to rome: a play by fearandhatred
(5k words, 1/1 chapters)
While trying to tempt Caligula, Crowley makes a discovery that renders all his efforts for naught. But then it turns out that Aziraphale is here too, so maybe his trip to Rome isn't wasted after all.
***highly recommended to read on a phone because of the Multiplicity Of Line Breaks that just look very weird on a laptop unless your font size is huge
-----
i've always loved the idea of crowley falling in love with aziraphale in rome. in some ways it really is my roman empire so i figured i might as well make it happen! featuring many shenanigans and an annoying emperor :)
any and all support is greatly appreciated <3
anyway it all started with a dream:
so this is for @eybefioro @captainblou @crowleys-bentley-and-plants who challenged me to write a fic with no angst and also, coincidentally, for that one commenter who asked me on the same day if i would consider writing something happy for once. against all odds and with much difficulty, i have done it. love u guys sm <333

i think the best part about meursault's food diss critique is that for yi sang's turn, he actually dropped so many puns with yi sang's name in his rant yet he is still absolutely brutal and straight to the point, without losing his monotonous delivery
and yi sang kinda just,,, has to take it bc he must have been both impressed that meur managed to use so many homophones of his name in his rant yet those words must have definitely stung

There's more than one Darrell. A silkie, a frizzle, a brahma and a lakenvelder.
Soul pretends they're all the same chicken, despite the fact that they're all vastly different looking. If anyone asks why, he'l act like he has no idea what they're talking about- he's just fucking with em.
"That's a frizzle."
"Yeah? He was always a frizzle."

one thing i genuinely really do love about this fandom is how many opportunities for community interaction are created and encouraged like,, ive never been in a fandom with so many fan events the fanzines the planned weeks and things etc. its so lovely !!! theres so much community here :'))))
but every time it does make me wish ranchers were popular enough for a fanzine even a small one,, or that there was a ranchers week,,
i could in theory start a ranchers week i know this consider however: scary

I've just realised, the way I have pre-programmed skills work, it could mean Chica is an undiscovered jack of all trades?
The way these skills work is that from the perspective of the animatronic, these skills don't really exist until they're relevant for the first time. They might be aware of what their skills are, or they might not be, but once they're relevant, they have an eye opening kind of experience where it feels like they've just unlocked something huge in their life. It might take a few minutes to unlock these skills, but once it's unlocked, it's like they've had it their whole lives and a gap has been filled in somewhere in their sense of self.
The thing with every Chica though, is that they're treated like a filler character. Whenever someone is scrapped or they need an animatronic to fill in somewhere for anything at all, they use Chica. If she does fine, then the next Chica might get lucky and actually be programmed to do that job too.
So over time, the base Chica personality programming is just getting more and more skills added, with the context surrounding them being removed with every major change.
For example, when Mangle was scrapped, they stuck Chica in her workshop, she just about managed to scrape by, and so did the next one, but the third one was given some of the basic skills to handle it. The latest Chica has that skill now too, but because it's not relevant to her at all, the chances of her unlocking it are minimal at best. If she were to unlock it, she wouldn't have any clue why she has it in the first place, no knowledge of the workshop and nothing to really use these skills on. She might weirdly be able to advertise very old, discontinued merch that she's never seen before in her life though because that's Fazbear for you.
The modern animatronics mostly all have the same preprogrammed skills as the first versions of themselves in the Plex, but only a few of them have ever had different attractions to what they have now. I wonder how that would affect her personality? She's already been struggling from not having the Cupcake she's programmed to have but never even met, so I wonder how it would feel when it comes to skills? She's probably unaware of the majority so perhaps this isn't too big of an issue until it's triggered?
Interesting situation me thinks

Ok but I personally hc that colin works out kind of obsessively partly cause that man’s got a lotta nervous energy and has to exhaust himself to get any rest and mainly because I like the imagine of some poor soul trying to go to the 24/7 gym at weird hours to avoid people and the strange scottish man is Always there aggressively muttering to himself about the horrors
that’s funny actually. I support that. Still think he’s lanky as hell though

very funny (irritating) to me that everyone whined and yelled about stupid rainbow capitalism and how performative wokeness/allyship is a net bad we should all refuse to support and now like.
tumblr is doing nothing for pride and target isn't selling much (if any) of their pride collection offline except at certain stores (in democratic areas, basically) and build a bear has a much tinier collection than normal and all the actual pride stuff is on their "adult" website (not sure if it's in stores, but pride = adult is a hell of a message)
there are genuinely good criticisms for performative allyship in all its applications. it shouldn't be the only thing we expect from people and companies. but if all the shit I see being called performative stopped tomorrow then in terms of the LGBTQ+ community especially we just. wouldn't talk about queerness or queer issues or celebrate pride or do anything.
open your fucking eyes. we are very close politically to having gay marriage rolled back. now companies are basically being let off the hook to even make a miniscule effort (which matters to the people who don't have access to any other kind of support in their communities! which normalizes the community in public spaces!) because the only reaction they have gotten over the last few years are negative ones from BOTH sides.
we are so entrenched in discourse at all times for the sake of our OWN performance of who is the wokest and who is REALLY an ally or a good community member that we have basically handed over all the work of activists of the last several decades to the other side because we'd rather scream at each other over fucking chicken restaurants and shit than the real life backsliding that's happening.
and this goes for other shit too. feminism, poc rights, all of it.
also. trans rights aren't discourse and aren't just culture war arguments. in case any terfs think they can spin this to be antitrans.
