Hi guys :') To my followers and tumblr friends, I'm really sorry if my sudden disappearance scared or upset you. It wasn't quite... planned. And today was a busy day and I needed some time to consider what I wanted to do.

Short version of the story:

My tumblr account got terminated for copyright infringement. A certain Mr. Green got me in unlucky trouble (ref 1, 2).

I won't get it back, or try to get it back. It's gone.

Needed a moment to consider 2 options: ask Mia to extend my dramatic farewell letter and stay gone, or make a new blog.

Not planning to post new writing here. I won't be using words like 'never' or 'forever' because I'm a known clown with things like this, but the intention is to no longer post fics. I will finish Tickletober on AO3 and then take a break from writing. So yes, I cancel the swiftscribbles event too, sorry!

When I opened my laptop, I could see my old blog in its final hour lmao (I found out about the loss on my phone). So that's what the snap is from on a fitting grave. It was fun while it lasted!

Long version of the story:

Losing my blog(s): My Tumblr account with main blog + sideblogs got terminated overnight, it was quite the surprise! I've either been reported or tracked by bots. The posts are a bunch of numbered URLs I can't open, but the message is clear: for including anime content, genshin impact or media from other sources (whether it's videos, screenshots, official art, gifs or even fanwork) you technically can get a strike. Upon googling the claimer I quickly found this first, and knew it was a lost cause. Although it feels shitty and unlucky, I am in no place to appeal. It's like when I used to make AMVs in the past, you never knew whether a song or even anime footage was going to give your YT account a copyright strike or even a ban, it was a gamble. I have lost YT accounts before, and now I lost the Tumblr one. With 7+ years of tickle trash content and a bunch of sideblogs. But oh well, moving on!

Starting a new blog: It was a serious consideration whether this was my ultimate chance to do what I've always said I wanted to do eventually - quit my blog. My first thought was to ask Mia to share my explanation and literal goodbye with you guys, and stick to my chaos of a Twitter account to indulge in fandom stuff. But then I thought of how happy Tumblr made me, even without the fic writing, but just.. reblogging things, getting random asks, shouting about life and of course, about tickles. I decided to make a new blog after all, but also decided the following:

The 7K+ milestone swiftscribbles event is cancelled, for which I apologize! The follower milestone, together with the motivation to write the fics, and even the asks with the requests I got, all died with my former blog.

I will see how long I can survive without posting a new fic or drabble. A loose headcanon or two might fly around sometime. And if necessary, a link to a new fic on AO3.

Tickletober? Hell yes I'll finish it, I would cringe in bed for 49 days at least if I would stop. I just won't post the fics here, but on AO3.

Reposting/reblogging my old works? Undecided at the moment but I'm tired and lazy. I don't feel too upset since most of my fics are still on AO3 at least and not completely gone.

Anyways, I'll see what happens and how long I can enjoy this nerfed version of blogging.

Surprisingly I'm not upset about losing my other blog, there were a lot of memories but it was also very cringe. I'm gonna be just as cringe here, but at least I feel cleansed.

In what fandom did you start? I think I was always a multi. Maybe technically Marvel because I had two muses from there who were the most active ones as I was getting set up and expanding my muse list. Then again, I also knew I wanted to write in the BBC Merlin fandom, it just took me a minute to find other writers and approach them. But nah, I don't think I've ever really had one set fandom during my tumblr rp era. If we're talking way back when I first started rp, it was Percy Jackson or Warrior Cats. I wrote in both of those fandoms on the warrior cats forums in like middle school.

Have you ever started to ship a rare-pair? Yes? But then I find out that the pair usually isn't quite as rare as I once thought. I'm blanking on any past examples, but currently Nick and Greg from CSI is one. I thought I was one of the only ones, but I've been seeing a decent amount of others that ship them too as I look for inspo and gifs/etc for Nick. There are also a good amount of non-rare pairs that I didn't ship until tumblr (eg Buddie from 9-1-1), so. Tumblr tends to sway my shipping, aka making me ship just about anything. Not that I'm complaining!

What was your first blog / URL? I had a couple other tumblr blogs way before I even knew tumblr rp existed, but I've only ever had this blog for rp purposes. I had a different URL for a couple weeks while I tried to find one that felt more multi-friendly, but I've pretty much always been forrkeeps. I think the OG URL was something like scarlett-speedster?? Which is amusing to me because I only chose that URL and added Barry Allen as a muse because I couldn't think of any other blog names and wanted to get started.

