So it takes Andrés a month before he cracks, all because it becomes tiresome, in the end. To tell Martín a story, and repeat it, and repeat it, and repeat it. To watch their plan turn from a near-complete masterpiece to a work still in progress, to witness their greatest discoveries become undone.

Tumblrpon Retrospective: 1-16/16 “The Shared History”

First and foremost, let me get this out of the way: I’m not leaving. This is not a goodbye message, this is marking the end of the Great Draft Dump with a look back upon my time in Tumblrpon. This will be a very long post, hence the pagebreak.

A long time ago, I had a saying. “Ten days online is like a year IRL.” What I meant by that is that so much stuff happens online and so quickly that if you go away for a couple weeks and come back, things may look completely different. Just think of the addition of ‘blorbo’ to Tumblr vocabulary, for instance. My point is, on that measure, I’ve been a part of Tumblrpon for 408 Fyears (Fandom years). Considering the oldest trace of Tumblrpon we could find is 415 Fyears old and the show itself is 438 Fyears old, it’s safe to say I’ve been around for a while. And, like any old dragon, I've lived through a lot and got some stories to tell.

The Beginning

When I started, Tumblrpon was small, but vibrant. There were drawblogs, indeed; the First, Applebloom; the Drunkard, Berry Pnuch; the Musician; Octavia, and surely others I have forgotten. In these very early days, Tumblrpon was mostly roleplayers. Among them, the Second Queens, the Lawlicorn Diarchy. This was the age of magic anons, of KA-THINGY spells and the invention of the word ‘ponification’. Aside from the drawblogs, here I have remembered some of the more prominent roleplayers of the era, many of whom were, and are, my dear friends. Many of them are still roleplaying in the depths of Tumblrpon, long since overshadowed by drawblogs. I still think they’re the core of Tumblrpon, though; more on that later.

Eventually, however, one drawblog would appear that would change everything. Easily the most influential Tumblrpon drawblog of all time, and perhaps the most deserving of the title Queen of Tumblrpon. The Third Queen, Pinkamena. Before her entry, grimdark elements like Cupcakes and Scootabuse were frowned upon, even hated. Pinkamena rose up and destroyed that barrier. She was by far the best-drawn drawblog up to that point, and pulled no punches when it came to blood and gore. And in doing this, she became famous outside of Tumblrpon. Her art spread to Ponibooru and other pony outlets online, and seeing what she was doing here brought many, many, many other artists to Tumblrpon. She arrived 3 days before me, and within a year of her arrival there would be hundreds of drawblogs. Her presence was brief, but her influence ever-lasting. This was the beginning of our finest era.

The Golden Age

Over the next few years, Tumblrpon thrived. This was also the golden era of the fandom as a whole, the period from Season 2 to roughly 6 or 7. With every new episode, drawblogs would pop up out of the woodwork. With each new character, multiple drawblogs would appear, often with variants. Tumblrpon-wide memes happened; Misty’s Hoodie, Rainbow Chubbie, Yellow vs Blue Pegasi, Ghost Trixie’s Memorial and the Somboom were but a few of them. Collab drawblogs appeared that were simply ‘put all the drawblogs of this one character in the same house’. I went to my first Bronycon (thanks to a charity drive by my Tumblrpon artist friends) and was part of the first of many Tumblrpon panels, through which we brought even more artists into our community. In the midst of all this, I jokingly called Raikissu the Queen of Tumblrpon, and it ended up turning into a massive injoke among our group of friends (which, because it included a lot of influential drawblogs, turned it into a Tumblrpon-wide injoke). They're the only one who really got to experience that title, making them the Fourth Queen. They were also the last, since eventually people didn’t realize it was a joke and started getting uptight at them about it.

As for me, running Fisherpon was a lot of work. I had separate categories of tags that I would search through, some daily, some weekly, some monthly and some yearly, and I would fully tag and put everything into the queue. I had to make a second Tumblr account and move Fisherpon to a secondary blog so I could bypass the 300/day post limit to handle all the content! But it was too much, and eventually I burnt out. I don’t remember exactly when it happened, but I think it was sometime in 2016. After that point, I stopped trawling the tags as much. I was following most of Tumblrpon (often running into the following limit of 5000 blogs), and through them I often saw new drawblogs (which I reblogged) and good pony art (which I tossed into the drafts, for when I’d eventually get around to processing it). Most of my blog’s activity turned into liveblogging new episodes, and Tumblrpon itself left its growth phase and plateaued.

