Random Streamer Ash thoughts.

The entire Charmander situation was streamed. Hell, even the down time in the Pokémon Center because might as well do a chill stream. Or, at least that was the intention before everyone learned that not did Charmander's trainer abandon him, but doesn't even care that if Charmander is still following his orders, he could DIE due to the rain. Anyways the rescue happens and the only reason Ash didn't end his stream during it and the time waiting in the reception room is because he knew his chat would kill him if they didn't learn if Charmander was fine as soon as he did.

By the time Sinnoh is over and done with chat just wants Ash to take a vacation because seriously WTF WAS EVEN HAPPENING IN SINNOH THEY SAW IT THROUGH A STREAM AND THEIR STILL CONFUSED-

Also there's a new appreciation for the Darkrai species after the events of The Rise of Darkrai. Same with Giratina. Dialga, Palkia, Shaymin and Arceus are on thin ice though. Albeit Arceus is a lesser extent because of the near death trauma.

Oh yeah Damien ends up in some Real Deep Shit, specifically Real Deep Legal Shit because there is no way that wouldn't count as criminal negligence at best and his confession and the resulting consequences for Charmander were all broadcast live. Not stopping the stream was half Ash being too focused on Charmander to even notice it was still running, half the rest of the group making damn sure they had the Receipts on Damien.

Thankfully for everyone's sanity there does seem to be some kind of gap between Sinnoh and Unova in canon as far as I can tell, and even with Immediate Zekrom it's at least more chill by comparison.

...And Then Suddenly Kalos (:

Yeah, a lot of the typical Pariah Pokemon (particularly the more "evil" legendaries but also 'mons like Absol or Venipede) get seen in a new light thanks to Ash. And the legendaries that actively cause problems or are just assholes definitely end up on a few shitlists. Though some of the Sinnoh ones are a bit complicated in regards to actually showing up in the streams at all because he can't exactly get an internet connection in the distant past or a collapsing space-time distortion bubble, plus the fact that nobody in the repaired timeline where Arceus didn't Start Shit remembers the Arceus Starts Shit timeline. The wifi does somehow work in the Distortion World though.

Also in defense of Shaymin as a whole it's just that one Shaymin that's a prick. Every other Shaymin both in the series and in that specific movie are perfectly pleasant and actually fit their title as The Gratitude Pokemon from what I remember.

Pokemon Card of the Day #3166: Hoopa-GX (Team Up)

Hoopa-GX was a generally hard-hitting Darkness-type, even if one that couldn't attack multiple turns in a row. Its main thing over other Pokemon was that it had a GX attack that could deal some serious damage to Benched Pokemon-GX, which was going to be useful rather often in a format filled with those. There was a lot of competition for the GX attack in decks it would be used in, with the strong but limited normal attack needing to be enough to carry it in spots where something else wanted to use theirs instead.

190 HP was solid for a Basic Pokemon-GX. It was actually high enough to force Pikachu & Zekrom-GX to use a second Electropower to get a clean KO here, meaning that surviving a hit would happen reasonably often. The Fighting Weakness was rarely going to matter at this point in the game, and it wasn't until the very late TEU-On inclusion of Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX that it became a big deal again. Hoopa-GX wasn't nearly as useful in that format anyway. The Psychic Resistance could occasionally change a number against a Mewtwo & Mew-GX deck, though the impact was generally limited. The Retreat Cost here was 3, meaning that switching cards of some sort were basically required here. Hoopa-GX was not something that could attack every turn.

Rogue Ring needed a Darkness Energy and let you search your deck for up to 2 cards to put into your hand. This could help early with setting up. The problem was that this did no damage, and using a Pokemon-GX to just help set up while also being Active was quite the risk. Any hand disruption messed it up too. If you did avoid the negatives, it could also be a big help, so despite not being ideal you were probably going to want to keep the existence of this in mind if you were using Hoopa-GX.

Dark Strike was strong, at 160 damage for 3 Darkness Energy. This was similar to some of the bigger attacks at the time, but with one catch: Hoopa-GX couldn't use Dark Strike again during your next turn. This provided solid damage as long as you could switch to something else to take over the hitting right afterward. This was more useful if you had Weavile-GX to move Energy around to whatever you picked.

Devilish Hands GX also needed 3 Darkness Energy. The Darkness decks you'd use Hoopa-GX in also had other GX attacks, so you had to be sure this one was worth it before using. The effect was quite impressive here: You got to choose a Pokemon-EX or Pokemon-GX in play 6 times, and could choose the same one more than once. Each choice did 30 damage to that Pokemon, and Weakness and Resistance were ignored. You could spread a lot of damage or target a Benched Pokemon easily in this way. That Dedenne-GX on the Bench was just a target for this, and anything that gave up multiple Prizes and was weakened would not be safe. This could be a game-changing sort of attack if timed well.

Hoopa-GX did need Energy support to work, as any deck it was used in needed to power it up but also another attacker as well. This tended to limit the card to being used as a piece in Weavile-GX decks, which could move Darkness Energy around efficiently. Hoopa-GX even had a nice GX attack to work with, with the big downside being that you couldn't use the ones from the likes of Greninja & Zoroark-GX, Umbreon & Darkrai-GX, or Mega Sableye & Tyranitar-GX. This was something to consider for those Dark toolboxes, but was hard to fit in elsewhere.

I'll each give them a team of Six, and try to explain it from there! These are for aesthetic purposes, and no way a good team make up lol and of course this got long.

What Pokemon would Vash, Knives, Wolfwood, Meryl and Roberot have?

Vash: Xerneas, Sylveon, Absol, Breloom, Gogoat, and Lycanroc (Midday form)

Okay if you know me this team is biased as hell lol Lots of parallels to Knives because ya know their like two sides of the same coin.

His first pokemon was Eevee, and it evolved into a Sylveon because he has lots of love to give :)

Xerneas are supposed to represent everlasting life! :)))) I'd imagine Vash is responsible for said pokemon but keeps it hidden.

Absol is known as the disaster pokemon! When one appears a disaster follows after, he probs kept running into the poor thing and adopted it

I like to think Breloom and Gogoat are a pair, and Vash probably has a soft spot for grass pokemon. Breloom is a fighter, and Gogoat is a good way to travel.

Vash deserves a dog, the Midday form is very loyal to its trainer and is a lasting companion!

Knives: Yveltal, Umbreon, Aegislash, Zoroark, Kingambit, and Lycanrock (Midnight form)

The flip side of Xerneas is Yveltal, which absorbs the life of everything around :)) Surely in the hands of Knives nothing can go wrong!

Nai probably received an Eevee as well, his just evolved into an Umbreon

Aegislash and Kingambit are self-explanatory they fit his aesthetic. One is literally a floating sword, and Kingambits are leaders and command other pokemon.

A dog for Knives as well! the Midnight form of Lycanroc is more bloodthirsty than its day counterpart.

Zoroark just seems like an all around good Pokémon for him, it can do his bidding lol

Wolfwood: Silvally, Krookodile, Zebstrika, Darkrai, Banette, Mightyena

:))) Type: Null a pokemon that was experimented on, and has great power! But forced to wear its mask to suppress it :)))) They evolve into Silvally when a solid and unbreakable bond form, just seems like a good pokemon for him! This was probably his first pokemon!