What is your favorite fandom in which you write? BBC Merlin. It was the show that got me into tumblr rp and the fandom I've been in the longest on here. It's the one that I always come back to when my muse for everything else is low or gone entirely. It just has a soft spot in my heart.

What are the trends when it comes to writing that you adore? I don't think I really know that many trends. I tend to stay in my little bubble and not pay too much attention to the dash (trying to break that habit!). Maybe crossovers? I feel like that was a thing before my hiatus, but after I returned to this blog this winter it feels more apparent. Like, I'm seeing a lot more fandom and oc crossovers than I used to, instead of people solely writing with characters within a specific fandom. Again, it could just be my own memory and the new people I follow now, but I do like that the community feels much more welcoming to a variety of muses.

Do you have developed dynamics with the OC of another mun that has influenced your OC or Canon muse? Currently, I'd have to say @hcpebled's Darcy has had the most influence on my Orion. Orion's main immortal verse is pretty much the same semi-oc that I started with, but he has a mortal verse now that is very much tied in with Darcy's world's lore. Even the way he thinks and reacts to things is different because of his mortality and the world he's in. I don't think I'd be able to write him as a mortal with anyone else if it's not tied into that world somehow

Hi. I was just wondering if you had any tips for new Tumblr users to get their posts seen. I am a writer and want to post stories on my page. I tried doing that with a fic I wrote and had no luck in getting it seen in the tags I listed. Tried doing support and was left hanging. hi! i do technically have tips, but im afraid they might seem unhelpful. regardless:

i have found, and i am in no way an authority but believe this is the general consensus, that unless you run a gimmick blog here on tumblr, the process of accruing followers, notes and reblogs on original work, is extremely slow compared to other websites.

i started this blog almost exactly seven years ago. thats seven years of posting three (more recently two) prompts every day. i don't think ive ever taken a hiatus longer than three months, and there have only been two or three of those. im not saying you have to put that much work in or wait that long, just that if youre asking me youre asking someone who went through all that to get to 25k followers (who say nice things and who i love). and! a lot of that was luck! talented people noticing the prompts and answering them, or that one popular octopus post from my now defunct writing blog.

i hope that all didn't sound disheartening. what I REALLY wanted to say is that if you want to get your posts seen, its going to take time and consistency, unfortunately, plus the things youre already doing. and! (hopefully this is the uplifting part) i think that it IS worth it!

tumblr for all its many faults can be a place of genuine community, which you personally get to curate. no one is trying to sell you anything, and personally, i appreciate the authenticity that adds to the experience.

its the wild west out here, it can be hard to get your stuff seen, but time and consistency will win out. luck many even give you a boost, sooner or later. its also fine if that's not for you. if you'd rather look for a better way to get a lot of eyes on your writing fast, thats totally cool! but again, tumblr probably isn't the place to expect it.

if you want to keep trying, keep trying! keep making your stuff (making stuff just to make stuff can be a good experience, but i think its important to be seen too, ddw)! time. consistency.

Hi folks! It's time for a slightly redundant introduction on a blog I've had for more than a decade.

My name is Kylie Robison, I'm a technology reporter for Fortune Magazine. Before that, I was working at Business Insider. Many of you on here know me as "preteenager," a URL I've had since the word was applicable to my age.

Many of you have followed me for more than a decade, and when Yahoo decimated this website, some of you followed me to Twitter. If you've forgotten about me since 2015, you might only know me as the person who asked how popcorn does that thing.

I've missed Tumblr a lot, I spent most of my youth reblogging late into the night until I hit my limit for the day. One of my most sacred memories was staying up all night on Tumblr just before my 14th birthday fiddling with my theme's HTML. That month, Frank Ocean released Channel Orange, along with a text post about his sexuality. This website was so fuckin good back then.

I don't really remember when I stopped being so active here. It was a slow trickle of declining usage through the end of high school, and everyone in my school started using Twitter. Over on that platform, I went through a few usernames (based babe, myspace mami, fijibongwater, molly mom, and of course, preteenager). By college, all Tumblr activity ceased and I started getting more involved in "tech twitter." I was studying business management information systems, and I wanted to get a job in developer relations. My audience became people in their mid-30s and on who wanted to support my professional endeavors.

Then, in my junior year of college, I joined a student publication called The State Hornet. I wanted to write about technology, and flex those blogging muscles I hadn't used since my heyday on this platform. I had an op-ed column called "kyliebytes," which ended up being my final username on Twitter.