Bit of a side note: In early 2017, a very dear member of the community passed away. He’d been there since the beginning, had one of the most unique ‘draw’ blogs, and was a close friend to a lot of us. Despite not liking alcohol myself, I still raise a toast in his honor on every anniversary of his passing. I still miss you, Rusty. You wise old bastard.

Anyhow, on to the most prominent event in Tumblr’s history:

The Purge

When the news dropped, I was travelling abroad in Korea so I wasn’t watching Tumblrpon closely. However, when all my Discord groups exploded, it was pretty hard to ignore. I feared that it would be the end of Tumblrpon as a whole, and wrote a dissertation about Tumblrpon’s history and my memories from the site. That goes into more detail on my origin story, if you’re interested in that.

And, as I expected, it did a lot of damage. Many drawblogs that were already on hiatus used it to justify finally ending their blogs, and a lot of ones that were active found themselves struck out of the sky by a stupid bot that couldn’t recognize boobs if it motorboated them. Tumblr gained a reputation as being unfriendly to artists, especially for those grimdark and risque artists Pinkamena had attracted to Tumblrpon in the first place. I’ve heard that roughly 30% of the site’s users left entirely, and in no place was it more obvious than my dashboard. Despite following thousands of accounts, there were and are days where I catch up on my dashboard to where I was the previous day and have to wait for new posts to appear. That would never have happened back in the Golden Age. Tumblrpon had already been slowly declining, but watching Tumblr shoot its foot off and strangle Tumblrpon (among other fandoms) was very depressing and radicalizing.

However, despite the purge, Tumblrpon lived on. There was talk of migrating to Pillowfort, NewTumbl or Mastodon, but they never caught on well enough to seriously shift the userbase. Despite everything, some new drawblogs popped up, and some of the old drawblogs that survived the purge kept on ticking and gained new prominence (or were simply no longer overshadowed) among the ruins. Things clearly would never be the same, and yet not everything had been lost. It was reassuring, in a way.

Meanwhile, outside of Tumblr, another great star was nearing the end of its life. The show itself, our source of fuel. It whose whims had given birth to thousands of drawblogs during the Golden Age, and whose fancies had caused no end of trouble for drawblogs whose canon counterparts went through big changes (cough Twilicorn cough). Nothing can last forever, and Season 9 would be the last season. Generation 5 was still at least a couple years away, so I decided to finally lower my standards and bring myself to post pony art without proper tags. I know, it sounds silly now, but I took great pride in my post organization and it took a lot of willpower to override that. I made a post telling people about my plans for the Great Draft Dump and started posting again, dripfeeding Tumblrpon with a post (almost) every hour from my reserves.

The Present

And now, here we are. A year past my original ending estimation and a couple weeks short of 3 years since it began. I could have pushed it to 3 years, but today is also the 12th anniversary of the very first episode that started it all so I figured this would be a better ending point.

Tumblrpon is still recovering from the Purge. They’ve dialed back the bot, and that combined with Twitter imploding (or something?) has helped bring artists back to some degree (or perhaps it’s due to COVID stuffing everyone inside), but there’s still a long way to go. We have new horse content again, and while it doesn’t seem to have the same spark G4 had it has breathed some new life into the fandom which is nice to see. There’s even been a handful of G5 drawblogs that have appeared, even though we still don’t seem to have any for Zipp or Hitch which is weird (especially in comparison to the dozens of drawblogs each Mane 6 member had back in the day). And yet, I’m still reminded of times long past. With most of the drawblogs gone, a lot of the activity on my dash is made of roleplayers once again. They’re not the same roleplayers as back in Oldest Tumblrpon, of course, but I feel as long as they continue roleplaying and interacting with each other Tumblrpon will never truly die.

And that is my history lesson. They may not be aware of it, but the new generation of drawblogs and roleplayers carry on a 415-Fyear-old legacy, part of which I’ve included in this comic. Just as we were Tumblrpon, so are you. To every blogger who ever drew a pony answering a question, and to every roleplayer who by interacting with others helped knit Tumblrpon together, I am deeply grateful. Undoubtedly, in the making of this comic I’ve forgotten ponies who should have been included, and to those I deeply apologize as well.

