Royal Mail celebrates 40th anniversary of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series with special stamps
Royal Mail has today revealed eight Special Stamps they are issuing to celebrate Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series, making the 40th anniversary of The Colour of Magic, his first book in the series. The stamps can be pre-ordered today, and will be available for general purchase as of 10 August 2023.
Fans can get their hands on stamps featuring Rincewind, The Librarian, Granny Weatherwax, Sam Vimes, and Great A’Tuin, as well as specially commissioned artworks of Death and Mort, Tiffany Aching and Moist von Lipwig, all of which are by Terry’s illustrator of choice for the Discworld series, Paul Kidby.
Royal Mail have been working closely with the Terry Pratchett Estate and Paul at the link above.
Illustrator, Paul Kidby says: “It has been a huge honour to illustrate this set of stamps to commemorate 40 years of Discworld. I am delighted to finally be able to tell people about it as it has been a big secret to keep! It’s a wonderful celebration of Terry’s ongoing legacy and continued popularity.”
David Gold, Director of External Affairs and Policy at Royal Mail says: “These striking stamps will be loved by generations both young and old. Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels remain as popular as ever and it is fitting that in the 40th anniversary year of The Colour of Magic, we celebrate with a set of stamps that honour the work of an iconic and globally admired writer.”
The Discworld stamps are available to pre-order via Royal Mail’s website, by telephone on 03457 641 641 and at 7,000 Post Office branches across the UK. A Presentation Pack including all eight stamps in the set is also available and is priced at £13.50.

When Jang uk got up to inspect, I felt faint and let out a few gasps as I said, "Don't hurt me anymore."
He then put his hand on my neck and whispered, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."
As I felt myself going numb again, I forced out a light gasp.
When he turned around to my side, he asked, "Is this because you feel I'm doing too much for you?"
I shook my head, and he went back to his position on top of me.
"No. I'm fine. Don't stop!"
I moaned as he starts to go faster.
But then I suddenly felt something press on my right breast.
"uk, please stop!" I whimpered
He doesn't hear me, so I try to pull my left arm back, but uk got off and grabbed a tissue to clean me.
When he was done, I heard him say, "You're my new girlfriend, right?"
After that, he put the tissue back and got back on top of me. He placed the tissue on my nipple.
He then started to kiss me again, but I felt this weird feeling down there, but I was confused as to why.
He asked me in a low voice, "What's wrong? You don't want me to continue?"
"It's just... I can't explain it. Just don't do this to me again," I whimpered while tracing circles around the tissue on my breast.
I then gasped when I felt something touching my ass.
Suddenly, his tongue came into contact with my butt.
I froze, and he then kissed my butt cheek, squeezing my butt cheeks in between his lips.
After he finished, I realized what he was doing.
"No! Please stop!"
He ignored me, and then he suddenly pushed himself inside of me.
I could feel another part of him within me, and I could feel him gently rubbing the tip with his fingers.
Then, I felt myself shuddering as he pressed himself harder and harder.
He then whispered, "So, have I proven myself enough to you?"
"You haven't proved anything yet," I replied while moaning.
I felt the wall of the bed hitting me on both sides, and I felt myself getting weaker.
"Oh, geez. . Please stop! I can't!"

Then, he pressed himself on top of me while moaning.
I could feel his heart beating, and when I felt his blood flow into me, I started to get lightheaded.

Lizzy doesn't have a huge sweet tooth. A little bit of indulgence now and then, but overall she's not one for sweets. If she was buying something from a bakery she'd lean towards the more savory options like the actual bread, but if it was specificlally for a snack she might pick up a pain au chocolat.

There's a nice balance to a bakewell tart that Booker really enjoys. The sweet jam, the almost savory edge of the almond base, the bite of the cherry. He likes the layers and textures, and the way they work together.

Cheese cakes are usually found in stores not bakeries (at least here in the UK), otherwise that what would have been Andric's 1st choice, but nothing beats cream cheese frosting as a second option for Andric, and that rarely comes on anything other than a Carrot Cake. It helps that he also enjoys how moist carrot cakes tend to be.

