Hot damn I love this community sometimes

Favorite game is probably 4, 3 is a close one tho (My order from fav to least fav: Pikmin 4, Pikmin 3/Pikmin 3 Deluxe, Pikmin 1, Pikmin 2, Pikmin Bloom (if that counts lol), That One Nintendo Land Pikmin Game, and Hey, Pikmin!) (2 isn't a bad game, it's just not my cup of tea. The music slaps tho)

Yes I have played Hey, Pikmin! and while it's not a good Pikmin game, it's a pretty decent game (You get me? Like, it's a decent game with a pretty good concept, the formula just doesn't work in the Pikmin series.)

I have cried when playing every Pikmin game, some when I was a child. I did cry at both the Pikmin 3, and Pikmin 4 credits. Shut up, it was wonderful dude

I still almost tear up at the Pikmin 3 credits. Dude that shit is sad for some reason idk why

I also did cry at the trailer for Pikmin 3 Deluxe and both of Pikmin 4's. I love this series if you can't tell.

And finally, I have beaten Pikmin 3 so many times on the Wii U, I got so bored that I did a 1 type of fruit a day challenge. I did it. I lived. It was funny as hell. I have made that game beg for mercy and the Plasm Wraith has become my play thing. (I love 3 so much lmao)

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

Currently 16! 13 of which are all Trollhunters lmao.

2. What's your total A03 word count?

542,419 words. Wow. That's a little crazy ngl.

3. What fandom's do you write for?

Mostly Trollhunters/Tales of arcadia. But I've written a oneshot for She-Ra and the Princesses of Power and one for Scrooge: A Christmas Carol (2022). And I've done a multichapter fic for Arcane: League of Legends. Probably going to do more fics for that eventually. And I have two planned for The owl house I'm really excited about!

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do! In my first fic I was hesitant to the first couple of chapters, but now I make a effort as I know how awesome it is to get a reply from the author on fics I've left comments on myself. And also because sometimes I have wonderful conversations!

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

This is a bit hard to pin down, because while a decent amount of my fics go really, really angsty, they tend to end on a slightly hopeful note. But I'd think it's either Through the Veil which while the actual end is rather uplifting, it's overshadowed by the torment all the characters have gone through or chapter 4 of my prompt collection for Stricklake month: corruption. Which is... Sad.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Hmm well my main fics are not finished so I can't put any of them down... Er most of them end happily? I guess for the top one A change in a moment, since I also barely killed any characters in the end...

8. Do you get hate on fics?

No. Very thankfully.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Anything explicit? No. I've tentively suggested it, but not in any detail.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I have not yet. One of my aforementioned Owl house fics I have planned will be a crossover, with Trollhunters, but nothing crazy.

Unless we're talking about the Arcane/Disney Tangled crossover, but that's a soft crossover, with a wholly Arcane cast of characters.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Nope. At least not that I'm aware of.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Again, not to my knowledge.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No... It was going to happen at some point, but then it didn't. Which was fair, even if disappointing.

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

It's Stricklake. I have loads more I like a lot, but that's the one that made me start writing fanfiction.

15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

This isn't really applicable, I plan to finish every fic I start, but there's one that's taking longer than I like to complete, which is Heart of Stone. It's close to the finish line, I just need to push myself there.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I like to think I'm pretty good at creating snappy dialogue with plenty of banter. And that my worldbuilding is pretty damn good. Also that I'm able to consistently keep a large cast of characters IN character and balance them all. I'm also fairly good at descriptions and gore.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I think sometimes I struggle with pacing, and the flow of my writing can be clunky at times. I also find filler chapters less interesting to write, even if they're important to set later things up.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I do end up doing this at one point or another in most of my fics! I use Google translate lol. I'm not ashamed. I also use italics if it's not English, with the translation in my notes at the end.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Trollhunters! The first show to get me into fandom, and fanfic and tumblr! It was the first in a lot of things.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

Has to be Challenging Destiny! It's just about halfway, but the reception to it and it's faithfulness to the source, as well as the heaps of research and worldbuilding I've put into it has made it the fic I'm the most proud of. It's got a big cast of different characters to balance, which just adds to the challenge lol. But it's worth it.