Banette and Darkrai were accidental for sure, Banette's are pokemon with a vengeance and will kill those who wronged them. Darkrai the nightmare pokemon! Seems like it fits the aesthetic of the Punisher.

Straight up I think a Sandile bit him and he couldn't get rid of it lol Krookodile is goofy as hell, he just vibes.

Zebstrika is ill-tempered, but it likes Wolfwood a lot its the equivalent of his motorcycle lol

Deserves a dog as well! And while Mightyena isn't really a wolf, it's close enough.

Meryl: Mareep, Unown, Furret, Pachirisu, Rotom, Bewear

She reminds me of a Mareep I can't explain it lol Probs her first pokemon and can't bring herself to evolve it.

Meryls Bewear will beat the shit out of people, the strongest pokemon on her team it vibes check people lol

Rotom is her camera! Very helpful! She probably picked up Unown from college and felt bad leaving it behind so it just follows her around.

Furret is her comfort pokemon, very soft and huggable, she'd also look so cute with a Pachirisu hanging out on her shoulders.

Roberto: Spinda, Klefki, Polteageist, Toucannon, Fletchling, Persian

He likes to drink found the Spinda outside of a bar and straight up stole it.

Doesnt know how he got Klefki just appeared and he can not get rid of it! Was going to use Polteageist as a flask, turned out to be a pokemon! Who knew? Also can not get rid of it

Fletchling and Persian are actually pokemon he's actually wanted and caught. Fletchling lights his cigarette too lazy to evolve it, Persian is a bitch and is good a threatening people.

Him and Toucannon, have the same vibes. But his Toucannon actually likes to fight and will cut a bitch.

as promised, im going back to my usual hellsing shenanigans with some pokemon stuff. ive had this in my brain for months but have never gotten around to doing anything with it! my autistic ass has absorbed information about pokemon before i could have normal thought patterns, so hopefully my takes are at least a little satisfying. feel free to interact with ur own thoughts and suggestions!

i provided long explanations of each, but if you dont want to read all that just look at the pictures :P

boltund would be her first pokemon i think, her main partner from before her work with the organization. togetic is here because idk im a togetic 4lifer and im a kinnie ? it just really made sense to me, just vibes, plus i think she really needed a flying type. may become a togekiss later, that would be cute. umbreon is pip's eevee that she evolved, and blastoise is a gift from walter. i think she needs more red pokemon to match her color palette and vampire vibes so ill probably add to this!

alucard

alucard needs a legendary of course, so darkrai. i think they would be good friends, they give the same "misunderstood tortured soul" vibes. houndoom to represent baskerville, noivern to fit the vampire/bat aesthetic.

and an important distinction:

i think girlycard should have a hisuian sneasel. they're the same critter. two ancient beings.

im surprised with how much i struggled with this one. i feel like a fake fan. smh, anyways. sirfetch'd is perfect to me-even the unevolved farfetch'd is super fitting too-but i included the final form for this post. i wanted to stick with galar pokemon, but aegislash is literally a sword. cmon. stoutland is a recommendation from a friend that i 100% agree with. ive always associated her with the serperior line, so snivy was probably her starter. i think that'd be cute. im really open to suggestions on this one because i think she deserves more steel or normal types.

pip bernadotte

this is a big one! there were so many good options with pip... and i didnt even mean to color code it 😅 i wanted him to have an electric type to match seras (to add to the whole rivals-to-lovers aesthetic), so his main partner is raichu! it was between that or mudsdale, who i also really like (and is the only one on this team who cant be found in kalos, haha). i wanted him to have a bird (for the geese) so there's dodrio. scrafty and tauros just fit the vibe perfectly to me-they're sorta like honorable mentions. eevee is originally his but he eventually gives it to seras, who evolves it into umbreon. if pip would have kept it, i think it would have evolved into sylveon (the whole kalos thing).

some interesting picks for walter. corvisquire is his main guy, his "angel of death", he's raised it from a rookidee since he was a kid. maybe it would evolve into corviknight when he becomes Dark Walter. not sure how that would work. i choose not to think about dark walter. bisharp is there for the steel typing vibes as well as the chess symbolism: it really hits right for me, with walter's arc being about how he's played as a "pawn", in a sort of way. also a nod to a very dear friend of mine who loves walter and the pawniard line respectively. :) now, why leavanny, you ask? it learns string shot, of course! also because id like to think he would raise a sewaddle in his old age to help him with things around the estate.

Pokemon: Legendary Avatar au

ok so this au ties in with a headcannon of mine. The headcannon is that the legendaries we see in game are deities but the form we see is just an avatar of the deity and not the whole thing. Example: Arceus literally says something along the lines off giving you a piece of itself after you defeat it in PLA. It's also why multiple people can have the same legendary (I'm looking at you Pokemas). They can have multiple avatars.

Anyway this au idea also has some similar vibes I'd say to the the Twin Dragons au (where Ingo and Emmet are Zekrom and Reshiram) and also the Possessed au (Where the Red/Blue orb possesses Maxie/Archie). Those can kinda fit into this au.

The concept is largely around the idea that the legends are gods. That they have a usual Pokemon form that they can take. But they can also take human form. In particular they take human form by making one by scratch (usually only temporary) but they can also semi-possess a human and make them an avatar of them (far more permanent).

Legendaries usually only do that if there is a human they are particularly found of. It can be done with multiple humans. Sometimes they ask the human if they are up for it, but a lot of the time they don't.

In this au, Maxie is an avatar of Groudon, and Archie is an avatar of Kyogre. They both got that way because of the Red Orb and Blue Orb.

Ingo is an avatar of Zekrom and Emmet is an avatar of Reshiram. The twin princes were avatars of the original dragon/Reshiram/Zekrom and ever since then if any twins are born in either blood line the dragons make them avatars.

Oh, and also man made legends like Mewtwo and Silvally don't count. They are powerful but they aren't deities. Also Ultra Beasts don't count either, except for Lunala and Solgaleo, I think those two are still deities. Necrozma too.

Mythical Pokemon are also included in this au, I consider them a type of legendary.

Other potential examples (lot of this is based on Pokemas sync pairs)

UT POKÉMON TEAMS

Asriel!

Both forms baby! Let's go! (Sorry, it's gonna be a long one...)

Let's start with child Asriel...

1. Sobble: A crybaby Pokémon whose middle and last evos are reminiscent of the "bad boy" stereotype Asriel tries to embody later in life, a call-back to his scrapped character art.

2. Wynaut: Looks like Asriel and goes along with things, like the phrase "why not?", a happy-go-lucky Pokémon. It is theorized that Wynaut's tail is the real Pokémon and its body is a fake, much like how Asriel ends up faking his identity as "Flowey" later (even though he and Flowey are the same, he sees himself as two different people in this way, the same way it doesn't matter if Wynaut's tail is fake or not, it is still a singular Pokémon).

3. Togapi: Togepi's line is all about happiness and peace, and so is Asriel. It has an angel theme as it evolves, a nod to Asriel being the Angel from the Delta Rune prophecy.

