Anti Polin overview / Rewrite

Here's a dedicated longer post, now that I’ve watched all of part one, as to my problems with Polin. Although, I don’t think it’s completely beyond repair, so in the later half, I’ve shown how I would have preferred their romance to go. (SPOILERS ahead)

They tell us a lot but hardly show us anything. We’re supposed to believe that Penelope and Colin are friends but they barely interact with each other. When they did, I often felt like Colin was only doing that out of obligation to Eloise. Like ‘this is my sister’s best friend after all’. Not because he wanted to be her friend.

Neither character has shown what they like about the other. Penelope has apparently liked him for so long that we should just be satisfied knowing that. There is no real depth as to why she does. Colin does a 180 and besides her physical appearance we also don’t know what changed for him to like her.

Colin doesn’t have enough personality for me to root for him. He’s just kind of there on the sidelines. In comparison to Penelope, he hardly talks at all. Going back to the tell but not show, we get the talk from Violet about his character traits but he doesn’t act that way. He’s not very memorable and he needs more time to establish who he is.

Penelope can’t help lying and instigating. Unlike Cressida, Penelope wants to keep up this innocent victim act. There’s nothing wrong with Penelope liking to stir the pot, but she just needs to own up to it. If they were going to make her a morally gray character, then I wish she would go full out instead of acting like she’s the one always wronged.

I’m all for the new outfits and hairstyles but it kind of feels like Colin only likes her because she changed her outward appearance. It’s lust instead of love. This isn’t helped by the fact that Colin has two separate sex scenes in the span of four episodes. Not only that but the lustful innuendos, for example the frosting thing with Penelope. He only seems to think about sexual appeal rather than a true connection.

Penelope has absolutely zero self confidence when around him. Let’s say that Colin courted her in her first season out, she wouldn’t know how to take it. She has him on this unreachable pedestal and she doesn’t find herself worthy of him. Yet she can’t stand the idea of him with someone else.

She is too possessive over a man that is not only not hers, but never showed interest in her. Her reading Colin’s writings of his escapades in France and then spiking with embarrassed jealousy is a prime example. Penelope has no right to act like Colin owes her anything.

Colin never considers that Penelope might have liked Lord Debling. Even if she didn't, she's still reeling after what she thought would be a proposal. He doesn't take her feelings into consideration and assumes that he's the best there is.

Moving on to a positive note of how I would have preferred it to go.

Polin would have actually been a slow burn friends to lovers. They would have had more moments between season 1 to 3. However, if for whatever reason, this wasn’t possible:

Penelope would have no one to turn to and admit to herself that she doesn’t have any friends. The entire first half would be Colin and Penelope developing their friendship with no romance. Get rid of the entire “lessons” plot and instead shift over to Colin trying to teach her that it’s ok to be yourself even if that means being alone.

There could still be some conflict with Eloise and Colin. Let's say that she gets mad that Colin is trying to befriend Penelope because she thinks that he’s only doing that to spite her. Eloise confides in the rest of her siblings and they start picking sides causing even more discourse. This can be why Colin doesn’t talk to his siblings very much rather than he just can’t be bothered. 

Colin and Penelope develop their friendship outside of the “My best friend’s brother” trope and become genuine friends.

After finally feeling like she has someone to confide in, she would feel guilty about keeping secrets and reveal that she’s Lady Whistledown. Which then would actually lead to a suspenseful end for part two.

Part two would start with Penelope alone at a party after Colin gets rightfully upset. She meets Lord Debling and they start their semi-romance. 

Francesca would be on Colin’s side and give Colin the chance to be close with one of his siblings. (Side note- I think every sibling has a somewhat favorite A-D, B-E, G-H, that only leaves out Francesca and Colin) It would also serve as a way to get more insight on Francesca. She would tell him what's been going on with Penelope and Lord Debling and the suspected proposal. 

Colin runs off to find her but it’s too late and Lord Debling is in the mist of proposing. In a surprising turn of events Penelope tells him that she can’t marry him and runs off in embarrassment. Colin follows and she asks what he’s doing there, he confesses that he loves her. They both apologize for the things they’ve done.

At this point, we're probably running out of time, so to move things along, let’s say they get caught kissing by Violet and she assumes that they’ve been courting for a while. She jokingly asks when's the wedding and Colin takes that as an opportunity to propose. They get married… THE END.

Bridgerton Season 3 Episode 1 Initial Reactions

I didn't get to post these reactions so I'm posting them late as I needed time to edit all my 3am typos (cry) from Thursday.

I swear I paused the Colin glow up reveal scene to analyze everyone's reaction. My top choices are Anthony and Kate and Bennedict.

Like he's in his early 20s lmao, but he is not giving confidence he is giving slightly awkward line reading with no chemistry. In the books him being more rakish was believable because it was set 10 years later.

Colin meeting and talking to Pen, side eye my boy. I'm loving the costuming choices to visibly show they are both uncomfortable/ do not fit their clothes well and it’s so starkly done. Poor Pen in this yellow dress makes her look a lot more juvenile (which isn't bad but it is unflattering). And Colin with what I am assuming are Anthony hand me downs since that jacket looks frumpy. The parallels!

Kanthony is serving this episode. I appreciate this blissfully married life on them! Also Kate’s outfits are so intricate and beautiful. She has come so far.

Francesca so far feels like an external character, and it was similar in the novels until we got to her book. I really hope we get more context for her outlook soon.

Colin, what are YOU doing here. The way that Luke N is serving this season, whew. I really can buy his clueless innocence at his friendship with Pen, but finally the plot is plotting!

I'm very confused by this Baron Kent plot line and its introduction in the first episode.

I'll keep it short. It was simply exhilarating. I love being back it's like slipping into a comfy worn hoodie. It's good to be back!

Okay, so I've been cataloguing and connecting the succ trailer outfits, and I think I've managed to connect a bunch of scenes into episode 1, Logan's birthday (titled Listen Here, Lady, if the rumours are correct). This is a long post so I'm throwing it below a cut:

Okay. Starting off, we have logan in that blue sweater with the checked shirt. It's shown up before, too - that's what he's wearing in the first teaser when he stares out the window. Let's look at where else he wears it:

He's wearing it in this shot, where he's leaving what appears to be some kind of study. And this is where we can start connecting some outfit dots. Take a look at this Greg outfit:

That's the same outfit Greg is wearing here, just with the jacket done up:

It's also the same outfit Greg is wearing here (which fits, since Tom's outfit looks the same as the one in the above shot where Logan walks away):

So, we know that this study shot is the tail end of a long event - one with several invited guests, including Connor and Willa. Plus - that's the same outfit Nick Braun was wearing in the instagram post he made about the start of s4 filming, and there were set leaks in the first couple days (around the same time) of the cast singing happy birthday to Logan. So, my guess is that all these scenes are from Logan's birthday in episode 1. Additionally, all the other gatherings in the trailer appear to be for other purposes, and the 1% dialogue feels to me like establishing dialogue. (That also means Greg seems to have gained some kind of girlfriend over the break, who disappears as the evening drags on. Interesting.)

Now, some people have suggested this Tom outfit is the same one he wears in the argument with Shiv:

But while it does look similar... I hesitate. Because here's what Shiv's wearing:

But let's circle back to Logan's outfit from this event in a different scene - this convo with Kerry:

Kerry is wearing a blue blazer here - a blue blazer which is the same one she's wearing in this scene of the teaser, where she's on the phone with the Roy siblings:

But while she's on the phone with them, Shiv is not only wearing a completely different outfit from the tomshiv confrontation - she's in a different time zone:

It's late at night where Kerry is, and it's daytime where the siblings are, so it's reasonable to assume that they're in California at this point. That seems to be backed up by this shot, where Shiv appears to be wearing the same brown jacket while getting into a car with a palm tree in the background:

Kerry's outfit here is far more distinctive than Tom's - Tom's worn several white shirt-blue blazer combos before, so I think it's more likely for Tom's outfit to be either a repeat or a very similar outfit than Kerry's. Alternatively, it's possible that the kids are in California, and then fly back, and Shiv changes her outfit. But that makes the timeline of the event a bit screwy, imo.

Oh, but let's take another look at this same Logan outfit, in a scene he shares... with Tom.

You can see the design on Tom's shirt more clearly here, and there are faint stripes which aren't on the shirt he's wearing in the tomshiv confrontation - again, making that seem like something from a different event or episode. (The outfit from that confrontation, though, IS the same one he's wearing when he greets Logan on the tarmac. More on that later.) If I'm right about the context of this event, that means this is, again, and episode one conversation between Tom and Logan. It's also during the day, and there aren't many people around. Did Tom come to Logan's birthday early? Was he invited early? Could togan.... be re- *gunshot*

One last thing. Where does Logan go when he leaves the party? Well, according to the BTS photos... to dinner with Colin:

Based on the booth design and the outfit, this is the scene with Logan's dialogue about being 100 ft tall, ect:

Anyways, let's circle back to the kids. Those outfits are distinct, so we know where else we've seen them:

Unfortunately, this location only shows up in this shot, so this is where the trail goes dead. Except...

Kendall's wearing the same outfit here, in this shot of the theatre. What's going on? Who knows. I have no guess. But - they do seem to be connected.

There are still lots more outfits to catalogue, but this is what I have so far! It's all coming together....

Bridgerton Costum Rant: Penelope

 I feel one thing Bridgerton does best are the costumes. Not only by making their take on the regency period but incorporating with the storylines. And since Polin is next in the show I should start with Penelope.

Season 1 & 2 Outfit Analysis

Color Meaning: It is a well known fact that Penelope's “tasteless and tackless” mama dresses all her daughters in bright citrus colors, believing that bright color will draw attention for suitors. Which is ironic in a way since the Featherington sisters, especially Penelope, are the wallflowers of the show. But in truth it helps Penelope with gathering gossip for the Lady Whistledown because yellow can be the color of deceit. Yellow is often associated with happiness and positivity so you wouldn’t think a person wearing yellow would have a secret. (It can also be a color of intellect and creativity which goes into Lady Whistledown again.)