Admiral's Gingerbread (3 spoons)
It's been a rough last couple of months and I haven't really had the spoons to try new recipes for the most part, plus I was running out of interesting ones in my few cookbooks.
Thing is ... now I have new cookbooks. My bestie pre-ordered me a copy of B Dylan Hollis' Baking Yesteryear the moment we all learned about it. So I thought, "Hey, how about I pull a 'Julie and Julia' with this, and with Exquisite Exandria when it comes out, and cook my way through it to see how spoon-friendly it is?" So that's what I'm going to do the next little while.
(Well, insofar as I can, anyway. A lot of these are American and I'm not sure exactly how we find Velveeta here in the UK.)
Now, a lot of those recipes (hell, most of those recipes) involve flour, so I did some research to find a good brand of gluten-free flour that wasn't going to break the bank. The brand I found is from Middleton Foods, by the way, and it actually mixes in the xanthan gum so you don't have to do the measurements etc yourself. Plus it fits a lot of the parameters I have for the ingredients you find in good gluten-free pasta, so I had high hopes. I also had a yen for gingerbread.
Though Admiral's Gingerbread is honestly more gingercake, but ... bread in the "banana bread" sense. Thing is, however glorious the result, this is a recipe that, for someone with chronic pain issues, is made of no. Like, entirely no. Unless you own a hand mixer, do not do this one. ...But do get yourself a hand mixer because the results are great. The end result is this moist dense cakey bread with ginger tingling on the tongue and just a bit of that not-quite-bitter flavour of molasses. So I'll provide the recipe and then give the list of Things I Wish I'd Had When I Started This Mess.
Here's what you'll need:
225g (1 cup) butter (at room temperature)
1.5 cups self-raising flour
2 tbsp ground ginger
3 tbsp molasses or dark treacle
5 eggs (separated, yolks and whites both kept)
1.5 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp baking powder
It looks so simple, from the ingredients list. But the fun is just beginning.
Here's what you do:
Pre-heat oven to 350F (180C, 160C fan assist - and, after a bit of a Google to confirm for those in the UK with a gas oven, gas mark 4); grease a 9" by 5" loaf pan
Cream the butter; slowly beat in flour, ginger, and molasses
In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks and powdered sugar together
In another separate bowl, whisk egg whites until stiff (they should form peaks that don't fall over when you lift the whisk out of the mixture) and then beat in baking powder
Thoroughly mix the egg yolk mixture, and then the egg white mixture, into the creamed butter mixture.
Bake for 50-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the centre of the loaf comes out clean.
My stomach and taste buds do not regret what I put myself through to make this gingerbread. The gluten-free flour was a huge success (seriously, Middleton Foods; if you've got gluten issues, it comes recommended), and I have now had two servings of it - with my evening hot chocolate last night and as breakfast this morning. My arms and shoulders, however, are telling me a tale of woe right now. That's mostly because (with the sole exception of beating the egg whites stiff) I did all of that by hand. So here are my tips and hints.
DON'T DO THIS BY HAND. Get a hand mixer. I do not know how people in the 1910s did this. I mean, I should have known better. Hollis states in the damn cookbook that hand mixers are essential. I'm honestly just glad that my hand blender has a whisk attachment that I could use for the egg whites or I'd be truly boned.
Double-check your loaf pan dimensions. It turned out my loaf pan was just a liiiiiiittle bit smaller than 9" by 5". Thankfully the overflow was only a couple of drips and not Vesuvius, but still, nobody needs that aggravation.
A very flexible rubber spatula is going to be your best friend, particularly when it comes to the molasses. Molasses is a bit of a mess to pour, so unless you're good enough to be able to measure approximately three tablespoons by eye (which some people are, and maybe I will be one day but I am not there yet), having something flexible to help scrape the molasses out of the spoon is a big help.
Another household appliance that feels essential in this one is a dishwasher, especially if doing most of the mixing by hand. Honestly, even with a hand mixer, the mixer attachments are going to need cleaning, and it's still the same number of bowls. If you don't have a dishwasher, it's helpful to keep the sink full of warm sudsy water so that you can at least pre-rinse everything before washing. This especially helps with any implement that's been involved with the molasses. ...Actually, if you have a dishwasher, put everything in warm sudsy water when you're done with it anyway; pre-washing is generally a good idea.
I still recommend that everyone who's interested in baking buy Baking Yesteryear by B Dylan Hollis, no matter what I write here. He's all about the beauty. (Even if that beauty is to be found in horror - HE INCLUDED THE SPAGHETTI-O JELLO RING I DON'T WANT TO MAKE THAT ... actually I don't think I can do that because we don't have Spaghetti-Os here and our equivalent is thickened with wheat flour. First time I've ever been glad to be gluten intolerant. Anyway.) I am just the accessibility person behind the scenes. He's on the Magic Baking Road Trip and I am in the works truck behind him putting up warning signs.
Today, the warning is "Hey, see this, what I did? Don't do that. Do it smarter". I'm doing a Wacky Cake next time, swear to god.

