#Minecraft#Damned#WPVG#WPMC#Oooooh you wanna tour the Institute soooo baaaddd#Lol#So some quick stats - I believe I'm currently making this at 3/5ths scale on some loooooose math#At a glance - if the floor plan is To Scale (which tbh I don't think it is lol) the institute itself is ~330x620ftsq#Tho it's weirdly shaped so honestly it's a bit hard to tell lol#There's only one given square footage on the entire map and it's an awkward 14'x16' in the Activities Shed (not featured here - yet)#So approximating in 10' blocks from there I've been putting down two Minecraft block per approximate 10'#Which if each block is a meter then two meters is a little over 6' - 6' to 10' - thus 3/5ths scale#I /think/ I am not a math gay I just have the mental illness that makes me want to walk around fictional mental asylums#It's honestly so fun to see it come together :D#Fun to walk those halls!#It's also been very meditative to lay walls and floors and ceilings and lights and the outer shell one block at a time haha#Probably the most cerebral part has been the alternating pattern in the bathrooms haha#Funnily enough this was actually inspired by some papercraft - saw some paper buildings and got The Urge#I want some kind of physical object of the institute so baaaad#Digital effigy isn't a bad alternative tho#And there's a level of exactness that can't be achieved in like - the Sims for example#(The Sims Institute my deeply deeply beloved been pulling much inspiration thank you Alana <3)#Tho the Sims /does/ have the advantage of painting one side of a wall one colour and the other side a different colour hgh#Doubling up wall thickness has been killer on keeping the internal/external sizing consistent#I've managed so far! But I am still only on the first floor#Well - the shell of the lower floor will require restrictions either way it's fine#I'm having a lot of fun with it! And also ow my wrist lol#I think it'll be a fun resource to have :) And I mean hey - it's easier to make something physical with a 3D rendering to work from yeah?#Ignoring how Minecraft doesn't have to abide by physics lol#Institute dollhouse with modular rooms and floors...... i just. hit s+ rank in splatoon and i never honestly thought this would happen?? am i cool now.. do i get to be a part of the s4? do i get to be watered down to my running joke all the time?
#the last part is a joke but i do not see a whole lot of recognition of the s4 being. the s4#like yeah they were cool formidable foes in the s1 era and skull even beat goggles despite his plot armor#but now theyre just#there??#dont get me wrong i love their existence but#it feels like theyve been watered down at least a bit#skull is always just getting lost and army is almost always either the manual guy or the curry guy#thats. thats it thats their bits#skull also has the sweets thing#rider is sometimes a considerable foe too but at the same time the s4 doesnt usually consist of him so im not sure how much to count him#that being said it is a kids manga so i dont really expect it to lean too far into the formidable foes thing#even the xblood werent that scary in the long run and ended up goofy despite being who they were#i also get it in terms of fandom#i understand the appeal of something like aloha being cutesy dumb pink guy (who maaaaaaybe commited some crimes and it shows)#i also definitely understand the appeal of army having a thing for curry as well as the manuals#the manuals can be an endearing thing to write about trust me#but i also wouldnt mind seeing more things that center around the likes of the s4 and the xblood and even the best8 being the absolute best#of the best during their prime#reminder that s+ was the highest rank around when the s4 were introduced. same with the xblood#they were the strongest players and id like to see things that center around that#id like to imagine that moving on to the square and splatsville that the s4 would have had a chance to move uo and get into xbattles#i think of all of them skull and army would have the highest chances of actually making it to xrank and being successful#but honestly if mask and aloha could probably make it pretty well too if they got off their asses#and i think rider would excel as well being rider#he has his own kind of near plot armour i think#so do most of the big teams in my opinion#theyre the sort of doomed by the plot that forces them to battle goggles at some point lmao#maybe i could use this in a fic or au one day#maybe someone already has...#(please send to me if you know of any creators who have played around with these vague ideas of strength i wanna see em)

rereading ch1 thescreamingskull.gif what is he supposed to do what is he supposed to do!!!!!!!! he can't be a farmer and a soldier hes only got one choice but anytime he moves in that direction they get pissed at him!! gee i wonder why he keeps skipping out on lessons with the priestking do you think perhaps sending him out to torture and kill people (starting at 15/16) and letting him think that's all he's good for may have influenced his thoughts on the matter? why would he bother. genuinely. "oh you'll have to bond with a girl eventually" okay well first of all that's very heteronormative of you perri*. second of all i think it is like, pretty clear to the people around him that to froi being part of the guard in the way they want him to is very much an all or nothing deal. even discounting his relationship with sex&romance if he's not able to do both (family+the guard) now how is he going to be able to expect to do it later? like he's backed into this corner where he "can't do both" explicitly, but at the same time he's expected to do both but only in the way they want him to he is not being given a choice in the matter. "Once a boy with no home, Froi now found himself torn between two." and this is about sayles/the guard in chapter 1!!! how well did this mindset work out for you guys now neither of you get to keep him. they turn him into a weapon (this is text there's the whole flashback where trevanion says like "You're a weapon Froi. Maybe the best we've ever created.") then when he thinks of himself as one they act as though he's wronged them personally

#the thing about froi i think is that he pretty consistently exists in this third space?#like outside of working in sayles there's not much evidence of him sort of just spending time with people i guess? he doesn't have a -#distinct in group other than sayles#in the context of the guard we know he isn't a proper member and outside of the trevanion/perri/moss/aldron square there's no interaction#where they aren't antagonising him/vice versa. but he's also separate from the trainees like it reads as though perri mostly trains him 1on#or with the guard#so he continues to lack the exact sense of belonging they expected him to feel at the end of book1 in favour of a different more specific#(i want to say nationalistic but i really don't think that's the right word. they expect him to love lumatere the country in it's entirety#when that isn't really how he tends to do things? idk i'm rambling)#sense of connection with the people and land around him which is actively being uprooted whenever they tell him he can't belong to sayles#tldr his list of people he trusts must be like 2 thirds villagers in sayles we never see him interact with bc there's no way in hell he's#making it to 30 otherwise.#lumaterereread
