Finally finished the updated reference sheet for Gale's team (that I started back in... january). Click for better quality!

More about each team member below:

Monty:

Main gear: Tentaclinger Earring (not pictured), Urchins Jersey, Blue Slip-Ons

Favors mid-ranged slayer type weapons (sloshing machine, slosher, most blasters but especially range blaster) but is generally pretty flexible

There's a somewhat small independently published magazine in Splatsville about what's currently popular (fashion, weapons, splatfest speculation, etc). He writes articles for it, mostly noting what is currently popular, what that means for the direction of the meta, that kind of thing.

He's one of the founding members of Gale's current team. He likes to analyze how teams play and experiment with different team compositions and strategies. He tries his best to stay on top of what's new.

Outside of competitive stuff, he likes card games. He likes to collect stuff and is kind of a completionist.

Jessica:

Main gear: Retro BluFocals (not pictured), Patchwork Bomber, Mako Bucket Hi-Tops

Really enjoys backline, anchor type weapons. On her own she plays the Hydra, though she's skilled with most other splatlings. She also likes long range chargers (scoped E liter, splatterscope, snipewriter), and if you give her enough time to de-rust she's good with the jet squelcher.

She plays X rank in her free time, her peak power being in the 2600s, though she still has plenty to learn. A goal she sets for herself is to have more self discipline, since she occasionally feels herself get impatient and "one more set" or "one more match" when she probably shouldn't.

She and Monty are the founding members of Gale's current team. She'd known him from seeing him a lot in X rank, since they had similar powers at the time. They both share a similar philosophy regarding competitive play; not doing it for the glory of winning, but for self improvement and enjoyment.

Outside of competitive stuff, she likes to play video games. She's really into open world games. She also sometimes offers individual, one on one coaching for younger players.

Leela

Main gear: Cephalo Pods, Lime Ski Jacket, Gray Sea-Slug Hi-Tops

Likes weapons that skirmish a lot, and was a tetra dualies one-trick for a while. She doesn't mind playing support roles either, so she'll play the n-zap or splash o matic if the situation calls for it. She also likes the trislosher, but that's more for when she's playing soloqueue rather than on the team.

She's pretty new to competitive play. She met Jessica through X rank lobbies, where Jessica saw a lot of potential in her. Leela occasionally struggles with coordination-- she's very used to soloqueue, so she'll miss callouts and get caught off guard. As such, it's her main focus of improvement.

Outside of competitive stuff, she loves music. She almost always has earbuds in and is trying to discover new bands. She also plays the saxophone. She's optimistic, talkative, and can be stubborn to a fault.

Gale

Main gear: Knitted Hat (+ heart pin), Chili Octo Aloha, Violet Trainers

She's fairly flexible in what she can play, but she's strongest with shooters (her favorites being 52 gal and splattershot, sometimes splash o matic). If she can be aggressive with it, she'll play it.

She's the newest member on her team. She met Leela after regularly seeing her in anarchy lobbies, and Leela introduced her to the rest of the team. At first, Gale would fill in during scrims when one of the team members wasn't available, but when that team member had to leave, Gale took their place.

Gale hadn't played on a competitive team in a while, so they were a bit rusty. Monty recognized them from their previous team years ago, though he never mentioned it. He knew they had potential, though. They take their role on the team very seriously out of a desire to do better than last time.

Outside of competitive stuff, they like to cook. They're very social and dedicated to their work, but tends to hold themself to impossibly high standards.

These four are my oldest characters that I still use and think about, even though they’re only like - 2.5 years old loll.. they’re not the most deep and nuanced characters around but they’re fun :)

Robyn, Nikki, Kori and Marin make up Team Robyn (named after its leader), your average run of the mill turf war team. 

Robyn (he/him) is the team’s carefree leader/founder who tries hard to be cool but rarely succeeds. He’s a little dumb, but we love him for it. He’s the only member who doesn’t tend to worry too much about things, but that also means he tends to brush off things that actually do need attention. He takes a lot of selfies. He mains Sploosh-O-Matic.

