda fuzzy but I'll try to explain anyways. The two gophers each have a gold coin and the coins can't touch or else they'll explode and send the gophers back to the moon or the sun because each gopher comes from either the sun or moon. But the drawfee crew now has to rescue their dear friends these two gophers. But Jacob just goes to the sun and grabs the coin from the gopher like it's no big deal I'm just on the sun he leaves his gopher friend whom he loves though he's like I'll be back for you and I'm sitting here like dude why didn't you grab your gopher friend that you care about so much. Meanwhile Julia go the coin from the moon gopher but she also did not grab the gopher. Then in the dream there was a time skip to after the movie somehow I was just hanging out backstage with the drawfee crew because reasons. And so we were talking about the movie and I'm like that's amazing because btw it was animated in like a Disney style like tangled or frozen or Luca it looked like that sorta thing. So anyways I was like that's literally amazing how did you do this was this just you guys? And Julia goes yeah it was just us working on it and Nathan goes now you know what we're doing in between uploads and I'm just sitting here like in shock at the fact that I'm sitting with the drawfee crew, at the fact I just watched their movie they never advertised on the channel, at the fact they made an entire animated film. And I just jokingly ask so when's drawtectives season three? Does York learn to read yet or... and then Julia jacob Nathan and Karina just look at eachother and they're all smiling and then I fucking wake up and the dreams over. Did the drawfee crew punch me in the face??? Huh??? Why did they all look at eachother like that??? Wtf??? Anyways that's the thing I had to say I dont apologise for the random long post Mabey I'll go back and fix all the typos there are in this. Maybe. Drawtective's Headcanon:

With how much everyone loves Eugene(audience, the Drawfee crew, AND the characters themselves) I'm so very eager to see how they add him to season three!

Like, I easily see him shadowing ALL of his parents.

Dog-walking with Gma(maybe even running into Harper and her new pupper from the one shot! I'm sure that'll be a fun day to tell the rest of the team over boba or sammies).

He's for sure fashionable enough to walk the catwalk with York! THEY CAN HAVE MATCHING OUTFITS!

But mostly, as he's brought on and will be qualified to be on the next case as a JUNIOR Drawtective, he's mostly an intern at the office doubling as Rosé's assistant!

I am very eager for next season, I can't wait for my found family to come back. And I can't wait to see what my baby boy's been up to in prep to join his parents on the next case!

Just remembered a fever dream (actual fever dream I had a stomach bug) I had about a year ago where I was Drawfee's intern, and instead of being a fun little art internet show, it was a reality-tv-ish show about arts and crafts (along the line of Making Fun) and the drawfee crew woke me up at three am and I only agreed to get up because they let me man the camera. All I remember was that I had to do all their dirty work and they put me in a giant vat of like paint or something.

For some reason, I loved it.

Regarding pitches for media involved in the tournament... I have one for Drawtectives! Strap in, it's a long one.

It's a series on Youtube from the Drawfee channel, and it's like. It's roleplaying + drawing. The plot and the NPCs were all done (and most voiced) by one member, Julia Lepetit, and the other three are player characters who must solve the mystery by talking to NPCs and doing drawing challenges. It's mostly goofy and fun bcs. Well. It's Drawfee, that's what they do.

So. The player characters! One, part of this tournament, is Gyorik Rogdul aka York, an arospec ace half-orc prince who loves arm wrestling and can't read and got turned into a model by chance; then, there's Grendan Highforge, aka Grenda/Gma/Grandma, the chill dog-walking dwarf druid who has a realization halfway in S1 and is officially genderfluid in S2 (any pronouns); and finally, Rosé the cool human rogue who can fit so many things in her pockets, (also she is unlabeled but has flirted with men and women). By the start of S2 they all have bonded much more closely and have a sort of ambiguous found family/queerplatonic polycule vibe and I love that for them!!