As for me? I’ll still be here. Ever-watching, ever-promoting, though perhaps not as much as I used to. The tanks are dry now, and everything I post will be from the present rather than the past. I’ll probably just toss it all into the queue and have it post whatever it gets a few times a day. Thanks to Tumblrpon, I gained a lot of horse friends, and it’s always great fun meeting up with them at conventions or hanging out with them in my personal Discord server (the Tumblrpon Block Party). so, I'm thinking a teensy bit more about character death and, specifically, the death of a main character in a comedy show that I'm actually okay with. I'm talking about Death in Paradise.

Just as a primer for people who weren't raised by teaboos, it's a murder mystery comedy show, the premise of which is that there is one white British detective inspector guy who solves murders with his group of local cops: basically Midsomer Murders but on a fictional Caribbean island.

The comedy is always that he's some kind of socially awkward nerd who clashes in some way with his otherwise-entirely-Caribbean office, especially his black female second-in-command, even though they've at this point had four different DIs and I don't know how many changes of supporting characters.

The first two seasons, with DI Richard Poole, are your typical cozy murder-of-the-week-type mysteries. And then the third season starts, and the first mystery of the season is who killed DI Poole.

Like, it literally opens exactly like a normal episode, with a cold open establishing the suspects and showing us the murder victim before cutting to the jaunty theme tune and opening credits. It's just that this particular murder victim is the main character.

And then the plot progresses in exactly the same way, with a different white British nerd guy leading the investigation, because THE PROTAGONIST FOR THE PAST SIXTEEN EPISODES IS DEAD.

Now, some key differences between this show and OFMD:

It's a murder mystery show, so the rules are inherently different. No Muppet physics here: people die all the time and they die in totally normal ways, like getting stabbed with an ice pick or drowned in a fish tank or turned into a science class skeleton.

While this was the first time a main character was killed off, it was not the first time the DI had been killed. The pilot had Richard solving the murder of the previous DI, only for it to be revealed that his black female second-in-command of that episode was the murderer (Camille Bordey, his actual #2, isn't assigned to him until the very end of that episode). Like, shocking twists about characters you thought were "safe" was established in the very first episode.

The death actually affected the fucking characters and the fucking plot.

It's been like ten years since this episode aired and I still really like this episode, even though it gutted me the first time I watched it (and I don't like the later seasons nearly as much). Like, it's not my favorite (that's 2x06), but it's definitely in my top three. Because even though this is the episode they killed off DI Blorbo From My Britbox, it's also an episode about him.

The comedy is toned way down because the entire office is gutted by his loss. They have to do mundane things like call his parents to tell them he died and review CCTV footage and wait for lab data like it's just a normal case when it's not. At every step, there's a "what would Richard have done?" moment. And even though this is the episode that introduces the new DI, Humphrey Goodman, the summation at the end is entirely about Richard, with this pretty sweet line:

You know, bizarrely, I'm the only one who never met Richard Poole. But during this case, I… I feel as though I've got to know him a little. Mostly by the effect he had on those around him. But it seems we all forgot one very crucial thing: he was a detective. A good one. I think he made a discovery, had a theory about what he discovered, and then sent home for evidence to corroborate that theory. And in doing so, he has, in essence, solved his own murder.

His presence is felt throughout the entire episode, even though he's only alive for the first three minutes or so. His death is disappointing (especially for those of us who shipped him with Camille), but it actually has an impact.

So when they brought back Camille in S10, years after she was written out, they also brought back Richard: Camille imagines having a conversation with him when she’s worried that her mother is going to die, and he gives her advice and comforts her. And that scene makes me cry every time I watch it, because it's clear that she misses him as much as the audience does.

We didn't get that in OFMD. We didn't get an acknowledgement of how Izzy impacted the other characters (except Ed, in the weakest way possible), or even them looking sad for longer than two minutes. We sweep past it immediately and go directly to a wedding and then Stede and Ed settling down together.

There’s no gravity to it. There’s no time to process the loss. Hell, for the characters, there ISN’T a real loss. And if the characters don’t care, why should we?