Hello Popo, I hope you are very well, first I want to thank you for your great work with the translations, and your other contributions to the BSD community. Well now if I explain to you, chapter 105.5 has several points that cause me a lot of uncertainty. The first is why didn't the Woman stop time when Fyodor was going to kill her? She could have taken the gun from him and attacked him with it. And second, if the door is not fully closed and there was an opening the water could leak in, why did the room fill with water and almost completely cover them in chapter 101? If they were able to get out through said crack, it means it's big enough for the water to come out in large quantities, how come Dazai who was in the control room didn't notice through the cameras that the door wasn't closed properly and probably was there a water leak? Also, in chapter 101, when Chuuya punches at the door, it is seen to be locked tight. I would like to know what your opinion or point of view is about what I have just told you or if it is the case that I misinterpreted or overlooked something that explains it, you can remind me. Now yes, sorry for so much text and cause maybe there's any mistake (English is not my native language) and thank you very much for answering, I really appreciate any contribution from you ❤️❤️

About your questions, well, personally I think that probably, all the details that led to your uncertainties is either caused by the fact that Asagiri didn't think it through, or there are some gaps between what Asagiri has in his head and what Harukawa actually drew, which happened a lot when the author and the artist are 2 different people (Asagiri once talked about how he gave Harukawa just very short and simple instructions on what to draw).

But I'm still gonna try and explain them in my own understanding. I don't do this a lot because, as I said above, I don't look too much into details in BSD cuz there are a lot of holes, so I don't know if its gonna be any of use to you, but I'm gonna try.

You made a great point about the catwoman not stopping time when Fyodor was going to kill her. I honestly didn't realize she had that option. For this one, what I could come up with is that it has something to do with Fyodor's ability that we haven't known of. He was touching her when holding her down so his ability might have done st that prevents her from activating her ability. Another possibility is that she normally cannot use her ability freely in captive. Mersault is a top-class prison, so I'm pretty sure they are aware of her ability, and might have put some restriction on her. She could use her ability to stop time and help Dazai, probably because she had a deal with Ango, and Ango had done something in the back to help her regain the control of her ability for a specific amount of time etc.

About the gate, well, I cannot come up with any convincing explanation, but there must be a lot of doors and the control room's camera cannot show them all at the same time, and Dazai was focusing on the room with Fyodor and Chuuya, so that's why he might have missed it. When the water was filling it became harder to see the gate too. About the room being filled with water despite the waterleak, if the speed of water pouring in is larger than the speed of it leaking out, the room will be filled at some point anyway. And isn't that what Fyodor was waiting for so that Dazai would not be able to see him sneak through the door and escape?

The part when Chuuya punched the door in Chapter 101... well, let's pretend he was punching the wall instead XDD

I know it’s personal and everything but ughhh I hope Noah won’t begin to have some kind of internalized homophobia because of all those comments. if I'm not mistaken, in the interview about his coming out he said that when he was younger he always convinced himself that he just couldn’t be gay or smth. He also said that he got really sad and depressed (or something like that) in college when he realized that he’s gay and couldn’t even talk about it with his mother. And then he posted his coming out vid and started crying when people accepted him. Now people write things like that and he probably sees it all. Just makes me sad a lil

i understand your worries. even though we don’t know noah personally, i think internalised homophobia is something he has always dealt with, since whenever he was aware that he liked boys. and probably will deal with for a while yet. he’s definitely not the type to be homophobic toward others but when it’s himself, it can be complicated. even in this day and age, and maybe with his jewish faith. jewish mothers like to tease their sons about finding a nice jewish girl and having jewish children. but noah’s mother seems incredibly supportive (and didn’t noah say she somehow always knew?) but it still can’t be easy for noah, if having a family is something he’d like one day. luckily, it doesn’t have to be conventional. he can find a nice jewish boy, and having children is always possible for gay men. but i digress, as i doubt it’s what is on his mind rn. it’s the so called fanbase being vile, and coming out must’ve taken a lot. i don’t doubt he has a support system in his family and friends, and i don’t know why he deleted or archived the video where he comes out, but it’s likely he’s trying to keep things professional in the meantime. especially when his sexuality is being weaponised against him right now. it’s such a burden, and at his age too. don’t worry, i don’t think he’s going backwards; he’s just keeping some things close to his chest since a section of the fanbase cannot behave or respect boundaries when it comes to his personal life and his beliefs. 💚

I think not everyone here on this blog is good enough in English! some of them maybe they're trying so hard to spell the words and write them correctly so that we can understand. And you said it already, there's a bunch of different countries with different time zones reading your blog, so not all of them their first language is English. Also not every french is the mysterious girlfriend, Idk about her but she's probably feeling embarrassed after what happened recently when we discovered it was a made up thing.

absolutely, i know i have many readers and contributors who don't speak english as their primary language! and honestly, most of them who mention it outright are actually excellent at communicating in english lol the tumblr mystery girl anon is but one person, so you're right, every french visitor to this blog is not her! after reviewing old messages (i delete a lot of questionable asks for various reasons, but i almost always screenshot them with a timestamp because i like to document everything) i came to believe that she had at least one friend in on the plot who also sent messages to bait. i can't prove it but that's my belief... aaand i realized i had received other asks seemingly unrelated to tumblr mystery girl that i deleted, that were also from this anon. again, a very distinct word that was misspelled is what clued me in.