bravetart week 3 pt 1: honey roasted peanut butter cookies
where i come from, america, the mother land, peanut butter is a staple diet. children eat it almost daily and i know outdoorsy folk who will go hiking and camping and live off a jar of peanut butter for their entire trip (although i think that says more about the calories in peanut butter). in the uk though, this is not the case. peanut butter is an incredibly divisive food so much so that i had a coworker retch when i told her what type of cookies these were. but brits have bad taste. this is nothing new nor is it somthing up for debate. another thing that isn't up for debate is that these cookies turned out fantastic. i think they're my favorite bravetart recipe so far. crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside. structurally sound and pair nicely with a glass of milk

bravetart week 3 part 2: glossy fudge brownies
brownies are a point on contention in my home. i am team cakey brownies while my girlfriend is team fudgy brownies. think of "the butter battle book" but something even unhealthier. personally, i think fudgy brownies are an awful in between of cakey brownies and brownie batter - the worst of both worlds. however, since this recipe is for fudgy brownies, i will be taking a step back and leaving the judgement to my girlfriend. here are her thoughts:
"10/10 fudgy brownies aka the superior type of brownie. lovely and moist but they still hold their structure really well. it's easy to undercook brownies in the quest for fudginess and just end up with warmed brownie batter but that didn't happen! although don't get me wrong i would also devour uncooked brownie batter"

Chocolate cake: everyone loves this one, 10/10, no need to ever try another chocolate cake recipe
For the oil I use a couple spoonfuls of coconut, melt that, and then canola for the rest of the 1/2 cup. The coconut really adds a good flavor. Other than that I follow the recipe.
Strawberry cake: first time trying strawberry, turned out great 🍓
I used 2 drops of natural red food color but after baking that vanished lol. The cake flavor was pretty mild but the frosting was amazing so it saved it. I made a batch and a half so I could make a full size + a smash cake for my one year old and fortunately didn't mess up the math 😅

Butterfly cake: pretty easy as far as fancy shaped cakes go, and really good flavor for such a simple recipe
I had to buy a piping bag + tip for this but the design is easy and made the kiddo happy 🩷 The biggest hassle was using grams and converting to fahrenheit as it is a UK recipe. It also calls for some butter substitute. Don't do that to yourself.

Black Trumpet

The Black Trumpet, or Craterellus cornucopioides, is an edible mushroom. This fungus is found in woods in North America, East Asia, and Europe.  It mostly grows under oak, beech or other broad-leaved trees, especially in moss in moist spots on heavy calcareous soil. It seems to appears from June to November, and in the UK, from August to November.
The fruiting body does not have a separation into stalk and cap like most mushrooms, but is shaped like a funnel expanded at the top, normally up to about 4 inches tall and .5–7 cm in diameter. The upper and inner surface is dark or black, and on rare occasions yellow. The lower and outer surface is a much lighter shade of grey. The fertile surface is somewhat smooth but may be wrinkled. There are no poisonous mushrooms that look like the Black Trumpet, making this a great mushroom for beginners to identify. However when it comes to locating them out in the wilderness, they’re not always easy to find. Their queer shape and dark color make them look like minuscule black holes on the forest floor.
Black trumpets are also edible! They contain 69.45 g of protein, 13.44 g of carbohydrates (mostly mannitol), 4.88 g of fat, fatty acids (primarily of the polyunsaturated variety), phenols, flavonoids, 87 mg of vitamin C, and vitamin B12. They don't look like something you'd willingly eat, but they have a very good flavor! When dried their flavor acquires black truffle.
The Black Trumpet was first described in 1753 by Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus and known as “Trompette de la mort” which translates to “Trumpet of Death” in France!