Those articles got shared by those same nice people who wanted to support my professional endeavors. I also reached out to a reporter I idolized named Taylor Lorenz for advice on how to get into the field, and because she's so kind and I'm so lucky, she started sharing my articles with her thousands of followers.

Because of that newfound reach, an editor at Business Insider happened to come across these articles and a few of my dorky try-hard tweets about wanting to become a tech reporter. He reached out, I interviewed for an internship, got the job, and here I am today.

At Fortune Magazine, I write about the not-at-all-controversial Twitter. As a result of some slightly chaotic business decisions by its new CEO Elon Musk, I've been pretty busy writing about it every day while simultaneously growing a sizeable audience on the platform (mostly composed of people who just want to see what crazy shit is going to happen next).

The infrastructure there under Musk has been notably more fragile, and people (including myself) are looking for a place to move their audiences before things get too dire. Some have moved to Mastodon, which is annoyingly technical. I found myself really missing Tumblr, but couldn't imagine using a blog dubbed "preteenager" at the ripe old age of 24. I hoarded @kyliebytes and @kylierobison, but didn't really consider it further.

Much to my luck, the CEO of this site tweeted "if you have a ton of followers on Twitter and want to switch over and there's a held-but-unavailable username you want, reply here and I'll see what we can do." I messaged him a few weeks ago for @kylie but never heard back.

Yesterday, Twitter rolled out a controversial new policy that banned users from linking to other social media platforms. "Follow me on Mastodon/Instagram/etc at @kyliebytes" would get you suspended. Also, linktree's were banned, which is what I used to direct my audience to my articles and other social media platforms. It was a hot mess, and Twitter reversed the policy a few hours later.

In those few hours though, I was like uhh... fuck this? Let me just set up a Tumblr really quickly that serves the same purpose. I logged in, and saw that the CEO gave me the new username but forgot to respond, I suppose. A caveat to giving me the username: I have to be active or they'll take it back (or if Kylie Jenner wants it, probably). Fair play!

So here I am, a decade later, using my favorite platform again. I'm going to still use @preteenager to reblog shitposts and pretty pictures, you're welcome to follow me there. I'm going to use my cool new URL for whatever I want, I guess. Mostly going to be news, blogging, probably a lot of shitposts, etc.

I've missed you guys and this place dearly. I'm happy to be back with a very traditional and slightly cringe blog post that probably could have been less than 200 words.

both of these are blog-dependent; if you have the tumblr settings "let people ask questions" and "let people submit posts" turned on, they'll display! make sure to go to your actual blog in a new tab to check that these links appear, because the Customize page can be buggy and not display some stuff even when it's enabled and visible.

this'll take a bit of theme html editing, but it should be fairly simple! just copy/pasting a single line in the right place, then editing that a bit.

To start, you want to find the place in the code you'll be inserting your links, so open up the Edit HTML page in the Customize menu, then Ctrl+F to 'a class="more"'

Just above that (and below "IfShowArchiveLink"), hit enter to get a new line. This is where you'll be adding your links! (There's a screenshot of the complete code at the end of this post, if you'd like visual reference.)

Sara! thank you so much for sending this! I think before tumblr I didn't know what gifs were or at the very least didn't know that people made sets out of them, but I'd see them all over my dash and I always thought they were so cool! I'm sure I went through a time when I thought I would never be creative or skilled enough to make them? I remember doing a band meme where everyday is a new favorite and wishing I could create gifs for it but using photos instead. and then eventually I decided to try my hand at it! I downloaded photoshop and the rest is history!

you can definitely see how my interests have changed over the years. I started off giffing band performances/interviews and a couple movies. there was a good stretch of time when I was giffing Dan and Phil (which is where my url is from!) and those boys still bring me a lot of joy. then from my memory I remember there being a stretch of time when I felt like I wasn't creating enough and I didn't have motivation but looking back at my gifs tag there wasn't the big gap in time I thought there was so I think I was just being hard on myself back then. I found motivation again after I watched Schitt's Creek! I would say nowadays my main gif focuses are Schitt's Creek, Heartstopper, RWRB, and Taylor Swift on my side blog.

my answer is getting pretty long, but I also just want to say that my style has definitely changed too. My earlier gifs were mostly small (width of 268 - or technically 245 because the dimensions changed) and now I love big gifs! before I didn't do much with typography. I either just giffed scenes and didn't use text or giffed dialogue in which case the text would just be like captions. I love messing with fonts now and getting creative even though selecting fonts can definitely be frustrating. and I think I've gotten better at coloring. I have a system I follow and sometimes it doesn't work and I have to include more steps (season 2 of heartstopper - I'm looking at you) but I learn more when that happens!

and I've actually kept a notebook over the past few years where I plan out my gifsets so that's cool to look back on!