i spend a lot of time analyzing written communication. so it's second nature for me to read through messages and pick up on little idiosyncrasies that are unique to a particular person, not just anyone/everyone who is not a native speaker. there's other giveaways. there's another anon, who is american.. and i delete a good portion of their asks because they are frequently argumentative and generally just go out of their way to be obstinate. i know ''who'' it is in the sense that i am aware it's a repeat offender, i recognize their syntax. and i can obviously see what state they're writing in from. running a blog where 99% of the contributors are anonymous means you can't just block the people who want to lie (like tumblr mystery girl) or be rude (my american anon pal) so you just kind of get used to them being in your midst lol if anything, it's kind of funny to think we're all just parked here having a chat from different corners of the world.

decided i’ll occupy myself with translating a polish SCP tale today so here you go :]

here is the original one  (keep in mind i’m only translating this, it’s not my own tale)

 Second Chance

That day i came to work a bit ealier than usual. I got myself a cup of coffee from a drinks machine and shambled in the direction of my office, where I would check my list of tasks. I sat down in an uncomfortable chair and started up my computer. After a while the screen lit up and the device started to load the operating system. In the meantime i tried to cool down my drink. I took a sip. Hm, still hot. I put the cup down and entered my password. A few boxes with information about today’s schedule showed up on the screen, including one talking about an experiment i was supposed be in charge of. Today is probably going to be pretty peaceful.

I couldn’t be more mistaken. Everything happened so fast. First the alarms blared, next came a warning about an approaching XK class scenario. There was nothing to think about, I knew what i needed to do. I was very lucky to be chosen to supervise SCP-RP-825. My mind was already set when the site started to fall apart. Before anybody could stop me i bursted into the containment cell.

-C’mere, we’re getting out of here. I warned them about this.-I said, grasping the object.

-Stop where you stand! Put the object down immediately!-I heard a harsh voice coming from behind the door. I need to be quick, they could start shooting any moment. I started up the device and set a random value and lightly waved at my would-be killers. A few of tchem got into the cell and fired, but the bullets hit wall and didn’t do me any harm. A mere few seconds later the site was blown off the face of earth. There was something enormous and destructive coming, luckily, it was none of my conern anymore. I was already outside of this reality. From what i knew from studying SCP-RP-825, during the journey, it’s users were thrown into a void-like space in between dimesions. I wasn’t any different. Everything around me went quiet, it was dark too. I was expecting this, but my body still shivered nervously. It’s pretty funny how darkness affects us.

Interestingly, while in the void, the user can see themselves perfectly. Almost as if they’re emitting light. Unfortunately, I never found out why it happens. I shook my head and sighted quietly. Even in a horrbile situation like this i never stop speculating. According to the clock situated on my left wrist I was here for about two minutes so far. I was starting to get a little concerned that I’m going to be stuck here forever, but soon my vision started to catch first glimpses of color. I exhaled and focused on making out the objects forming around me.

-I hope this world isn’t full of huge lizards or some other bullshit.-I mumbled, looking down at the SCP I was holding.- I would need to get out really qui…-Before i could finish my sentence, the device „cracked” and the display shut off.-…fuck.

A moment after the swear left my mouth, i heard a quiet „chk” of a rifle. I heard a voice behind me

-Who are you? Got your ID?- The command was loud and clear. I raised my arms slowly and looked around. I was in a room strangely similar to a canteen located in Site 17. I glanced over the walls and suprised faces of the witnesses of my sudden appearance until I saw a familiar logo on a labcoat of one of the men.

-Are you fucking kidding me…-I let go off SCP-RP-825. It shattered upon contact with the sterile, shiny floor.

-I swear I’m not a member of the Chaos Insurgency!- I raised my voice slightly, I grew more desperate after realising, that if i won’t convince at least this one person I’m not a threat, I won’t be alive for much longer.

-And I would like to believe you, but you don’t have any evidence to back up your statements, that’s the problem.-The man sat in front of me took a sip from a mug decorated with „Best researcher in the world”. He was wearing a labcoat similar to mine.  I raised my eyebrow.

-You look like our scientists. I hope you make less mistakes than us, though.-The other guy leaned in, resting his chin on his hands, before speaking up.

-Listen, this sounds too improbable. If I wasn’t at the canteen, the guards would kill you without a second thought after hearing a story like this. Honestyly, I should send you to be terminated, but I don’t think that would help solve the situation. -He sighted.-Start over, but try to be less..chaotic this time. It’s your last chance.-I nodded, trying to collect my thoughts.