Cowardness is also another interpretation of the color yellow, which in turn can be how Penelope doesn’t share her feelings to Colin. But if you notice during two seasons as Portia is less focused on Penelope (in season 1 during the Marina drama and season 2 during the cousin Jack drama), Penelope wears different colors a little bit more. Especially in season 2. And the color that she wears the most is pink. Which pink is obviously associated with love. Something that Penelope longs for. We also see for the first time in full green dress in season 2. Which is foreshadowing to Polin because yellow and the Bridgerton blue makes green.

Design Details: I also found it interesting that the two things Penelope wears the most on her dresses are butterflies and flowers. Butterflies are symbols of transformation which we now know in season 3 Penelope is going to have. I hope we see a lot more butterflies in season 3 since no longer Penelope is going to be the wallflower. I am not an expert on flowers or their meaning but I believe the flowers she wears the most are roses and daisies. Rose symbolizes love and passion and daisies represent happiness and a new beginning.

What I hope for in season 3

More flowing dress: If you notice in season 1 & 2 Daphne and Kate's dresses are very flowy and silky where Penlope’s dress is not. Some of her dresses look very stiff and bulky and give off a younger impression (especially since Hyacinth and even Eloise dresses look like they're made with the same matureal). Now in the upcoming season where Penelope is embracing her sexuality we should get more of those flowy dresses.

More Cooler Colors: Like I said before we really only have seen Penelope in those citrus colors which are very warm colors. Which I don’t think are the best on Nicola. Some of the dresses wash her out instead of complimenting her; which is the costume designer's intention. From some of the leaked photos of season 3 we see Penelope in more cooler colors, which look incredible on Nicola. Since the greens and blues are in the color palettes it should complement  Nicola astoundingly.

Simpler Design: Just like the color some of Penelope's best outfits are ones that are so loud. When some of the gowns are heavily detailed your eyes are drawn to the design and it almost looks too extravagant on Nicola. Some of Penelope's best dresses are more simpler.

I haven't read any novels (yet) but I've listened to a few audios! Not many, I'm slowly getting into it. HOWEVER

If you're into thoschei you definitely need to listen to Master. It's just. GAHH. It consumed my braincells. It will never leave me. Plus it made me want to listen to more from Beevers and McCoy. I consider it essential if you're deep into thoschei tbh

AND. The Natural History of Fear. I went blind into this audio, from the 8th Doctor... It's one of my favourite stories ever, which I didn't add up there to not repeat myself. It changed my brain chemistry. It made me wonder how tf is it humanly possible to come up with all that and write it so well. The acting is sublime, the story is undescribable. Anytime I try to explain what it is about I fail tremendously. I don't think I consider it essential but I really do recommend it! In fact I recommend to listen to it twice at least.

Your phone buzzed as you were applying your lipgloss. Part of you was hoping that it would be one of your regular clients, but it was Hayley. She was a friend of yours who was in the same line of work.

You really didn’t want to be working the streets tonight, but rent was due, so you didn’t have much choice. Missy had disappeared. She was a good friend of yours. Everyone was on edge. But the alternative to working tonight was risking homelessness, and then you’d be in even more danger.

Hayley had saved just enough money to take a few weeks off. A little part of you was envious, but you were glad that she was safer.

You’d met Mare before. As far as you could tell, she was very chill, for a cop. She was investigating Missy’s disappearance, as well as Katie Bailey’s, and seemed to genuinely care about their wellbeing. You trusted her just about as much as you could trust a cop.

On my way, you texted back to Hayley, and then put on an oversized hoody that covered most of your outfit. You slipped your heels into your bag and put on sneakers, and then left your apartment.

At the diner, Mare was sitting at a table with a guy in a suit. From the looks of him, he was also a cop. You had developed a sixth sense for that sort of thing. You hovered by the door awkwardly until a waitress asked if you were waiting to be seated.

“I’m meeting some people here,” you said, and the waitress left you alone.

You made your way over to Mare’s table and caught her eye.

“Y/N, hey,” she said. “Do you wanna sit down?”

“Hey Mare.” Feeling very self-conscious, you sat down beside her.

“This is Detective Colin Zabel.” She indicated the man sitting across from you.

“Hi,” you said quietly. Male cops always put you on edge. You felt uneasy, but forced yourself to look him in the eyes.

“Hey,” he said. His eyes were so dark that you could barely tell his irises from his pupils. His shirt was rolled up to his elbows and his pale forearms were resting on the table.

“You want something to eat?” asked Mare.

“I don’t have any cash-”

“It’s on us.”

They were both silent while you perused the menu. When you ordered your food, they both ordered coffee.

As the waitress walked away, Mare turned to you. “Are you still working?”

Your shoulders tensed. “I have rent to pay.”

“I’m not judging you, I’m just asking.”

“… Yes, I’m still working.”

“Okay.” Mare nodded. Detective Zabel had only said one word to you since you’d been here. When you turned your head towards him, you caught him looking at you. Flustered, he looked down at his lap. You frowned.

“I know it’s dangerous right now,” you said. “Believe me. I know that better than almost anyone. But I don’t have a choice.”

“Do you know anything about what happened to Missy?”

“I saw her on the night she went missing. She said she was going to be working in the Penistone Street area.”

Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Zabel writing something down in a notebook.

“Did anything seem off about her?” asked Mare.

You shook your head. “No. She seemed pretty normal. Or normal for Missy, at least.”

“Is there anything else you think we should know?”

You sat back in your seat, looking upwards as if the ceiling had the answers you were looking for. You took a deep breath. “There’s a guy who lives on the street where Missy went missing. He has security cameras that overlook that corner, but he’d never give that footage up to the cops. He doesn’t trust you guys. But I could maybe persuade him to hand it over.”

“That’d be very helpful.”

Your conversation was interrupted by your food arriving. Mare slipped with practised ease into casual conversation.

“How are your studies going?” she asked.

You made a face. You preferred not to think about college. “Fine. It’s hard to keep on top of homework when I’m barely making ends meet, though. I fell asleep in class twice last week.” You don’t know why you told her that. For some reason, you trusted her.

As soon as you tasted your food, you realised how ravenous you were. You ate fast, barely tasting it before swallowing. You were sure it was very bad manners but your stomach ached with emptiness and you didn’t care.

Detective Zabel was staring at you. You could feel his eyes on you. Your skin prickled.

“What?” you said, turning to him.

Startled, he quickly looked away. “Nothing. Sorry.”

You looked at Mare. She had a half-smile on her face, looking at the two of you in amusement. You finished your food in silence, feeling supremely awkward.

“I gotta get going,” you said, wiping your mouth. “Thanks for the food.”

Mare scribbled down her number on the back of a receipt and handed it to you. “Let me know when we can see that footage.”

“Will do.” You slipped the receipt in your pocket, nodded at Zabel, and then left.

As soon as you were gone, Mare turned to Colin. “What was thatabout?”

“What was what about?” he asked. The tips of his ears had gone bright pink.

“You like her, is that it?”

He sputtered, almost choking on his coffee. “Like her? I don’t even know her!”

“Uh-huh,” said Mare, raising her eyebrows. “Then why were you staring?”

“I wasn’t staring.” He sounded petulant, like a child. “She just seemed… I don’t know… Very tired?”

She gave him a look. “Well, if that’s all, we should probably call it a night. If she can get us footage of that corner on the night Missy disappeared, then that’s a serious lead.”

“Right.”

Mare paid the bill. The two of them walked into the parking lot together.

As they separated to go to their cars, she said, “See you in the morning, Zabel.”

“See you,” he said, distractedly.

You stepped out of the informant’s house, clutching your phone. He’d emailed you the security footage for the night that Missy had disappeared, but he had taken some serious persuasion.

He was a bit of a lech. He knew what you did for a living and he wasn’t going to give you anything for free. It meant you were sore and too tired to work any more tonight. You hadn’t made any money, but if this was going to bring Missy home, it was worth it. You’d probably skip class tomorrow to make some OnlyFans videos to make up for the lost income.

Out on the street, you slipped out of your heels and back into your sneakers. It was cold, so you put your hoody back on. Hugging yourself to keep warm, you walked back in the direction of your bus stop.

Snow was beginning to fall. Somewhere behind you, you heard footsteps. You sped up, just in case. So did the footsteps.

They were gaining on you. You continued power walking until you heard a man’s voice behind you.

“Hey sweetheart, you wanna show me a good time?”

You stopped and turned to face him. He was a white man in a suit, well-dressed and smiling at you. You looked him up and down, sizing him up. Tired and spent, the thought of a reasonable payday was the only thing stopping you from walking away right now.

“It’ll cost you,” you said after a long pause. He put his hand on your shoulder and then slid it down your arm in a way that made your skin crawl.

“Hey now, the first hit is always free, right?” Fuck no.

“I have to go, actually.” You tried to step away from him but he was gripping your elbow. “Let go of me.”

“Aw, don’t be like that, darling.” He tried to draw you towards him. You took a deep breath, and slammed your knee into his gut. He doubled over in pain, and you took your opportunity to run, ever thankful that you’d already changed out of your heels. “You little whore!” he screamed after you.

You made the mistake of glancing back over your shoulder and rolled your ankle, slipping on the snow. Your hands took the brunt of the fall but you also hit your knees. The man was approaching you again; you could hear his footsteps. Ignoring the stinging pain in your palms, you pushed yourself back to your feet and began to run again.

You were almost at the corner. There was traffic on the main road. There was no way he’d chase you that far.

It didn’t matter. Ten feet from the corner, hands wrapped around your neck from behind. He dragged you back against him. You tried to scream but he was restricting your airway. You kicked and punched and fought. Eventually, you managed to elbow him in the ribs hard enough for him to loosen his grip.

It was enough. You stomped on his instep and then launched yourself forward, skidding on the sidewalk of the main road and falling to your hands and knees.

He was still coming. You needed to move but you couldn’t get a good enough grip on the ground. He grabbed you by the collar and dragged you to your feet. Cars sped by, none of them stopping.

“Get off me,” you shrieked, trying to wriggle out of his grasp.

“Shut the fuck up,” he hissed.

You tried to elbow him again but this time he caught it and twisted your arm behind your back. Crying out in pain, you struggled, but he had you.