Nathan MacKinnon: listen okay he comes around every year around hockey season. This year I’ve gone especially deranged for him and made a fucking top loader for one of my hockey cards of him. He mostly gets points for being Nova Scotian and also looking like he has sustained multiple blows to the head. He is also incredibly fucking shaped. Anyway solid 7/10 - loses points because he’s been stripped of all personality by the NHL in order to be more advertiser-friendly

Vinsmoke Sanji: alright okay I’m a fake fan because I’ve only seen the live action but sweet Christ I want this white man. From the moment this absolute womanizing jackass graced my screen I have been in love with him. He makes me giggle and kick my feet like a middle schooler at a sleepover. He truly is Blorbo From My Shows in the best possible way. 10/10 I think this man is so hot.

John Sheppard: I started watching Atlantis recently and I kind of thought I was gonna hate it because no Daniel and Daniel had been my primary brain rot since I was 9 but John won me over. I love his sense of humour and his relationship with McKay (aaaaaaa Canada Mentioned!!!!) but I also find his insubordination extremely hot like yes babe!!! Disregard your orders to commit intergalactic war crimes!!!! Also I love that we get Sheppard Scruff a lot because believe me that instantly casts a hex on me to lose all thoughts!!!! Foaming at the mouth for him!!! Anyway 8/10 - loses points for being a pilot bc my dad was on the ground crew and my genetic memory is telling me that all pilots are bastards

Tony Markovich (that fucking cop from shameless): listen okay hear me out hear me out……………….. alright I got nothing, I can’t even defend this one. First of all, I’ve only seen the show through tiktok highlights. Second bbg this man is a cop what’s wrong with you??? He mostly gets points for looking like a handsome young man who my mom would love if I brought him home. Like Tony just looks sooooo boyfriend shaped to me?? Like if I brought him home and he told my mom that he volunteers coaching basketball and that he likes to spend his off time cooking with his mom, my mom would literally bawl her eyes out because I’ve brought home the man she’s always envisioned for me. 6/10 - loses points for being a cop and also being too fucking vanilla to even think that his handcuffs could possibly be used for sex.

Ray Stantz: alright so he’s also the type that I would 100% bring home to my mom but unlike Tony, I respect his career. This guy is soooooooooooo husband shaped like he looks like the kind of guy who mows his lawn on a Sunday before the kids wake up so he can teach them how to ride a bike as soon as they finish breakfast. He’s also just so sweet and cuddly in canon and I want him to infodump about all his interests at me. I also like that his so squishy and I just wanna be the one who helps him get the ectoplasm out of his hair while he tells me about poltergeists and stuff. 10/10 - he’s so husband shaped he loses points for NOTHING because he’s EXACTLY the kind of man I want

Daniel Jackson: listen okay we all knew this was coming I don’t even need to say anything. I know this man has not only been living in my head rent free but he also lives in yours because you follow me and you have 0 choice in the matter. I’m not elaborating just go thru #yeet me into the void on my blog and you’ll get it. 15/10 he’s the fucking blueprint.

Jack Ransom: i apparently cannot exist without a white man from Star Trek bouncing around my skull so Ransom makes this list. I love blonde himbos and like the thing is that I know he’d call me a fucking slur but like his superiority complex does something to me idfk I should send this post to my therapist because evidently I need fucking help. 8/10 - loses points for being a cartoon, gains points for his obvious brat taming kink.

Ogay now your turn, who was your blorbo(s) before???

Damn... This is a harder question than it seems, because it is... hard to remember? My brain got SO rotted with Soulsborne world that I legit am forgetting how things used to be before that? It doesn't help that my feelings about the character and how much I talk about them / do for them do not always match! As a result, I have three types of blorbos:

1) The 'real' blorbo: The one that evokes the most feelings and I actively fantasize about being with, one that sparks yearning and attraction and consumes the most of my thoughts, but I won't do enough with

2) The 'productive' blorbo: The one which I practically breathe life in and create entire story and world for when canon didn't provide much and/or this character is unpopular. They often become crucial part of my online identity, or JUST my identity o_o'

3) The 'fanmade' blorbo: It is either an AU version of the character, an interpretation so unfitting and far from canon vibe that it almost works as an OC, or JUST an OC. I actually love/hate this one, because this is the asshole that will always make me stray from working on canon!! They will make me focus so much on them that depending on the nature of the character, I will forget the canon vibe in my love for this version or will forsaken general source material to join an AU/RP where this character is. Let me focus on canon-palatable creativity and stop wasting my time, dipshits!!

So, to give you the idea, in Bloodborne, type one would be, of course, Micolash, Edgar and Maria (but mostly Micolash)! Type two would be Rom and Izzy. And since recently my Laurence is between 1 and 2 because he is really S E X Y but also I have to create everything for him xD. Type three would be... uh...