A. What was the inspiration for your character? At first, in her orginal verse, she was lightly inspired by a character from a show I saw. A girl that turned out to be an alien robot but lived her first 8 years thinking she was human. From that idea as a base I took it and changed it around to a girl on the run knowing what she was but not wanting to hurt humans. Then she moved to a fully human kind of story for a more flexible main verse (after a stent of a human built android) all those verses and more are still available

B. How/why did you pick the name that you did for your character? I don't remember I think I just heard it/found it and it stuck.

C. How/why did you pick the birthday for your character? Almost all my muses I just roll randomly for their birthday so I put 1-12 into a list randomizer and from there whatever month it gives me I run it again with the number of days for that given month. Lana's rolls landed on 5-24. May 24th.

D. What is your character’s full name? Lana Margaret Curtis

E. When is your character’s birthday? What is their zodiac sign? How old is your character?

May 24th. Verse dependent: 2014. She is 7 by default. She is a Gemini.

Lana is a very small little thing at only 3ft 6in!

Her first name, yeah. But her middle and last name reminds her of Sarah. She doesn't like Sarah.

She was called Lana-Banana in two different verses by teo different dads! It's a good one. She likes it enough. Makes her giggle. Lan is another option.

She's a child, only in elementary. She is in 3rd currently.

Currently that would be none or elementary student depending how you look at it. Dream job if you ask her what she wants to be when she grows up is "a baby doctor that pulls babies out of mamas"

She loves anything purple but can go for a good pink too.

Detroit. It varies by verse. Main/default is my other muse Sarah. But she also has verses where she lives with Hank or Niles. And of course the verses with my friends ya'lls muses all are ready to adopt her or already have so she lives with her adoptive parents too.

S. Where is your character from?

Heavily verse depending. Ranges from Michigan, Maine, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland. A little bit of all over she was seemingly born. But she was raised in Detroit mostly.

T. Does your character have a face claim? if so who? How/why did you pick this face claim?

Alana Mansour. No the fc name did not affect the muse name lol it just worked out that way. And I was just looking through a face claim index when I came across her at it just fit for the age/gender I was planning for this muse. There wasn't a lot of options with icons ready. I wanted at least some for myself but didn't want to make them all at the time.

U.Does your character have a voice claim? if so who? Is it the same or different than their face claim? How/why did your pick their voice claim? Describe their voice.

It is difficult from her face claim because of where her fc was born and raised she has a lovely accent that Lana wouldn't have been from where she is. Alexa Swanson is Lana's voice claim. I was watching a show with her in it and it just clicked with me, it was what I already had heard for her when writing Lana.

V. If your character was real what would they be doing right now?

I would hope Lana would be in bed. It's 11:20 pm rn as I write this. Too late for a little kid.

W. What time does your character go to bed?

8:30 pm about, that is when Niles sends her to bed. Sarah doesn't give her one per se but will demand her to go away at some point yikes. I'm sure the answer would be different for all her adoptive parents too.

X. What is your character’s bedtime routine?

She doesn't have any solid routine when she was with Sarah, its usually a mad rush to get out of sight. But otherwise she's the type to brush hair and teeth and bathe all before bed. She likes to do a little prayer even though she wasn't raised, in any verse, for any religious upbringing but she saw kids do it in books and on tv. It feels right. It helps her feel better sometimes. She doesn't know what she's doing or what to say but she gets to her knees, folds her little hands, closes her eyes and asks God if she can meet an angel to protect her from Sarah.

Y. What time does your character wake up?

Depending on the time of year and if it's a school day or not she generally is up too early for her age but she needs to get ready for school early and doesn't like to be late.

Z. What is your character’s morning routine?

Similarly, to her bedtime routine she brushes her teeth and hair, changes outfits, and gives a small prayer for the day.