Yes, it is possible for men to be victims of abuse, particularly because men are seen as "tougher" and less easy to hurt so it's "okay" and "not a big deal" and similar bullshit. But the Depp/Heard case was not an example of that. He assaulted her several times, and when he got hurt it was from her defending herself once. Please, look at the evidence presented in the case - I know it's very, very easy to just assume you know what it is from all the media attention, but that's because there's a whole lot of PR spinning going on, mostly in Depp's favor. There are male abuse victims in need of championing out there, but framing Depp as one of them will ruin any attempt to do so effectively.
Mate, seriously? Don't subscribe to that terf shit. PR MY ASS. Did you even watch the trial at all? Me and my friends have seen it, people documenting it for real. You can go back and watch whatever streamer dude who clipped it on youtube for fucks sake.
And fyi, most articles doubled down on defending amber heard. PR???? How about all the articles that are spinning the narrative.
She lied, guilt tripped, withheld drugs from him when he was on recovery, so much he self harmed so the pain would stop. She cut off his finger, shat in his bed, and did everything in her power to control and manipulate him. And he defended her, because many abuse victims do defend their abuser, because they're being emotionally manipulated.
All this shit about "PR spun the narrative", is literally come out after the court case came to a conclusion, while I've seen millions of articles defending Amber Heard all throughout the court case. Did you even know she committed prejury? That she lied straight up?? Please look at the facts instead. Amber Heard is not the victim you think she is. She is an abuser. And I'm not going to defend a woman, just because she's a woman.
I'm not even a man, I was afab. My post was about how so many people, including many queer people, get abused by woman. But you see one single part of that, and go for it.
I am sincerely happy Johnny Depp won, and all this shit on tumblr is bullshit after the fact. If you need any more proof, I recommend you watch Moist Critical's video on it, or Ludwig's video on it. They explain it in a way that I agree with, Charlie more actually.
I am not defending Johnny out of bad faith. There's an article going around that people believe Amber got sued for, that's not the article because it doesn't mention Johnny within it. Plus Amber admitted she lied in court.
Also? The UK case? Yknow, the one against The Sun? Yeah that company is extremely transphobic, and have done this behavior before. So I don't trust a word they say regardless. How dare anyone think that they're reputable in any way. They're so horrible that they show up red on shinigami eyes.
I don't believe any rad fem rhetoric on this case for a second. I was gonna answer this privately, but it needs to be said. Any more asks sent to me about this "PR" situation will be ignored. This is all I need to say on this.
I sure as hell don't trust people who make those posts. I saw one in my recommended last night, and just as I suspected, everyone reblogging that was supporting a terf. There were several *reblogged from (someone with rad in their name)* and "i hate men" and "anti-johnny depp" which was previously something to look out for to show who's a terf and who's not.
Real victims support Johnny and people mad that a woman lost, are fucking idiots.

(1/5) After yesterday's audio post about a donut stuffing, how could I *not* stop for a donut this morning? Today's artisanal pick was an October classic, a vegan and gluten-free apple cider donut.
(2/5) This one was heavily sugared, a with solid crispy layer of cinnamon sugar that was 1/8" thick. They must have warmed it after sugaring, or sugared a donut still hot from the oven, so that the lower layer of sugar melted slightly and formed a crust.
(3/5) The body of the donut was less moist than usual, maybe because today's donut was sugared rather than iced, but it was still as solid, even chewy, as I've come to expect.
(4/5) The sugar and cinnamon drowned out the flavor of the cider, which I had to pay close attention for. So the topping could have been more subtle. And the sugar rush, sad to say, left me a little hazier and more sluggish than I would like to be at the beginning of a workday, so I had to double up on my morning tea for a caffeination boost. But I regret nothing.
(5/5) Also, for some reason (the general aesthetics of your blog, I think) I assumed until I heard your voice that you were from the UK!