The NPCs! They are all so varied, and most have punny or silly Ace Attorney-esque names. A paladin named Sorin Justice and his wife Lotta Justice. A director named Anne Daction. A conductor named Conrad Uctor. S2 even has justification for the punny names! Which I am not going to spoil. Julia does a wonderful job with designing all of them and voicing most of them! And a few in S2 are voiced by fun guests like Elyse Willems, ProZD/SungWon Cho, and Caldwell Tanner (the OG Drawfather himself)!

The settings! Oh the settings, the background art! So lovingly created, so detailed and beautiful and fun. In S1, they were all parts of a fancy mansion-- a dining room, a library, a parlor lined with paintings and animal masks! S2 allows for more variety like a circus, a bar, even a jousting arena, and some of these have gorgeous posters made into IRL merch (currently sold out tho)!!

The drawing challenges! They're a staple part of Drawfee as a whole and hence they're a main feature here. Some are fun prompts like "draw a food creature" or "draw a steed to joust with", some are actual challenges like drawing (fantasy, knock off) celebrities based on description and drawing blindfolded guided by spoken directions. Since it's all in character, the usual Drawfee banter turns into nonsense lore and character interactions, and it's so, so much fun!!

Of course, the episodes average at about 50 minutes long, so... I get that it's tough to even start. But it's recommended (iirc by the crew themselves) that if you want a taste tester, go to S2 (Celestial Spear) episode 7. It's the one with SungWon in it, it can generally stand alone, and it's absolutely hilarious. (But it's also a dating sim parody plot, so your mileage might vary. I think it's fun tho)

So yeah. Try out Drawtectives (S3 in the works)! Thanks for being my captive audience, and I'm sorry! (for the long ramble, and also it's a Drawfee thing to end with sorry)

3 what’s one scene you always wanted to write but can’t be arsed to write all the setup and context it would need? I would love to write just some smutty smutty PWP of polygun all having fun with vash’s vine tentacles but I keep being hung up by my own inability to let go of canon characterization - the fact that those vines are incredibly traumatic to vash and I have such a hard time getting him in my mind to a place where he’d be okay with even manifesting them, much less railing three people at once with them. argh! it took me however many thousands of words of the VWL post-canon AU to get to a place where I think vash is fine with feathering out and having oops-accidentally-psychic sex with wolfwood and livio. do I have to do that with vash/wolfwood/meryl/milly also?? (maybe?? i’m not saying it’ll NEVER happen I’m just saying it makes me insane)

I also have a slew of AU ideas that I know would make great 100k+ epics but like, man, that’s work, that’s so hardddd whine whine whine

18 do any of your stories have alternative versions (abandoned plotlines, AUs of your own work, alternate characterizations)? again I can’t say anything about BB fic yet, though I will! probably in december I’ll make a roundup post of discards and trivia. and I don’t think I ever have alternate characterizations, because having a strong idea of the characterization through-line is usually where my fics start. but in both Trillium & Ivy and my bb fic I have thought to myself that it would be so fucking easy to make them polygun instead of vashwood. there’s a very noncanon-to-t&i wip of the wives and the bfs having a bi4bi4bi4bi weekend getaway, which… I’m gonna hold onto because there was a polygun event interest check recently and I do like the bones of this wip, it just needs a LOT of work, so. if there’s an event it might be just the thing, idk.

T&I has the most abandoned plotlines of probably anything I’ve ever written besides my old destiel AU. modern-setting AUs have so many potential ways to get sidelined, at least for me. probably the biggest thing is that according to the original outline, the final showdown was meant to take place in like a warehouse at some docks (why? what??), zazie was going to drive everyone there because elendira sent them to get her man back safely, the WHOLE crew was supposed to go (vash, nick, livio, meryl, milly, kaite, zazie) and there were going to be? whole gun fight scenes??

