So I finished the BG3 after doing every side mission I could find. And.... I have feelings
So I played with the poly mod, so I romanced everyone but Lae'zel and Shadowheart who I couldn't get the romance to start for. I also had the mod that lets me have all the companions with me, so I don't know how or if that changes the ending cut scenes.
But first off, the endings were way too short. I heavily dislike endings that have you fight the final battle, give you a cut scene, then end. Give us a little something after to come down from the high of the victory and see the happiness of the ending we fought so hard for.
Speaking of happiness; I can't say I'm happy with anyone's endings. I told Lae'zel she should go back to her people cause I know that's what she's wanted this whole time, so she left to free her people. This was in my opinion the happiest companion ending I got, even though it's still bitter sweet and doesn't feel like theirs closure cause she still has to fight to free her people with no time to rest.
Astarion just started to burn in the sun and ran off, then Shadowheart was like "poor guy, no more sun for him" then I never saw him again. Kinda shitty considering everything he fought for and the fact I was in a relationship with him. And it's not like the ending just picked one of my love interests to give the ending for, since all my other partners acknowledged me as their partner in their cut scenes (more on that in a moment).
Gale just stood at the edge of the doc and was like "the crown fell into the water. Guess I gotta find it" and then talked about his ex some more before saying we'll do it together. Didn't like that his arch was left open ended as well with him still afflicted with the orb AND wanting to return to Mystra who is terrible for so many reasons.
I got nothing for Shadowheart, and I don't know if Wyll can have his own scene, but his was lumped in with Karlach's for mine. Karlach is dying, her engine burning up, and she says she loves me and is glad we could be together. Wyll was really upset and yells "my love, we have to get her back to avernus! It's the only way to save her". Karlach didn't want to go back, but we convinced her and tell her we will be there with her and will protect her till we find a way to cure her. The three of us go to avernus and it ends with us about to fight imps and I guess I'm in a poly with the two of them, which I didn't know was an option, but them both referring to me as their love in that cut scene was a scripted thing so I don't think it was cause of the mod. Either way, I hated that at the end of the game, we haven't cured Karlach and now she's back in avernus. All her endings seem to suck as, spoiler, she either dies, returns to avernus, or becomes a mind flayer and has to live in hiding. So all of her endings suck.
I hated how none of the characters felt like they got a good resolution or much closure. There wasn't a sense of happiness or real victory. That kinda thing can work in DND cause the campaign can keep going, but in a video game, where there is no way to move forward, it seriously sucks. I put 300+ hours into this game, made so many choices to ensure my companions were safe and happy, tried to get them each the best ending I could without looking up too many spoilers, and in the end, they each get 3-5 minute cut scenes where their main character quest is unfinished and left in limbo? That just feels really crushing and disheartening as a gamer. In my next playthrough, why bother trying to help Karlach? She'll still be uncured by the end. Gale's just going to go back to his abusive god or maybe still blow up. Who knows. Astarion will still be hiding in the shadows, stuck as a spawn forever.
Over all, it just kinda sucked that not one of them felt like their arch got wrapped up/resolved.

okay I'm like... a stranger things fan in that i enjoy the show but don't really engage with it very deeply (because it is VERY straight and somewhat predictable and hey, kudos to all the people who subvert it with fanfiction, which i also enjoy, but it's not something i want to write for)
BUT
i am also a huge fear street trilogy fan, fucking adore those movies, and lately my brain won't stop thinking about a stranger things au with the fear street characters
not everything fits neatly one-to-one, but here are a few ideas:
the main thing i got stuck on was the idea of cindy and alice kind of serving as a steddie parallel (so no alice until s4, sadly, but w/e), except i'd keep their backstory from 1978 - in that they used to be best friends, until cindy decided to try to live up to her rich, absentee parents' expectations, alienating herself from both alice and ziggy; cue ultimate Drama for their s4 reunion, when alice has been accused of murder and cindy is trying to keep all the kids safe
deena and sam being mike and el? look, i do think byler is adorable, but i also love the idea of the 90s baby lesbians being the mike/el parallel. deena is (i think) strong-willed enough to be the 'mike' in this situation, while sam is the one who's escaped the lab
kate is dustin. full stop. she's a straight-a student but she's also a massive nerd, and is assertive enough to kidnap cindy and get her to help in s2
i haven't really figured out who would be Nancy in this scenario bc even though Cindy is Steve (down to the polo shirt), she's also a lot like Nancy. so i guess she's like. a fusion of them
at some point Cindy and Alice have a heart to heart, where Alice admits that she wishes she could do what Cindy did so that it would get her out of shadyside, but that she's convinced that the town is cursed (by vecna rather than Satan, but yeah) and so gave up on that. Cindy admits that she's had crippling self doubt all the while and isn't convinced she'll ever be able to leave either
meanwhile, in California, deena has to be physically held back from going after sam's bullies; when Sam slams a roller blade into Main Bully's face, deena walks out holding sam's hand, and she might as well be holding a sign that says "i love my girlfriend and am proud of her"
"violence is bad, deena." "shut the fuck up - you did great, Sam"
ziggy and max are A LOT alike (beyond just being played by sadie sink), so ziggy is vecna's target, and Cindy is going feral trying to find ways to keep both her and Alice safe
(cue a lot of guilt from Cindy because how did she not notice, how did she not realize just how bad it had gotten for her sister)
i don't think i would put nick goode into the story, exactly, but i would probably say "hey when you're picturing one, picture the guy who played adult Nick/Solomon goode". man does a good job being a creep
hard to say who the other adults would be in this story, bc fear street was (purposefully) bereft of actual adults. sorry jopper. it kinda plays into the theme of adults not really being reliable in actual tough situations, so I'm not too upset about it, though
ngl I'm leaning towards Ruby Lane being 8? maybe nurse lane can be the only adult, trying to figure out what happened to her daughter
uhhhh... hmm. Tommy was Cindy's bf for a while, and he's genuinely a good dude, unwittingly gets involved in s2, does his best to help out. unfortunately, i think he also ends up being the mind flayer's avatar in s3 (I'm putting poor Cindy through the ringer I'm so sorry)
this would require A LOT of character development that i would have to build myself but I'm kinda leaning towards arnie being Cindy's Robin? they both end up working at scoops, and bc Cindy knows he's dating Alice (Alice and Arnie do genuinely like each other and like dating, but it's more of a bi4bi arrangement), but Arnie is generally pretty chill around her and Cindy eventually relaxes. they bond during the Russians stuff and arnie comes out as bi, and Cindy is like "cool"
we've got Josh and Simon to round out the Party
okay I'll admit it, i have no fucking clue who any of the byers are in this scenario. genuinely zero idea. aaaand with that, that's all i got
(this is 90% because Cindy/Alice makes me sad and i want them to be happy; no Alice does NOT die, she gets badly hurt but she lives)

I have some issues with the new season of stranger things, but I'm choosing to ignore all of them in favor of pointing out how funny it is that number one, who went on this whole rant about how strong he is or whatever, had his ass banished to the shadow realm by eleven when she was like eight, and keeps cringe failing at getting revenge
Like, how many times can you get bodied by the same middle schooler before you die of embarrassment

Hey, if requests are open, can we pretty please get some Jonathan and Will with a sister/sibling (middle sibling) who is kinda a good balance for both of them? I just would like to see your take on a dynamic like this! Thank you!
I like this concept a lot :) This will be the only thing I write tonight since I'm recovering from surgery.
Tumblr media
For days, I could sense the overwhelming weight and sadness taking over my younger brother, his eyes sunken in and a permanent frown etched on his face. I know that he won't come clean that it's about Will, that his whole speech about how El probably feels like an outsider with no one to understand her was just a way for him to communicate how he feels without actually saying it.
But unlike Jonathan, Will doesn't need to actually say anything to me, I just know.
He's never really fit in with anyone, even the group and all of their games over the years. With the Mind-Flayer and the Upsidedown invading Hawkins, making my youngest brother its prime target, it only made him and our family stick out more. He has never been able to go out without people looking at him or itching to ask him questions.
That's why the move to California was possibly the best decision that my mom ever made from us, aside from leaving all of our friends and the rest of our 'group'. It gave all of a chance to start new, gave Will and El a new place to really make a name for themselves outside of our conservative town, but it also let Jonathan and I make new friends and try new things.