You Should Care
I've been AWOL for a little while. Brain has not been working right.
That aside this is a topic I've been meaning to cover more in depth and I really wish I could get it seen by bigger names than myself like Moist, Asmond, etc. Which is the larger issue with what happened with Russell Brand.
For those of you COMPLETELY out of the know, Russell Brand has recently been accused of sexual assault, "Being a creep", and rape. These accusations came out after a "Journalist" approached several women, specifically with the intent to find women that would say things against him. Mind you, all of these allegations are over 7-10 years old and some older than 20 years ago. (Several women also came out claiming the exact opposite, and several more women came forward saying the journalists approached them as well, but because they only had good things to say, they were ignored).
Now what I'm about to cover is the larger ramifications this is going to have in the future. After these allegations came out the BBC and Channel 4 unilaterally took down almost all if not all of his content and shows. Not long after that happened, we heard that several other people were removing Brands ability to make money, specifically YouTube. Who demonetized him outright. Now thanks in part to Rumble and also....SHOCKINGLY, TikTok. Seen here.

So this is a GOVERNMENT, who actually has a decent amount of power, sending out requests to Public and Private companies, to remove the FULL ABILITY of a Private Citizen, to earn money.
Now you can totally believe that Brand did what he has been accused of. And if you do? More power to you. However, you should not agree with him being depersoned and debanked without a trial and conviction by a jury of his peers. However, this becomes impossible as news of the allegations spreads in general. It's a social assassination using the media.
However, now for the actual scary part. Under the "Freedom loving UK's" New laws, the are now threatening to remove Rumble from their country outright for not getting rid of Brands ability to make money. Never in my life have I seen this kind of blackmail by a government this publicly. For context here is some stuff that's coming out recently.

This feels like the UK reaching out to people that advertise on Rumble in an attempt to remove Brands ability to make money, but also to remove him from the internet as a whole.
And this should scare you. Not because it's some "Rich guy who used to be kind of promiscuous publicly". This is because it proves that governments have a monopoly on companies. Regardless of the interests of the public. What do I mean by this. Consider the following.
The UK Gov, more or less demanded, Russell Brand have all money earnings removed outright to YouTube(Yes other places but let's focus on this one for the moment).
Then, YouTube, takes and removes his ability to make money and removes him from the Partner Program as well. They in fact cite "Off Site Behavior" in doing this. Meaning, this sets a precedent, for YouTube, to receive a "Claim" or "allegation" against you, and they will act on it as if it's actual fact.
That should worry you. And no matter how much you don't like that "Nazis" exist, or any other awful group of people, Rumble and Kick are places that are supposed to be arenas of competition for YouTube and Twitch. Will they ever actually overtake? Probably not. But if we don't actually take a vested interest in trying to move people over to using the competition, we are more or less letting places, like the UK, or any other country for that matter, decide what is, "Real information".
How long until the profit motive from China becomes so much that companies start removing LGBT stuff from all media. How much profit motive from China is needed before they say, "Yeah no we don't just want you to minimize black roles in media. Take them completely out entirely". And while you think, "That will never happen", It's literally happening right now. THIS is the very public start to that problem. If we don't make this the hill we fight and die on, we are bowing to censorship, and we will not win this ground back.
It might be about time you started to take notice. Shit's going to go south really soon. How long until you take a stand?