Up ahead, a car suddenly pulled over to the side of the road and the door opened. Out stepped a figure that you recognised. You breathed a deep sigh of relief at the sight of Detective Zabel.

“Let her go,” he said, flashing his police badge. The man behind you immediately released you and stepped back.

“Look, man, she attacked me, okay?” He had both hands up.

“I’m currently investigating the disappearance of a girl that happened on that street,” said Zabel, pointing at the road you’d just come from. “So unless you want me to arrest you and take you in for questioning, I’d suggest you give me something a little better than that.”

“I didn’t do anything,” said the man again. “I have nothing to do with any disappearance. I was just walking down this street and this little whore tried to mug me.” You flinched, taking another step away from him.

Zabel frowned. “You’re not helping your case.”

“It’s okay,” you said quietly. You already knew how this would go. It was this guy’s word against yours, and even if Zabel believed you, that didn’t mean a judge would. As far as possible, you wanted to avoid getting entangled with the cops. “You can let him go.”

Zabel looked at you, mouth agape. “What?”

“It doesn’t matter. It’s fine. Just let him go.” You were barely holding back tears at this point and you wanted to go home. Every moment you were spending here was a waste of time. “I have to go.”

Zabel glared at the man. “I’m letting you go with a warning this time. Don’t let me catch you around here again.”

“Right. Okay. Thank you.” The man turned and walked off as fast as possible back down the street you’d come from. You rubbed at your eyes, trying to stop the tears from spilling over.

“Y/N?” asked Zabel softly.

You cleared your throat. “Detective Zabel.”

“Can I drive you home? I don’t wanna leave you out here like this.”

Your breath hitched. “Y-yeah, okay.”

The car journey was pretty silent, apart from the occasional directions you gave him. Feeling shaken up and mildly worried you were going to run into your landlord, you let him walk you all the way into your apartment.

Your fingers trembled as you tried to unlock your front door. It was always stiff, but right now, with your hands aching from falling over twice, you couldn’t get the key to turn.

“Are you alright?” asked Zabel, looking worried.

“The lock is stiff.” You tried again and then hissed in pain.

“Can I try?”

You stepped out of the way and he began to jiggle the key, trying to force it to turn. With his jaw clenched tight, he pushed and twisted until finally, it unlocked.

“Thank you,” you said, taking the key from him.

“Those scrapes look pretty nasty,” he said, indicating your palms. “You got a first aid kit?”

“Yeah.”

“Can I help?”

The question made your stomach flutter uneasily. He seemed genuine enough, but he was also a cop, so how could you trust him? But then, he was working with Mare. Mare brought him along to meet with you and other girls. Surely he couldn’t be that bad?

“Yeah, okay. Thank you.” You stepped into your apartment and he followed. Part of you cursed yourself for not cleaning up earlier. There were clothes strewn across the floor and dirty dishes in the sink. It was a studio apartment and there was barely enough room to manoeuvre around the double bed shoved into the corner. “Just give me a sec.”

You gathered up your pyjamas and went into the bathroom. Stripping off your shoes and then your shorts, you took in the extent of the damage. Your fishnets had ripped when you fell, so you threw them in the trash.

Dressed in the loosest, baggiest pyjamas you owned, you stepped back out into the main room. It felt good to be out of your working clothes. Zabel was staring at the photo collage you had stuck to the wall above your bed.

“Hey,” you said, and he jumped.

It was as though he was trying to avoid looking at you. Maybe he was embarrassed about being caught staring earlier. Not that you wanted him to look at you right now. Your make-up was smudged and your pyjamas were baggy and unflattering.

“So is this where you…” He glanced around. “Where you work?”

“I don’t bring clients back to my apartment,” you said, going over to the cabinet under the sink and pulling out your medical box.

“Right. Of course. Sorry.”

You grabbed some antiseptic and some cotton pads and then walked back over to the bed. Wordlessly he took them from you.

“Should we sit down?” you asked.

“Right. Sure.”

You sat down on the edge of the bed and he sat beside you, carefully not touching you. You held out your hand and he grasped your wrist loosely. With an antiseptic soaked pad, he wiped the dirt from the scrapes on your palm. It stung, but you bit your tongue and let him finish. Then he moved to the other hand, which was even more injured.

As soon as the cotton touched it, you hissed in pain and pulled your hand back.

“Sorry!” said Zabel.

“Not your fault,” you said, cradling your hand to your chest. You realised that there were bruises along your wrist and forearm too.

“Can I try something?”

“… Sure?”

Gently, he took your wrist and laid the back of your hand against his knee. With his left hand, he pinned your arm there while he gingerly swabbed at your scrapes with his right. It hurt like hell, but you couldn’t have pulled your arm out of his grip if you tried, so it was over in a matter of seconds.

As soon as he released you, you hugged your arm to your chest again. You were crying. It was very embarrassing.

“Better?” he asked, tactfully not acknowledging your tears.

“Better.”

“Anywhere else hurt?”

“My knees,” you said. He grimaced, and you quickly added, “Not from- I mean- I fell? You know. I fell.”

“Do you want me to help?”

“Yeah, okay.” You pulled up your pyjama leg, revealing your knee, and then swung your leg over to rest across his lap. You didn’t miss his small gasp as you did so. Maybe you were more used to physical contact than he was. You hadn’t considered that he might not have expected you to do that.

You were about to pull your leg away, but he settled a hand just above your knee, holding you in place. With bated breath, you watched him clean your grazed knee. Your eyes watered from the pain, but you kept still.

Finally, after he’d cleaned up the wounds on both knees, he stood up again.

“I should get going. Is there anything else I can do for you?”

Everything was starting to ache. You just wanted to lay down. “No, I’m okay. Thank you.”

He hesitated for a moment, and then pulled a small piece of paper and scribbled something down on it. “Here’s my number,” he said, handing it to you. “If you’re ever in trouble, just call me, okay?”

You took the piece of paper. His hand was on the door handle. “Wait.” You wrote your own number on a post-it note and handed it to him.

“You seem stressed,” you said. “Call me if you want my help ‘relaxing’.”

He stared at you. You smiled innocently at him. You were already wondering if this was a mistake. He was a cop. He could arrest you right now.

But he was also cute. And he’d been kind to you. And he worked with Mare.

And you really needed the money.

“Thanks,” he said. His cheeks were flushed bright red. “See you- Uh… Bye.”

“Bye.”

The front door clicked shut behind him and you flopped back onto your bed.

Colin shook his head and shrugged uncomfortably as he stared at his phone, wracking his brain to think of what exactly he should say to you.

“For fuck’s sake, Shea, just ask her to come up.” Matt looked exasperated, twirling his stick through his fingers as he rolled his eyes when Colin scowled at him.

He’d been moping for the past two weeks, ever since the two of you had slept together. All of his bandmates were getting sick of it, the man was the biggest pouty baby on the face of the planet. If they had to listen to him sing Everybody Hurts one more time they were going to kill him.

So they’d come up with a little plan to get him out of his funk, lining up a gig that would really lend itself better to a female vocalist and feigning innocence when Colin pointed that out. They had really enjoyed hanging out with you on that exceptionally hot evening, and if having you join them again was the only way to get their boy out of his funk, even better. He had actually smiled before pulling his phone out, but then he realized he had no idea what he should say.

The two of you had still been cordial whenever you ran into each other, but there was definitely a strain to your interactions now. No matter how much you both told each other it wasn’t awkward, it was definitely awkward. It was also weird that he was pretty sure you hadn’t come home after 1 AM at all in the last two weeks, and you usually at least spent your weekend nights at some other asshole’s apartment. Not that he’d had any visitors either, but he didn’t want to explore that too much.

He was still staring at his phone screen and trying to come up when some nonchalant greeting that would entice you to come sing with them when the phone was suddenly plucked out of his hand by an exasperated looking Keith, who ignored his spluttering as he typed a quick message before tossing the phone back to him.

“You’re thinking about this too hard.” The bassist said, setting to tuning his instrument and chuckling at the indignant look on Colin’s face.

Colin was about to give a snarky reply when he felt his phone buzz and looked down to see a text from you, grinning when he saw you saying you’d be right up. With an exclamation point! He didn’t even notice the pleased grins his bandmates were giving each other as they watched him start to tune his guitar, plucking a happy little tune and humming to himself.

They were all expecting you to come through the main door from the stairs, so when you shouted hello from behind them after climbing up your fire escape, you were greeted with the sight of five grown men almost jumping out of their skins before turning to greet you.

That grin on your face was enough to make Colin melt, all the awkwardness that had been lingering between you disappearing in an instant when you met each other’s eyes.

“Alright boys!” You took the mic Brad handed you with a warm smile, rolling it in one hand as you trailed the cord through your fingers. “You said you needed my help with something Col, what’s up?”

“Right, these idiots lined up a gig for us without consulting me first.” They all avoided his halfhearted glare with doe eyed innocence, focusing on their instruments. “And, well, the set list isn’t really in my range.”

“Lemme see.” You took the sheet of paper from his hand and scanned it quickly. “That’s a whole lot of girl rock.”

“Yeah, like I said, Ann Wilson and I aren’t really in the same register.” Fuck, it was nice to be able to talk to you again.

“Why don’t you just modulate it, then?” You mumbled absentmindedly.

He gaped like a fish at that question. He honestly hadn’t even thought about it, and even if he had, he wasn’t expecting you to know about modulation.

“If we modulate for him, none of us can hit the harmonies.” Craig piped up from behind the keyboards, and he could have kissed him.

“That right?” You teased, shooting a wicked smirk around at them. “You boys sure you didn’t just miss me?”

Colin tried not to sound too hysterical when he let out a laugh, missing the indulgent eye rolls his band mates were giving behind your backs.

“What do you think, we booked a gig where I can’t sing any of the songs on purpose just so we could hang out again?” Good thing he was pretty, the man was clueless.

“No, you’re not that clever, Col.” He made a mock wounded gesture and you grinned at him, looking over the set list some more. “What kind of gig is this anyway?”

“Yeah, Craig, you never told us what the actual gig was.” Colin and the rest of the band gave the keyboardist a variety of inquisitive stares.