Nikki (she/her) is Robyn’s adopted younger sister who he escaped the underground with after the events of Octo Expansion. (Oh yeah, I forgot to mention they’re octarians since these guys were created during Splatoon 2). Shes sweet and empathetic, but quite anxious and often worries about her place in the team. She prefers to keep her issues to herself so as to not bother other people. She often has her head in the clouds, daydreaming. She mains flingza roller.

Kori (she/her) is my favorite and it shows, as she has by far the most story to her. Shes snarky and sassy and often gets pretty aggresive during battles, but that passion is what makes her such a good asset to the team. She was actually on a different team, Team Cherry, before she met Robyn and Nikki, and needless to say that didn’t end so greatly and made her skeptical of Robyn at first. Originally she just offered to tutor him a bit, but of course she ended up joining in the end. Technically her headgear is the gas mask but I never draw her in it bc it’s hard to draw lol. She thinks S+ and X rankers are too pretentious, but she’s actually just salty that she can’t get out of S-. She mains .52 gal.

Marin (he/him) was the final member to be created and also the final member to join. He used to be on the same team that Kori was, being the second in command before Kori replaced him. This, combined with the fact that the inciting incident for the team breaking up was Kori leaving them, made their first few weeks of him being on the team a little rocky. They still have a bit of a friendly rivalry. Marin is often the most reasonable voice among them and is usually kinda grumpy. He’s always the main strategizer of the team, as the rest of them don’t really care about that kind of thing. He mains hydra splatling.

I have a lot of art of them but it’s all rlly old so this is all you get for now. I’ll probably make another post later explaining Team Cherry and what happened with that :] thx for reading !!

He/She Eight forever and always ^-^ people (including herself) default to she/her but she doesnt mind! Either prns are fine any time. Also doesnt label her sexuality he's just balling

Aside from all the sanitized kamabo bullshit i think hitting her head after the fight with agent 3 actually did give her some Lasting Brain Damage, and she has problems with forgetting things. Her and Agent 4's apartment is PLASTERED with sticky note reminders, even for stuff like "close the fridge" "turn off the stove" because she WILL forget to do that part

Agent 4 made her a little cookbook that step-by-step tells her how to make her favorite foods with those menial reminders to turn stuff on and off and close doors

AND she and Agent 4 have made what they call Eight's Brain Board, whoch is a crime board style corkboard that lays out all her memories and how they relate to each other just in case she forgets again. Proudly on display in their room

Likes wood-and-metalworking just to make little trinkets, most of the time Octivus or Squidmas gifts. The definition of Hobby On The Side that keeps her hands sharp. The first one she made on the surface was a little Salmonid keychain she gifted to Agent 4 ^-^

Still writes poetry too. She doesnt mean for it to be 8-8-8 syllables they literally just. Happen like that. She'll write a poem about literally anything. she wrote one about Agent 4's freckles

I know Donny is the shopkeeper in-game but Eight is the actual store manager for the Ammo Knights in Inkopolis Square. Sheldon hired her before he moved to Splatsville and she proved to be a VERY good employee so he let her take over the store

She and Sheldon often have friendly races between who can take apart and put a weapon back together the quickest. Eight's record is less than 2 minutes for a Hydra Splatling

Eight takes her job SUPER seriously and absolutely Will Not Budge on anything like prices or weapon availability. No "i left my ID at home" or "i'm basically level 10 cant i just have that one" she does NOT care. Rules are rules and by jove she will not only follow but she WILL enforce them

^ that being said she also HATES Grizzco. She doesnt like their shady vibe and has heard many horror stories about the actual work from Agent 4 (who works there to pay off his student loans) and she really really REALLY despises how they illegally modify weapons for golden rotations. Every time she finds a modified weapon she instantly confiscates and dismantles it. It's like a spit in the face to her entire career and she will not stand for it