My previous "fandom" was UTDR, but that stay was a little short-lasting, since Deltarune is work in progress and Undertale did not have the same grip on me. In there, my type one blorbo were Rouxls Kaard and Mettaton! You can tell I love the flamboyant sexy man with fake depth, fair level of depravity but not evilness, and intelligence of a brick dshhfdsdds My art never felt good enough to capture Mettaton's confident energy, however, I'd like to show this fanart of Rouxls:

Type two blorbo were Mad MewMew, Catti, and Diamond King! The latter two were sort of underdeveloped in canon at the time, and for MewMew I actually had a bunch of things, and even RPed as her for some time! Developing Diamond King was quite fun, though he was dangerously close to type 3 because of AU stuff where HE was the bad guy and not Spade King (and Catti was the 'monster' of the prophesy). Besides, we did give him a wife who is not getting used in canon but exists in the cards deck that WAS used for the 'cards'.

(EDIT: I made these sprites and I forgot that I made them and not Val o_o" Because it's been a few years ago + I am scatter-brained. Oh jeez)

And type three happened when I delved into helping to work on an AU for Deltarune, a project a passionate person started in hunger for completion of Deltarune, following after Chapter 1 and ignoring everything. Basically, attempt to finish the game that had AMAZING story and characters! I lended many designs, ideas and characters for it, improving it very significantly. I no longer work on that project and gave all rights to my designs and creative solutions to the developer, but it was FUN. And like I said, distracted me from the canon-palatable creativity. And helped me to finally come to terms with the fact that I am way better at nurturing, supporting, editing and improving someone else's projects than creating my own. It was a long time coming realisation considering how half of my drawings for any fandom used to be fanart of other people's ideas and OCs or fanart for our RP plots. Not something that can happen in this fandom because... you know. But yeah, I've always been the guy that would draw a pile of everyone's OCs/interpretations in the community, or help someone with no coherent design idea to GET that design down!

...ak-hem, where was I? Right, blorbos. So, the 'fanmade' blorbos were, of course, our version of Diamond Queen and... this BITCH:

This is Ace of Hearts! And Insight joke is actually something I just made up, since I made this guy before I knew anything about Bloodborne! It aged like fucking milk, hahahahaha!! To give you the idea of what I had to do to design the Aces, here are the cards by Kanotynes that Toby was using:

These are the face cards ( x )! If you saw Deltarune's chapter one, you can see how and which designs were used, and which changed.

And this is the only image of all cards I can reliably find ( x ). You can see that number cards were de-personalised and are just various things. So what I did was combining the face card look and find a way to "fuck it up", since Aces learned A LOT of 'Chaos' and not only part of it like Jevil (and now Spamton)! Here are the rest of them:

You can tell, even in healthy forms, they'd still be a bit... 'strange' compared with face cards. Ace of Clubs in healthy form would have only one head and one horn, and his 99 Insight Chaos version has 11 heads each with one peace of their body or face... And Ace of Diamonds would be a snake with 'umbrella' skin, which is nothing like other Diamond suits!

I was the one to insist that we have Aces in the project, conceptualised them, designed them, wrote them lore etc. And Ace of Hearts was my favourite, and also the scariest one. 🔥 : What’s a surefire way to make your OC get flustered?

Ravonna: something that draws her insane at first (and in a future chapter) is Miraak's ability to commit to a bit! In her line of work, lying is sometimes better than the wrong people finding out something they shouldn't about her or anyone dear to her, so improvising on the spot is her thing. Like she did with Rumarin when they got fake-married in Riften. Sometimes she's just doing it for fun. So, when she starts her act and Miraak is able to keep up with it and even add more insane stuff to it, she is very pleasantly surprised.

That, and also him healing her. Every damn time :))

Miraak: By no means is Ravonna smooth, but this doesn't matter in the slightest to Miraak, because he will get flustered at EVERYTHING. Her mostly not being smooth and romantic make the times when she is all the more meaningful.

He gets flustered whenever he hears her sing, whenever he sees her passionately telling a story, but mostly, he gets flustered when she starts showing her protective nature with him. Also, right now we're at the point in my fic where he kind of gets flustered every time she looks him in the eye. He is not used to this after spending so much time in Apocrypha and in the Dragon Cult. There's a certain intimacy whenever they look directly into each others' eyes. Besides, she is kind of intimidating, yet captivating and beautiful. It's terrifyingly amazing to him.