“Uh, it’s a bachelorette party.” He mumbled, avoiding making eye contact with his bandmates when they started groaning.

“Fuck, Craig! I do not want to get felt up by a bunch of drunk, horny women!” Colin threw a balled up sheet of music at you when you started laughing.

“That seems right up your alley, Shea.” You teased, dodging when he threw a pillow from the couch at you. “You don’t want to pick up some rowdy bridesmaid?”

“No, they’re scary aggressive.” He shuddered when he thought about the last bachelorette party they had done, they’d practically ripped the band’s clothes off before they could get out of there.

“Aww, well I’ll be there to shield you this time, sweetie.” You winked at him and moved a little closer to everyone. “Let’s practice, boys. Don’t want to give those girls cause to complain.”

It was the day of the gig, and you and Colin had decided to drive together to streamline things. He was waiting in your living room and tapping his foot nervously as he waited for you to finish getting ready, anxious about what actually performing with you would be like.

“Y/N, we need to go!” He never thought you would be the type to take forever getting ready.

“Yeah, I know!” You strolled out to the living room with a grin on your face and he had to swallow a groan. “How do I look?”

“Good, really good.” The way he was looking at you made your grin grow even wider.

The outfit wasn’t even that special, just a denim mini skirt and a tight v-neck tee with a leather jacket. Oh, and thigh high leather boots. It was definitely the boots he was staring at, his eyes trained on the few inches of bare skin between the top of the boots and the hem of your skirt. You gave him a couple minutes to just stare at you before rolling your eyes and strolling towards your front door, grabbing him by his shirt and pulling him after you.

“C’mon Shea, we don’t wanna be late.” You scolded, shoving his amp into his hand and slinging his guitar case over your shoulder before heading down the stairs.

He had trouble focusing on the road as he drove you to the bar the party was going to be at, all he wanted to do was memorize the way you looked in that outfit. It was like someone told you exactly what to wear to drive him crazy. Maybe bringing you into this gig hadn’t been the best idea, because all he wanted to do right now was pull over and let you ride him while you weren’t wearing anything except for those boots and that jacket, and maybe whatever lingerie you had on under that outfit.

“Colin, you’re going to miss the turn.” Your voice snapped him out of his little daydream, and he cursed as he took the turn towards the bar a little faster than he would have liked.

“Sorry, just got a little distracted.” He mumbled, slowing down as he turned into the alley behind the bar and put the car in park behind Matt’s van.

The rest of the band was already unloading, waving at you two as Colin shut off his vehicle and you stepped out. You actually gave Craig and Keith little side hugs before you started helping with the unloading, he hadn’t realized you guys had gotten that close over the past week, and for some reason it made him smile.

“How’s it going man?” He didn’t know how he felt about the look Matt was giving him as he helped carry the bass drum inside, it felt suggestive of something. “Y/N seems excited to be here.”

“Yeah, I thought she might be nervous about performing but she’s handling everything like a pro.” He watched you laugh at something Brad said as you worked on connecting your mic. “Maybe we should make her an official member.”

“Whatever you say, man.” Matt just shrugged, laughing when Colin rounded on him and started spluttering.

“I was joking! We can’t just ask Y/N to be in the band!” Could they? Having you around had been a lot of fun, and the band dynamic had helped alleviate some of the tension that had been growing between you two. But seeing you tonight looking like you did and knowing that you were gonna have to have some on stage chemistry to make this work was making him think twice about things. You got a little intense during rehearsals, and the added pressure of being on stage might make him combust if you kicked it up at all.

Matt shook his head at him and set to assembling his kit while the rest of the band started tuning and connecting their instruments. You just sat on a stool and sipped some water, running through a couple vocal exercises absentmindedly as you scrolled through your phone. It only took a couple of minutes for everyone to finish setting up and then it was mic checks all around.

Everything sounded good and balanced after a couple adjustments and the sound guys gave you the thumbs up to start warming up. Colin couldn’t stop watching you. You were so unbelievably relaxed on stage and it was just endearing you to him even more. He thought for sure you would have been a bundle of nerves but you seemed to be right in your element, tossing him a couple of lazy grins over your shoulder as you ran through a couple of songs before the partygoers started filtering in.

The band switched to doing some instrumental ambience shit while they waited for the party to really get going, and Colin wandered over to talk to you when you took a step back from your mic.

“Still feeling ok about this?” He asked, beaming back at the soft smile you gave him.

“Yeah, I’m excited.” You bounced on your toes a little, adrenaline flooding your veins as the crowd grew. “Think I’ll get any bras thrown at me?”

“You never know with bachelorettes.” He laughed, strolling back over to his own mic so he could introduce the band.

If he thought jamming with you was special, it was nothing compared to watching you perform. You were a goddamn natural, coming alive and feeding off the crowd’s energy until you were completely lost in the music. Rambling thoughts/analyses on each of the stills bc I’m procrastinating:

1. This is episode 4, so we might already be at Aubrey hall at this point (or maybe not I don’t think Violet would decorate with pinks???) He looks kind of angry and very horny so maybe this dance is right before or after a first kiss? Definitely not the first time they’ve danced though, just from body language. 2. Great possibilities with this one, especially since its episode 2. Maybe they’ll teach gregory and get emo that Deadmund couldn’t teach him? This shot really captures fun and nostalgia but maybe its just anthony huffing about miss sharma and taking it out on colin. 

3. This one is...interesting? Like the wigs and outfits but I am interested in the location. Is this Eloise’s room? Pen has a reticule and she wouldnt have that in her own home right? It gives bluestocking or professor-y vibes, and it looks like they’re talking about something important. I know there’s a LW plotline, but maybe this is about Eloise’s subplot! In the books she refuses marriage three times her first season so they could be discussing that, or maybe it’s about Eloise’s involvement in a social movement. From what we have seen about extras and new characters it seems like a possibility. There are literally so many things it could be I’ll just stop rambling.

4. From the first episode! My guess is they are discussing “rakes” at the beginning of the episode, have guests, or are talking with Mary. Maybe discussing attending the Danbury ball. Kate seems casual but Edwina is very attentive and upright. Also NEWTON IS JUST FUCKING HUGE JESUS CHRIST. No doubts he could knock someone into a body of water with all that weight on him. Other thoughts: Kate’s wig looks weird but fucking whatever I don’t care. Charitha looks gorgeous and so Edwina. Kate has a lot of that dark teal color in her wardrobe and is giving much older vibes. 

5. From episode three! CVD said something on twitter that made it seem like this was the Aubrey Hall study. Interested by their facial expressions. Daphne’s concerned and he looks weirdly chipper. Probably talking about matchmaking or Kate. Maybe she’s upset he doesn’t want a love match and is telling everyone, or saying  that Edwina and him won’t suit. Hopefully Daphne won’t find out about the premarital kiss. regardless she must be most heavily involved in the courtship, more than colin or benedict or even violet.

6. Episode...er I forget. This will be vague but I wonder what they’ll do with the queen this season? Obviously she’s still concerned with LW and maybe even the activism subplot that will be prevalent. Hopefully more with her and the king, bc she wont be invested in the romance like she was with Daphne and Simon. Whatever it is they’ll have to keep her on screen bc they have a whole show to promote about her soon!

7. Episode 1! I would think they’re lookin bejeweled for the debut in front of the queen? If not then for a ball, but that would mean they got their hands on some money. Either from the Featherington heir or maybe Pen used some whistledown $$$ like she did in the books. Anyway they lookin fly makes me wonder why Pen is still in her old yellow clothes in the still with Eloise. In other news if Mr finch and Phillipa dont get more screen time I’ll commit some netflix HQ arson. 

8. Final pic is from ep 4! (Same as the dancing one hmm). They’d probably be at Aubrey Hall for shooting at least, and it’s interesting that Jack is there but not Colin! Love that we’ll get Kate/Ben content and Kate’s jaunty Danbury-like cap is immaculate. She’s wearing that teal-ish color again, going along with Anthony’s dark blues. It seems like the show is going hard on them being competitive what with Pall Mall, horse racing/riding, and now shooting. We know Anthony is kinda bad at shooting and I’m sure this will just be anther silly opportunity for Kate to show him up but I’m not like, that mad at it. I don’t think she’d actually be comfortable killing a real animal though. Maybe they’ll be clay. Anyway, I love the Kate is a jock content bc we know she doesnt like to read lol. It kind of makes more sense than Eloise being randomly great with guns.

All in all I’m so excited looking at these stills! I think at least some of my predictions will end up being right, and whether some of the topics, subplots, romances, whatever are tackled well or poorly remains to be seen until it’s in front of our faces. In the meantime it feels good to be excited and be overly analytical as I often like to be!

S2 WISHFUL THINKING

hey hi hello! i haven’t really been active on tumblr but i wanted to get back into the swing of being active and posting often. so.

i decided i will take note of some of my predictions, hopes, wishes etc. for Season 2 of Rainbow High!

so i kinda wanna just cover the things we canonically have seen aka specific events and drama that has gotten introduced

- The New Roommates / Series 3 Girls

i feel like we will definitely see more of them within the coming episodes. rainbow high literally advertised the new teams as like… i think the second or third teaser for the new season

it’s interesting to me because. this makes me think of What The Runway Project is? what could it possibly be? i believe i made a post about this in the past but the main theory (and theory i believe the most in) would be a Stage Production of sorts. i mean… it makes sense!

the twins are both Performing Arts focus and are definitely the antags this season. so why wouldn’t they cause trouble in regard to a stage play? plus, bella is back. she’s literally a set designer! we have never seen her do any set designing (other than making a sketch) so it would be fun to see that! if river were to get more focus this season, he would definitely have an outlet to channel his Performing Arts creativity! plus… Daria is a song writer so like. imagine if we were to get music out of that? please. the possibilities are endless.

im also eager to see the series 3 girls dynamics. like are the rest of the girls (gabriella, georgia, emmy and daphne) all roomed together? do they get along? will they all be just as dramatic as stella, sheryl and daria’s dynamic?

but anyway. whatever the drama and the semester project is, the new teammates definitely seem to be playing a crucial role in this season.