"So, do you like it?" Jonathan asks, leaning against his headboard as I let the smoke billow out from between my lips, watching it seep into the air and blow out the window in a moments notice. I cough a bit with a small smile, giving him a stern nod. "Good, Argyle got it from his guy last week and then totally forgot to give it to me." He snorts, taking a hit off the bong with a doped out smile and hazy eyes.
"So," I pause, flopping back down onto the bed as I watch the fan spin back and forth, "you gotta stop giving Will dating advice." I huff, giving him a pointed look as he scoffs, holding his hands up in feigned offense.
"My dating advice is great!" He shakes his head, brows firmly pulled together in an attempt to make himself believe his words but he can't be any further from the truth. It's an unspoken rule in this household to not come outright and talk about Will's struggles with sexuality and who he likes. It's already confusing for him to think about let alone talk about so we've steered pretty clear of talking about it when he's upset.
But lately Jonathan keeps trying to play match-maker and get him out in the world which, if he could have a successful relationship, I'd appreciate the thought. But given his weird relationship with Nancy, I don't trust a word of advice that comes out of his mouth.
I say that with all the love and respect in the world.
"You guys play for different teams! It doesn't help when you're giving him tips on how to woo people and you use the words 'boobs' every other sentence." My head tilts with a deadpanned smile, giving him somewhat of a condescending look that he calls 'the Joyce'.
"That's fair- alright." He sighs, his eyes fluttering shut as he pulls the bong up to his lips once more, lighting it and taking a deep breath before going to argue once more. "But-"
"Mike's ignoring my calls." His rebuttal is cut short by Will storming into Jonathan's room, red in the face and angry tears lining his lashline. Immediately, I sit up, sobering up quickly as I'm filled with unadulterated rage.
"Is he answering El-" I start but he cuts me off with a scoff.
"Of course he is." He huffs, his hands hitting his sides after he throws them up in the air, his hair falling in his eyes as he looks down at the ground and I can practically hear his heart pound out of anxiety from ten feet away.
"Then he's a dick- ignore him bubs, come take part in the illegal with us!" I laugh, trying to turn the tension to laughter but he just shakes his head, ignoring my comment all together.
"I just don't understand how he could just be my best friend for all of those years and then get a girlfriend and drop only me and not any of the rest of them." His voice quivers, eyes looking to me for support but I just frown deeply, my shoulders deflating in disappointment that he has to deal with this at such a young age.
"If he cares enough to talk to El and not you, when you're the same distance away, then maybe it's not worth it. Mike's always been kind of an airhead dude- I always liked Dustin more." Jonathan laughs, pointing a finger at our younger brother as he finally cracks a half smile, stepping towards the bed as I pat the spot beside me.
"C'mere." I whisper, wrapping my arm around Will as he slides down onto the bed, turning into a bundle of mush the minute I side hug him. "I know that it upsets you that he doesn't care- or it seems like he doesn't care- but remember that you're way more in touch with your feelings than he is." I look down at him, brushing his bangs from his face as he nods, not completely believing me but he stays quiet and lets me continue. "You're not a dumb boy like he is. So maybe just drop him for a bit, spend more time with us and less time worrying about what he's doing and who he's talking to." I offer and he nods, his eyes a bit more brighter than they were before and I can hear the words 'hard to get' playing over and over in his mind. Make him work for it, Will.
"Sounds like you're giving dating advice." Jonathan snorts, pulling the marijuana away from his lips as his eyes widen in accidental embarrassment. "Shit, sorry man, that wasn't a joke or anything-"
"Boy advice is boy advice whether it's a friend or not a friend." I cut him off, quieting his high rant as quickly as it can come out before looking to our brother, rubbing his back gently. "You gotta be a good friend before you can be a good boyfriend or girlfriend so this all applies, got it?" I ask, my eyes flickering back and forth between his as he smiles sadly, giving me a simple nod.
"Got it."
"Now lay here and get the second hand smoke, we'll take care of you." I laugh, forcing him to lay down as his eyes flutter shut, his back hitting the mattress moments later as he takes a deep breath.
"I don't trust you guys." He whispers, looking at me specifically and I gasp, looking to Jonathan for support but he just snorts and sends our brother a wink.
"You shouldn't."

I just saw someone say that Will's problem is him "lashing out" at people he cares about because of his trauma/internalized homophobia/unrequited love for mike and can be selfish.. and I had to put my phone down for a second because how can you grossly misconstrue a character and his arc and his struggles so bad ??Will only somewhat lashes out in the case someone else(namely mike) starts an argument.. Mike was the one ignoring will and trying to conform all throughout season 3 and will had every right to be upset; mike didn't care and didnt know where dustin was and was all of a sudden was ignoring the whole party to spend time with El. This doesn't make mike a bad person but we KNOW mike didn't just "grow out of" DnD, he was trying to be someone he wasn't and will has emotional intelligence, he knows Mike, he knew that so obviously he was gonna call him out on it. And he never even mentions playing DnD ever again in s3 and AGAIN minimizes his personal struggles because he doesn't think they're important compared to the bigger UD related problems. And then at rink o mania, he only confronts El because she's lying and he doesn't understand why??? And he's her brother obvi he's gonna be concerned if she's lying about her situation at school to the guy who's supposed to be her bf. And then Mike blames HIM?? And ofc will is gonna defend himself and then later will was ready to accept the blame if it weren't for mike apologizing. In literally no situation does will lash out unprovoked, people just see him defend himself and call it a character flaw. It's actually kinda funny cuz it's literally the opposite of his actual flaws. He constantly puts himself last and has so much self loathing that he ends up making stuff worse(see: El and Mike's dying relationship, mind flayer stuff) to try to help and not seem like a burden or a perpetual victim. Jonathan also has a similar problem w him lying to Nancy Abt college(even if he's doing it bc he thinks he needs to take care of his family and let Nancy do her own thing w/o him potentially dragging her behind) and will eventually hurt the people he loves bc he's giving up on his dreams.. wills arc is about coming into his own and learning to love himself.. and not just "stop being mad and getting over his crush on mike" or whatever the fuck lol. Needless to say s5 is gonna hit like a brick for some people 🤷‍♀️
It never comes from a place of malice it's only when he gets pushed too far. People make shit up about Will everyday and it never makes any sense. S5 actually can't come soon enough so these people can stop making terrible takes on Will's character.

Headcanons for being a Party Member
Stranger Kids x reader
warnings:
a/n: 💖💖 these ones were kind bad but i hope you like!
prompt: anonymous: “Hi! Can you make a headcannon for Stranger Things of just being in the party? Sorry if its too vague. Thank you so much for giving us so much free content!!”
Tumblr media
you’ve known the boys for a long, long time
your mom was friends with joyce in high school, so you knew will your whole life
he introduced you to mike and soon lucas and dustin had joined the mix
let’s face it, you guys weren’t the most popular, but as long as you had each other it was fine
“at recess do you want to play castle?”
“yes! but we need to make up our characters”
will the wise was born that day, it just stuck
you guys were obsessed with star wars when it came out
“i’d totally be a jedi” -mike
“mike, you’d cry at the sight of any alien creature”
“not true!”
“i think lucas would be a kickass pilot, though”
“i’d get the princess, too” -lucas
dustin ended up playing lightsabers with you, though
you’ve accidentally knocked down tons of stuff in mike’s basement
“cut it out, you guys!”
“soooorryyyyy”
“you are not!”
AV club was just the 5 of you acting afool under adult supervision
mr. clark was still proud of your young minds, though
D&D campaigns, you were the rogue
you were also easily distracted during the game
“anyone want chips, im gonna get some chips”
“no! you can’t leave now!”
“watch me”
playing with mike’s toys while he’s not looking
battling them with lucas, dustin, and will
until mike started protesting
bike rides around town until sunset
SLEEPOVERS
“who the hell is snoring?”
“i think it’s dustin”
“PILLOW FIGHT!!!”
“kids, time to sleep!” -any parent
“let’s watch a scary movie”
“no! i mean—i’m tired” -mike
depending on which house you were staying in, you’d have a great time
will’s brother, jonathan, was always nice to you
nancy...not so much
“hi na—” *door slams* “oh...”
erica always intruded on your sleepovers at lucas’s
“i wanna play! can i play?”
