Hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, okay... let me try this. Also, sorry if you meant like JUST ~real instruments and no electronic stuff included. I did try going more instrument-sounding and not just pure synthization, so like "Strobe" by Deadmau5 isn't here despite me loving the track. But like... there are things are are clearly synthetic here. Sorry. Was tempted to put "Sandstorm" by Darude anyways. Or cheat and put instrumental versions of songs, like "Every Night" by Exid which does actually have a really fun vocal-less version (if you don't mind being alarmed by a dial tone sound).

God, I know it's cheap to go for this song of all Ryuichi Sakamato songs but it's the first I ever heard by him (thanks Utada) and so... "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence." Achingly, deceptively simple-sounding. It conveys both aching and urgency.

"Your Hand in Mine" Explosions in the Sky. I use the term "cinematic" to describe music a lot but I think it really fits here. Like this is a track that plays during the trailer for an indie movie that blows everyone's tits off.

"Tocatta & Fugue in D Minor" specifically by Vanessa Mae. Her violin plus the more electronic sensibilities really feels electrifying.

"Viridis Quo" by Daft Punk. Galactic, otherworldly, a beat that syncs into your bones and rests behind your eyes.

"Sadness & Sorrow" from Naruto. It is sadness and it IS sorrow! Iconic.I couldn't find who originally performed the song? SHould look deeper for that. Guren by Yasuharu Takanashi is also a great, haunting track from the Naruto OST.

"Keeping the Blade" by Coheed & Cambria. Haunting. Feels like witnessing a forbidden love story and watching them fight to stay together. Without any words spoken.

"Wu Ji" by Lin Hai. All versions. Yes, it is from the Untamed. And yes it is beautiful!

"Ego Death" by Polyphia. Very different from other tracks on my list, this is guitar shredding. This is drum kits. This is bad ass.

"Aruarian Dance" by Nujabes. Would be wrong to not include Nujabes when his music was so... instrumental to my taste in music.

"Khun" by Kevin Penkin & Ben Matthews. Kick ass jazzy piano with a great overlay of... grainy (?) sound.

"Always You" by Malta. Great jazzy sound. Couldn't think of a song to kick off this list but needed to include this one.

I feel like a lot of these aren't really what people mean when tehy ask for instrumental? They normally mean more like... Yann Tiersen but my instrumental go tos are more Toconoma or like... the sims soundtrack. Or electronic fare like She.

If you were looking for instrumental music to put on while you write/study, maybe listen to the Imogen Heap collab album "Chordata Bytes." Or even the Tron: Legacy soundtrack by Daft Punk. They're kinda non-intrusive instrumentals, while Polyphia might be more distracting. Or try "Sharratt" by Bibio! I find songs with a ~looping sound, lots of repetition, are good for like taking over the background while you work.

Ebony Queen's Apple: First off, it’s based off of the Evil Queen from Snow White. It can communicate telepathically and the first thing it says in-game is “Bring Snow White.” Which is even more interesting when you take into account that in Limbus Company’s prequel, Lobotomy Corporation, there’s a being known as Snow White’s Apple. Also it can function without its head which is pretty cool.

I know that the Imperial system is bad and all but I gotta say. I do really like how it works for sewing

#was watching jan misali's video on the imperial measurement system and thinking.#yes metric system is easier to multiply by 10. but you are not multiplying by 10 when sewing #you are dividing #specifically by two more than once #which gets Real ugly with 10 #but is very nice with 36 and 12 and fractions of an inch #I like being able to divide inches when doing seams instead of having to work in arbitrary numbers of millimeters (too precise)#or numbers of centimeters (not precise enough).#like you got 1'' 5/8'' 1/2'' 3/8'' 1/4'' 1/8''. very directly related to each other. all the precision you need. easy to remember #also easy to standardize for different 'types' of things you're sewing #clothes are 5/8'' or 1/2'' seam. accessories like purses are 1/2'' or 3/8''. quilts are 1/4'' and French seams are 1/8''#and you can remember that and use it when you don't have a pattern to work directly off of #yards and fractional yards are also really nice to work off of when buying fabric. inches turn into fractional yards really really nicely #you can take a 5'4'' measurement for a cloak #which is 64'' just by remembering the multiples of 12 (remember your times tables? i learned those in 3rd grade)#which is 1 and 2/3 yards! very easy to remember and go to the fabric store and buy the right amount of fabric #(though i would round it up to 1 3/4 yards just to be safe)#good Lord 95 percent of this post is in the tags. anyway #my posts #sewing