- The Twins

i’m actually really eager to see more of them. i feel like not enough people are talking about them? season 2 is actually really interesting so far…. maybe more so than season 1… and i feel like we are going to have to thank the twins for that at some point lol

like. idek what they’re planning on doing but. i’m excited to see what it is! they’ll probably be involved in the semester project or at least causing problems to all of the roommates and teams. they’ll definitely have something going on with bella. and it seems that they have a good bond with karma (after the KWK we got). so maybe they’ll have input in any potential drama with Karma. which leads me to

- Karma VS. Violet

so. this drama has been teased at for like. ever. for what feels like forever.

this moment in Karma’s bio PLUS the commentary about violet from her and the twins in the recent KWK episode. but anyway. i’m actually super interested in whatever this drama could be??? like. why is karma watching.

we know violet adores karma, she really wants to have her in the vi life. so i’m sure she basically looks up to her! but like. will karma actually genuinely be nice with violet? keep a distance? make remarks like she did in her recent vlog? i don’t know. idk what to expect. of course it’ll have to do with vlogging or something.

- Bella

ok so there is a few things to note with bella. i’m still interested in if bella will accept to do an interview with Karma for her vlog? if so, i wonder how that would go. and i wonder how violet would feel about it. like the very last time bella was featured in vi’s vlog was on a bad note (even though they made up) but like. idk AAA

also i’m wondering how bella is gonna handle being back to rainbow high. because so far it seems she’s having trouble fitting in. will the key to her fitting in be Jade? will Jade help her figure everything out? or would it be someone else?

as much as i’d love Jade to be the reason Bella starts to feel more at home, i also love the other idea of Amaya being the reason bella feels comfortable again. Amaya was once the new girl (and of course in an awkward position because she was essentially a replacement for bella’s spot in the runway group) but. she didn’t fit in. she had to find her place at rainbow high… and it took her until the runway show to be able to truly feel comfortable.

and like. i’ve been rooting for bella/amaya dynamic for awhile now. i see a lot of potential in this duo. we know they somewhat have tension. i mean. bella had a really awkward confrontation with amaya and that was rly their first and last conversation. sure they’ve been around each other like in the music video, at the end of s1, and when bella walked into the girls dorm s2ep2 but like. that’s it.

SO ANYWAY. what i’m trying to get at is that these two definitely need to become friends. i mean. they have a LOT in common. i was talking about the new girl situation because i feel like they can relate in that way. they both had an awkward entrance into rainbow high and could bond over that. it took amaya awhile to feel at home at rainbow high… so maybe she could become friends with bella and help her feel at home! they’re both very determined leader types. they’re really passionate and! they have the same friend group! so why not become friends?

- Jade and Bella

of course i will wonder about these two! i have no clue what to expect with them. the fandom and myself are really really really wanting to see these two become a canon sapphic couple. i really want to see this happen! and mga knows this. mga knows we want to see jella happen. i mean, they literally snatched the ship name from us and plastered it into their vlogs. so they KNOW

anyway. these two are literally going through it rn. the way jade’s eyes lit up when she saw bella was back at rh. and now both of them are looking for each other and worried about each other. jade thinking bella is mad at her rn? please. i will sob. they are really holding off this jella reunion but i hope it’s for a good reason. i just want them to talk and have a good reunion… a hug……. happy tears, happy smiles…………..a love confession…

- Amaya

so i don’t really have much to say here but i’m just wondering about amaya this season. she’s definitely been advertised so much to the point that she essentially became like. THE main focus in season 1. this peeved some people but personally i loved amaya being like a sort of main character figure. she didn’t really take attention away from the other characters but also had that energy of being a main character anyway.

my point is, though, idk how she will play out in this season? like is she going to be as much of a main character as the main 6 are…. or will she play a bigger role? i have no clue. it seems bella is going to have a key focus this season, which makes sense, but it still just makes me wonder about amaya’s role this season

- Colin

i just hope this man does not get a development arc. i know some people want him to…. but i just. i don’t. i don’t understand. the point of him existing was to show that cheating is wrong and to display girl power. by teaching that skyler didn’t need a man to prove her worth. that she is her own person. her own strength! i really hope that colin and bella don’t have anything omfg.

- Winter Break

i’m really. REALLY excited for the winter break arc. it’s about time we get to see some backgrounds outside of rainbow high! plus the animated tidbits of ruby, sky, and violet in their wb outfits in the wb commercial was everything.

i’m so excited to see their new hairstyles, to see them with their snow gear and more. omg. of course i think the twins will be involved in this arc someone. krystal briefly mentioned the twins’ family having a ski lodge. and then of course we see sunny with her skis so like. yea!! i just wonder how these episodes would play out. or episode. but anyway like… will they just vibe? or will there be a problem of sorts? if it’s winter break then it probably won’t tie into school or like projects or anything like that

- Kia Hart

i’m actually hoping kia gets some focus this season. like. what is she going to do? is she going to pair another couple together? (if so, please be jella. okay wait seriously what if she is the key to reuniting jade and bella together… anyway) i just hope to see more of her and possibly more of her and krystal together haha. but kia just vibes so far, it would be lovely to get more of her!

- The A’s

so ainsley is finally beginning to get some attention! i really hope we continue to get more of her as well as avery, and aidan of course! we did get a bunch of content of aidan but you can never have enough honestly.

but i just wonder about how the A’s will be this season. like will they do anything significant? are bella and avery going to remain close? what is going on!!!

- The Malibu Line

so we literally know nothing about this except

but i still wonder like. if we will get to see anything about it at any point during the web series. perhaps it would be more of a summer thing. but it definitely means something if Bella is in it! (also i’m just generally excited for her new doll. omfg.)

- The Rock Line

saw someone discuss that the music being heard during s2ep2 could be in regards to the rock battle. honestly. what if this is some sort of project? battle of bands or something? that would be cool lol. anyway i’m intrigued for this line mainly because of all the clothing leaks we have been getting omg.

- The Slumber Party Line

we have known about this for a little while (with the theory of the baby blue girl being in it) but i’m just curious as to who the characters are and if they will be in the web series at all.

- Jett Dawson

okay so. this is a big one. jett being a collector doll, i feel like she’ll definitely play a crucial role in the series. so like. who will she be to the main characters? it says she’s generally nice. why was she giving that look to the girls after their runway performance? IDK! i have no clue what to expect with her. i feel like the expectations i had for amaya (before we knew anything about her) will be put into jett because. the vibes i got from amaya ever since we just had her doll… i am also kind of getting from jett. so i’m eager!

THOUGHTS ON GILMORE GIRLS:

i have so much to say y’all regarding gilmore girls. I LOVE this show. i have a very tension filled hatred for some parts but most of all LOVE.

after watching seven whole seasons of these girls lives, i have to say i truly understand the complexities of these characters. we’re not even gonna get into the years of a our lives thing, no this is about the freaking original. god, the amount of shit that rory did, lorelai did, chris did, luke did, emily and richard, I MEANNNN god it’s a lot

1. Rory.

gosh this girl was so frustratingly annoying. a perfect gem and pearl in the first year, and then later she becomes a nuisance. but what i truly see is her finally getting out of that naivety/handholding/dewy eyed phase and onto things like being a teen. this girl really stole a boat and got it on her record and what i hated about the show is that they never bring it up again. like that def affected her getting into places bUT NOOOOO. they wanna paint her out as some saint. i think the only sympathy i have to her behavior is that she was growing into who she was. i thought thank goodness Jess screamed at the girl to go back to yale because Logan wasn’t gonna do it!! gosh the whole relationships this girls gone thru, ruining deans marriage, cheating on logan with jess and making jess sad, going back to logan again and again after he treated her like crap? like NO honey that’s toxicityyyyyy. anyways she was annoying but at the end i love her.

2. lorelai.

I LOVE THIS WOMAN. no matter how many times she screwed up i could never stop loving this woman. does this mean i have bias ? YES. sorry y’all. i just related so much to these two. the dynamic of a single mom and her kid spoke so much to me and my mom. but also i am not like lor and rory, i’m more like lor and emily. i have the same mommy issues, caffeine addiction, and a incessant need to ramble on about god knows what. i do not have the sexy, charming wit she has, but i do think i’m funny and i talk a lot (i mean look at this long ass text post) BUT she’s just so beautiful and wonderful. she went thru so much for rory and made her into the kid she is today and just was so understanding. i wish she gave emily grace but at the end like i truly get why she was always so frustrated. there were times where she was excessive but damn it i get her. i love her and luke. why tf did jason happen. also the chris marriage so nasty, but all in all she deserves love and to be cherished.

3. luke

this man holds my heart gosh damn it, i love him. i don’t know why april came into his life, maybe to add some spice. i think he never would’ve forgotten to wear a condom lowkey he’s so responsible. but hey, whatever the show includes. i think he handled that part so well tho , and only fighting for partial custody , i truly loved that. he didn’t wanna make it a big thing cause he knows that april needs her mom, but i thought it was rude that Anna (ew), someone who knew Luke’s character, and knows what kind of guy he is, would not tell him he had a kid. and then expects him not wanna be a dad? like he is the ultimate “i wanna make sure everything’s done right on my end, i’ll always do what i think is right” type of guy. he did that with jess i mean come on. i love his anger about things cause it reminds me of my own dad, and like i wish there was more complexity to him, but i think he repetitive nature suited him. he had a lot of chaos in his life and tranquility in the small things in life like routine and filling the salt shakers really helped him feel grounded and have a sense of control. i love him, the most caring dude in the world, and i would want him on my side in a war.