-So…my name is Krzysztof Rasiewicz and I’m a scientist working at one of the branches of the SCP Foundation, the one located in the Republic of Poland.

-Located in Poland?

-Why would one country have two, separate branches? Is this how things work in your dimension.

-No. A Polish branch is a Polish branch. Wait a second…The Republic of Poland exists in your reality? You mean Poland and Lithuania connected with a personal union?

-I mean..it existed.-I murmured.-The whole dimension is probably doomed, but I won’t be able to find out for sure. SCP-RP-825 was destroyed. As to The Republic of Poland, it was Lithuania, Hungary and Poland connected together. I wouldn’t call it a supercountry, but Russia and the USA had to keep us in mind.

-Hold up, let’s say i believe you.-He scratched his nose.-If you really were an employee of the SCP Foundation, you should remember at least some of the objects they had contained. Would you list some? And besides that, what was your clearance level?-I leaned back in the chair and took my ID out of one of my pockets. I placed it on the desk. I gestured towards it, inviting the other man to take a look. He did take a good, long look at it. -Doctor Krzysztof Rasiewicz, clearance level four, Site 17…it looks legitimate. What about the objects? I hesitated for a moment, but I realized i have pretty much nothing left to lose. I started to describe the first SCP tak came into my mind. The longer I was talking, the more suprised the other researcher looked.

-…we discovered that if one person wore both of the bracelets and clapped, something totally different would happen. If there’s only one user, telepathy is impossible, it’s logical. So, if one person wears both object A and object B, SCP-RP-145 teleports them to a long room with numbered lockers…

-Stop!-The man cut me off slamming his palm on the table.-The thing you’re describing takes subjects to the exact same place as one of our objects. We checked all of the lockers, only one of them is empty. The Chaos Insurgency probably has none of those artifacts. It’s a serious situation, so we’ll do this: if you’re not lying, you can help us avoid doing the same mistakes, that the colleaugues from your dimension did. I’ll inform the higher-ups. I’ll also apply a submission and the Polish O5 Council will sort things out by voting. For now, we’ll keep you in a cell, just to be safe. i made some tags but i want to talk more about some "red flag" books. sorry for any typos or if my english is incorrect at any point, it's not my first language.

let's start by saying i happen to LOVE haruki murakami and i think his philosophical takes on his books are marvelous. like i said in the tags, you HAVE to be older to understand some things that are not explicit when you're younger or on a first read-through (for example, fight club doesnt pack the same punch [haha punch] when you read it a second time, then you see the signals pointing to the end were there all along but you didn't pick up the information). that's what i mean by saying picking up undertones when you're older, you have more information to contextualize (or re-contextualize) a book.

like, imagine you're 14 and you read american psycho. you probably don't even know what a yuppie is. and by missing that you're missing why bateman acts the way he does. and it does the same thing fight club does, which is to present us with unreliable narrators. but again you may not pick that up until you're older and can understand the themes of toxic masculinity (fight club) or the objectification of women, critic to the capitalism model and mental health issues (american psycho).

i love sylvia plath but admittedly, you do have to be a certain age to read the bell jar because of its themes of mental health, depression and suicide, but those are not red flags, those are triggers. why are these people keeping away a beautifully written story about mental health issues saying it's a red flag to read this book? this makes no sense to me. and tbh i HAVE to laugh at the sticker on gone girl. "if shes reading this she probably watched jennifer's body at least once". this cracked me up. i am aware of its flaws but i love jennifer's body (and it's a fuck you to men everywhere despite the ending), and that comment is so correct. gone girl also says fuck you to men, and it should not be considered a red flag. like... grow up maybe.

now, about the thing that will probably haunt my dreams this night. HOW IS FRANKENSTEIN ON A RED FLAG SHELF?! sure it's philosophical af but i read it at a young age and as i grew up i reread it a lot (i do have this problem, instead of buying new books, i reread mine because having dynamic reading means i end them REALLY fast and i end up with the same books to read lol), understanding more and more with more age. HOW in the world is this book a red flag? i honestly can't see it. yeah it is horror and a bit sci-fi but i was reading stephen king by age 9 and i turned out (mostly) fine. this one pisses me off to no end.

Let's be realistic, fanservice? Really meh?

Do people really think that jkk is based on fanservice? How much will they try to deny it? It's obvious that they do so, but the actions and emotions that they portray towards each other when they are doing 'it' doesn't really make me comfortable to call it as 'fanservice'. These terms are so weird tbh lol.