man. i really thought i knew where this was going and now. i once again realize i have no idea what i'm doing

#i was gonna try to do something where i mirrored as much of canon as i could #but that's not really gonna work with the setting i have i don't think #but. today i got like 2-3 different ideas and figured out how to make character motivations make more sense #and how to reflect a few different major canon events in this one #when my plan was originally to only make vague reference to them or ignore them wholesale #so. augh. now i have to figure all this out again #it's fine i'm having fun but god. good goddamn do i have no idea what i'm doing #it's also one of those things where i Know i'm gonna get pretty serious rsd from posting it #bc i know this au is niche #there are literally no people in my life outside of my immediate family that cares about the sports fusion this is.#and i am having an incredibly fun time making this indycar au #but i also feel it in my bones that i'm gonna put in all this work and like. very few people are gonna click on it #just bc of the relative unpopularity of this particular motorsport #it would absolutely be more popular if this was a formula 1 fusion. might even make sense with how much of the cast is european #unfortunately for me i do not give a single damn about f1. indycar is my bag #so. it's my fic and i'll mash my fixations together the way i want to #this isn't really bitching that much bc i am Going To Write This Regardless Of Consequences #but i can feel this one being. niche.#and to round off what i started this with: i really thought i knew what my plot was. and now i am realizing that i am going to #constantly be making changes to it for a while #and i'm starting school again in like. a week. so this will slow me down even more

the way i wish there could be more good faith analysis and fic about billy having adopted racial prejudice from his dad and then learning to properly recognize it and grow past it in order become a better person. i wish there was more posts and fics that tackle the bullshit lucas has had to deal with as a black kid in small town indiana because the duffers never even considered it. but the sheer puritan black and white thinking and performative activism or moral virtue signaling or whatever the fuck that is so pervasive in this fandom means that even the few posts and fics that dare to try and actually tackle racism tend turn it into either a punishment narrative, are depressingly shallow about it, make it about hating and liking the 'right characters', or miss the mark entirely

like i get it, homophobia/transphobia is easier to explore and talk about for most fans. it's complex and multi-layered just like other types of oppression, but so much of fandom is queer and dedicated to shipping and labels that yeah, i can see how talking about it is just. easier for a lot of ppl. also a lot of fandom is white. and lots of white gays get weird about discussing racism in their spaces. y'know the deal, but i digress. from what i can see, very few ppl want to explore how racism affects our favorite characters and the stories they live in. i know some ppl are probably afraid of getting it wrong, or they don't know anything about it and don't feel like they should. it's like, my blorbo is queer and so am i, so why wouldn't i talk all day about that? i get it. but it honestly just means a lot when someone tries earnestly. i have read beautiful fics about trans love through hardship by cis authors and such genuine fics about connection in the face of racism's poison by white authors.

there is just SO much untapped potential in exploring lucas and max and billy and patrick and argyle and all the other characters directly and indirectly affected by bigotry and racism within the narrative that never got the acknowledgement it deserved. plus it's super weird being used as a 'gotcha!' by white fans that hate billy (as if poc fans of billy aren't capable of seeing it for the bullshit it is) or seeing lucas' treatment in the show get brushed aside like it's nothing or how argyle gets sidelined an awful lot in the fandom (and don't even get me started on how messy the classism in this fandom can be, the borderline erasure of eddie's poverty and its effects on who he is as a person in fic is insane sometimes)

anyway. idk if any of this makes sense, but i can count like maybe 3 good fics and maybe a dozen good posts about billy that actually address this in good faith and only maybe a dozen more for every other character i mentioned. and i desperately want more. i am brown and queer and i want healing and love for all of these characters and i am going to have to start churning out more of it myself at this rate.