“no, erica, go play somewhere else”
“you’re so mean, lucas”
“bye!”
dustin didn’t have any siblings, but he did have a cat who was pretty nice
“hi mews!”
the night will disappeared was a night you’ll never forget
you were so determined to find him, he had to be around somewhere
you ended up getting in deeper water than you’d originally thought when you met eleven, who apparently had superpowers
“mike!!! you’re mom is gonna kill you for bringing a random girl in the house”
“i know! shhhhh”
she was weird to say the least
and it was pretty scary sneaking around with her
“dude...she has the force”
“shut up!”
after a long week of fighting with your friends and encountering inter dimensional monsters and the government, you realized your life would never be the same
your mom was pretty protective over you for a while
the party had to come to your house instead for the next few months
“sorry guys, she’s just...really upset about the whole thing”
“it’s okay, y/n. we don’t mind”
being each other’s support system
especially when it came to will, he really worried you guys
“today is will’s doctor visit, hope it goes okay...”
spending HOURS in the arcade, struggling to beat other people’s high scores
“i’m gonna do it! i’m gonna get the top score!”
“in your dreams, y/n”
hAlLoWeEn
you knew you weren’t supposed to dress up at school but no one was paying attention to you when you told them
unfortunate.
there was a new girl who mike hated right off the bat
but lucas and dustin wouldn’t stop fighting over
“you two are the worst, you know that?”
trick or treating and dumping your candy later on to trade, the most effective way to get the best halloween
“nougat, disgusting. anybody want it? i’ll give it to you for free”
*dustin and you simultaneously* “ME!”
dustin’s “pet lizard” scaring the hell out of you
“dart makes me...uncomfortable”
max pulling you aside to ask why mike hates her
“uh...he’s a dick? i don’t know”
you and max ended up getting along pretty okay, though
she did complain about mike a LOT though
and when lucas filled her in on the demogorgon/upside-down/eleven situation, EVERYONE was pissed
you guys realized that the upside down stuff was not over and there was an epic teamup with all of you yaaaay
steve harrington adopted you it’s true
eleven came back
that was cool
you gave her a hug bc like duh??? you missed her
steve babysitting you guys and then getting beat up by max’s stepbrother, billy
“can i hit him? i wanna hit him”
“do it!”
doing dumbass shit in the tunnels that ended up working out anyways! yay!
“we’re all gonna die we’re all gonna die oh my god i’m too young to die”
“Y/N STOP”
in the end everything was (mostly) okay but like, that was scarring
summer rolled around and el and mike were dating, max and lucas were dating, and dusting came back from camp and claimed to be dating some girl from faaaar away
“liar”
“i’m not lying!”
steve sneaking you into movies
he also gave you (and only you) free ice cream but only bc he knew you wouldn’t tell anyone else
robin and you talking while you hid in the break room to eat your ice cream
“so...what do you do for fun”
“kill monsters”
“oh...okay”
kinda sick of the party’s shit for a while, so dustin and you were off scheming with the scoops employees
bad ideaaaa!! the russians!! you were almost killed!!
rescue mission for steve and robin
“they’re high as shit”
“nO YOu aRe”
“wonderful, we’re screwed”
losing them fhdhdhsh
“y/n?!”
“what? i’m not a babysitter!”
being chased by russians but also the rest of the party showing up and updating you but also adults finally making an appearance and you wanting to cry because like what the fuck is happening
being chased by the mind flayer
“GUYS IF WE DONT MAKE IT I WANT YOU ALL TO KNOW I LOVE YOU”
“Y/N. STOP SAYING THINGS THAT MAKE US THINK WE’RE GOING TO DIE”
eek that night sucked
you also almost fell down the hill that cerebro was placed on
and then uhhh hopper died so that was really bad and will ended up moving away with el and everyone was very sad
your mom cried when joyce left :(
you cried way too much
might i add going over to lucas’s to hang out with erica bc now you guys are friends lmaooo
“why are you here, y/n?”
“erica wanted me to come over”
“you two are impossible”
and to end this on a high note, the remaining party members in town were finally working through their differences as you all grew up and knew that it’d be impossible to separate for good
also pizza nights every week (sometimes accompanied by an older teen bc why not)
“if you guys eat all the damn pizza we’re gonna have a problem”
“we can’t help it! we’re growing!”

So I went to this^ the Stranger Things Drive-Into Experience recently, and it was..... totally awesome!!! (in my opinion, but I’m very easily entertained though so🤷‍♀️) Here’s my run-through/review for anyone that can’t go to the dang thing🤗
But I will be spoiling some things from the experience/possible hints they gave about s4, so if you’re planning to go before it closes out or just not into spoilers *scroll awaayyyyy my friend*
~Long Post Alert~
********************************************
Alrighty then! So, when you scan you’re ticket they tune you in to a radio station that is broadcasting the show. And first thing you see after you get ushered into the numerous lanes is the CAMARO😱
Tumblr media
Complete with tire smoke and conveniently placed in front of the Scoops Ahoy sign🤔😏 But this is supposed to be like you’re driving up to the mall with all the shit going on at the end of s3
Except when you pull up to their actual “mall” they have this (kinda goofy) pre-show deal hosted by a Mr. Clarke lookalike and some very enthusiastic Jazzercise people. And since you’re supposed to be at Starcourt, they have this little menu of themed concessions (mostly Scoops stuff🍦) that you can have delivered to the car.
Tumblr media
Anyway, the show is cute- they’ve got Will, Mike, Lucas, El and Max talking to Mr. Clarke and doing trivia for the audience. Not to mention that the kids come out and interact with the cars. Max waved awkwardly at us and it was great lol
THEN when you get the go ahead, you tune into another radio station with Murray telling you what’s up. Basically, Russians have infiltrated Hawkins and Starcourt Mall, opened a gate and the gang (basically just Scoops Troop) is trying to fix things.
You drive up through a parking garage, and the first level you stop at is the Russian lab.🚨
Then Steve and Robin come out and try to shut down the big machine or whatever and have to hide from the Russian soldiers. Dustin drives a little cart around in circles yelling wildly, a demogorgon comes out and starts terrorising cars.....
I actually didn’t pay that much attention cause a Russian guard dude was teasing me for having a snack while I watched the show, tried to get the demogorgon to come scare me specifically, and it ended up chasing him away😂
And STEVE HARRINGTON FLIRTED WITH ME!!😫😭😍 it was great, before they closed out this part of the show his voiceover did the “ahoy ladies” bit and the guy playing Steve was all winking at me and did the ‘call me’🤙 thing~ I was honestly distracted the rest of the show cause all I could think was I FLIRTED WITH STEVE HARRINGTON😱💖🤯
Tumblr media
NEXT you drive into the upside dooowwwnn *spooky* they’ve got the black vines, blue lighting, and fake snow acting as those little white floaties😯
They direct you to pull up in front of a big screen where you watch a montage of Will being lost in the upside down and possesed by the mind flayer (a recap of the upsetting parts of seasons 1 & 2)
Then everything turns RED, they start playing the haunting synth theme of the flayed in season 3 and there’s another shorter montage of Billy getting flayed and people melting into the flesh monster (I think? again, I’m already distracted by what happened with Steve and I was mostly trying to focus on every little deta about Billy at this point lol)
Tumblr media
And for the finale, you pull up on the roof of this parking garage which is decked out to look like the inside of Brimborn Steelworks😳
Since we were the last car in the whole fucking crowd we missed the first half of Billy’s monologue😒 but it was when he was talking to El, the “we built this for you” speech which is just extra haunting when it’s blaring through your car speakers...
Then Eleven rises through the air and spins down, like she was falling through the void⬛️ (it was awesome) and you watch another montage all about El’s story: her captivity at the lab and with Brenner, escaping and meeting the boys, everything with the gate- it’s really just a recap of the show but it’s cool cause they act a lot of it out in front of the screens.
There’s this cute bit where there’s several different sets of actors playing Hopper & El, and they act out all the things they did while cleaning up and then living in the cabin~🧹🕺👻
Then Billy comes back all fully possesed and with a vengeance, and here’s where I freaked a little, it looks like they have a battle of powers !!!!!!! Like, Billy has his hand outstretched towards El and she gets pushed down to the ground by an unseen force, until she gathers her strength and fights back.