Very good with teenagers! Mostly bc thats the majority of who comes into the shop. She loves hearing about their battle tales and has been jotting down little plotlines that unfold in her store (like a kid trying a new weapon to impress their crush, or someone climbing up the ranks in Clam Blitz, that type thing)

She has a reputation for being super nice to everyone but really its because she just has a really long fuse. It takes a LOT to get her mad

Charger main! She's amazing with any charger you put in front of her and she's an absolute MENACE in an inkbattle. Her favorites change but "you can never go wrong with a good and standard Splat Charger"

Her favorite battle mode is Tower Control!

She also Is crushing on Cap3 but she will literally never make a move. Partly bc they live across the ocean in splatsville now but also It's Agent 3. The Legendary Agent 3. Theyre Too Cool For Me (Agent 4 has been trying to wingman them together ever since they started hanging out. the pining is mutual theyre both just flustered. Hes suffering)

Idol relationships!!!!!!! Since she is genuinely good friends with Agent 3 she's frienda by proxy with the squid sisters. They dont really have a lot in common and dont hang out much but she and Marie like being menaces in inkbattles together because theyre both cracked with a Charger and love causing problems. Imagine 2 E-Liters on the Brinewater ledge. Hell. She finds it easy to chat with Callie and they'll talk about literally anything. Callie just has that effect on people i think

She sees Pearl and Marina as cousins, partly bc Pearl started calling her Cousin as a nickname but they really are like family. She lived with them for a solid month learning the language and etiquitte before they couldnt put off their Idol Jobs any longer, which is when she started living with Agent 4. They check in with each other every day and fuckig. LOVE EACH OTHER. She always gets front row tickets to their shows

Has only met Deep Cut very very briefly while being a roadie for OTH's world tour. They indimidate her but she'll take Marina's word that Big Man is chill at least. She's also heard good things about their heroism in Alterna from Cap3 so at the moment theyre vaguely Okay in her book

Also besties with Acht ^-^ initially bonding over Side Order bullshit but she finds their practical blunt nature to be really refreshing and calming. They mostly parallel-play when they hang out together. Like cats. She really likes their new music (can't listen to any Kamabo songs without feeling Bad after :( trauma and all. Acht respects this)

Shelly and Donny absolutely LOVE HER. She always entertains their kiddie ramblings and helps them out if they need a hand at their store, and theyre always welcome to work at her store if theirs is slow and they want something to do. She teaches them more about the weapons in a hands-on way so they have more to tell the customers rather than just parroting Sheldon

Speaking of, she's also great friends with Sheldon! Technically he's her boss but hes a very chill boss and she's been invited to family gatglherings outside of work and such. A good friend to the Shellendorf family!

"Hey eight how are you so cheerful all the time you have a very busy job and lots of friends to keep up with! Whats your secret!" Shes literally just in love with life. Thats it. After dealing with so much shit underground and nearly losing everything in Kamabo she has a huge appreciation for life itself. She relishes in the good and accepts the bad because at least she has a choice to experience it all. That being said can trauma responses go away she doesnt quite like those

The reason shes so good with Chargers is actually because she was training under a Special Forces unit in the Octarian Army

She was known in her class for being super smart and quick on her feet but she just CANT build up any muscle mass, and the wasabi supply unit were already thinking of allowing Certain Octolings to use Chargers and Splatlings without being Octocommanders or Octosnipers, so they decided to guinea pig her with a Charger along with a smattering of other similar Octolings

She became like. SUPER good at using Chargers and a lot of her peers would call her The Next Marina because she surprised everyone with how cracked she was at like everything they threw at her. She never liked this comprison due to wanting to just Be Herself