4. Wooloo: Wooloo is a fluffy, sheep-like Pokémon that somewhat resembles Asriel. It is so soft that even a fall off a cliff won't hurt it. I like to think it's wool is what Toriel used to make Asriel and Chara's sweaters. :)

5. Cleffa: A star themed-Pokémon, it is reminiscent of fairytales. In the art book, Toby said he wanted Asriel's room to have celestial decor because he thought Asriel would be enamoured by the sky/space (a detail found in Asriel's room in Deltarune).

6. Phantump: This is just foreshadowing of a ghost of a child possessing a plant. According to the Pokédex, "By imitating the voice of a child, it causes people to get hopelessly lost deep in the forest. It's trying to make friends with them."

The Legendary and Mythical I associate with him are Cosmog and Shaymin.

Cosmog: This is a baby form of two various Legendary Pokémon associated with space and light, Solgaleo and Lunala. This once again goes with Asriel's love of space. It's also a nod to Angels when it evolves into Cosmeon.

Shaymin: A grass Pokémon with two forms which can disguise itself as blooming flowers or change to be in a cocky, sky-flying form. It somewhat looks like Asriel and resembles his transformation from timid child to emo edgelord.

I don't think Asriel has any Pokémon after becoming a Flower. Flowey, being neither Monster nor Human, cannot train Pokémon. He doesn't even have hands to throw Pokéballs! As Omega Flowey...it would be another story. But that will be a separate post.

As for the the God of Hyperdeath...

He would have a whole team of powerful, Legendary Pokémon.

1. Rayquaza: A Pokémon that spends its time flying around space, it sustains itself by eating meteors and is a nod to Asriel's meteor attack. It also has the same colour palette as younger Asriel.

2. Jirachi: A star-themed Pokémon that represents hopes, dreams, and wishes. It makes wishes come true when it opens the eye on its belly.

3. Palkia: The space-bending Pokémon, it is at odds with Sans's Pokémon, Dialga, a rivalry mentioned by Flowey after beating the game several times. Have you ever noticed that Asriel copies Sans's wink and shrug pose during his battle?

4. Mewtwo: Asriel sure adopted a bit of Chara's personality after becoming Flowey. Mewtwo is known for its hatred of People and Pokémon, and it is one of the strongest psychic types in the anime.

5. Eternatus: An extraterrestrial Pokémon that came down in a meteor. It endlessly absorbes energy and bends time-space.

6. Darkrai: A Pokémon that gives people nightmares and plunges them in a world of pitch blackness. It's perfect for Edgelord Asriel, who refers to his torture as Omega Flowey to a nightmare from which you'll never wake up!

Now, it's hard to pick ANOTHER Legendary for a character whose whole team is made of Legendaries, but I did my best. I think Xerneas is a good fit for an off-team Legendary. As for his Mythical, I chose Arceus, the God of Pokémon.

Xerneas: Xerneas's colour scheme fits Asriel's perfectly, from the purple and black middle to the glowing, rainbow horns. It is the life Pokémon, the opposite of the world ending Yveltal. I imagine this Pokémon would show up during the SAVE segment of Asriel's battle, helping restore the lost souls and restoring the world after the barrier is shattered by Arceus.

Arceus: The God of Pokémon, I imagine it would use its power to break the barrier. Like Asriel gaining energy from different coloured SOULs, Arceus changes its elemental power based on coloured plates.

assigning Lord Night a Pokemon team cuz my brain is mush

I was thinking his starter could be a Shuppet that evolves into a Banette (maybe while protecting Night?), and then a Delcatty as his second Pokemon. I considered Audino for his third but he would already have a Mega Evolving Pokemon with the Banette, so I was thinking maybe a different Pokemon that plays into the whole emotions sensing, like an Indeedee. I also wanna give him a Darkrai, since it's a very misunderstood Pokemon with a bad reputation due to it causing nightmares, so I feel like it'd be fitting. plus I wanna give him a single Legendary. not sure what to make his 5th and 6th Pokemon tho. thoughts?

It has been several years since I played Pokémon so the team you constructed is honestly way more then I would’ve been able to lol. Is protecting the owner like a special trait of a shuppet? I know some Pokémon like evolve from friendship or something so is that the same thing here? I looked the Pokémon up and yeah I can see him having that, same with the delcatty. and I think indeedee is super cute and fits with his interest in cats too! Darkrai is an obvious choice.

As for the other ones, maybe that one Pokémon that is like a child possessing a tree stump whatever it’s called? There’s another Pokémon too that I think he’d like, though I don’t know the name. Just that it’s a little grey Pokémon that the Pokédex entry mentions that if it does something related to its ears it will release so much energy that it destroys the world. (Update; it’s esper.). I think he’d like the tree stump guy because he finds him cute and feel bad for it, and since it evolves into the massive terrifying tree guy it’s very fitting. Esper mainly because I can see him befriending one and just being like “aw the a thousand yard stare :)” and keeping it

Bidoof and Jirachi are friends and visit eachother sometimes, although it doesn't happen super often because Jirachi is almost always tired/asleep

Dusknoir and Grovyle used to spar together before things went bad, so they both know each others tricks (though there are still certain moves that they have trouble dealing with, such has Grovyles ability to escape tight spaces)

Celebi has tiny little fae fangs because I said so

Chatot has a habit of perching on Wigglytuff's head

Armaldo? You mean Wigglytuff's adoptive uncle?

Armaldo has passed away by the time the main events of the game are happening, and Wigglytuff makes it a habit to visit his burial sight. Sometimes Chatot will accompany her and she'll tell him about all sorts of adventures they had together.

Chatot and Wigglytuff will occasionally stay up and discuss different things that are going on, or tell stories.

Crogunk was a criminal before he joined the guild

Crogunk, Chimecho, and Dugtrio are usually the ones who watch the guild if the others go out on an expedition

Sunflora has a crush on Loudred (but shh, don't tell anyone)

Chimecho is basically the guild's mom

Team Charm was what got Wigglytuff back into exploring with others, one of their adventures lead to her meeting Chatot and forming a guild

Team Charm will randomly visit the guild, mostly to get jobs, but they also visit with Wigglytuff and bond with some of the guild members, like Sunflora

Darkrai has talked to Dusknoir before, helping solidify that whole "gotta murder the good guys" thing (he also occasionally pops up in his nightmares)

Chatot and Wigglytuff are Manaphy's uncle/aunt/grandpa/grandma/whatever now I don't make the rules

Hero and partner almost always take Manaphy on adventures with them, once Manaphy is ready for them

Even when Manaphy leaves, Hero still has a habit of buying blue gummies from the Klecleon brothers

Dusknoir got to see the sunrise with Celebi and Grovyle and did NOT disappear just a second before it happened

Celebi and Dusknoir, weirdly enough, get along really well after everything happens

Grovyle and Dusknoir are capable of having civil conversations, even before they decide to team up. It's just not very likely to happen-

Dusknoir gives the best hugs (good luck getting him to give you one)

Also this is kind of canon but Dusknoir & the Sableye care a great deal for eachother

Future trio has trauma and tend to get jumpy whenever they're around Dialga

The legendaries will occasionally host little get togethers (both for fun and to make sure that things aren't exploding)

Sometimes they'll have honored guests at said get togethers, so Grovyle, Celebi, and Dusknoir get to meet a couple of them. (So do Partner & Hero, in their respective timeline)

Dusknoir & Grovyle play chess together, sometimes Celebi will join in for a three way chess battle, which is almost always chaotic and somehow she almost always wins.