I was distracted by Billy having telekinesis there for a minute so the next thing I knew, he was floating up in the air and we had to watch him die😞 and Max came out sobbing, and there was hugging and scoops troop came out to comfort the kids- and I think Billy just disappeared(? which, rude)
Then Dustin and Suzie performed never ending story ah aah ahh ah aah ahh ah aah aaaaahhh✨😐
And the cars start to exit, but there was this video playing that looked like security camera footage of the “LYNX mall delivery guys” aka Russians loading an unconscious Hopper into a van in the mall parking lot🚐 😲
Also worth noting that the exit song was Enola Gay by Orchestral Manouvers in the Dark, and the VIBE of that song just fit stranger things so well ohmygod I’m still floored it was so good🎶
On your way out you go buy merch and it gets delivered to your car, I got an authentic scoops hat which is honestly super comfortable🤓⚓️ and then you can (kinda anticlimactically) take a picture of the stranger things logo (which we did and got yelled at for taking too long trying to get our lopsided Polaroid oops😬📸)
Tumblr media
And that was my experience👍 If anyone else went and has points/details I missed PLEASE share cause ya know...Steve ‘The Hair’ Harrington fried my brain, so 😅

Steve Harrington x Plus size!reader
Word Count: 1696 words
Warnings: Angsty
Summary: Reader is bothered about Steve’s relationship with Nancy after they split up. The only problem is, he can’t figure out what’s going on with her.
———————————————————————————————————
You knew how hard it was for Steve to see Nancy and Jonathan together but as bad as you felt for him, you knew the feeling all too well.
The relationship you had with Steve had always been a complicated one and no one, including you, really knew where you stood. That being said, you knew how he felt because that was the same way you were made to feel when he started flirting with Nancy.
You felt like he tossed you to the side because she was prettier and thinner and better than you. Even though Steve didn’t think of it like that, it was more or less the truth as far as you were concerned.
But none of that mattered now.
The Mind Flayer was going to kill you all if you didn’t do something and the complicated intermingling of love triangles wasn’t doing anything for you. That monster didn’t care if Steve liked Nancy or if you liked Steve. It didn’t matter if Jonathan loved her or if he loved you or anything.
The only thing that any of you could think about now was not dying.
That didn’t make hiding out any easier though, because all you had to focus on was each other and that made silence difficult.
“Do you think this will work?” you could hear his voice behind your back, Steve, but you wanted to ignore him. You were angry at him for acting like you were invisible very time Nancy made an appearance.
You were his girlfriend now, not her and while you understood that he’d loved her for a long time before you...she’s made her choice.
If she wanted Steve, she would have been with him when she had the chance. As far as you were concerned, she didn’t deserve Steve at his best anyway because as amazing as he was, she didn’t appreciate it.
“I don’t know, why don’t you go ask Nancy?” you suggested, your voice full of spite. You knew it wasn’t fair but at this point, you didn’t care.
The two of you could be killed tomorrow and the only thing your boyfriend cared about was another girl. How were you not supposed to be angry about that?
“Wow, are you okay?” he asked, not sure where the hostility came from. He should have been able to guess but there had been so much stuff going on, that he hadn’t really noticed your subtle pouting.
You almost couldn’t believe he’d asked. Steve was really going to make you spell it out for him...well, that was just too bad because it wasn’t going to happen.
Without missing a beat, you turned away from him, heading over to where Mike and the gang were looking over the board. Maybe they could tell you more about the mind-flayer in the game and take your mind off of whatever your boyfriend had going on.
That left Steve, alone and confused as he tried to deal with all the things he was feeling. Not only that, but now he had to worry about whatever was bothering you because you’d made it abundantly clear that you weren’t going to tell him.
This really was just too much to be dealing with at once.
Still, he knew that it was important.
It was important to Steve that you felt comfortable and happy above everything else, it was his job as you boyfriend to make sure that you did. However, he had obviously missed something because you were absolutely not, happy.
He'd only seen you act that way one time before, when Jonathan Byers had chosen Heather Applegate to be his lab partner over you but that was in middle school.
Were you jealous?
It happened sometimes, he didn't doubt it. He got jealous too so it wasn't a totally foreign concept but there was nothing for you to be worried about right now. It wasn't like when you two were at school and there were all kinds of girls around.
Right now, the biggest threat was the mind-flayer and nothing else mattered. What could you have going on that was bothering you?
After thinking about it for what seemed like hours, Steve came to the conclusion that he was absolutely clueless.
He'd been racking his brain to figure it out but nothing seemed right. It was all relatively simple, he should have just been able to ask you but it wasn't that easy.
Whatever he'd done to upset you, it was on him to make it right...no matter how long it took. He only hoped that he'd be able to do it before you all inevitably were killed by a monster.
Using context clues, he knew that something had made you jealous so now he just had to figure out what it was. It could have been a few things, but more than anything, one thing stuck out.
From all of the watching he'd been doing, he could tell that something was bothering you about Nancy, from the way that you were watching her. It was like she'd done something to you, something that you weren't willing to look past and he just couldn't figure it out.
There was no way for him to know based on just trying to think it through...that wasn't how it worked.
In order to know how to make it better, Steve was going to have to figure out what she'd done to you.
And there was no chance that you were actually going to tell him, so he did the only thing that he knew how, he asked Nancy.
She was sitting on the couch, fiddling with a flashlight. From the look on her face alone, Steve could tell that she was stressed. But everything would work out, they had a plan and Eleven.
There was nothing that could get to them as long as they stuck together, as cheesy as that sounded.
They had proved it before, and if they had to, they could prove it again.
“Hey Nance? I had a question?” he started, sitting down beside her. She was the only other girl that he knew super well, other than you, and there was a good chance that she’d be able to help him.
After all, you two knew each other and as another woman, she might have some insight into what had happened that he was just missing.
“Go for it” she prompted, not even bothering to make small talk with him over anything else. He had come to her with a question and she would do her best to answer him.
For some reason though, Steve hadn’t assumed it would be so easy.
He had been waiting for some kind of interrogation almost over what he could have needed, but it never came. Instead, Nancy waited for him to tell her, not offering anything.
“Okay um, Y/N is upset with me and I don’t know what I did...do you have any idea?” he wondered, shocking her as soon as the words left his lips.
Could he really be so blind?
From the second she heard what he was worrying about, she could put the pieces together.
If she had been in your place, she would have been angry too.
“Go talk to her Steve, there’s a lot going on right now. She probably just needs some support” she shrugged, going back to what she’d been doing prior.
There were a lot of things on her mind, and she didn’t need to worry about Steve right now.
So, as desperate as he was to figure out what was going on, it was clear that Steve wasn’t going to get anything from her.
Instead, he set his mind on a different course. He knew that he needed to find you.
Hopefully you would be able to clear all this up about him.
~
You were sitting where he left you, though the rest of the guys had moved somewhere else in the house.
You were just staring at the board as if it was going to tell you some secret that was going to save all of you...but you knew that it wasn’t.
In truth, you were just searching for some kind of distraction from everything that you were feeling.
It was embarrassing and you really couldn’t stand that you were feeling that way. You had never been the jealous type but something about it just got to you.
Maybe it was born out of self-consciousnesses or just pressure. It really bothered you, mostly because you understood the difference between love and a first love.
Nancy Wheeler was the first girl that Steve had ever fallen in love with in his life and that was a different kind of love. You just couldn’t compete with that.
Not to mention that when you looked at Nancy, you saw everything you’d ever wanted to look like in your life.
It was just too much on top of what you already had to deal with.
“Mind if I join you?” you heard, recognizing the voice immediately.
In all honesty, right now Steve was the last person you wanted to see but that did little to change the fact that you also wanted to crawl into his lap and never leave.
You loved him, no matter how stressful he could be.
You didn’t answer him at first, only glancing over your shoulder at him. You weren’t really upset at him, you were more frustrated than anything.
That was the problem with loving someone so much. The worst thing that you could think of is losing that.
Still, you didn’t argue with him when he sat down beside you.
“Find anything interesting?” he wondered, his eyes scanning the page you’d been looking at, though he was much more interested in breaking the ice with you.
Steve hated that there was some kind of separation between the two of you, it bothered him.