She was also known for being extremely caring and empathetic, which landed her in hot water for speaking out against the way she and her fellow colleagues were treated as faceless soldiers, and wondered if plotting against the Inklings was even worth it st this point. She famously got in MASSIVE trouble for insinuating that they let The Great Zapfish go and was in Detention/Jail for like a While and nearly lost all her progress climbing up the ranks

Alsooooooo :3 in my personal canon she was part of the squad to escort Callie into Octo Canyon. It was her first time ever on the surface and once she got a taste for the real sun she needed more of it

(I know Octo Expansion is likely happening the same time as Splat2 Hero Mode but it makes sense for my canon for it to happen After)

Also she's 18 st the start of Octo Expansion just to tie back into the whole 8 thing they had going on

The whole hypnoshade thing was also thrust on Callie as a surprise and like. It's not fun to be Surprise Brainwashed so of course she fought back before the hypnoshades took effect. Eight still has a scar on her shoulder from where Callie dug her nails in. That experience was also the final nail in the "i gotta get out of here" coffin

Even though she had made up her mind to run away to the surface, it still really hurt to leave her life behind. She had real friends and even something romantic going on with someone special, as well as having actual good standings in the army with a bright future ahead of her, but the surface was more worth it in her eyes. being able to have her own life instead of one she was forced into was so appealing. Her friends think she's selfish and definitely resent her now (even though theyre fuzzed and barely remember her in turn)

Oh and also her name used to be Maia Idachi :3 but since she doesnt know her old name she can't find her file in Cap'n Cuttlefish's dossier. She doesn't want to go by facial recognition in case she mistakes her fime for someone else's and remembers something that never happened to her yknow (got Maia from amai, the japanese word to describe something sweet to tie into her being caring and empathetic, and Idachi from Idako which is the word for a species of Octopus)

I only have Neo 3 and 8 as OCs cause I specifically made them to wear the Teddy Band and Golden Toothpick respectively. My Inklingsona wears the Skull Bandanna (plus it’s my favorite in-game headgear so I never change it), but since I worked so hard for the Teddy Band and Golden Toothpick I felt like I needed someone to wear them for me hdncjsdnc

- Ichiya: Modified Eliter, this one was fabricated to pierce through salmonid shields, is enough powerful to create a hole in a wall. He doesn't use it anymore since he moved out to Haikara City

-Ikkan: Modified Dynamo, he got to learn how to modify weapons but they tend to be dangerous, he made ichiya's Eliter

-Namida: Blaster, she has an inner craziness that is limited throught out her terrible fear to deal with people

-Murasaki: Trislosher, wasa present given by Namida, even though he doesn't play them much he uses it

ABXY

-Paruko: Can't play turf wars and doesn't enjoy them anyways

-Noiji: Clash blaster, 1) It's noisy 2) It's chaotic, enjoys to play only league with Raian

-Kuze: Slayer, Midliner, He's versatile with his weapons, he usually plays with .52 Gal or Nozzlenose. Despite his Drummer career, he won important matches and ended with his team on the top 100 leaderboard of the entire Country

-Mizole: Wet Floor branded new inkbrush, yeah it's like a mop but acts the same as a normal inkbrush, his ink color is actually cyan

-Kagi: Bloblober, his skin tone doesn't allow him to enter in many matches tho

-Rayan: Wet Floor branded splat dualies, yes they have an entire set of wet floor weapons themed in cleaning products

-Tsumabushi, I think his species can swim in ink but,,, can't give him a weapon, he seems to like other stuff

-Kazami, Crabs can't play turf wars but find the new splatana wiper really cute

-Ryū-chang, Octobrush,his long lineage led him to use this one, as he says he loves his "big slappy". He also performs tradicional calligraphy with it

-Paul, Splattershot Jr, he now reached an age to play turf, he's actually learning how to play rainmaker

-Karla, Nobody expect Ryuu has seen her playing turf wars, that only time she was carrying a Hydra

-Taichi, Doesn't like to play at all, he thinks he looks all stupid with a tiny weapon on his fins

-Ikkan: Alredy mentioned him, he stopped playing any turf once he moved along with Ichiya to Haikara City. He feels and looks unconfortabled to play or watch it

-Warabi: Dapple Dualies, can't play and doesn't want to, he hates the fact his tentacles are malformed and makes it hard to swim straight (it's like joycon drift) besides he's too of a business man to even have the time to play silly games

Nori's main weapon is the Heavy Splatling, although her secondary is the Snipewriter so once I redo the art (which... ive been procrastinating on so long that the season is over) she's probably going to have that instead.