Oct. 22, 2023: That March update was a huge LIE! (Okay - as far as tumblr & fanfiction was concerned, yeah - it was decent. lol) BUT I had a super toxic work environment, which affected so many aspects of my life. I have since gained two more diagnosis: PTSD (due to the toxic work environment and toxic former principal - who literally showed up at my house) AND I finally was diagnosed with ADHD. I also have a much much much much better job - where I can leave work at work. I don’t mind talking about the summer from hell - but I’m not going to put it all right here. lol. (Oh, and I failed at fostering a kitten, his name is Arthur! lol)

I get many asks about what programs I use to make my graphics. Pixlr BG can be used to remove backgrounds. Pixlr Templates is what I use to make aesthetics and moodboards. Pixlr is the programs I use for manips, banners, posters, story covers, etc. I’ve dabbled with Photopea, but I’m more comfortable with Pixlr. EZ-GIF I typically use to make simple gifsets I also occasionally use online-image-editor for gif overlays. I will also use LunaPic for certain animations. I’m new to the process of gif manips. A lot of times I don’t like what I make - BUT I use photopea for that.

Is there any easier way than what I do? YES! But it’s what I’m comfortable with and most of those are pretty beginner friendly.

1. Why did you choose your url?

I wanted to make a Star Wars blog and I also wanted to show that I was a big fan of the old pre-mouse EU. So I took my favorite EU character, Tahiri Veila, and played around with her experiences to make my url. During the New Jedi Order book series, Tahiri was experimented on by Yuuzhan Vong and an artificial personality, Riina of Domain Kwaad, was created in her mind. I simply replaced the name Riina with my own internet handle Raven and got Raven of Domain Kwaad.

2. Any sideblogs?

This is technically a sideblog actually.

Main is @the-raven-of-highever which is mainly Dragon Age stuff

I also have @ssv-raven which is a mess of Mass Effect, sci-fi, fantasy and other assorted nonsense

3. How long have you been on tumblr?

I think it was 2014 when I first got onto tumblr

4. Why did you originally start your blog?

Originally I made my main for the Assassin’s Creed fandom. Oh boy was I obsessed with AC. Fell hard in love with the Kenway family and Ratonhnhaké:ton / Connor in particular. I was sad when the tumblr fandom just sort of fizzled away and died after being such a fun and big group that I really liked.

5. Why did you choose your icon?

@palepinkycat gave me that incredible piece of my OC Amarra Kine for my birthday and I was immediately head over heels in love with how it looked. I just had to make it my icon so I could always admire it.

6. Why did you choose your header?

That was another @palepinkycat piece actually and my very first commission. It is of my OC sisters Ryscha and Amarra Kine. They are the main focus of my SWTOR canon so I figured it was appropriate to put them up there as my header.

7. What is your post with the most notes?

This one which I made as a joke after the Echoes of Oblivion trailer came out. Just a silly bit about how Knights and Warriors must be very sick of the Emperor by that point.

8. How many mutuals do you have?

Not a clue. I know I have a number of SWTOR mutuals though

9. How many followers do you have?

115... now excuse me as I go and listen to the song of the same name from CoD Black Ops Zombies lol

200 but a lot of those haven’t posted in years. Lots of old Assassin’s Creed, Overwatch and trans fem blogs that got lost or just stopped posting after the various fandoms died and the porn ban cracked down on people.

Uh... lots. Though in my defense it is my only form of social media. Never had a facebook, twitter or anything else and it is probably going to stay that way.

Nope. Is that a thing people do? It sounds exhausting.

You know how after watching commercials you are filled with the desire to actively avoid the product being advertised? Yeah that is generally what happens to me with those “need to reblog” things. Like buddy I have come to tumblr to unplug from all the atrocities that are happening in the world. You telling me I need to focus on this makes me want to actively ignore it.

15. Do you like tag games?

I do! They are fun and I enjoy reading the answers that other people give.

16. Do you like ask games?

Definitely. I don’t always answer the asks in a timely manner but I do love writing about my OCs

17. Which of your mutuals do you think are tumblr famous?

Not a clue. Got some mutuals that seem to be well established and appreciated members of the SWTOR fandom but no one appears to be tumblr famous.

18. Do you have a crush on a mutual?

Funny story. My partner and I actually met because we were tumblr mutuals. We were both in the Mass Effect fandom and just started DMing each other about our OCs. Started playing Mass Effect 3 online matches together and eventually decided to try out a long distant relationship. It worked and we’ve been living together for five ish years now.

Don’t currently have any crushes on any mutuals but my partner and I are poly so who knows what may happen in the future lol