“Not really, we’re kinda screwed” you groaned, scared that this was all going toward nothing. There wasn’t a thing that any of you could do.
Right now, Nancy should have been the farthest thing from your mind.
But you just couldn’t shake that feeling.

Stranger Things Theories (Part 1)
So this is gonna be my first post on my theories. I’m probably just going to make a list, starting with the first one that happens and moving down the timeline with each post of theories, it’s just easier for me. (also this one I posted on Amino first)
this one’s my mom’s, but I figured I’d put it in here, cuz why not. There’s two guys at the end of season 1 that both talk to Hopper. My mom thinks they might’ve talked to him a bit more about El. The agreement was they know where she is, he gets to save Will and the rest of Hawkins doesn’t know, but Hopper looks worried when he sees those two guys show up. No words are said, he just gets into the car and drives off. My mom thinks the reason they might’ve been talking about El is because Hopper puts Eggos out for her at the very end.
i think Max may end up with powers like El’s. First things first: I don’t believe the only reason she has an entire episode named after her is because she just “beat the boys at a video game” because if that were the case, Bob “It’s a nap of Hawkins!” Newbie, Superhero, Founder of Middle School AV Club would also have an episode. Plus, looking through the other episodes that mention or literally downright name drop a character, that character has more importance than just beating somebody at a video game. For example. The Vanishing of Will Byers: Will’s the main character all through the series and even in seasons 2 and 3 happens to be a spy between The Upside Down and real world. Also Weirdo on Maple Street: Eleven has magic powers. She’s the one who found Will and killed the monsters to save Hawkins multiple times. There are more episodes that bring up characters (mostly El and Will), though there are a few others that end up being someone kinda big to the rest of the series during the episode they have named after them. Not to mention, what was the fight between her and Billy about? It’d make sense both of them would get upset, especially assuming Max has powers and Billy, the pushy, annoying jerk of a big brother, pushed her to point of anger where she moved something out in public and people saw. In that case, while, yes, it was Billy’s fault for starting the whole thing and pushing her to that point, it could be seen as her fault through some perspectives if they didn’t know what was happening to her and her powers were known to the outside. Plus, in the original versions of the video game, Max didn’t throw coins the same way Dustin throws pudding-in fact, it was a very similar mechanism to El’s bounce-blink power shoot, but eventually was turned into coins and her throwing them.

*spoiler alerts ahead, of you haven’t seen season 3 don’t read these 2*
I don’t think the Billy we watched die was actually Billy. We pretty much watched real Billy get replaced by the clone created by the Mind Flayer in the Upside Down. I figure the point of all the clones is to be able to keep Billy in the Upside Down and replace his position in the real world and have the clones run around to make the army, maybe even needed back up, knowing El would probably be around still. That would explain why hes more of a jerk to everyone and why the clones were even there anyway. I’m pretty sure real Billy’s still in the Upside Down and the one who died was actually a clone.
With that being said, I also don’t think Hopper’s dead. We never actually watched Hop die. We see him and Joyce crying and then we hear an explosion. We know Alexei said “don’t be around when it happens it turns people to dust” who else got turned into dust in season 1 and ended up perfectly fine? Eleven and she literally just ended up in the upside down. Not to mention the song that plays at the end of The Body in season 1, when they find Will’s supposedly dead body, is the same song that plays when El is reading Hop’s letter. So I believe Hopper is either in the Upside Down with Billy and the rest of the clones, OR the American at the end of season 3.

hi there! i dont ever make tumblr posts but i have a lot of feelings about stranger things 3 so im going to make a post about it because if i dont i will physically implode. thank you. please talk to me about stranger things 3.
thoughts under the cut because i have a lot of thoughts
also spoilers duh
SHIT THAT RULES
“MOM! GET OFF THE PHONE!”
max and el’s friendship is the fuckign BOMB dude. i love them so much
el’s wardrobe this season was GREAT
“i dump your ass”
robin translating and cracking the russian code and getting INTO the mystery. i didn’t give two shits about the russian subplot until she did
“can’t spell america without erica”
shirtless dad bod hopper??
hopper’s shirt
mr clarkes entrance?? give this man more screen time PLEASE
NANCY BURSTING INTO THE ROOM EVERY TIME JONATHAN WAS DEVELOPING A PHOTO
when hopper was beating the crap out of mayor kline and his secretary gets the phone to call for help so joyce disconnects the phone?? “who are you calling? the police?” SHE’S SO BADASS DUDE I LOST MY MIND
steve, robin, dustin, and erica’s squad was so fucking good. they have such good chemisty and were genuinely hilarious together.
the sauna test. just. the whole scene. one of my favorite moments of season 2 was in the last episode where all the kids divert the demodogs and actually do some cool shit. same scenario. they face billy and work together and its. so fucking cool and refreshing. also max worrying about her step-brother despite him having been an asshole in the past is a nice touch. max rules.
when the kids find nancy in the hospital and el throws the monster repeatedly into the wall and then out the window??? the women in this show are... so goddamn good.
WHEN THE KIDS FIND NANCY IN THE HOSPITAL AND MAX SAYS “WHAT THE FU-”
“because i love her and i can’t lose her again!”
nancy this entire season
“see that table over there, to your right?” *looks to the left* “no your other right”
alexei
WE GOT MORE MURRAY HELL YEAH
el going into billy’s head to uncover the source and finding billy’s memory of his mother as well as his traumatic experiences with his father
ROBIN BEING GAY HELLO??? HERE FOR THIS
SUZIE
hopper’s letter
im probably forgetting more stuff,
SHIT THAT DOESN’T RULE SO MUCH
so. my biggest issue with this season was the utter lack of will byers. he’s arguably one of the most interesting characters in the show given his experiences in the first two seasons, but he was hardly important this time around. he did little else other than sense the presence of the mind flayer. we’ve seen noah schnapp’s acting, so let the kid act! give him some freakin’ lines! let him DO something
this relates somewhat to my first issue, but i really hated how separated the party was this season. i was pretty disappointed that dustin was M.I.A. for the majority of the season (though to be fair his squad makes up for it), but more so upset with how little attention will’s friends paid to him. despite his importance to the series, will has never really felt like a member of the party because he’s just... rarely there. in the past he’s been missing or possessed, but this time around his friends were just being jackasses. i really, really want to see more will in the next season(s), preferably doing shit with his fucking friends!
billy’s death wasn’t great. i didn’t like the character at all, but he didn’t deserve to die. max’s reaction didn’t help. i am saddened.
did they ever really explain why the flayed were eating chemicals? was it so they could turn to mush? i don’t know if i missed it or if it was just glazed over, but it was a detail that felt... idk? out of place?
kinda petty? but i really missed steve kicking the shit out of monsters with his spiked bat.
was jonathan even in this season?
the russian terminator guy? snore
i’m so upset joyce’s house didn’t get messed up somehow. the previous seasons established this pattern of joyce’s house being this hub for crazy happenings, with the lights in season 1 and the drawings in season 2. petty again, but i was looking forward to another wacky home makeover!
OTHER STRAY THOUGHTS
yes i think hopper is still alive but i dont think hes “the american” teased in the after-credits scene. that seems way too blatant and i’m hoping its a red herring. but maybe thats giving the duffers too much credit. i think it would be much more interesting if hopper is in the upside down. if this is the case, season 4 might spend more time exploring the upside down, given its lack of importance in season 3.
the big flayed monster WAS supposed to resemble the mind flayer, right? im surprised the show didn’t acknowledge this somehow, in like a flashback to will’s drawing or something.

summary: the fed-up girlfriend of billy hargrove hears bout his fight with her childhood friend steve harrington and neighbor lucas sinclair and she comes to her senses by making a tough decision
word count: 2,953 dear god i’m so sorry
warnings: asshole!billy hargrove, season 2 spoilers, break ups
a/n: hey hi what’s up long time no see. so i’ve decided that i’m gonna attempt to write again here on this site! cool! anyways, if this sucks i’m sorry - go easy and give me some feedback because i’d love to be more active. and i’m sorry this is so unnecessarily long i just haven’t written in a while and got ahead of myself. also this is set the day after the gang takes down the mind flayer. that day was monday, november 5th, 1984 according to the stranger things wikia (thanks laura!) so this is set on tuesday, the day after. oh and i’m tagging this as a steve fic and a billy fic because it’s kinda both.