Back then Jimin used to be extremely attracted and sort of touchy towards JK. Jungkook used to push Jimin away (distance himself?) from jm. (not in bad a way tho). Jungkook was flustered and shy , he didn't know how to react. He was young, love was in the air. Kookie acted all tough and cool and dismissive with jimin. He was 16 for god sakes, teens are insecure during that phase it isn't like he didn't like jimin, he actually liked jm's presence and appreciated the attention he gotten from Jm . Try watching a few behind the scenes vids. He would say stuff like "jimin is really nice to me, he seems to really like me" and many more! From what I saw through their growth was that during 2015/2016 Jungkook some sort was attracted towards JM. (sexually attracted?) Soon then Jungkook was being sort of clingy? Jimin kept distance with JK because that boi was definitely ( I'm pretty sure both of them knew what they were dealing with it was pure LOVE) You could clearly see that Jungkook became possessive towards Jimin. Enough of me ranting lol. But now let's talk about Jungkook actions during 2016-2021. I loved the way Jungkook made up with Jimin in almost every aspect. Jungkook really loves Jimin and it really is visible. His expressions, behaviour, and actions really depicts his love towards JM. If you did pay close attention towards the "ranking the member visuals " thingy you would know that JM would be ranked as the last . I felt a little bad for Jimin here, he was clearly uncomfortable. He was probably expecting a better rank by Jk, after all he gave JK a lot of attention. I suppose JM felt hurt and stopped giving TOO much of attention towards JK. Hello!

Can you help me brainstorm a nickname for Link in the Rito language?

Im aware they don't have an in-canon language (at least I don't think so), but the comic/fic that i'm working on kinda needs it? It's not too important but I really, really wanna have Revali call Link something that means "Forever love" or "eternal love" in Rito and trying to play it off as normal. I mean, this dude waited 100 years for this guy and, in the fic I'm writing, still loves him.

So far, I have "Ai neie" which is inspired/played off of/made from "eien no ai" which is along the lines of "love forever" in Japanese (according to Google translate). It seems too close to Hawaiian sounding though and it's derived from another language that I don't speak or know much about. I don't wanna be disrespectful or cross any lines I wasn't aware existed.

Any ideas?

However unfortunately I am your typical lame white american who can really only speak english... So I dont really know MUCH about this kinda thing or about boundaries for this. But I do have...a thought or two? And the capability of googling.

Firstly! Because the Rito are based heavily on Andean culture, I figured probably looking into indigenous languages of that area is fair...though it's not as easy to look into like Japanese kinda is. VERY LIMITED RESOURCES ON THIS LEMME TELL YOU WHAT

The first one I looked into is Quechua, which is technically a language family ?

"Kyuaki" is the romantic way to say "I love you", and "khuyay" and/or "khuya" is love....? Allegedly. "Sonqo" is heart.

Then there's Aymara, which is primarily spoken in the Bolivian Andes. "Munsmawa" is "i love you" . "Lluqu" is heart...

ALTERNATIVELY, love in Cherokee (Tsalgi) is "adageyudi", and heart is "udanvdo". In Lakota Sioux, "Cantécikiya" means "my heart is inspired by you"; Canté meaning "heart" (Allegedly)

THIS IS ALL TO SAY! I DUNNO! LOL! I'M JUST SOME IDIOT TRYING TO GOOGLE SHIT DESPERATELY.

But, if it were me...I would try (keyword: try) to use Andean languages or maybe Native American ones to base Rito words off of, as I feel they fit the bill with Rito more than any other languages...since those cultures is where the inspiration comes from. BUTT (hah) that is just me.

Maybe while you do it, you can look at other words in the language to kind of like...get a feel for what the language sounds and looks like, and use that as inspiration for making your own word? Or switching up one of the ones above. If that makes any sense...lol I use this sorta method but like with clothes while designing rito so. Maybe this only makes sense to me? Gah?

OKAY SO I've just spent the best part of an hour scrolling through your blog and reading a bunch of your destiel meta and I HAD to message you... I was one of the many people who STRONGLY believed destiel had a chance of being canon after season 8 (more like season gr8 am i right), but throughout the years I slowly lost all hope. Yeah I mean, I didn’t join Destiel land until Summer 2016, and before that, I was late to the Season 11 party, so I basically had no narrative context for anything, and I’ll copy-paste what I said here:

S11 gave me a sense of Destiel’s true narrative validity (as not a ‘fanon’ ship but organically developed in the canon) when I perceived it as a season that was ‘missing something’. Keep in mind I had no idea about Destiel yet while watching S11 at the time.