Max: Literally anything flirty from his crush aimed at him will make him so flustered! He has absolutely zero trouble when playfully flirting with Cassandra, just to tease her, because they are just friends, but when Dorian makes a move on him (and the oblivious bastard actually figures out it's flirting), he will start rambling, stumbling on his words, rubbing the back of his head, all that stuff. (This is really making me think of how the romance with Cullen would have gone. Two adorable awkward blorbos! Too bad Bioware didn't have enough time to make Cullen have a bisexual romance as well)

💪 : What is your OC’s most physically attractive attribute?

Ravonna: Hmm, I would say her face. I mean, she has a great face! I love her green almond eyes and her expressive eyebrows! Her long, black hair also draws attention, especially since she likes to have it down and free and uses a protective spell so she wouldn't burn it in battle or something.

Miraak: His eyes and hair, for sure! When the sun strikes at the right angle, his blond hair almost looks like an aura. He's a little angel boy with brown disney princess eyes!

Max: His muscular arms and back! He's an archer so he's very built and has lots of upper body strength. EVERYONE is staring whenever he wears something sleeveless hahaaha

🥵 : Is your OC perceived as physically attractive to others? Is it at first glance or is it something that takes more time to reach fruition?

Ravonna: She is very conventionally attractive. She's got umm... good genes. I won't elaborate further on that. For now. Gigi, you already know what I'm talking about :)) But she is perceived as attractive to people who find nords attractive. At first glance, most people would agree that she is very pretty. It's the face and hair that they see at first, as she always wears big mage robes, never revealing her body, but I think that what really makes her attractive is her genuine-ness and how true to herself she is always!

Miraak: It's pretty much the same as Ravonna: people who find nords attractive will be attracted to him. He is very lovely to look at, and his gentle and kind aura make him more approachable than Ravonna, who is often seen as untouchable. He kind of looks like the perfect image of a nord, equivalently in our world to an ancient viking, but with less roughness.

Max: By nobility and 'Thedasian society', Max is not essentially conventionally attractive. He's got some rough features, such as a crooked nose (which has been broken at least 3 times), his hair is messy and all over the place and his eyebrows are very bushy. He's got freckles all over the place and a sharp jawline. He has a scar that splits one of his eyebrows in two. He's also standing out because he is a tall, buff and awkward redhead. However, I think all of these things make him, so *so* endearing and he is one of my favourite designs for an oc I've ever done. Not everyone may find him attractive instantly, but as you see him more and more, you realize that all of his features go together so well and they actually compose a very beautiful person

i say it a lot with many things about the game, but he had a lot of potential at the very base; a Big Scary whose whole introduction is being mysterious and cryptic and intimidating who ends up just being deeply traumatized and masking a gentle loving heart underneath a cold exterior? like YES please???

and then i guess they made a checklist of every anti indigenous racist stereotype and trope known to man and had to make sure every box was marked. PLUS making him relive trauma and be subjected to (at BEST) constant discomfort throughout his route. you had a lovely character concept and a beautiful man to show for it and you motherfuckers couldn’t help yourselves

and don’t even get me STARTED on asra oh my GOD. i’ll say it since everyone else is too scared to: they made asra to be “exotic” howl pendragon and thats it. someone tell me im wrong. they were pretty clearly intended to be a favorite and therefore end up feeling like fujoshi bait mostly, what with the prettyboy design and never treating their relationship with ilya as nuanced. not a single love interest is a good representation of whatever they’re labeled as or based on. its NUTS

Some Erin and Anya thoughts... Mostly from Erin's side of things this time rather than focusing on Anyas. They are my blorbos...

-alright so I mentioned before that Anya and Erin just really hit it off and become fast friends surprising to a lot of people. Especially others in the group because normally Anya is usually extremely anxious around new people. But it's kinda surprising to Erin herself? The twos first proper meeting in Darchlight Erin just vibes with this girl she just met far more than she thought she would for someone who happened to fall in the same hole as Broccoli Queen (Derogatory) did. And then of course, Erin starts to learn that hey! This girl also has some interests that she also has! She likes reading, she showed genuine interest in fashion design when the topic happened to come up, like it just kinda naturally became a good friendship after that.