Rodge also "mains" Mini Splatling actually, despite me never having drawn him with one (cool). He's basically had a different main every game, with the Splat Roller in Splatoon 1, and the Luna Blaster in Splatoon 2. So he also uses those weapons, but the newest one is the splatling (they are his favorite class, but he finds most of them way too big and heavy for him to use so he's happy there's a more compact one WITH ULTRA STAMP, NO LESS.)

that being said though i've been meaning to give more of my OCs splatlings because I REALLY enjoy splatlings, especially the hydra, but it just kinda hasn't happened so far lol. For some reason every time it comes to picking weapons for new OCs or even old OCs, some other weapon always feels more fitting

tilly is fond of shooters. uses the classic splattershot and all of its variants. switches between that and sloshers, specifically the tri-slosher. tilly also likes splatlings! not fun when you’re playing against them though :(

adrian used to main duelies but his the constant barrel-rolling technique he’d created eventually started hurting his back as he grew older, so he instead uses a splatroller. he mains the krak-on splat roller and terrorizes people with his kraken

he also uses a donimo roller. make of that what you will

marlon is fit for support. she mains the e-liter 4k scope. she rarely, rarely, brings out her big ass hydra splatling and it’s really bad when she does. it’s usually a stress reliever

this one's a long one so i'm putting it under the cut. and by long i mean REALLY LONG. we have a ton of characters here, from rws to tvs to tatmr characters. not everyone is here but i put a lot of characters i felt like i knew well enough to get a weapon vibe reading on.

thomas - tetra dualies, splattershot. just nuts movement.

annie - luna blaster. idk why but it seems like something she'd play.

clarabel - goo tuber. same as annie tbh it just seems like something she'd play.

edward - regular slosher, but sometimes switches to the nzap. he's not an annoying slosher main i'll note (sloshing machine mains you scare me and annoy me). i could ALSO see him dabbling in the occasional charger but not often

henry - flingza roller, sometimes will switch to a splatling. he's always been a roller main.

gordon - used to main the default roller but now mains the tenta brella.

pickles - whatever weapon is the most annoying in the meta. very annoying to play against because he doesn't help for the objective at all and just likes to be a shithead to the other team. he gets gamer rage often. plays turf war only, and jumps on comp to fuck with his bandmates. his character is an octoling

charles - splatana and undercover brella main. he is probably the best player out of the band only because he is a team player. he communicates as much as he can in game and only wants to break his controller sometimes. he's reigning in that rage for the punching bag later. plays anarchy battle. all modes. he's scarily good at it. also salmon run and is eggescutive vp. his character is an octoling.

skwisgaar - e-liter 4k scope dickhead. he loves spawncamping people. especially when he plays with the other guitarists because it ends up making them extremely mad. he's not that good but he always brags when he gets a 4 kill without even trying. don't look at his win loss record though. plays turf war but is surprisingly good in salmon run. his character is an inkling.

murderface - crash blaster main. he got killed by one 10 times in one match and now has made it his goal to learn this weapon out of fucking spite. very aggressive and very prone to gamer rage and rage quiting when hes losing. he plays turf war and anarchy but is hard stuck in b rank due to rage quits. his character is an inkling.