I was literally asking myself — repeatedly — why Dean/Amara seemed to contain odd narrative holes, considering A. Dean explicitly said that the non-consensual attraction he felt for Amara was NOT love and “it scares him”, B. Amara told Dean that ‘something stops you - keeps you from having it all’, C. Djinn!Amara stated that she can: ‘feel the love [Dean] feels, except it’s cloaked in shame,’ and D. Mildred’s iconic ‘You’re pining for someone’ —> which did not logically correlate with A and C, meaning: since Dean doesn’t freely love Amara and thus isn’t possibly pining for her — with female love interests as currently non-existent (I remember crossing off the dead/gone girls on a piece of paper lol) — who the hell was he pining for, then?

The general Destiel meta community (all subfactions: Destiel-positive, -negative, -neutral, and in-between) is not the Most Holy Canon Word, and we aren’t SPN writers, and again, we can’t actually speak to the veracity of Destiel as guaranteed-gonna-go-textual, but we — a diverse pool of critical thinkers from all walks of life: particularly those who have some degree of experience in literary academia/English literature studies (fun fact: I was actually pursuing a Minor’s in English until I changed my mind - my first love’s Health Science/Biology, which I stuck with, but here I am doing lit-crit analysis on the side *wink*) — can speak to the veracity of Destiel as a real, palpable, and ever-substantial long-running romance narrative aka the love story between Dean and Cas IS THERE. I see it. We all see it. We didn’t pluck it out of the random ether one day. It naturally evolved across the show’s overarching narrative like some vast spiderweb, linked together by numerous character arc amalgamations of Dean Winchester and Castiel as separate individuals who were then brought together — who brought themselves together, by the sheer force of free will and choice — and are now inherent parts of the other’s story (and respective character progression).

I say this too many times to count: the entire point of writing meta? Personally, it enables me to appreciate the literary gorgeousness of Dean and Cas’ relationship as, first and foremost, a tentative alliance offset by the very moment Cas raised Dean from perdition (it’s a poetic beginning). Their alliance then inevitably proliferated into a rocky — at times, necessarily turbulent — friendship, then a deep profound bond…one that crossed platonic boundaries since S7/8 and is, ultimately, indelibly rooted in romance. Together, Dean and Cas build up each other’s strengths, complement each other’s flaws, and narratively motivate the other to self-introspect — to become the best version of themselves that they were always meant to be: self-actualized entities who let go of their painful, horrifying, psychologically/emotionally destitute pasts.

These above reasons and more are why I think Destiel belongs right up there on the shelf of Ye Olde Classics, similar to epics by John Milton, Shakespearian tragic dramas, Homeric characteristic cruxes, and the great Odyssey journey: a legendary journey, fraught with circumstance, that finally ended with Odysseus (now an enlightened man) returning to Penelope, the love of his life.

Channeling the scope of Homer’s Odyssey, Destiel is an incredible storytelling feat of obstacles, both internal and external, romance tropes, mirroring, foreshadowing, and visual cadence/emotion, enhancing SPN’s already character-driven main plot in that Dean and Cas try to make it back to one another; like Penelope, their love holds true despite everything. If Destiel were an M/F couple, we all know their love story would be absolutely undeniable to the GA.

I do understand the bitterness S14’s fostered in some viewers, though. I do understand that Dean and Cas seem distant (and yeah, it’s a noticeable difference compared to S12/S13), but I believe the Destiel subtext is still heavy and holds steady.

Right now, at this point, there remains multiple personal issues for the characters to solve, you know? Dean and Cas aren’t talking properly; their love languages stay mistranslated, although we’re persistently shown that they still understand each other on a certain level that no one else can, and the visual narrative keeps framing them as on-the-nose solid counterparts: a domestic-spousal romantic unit independent of Sam.

They want to be there for the other. They need to quash the final remnants of their respective internal loathing (Dean’s self-worthiness, Cas’ self-expendability) before they’re able to give the other 100% of their time, efforts, attention, and love (as flawed and complicated but compellingly beautiful as it can possibly be). As other friends/meta pals discussed with me, S14 is like S10 in that it’s confusing the cast/audiences. And exactly: S8, besides S11/S12/early S13, also belongs in the close-to-canon serious Destiel narrative transition! I can discuss the showrunning/writer problem of SBL (Singer + Bucklemming; @occamshipper hits the nail on the head) that tugs subtext – especially subtext linked to Destiel – back and forth, sometimes in the weirdest nonsensical ways, but I won’t go too far into it here. I agree, however, with the recent idea that Jensen does seem a bit confused as to where he should bring Dean emotionally this season (don’t get me wrong, I do NOT believe Dean is OOC; OOC is a completely different concept vs expected character behaviour). And if Dean’s consistently romance-coded past interactions with Cas are any indication, Jensen would also — in the same vein as all of us — want Dean and Cas to start getting their shit together. Long-running fictional characters like Dean and Cas, conceived over 10 years, are so well-written to the point where you, the author, can predict what they’ll do even if you just plop both of them inside a room and give them no direction, and I personally feel that nowadays Jensen is prevented from achieving Dean’s further internal growth/unsure how to act in the moment because of some dumb SBL scripts saying one thing while his character’s heart says another. Wank aside—