-Being trapped in GDC for like a week and a half because she can't for the life of her find Aelita who just fucking vanished does kinda help with that growing relationship, as between Anya's own mini adventures doing stuff in the city with other characters and that meeting with Cassandra, Anya does join her in trying to look for Aelita. The shared connection of having what is assumed to be the same friend does help even if Erin is growing more and more frustrated at the matter, but even besides that they just kinda fall into hanging out with each other more during this time.

-Erin also just likes Anya's Pokemon. Honestly she does think that Anya has great style and having her team just match her style and aesthetic so well is just a plus. This sort of thing is where the talk of fashion design got brought up. Back to Anya's Pokemon, she just finds it amusing they both have an Absol and Aevian Ampharos. Unlike Anya Erin is able to tell both the Absol apart very easily.

-the free time they get during chapter 12 (reminder this is where I put the majority of the the time frame between the end of chapter 11 and the beginning of 15, as Chapter 13 and 14 are both much shorter in direct time passage) is where Erin and Anya grow close very fast. Like obviously during this time Erin is also getting closer to Melia and Aelita just in generally, but still. Erin just finds herself enjoying Anya's company a lot even if the two aren't neccesarily interacting. They spend a lot of time just being close to one another even when they aren't talking. Erin starts to... Just like being around her and seeing her happy, and Anya likewise feels very comfortable around Erin.

-while Anya's already had a small crush on Erin, it's during this time that crush develops into fully romantic feelings. Erin doesn't directly notice that sentiment (Anya hides it pretty well all things considered) But she does notice Anya's seems to growing a degree of confidence, at the very least when they're together. Erin does get annoyed at Anya's rather constant anxiety sometimes, and absolutely hates it when Anya puts herself down at all, but it is nice to see Anya gaining any form of confidence...

-during their brief stay at past Sheridan, Erin ends up comforting Anya for a nightmare for the first time, even if mostly if that's because she just happened to still be awake when Anya got woken up by it. It's a first for Erin and she's not entirely sure how to go about it, but Anya appreciates the effort nonetheless.

-in general the times they've acted as team together is times Erin enjoys. Anya's stronger then she lets on, and Erin starts to enjoy working with her as much as she does just hanging out with her. The training month in Chapter 15 ends up being pleasant for the two of them because of this, despite some of the more heavy revelations learned during that months.

-Erin's first thoughts on how she actually feels about Anya comes at the end of 14. The two haven't seen each other in couple days since Anya got whisked to the desert after getting kicked out of the library (though that kinda annoyed the crap out of Erin general, Anya was there for a whole 5 minutes and already got kicked out even if it wasn't her fault), and Anya just was so happy to see her?? Anya ended up just hugging Erin out of that pure happiness in seeing her, and Erin's heart ended up skipping a beat when she did. The whole hug thing was a bit of a surprise to the both of them, Anya actually apologizing for it immediately, though Erin reassured her it's fine. Of course though, Melia's battle was a loss and Erin had to leave and the two had to separate after their brief interaction as they both had business, Anya for the tournament and Erin for the ball. And well we all know that ball goes...

-Erin's second moment where she starts go realize she may have caught a heap of feelings for Anya is immediately the next time Erin sees Anya, which is in Eclysia pyramid where Anya in her pure relief and joy at seeing her safe immediately trips on her heels and accidentally barrels herself and Erin right back into the spring Erin just walked out of. Anya just... Hugs her so warmly and there's tears in Anya's eyes and for a very brief moment it almost felt like it was just the two of them. Honestly I feel by this point Anya may have confided to Melia about her feelings for Erin so Melia would just have such a knowing look as the two get up out of the spring. At least Anya isn't covered in sand anymore...

I'm going to answer to some of the questions on this post.

How long have you been writing fanfiction?

The first big project I wrote down was some sort of an Alice in Wonderland (2010) prequel/AU centered around an OC called Christabella. The story itself was mostly worldbuilding expending on canon. Even 12 years later I am still quite happy with it. And I've been on AO3 since 2017.

What is your favorite kind of character interaction to write?

I like when characters play mental games and play "I know they know I know" kind of stuff. It's both exciting to write and a fun way to tease my readers.

Do you have a hyper-specific genre?

Actually, yes ! I love writing stories that involve some sort of distortion of reality, paradoxes and timey wimey stuff.