You knew that dating someone who has a temper like Billy wasn't going to be easy. You knew that many arguments were to come due to his quick temper that would make you question if he really is the person you should be with. You heard all the warnings from everyone who would say that he was just going to break your heart, but you didn't listen. What everyone else had to say about your relationship didn't bother you - they didn't see the side of Billy that you had grown so fondly of ever since he moved to Hawkins. He would give you rides to and from school, flashing lazy smiles at you from the driver’s seat that left you wondering how the whole town couldn’t see him the way you did. At times he didn’t get along with some classmates, but that was just because he had planted in a small town where everyone knew everyone and was still adjusting.
In the beginning of yours and Billy’s relationship, the tall tales of what he did back in San Diego and who he mouthed off to during basketball practice scared you. However, after a few deep midnight conversations, you felt that you knew him well enough to look past the rumors. Even the brief warnings from Nancy Wheeler, a family friend since diapers, told you weren’t enough to tarnish the Billy Hargrove that you knew.
You didn’t know why the atmosphere in Billy’s Camaro was different on this cold Tuesday morning, but it was. Max, who you had grown fond of despite Billy not having much of an interest in her, had always sat in the back whenever you were in the car with them. Today, however, she had her legs sprawled across the backseat and was humming along to the radio. Not that Max would always sit with perfect posture any other day, but she wouldn’t stretch out like that.
As you made normal small talk with Max she added more into the conversation, talking about what she was learning in Science class and how AV Club was pretty damn nerdy, but she was in it for her friends. Surprisingly, Billy was the one who talked the least during the ride. Not that he was usually chatty, but he didn’t even make a snide remark about your awful singing. Hell, he even changed the station when Max asked him, to a station that you could tell he wasn’t a fan of.
Something was different. The dynamic had changed between the siblings and you were happy it meant that they were getting along better, even if that meant that Billy was uncharacteristically quiet during your routine car rides.
Once Max was dropped off and Billy’s car was parked in the high school parking lot you both sat in silence for a moment. Usually, Billy jumped right out of the car, ready to walk you to your locker. Today though, he was taking longer to light this cigarette due to his hands shaking. When you stopped looking at the cigarette itself you saw his hands, red and slightly bruised. Then you looked at his face again and realized that his face had a few faint bruises as well, that it wasn’t just the shadows.
“Oh my god Billy!” You gasped, then lowering your voice and being flooded with sympathy as your mind started jumping to conclusions. “What the hell happened?”
His eyes remained lock on the cigarette, still attempting to light it up with his shaking hands. You took the lighter from his hands, offering to do it. He allowed you to and gave you a small smile that didn’t meet his eyes.
“Defending your honor of course.” He told you, trying to turn your attempt at confrontation into a joke, but you weren’t amused.
You pleaded with him. “Billy come on…you’re worrying me.”
“Well, it’s nothing for you to worry about.” He paused, considering what version of truth he could share. “Just some guy last night at the party you missed last night running his mouth.”
You tried your hardest not to see red. Not to let your temper and your guilty plea to change Billy overtake what should have been a normal Tuesday day. You struggled but looking into Billy’s eyes, the man that you were falling in love with was helping you.
“That doesn’t change the fact that you need to work on your violence babe…” You trailed off, not knowing how else to reach your boyfriend.
He sighed, wringing his hands together. “I know Y/N. Believe me, I’m trying. But this guy, I just didn’t know how else to react. You know I’m trying baby. You know.”
You did. Despite what it may look like from outsiders, Billy was changing and had you to thank for that. You knew that you should never go into a relationship wanting to change someone, but it honestly wasn’t all you. He wanted this too.
You kissed him briefly and squeezed his hand before walking out of the car and making your way into the school. You and Billy went your separate ways, him muttering something that you couldn’t fully understand.
As you approached your locker you saw Nancy walk to hers which was a few down from yours. When she noticed you, her eyes went into a slight panic state as she looked around, as if she was looking for a way out.
“Hey, Nance! What’s up?” You chirped, trying to blame her odd behavior on whatever possible drama could be going down between her, Steve, and Jonathan.
She looked down, avoiding eye contact. “Hi Y/N. Just stressing over that Math test, I’m going to go and talk to Paul for some help. Later!”
Despite trying to push Nancy’s strange behavior out of your head, you had to wonder what was making her run away so quickly. Sure, she cared a lot about her grades, but you knew for a fact that Math was her strong suit, especially Algebra.
Pushing past the odd start to this day, you kept your eyes on the floor as you made your way over to homeroom.
Your only friend in that class was Steve Harrington. Steve and you had a history, you were best friends up until the 4th grade when people decided that having friends with the opposite gender was weird. Despite you both not being as close anymore, you still looked forward and enjoyed the time that you both spent together, despite Billy not being a huge fan of him.
Steve was already in the seat next to you, with his trademark sunglasses oddly on indoors. (Let’s pretend the sunglasses hid his bruises okay) You greeted him, trying to start a conversation but he didn’t put much effort into it.
Despite Steve ditching the “King of Hawkins High” title you still knew that he enjoyed going to the occasional party, which led you to ask about if he went to the same party as Billy.
“Hey Harrington, what did you do last night?” You questioned.
His head snapped towards you as his breathing hitched. “Why? What have you heard?”
The fact that another one of your friends was acting strangely was beginning to concern you.
“Nothing. Billy just had some bruises on his face and knuckles.” Steve smirked at that statement for a brief moment, confusing you. “I was just curious if you were at the same place when he got into the fight.”
Steve looked at the ground, visibly struggling to find the words to answer your question. “Yes, I was at the same place. I watched the fight happen too…” He trailed off.
“You did? Who was it? He didn’t want to tell me.”
“I’m going to regret telling you this, but it was me Y/N.” As he said this he took off his sunglasses, revealing his black eye. Actually, his black eyes.
“Oh my god... I can’t believe he would lie to me about that! How could he not expect me to find out!? Did he threaten you or something?” Your heart was racing as you leaned into Steve.
“I don’t think he expected I’d tell you, or anyone for that matter.” Your eyes widened as your heart raced thinking about how many people could have witnessed the fight. “But him hurting me wasn’t even the worst part.” He confessed.
“What was then?” You questioned.
Steve took your hand, bracing himself for how you would react to this. “It was because he had Lucas pinned against a cabinet…He stormed into the Byers’ house and was flipping his shit looking for Max.” He took a deep breath as he continued, knowing fully well how fond you were of the young redhead. “I don’t know why but when he saw that she was with him, he just lost it Y/N. I’m so sorry that it happened. That I’m the one who had to tell you.”
His news hit you like a brick. The man you had dedicated months to hurt a middle schooler. It hit home that it was Lucas, he’s your neighbor and you had babysat him and his sister numerous times. You couldn’t get the image of him being violent towards Max out of your head too.
You started to connect the dots of what’s happened. Max must have felt like she had something over him, or at least she did for the moments being. Even though she adored you and Billy together, she has said on numerous occasions that she didn’t understand why you were with him. You knew that she would tell you not long after. Billy had been on edge and attempted to convince you that he still wanted to change because he knew how upset you would be when you found out. Nancy was cautious to talk to you because she didn’t want to risk telling you.
For the rest of homeroom, Steve told you more details about the fight. He didn’t really need to explain why he was at the house with The Party, it wasn’t much of a shock that he had become a babysitter because of them. He explained that Max was the one who stopped Billy from nearly killing Steve with an anesthetic. You didn’t understand why an anesthetic powerful enough to knock someone out was at the Byers’ house, but you didn’t feel like questioning any further He told you that Lucas got away from Billy by kneeing him in the groin.
Surprisingly, you didn’t feel as upset as you expected to be from the news. Steve managed to make you laugh despite how upsetting things were. Of course, you were upset at the breakup to come between you and your first potential love but with how you still had a strong support system of friends despite being in a committed relationship it wasn’t as scary as you thought a breakup would be.
billy,
meet me at my locker 15 minutes after school gets out – need to talk.
Y/N
You were grateful for the pep talks Steve, Jonathan, and Nancy was telling you. While they knew from the beginning that you and Billy most likely wouldn’t work out, they were still empathetic that this was how your relationship was ending.