apparently bg3 specifically patched that you can't kill the spider matriarch by pushing them into the abyss, and all i can say to that is boooooo

There’s a BookTuber I’m subscribed to now and she’s so sweet. Like we have fundamentally different priorities (she didn’t immediately get a library card upon moving to a new city??? She hasn’t visited all of the indie bookstores near her, just B&N???), but she’s so cute and so happy and has such an interesting way of doing the parasocial relationships on her videos. CHARMING.

#my taste overlaps with hers on maybe (MAYBE) 1/3-1/2 of the books she’s excited about #but still.#it’s so interesting to also see the influence of pop culture and BookTok and goodreads reviews on what she reads #like it’s so fascinating to me that a book can’t just sound interesting to be bought on one of her bookstore blogs #it has to be interesting AND a recommendation #or interesting AND have good goodreads reviews #the first one: fair #the second one idk! maybe it’s just the books I read or my own taste #but a lot of the time I just don’t like the books that a lot of people adore on goodreads #also I can very much relate to her thought process that she talks about while discussing her haul #of when she buys multiple books by a new author (or is tempted to)#‘nope let’s read ONE and see if we like it first’#or wanting to be a well-rounded reader so reading books that are popular but out of your comfort zone #or like a good library has the classics #side note: why are the B&N signature classics so BEAUTIFUL now #BACK IN MY DAY THEY LOOKED REALLY BORING #the sameness was definitely good for branding but GAH #anyway. it’s a shame I’m trying to set my sleep schedule to rights #because it means I can’t scare myself by reading horror and then soothe myself with tv #unfortunate.

#she's just filling in thank goodness but she's worse than useless lol #i heard she was from the other classrooms she's usually in tho #she's kind of nice but she's literally sitting there on the phone or texting while she's supposed to be watching the kids #she was on the phone at naptime yesterday and i could not get her attention for my life to get her to settle one of the kids #bc i couldnt make noise and no amount of arm waving could penetrate the tiktok hypnosis she would not have looked my way if i died #phones are allowed at naptime but you still need to be aware of your surroundings and no calls but she did take a call too and was unaware #also she's constantly texting when the kids are awake?? i would get fired for that idk how she's getting away w it #but when ur watching 17 toddlers you're basically a lifeguard you're not supposed to take your eyes off them even to speak to other teachers #bc even with 3 or 4 teachers watching there's always something out of sight thats going to go wrong #its impossible to watch all of them #and they will get hurt #and thats when you're all focusing #also when she does witness unsafe behavior she doesnt move #she just sits there and says no dont do that #but doesnt physically remove the 1 year old who does not listen to verbal correction from the unsafe situation???#she just sits there and scolds them until another teacher intervenes physically every single time 😭#not once has a child stopped because she told them to #anyway #not to be a bitter adult shaking my fist at The Youth but she's so bad lol #i hate to be correcting her all the time so im letting her get away w stuff i would be executed for #and i did 3 of our 4 rounds of diapers yesterday bc she doesnt know how #she's nice to your face basically but she's really gossipy and mean abt others so you know she's speaking badly abt you too

I mostly just scroll thru blog subs when im on mobile bc I follow too many ppl on here so I add mutuals etc there n then turn off notifs so it's like the creme de la creme of the dash anyway if u see me in ur notes more its bc I forgor to add some of u on there until recently sorry 😭😭