Fanfiction wise, my favourite thing is to explore the universe and play with the cracks and limits of the worldbuilding to add my own ideas. Also, I love adding OCs ^^.

And of course good old hurt/comfort fics about my blorbo of the moment.

Share a joke or funny moment that you’ve written that still makes you laugh.

I am not very good at writing jokes, but sometimes i get a bit carried away, so now my young Ravonna Variant has a pet mochicat. A mochicat is not really a cat, it's a sub specie of blob that looks vaguely cat shaped, like a sea rabbit is actaully a slug shaped like a rabbit. When she put it in her pocket it was mochi sized but it can grow really big.

I hope Michael Waldron would be proud of Rebecca and her voluminous mochicat.

I think I write what I need to read.

Where do you draw inspiration?

Mostly from my personal life, my long time obsessions and the great conversations I have with my friends on this website.

Usually I check my mailbox every hour for a few days after I've updated, waiting for my friends to drop nice things.

What is your biggest challenge in writing?

I am a very slow writer, even more since I started this job. It's an inconveniance when my current projects are pretty big and ambitious.

1-2 sentence preview from your current WIP?? (Only if you are willing.)

If Loki was disappointed, he didn't show it. Instead he also drew back, giving her more personal space.

I am very proud of The Resurrection of Lungbarrow. It was my first long fic, 81 k words, and I'm proud I managed to finish it. I'm currently working on the sequel.

Tone is difficult to get across on tumblr so know that I say all this in a non-annoyed way.

Yes they are, and I love them too. I've been labelled as a Glee girls blog and I don't mind that at all because I do love me the girls and I love talking about them. Even though I never have and never will try to hide that Santana is by far my favourite thing about Glee, hands down, and even with that said I do like talking about basically all aspects of the show, I'm comfortable with the Glee girls niche. And yes, apart from Santana, I've mostly just talked about Santana ships/Brittany/Quinn/Kitty the most, and somewhat about Rachel.

But what I need you to know Anon is that that's what I get asked about. And while I would love to write some meta or really anything about Mercedes and Tina, truth is I just don't really have the capacity to be churning out content besides gifs and answering asks these days. If you look at my masterpost or have followed what I've been doing (which I'm assuming you have, since you know my blindspots?) you'll see that most of what I do writing-wise is ask-based and has been for a while. Even with Santana I don't have time to "independently" do a lot of the posts I want to - I have a long two-part Santanalysis coming up but even that is only getting finished after months of sitting in the drafts because I got an anon on the topic and that was enough motivation. The only thing I do that isn't prompted in this way is this Pezberry Thought of the Week thing, and that's more like "of the Fortnight" tbh because again, time.

All this to say? I'd very gladly talk about any and all Tina and/or Mercedes topics but I don't have the capacity to just, do it unprompted. And I know that can come across weird or whatever, like oh give me attention tell me you wanna hear my thoughts lol. But that's not even it, because I'm also just happy to be a platform if anyone has thoughts they'd wanna share but would rather open up the conversation here or something. It's just, when people bring up a topic I know they wanna talk about it and it's a specific thing I can get started on. Otherwise, like I say even with Santana I can't get anything finished because there's only so much time I can spend on Glee, even if it's my Glee blorbo on a given day. And if I know there's someone interested in this other topic, that's going to take priority, along with keeping up my paintbox gif streak and playing around with other ideas.

Even now, I can't help but think we could be talking about Tina and/or Mercedes as characters instead of this. And once again, I'm not annoyed at this ask nor is this just to complain the boohoo, I have so little time. After all, I could be answering other asks instead of writing this out lol. three of which are about Santana/Brittana btw because again that's what I get asked about. I mean, take someone like Quinn. I've never written anything substantial about Quinn if it wasn't for ask, but I'm happy to headcanon the heck out of her character when people ask me to.

So yeah long story short, let's talk about all the Glee girls! Let's get the Tina and Mercedes love going! I just don't feel like this is the way to do it, ya know Anon. And I could do the usual disclaimers about not owing anything, this is my blog, etc etc, but I genuinely am not interpreting this ask in a demanding and entitled way and I do see what you mean. I just hopefully also explained why that is. And btw I encourage you or anyone else to get that love and appreciation started because far be it from me to view myself as some kind of arbiter of anything lol. The Glee fandom was fine before me and I'm sure it will be long after I stopped going on about the show.