4. dean

we gotta start somewhere for rory’s boyfriends. i think he was a good first boyfriend, treated her right, but goSH DAMN IT HE WAS SO FUCKING ANNOYING LATER ON. see i even started watching gilmore girls cause jared padalecki was in it, and i was so awestruck by it cause of the characters but DAMN if a character could be even more annoying. dean was not into the things rory was into and they had no spark, but they had comfortability and it was sweet and he helped lorelai out a lot and treated her good, but he legit was so clingy and all that shit later on. and like he wasn’t even trying wiyh life with her in it either and it just frustrated me. he messed up a marriage for her, it’s so wrong man. like ugh.

if i could hug someone i would hug him omg. he looks like he smells like those manly colognes, books, and hair products but the fruit scented kind like coconuts and berries that he’s embarrassed to tell you about. gosh he is such a character. i love him so much and he went thru so much as a kid and i wish he never had that scene of pressuring rory cause that was a HUGE ick but all in all, he just had to go to therapy and know he could make it big. i wish they input his story more and that whole outfit at the poetry house thing was vomit, the hair and goatee made me choke i was like this aint you bby boy, but alas they had to make him look like those 2000 poet guys (i mean it was in the 2000’s but i digress) it just wasn’t his leather jacket and jeans look i missed. he was the one who understood rory in all her creative mess. he was the one to spark up that drive for yale again and told her to pursue whatever she wanted (granted i didn’t like how he showed up at her dorm and was like let’s run away together) but he was there for her in the ways he could. he had so much trauma tho that i think it was best they let go of each other and i think if they found each other again later and pursued it it would be beautiful.

6. logan.

i hated him at first yall. i’m so sorry i really did. he was a player, immature, immoral, and annoyingly right about things. rory did not need his influence. they stole a boat together, he wanted her to be out of her comfort zone yes but damn to what extreme? i think after he matured up, it was so beautiful tho. i hate to admit it but i love him now. he grew on me, he truly started caring for rory in a responsible way, he started working, he started realizing he could lose rory, and in the end it was sad she didn’t accept but he took it like a champ. i think he was so ready for it cause he loved her but he couldn’t have expected her to drop all her career options and just go with him to san francisco. i think he should’ve known her well enough but i also get why he didn’t wanna do long distance. i think he connected with her very well. in the way that pointed out her ICKS she never knew she had. she also was a trust fund baby with a rich family and is at Yale and doesn’t have to work through college. i hated that she never acknowledged that and thought she was some fucking hard worker. like yes you study a lot ma’am but you don’t work you’re not someone who knows what it’s like to worry about rent the next day. like damn she had a mom and she had her pool house shit and i also think it was so ungrateful the way she acted towards emily and richard. like they did so much shit for her and she took it for granted. yes they can be extreme but rory needs to be nicer. she is literally another pompous kid who attended an ivy league and she acted so high and mighty in that article ugh. anyways logan was able to show her that hey you have flaws too don’t think you’re perfect but also showed her her TRUE potential. he wanted her on a newspaper and wanted her things to excel and was there with her every step of the way. paid for an apartment, dor a car, and i feel she never really acknowledged that. it was frustrating. but he was frustrating in ways too with the bridesmaid things and the player things and the gambling with Colin and Finn (why did they exist) and yeah. but anyways 9/10

7. christopher hayden.

can i say i fully loathe this man? HATE. i despISE this man. the amount of times he messed up? the amount of times he broke rory and lorelai’s heart?? TOO MANY. he’s a dumb dad and he acts stupid with GG too and i stand by it and sherry is a bitch but damn oh damn did chris get himself in shit. lorelai was ready to marry him and be with him and he went to sherry. SHERRY DIDNT EVEN WANT THE KID. well she did and then it came by and she didn’t and then she left and that was confusing asf. cause she was over here talking rory’s ear off about chris and kids she was the most annoying character ever. hated her . BUT I HATE CHRIS MORE. then lorelai dated luke and pushed her and expected her to be with him and it to be fine. no. and thank god they split but damn the hurt lorelai went thru? it’s embarrassing when luke is the one at the hospital for lor’s dad instead of the husband. anyways it was stupud of him to always try. and then like mess it up between him and rory and act like a dad when he was barely there for her, but either way i’m happy he paid for yale and he’s out of their lives as much as he was in it.

8. emily.

EMILY MY LOVE. you are so stubborn and so conceited but damn do you love your family to the moon and back. this woman was a wife through and through and i have so much respect for her and it’s so weird because i’d never want that for me and it’s so traditional but she’s such a caring woman. only for her blood tho it’s so funny the way she could care less about those around her. um, i hate the rich things ya know the “status, and being poised” thibg but i have to realize it’s becaus of how she was raised and what she was taught was correct. i think lorelai never deserved that uobringing but i think emily tried her best in what she knew. and she tried to be better and wanted to be included in rory and lorelai’s life. even if she was always annoyed by lorelai’s jokes, she knew that was their dynamic and i loved that lorelai agreed to friday night dinners even after rory left it meant so much to her. and i love emily. she loves lorelai so much in her weird and twisted way, she does. that girl would kill for lorelai. i’d move mountains for this woman

9. richard

i needed time to get used to him at the beginning of the season but later on i found that i loved him too. the loving at first about the rory cryibg about yale thing was cute cause it was his first “i’m your grandpa i’d do anything and spoil you silly” event he ever experienced but it was so intense and i totally understood why he coddled her. i wish he didn’t cause it caused all the problems but it was necessary to see his love for her was strong.

they had to find ways in connecting in the beginning with the golf and the hat and books and all that but rory and richard were so close and i love that man. at the end, he saw no use in fighting with lorelai and even laughed at her jokes and was a mediator between emily and lor and the heart attack def did shit to him for him to say he knew lorelai was adored because she turned out to be a great person and that’s why the town loved her, it wa all so cute. i think at the end of the seasons we grow to love richard and emily so much so that we forget all the bad things they did.

enough daid, this show is great i love the complexities and i love the dynamic, the jokes, (some are problematic like the body shaming, r word, culture stereotyping, and sexuality jokes) i think that it was a great show focused on plot. i hated the first episode of the life thing the spin off i forget what it’s called, but you know. they made a lot of “spanish i don’t speak spanish” jokes and there’s barely still any diversity in the cast, and the jokes are so bad like they’re trying to be accepting of the lgbtq+ community but they made jokes so many times in season 7 that it can’t be ignored and like the amount of times they are so stereotypical to the asian community like “rory’s trip to asia”? like that whole episode was so rude with the hello kitty sign, but like idk

it’s a complicated show, i loved it and hated it, i have a love relationship with it that includes such tension it’s toxic. like i’m even hispanic and the whole bit of them not knowing soanish nor thinking they can learn a bit (idk as a inn owner maybe pick up a language/trade?) is not even that effecting to me cause i know them as characters on the show and the girls we grew to love are not like that at all. idk it’s so weird. idk y’all. anyways i finsihed it thank goodness now someone pls recommend new shows :))))

Thoughts on S3 E1

(SPOILERS ahead)

Hey, so I decided to do an overview of my thoughts and opinions of season three, seeing as I have already made, what some would call, a controversial post about it. I’ll go over them one episode at a time but seeing as I typically binge watch shows, it shouldn’t take me very long. There might be positives, there will be negatives, so please be forewarned that I am not going to solely praise the show. Also, it needs not be mentioned, I am but a single negative person on the internet talking about a fictional story. We are all not going to agree. With that said, let’s move on.

Episode 1-

Although people would like to think of Penelope solely for her personality, I think it's important to think of how society was back then. What skills or accomplishments does Penelope really have? Yes, she’s Lady Whistledown but of course no one else knows that. So what are people to think? Is it unfortunate that she has no prospects, yes, but am I going to fault anyone for not wanting to court her, no.

I understand that she’s supposed to be the “wallflower” but literally no one else wears such atrocious yellow. In fact, I feel like everyone else was wearing cooler shades and she’s the only one in warmer hues. Maybe it’s always been like this and I just haven’t noticed.

In comparison to everyone else Francesca’s makeup seems oddly modern. Now, I’m not a history person, but I feel like it was out of place, but who knows. It might be some sort of symbolic messaging that I don’t understand.

I’m cringing at Penelope watching Eloise walk away with Cressida! Then trying to hide the fact that she was doing it. She’s looking at her so longingly, at this point, she’d have a better story arch with Eloise than Colin.

The relationship between Kate and Violet is so cute. I love the dynamic.

Wow… the revolutionary woman who broke out of the molds of society, changing for a man. Of course. Couldn’t leave it to Penelope to pick a style dress SHE liked but no, only to suit the eyes of Colin. I may not like her but she needs some self confidence.

I’m so over Colin acting surprised that things have changed. Honestly, is he that close with any of his siblings? Sure, he banters with his older brothers but I hardly see them talking about anything other than his escapades or trivial matters. Now that he’s returned none of his siblings seem bothered that he’s back. Which I can somewhat sympathize with. But then again, him coming back after months away and feeling confused as to why things have changed gives away any sort of pity I had for him. If he was so concerned with what was going on back home, stay home then. It’s also not as though the relationship between Eloise and Penelope is any of his business anyway. Although for the benefit of the doubt, maybe this is his attempt at being a concerned brother and thoughtful friend.

Penelope can literally publicly trash talk Eloise under the guise of LW, her only friend mind you, but still feel entitled to have a say on who she’s friends with. If she was such an expert on friendship why is it that she is no longer friends with Eloise and has yet to make any more? Then to get so upset in public. Does she ever stop looking on the brink of tears?

I have to say, that green dress Penelope wore was IT. She was eating! I love it. Finally!!!!

Sigh… Penelope fumbled the bag once more. She’s finally in a flattering outfit only to not know what to say. It’s giving me second hand embarrassment. I can at least applaud her for trying.

Francessca can’t even talk about her own struggles without Penelope making it about her. Oh “You’re lucky for that” blah blah blah.

You know I would say something negative about her running out but that would invalidate her feelings so I’ll keep it on the low. I understand that being in a room full of people that you feel uncomfortable around is hard.

WOAH! “You miss me but you would never court me…” Girl, Colin is not obligated to love you. There are plenty of male-female friendships. Missing someone doesn’t equate to wanting to be in a relationship with them. I don’t understand why she’s acting so upset at the fact he doesn’t want her. He’s never given her any impression that he does. It would be one thing if they were exes or he was leading her on but neither is the case.

Has Penelope ever considered that perhaps that people just genuinely don’t like her personality? Changing clothes isn’t going to change your personality. She also fails to admit that changing her close did get more people to talk to her but oh no she has to play it off like she’s the victim once more.

How is admitting you won’t date someone cruel? Penelope knew that Colin doesn’t like her or else why wouldn’t he have courted her already. Just because she happened to hear him say it, that’s the final blow? Besides it’s not like he said it to her face, she was eavesdropping yet again.