Celebi has a habit of leaning on Dusknoir's head or holding Grovyle's head leaf.

Hero can kind of read the Unown alphabet

This goes for all of the games, but Hero & Partner are just reincarnated (though they can change genders and pokemon and all that, of course)

i was toying with the idea of ryo espeon instead of ryo glaceon for a total of five minutes the other day bc i know theres that whole thing about him being like 'haha maybe i have psychic powers!' and also people think his 'event prediction' was like, actual psychic ability which im pretty sure isnt ttrue but thats not what im here to talk about but then i remembered two things the first of which being

ryo is tech shiny and shiny espeon.... shiny espeon looks like this

so thats a hard no. my original thought was like 'aw pink ryo is cute' and then i remembered he wouldnt be pink anyways. so glaceon is fine i quite like that one (plus its a funny haha callback to how he was incased in ice bcos ice type :-] )

the SECOND thing i remembered is that the pmd2 hero literally. already kind of has "psychic" abilities. the dimensional scream is kind of a psychic power...? i mean its like, visions. ryo is the bearer of the curse ig

the guild + town npcs is kind of a case of like... just keeping the ideas there but mostly changing pkmn species to fit the character ig... like i like the idea of miko as like, diglett's role too (like a sentry type pkmn) but i dont want her to be a diglett lmfao

Are they on Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon/Insert Game Here? Fantastic, they will always be safe there.

What a fucking pity that you can’t move your 800 Pokemon to yet another game. I’m sure it will truly ruin the experience for you. (Though honestly, if the entire game is ruined because you don’t have 800 Pokemon.... I really don’t know how to respond to that. I’m genuinely a bit baffled.)

Yes, it’s gonna suck if your absolute favourite Pokemon isn’t in the new game (I know that I’d be really sad if Absol, Mimikyu, Zorua, and Darkrai don’t make it, but. If at least one does, I’ll be happy enough.)

But if not having eight hundred Pokemon sitting in a digital memory space is reason enough for you to boycott an entire game, then, well, I guess you’re the one who is gonna miss out on the fun new game in the end.

I’m tired of these people being fucking rude and using the hashtag in every single tweet any official Nintendo/Pokemon/even slightly related tweet they can.

Yes, it sucks, but your Pokemon are ALSO perfectly safe. I don’t remember them ever saying you were gonna lose them or that they were demanding people return their older games or add their entire Pokedex to the bank for deletion just to get the new game.

I know there’s also a lot of people out there who couldn’t afford every single new game, so they might not even have the 800+ to transfer anyway.

Honestly, it’s kinda nice that everyone is getting a hard reset. Maybe this will bring a LOT more new faces into the competitions. That would be nice to see. A chance for newer people to join in without the same people with their Pokemon from Generation ___ winning over and over again. 

It makes it feel like everyone is on a level field again, but whatever.

I’m just so tired of hearing the National Dex being a big reason to boycott the game.

People also bitch about the graphics being “too cartoony” but I’ve always just been totally lost on that one. I don’t remember Pokemon ever being hyperrealistic in the game-verse, and I distinctly remember a ton of people claiming the Let’s Go style was charming and cute, but I guess if it doesn’t look like Detective Pikachu, things ain’t good enough anymore.

1. Dogs or Cats?

I like both, I’ve had both and I’m perhaps a bit more cat person nowadays. Still dogs will always have a special place in my heart. Especially German shepherd dogs. They’re actual people in dog form, I swear.

2. YouTube celebrities or normal celebrities?

I’m not into either. Though if I had to pick one, then maybe normal. I may be old-fashioned, but I find it quite odd one can become famous by just filming their everyday life instead of being an actor in a movie, writing a book or composing an album.

3. If you could live anywhere where would that be?

Japan. Sure, every country has their own problems, but in Japan I like how they generally seem to appreciate nature, their community, healthy food and work still has value. Their street fashion also seems to be so multicolored I’d fit in pretty well, unlike in my current country.

4. Disney or DreamWorks?

I’m not a fan of either, but if I had to choose, definitely DreamWorks. One: they make better movies and more original ones, and two: I’ve never understood the Disney hype anyway.

5. Favourite childhood TV show?

Power Rangers. Though watched later also the original, Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, and it was a lot better than the US version. Recommending warmly!

6. The movie you’re looking forward to most in 2020?

Usually the more some franchise has sequels the more skeptical I’m becoming of their quality. However, I’m a fan of the first three Saw movies and Valak is definitely squad goals, so I was thinking of going and watching The Organ Donor and Conjuring 3.

7. Favourite book you read in 2019?

I still haven’t finished it thanks to a certain MMO, but I have The complete fiction of H.P. Lovecraft on the go.

8. Marvel or DC?

I don’t like either, I’m not into superheroes. I also have the same problem with Marvel as I have with Disney: the hype. It’s so unfathomable it has distanced me. Though DC has Watchmen and Rorschach was amazing in the movie, so I guess DC?

9. If you choose Marvel favourite member of the X-Men? If you choose DC favourite Justice League member?

Uh... the what? *googles Justice League* ..... I have no clue who these characters are, haha. They’re all so muscular... and pretty... and hero-looking... urgh. I think I’m feeling a bit sick. Where’s the villain I can be salty about when they die? And why isn’t Rorschach on the list? He’s the hero I deserve!

10. Night or Day?

Definitely night. Feeling like a corpse during days, and once it becomes dark it’s like “LET ME SING YOU THE SONG OF MY PEOPLE.”

Either Andrzej Sapkowski (the Witcher), Robin Hobb (Assassin’s apprentice) or Stephen King. Can’t decide.

I’ve never understood and most probably never will understand the fascination of pairings. Seems to me like everyone else are hyper excited of watching the grass grow and I’m just like ?? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ??? ?

22. Do you play an instrument/sing ?

I used to play piano when I was a kid, but then I got Playstation and I quit. Nowadays I have an ocarina, and can play A Place to Call Home and Black Mage Village from FFIX and Lilium from Elfen Lied. Would love to learn to play cello once I find some energy, time and money to get started.

4. The life and times of the Little Imp

So we’re getting into some major spoiler territory now, as this is going to come up in two major plot points. …Assuming I ever get the chance to actually write them

And as always, this is subject to change.

 The Little Imp is Laura’s immediate predecessor in the line of Rainbow Children, and her early life was far tamer. Like, a LOT tamer. She was born in the human world to a couple who already worshipped Relatia, so there was no fuss about trying to locate her or anything and the typical transitions between Rainbow Children was very smooth. Relatia got to meet her within hours of her birth, and her parents were very loving and attentive. She got to have both the necessary training she needed and an actual childhood, because they actually followed the spirit of the rules, rather than just the letter, and actually let her grow up and be her own person. As per tradition, her actual, legal name was also Laura—which is why Dusknoir assumed that Primal Dialga forbade him from telling the Laura we are used to about the Little Imp’s existence, since he knew enough about human culture and naming conventions that he could understand how that might confuse a child (kind of the same sort of principle as little kids being confused if you call their parents by their given name, or if their mother addresses the child’s grandmother as “mom,” y’know?). They were very strict, however, and she was often very stifled and sheltered. She didn’t have many opportunities to play. But she came by her nickname honestly whenever she got the chance to visit Relatia—around her she was very mischievous and liked to run around, climb on things, and play small harmless pranks and practical jokes. Relatia is the one who gave her the nickname, but she wouldn’t be able to come into it fully and embrace it until after she went to the Pokemon World.