this is a blatant example of what is meant by “don’t be precious with your ideas” - I wrote several thousand words of outline and then looked at all of it and said what the fuck, time to put all of this in the garbage disposal and start over. don’t be precious = drawfee’s whole bit of “delete your art.” sometimes you gotta accept not even scavenging for bits to salvage, just burn it all.

the fic is MUCH better for it

22 do you reread your old works? how do you feel about them? I do! I love them! oh it’s the tea, for me, the tea for me, the tea specifically designed to kill me, etc etc! I drift off from rereading my own fics in older fandoms often because I’m just not rotating those blorbos in my head so hard anymore, but for finished fics in my current fandom, it’s like hey wow this author wrote a fic that will push every single one of my buttons with extreme precision, because this author lives in my head and is me, lol. also, when I get a review that mentions any specific thing, I have to go back and reread that bit to extract all the dopamine from seeing it through fresh eyes and imagining how the reader interpreted it or felt about it.

The reason that I love Lancer (setting aside the fact that humongous mecha are awesome) is the amazing lore and worldbuilding they've done. Here's an excerpt about a time shortly after humanity has finally started to pull itself together, after the end of the world:

"They found old telescopes, radio towers, and laser communication complexes preserved in deep ice on mountaintops and high places all over the world. They pointed them to the stars, turned them on, and waited.

"The first messages arrived almost immediately, and with them came the third great trauma: the voices of Old Humanity, thousands of years ancient and dead, carried on signals garbled by radiation, time, and distance, crying out to their home for help; lost souls that begged for aid, guidance, and their loved ones.

Things I love about the drawfee crew:

Jacob: best version of white male preset #3. takes razzing like a champ. genuinely really funny (oh hitman?? genius). art style is really cute and friend shaped. he comes up with character designs on the spot super well and they’re always creative and different. doesn’t speak down on his own art, points out his own mistakes but not in a mean way and expresses pride in himself when he does well!

Nathan: seems like he’d give really good hugs. his laugh is infectious. his creature arc is very good. super supportive of the other drawfee crew members. his puns give me life. his art is so fun and cool like its the kind of stuff every kid imagines and wishes they could draw. he has the Range and can draw like. everything

Karina: unabashedly loves the things she loves, says the things she wants to say, and just vibes. even when stuff might be considered “cringe” she still likes them and is open about it which i rly respect. I follow her here on tumblr so I know that her chaos is contained on drawfee. her one-liner delivery is unmatched (“are you speaking to me?”). her art style is super pretty and she also gives a lot of genuinely good show recs

Julia: somehow simultaneously the most responsible but also most chaotic member of drawfee. her jokes are always Such a reach and its funny how it takes everyone a second to understand them. drawtectives is actually god tier. she always seems like she never 100% knows whats happening which is relatable. shes always working on improving her art and experimenting with new stuff which I really respect

In conclusion I love them all and drawfee is my comfort show

My only knowledge of yu-gi-oh is through a YouTube channel called Drawfee because one of the crew has a love for yu-gi-oh and the other 3 also know stuff. So it's at least a little funny to me to see people kinning from it because all I can think about in reference to that is how the Drawfee crew will go "Oh Yug," a lot in their videos that reference yu-gi-oh

Random collection of YT channels, stuff for comfort/background watching

Here’s a list of a few entertaining/informative/interesting stuff that I’ve enjoyed a lot and come back to often to rewatch or have in the background when I draw or play games or feel a bit down and need something funny to distract me. Mostly about media analysis and commentary. Many of these are NSFW for language.

Drawfee - Four artists take turns drawing fun and weird stuff based on random prompts. Mostly for entertainment, sometimes they post drawing tips. Very wholesome and fun crew, it’s like a visual podcast, 10/10 would recommend. They also make Drawtectives, a mystery roleplaying campaign that involves drawing that’s very funny. You can pretty much look at their video library and pick out whichever video appeals to you and doesn’t include the word “more”, because that signifies a sequel video to a previous concept, but if you want, you can start with some of my favorites: Three Artists Try Drawing Pokémon from Memory, Artists Make Scenes From Random Shapes, Artists Turn Random Poses Into Characters.