#i kept seeing some of u in my notes and i was like damn u guys have been rl quiet on the dash even tho ur active thats weird..#nope just wasnt seeing any of ur beautiful posting. my bad #ONL <- me on my hands and knees begging ur forgiveness #rly need to clean up my following list so my main dash is useable again..... 💀#maybe i should add it to my list of official chores for this weekend so i actually do it lol #.diaries #not done much this morning cuz i slept in n took my meds late.. but thats ok properly hitting my task list now #done 1 round of laundry got my med delivery n organised a bunch of stuff just tidying n cleaning now n then i have some laptop admin #n then i need to go out to town just debating maybe doing a closet sort first so i can take a bag of stuff to donate to charity w me hmm #and after im back ill food shop i have my meal plan for the next week done already. mm ill fit another round of laundry in too for sheets #and then tmr ill do a third for bathmats n teatowels etc. and polish boots/do my ironing while i watch a new movie or show..#awesome. i love being medicated i love being able to concentrate and get stuff done it feels so so good #i rly spent two wholeass decades unable to and thought that was that. god bless my adhd diagnosis for letting me access stimulants #even if i have to deal w this bullshit private shit atm its fine. ill be back on the nhs soon hopefully #and ill only need half of my script next month bc theyve sent me too much of one of them the last 2 months. so itll be way cheaper #i have like at least 3 months supply of my amfexa lmao and i dont even need it every day sometimes i skip it or take half instead #so it could probs stretch 5-6 months. but theyll only issue me 1 month of my elvanse at a time so i need to renew it more often 😔#considering taking a med break next weekend bc i just want to see how bad it would be. i can take my instant stuff if it rly sucks #and if its okay maybe ill take one day off meds every weekend when i dont Need to focus to get chores done etc #so that way i can gradually build up a buffer of med supply n also might be nice to have a day i can fully relax innit #not that i Can't relax on meds but it feels rly good to focus n get shit done n I don't get as much out of just lazin #anyway.... me and my 5 million tags as always

supervisor was met. god help our souls

#I think everything is fine and this is mostly residual anxiety #but also. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA #I now have a project area that I can start properly planning out which is good #and I have a vague schedule for the next month which helps a lot #next two weeks have just become very busy bc I have the majority of the writing for my proposal to do #I’m struggling most at this minute I think with why this actually matters #bc looking like my project will be abt spatial structure within populations which like cool interesting #but I do have to talk abt why anyone should care abt this #it is kinda frustrating to me actually bc I wanted to do smth with more immediate relevance now but the area I’ve ended up with #was 1. result of me dropping the topic I actually wanted to do 2. mentioning one of the first things I could figure out smth coherent for #3. supervisor latching onto that from my email and now we’re running with it #so okay like this immediate thing I’m doing won’t have any kind of application bc this is a study system so that’s not the issue #need to think wider abt what you learn from this and generalisability #has relevance to range shifts bc of climate change and from there is important to small scale evolutionary processes #whether you get differentiation or stratification within populations #potentially more relevant to island evolution and like. gene pool stuff?#I think I’m struggling rn bc I’ve not figured out my hypotheses yet and I can test things in a way that will be useful for other things #and there IS still utility in understanding things better come on I was willing to die on the pure science hill for so long #hdhdhsjdhnshdbsb I think I’m slightly frustrated by my supervisor just not thinking very much abt stuff #like he didn’t know the schedule for the proposal deadlines and I don’t think he knows the format tbh #I also had to tell him the focus was on the one year and not the extension bc. dude this is a masters I only have a year what #I know he’s done these before and it wasn’t exactly a surprise that this was coming so I’m kinda confused and a little annoyed #but okay it’s fine it’s fine. I can email him abt importance. and I’ll be asking abt titles around Wednesday once Ive figured out some ideas #rn i need to think about what I would be testing here with what I have available and how I would do it and I can write an overview from that #figure out what are the important questions to ask and I can find stuff that would be relevant to like conservation and shit #bc I KNOW that there’s important stuff here that I’m just not seeing. I might have to link stuff to fitness to get a more rounded analysis #which is also fine I can do that that’s probably a good way to tie the project together honestly. will make that one of the main aims #I think the studies on that are kinda lacking anyway and haven’t been done in a while so would still be filling a gap and if not #I can use THOSE studies for relevance of the project. that’s what im missing i think it’s the next step so I can understand consequences #luke.txt