The biggest issue in her life came from a couple who was friends with the family—and more specifically, with their son. The friends were more the “we’ve been friends since we were young, but we really don’t actually get along all that well and don’t have anything in common… but we also don’t really hate each other?” type of friends than the actual good kind, but, well. They seemed pleasant enough on the surface. Almost too pleasant, really, and they were always trying to ingratiate themselves to the Little Imp—especially in regards to their son. Who was infatuated with the Little Imp, even though she never, ever reciprocated those feelings.

The thing about romance and Rainbow Children is that they are not actually bound to being celibate, or to swearing off romance. Nowhere in the “rules” does it say that she cannot marry or have children—and she actually has done both in a few past lives. Just… not often, because it always ends up in some sort of heartbreak. Usually hers. Or guilt from her next life, when she does not have clear memories of her former husband or children who may still be alive and meet their mother’s/wife’s successor. Not to mention the residual guilt and heartbreak she always carries because she has never, ever gotten over Mason. It’s her guilt about her memories that stops her every time, as well as the fact that she typically treats each life as though she’s an entirely new person each time and just shares her soul with her past lives. Kind of like Aang, from Avatar the Last Airbender, I suppose, with the way he treats his past lives… but also not really, because she still has limited access to all her memories and obviously can’t speak to past Rainbow Children the way Aang can speak to the other Avatars.

This is also a rather inaccurate perception for other reasons, which will become clear later, but at the same time… well, it’s complicated enough to think about, let alone try and explain. I guess the easiest thing to say would be that she IS the same person throughout all her lives, but she’s also different. Nature and nurture both have an effect on her. If she could actually remember things the way Mason apparently can lifetime to lifetime, then things would be different. But it is what it is—the point being that marriage and taking lovers is always an option for the Rainbow Children, but, despite their deepest wishes, they generally decline. When they don’t, it’s typically for things like marriages of convenience, or protection. They are happy to be mothers to any children that come along as the results of these marriages—ecstatic, even—but they always hold onto the guilt that they know will come when they can’t remember them in their next life. Even though it’s not their fault, they always feel responsible, and as if they are a bad mother since they can no longer be there for their children—who really aren’t even their children any more, in any case. There are also plenty of times where they have agreed to be a surrogate mother—both the actual biological mother and as just the carrier—and been completely happy and guilt free to do so. Being a beloved friend, aunt, or caretaker does not cause nearly as much grief in the next life, since she knows those kids had actual parents who could shower them in love and be there for them when she couldn’t. But I digress.

The point is that this couple and their son (whose name I haven’t decided on) did not get the memo. Since they know it is still a possibility, they tried to subtly push at every turn to get their son to become the Little Imp’s husband because they thought that such an alliance would bring them further glory. And of course their son picked up on that, and carried the entitled attitude and infatuation with him for the rest of his life. Or at least the rest of his life that the Little Imp knew about, since she obviously was not there for all of it, what with the whole “ended up in the pokemon world” thing.

…Come to think of it… It is entirely possible that he ends up becoming the father of the Laura we are more used to. It would be almost fitting, in a way, though of course that is in no way set in stone.

Point is, it became a lot more obvious what the couple and their son were hoping for after the Little Imp turned thirteen and realized who she was. Thankfully, she did not have to interact with him all that much when her more intensive training began. When the Little Imp is somewhere between 18 and 20, she starts/becomes employed at an orphanage, becoming pretty much the sole caretaker—she figures it’s the closest she will get to motherhood—or, rather, the closest she can get without feeling guilty about it. But the boy, now a man, will. Not. Give. Up. And has stepped up his game, actually becoming creepy and kind of violent—which was another reason she started working at the orphanage, as it got her far away from him. But he was still relentless, did not give up, and was really starting to make things miserable for her. Not helping this was that her parents died shortly after she ascended as the Rainbow Child, so she lost a major support group. Relatia loves and cares for her… but she can’t always be around, and at that point the Little Imp was still too young and untrained to go with her as she did her divine duties.

Anyways, eventually Primal Dialga decides, for whatever reason, that he wants to bring the Rainbow Child to the pokemon world. This is not exactly the most advisable thing to do, but he doesn’t really care. Nor does he care about all the spatial issues he caused when he sent Dusknoir—then just Dusclops—across space in order to “convince” her to come. Palkia did not need all that mess on top of everything else, and is not very happy with him. But he’s too busy fixing and stabilizing it to actually go after him. And it’s not like he would have done it from a simply moral standpoint, either, as he didn’t bother doing anything before and was content to just sit and wait around in his rift since, ironically, time stopping didn’t actually mess with space as much as you would think, given all the issues that were apparently happening in the post-game. Then again, who knows how much of that was really an issue vs. whatever Darkrai was up to.

But back to Dusclops and how he’s faring in a world where time flows properly after what he’s been used to… yeah. He wasn’t exactly in the best place to actually accomplish his mission, so it’s a good thing that the Little Imp actually saw him first as she was taking a walk on the beach and recognized what he was and which world he came from, despite the fact that there hadn’t been any travel between the human and pokemon worlds for nearly a thousand years—which is another important plot point, but one that is only semi-relevant to the topic at hand, and will not be touched upon at this time. She was, of course, excited, but managed to both remain calm and get him to remain calm and actually explain to her who he was and what he was doing there. She was of course shocked and dismayed to hear about the state of the pokemon world, and, both surprisingly and unsurprisingly, was perfectly willing to go back there with him. Just… not for the reasons Dialga wanted—he essentially just wanted the Rainbow Child to be there. Not exactly as a friend, but not as something/someone lesser, either. He’s not really sure what he wanted out of this relationship except her just… being there. Because things made sense the last time a Rainbow Child was around. And he missed seeing them visit every lifetime, even if he was sad that they couldn’t remember him and all the good times they shared. The Little Imp, of course, was hopeful that she could go and act as some sort of stabilizing presence for him, or to figure out how to fix things—since, after all, the whole point of the Time Gears was to stop this from happening in the first place, and as far as she and anyone else knows, dealing with Temporal Tower and its issues is the reason Relatia gave her the gift of reincarnation in the first place, even if her reasoning has changed in the past millenia.

But in either case, she asks Dusclops to wait a little before they head to the pokemon world. She has to get someone to watch the kids, for one, not to mention pack her own things and see if Relatia will be back from whenever soon so that she can come too and hopefully help figure out what’s going on. Failing that, she would at least like to leave some sort of explanatory message.

Unfortunately, the boy is through being “nice,” and about a day or so after the Little Imp gets the ball rolling in terms of all these plans, he comes after her, and tries to take her by force—even going so far as to burn down the orphanage. Thankfully all the kids got out without being injured, but that was pretty much the last straw for the Little Imp, and she all but begged Dusclps to take them back to the pokemon world right then and there, note to Relatia or no. He complies, and they head off.