I did a thing - Weird but attractive Australian man endangers his life for entertainment and sometimes to make pointed political and social commentary. Sometimes NSFW, often literally as in actually dangerous work environments. Very soothing voice, not very soothing when you see him dance on active heavy machinery. Some faves: Ranking the Weird Aussie Animals In My Yard!, Can You Bite Off Your Finger like a Carrot?, Following a Cookbook I Stole From North Korea!

Nick DiRamio - They mostly do heavily comedic movie and TV-show reviews. Absolutely hilarious and inventive insults, lovely personality, some social commentary every now and then. Some starting points: Shane Dawson's "Not Cool" (2014) is Highly Offensive, All Gabbie Hanna Music Videos are the Same..., GOD'S NOT DEAD: The Most Casually Racist and Sexist Movie from "Christian Netflix" (PureFlix). 

Kennie J.D. - The Bad Movies & A Beat series is her doing her makeup while talking about shitty movies. The Passionflix reviews are the best and funniest IMO, but she’s great overall and the whole series is quality content. Starters: AFTERBURN AFTERSHOCK HAS LEFT ME WANTING MORE FROM PASSIONFLIX, PASSIONFLIX IS DOING SUPERNATURAL ROMANCE NOW? “WICKED” REVIEW, “SHOWGIRLS” IS BAD IN A WAY THAT IS HARD TO EXPLAIN.

Watcher - Y’all know this one. Puppet History is edutainment and brilliant, Are You Scared? is pretty decent horror content, and there’s more spooky stuff on the way in the form of Ghost Files if you’re into that.

Polygon - Unraveled and Monster Factory are cultural milestones and you can’t convince me otherwise. Good series also include Peacecraft and Awful Squad. If you can stomach N!ck R0binson, Car Boys and Touch the Skyrim are good content as well. Also, shoutout to my mans Patrick Gill and his ballsy idea for Anthem. You’ll agree with me.

Allison Pregler - Her Baywatching videos are a must-see. Very funny commentary about the Baywatch show, also there’s a lot of content there so it’s perfect to binge or to fall asleep to. Also recommend her videos on Charmed and Tremors.

Quinton Reviews - Home of the 4-5 hour videos dissecting Nickelodeon shows. Does a lot of other great stuff as well, mainly about shitty documentaries and dead internet memes. My faves: The Decline of History Channel, That Time the World Ended, Bad Nazi Documentaries.

Super Eyepatch Wolf - Mostly focuses on horror media, but also analyzes different weird fandoms and subcultures. Very interesting videos and engaging presentation style, but can get heavy and unsettling at times, so keep that in mind. Not “comfort” watches per se, but can easily take your mind off things just by being weird and engrossing. My faves include: What The Internet Did To Garfield, The Bizarre World of Fake Psychics, Faith Healers, and Mediums, What The Internet did To Undertale.

Noah Caldwell-Gervais - Extremely long videos talking about various video games from pretty much every aspect you could talk about video games. The presentation can be a little messy at times, but still good for having on in the background.

FILM CRIT HULK - Few videos, but those that are there are very good.

Folding Ideas - Analysis of movies, conspiracy theories and other fun stuff. Recently went viral with the NFT video. Also good: The Nostalgia Critic and The Wall, In Search Of A Flat Earth, Jamie Oliver’s War on Nuggets.

There’s only one season so far but!! I’m excited for season 2.

I did just watch the first two episodes and it is very fun so far oml it reminds me of a very chaotic d&d campaign which is my favourite thing but also,, drawing!! I am not good drawing but i love watching artists draw so much so this is perfect! i'm definitely gonna watch this season in like 3 days!

also!! i love them all but so far York is my favourite i love how he doesn't know human things it is such a mood and grandma sounds so great i cant wait to meet them!! <3
