I just don't think the whump potential of alleyways is used enough.
A lot, sure. Enough? No.

My favorite #alleyway in the whole city, off of #Pelham_Parkway_South, #the_Bronx.

I want to invent a city that’s only alleyways. Different types of them, with some of your residential street alleys and some city alleys that cars can’t fit through. Maybe some weird other ones, I don’t actually know much about alleyways.
I like the idea that they would be this way at random. Though, typically, alleyways would have the correct environment, but be connected to alleyways of different environments. So you’d have large urban buildings around a dark alley, connected directly to a car-sized alley with a suburban area, that then also might connect to an urban alley, or maybe it keeps up a streak of suburbs.
This also means that there would be roads that cars could use, but they wouldn’t necessarily be accessible by cars because the suburban car alleys don’t connect to any main roads, seeing as there aren’t any.
You can only access this city through a long series of winding alleys of different types with highway length, but all of the buildings that border the alleys are vaguely liminal buildings that usually stand alone for miles on highways.
Any questions?