Of course, hearing about the dark future and actually seeing it are two completely different things, and the situation is much worse than the Little Imp could have possibly imagined. She also gets the suspicion that when Relatia eventually finds out from someone what happened to her, it would cause a big mess with Dialga’s sanity being the way it is and Relatia’s temper and protectiveness, and she’s 90% certain that the pokemon world would get irreparably broken in the fight that would ensue over her if the two were to meet, so she somehow, some way puts up the block that Relatia mentioned in the story that prevented her from traveling to the pokemon world. The Little Imp feels really bad about it, but figures that it is the safer option for everyone.

Many shenanigans ensue while the Little Imp is there acting as a sort of morality chain for Primal Dialga, including, but not limited to, Dusclop evolving into Dusknoir on one of their many adventures, her giving him heart attacks on a regular basis with her tendency to act wild and climb every tall thing she conceivably could, saving Celebi’s life, saving the lives of the sableye and basically becoming their surrogate mother, etc.

But one day while she was doing the aforementioned tree climbing, she accidentally got a cut on her palm. And it got infected, and she became ill with a rather nasty disease that she didn’t have immunities from since pokemon don’t really seem to know what vaccinations are/have the ability to give someone a vaccination, and the Little Imp didn’t get the vaccinations typical of those who are in danger of accidentally falling into different worlds (since there is actually a job for that among Relatia’s people—they basically watch and monitor space and time streams and portals so they can either give Relatia a heads up or use some minor power to fix things themselves—which, of course, leaves them a little at risk of ending up in places where they shouldn’t) since she was never supposed to leave the human world. So, as we saw while the Spirit Trio were enacting their ill-advised plan in the Cave of Reflections… the Little Imp died. She was somewhere around 25 or 26.

And then she was reborn as Laura, kicking off the plot of the games and The World’s Treasure.

And you’d better believe that Dialga/Dusknoir figured out what illness the Little Imp died of and how to cure it before Laura arrived. Thankfully, she actually got the complete set of vaccinations beforehand, so it was never a worry for her. Then she became a treecko, and it was even less of a worry.

…And this was still easier to write than those essays I have to do. I am… really not looking forward to actually having to work on them tomorrow. Especially the second one.

Rockruff - Out of the five girls, Rockruff fits Chiaki the most

Porygon-Z and Rotom - I gave her these two because she is an AI. 

Azumarill - A reference to Monomi

Alolan Meowth - Meowth reminds me of her hoodie

Jigglypuff - Jigglypuff is here because it reminds me of Chiaki’s design.

Maki:

I gave her a bunch of Pokemon who I thought fit her talent the most

Zoroark - It can take advantage of it’s ability during assassinations. Before Maki’s talent was revealed Zoroark was most likely disguised as a Chansey, Blissey or Kangaskhan.

Houndoom - Houndoom can be considered a very cruel Pokemon and can surely kill someone. It can help Maki with assassinations.

Sneasel, Pawniard, Accelgor and Greninja - All of them are agile Pokemon who can help Maki.

Tenko

For Tenko i mostly chose feminine looking Pokemon for obvious reasons.

Mienshao - Mienshao reminds me a lot of Tenko’s design

Lopunny - Lopunny is a very feminine Pokemon and I thought it fits Tenko because of that.

Nidorina - A female only Pokemon

Munna - There’s a concept in Aikido called “Munen” or “Mushin” which roughly translates to “no thought”. That concept could have inspired Munna and Musharna’s names.

Riolu - Riolu only has a 12.5% of being female, however I still think it fits Tenko and she most likely has a female one and is very proud of that fact.

Medicham - Just like Riolu and Lopunny I just thought that Medichan fits her.

Himiko

Braixen - The gen 6 starters have Knight, Mage and Thief/Ninja theme and Fennekin’s evolutionary line’s theme is Mage. Braixen also has a wand-like stick which likely drives from that theme.

Vulpix - Same thing as Rockruff for Chiaki. Vulpix just fits Himiko the most.

Litten and Pidove - References to Himiko’s official art.

Bunnelby - Reference to the “pulling bunny from a top hat” trick.

Abra - Kadabra and Alakazam are both based on magicians. Abra is asleep for 18 hours a day and fits Himiko’s tired nature.

Celeste

Liepad - A reference to Celeste’s cat. Liepad’s name also comes from “Lie” and “Leopard” and Celeste happens to be a very good liar.

Ninetales - Ninetales is a very intelligent Pokemon and can take control over an opponent’s mind. Celeste is shown to be very intelligent and manipulative.

Mismagius, Lycanroc and Mawile - I just thought they would fit Celeste based on design. For Lycanroc I noticed a severe lack of Rock types and chose a Rock type that I thought fits her the most.

Darkrai - Same reason as Rockruff and Vulpix. It fits Celeste the most.

Absolutely Disastrous Ch 8

Ch 8: Lost in the Woods! Another Costumed Weirdo?

“I think we’re lost.”

“We’re not lost. We’ve taken a slight detour from the recommended path.”

“So we’re lost.”

“Think of it as the scenic route,” Milo suggested, looking at his map again. Before he could show Melissa and Zack their current location in the Petalburg Woods, a Linoone snatched the paper out of his hands and disappeared into a clump of berry bushes.

Unfazed, Milo brought out a second map. “Okay, so we’re near a bunch of Oran trees right now, so if we head north we should see some birches and hang the second right.”

Zack groaned, resting his back against a mossy rock. “Too bad everything looks the same.”

“I also have a topography map, a latitude map, and a map of Silph Co’s ventilation and teleporter system,” Milo said. “Never really understood their teleporter thing. Seems kinda bad for employee morale.”

They’d been wandering around Petalburg Woods all morning, and so far they’d had little luck making sense of their surroundings. Every tree looked the same, packed together so densely that it was almost impossible to tell where one tree ended and another began. He’d heard ghost stories of a forest in Sinnoh. According to the tales, it was always nighttime because the sun’s rays never reached the ground, making it a prime spot for ghosts to lure unsuspecting travelers to their dilapidated manor.

Dr. Magnezone fans loved using Sinnoh’s folklore and ghost stories as inspiration. Milo once saw Sara cry over a fanfic where Dr. Magnezone had to search for a Lunar Wing to relieve Time Infernape of a Darkrai-inflicted nightmare before the stress killed him.

“Hey, let’s break for a bit,” Melissa said. She laid down on a large protruding root. “I can’t wait to get out of forest territory.”

Milo found a cozy spot next to a fallen log, and Zack reclined against a tree trunk.

“Zack, there’s gotta be some spooky tales in Johto,” Milo said. “You should tell us one!”

“Yeah, spill!” Melissa prodded Zack in the arm.

Zack winced and rubbed his arm. “Do you cut your nails into claws or something?”

Melissa shrugged. “I jab hard, Underwood. You gonna tell us a ghost story or what?”

“Neither of you are gonna let up until I tell you one, huh?” Zack sighed.

“Nope!” Milo and Melissa chorused. Diogee looked up from his water bowl, red eyes boring expectantly into Zack.