I did discover while looking on her website, after a post bitching talking about British flour and how it is markedly different from US flour and that can really affect cakes*, a recipe using that golden syrup I bought, and I share it with you now
(She came up with this while in a flat in the Uk rewriting her entire Cake Bible for a Uk audience, but, obviously, this post was written for her main US one.)
Beloved English Gingerbread Cake--Rose Levy Beranbaum                                Serves:  10 to 12
8 tablespoons (4 ounces) unsalted butter 1¼ liquid cups golden refiner's syrup ¼ cup dark brown sugar 1 heaping tablespoon marmalade 2 large eggs 2/3 cup milk 1 cup (4 ozs.) sifted cake flour (lightly spooned into cup and leveled off) 1 cup -1 tablespoon (4 ozs.) whole wheat flour     (lightly spooned into cup and         leveled off) 1½ teaspoons baking powder ½ teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon powdered ginger 1 teaspoon cinnamon a pinch salt         lemon syrup: 2 tablespoons lemon juice, freshly squeezed     2 tablespoons unsalted butter 3 tablespoons sugar One 8-inch square cake pan, preferably metal, greased, bottom lined with parchment or waxed paper, then greased and floured.   Note:  some metal pans slope inward and are less than 8-inches at the bottom.  In this case it is better to use a 9-inch square pan or fill the pan ½ full and bake the excess batter as cup cakes. In a small, heavy saucepan, on medium-low heat, stir together the butter, golden syrup, sugar and marmalade until melted and uniform.  Set aside until just barely warm, then whisk in the eggs and milk.   In a large bowl, whisk together all the remaining dry ingredients.  Add the liquid mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring with a large spoon or rubber spatula just until the batter is smooth. Pour the batter into the prepared tin, no more than ½ full.  Bake for 50-60 minute or until a tester inserted near the center comes out clean and the cake springs back when pressed lightly in the center.  The cake should start to shrink from the sides of the pan only after removal from the oven. To make syrup:  In a small pan, stir together the 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 2 tablespoons softened butter and the 3 tablespoons sugar.  Heat stirring, until the butter is melted and the sugar dissolved.  Brush half the syrup on to the top of the cake.  Let the cake cool in the pan on a rack for 10 minutes. Loosen the sides with a small metal spatula and invert onto a greased wire rack.  Brush the bottom with the remaining syrup.  To prevent splitting, reinvert so that the top is up. For extra moistness, cover the cake with plastic wrap while still hot and allow it to cool.  Wrap airtight for 24 hours before eating.
*This also may explain why some of my recipes just...do not turn out, overseas. Apparently getting anything approaching cake flour is difficult and annoying and anyway if RLB has to basically remake every cake, rewrite every recipe, with those ingredients and tools, I don’t stand a chance in hell.

CVL : Creating Briefs from Tweets (Workshop)

I took place in a workshop with Hannah Sheppard, using tweets and news articles for form briefs for different starting points. We got a new article on the issue of tourism, 2nd homes and housing rules and challenges associated with letting. One of the big issues was trying to tackle how many 2nd homes there are, and the lack of permanent homes in UK Hotspots. We were moist interested in the topic of how local businesses were effected by the boom in summer, and the lack of business in winter, and the insecurity this can create. 
We got the starting point ‘Critique’; a detailed assessment of something such as a political situation or system, a criticism or critical comment on some problem or subject.
Ideation on Art Directions;
- App/Survey, connects your opinions to the council to help you save&buy
- Advert for housing company (encouraging to rent/buy)
- New government help to buy scheme for people living in tourist hotspots 
- Curate an exhibition to raise awareness/comment on the issue
- Short film of people being affected, documentation
- Social Media takeover/interruptor on websites
- Publication to give a voice to those affected
Writing the Brief
Background
In UK tourist hotspots, seaside towns experience high number of visitors in the summer, bringing good business to local businesses. However, due to tourism decreasing in the winter, leaving houses vacant, these businesses suffer.
Creative Challenge (Methodology)
Develop a publication that gives a voice to business owners in a chosen tourist hotspot, which makes them feel heard. This should aim to raise awareness of the issues they face, rather than trying to solve the problem.
You may want to explore a variety of topics such as income, isolation and living conditions.
Considerations (Context)
Consider the context in which your publication could be sold or advertised, and how to best reach your target market. You could also consider the form in which this takes, as this could take place on digital or physical format.
Consider what kind of publication would be most effective for the message you are trying to convey, could this be a zine, magazine or flyer?
Target Market
You could aim your publication at tourists to raise awareness within the community, or aim to make a wider spread impact outside of your chosen location.
You could also choose to aim your publication at the people who could make change such as large companies and government. This could take the tone of a protesting publication.