“Hey darling, I got your note. What’s up?” Billy asked you when he got to your locker, 10 minutes after school let out. You left class 20 minutes before class got out, to prepare yourself for any possible excuse or explanation that he could throw at you.
Nothing could prepare you for the reality of the fight. Billy was defeated, a loss for words when you started confronting him.
“Nothing really. Just trying to wrap my head around the fact that you nearly killed Steve Harrington and tried to beat up a middle schooler.” His face deflated at those words. “And finding the best way to break up with you.”
His voice was quivering, frantically trying to change your mind. “Y/N, baby come on, don’t end this over something that doesn’t have anything to do with us. I don’t have a good excuse, but this has nothing to do with our relationship.” He takes your hands in his gently.
“Nothing!? Are you fucking serious?” You stepped towards him, trying to stop your voice from shaking and revealing how nervous you actually are. “This has everything to do with us! A relationship is supposed to be a team, you and me. When you do these things…beating up Steve, attacking Lucas, they reflect on me! I finally get how people see me – the oblivious girlfriend of the douche who has all the temper tantrums.”
You stormed away, not wanting to fight with him and deal with this anymore. It hurt letting go of your relationship but ultimately you knew that it wouldn’t end. It wasn’t that you didn’t like him for the person that he is, you did. The fights he got into just weren’t something you could handle any more.
“Steve told you all this, right? If he gets to be the one to tell you what happened can I at least be the one to explain it?” Billy pleaded.
“There’s nothing to explain. Just let me leave already.” You moved out of his way, attempting to cut the conversation short again.
“Come on Y/N, I’m your ride!”
“I’ll just find someone else! Please stop following me and don’t try talking to me again.” You yelled back, quickly walking past him.
You reached the parking lot, eyes frantic as you were looking for anyone you recognized who could give you a ride home. Finally, you saw Steve from across the lot, approaching his BMW. You yelled out his name, increasing your pace to reach him before Billy could see. You didn’t want a repeat of what happened the night prior.
“Hey Y/N/N, how’d it go down with Billy?” He questioned, leaning against his car as you reached him.
“Fine. Can I explain later? And can you give me a ride home?” You looked at your shoes, embarrassed for some reason. “Billy usually drives me and he’s probably on his way here.”
“Yeah totally, I should have offered this morning when I told you. I’ve seen you riding with him a couple times.” Steve gestured you into the car, but not before Billy made one last attempt.
“Steve Harrington! Great…” He took a deep breath, most likely attempting to control his anger. It hurt your heart, he was trying now. “Listen, I know that Y/N is a little out of your way Steve, just let me take her. It doesn’t have to mean anything.”
You looked at the ground, turning towards the passenger seat of Steve’s car. “But that’s the thing. It always does with you, Billy.” You looked over at him one last time before getting into the vehicle and being taken away.
A few weeks had passed since the breakup. Steve was giving you rides to and from school daily, sometimes you even borrowed your parent's car and drove you both. Your friendship with Steve was growing, you were both becoming fonder of each other. Nancy was coming over a lot more often too, you had voiced to her that you didn’t want to be alone and that you wanted her to stop you from isolating yourself.
“Steve?” You questioned, turning to him. You were both in his car, driving to school on a chilly November morning.
“That’s my name.”
“What do people think of me?” You asked.
Steve sighed and looked back at the road again. “God, I don’t know Y/N. Nothing really, the break up is old news by now. Why does it even matter?”
“This whole thing just sucks because he’s the first thing that comes to people’s minds when they hear my name. He’s a part of my reputation, my image. I mean, who’s going to want to be with the ex-girlfriend of Billy Hargrove?” You were laughing at this point, at this sudden realization. “He looks about ready to kill every guy who looks at me, you and Jonathan seem to be the only people he hasn’t scared off yet.”
Steve was saddened by how you were talking down to yourself. He’s enjoyed your company a lot, more than he likes to admit. He’s aware that him having romantic feelings for you isn’t ideal but he can’t really help himself. It doesn’t matter anyway, his friendship with Y/N was enough and he didn’t want to risk that.
“Y/N, come on. When people think of you, they don’t think of Hargrove. They think of your pretty little face, okay? Oh, and don’t worry about finding someone to love you again.” Steve says as he parks the car.
Once you are both out of the car you make your way over to him as he drapes his arm around your shoulders, smiling down at you.
“And how are you so sure about that Harrington?” You asked him, sighing a little as you leaned your head against his shoulder.
He smirked slightly before answering you. “First-hand experience, it’s pretty easy.” He winked at you before walking away.

Steve had been MIA for almost a day now, in addition to Robin and his young friend, Dustin. Your dad hadn’t been seen since the morning you left in a rage. The band of children took you in as one of their own after they explained to you the situation about the big bad monster coming back. Third time’s the charm. You never thought you’d have deal with it again, but it had been a while since anything bad had happened in Hawkins, it was only a matter of time. It didn’t explain why your boyfriend and your dad were yet to be seen.
Your sister, El, was on edge and very upset with Mike. Looks like dad got what he wanted.
The kids and you went around town for a while, trying to do whatever in your path to kill the Mind Flayer for good. You finally looped back around and made it to your cabin, and that’s when disaster struck.
El searched for the Mind Flayer, and it ended up finding her and attacking. It destroyed your cabin and in the midst of chaos, knocked you straight into a wall, hitting your head and opening a gash for blood to pour out of. That wasn’t as bad as what your sister got, though. It was a nasty-looking bite. You were oddly calm with all destruction around you, but it was time to book it since El was injured.
To the convenience store you went, to take care of your sister’s leg, you must. The group of nerve-ridden teens rushed around the store, taking anything they found useful. Max and you patched El up to the best of your abilities. Dustin had patched through the radio for about a minute, and you knew something was off. Your sister searched for Dustin and told the group where he was, then you were on your way.
“Are you sure that he said ‘gate?’” You asked her. “I mean, he is at the movies. I think he could’ve said great. I don’t know. It’s so confusing. How’s your leg?” You were rambling.
“Hurts.” El told you. Her leg was propped up on your lap. You had taken some ice from the store and wrapped it in a towel, trying to bring the swelling down. Jonathan had turned sharply, causing El to gasp in pain.
“Sorry, sorry, everyone alright?” He asked.
“We’re fine, just keep going!” You comforted your sister. Finally, you arrived at Starcourt and everyone piled out of the car and made a run for the mall. El was hobbling, poor thing. But she powered through it and rushed inside.
—————
A car flew across the food court, and the dishelved group running from evil Russians came to a halt. Your group merged with Dustin’s and everyone reunited. You saw your boyfriend and ran into his arms.
“Oh, thank God you’re okay.” You held him tight.
“What happened to your head?” Steve investigated your injury. You pushed his hand away and tenderly rested your hand on his cheek.
“Are you kidding me, Steve? What happened to your face?” You stared at his massive swollen eye, wishing you could do something to help it.
“Well, it’s a long story,” he shrugged, “secret elevator, child endangerment, Russians, interrogation, getting drugged, making a break for it. It’s been a long day.” He chuckled through the pain. Then El let out a groan of pain and fell to the floor. You rushed to her side.
“It’s my leg!” They pulled the bandages off and watched as something underneath her leg move about. Robin was trying to distract everyone, including herself, while Jonathan found a knife to open the wound. Your sister screaming in pain as the knife sliced through her skin. She used her powers to remove the parasite while everyone watched in fear and disgust. It crawled away, but not before a boot squashed it. You all looked up to see the adults arrive.
“Dad?” You asked in disbelief. It’d only been two or three days since you’d seen him, but it felt like a lifetime. He came to you and El and engulfed you in a hug.
“I’m never letting you two leave the cabin again.” He joked. You laughed weakly.
“Yeah, about the cabin...” You sighed and avoided eye contact.
“Destroyed.” Lucas cut in. “Mind Flayer came through, it’s barely standing.” Hopper got up and exhaled deeply.
“Alright, catch us up.” He comforted El while the rest of the group walked the adults through the crazy last few days.
Steve explained what happened with the Russians, not even in complete detail, but every word of it made you tense up a little more. You wished you could’ve been there for him. His swelling had gone down some, but he was still covered in puke and blood. Everyone was arguing over how the plan should go, and you had your ideas, too.