Colin claiming to be a different man than he was last season feels unbelievable. What time have us as the viewers been with Colin to know that any of what he’s saying is true, much less Penelope. I feel like I have no emotional connection to Colin. We know far more about Penelope than him. I saw someone say that this is Penelope’s season and I have to agree. Despite my distaste for her, at least I know how she acts or why she behaves the way she does. Colin waltzes back into the picture and acts as though we should already know him.

This is going to be a major nitpick but Nicola blinks SO much in every scene. Like girl, I’m admittedly no actress, but you can display emotion without rapidly blinking.

I like that we’re seeing slightly more interactions with Brimsley and Charlotte. After watching Queen Charlotte I’m all for it.

Interesting that Colin feels so strongly about the lady Whistledown situation. I’m quite surprised, I wasn’t expecting him to care so much. This ought to be interesting. I wonder how Penelope will be able to talk herself out of this one.

Rainbow High Dolls/Shows Ramble pt. 2

As promised here is my list and opinions on both the dolls and characters. I didn't include any dolls that haven't been reviewed/come out yet.

Must have doll faves (not in a particular order):

Bella: When I first saw her doll way before I fell down the rainbow, I just absolutely fell in love with her design. She's the one if I only have one she's it. I like her character on the show. I hope they explain more about her return and show her interaction with her roommates and team members. I think while fans love her, I don't think she's MGA's fave (I'll say who I think it is later).

Georgia: Another, when I saw her doll I thought she was so cute. I like her second outfit the most with her. I loved they gave her a Southern accent and I hope we will see more of her. I think we will because in an Vi Life ep it said she went on a date with Emerald.

Poppy: I love Poppy's first version the best. Her overall aesthetic makes up for the fact that the first wave have shiny faces. I think her cheer look is too plain and the winter break line doesn't wow me. If they make a runway look, I'd want that doll over her og doll especially if the face was matte. I like her character for the most part. I was disappointed that she sided with Violet on the whole viral video thing.

Gabriella: Her design didn't really grab me when I saw her in the background on the show, but as a doll I really like her. I do think she's unnecessarily bitchy, but in a way her icy veneer might melt a little. She's kind like a tsundre character.

Daria: I think her doll is gorgeous and if I get her I want her to wear her second outfit, but maybe not with the heels (though I do think they are gorgeous). We don't know much about her, but I'm liking what I'm seeing. Since she's a singer, I really want to hear her.

Emi: Her face is so beautiful and I love the blends of different purples. I do wish they had put her hair to frame her face more, really utilize the Farah Fawcett hairdo better. It would make her forehead not look as large. Though, that's something a little restyling could fix. I want to see more of her in the show.

Not faves, but wouldn't mind owning them (no order):

Sheryl: I love her Clueless inspired look, but her doll didn't blow me away. If I did get her I would prefer it if she didn't have the dark lip liner. I do think she would look cute standing next to a Bella doll with their similar taste in clothes. I haven't seen enough of her yet in the show. Honestly, the girls should have washed their own clothes and Stella should have made sure to empty out her pockets.

Daphne: When I saw her in the background I got so excited about her possibly being a doll. Then I saw her doll and I wasn't blown. I do like her design, she's just not a must. She seems like she might be an interesting character in the show.

Laurel & Holly: I like their dolls, but they are very expensive as a duo set (RH in general is very expensive and I understand why). They are bitchy, but in a fascinating for onlookers kind of way.

Krystal: I like her, but I'm not loving her. I wish there was more variation in her color palette. I don't have much opinion about her character yet.

Sunny: I like her dolls better than her character. If I got her it would either be her og look or her winter break look. I did like the baby hairs they added in the runway show, but I wasn't in love with her look enough to want a possible doll version. Her personality is one I'm bad with, like she's nice but I could only take in small doses all the overly cutsey perky. I feel like her and Violet went and got bangs together. I also feel that MGA really like blunt bangs because they have at least four characters with them: Sunny, Violet, Ms. Wright, and purple background girl that has Ms. Wright's haircut. I think she needs to call Violet out more on her bs.

Jade: I think her and Bella are really cute together. Honestly, I would want her doll just so I could have Bella and Jade side by side. If I got her it would be as of now her cheerleader version, because I like the brighter lip color on her than the nude. BUT! If they come out with her runway look (or at least with black lipstick), then hands down it'd be that version and I'd move her up to my faves list. I love how she's the sweatpants and t-shirt girl, but her makeup is going to be on point.

Skyler: I like her character and I'm happy they are making her more confident in herself. If her og doll had a matte face, I'd like it better. So, if I got her it might be the cheerleader unless they come out with something better. I don't like her winter break look enough, except for those curls.

Jett Dawson: She's my favorite upperclassmen character. I hope we see more of her. If I got her doll, it'd be on clearance or something. I'd probably keep her in her box because she's got a lot to display and she cost a lot.

Amaya: I feel MGA loves her the most, because she's got the most merchandise and storylines. I wouldn't mind either one or both of her looks. If I got the white version, it'd have to be second hand because I don't care for the hair makeup. Unless, they made her runway look then I'd get that one. I loved her runway makeup on her more than the makeup-less face (don't take this as people look better with makeup) that she has with the white version. I didn't like her white hair in the show at first, but in the runway ep it looked really good. At first I wasn't crazy about the blue in show, but I liked it for her doll look. Now I like it in show and as a doll. I'm glad they didn't make her a complete replacement of Bella by having her dye her hair pink and be in set design. It's best that they went with blue and fashion, because if anyone was going to be the most forgiving of having their feet stepped on (after Sunny) it would be Skyler.

On the fence about or probably won't get

Ruby: I like Ruby as a character and I so badly want to like her dolls. While I love the color red, I just find her looks too intense. I really hope they come out with another alternative look with her in mostly black and a matte face. If I could I'd want her a black biker jacket, black pants, her flame boots, and either a white or black t-shirt. Her outfit would have a flames motif to go with her boots. Despite what Violet may think in her Vi Life, I think don't think Ruby and her are all that close. I think Ruby is closer to Jade and Skyler (mostly Jade).

Violet: I love the color of her hair. Her personality needs work and I hope they keep working on it. Unfortunately, her color palette is a bit boring. I don't love any of her doll versions. Her dress from her og look is my favorite of her clothes. I can take or leave her bangs. Part of me wants her as a doll so as not to exclude her from the rest, but the other part is do I really have to. I think MGA was originally more of a main character than what she is (because she was used a lot for promos and ep 1 starts with her and Sunny), but people find her too unlikable. If the winter break line wasn't so shiny face and I could get her in just the figure skating outfit, then that would be the version I consider of her so far.

Kia: I question her matchmaking skills with her trying to pair up Bella and Colin. First, I was like "gross, she's gay and she's already got Jade." Then, I realized that Kia obviously doesn't know the full story about Colin and Skyler or at least doesn't know that Skyler and Bella are friends. Because no way would someone date their friend's cheating ex. I wish her name wasn't spelled that way, because I keep pronouncing it the same as the car instead of as Ky-ah. I like her doll design, but I just wasn't feeling it in part due to the show and her price tag. I would like to see more of her character.

Karma: Curious about her character. Don't care for her fashion. Love her face and it makes me wish more her color wasn't so intense. I'm not sure, but it seems like her doll is taller or at least thinner than the other doll. Honestly, I'd dress her doll in a white t-shirt and jeans and most likely put her hair in a ponytail. Since she's a cheerleader, I am curious as to what her cheer look would be.

Avery (and the other As): I don't care for the As as a whole. I wouldn't really want Avery's doll in part because I don't care for the As and because I don't want all the stuff that comes with her. Though, her doll does make me wonder if in the show her hair is a wig and she actually has a pixie cut under it. I do like the As better in season 2 than in season 1 (I thought they were very suspicious). I liked that Avery took Bella out for a drive to help her feel better. I thought was funny that Aiden covered Ainsley's mouth during the play so she couldn't say something that obviously wouldn't have been G-rated to Violet. I do think they should make Ainsley and Aiden dolls so that people, who want to, can collect the As. I'd be tempted to have Ainsley or at least her clothes, because I'm really digging her look. I know Aiden is a backup QB, but his doll most definitely shouldn't have abs. He doesn't seem like the guy who works out enough or play sports enough to get abs.

Stella: I don't see myself getting her. Her color palette is really harsh to my eyes. Which is funny to me because I love my 60th anniversary Barbie (the one with the pink hair), who has a similar color palette. I think it's because of all the textures in Stella's wardrobe that makes it too much. If they gave her another color like black or white to balance the hot pink, it might be better. From what we've seen of her I don't care for her personality. I'm glad they had Bella brush her hand away when she tried to see if Bella was wearing a wig. I do think her personality adds spice to the show, but it would take a lot for me to like her.

River: Like his character so far, but not crazy for his doll. The big eyes are just a bit much and cutsey in his doll more so than in the show. From what I've seen MGA is not good at designing male dolls (doll makers in general struggle with this, but they are the worst I've seen). I do think River looks better than male OMG/LOLs and NaNaNa Surprise male dolls. To be honest it's hard to please me with male dolls. I have/had three male dolls (non-action figures and figurines) in my entire life so far. I do like his second doll outfit and can't wait to see it in the show. I do like him and Amaya together. I think they make a cute couple and I like how in awe of her he was during the fashion show.

A scene you found creepy (even when you knew it was coming): Nagini uses a corpse as a mask.

For any Potter heads. Some things that bothered you about the Harry Potter films:

- Where is Charlie Weasley?

- Where is Peeves?

- Where are Neville’s parents?

- The green/blue/brown eye thing. (This is not against Radcliffe. Some special effects could have fixed this easily)

- HarrY DiD YOu PuT YoUR NaMe IN tHe GoBlET of FIRE?! 🔥

- In Sorcerers Stone, Why did you change the snake at the zoos breed??

- “Voldemort” versus “Voldemor”. The silent t.

- Hermione’s. Yule. Ball. Dress. Color. Blue. Not pink. She specifically changed the color.