Season 15 should hopefully convey a much more logical subtextual perspective e.g. unbelievably amazingly cohesive Season Destiel 11 that aired after choppy S10. Not all hope is lost!! I also want to clarify that I personally LOVED Season 14 in general. It’s been mostly Emotion-centric constant, with Yockey, Berens, Perez, and Dabb usually making my top-rank SPN writer list.

Currently the narrative’s still allowing pretty significant (imho) wiggle room for the lovers to fracture apart and get back together, where their miscommunication comes to a dramatic head. We just saw Dean and Cas argue over Jack’s well-being in 14x18 and 19. Dean — besides putting Cas at the top of his You’re-Dead-to-Me-Because-You-Lied-but-I-Still-Love-You-Goddammit hitlist (for clear spousal-coded reasons) and taking Cas’ actions to heart (he’s the person he trusted the most who lied to him) — no doubt blamed himself for what happened, and Sam was, like I said, the mouthpiece of truth. TFW were all culpable. They all failed Jack in some way, shape, or form.

I’m not expecting anything for 14x20, but I’m nervous either way! Thanks for sticking with my long answer

Last , Last Thoughts on That Issue/ Why I'm just Disappointed in Both Sides

Disclaimer before I get stared: yup, I’m going back to THAT again. If you just want to see art on the Glitchtale tag and are sick and tired of this issue like I am, sorry for making you scroll a bit more so you don’t have to see this. I probably should just let this die because we’re pretty much off this, but I still see the occasional comment on twitch or on here, so I need to get this off of my chest. I’m going to try to not take a side, but if you’ve seen my other posts, you know I do believe that word could be seen as offensive, though not in context, but that it should be treated more carefully, and that I also do not hold much Ill will towards Cami (still slightly peeved) I will also have a section of this where I talk about not liking the use of SJW or triggered. But again, I’ll try being non-partisan here besides that.

I’m disappointed in both sides here. For people who found the use of the r-word offensive or troublesome, I’m disappointed in the lack of trying to peacefully reach out to Cami. It was clear she meant not to insult anyone mentally disabled and that she had no idea the word had a negative connotation in some parts of the world. Now, that wasn’t entirely clear when she first said the word and people might not know the word had no offensive connotation in Chile, but still, anyone who knows it as a slur should also know that some people use it like a standard Insult to mean idiot (such as younger kids do in America) because they are not aware of what it’s been turned to, and that the user is not trying to insinuate someone is a lesser being because they were born with a mental disability. So it was not right to say things like Cami was ableist (someone who hates the disabled) or that she was trying to be rude to anyone other than that kid. It also doesn’t help to get super angry and toss out other swear words like “fuck” or “bitch” left and right because it makes you harder to take seriously when you swear like a sailor while arguing with someone, and they are less likely to understand or want to compromise with you when you insult them. And finally, it doesn’t help to either a) try to act surperior or Talk down someone who you think is being a jerk because it makes you look egotistical, and b) don’t specifically insult Cami’s friends (however, overall being annoyed with people supporting Cami is understandable, which is what my next thing is about). Overall, if you act to rudely or intensely in trying to make your point or change someone’s mind, you only guarantee that people are less likely to agree with you, which means you are shorting your argument in the foot. And as someone who was making that argument, I’m really freaking angry at the people who made it impossible for the argument to go anywhere pleasant, and I feel sorry for anyone else who wanted to be civil while still disagreeing. While civility may not have changed anyone’s mind, it would have been better than what did happen, because now Cami’s probably never going to understand or empathize with people who don’t like the word.