The touch of his moist lips that made him shiver, the caresses he gave him made his skin goosebumps, strands of his long golden hair were stuck to his forehead by sweat, the light that indicated the beginning of the day barely entered the room. Where they were, tangled between sheets, the heat he felt inside him only wanted to bring him closer to him, wanted more and it seemed that it was never enough.
He wanted him close, very close to him, he loved him, now and he always did. His whole body trembled under the body of the other, everything he was doing to him, he wanted to stop time, stay like this forever, although he himself knew that this was something that he was not within his reach.
He moaned again, he could not stand it, he felt that he could not control his body that was at the mercy of the other but he knew that it was something that he also felt, he could notice it, in his caresses, in his touches, in his kisses and in his look full of lust but the way he gave him a smile, the way he was touching him, he knew that behind those green eyes that cried out for more, there was love, a lot of love and Francis knew it and every gesture and detail he had with him, made the French fall more in love with him.
Words were not necessary, everything was obvious, they both knew it. Francis couldn't help but run his hand over the other's toned chest, a body of someone who was once a warrior. His hand continued to explore until he reached his red strands,

Francis opened his eyes feeling his wet cheeks, he looked at the white ceiling while he returned to the reality in which he was without being able to assimilate what he was feeling.

It had been centuries since he last saw him and the little encounters they had weren't suitable for talking about their relationship, he just wasn't.
Arthur, his little brother, was the one who was in charge of UK affairs so he was the one who went to world meetings and gatherings and he was the one who talked to other countries.
Alistair, like the rest of his brothers, did not go to these meetings but if they were involved in a relationship, Dylan was with Chris and since he is also part of the Commonwealth, he was often at Arthur's house and both Dylan and Chris could enjoy the day together and Liam had a different "or special" treatment as if he were the spoiled one, that's why he could go out with Emil, Arthur could go out with whoever he wanted but Alistair was not allowed that, he couldn't love while he saw how his brothers did.
He would come home after a hard day and see how Arthur and Kiku were in their own little world in the kitchen, Liam and Emil snuggled up watching movies and Dylan and Chris in the bedroom doing... well, he didn't even want to know.
He felt it was unfair, why could they love and he couldn't? Well in truth if he loved, he did, he has loved the same man for 1000 years but he is someone that Arthur in his pirate days was not allowed under any circumstances to see, not even ask a question.
"How are you?" mostly because of Arthur's obsession that he had with him for years despite making it clear that he didn't want to. He was his rival and his enemy and would not allow his older brother to be with him.
Alistair according to him entered the house, he left, not that he cared what his brothers did, he was happy for them that they could love and be loved but knowing that he is not allowed, he cannot be at home.
In these cases he would go to his land, to the highlands, he knew magic so the journey was definitely shorter. He would stay on top of a hill looking at one of his many lakes, contemplating nature. If there were two things that were beautiful in his eyes, it was nature and Francis.
He just stood there wondering what he was doing, he was really worried if he had forgotten about him since it seemed that he and Ludwig were pretty close now despite everything.
Not even he himself could tell if the Frenchman was still a friend. Was he a friend? It's been so long, long enough that their relationship shattered into thousands of shards of glass.
A relationship that cost a lot to do and more on Alistair's side since he was never good with words and yet it seemed that Francis always understood him.
He thought about his blue eyes, his hair, his smile, he loved this man since they were kids without having a clue about the world and much less about love but since not everything is about knights and princesses, today he would be ashamed, he felt that he betrayed the man he loved the most in 1560 and the straw that broke the camel's back was in 1707 when he was united with his little brother. He felt that Francis could not forgive him, he still remembers his look when he mentioned the Treaty of Edinburgh, as from then on, his whole world, for both of them, was going to change drastically and he was not able to say anything to Francis as he watched as tears they came out of his eyes and he turned his back on what Francis considered more than a friend and a simple ally.
Scotland was much more than that
And Alistair was left with a bad taste in his mouth, he needed time but his desire to go to where the Frenchman was and tell him that it was not something that he personally wanted, he already knew. Francis knew that, he knew him well, only the news shocked him and he was not able to go back and try to talk to him, he could not see his face, for the first time in a long time he did not know what to say to him and they decided to keep quiet and see if time could bring them back together
Alistair came back from the thoughts of him. He couldn't deny that he had been happy with Francis but guilt surrounds him and even if Francis forgives him he won't be able to see his face although maybe, on a slim chance, if they do meet he can buy him a drink and talk and maybe finish what they started when they were younger
-We should never have been separated- And he was partially right but they both knew that something like this could happen, they are nations and their responsibilities are above anything else
-I miss you so much, he said, hoping that somehow his words could reach Francis.