“Fine,” Zack said. “This one isn’t for the faint of heart, so be warned.”

Milo and Melissa leaned forward in anticipation.

“Two millennia ago, a beautiful maiden fell in love with a soldier. One day, the soldier had to go fight in a distant land. As the maiden watched him disappear over the horizon, she swore she would never fall in love with anyone else, and that she would always look towards the ocean in anticipation of his return.”

Milo’s eyes started to water. Melissa gripped her skirt tightly.

“The years passed, but she still waited. Every suitor was turned down, all attempts to coax her away from the cliff failed. Eventually, a deity took pity on her. She agreed to be transformed into a statue atop the cliff so she could continue watching the horizon. The deity also appointed a messenger Pokémon to maintain the house and keep the maiden’s soul company while she kept her eternal vigil. To this day, she continues to wait and pray.”

Milo wiped away a stray tear, and Diogee had to carefully nudge him a few feet so a tree didn’t crash on top of him.

“That was…sad,” Melissa admitted. “How ‘bout something in the horror department to even it out?”

“Gimme a minute,” Milo said, burying his face into Diogee’s fur to calm himself down. “I got one.”

He took a deep breath, holding a flashlight under his chin for added dramatic effect. Zack drew a sharp breath.

“Once there was a little girl who lived in a cottage. Her mommy and daddy scrounged and begged and pleaded for scraps of food, for they were poorer than dirt,” Milo began, keeping his voice so low that Melissa and Zack had to strain to hear him.

He paced as he continued the story, feeling three sets of innocent eyes processing every word and movement. Milo smirked and continued. “One day, the little girl was left alone in the house. As she did her daily chores like any good child would do, she looked out the window. A doll laid in the dirt, its seams torn and one of its button eyes missing. It was ugly and nobody would’ve spared a second glance. But the little girl took pity on the doll and fixed it up with the only bolt of spare fabric her family had.”

“Oh no,” Zack whispered. Melissa elbowed him.

“When the last seam was closed, the doll offered to grant three wishes for the little girl. First, she wished that her family would never go hungry again. That night, her parents came home to find a feast fit for a royal banquet waiting for them. The little girl showed them the doll and explained what she’d done, and her parents were too grateful to question her any further. But trouble arose when the mother didn’t have material to make new clothes with, so the little girl asked the doll for endless wealth so her mother could purchase the finest and rarest silks and wool. The doll granted the second wish, and the family lived happily for many years.”

“The little girl grew into a beautiful woman, and she attracted the attention of a prince. They courted for a while, and the woman showed him the doll who’d saved her family from poverty. Disgusted by its horrible appearance, the prince broke off their engagement and rode away into the night. Because she still loved him, the woman asked the doll to grant her final wish: have the prince fall back in love with her. Once it was granted, the woman laid the doll on her childhood bed and went back to the castle. She planned to never return to the cottage and sever all ties with her poverty-filled life to make sure the prince stayed in love with her.”

Milo paused. The tension was thick enough to cut with a butter knife.

“The woman married the prince and forgot all about the doll. But the doll never forgot her. It granted all her wishes without complaint. It kept her company for ten years. And now it laid in a dark room, never to see the sun again. Anger consumed its mind. Oh, how it thirsted for vengeance. It flew to the castle on an otherworldly energy, and there it spotted the woman, brushing her hair…alone.”

He could see the whites of Zack’s eyes, and Milo crept closer, curling his hands into claws and looming as best he could.

“It crept closer…closer…closer…” Milo punctuated each word with a silent step until he hovered over Zack. Zack pressed himself against the tree with a strangled yelp.

“-and then it POUNCED!”

“AIYEEEH!”

Milo pulled Zack to his feet, laughing so hard he couldn’t breathe. “Oh man!” Milo doubled over. “That was, ha! Got you real good!”

Zack just stared at him. “I didn’t scream.”

“Wasn’t me either,” Melissa said. “Believe me, you would know if Zack screamed cause he sounds like a plucked Swellow. Whoever screamed a few minutes ago has more of a tone-deaf Loudred combined with a sick Swablu frequency.”

“I don’t sound like a plucked Swellow,” Zack mumbled.

“NO! DON’T TAKE MY PAPERS!”

Everyone jumped to their feet as a terrified businessman rushed past their resting spot and tripped over a large root. His briefcase spilled open, papers fluttering all around him. He dazedly shoved them back into the briefcase, muttering several curses to himself.

“Hand over those papers, old man!” another voice snarled.

The other man was dressed in a lava-red uniform, a stylized ‘M’ emblazoned across his chest. His hood had two strange horns on top. Milo stared at him, wondering why someone would choose to wear a thick red onesie in Hoenn’s tropical climate.

Diogee growled menacingly, only backing off when Milo gestured for him to stand down until they figured out what happened.

“What’s going on here?” Melissa asked.

“He’s trying to rob me!” the businessman shouted. “I swear, all I did was stop to take pictures of a Shroomish-I’ve always liked that Pokémon, you see-and Hoodie there jumped me and tried to steal my documents!”

“How many times have I told you to quit calling me Hoodie? It’s Ignacio! I-G-N-A-C-I-O!”

His protests went ignored as the group collected all the stray papers and put them back into the suitcase.

“Thank you, children,” the businessman gasped breathlessly. “I’m just gonna be going now and-“

Ignacio scowled. “You aren’t going anywhere! Hand over those papers or face the wrath of Team Magma!”

He posed dramatically, which would’ve looked a lot more threatening if he’d chosen a target without knowledge of meme culture.

Ignacio released a Zigzagoon and Koffing. “You’ve trampled on Team Magma’s dreams, and that’s unforgivable! For I am the Magma Grunt Ignacio who stands for humanity’s brighter tomorrow! In the name of Groudon, I shall incinerate you!”

“Aren’t you supposed to be saying love and justice or something?” Melissa asked.

“I wanted to, but it was copyrighted,” Ignacio admitted. “Seriously, I’m not a monster. I respect copyright law.”

“Whatever. I’ll sit this one out, boys,” Melissa said, dragging the businessman out of the way. “While you kick his butt, I’ll be organizing my photos.”

“I don’t remember you taking photos,” Zack said.

Melissa smirked. “I work in mysterious ways.”

“Enough babbling!” Ignacio sneered. “You fools will know the wrath of the 27th ranked Magma goon!”

“That’s supposed to be a bragging point?” Zack scoffed as he sent out Treecko.

Treecko chewed on his stick placidly as he sized up his opponents. Diogee moved into position, eyes fixated on Koffing.

Living near Mt. Chimney had long acquainted Milo and Diogee with the local Pokémon and their habits. Machop liked to test their strength by weightlifting Geodude, and one should never disturb their contests unless they wanted 44.1 pounds of living rock hurtled at them. Numel preferred sand baths, and Torkoal could only distinguish between light and dark.

On the Murphy Ranch, they sometimes had to announce the Purple Protocol in the event of a Koffing wandering onto the property. Its smoke and poisonous gas was harmful to the developing lungs of young humans and Absol, so all minors were to stay inside until the adults had gotten rid of the smoke and contained the Koffing until it could be relocated.