Now, here’s my other point. I feel like Cami and some of her supporters got kind of–and yes, I will use this word despite the fact that it seems to piss off people on here–rude. Rude for understandable reasons, but still rude. It feels like, because There were people who were being equally rude at a stressful time in Cami’s life, she was too angry to be willing to compromise or be understanding. I just am bothered by the fact that everyone seemed to say stuff along the lines of “the word isn’t offensive at all to me/ check the context/ check the definition” and write it off there. And that’s what bothers me. People didn’t seem willing to understand that word really was seen as offensive to a decent amount of people. It seemed like Cami and a lot of her supporters felt that, if they couldn’t see offense in it, no one had a reason to get offended. And it’s fine that they Don’t get offended or see any problem with the word. But it would have been nice to see something like “okay, I still don’t think the word is offensive, but I understand why people are bothered by seeing it.” Instead, it felt like anyone bothered by that word was being treated like a baby who was calling Cami Hitler and saying the kid was better than her. So that led to some people immaturely using the word when being asked to stop, which feels like the verbal equivalent of a baby tossing their peas in their parent’s face when asked to eat them in terms of behavior. (I am not referring to Cami herself using it more because I get she only used it once, I’m referring to the fact that I saw other people saying that as if it made them comedic geniuses) there was also a few people saying stuff like “stupid Americans trying to make the world about them.” Forcing you to adopt the death penalty, use English, eat my food, or use the imperial system of measurement would be arrogantly forcing my culture on yours. Getting offended by something seen as an offensive word in my country which I have been taught not to use is the result of naturally carrying my national baggage onto an international stage. I’m not saying that means the American view that r-word is offensive is right, but if Cami makes the honest mistake of assuming the rest of the world doesn’t find it offensive, why can’t we make the honest mistake of assuming the rest of the world does find it offensive? Heck, asking “why is it like that in this country” instead of saying “this country is stupid then, because I know the way I grew up with is right” would allow for some discussion that lets us open to each other and increase our worldview. It would help you understand we don't just choose to get offended because we want to. Heck, maybe you have actually read about how the word became a slur and still think we're stupid. Fine. But at least don't write it off as us having no reason .

And here’s where I get to the part that I do become partisan. Why the hell is anyone who gets offended even when they aren’t personally insulted deemed an SJW these days? What the hell is wrong with worrying about someone else? I guess people would say “if they aren’t part of that group, they are misrepresenting it by trying to talk for them. Heck, I am a part of this group and I’m not insulted.” Five things: 1) what about people who actually, legitimately, understand the issue and want to defend that group. 2) how does not being part of that group stop me from having an opinion? 3) is it wrong of me to defend other people (and before you say “I could defend wrong” reread 1) 4) great if you aren’t insulted, but there are others who will be insulted. 5) defending a group does not mean you want attention, you can legitimately have feelings on an issue. This isn’t just applying to what happened with Cami. This is almost any freaking time I see someone use SJW, and I just happen to be here while I’m venting. SJW should be used for someone who is taking an issue where nobody has complained ever anywhere, making it an issue, and bringing nothing to back up their argument. That’s someone who you can be legitimately pissed off at because they want to make themselves a hero out of something truly meaningless to anyone.

Oh, also, for People who make the “Triggered” jokes. You know, that word refers to people who would actually have PTSD if they saw something that reminded them of an uncomfortable experience, like a soldier with PTSD hearing a gun or bomb. I get that a small number of people might appear to act that extremely. But getting offended by a word is not the same as that 99% of the time. And generally those people who get offended actually have a reason that it might help you listen to, instead of saying “lol, that person is upset, so I’ll make fun of them by doing something I know bothers them.”

Still I understand that she was angry, and already at a stressful time, and that there were people who were being too rude in their responses to her that word. They did not have the right to insult her like they did or act like surperior dickheads. And I understand why, emotionally, she would be unwilling to be less angry in her responses if a decent amount of the opposition wasn’t civil to begin with. And I get that I’m probably generalizing her reaction and I’m mistakenly assuming she didn’t literally mean people were calling her hitler. I was just bothered that some of her and her defenders counter responses seemed pretty rude and Inconsiderate. And that people who got angry at her were also inconsiderate by insulting her so rudely or acting like their position made them morally superior. It was stupid off them, and what lead to Cami insulting them in the first place.

And I don’t mean to imply Cami was weak for having an emotional response. Emotions are part of who we are. Obviously not everyone will be able to stay calm and fine at all times. Heck, I have one of the shortest fuses on the planet. I brought up emotions because I think people who chose to insult Cami were at fault for why she would be somewhat hostile.

TL;DR I feel like both sides here were not professional in how the r-word issue went down. I am Not expecting pure civility or happiness on the internet, and I understand not all arguments can be handled calmly and orderly, or that polite argument leaves everybody satisfied. I’m just disappointed because we could have still had that debate without drama or angriness, Even if we ended upcoming to the same conclusion as we did a few days ago. And sorry for anybody I might have thrown under the bus with a generalization, or if I assumed to much of the meaning behind what someone said. Also sorry if I ended up using loaded language in my argument or subconsciously made it anti-r-word usage despite trying to remain neutral.

Finally sorry for bringing this up if it starts the whole mess over again. If it happens, put the blame on me and my inability to not let shit die.