“Dustin, Erica, Steve, Robin, y/n,” Your dad listed, “these are the keys to the car I borrowed.” Hopper handed the keys to Steve, and Joyce rolled her eyes at Hops half truth. “Go to wherever this kid says his radio station is.” You nodded in acceptance. “Steve, y/n, I’m putting you in the same group so you’re not worried about each other, got it?”
“Yes, dad. We got it.” You almost left, but hesitated and ran back to your dad. You hugged him tightly and whispered: “Please be careful, love you.” He hugged you back and smiled weakly.
“Don’t worry, kiddo. And I love you, too.” You went over to El, who was waiting for Murray to finish briefing Jonathan and Nancy on the locks.
“Hey, hun, be safe. I’ll see you soon.” You gave her a gentle hug, making sure not to hurt her. “Love you.” She hugged back and returned your words. You stroked her hair and ran back to Steve, you had to get communications up!
“Now this is what I’m talking about!” Steve cheered when he saw the car your dad stole borrowed. You called shotgun and Steve hit the gas. You turned the radio on as a little distraction. Steve reached for your hand and grasped it tight. “Everything will be alright, baby.” All you could think about was your dad and your sister. The scenarios you were thinking in your head were awful. Dustin and Robin were talking about his maybe made-up girlfriend, and suddenly he yelled at Steve to turn into the dirt. Steve complied and the incline of the hill was too much for the “Toddfather.” You hopped out and ran upwards while the others followed.
—————
You and Steve told the stories of the last few eventful days. You cringed as he described in full detail what brutal things he went through. He kept fixating on the little gash in your forehead, you don’t know how. The poor thing was bruised and bloody all over. But he was so worried about you. He kissed the top of your head and pulled you close.
“When this is all over, you could probably stay at my place since your cabin got destroyed.” Steve assured you.
“I don’t wanna even think about it right now.” You rested your head on his shoulder. He hummed and held you, trying to take in the quiet, calm moment. Until he looked at the town and saw the lights of Starcourt flashing, meaning the Mind Flayer was closing in.
“Guys...” Steve motioned to the blinking lights of the mall. Dustin called to the “Griswold Family,” but all the radio would transmit was loud growls. Steve made his way back to the car to save the day, and you followed. “Wait, y/n, you should stay here.” He told you.
“No way, I’m coming with you. Start the car.” You hopped in, and Robin climbed in the back. Steve didn’t have the time to protest. He started the car and booked it for Starcourt.
“Your dad’s gonna kill me of you get hurt.” He mumbled. After a few long minutes of speeding down the road, Steve collided with Billy’s car in the parking lot. You held on tight to the door of the car and the Toddfather spun. Steve checked on his passengers and watched in horror and shock as the Mind Flayer scaled the mall. A horn from Nancy’s car blared as they pulled up beside you, shouting for you to get in. Your half of the Scoops Troop combined forces with the Griswold Family. Once secure in the trunk, you let out a sigh of relief...and then looked out the window to see the monster chasing you. Dustin’s serenade was enough to keep your spirits up for two minutes or so.
The monster finally turned around, which meant you were turning around, too. Back to the mall you went. There were helicopter support teams heading the same way. Something was going down. By the time you got there, the Mind Flayer was down and emergency services was taking care of your friends. Steve and you got check ups, and you rushed to El to make sure she was okay. She most definitely was not, she told you everything. She hugged you as tight as she possibly could, not wanting to let go. Steve was with Robin, watching as you and your sister comforted each other. But this wasn’t the end of your bad night. You and El saw as Will ran up to his mom. She looked at you with tears streaming down her face, staring at you and your sister, shaking her head. That’s when you realized what happened. You burst into tears and fell to the ground, Steve ran towards you and grabbed you. El was shaking her head, denying the impossible.
“Hey, hey, I’ve got you. Don’t worry, I’ve got you.” He comforted. “I’m sorry, y/n, I’m so sorry.” Steve let out some of his own tears. He invited El into the hug. She gave in and unleashed her emotions. What were you to do? What was she to do? You were blindsided and nobody had even spoke the truth yet. They didn’t have to. “You two can stay at my house for the next few days, just come and stay. I’ll be here for you.” He assured. When you had finally calmed down as much as you could, you sat still and silent on the pavement, holding your sister’s hand tight. Steve decided it was best to walk away for a moment and give you some time to process before he took you to his place. He shakily headed towards Robin.
“Everything alright?” She asked regretfully. Steve shook his head, swallowing back tears.
“No, no it’s not.” He broke, feeling bad that he was upset over your loss. Tears poured down his face. “She lost her dad, Robin. I can’t imagine what she’s going through. I hate that I’m crying because I don’t deserve to. I’ve known her dad for a couple years now, and he didn’t always like me, but it’s hitting hard. This isn’t how this is supposed to be. I can’t believe this.” He went on a rant and Robin pulled him into a hug.
“Steve, take a minute, pull yourself together,” she rested a hand on his shoulder, “take her and her sister home. Stay with them. They need support. This is hell for them.” Steve took a couple deep breaths and headed back over to you guys.
“Are you ready to go?” He asked, holding each hand out to help you and El up. You both grabbed either hand and he pulled upwards. “They found my keys with the Russians, so I got them back.” He pulled them out and unlocked the car doors for you. You silently sobbed in the backseat with your sister beside you.
“Thank you, Steve.” El whispered. You pulled her closer to you and felt her shaking.
“Anytime.” He was scared to speak, if he was being honest. It was a tense situation, on top of the earlier events. He was just glad that you and everybody else were okay, but he mourned your father with you. He pulled into the driveway of his house and helped get El inside. She took a shower first, and you helped rebandage her injury. Steve took a shower next to clean the blood and puke. While he was bathing, you rummaged through his closet for your clothes, something for El to wear to bed. She fell asleep in Steve’s room. You grabbed some clothes for him so he didn’t wake your sister up. You cleaned up Steve’s cuts when he got out. It was finally your turn for the shower, and you let the dirt and blood run down the drain, taking in the peaceful moment. You deep cleaned yourself, what you’ve wanted to do since the Mind Flayer’s disgusting goo dripped onto you. You stepped out of the shower and fixed the gash on your forehead with a butterfly bandage, grabbed everyone’s dirty clothes, and threw them into the washing machine. You put on Steve’s sweatpants and shirt, and walked into the living room. It was covered in pillows and blankets. Steve stood awkwardly in the center of the room.
“I, uh, I know how you get after encounters like these. I brought out some snacks and your favorite movies. And of course, I made a fort. I figured you wouldn’t be able to sleep no matter how exhausted you were. I don’t know if you wanna talk about it or sit in silence and cuddle or pretend like it didn’t happen, but whatever you wanna do, I’m cool with it.” He explained in detail. You scanned the room, thinking about your response, but you quickly resulted to crying. He approached carefully and pulled you into a strong hug that made you feel safe and warm. You tried to keep your sobs quiet, as not to wake your sister. “Shhhh, babygirl, I’ve got you. You’re safe here.” He said anything comforting that could come to mind.
“I love you.” You said through your suffocating sobs.
“I love you, too. Do you wanna put a movie on?” You nodded at the suggestion. He picked out your comfort movie and stuck it in the player, then sat next to you on the mound of pillows. You held the bowl of popcorn, almost protectively. You didn’t want to admit you were scared the Mind Flayer was going to come back to look for you tonight. You wanted the lights on as a precaution. Steve allowed it, anything to make you feel better. He put his arm around you shoulder and pulled you closer to him. He would do anything in that moment to shield you from the awful outside world. You deserved none of what you got on this cruel summer night, but you believed you did. Your last few memories with your dad were fighting and stress and resentment. You relived it over and over again that night. You couldn’t pull your mind off of the scarring reality of tonight.
After endless hours of mind-numbing movies, you passed out. Steve refused to fall asleep before you, he didn’t want you to be alone. Even in sleep, you looked stressed as can be.
—————
Steve woke up before you and El, so he made breakfast. You had always told him about El’s Eggo obsession, so that was her own personal plate. He made your favorite foods for breakfast and put them together all nice. You and El woke up nearly simultaneously and grouped in the kitchen.
“Let’s start this day on a relatively good note, ladies.” Steve handed you two your corresponding plates. Ahead of you was quite the journey to healing.