- Fluffy. Hagrid’s adorable Cerberus was originally bought from a Greek man. Why change it to Irish? I like Ireland but it was a Greek man due to where Cerberus’s initially came from right???

- Harry’s first Weasley sweater color

- Why does Harry only see his parents in the Mirror of Eirsed? Where’s the rest of the family?

- The Underage magic rules aren’t well explained in the movies making the 3rd year summons even more bonkers sounding

- The Patil Twins Yule Ball Outfits. They could have been soooo beautiful. Like this is the Yule Ball! The Twins would have (in my opinion) much more elaborate traditional Indian styled dress robes?? Idk.

- Love Movie Hermione! But some moments take away from Ron. Like when Ron defended her in the Chamber of Secrets. Hermione didn’t know what the slur “Mudblood” meant in the books. Ron had to explain it.

- Dobby needed more screen time. Some stuff Dobby did went to Neville because so many Neville scenes were cut.

- Where’s all the secrecy from the books when communicating with Sirius- “Snuffles”? Something Harry’s godfather insisted on to keep him safe.

- Snape’s title of “The half-blood Prince” is not explained. Neither is it made clear that Severus was also abused horribly at home throughout his childhood. Also that like Harry Dumbledore did nothing to help Severus when he was a student. (Or maybe Tom Riddle when he grew up in an orphanage. I’m sensing a pattern)

- Dumbledore should have still spelled Harry during Dumbledore death scene. No way would Harry just stand there if given the choice.

- Ron was not quite as ‘dumb’ in the books and a lot of his funny moments were cut from the movie. Which makes his jealousy moments all the more unbecoming. He also comes off a bit more arrogant in the movies. (This is not against R Grint. Who is awesome) The movies gave Ron the short end of the stick.

- Weasley/Malfoy Fued. Who else wanted to see Arthur and Lucius have a fist fight in a bookstore? Exactly.

- Albus Dumbledore isn’t all Sunshine and Daisys. He does some really messed up stuff yet no one ever seems to question this.

- Remus was the last Marauder. Yet his and his wife, Tonk’s, deaths are barley acknowledged.

- Also Teddy. Harry’s Godson.

- Harry’s and Ginnys relationship is not built on. It’s just there. Ugh. Heck Movie Ginny isn’t that great. You don’t know much about her except: She’s the only girl in Ron’s family. She’s the youngest Weasley. She’s obsessed with Harry. She’s a good Quidditch player. She has a temper. She was possessed by Riddle’s Dairy when she was eleven. She’s obsessed with Harry.

- Draco is essentially Harry’s antithesis. Where is he in some critical scenes in the movies?

- Where’s the Luna love???? Harry’s pretty rude to her in some scenes.

- There is no S.P.E.W. And Hermione’s more ruthless side is gone.

- The guys hair in The Goblet of Fire. Get a hair cut. Please.

- Some of Molly’s less than Stellar Moments. (Ex. When she believed rumors about Hermione and so treated he coldly. How horrible she was to Fleur. Ect)

- Fleur. Fleur and Bill still get married but the objections to the wedding aren’t as presented in the movies. Not is Molly’s and Ginny’s extreme dislike of Fleur. Or when Arthur apologizes to Fleur. Or really any of Fleurs best moments. The whole courting process is skipped.

- House Elves. The House Elves of Hogwarts.

- Percy Weasley. The ‘betrayal’. The returned Weasley sweater. Him turning to protect his family and fight for Hogwarts at the last minute. All gone. Which involves being forgiven by the Weasley Twins not an hour before Fred dies.

- The connection of the Black sisters. Specifically Adromeda - mother of Tonks. Who is Sirius cousin. Who married Remus Lupin. Tonks and Remus the parents of Teddy.

- Dean Thomas is pretty much gone.

- Rita Skeeter. Illegal Animagus. Hermione kept her in a jar.

- The movies didn’t allow Radcliffe to be sassy and sarcastic enough. Harry Potter is one of the sassiest boys to ever walk through the halls of Hogwarts!

- Harry didn’t fix his wand in the last movie.

- The history of the Marauders.

- The history explaining why Snape could never be comfortable around and trust Remus Lupin.

Fic: Even Better Than the Real Thing (1/15)

Summary: College AU/Famous!Blaine and Fanboy!Kurt - Kurt POV 

Kurt really doesn’t have time to figure out the dating world between being a freshman at prestigious theatre school, LAADA,  and his active but secret blogging life in the Sing!Fandom. So what if Sing! ended last year? There are still fics to read and actors to follow. Especially the uber talented heartthrob lead, Blaine Anderson. He can act. He can sing. He can even dance. He’s gay. He’s out. And he’s only 24. Kurt is willing to twiddle his thumbs and click refresh until Blaine Anderson’s next project.

He just didn’t expect the next project to be on his roommate Rachel’s new TV show.

Even Better Than the Real Thing

“Disappointing my female fans hasn’t been a problem. My character’s straight, I’m gay, and they’re cool with that. And also remember that for every female fan who might be disappointed, maybe there’s a gay kid out there who realizes that there’s a place for him in Hollywood.” - Blaine Anderson, Actor on Sing!, age 22

Kurt puts the final edits on his blog post  - “The privileges and pitfalls of playing straight for an out gay actor: Quotes from Blaine Anderson’s interviews”, before hitting post on his tumblr.  

While Kurt appreciates Blaine Anderson’s idealism, he’s pretty sure that Blaine’s gay guy fans are just happy to have some intelligent eye candy that actually plays for their team. One of Kurt’s greatest fandom moments was attending the Comicon panel for the Sing! finale when a fan around his age got up to the mic, so nervous that he just blurted out “I just love you so much, Blaine. You’re so beautiful.” Without missing a beat, Blaine Anderson smiled that charming, warm smile and said, “You’re not so bad yourself. And thank you. Hey, who knows if we were meeting up at a friend’s party in a different time, instead of these circumstances, who knows what might’ve been,” - to the utter delight of the screaming crowd. Everyone knows it’s all tongue in cheek and Blaine’s a flirt, that he knows he’s a heartthrob, but it’s sure nice to have a crushworthy celebrity all out and proud.

The Sing! fandom for Kurt was a welcome escape from Lima, Ohio, right from the comfort of his own living room couch.  For once he was being appreciated for his intelligence and sharp wit, rather than mocked for being the only out gay kid in his high school. He wasn’t going to change his sophisticated and maybe deliberately provocative fashion sense just to appease the football team hamhocks in baggy grey sweatpants. And when he occasionally posted a personal picture of his outfits on his blog, his fandom was always appropriately in awe. Kurt - well, Kurt as LimaBlaineFan that is - has his own little following thanks to his thoughtful, no bullshit analyses of all things Sing!. So of course when he moved to LA he wasn’t going to give all that up. Fandom is the most transportable social life in the world.

Now that he’s finally out of Nowheresville, Ohio, accepted to LAADA, his roommate and now new break out actress, Rachel, keeps encouraging him  to finally get himself out there and meet an actual person whom he could really date  - ”Come on, Kurt. I am telling you, those abs need to be appreciated!” to which he quips that she does sufficient appreciating for the entire city of LA. He really doesn’t have time, though, between all his school work and his active but secret fandom life - So what if Sing! ended last year? There are still fics to read and actors to follow.  He’s never had a boyfriend, never had the option, he wouldn’t know where to start. He’s pretty content to learn musical theatre and bide his time until his celebrity crush’s next project. It’s much easier.

Kurt does a final read over his post, hits submit on his tumblr, and watches the likes and reblogs tick up. Within five minutes, the inevitable questions and comments start to roll in.

-Hi LimaBlaineFan - love your post! Don’t forget about the time Blaine said at the GLAAD event that he can’t wait to play a gay character.

-Lol you idiot. Blaine is straight. He’s queerbaiting for brownie points.

-OMG thank you for your post! It just reminds me how brave and amazing our Blaine is! Sending hugs!!!

-Do you think Blaine will ever work again? He took a risk by coming out and we haven’t heard anything since Sing! ended?

Kurt shuts his laptop, mostly amused and mildly irritated with the trolls and the worriers. He sits up, spotting Rachel’s latest script for episode 3 of her new TV show, That’s So Rachel, on the coffee table. Yes, she got a lead role in a show straight out of their high school in Lima, Ohio. Yes, it’s kind of infuriating. But Kurt got into LAADA, one of the most highly coveted theatre schools in the country, so he can’t really complain.  He knows her scripts are super top secret on threat of death (or at least Rachel being fired) but she’s the one who left it out, and besides, he’s her roommate, and it’s right there. No harm in glancing over.

Kurt freezes. He blinks and looks again. And again. Blaine Anderson. Has been cast in Rachel’s show.

“Rachel?!” Kurt can feel his heart racing as he calls out to his roommate, almost dropping her script on the floor. “Rachel?” He says more quietly, trying to sound reasonable. “Can I ask you something?”

Rachel pokes her head out of her bedroom. Kurt is standing by their green velvet couch in the centre of their apartment, hand on his hip, trying to look as regular as is humanly possible in this potentially crisis level situation. “What is it?” Kurt holds up the script.

“I know, right! Barbra and Patti! I mean the producers told me it would only be an all star cast. But to think they got my literal idols to play my moms- It is above and beyond. I haven’t met them yet, of course, but we’re just starting to film episode three on Tuesday and-”

“Your love interest?” Kurt interrupts as disinterested as possible. 

“Oh. Oh yeah,” Rachel glances at the script in his hand. “Blaine Anderson, right? Supposed to be a good actor. He’s cute, too. I think he was on that Sing! show you loved.”

“Yeah,” Kurt nods casually. “I think he was.” Kurt knows that generally Rachel has no idea about his online fandom life. She knew he loved the show, watched it religiously each week, that he sometimes read an online “forum” with spoilers. Tumblr? What’s a tumblr? She had asked him once. But it is now confirmed just how limited her understanding is. 

Kurt lets out a deep breath. Thank God.

“I’m meeting him Tuesday,” Rachel says as she checks her complexion in the mirror and turns back to Kurt with her usual exaggerated flare. “I’ll let you know if he’s a good kisser,” She winks before grabbing the script out of Kurt’s hand. “And no spoilers! That’s top secret intel.”