toki - dualies squelchers and splattershot main. like murderface is also angry at the game and rage quits often. he likes turf war the most obviously but always tries to play anarchy battle and keeps losing and throws his controller in the wall. he's broken like 5 at this point. he's decent at salmon run though. when he doesnt get fucked by weapon selection. his character is an octoling.

abigail - nzap 89 main. is just there for a good time. she tried playing with the guys and saw how mad they got so she just solo queues and has fun! she does not need anymore stress in her life, and yet she still plays salmon run with charles who treats it like it's life or death. she is eggescutive but at what cost....she likes tableturf battle too. her character is an octoling.

knubbler - flingza roller and l-3 nozzlenose main. the only person alive good at clam blitz and the only person who can play the nozzlenoze. he also is the only person who enjoys clam blitz too. its crazy. he's like s rank all because of clam blitz alone. he also spends all his money on the stupidest outfit combos ever that dont even give him good stats. love wins i guess. his character is an inkling

magnus - splatana and splatling main but he's bad at both. he's good with the splattershot but refuses to play that weapon because he wants to look cool and these weapons will in his mind be able to kill more people in game. well he doesnt and he goes into gamer rage because he got spawncamped but some guy using meta weapons its niot fair for fucks sake. into turf war and occasinally anarchy abttles but again. angry. mma got tired of his annoying ass and broke his switch. his character was an inkling.

mma - doesnt play video games. would be a nautlius main though and play anarchy only. he would also be an octoling.

She lost most of her memories during the events of Octo Expansion, which played out very similarly to canon. She’s slowly regaining bits and pieces, but may not ever regain all of them. She knows she used to be a mechanic for the octarian army.

After escaping the metro, she opted to be officially housed by Agent 3- though she quickly managed to sniff out the houses of all of the other idols and agents. Though she spends a good amount of time crashing at Priya’s place, she stays with Forba, Marina, and Pearl’s almost equally as often.

Personality: Aida is a very curious octoling, albiet also an extremely wary one. But more than anything, she’s clever. She enjoys taking things apart and putting them back together to see how they tick, and if given enough time, can figure out nearly any problem presented to her.

She’s often confused, but not because she’s stupid- she simply didn’t speak Inkish when she came to the surface, and is still learning both the language and the culture. She often prefers to talk in common sign language than verbally, something all of the NSS members can understand.

Her often being silent, combined with her tendency to stare at people and crawl in through the window, often makes her come off as creepy on occasion- but she’s honestly sweet, and has a soft spot that’s probably too big when it comes to certain issues.

ok so first off. ingo and emmet are octolings ^_^ im gonna say theyre albino

anyways so. in the octarian army they weren't like super into the whole military thing so they just kind of. ran away? like they just booked it. they eventually got to inkopolis and met elesa and they became friends! elesa is an inkling. obv. she has a mutation that makes her squid hair limbs multiple colors, kinda like camouflage! anyways ingo and emmet escaped to inkopolis at around 15~ish, and elesa is only like a month younger than them so they quickly bonded and started their own little turf war team!

elesa grew up to become a model and idol, and the boys are train conductors still, but also professional ranked battlers. they're very, very good. emmet is a charger main (e-liter) and ingo is a splatling main (hydra) elesa mains the aerospray, so their lil team has gr8 synergy! elesa can ink turf fast, but is a little weak offensively, ingo is super strong offensively, but not super great at the defensive bc charging takes time and so emmet covers them both from the back w strategy and immeasurable violence :)

somehow elesa never found out they were octolings until they were all adults. she just thought they had some crazy mutation!

also when off the hook was getting popular they immediately became marina stans bc they were so excited that another octoling got out!! woo!

pla takes place in the deepsea metro, with akari taking the role of agent 8 and clearing the metro w the help of ingo, and also off the hook :) bc i like them. funky girlfriends.

anyways ingo loses his memories still, but he gets them back he just has to be splatted on accident. friendly fire. like how you cover c.q cumber w ink. or captain cuttlefish. except not.