And it had the only type advantage on the current battlefield.

This was gonna be interesting.

“Create a Smokescreen cover!” Ignacio ordered. “Zigzagoon, Quick Attack on Treecko!”

Black gas spewed out of Koffing’s pores, obscuring it from view. Treecko braced himself, eyes trained on the smoke.

There was a slight rustle in the bushes behind Treecko, and a blurred shape shot out.

“Look out!” Zack yelled.

Zigzagoon knocked Treecko off-balance, though Treecko managed to dislodge it with a Pound. Soon the two were engaged in a high-speed Quick Attack fight.

Meanwhile, Milo and Diogee were trying to locate Koffing inside all the black haze with no luck.

Ignacio smirked. “Use Sludge!”

“Diogee, watch out!” Milo warned, but it was too late. Diogee’s eyes were covered in an inky material. Rearing back on his hind legs, Diogee unleashed several Cut attacks in random directions. One of them hit Koffing in the middle of its skull pattern, and another clipped Treecko’s tail. Zigzagoon emerged unscathed, though it panted heavily from exertion.  

A pile of splintered wood and apples crashed to the ground. There were some indignant squawks from bird Pokémon above, but none of them came down to disrupt the battle.

Zack snapped his fingers. “Use Mega Drain on Zigzagoon and get your strength back,” he said.

Zigzagoon was too dazed to follow Ignacio’s instructions to dodge, and a bright green glow lit up its body. The energy flowed into Treecko’s fingertips, rejuvenating him instantly.

“Great! Now grab those apples and stuff ‘em into Koffing’s pores!” Zack exclaimed.

Upon hearing his command, Melissa stuffed her unfinished scrapbook into her bag and hauled the businessman to his feet. “Zack, you do realize-“

Zack had a gleam in his eye.

“Uh, Melissa, I think your battle style’s rubbing off on him,” Milo said awkwardly.

Treecko grabbed a handful of apples and weaved around Koffing, easily outmaneuvering the Poison-type. Within minutes, Koffing’s pores were plugged, Treecko dusting his hands triumphantly.

“C’mon, blow those apples out!” Ignacio screeched.

Koffing groaned, eyes squeezed shut as it tried to blow the apples out. But Treecko had jammed them tightly, and only minuscule amounts of gas leaked into the air. With one last inhale, a glowing Koffing dropped into Treecko’s arms.

Treecko blinked for a moment, then tossed Koffing at Zack and hid behind Melissa, who backed away slowly.

“ACK!” Zack screamed and tossed the Poison-type at Milo.

“It’s using Self-Destruct!” Milo yelped, striking Koffing with a two-handed serve that would’ve made a professional volleyball player proud.

The Koffing landed in the businessman’s arms. The man paled immediately. “GlorytoArceusinthehighest,” he muttered a prayer rapidly in some ancient language Milo wasn’t even sure existed in their dimension.

“Quit being a baby!” Melissa snapped, yanking Koffing out of his arms and hurling it at Ignacio’s face.

But since Melissa was Melissa, she only managed to toss it one foot.

Koffing unceremoniously fell to the ground, its glow almost blinding.

“Diogee, follow my voice!” Milo yelled, grabbing Diogee’s horn once he was close enough and guiding him out of the blast radius.

“COWARDS!” Ignacio shook his fist as everyone fled the immediate vicinity. “WE IN TEAM MAGMA ALWAYS STAND OUR GROUND! FOR WE ARE PILLARS OF HUMANITY, UNYIELDING IN RESOLVE AND PUTTING OUR FOOT DOWN ON ALL MATTERS AND CRUSHING THOSE WHO OPPOSE US!”

“We should put him and Patchy in a room together,” Melissa remarked. “Who needs primetime television when you’ve got them?”

“You might want to reconsider your foot position,” Milo called to Ignacio.

Ignacio glanced down, his eyes widening to comical proportions.

“Well, crud.”

Koffing exploded in a glorious blaze of white light.

“Don’t worry,” Melissa told the trembling businessman, who seemed convinced that he would be arrested for environmental disturbances and manslaughter. “It’s just his pride that didn’t survive.”

AN: Ghost of Maiden’s Peak took place in Kanto, not Johto, but they share the same landmass so what the hey.

Using Koffing as a beach ball is ill-advised.

What ever happened to the other TQftL one-shot? I know one of them ended up as chapter 76, but the other one? I remember you posted the first few sentences from it on the quest blog since those were non-spoilery (which the server ate years ago along with a bunch of other good stuff), but is this still a thing or did plans change or something? This has been bugging me for a while now.

One-Shot A ended up as the first scene of chapter 75, the one with Mitch! One-Shot B was parts of chapter 76. Technically later there was a third one, ‘chaletwo.docx’, about Chaletwo and Mew shortly after Chaletwo’s creation, half of which became the inspiration for the final scene of chapter 76 and the other half of which (unfinished) never made it in as I deemed it unnecessary. I talk about that one a little in the chapter 25 commentary that’s going up tomorrow.

I think you may actually be referring to the QftLverse creation story that I wrote, though, because I did post an excerpt from that, but I don’t think I ever posted an excerpt from One-Shot A (it would’ve given too much away, I think). That would be this thing here. I was originally going to make that an extra at the end, but ultimately I pretty much just fit the really relevant information into chapter 76, so I didn’t feel it was needed.

I guess I can post the rest of that, though, for the hell of it! It’s a poor attempt at mythical writing last edited in 2008, so please excuse the general badness, but. (Serious spoilers if you haven’t read the fic.)

“But then, atlast, one of the many incarnations of Mew – for the Creator’s first work wasalways to honor his predecessor and create another Mew – felt pity forChalenor. They talked and began to understand one another, as no being sincehas understood another being; and Chalenor felt joy and calm and love for thefirst time. But the thousand years that Mew was destined to live passed like abreeze, and though Chalenor wanted to save Mew from the fate of hispredecessors, he was unable to control the effects of his power, and Mew’s strengthwas drained day by day.”

I’m actually kind of impressed with the degree to which this thing is still accurate, for being last edited in 2008; I didn’t think I’d realized Chalenor’s emotive color-changing thing was rooted in being made of Arceus’s out-of-control emotions until later than that. But as the actual events are told in chapter 76, I ditched the bit about Darkrai that didn’t really add much of anything beyond hey look here’s how Darkrai comes into it, there’s more intentionality to Arceus creating Chalenor (the myth makes it sound like Chalenor just sort of happened when his soul shattered, although it does go on to say his presence was “expressing the last will of Arceus”, so it may just be a more mythlike way of saying the same thing), and Mew isn’t literally the first person ever to sympathize with Chalenor because come on, really.

The “and they understood each other MORE THAN ANYONE EVER” is a bit over-the-top too (and not really accurate, actually, what with them each managing to conceal their massive issues from one another), but I think we can chalk that up to the mythical writing.

(But they absolutely were the bestest BFFs.)

(Also why does the myth go on this long. Why does the myth go into Mew and Chalenor’s personal relationship and not just stop at Chalenor developing a soul. I guess the reason I cut it off so abruptly there was that I realized oh whoops this myth shouldn’t actually be going this far along the timeline at all, this is One-Shot B material now, let’s stop.)
