Some redesign ideas I had for Eugene and the Pooka (or pookas since I assume they’re a species and not a singular entity) after watching S3. I honestly do like them how these turned out, so I’m hoping to use them for future projects and fanfic stories I have in mind, especially since I plan on doing more S3 redesigns soon if the interest for it is there.

For Eugene, I took some inspiration from the original myth of the Nordic Nixie, water spirits that attract women, children, and even men through their enchanted playing of the violin, either for the audience or to drown them, and attempted to figure out how to properly translate that to the show’s art style and tone. I decided to make him a bit more menacing by giving him a bit more pinniped inspired features, like the elongated skull and enlarge nostrils, while mixing in some cues from Mike Mignola’s Abe Sapien, specifically with the gills and the eye markings, and some from the Gillman from the CotBL and the Amphibian Man from Shape of Water, in terms of scales and general physique.

Also a bit unrelated but I’ve no doubt the Amphibian Man may have legit influenced canon Eugene as well, what with the use of bioluminescence, but that is a discussion for another time.

As for lute, I thought it be interesting to switch out his comedy and singing routine to a musically based one, with the idea of him being more of a bard regaling specific hymns and laments rather than using a violin to lure in victims. I also simply like the idea of the lute having an adult deerfox antler as a neck that connects the strings, mainly to imply the weird ecological interconnectedness of the creatures in Trolberg.

For the Pooka I started off by simply taking features from real extant animals like rabbits and horses while trying to take some inspiration from the descriptions I’ve read from the original folklore involving the puca, which can vary from black fur or white fur, humans with some animal features, a weird hybrid of animals, or an amorphous goblin like that sketch that inspired the look for the show’s canon puca.

Obviously I decided to lean into giving them more animalistic features, with giving Astrid’s Pooka rabbit ears and some fur tufts to correlate with the rest of the creatures in Trolberg while still keeping the original shape of the design, and making the older Pooka a weird mix of an opossum and a horse, what with the hooves, the head shape, and the mane to compliment other features like the rat-like tail with the fur tuft at the end of it and the little button nose.

I probably have more in mind with the redesigned Pookas but for now, I rather attempt to do more designs for some of the S3 characters and actually try to make a Hilda side blog so I don’t annoy ya’ folks with my ramblings. Regardless, I hope ya’ll like this.

it's such a fun style!! (even if colouring this took about 5 hours longer than i predicted 😅) didn't have the best opportunity here, but foliage and natural environments look so beautiful in the style! i love that only the distant backgrounds have coloured outlines, and pretty much all foreground and midground elements have hard black outlines!

i love that the colour palettes are so lively and lush but muted enough that it's never straining on the eyes! i adore that things like the sky and water are broken into blocks rather than full gradients, that csp real g-pen-esque crunch on all the lines, the absolutely gorgeous scenes with harsh lighting or the big shadows or the way they animated the SMOKE and SPLASHING !!!!!

i'm incredibly normal about this style!!!!

i was watching my brother play dynasty warriors: origins, and it just hit me that fire emblem: 3 houses was also a riff off romance of the three kingdoms/sangoku

i think in the west we're just so used to it being harry potter inspired, so we only see harry potter in 3 houses, which is true, there is a lot of harry potter-esque imagery and inspiration, but romance of the three kingdoms is hugely influential in the east, and it shouldn't be overlooked.

as for who represents what, i can see possibilities for:

shu = golden deers, a de-facto all around "good guys" route, or blue lions as well (felix, dimitri, sylvain possibly similar to guanyu, zhangfei, and liu bei?)

wu = more likely to be golden deers, a kinda afterthought route that later allies with the "good guys" route, or finds themselves on a similar side. (hilda gives sunshangxiang vibes with being a warrior princess, and mercedes and annette's bond can be referred to as sisterly if youre not going down the wlw route and compared to the qiao sisters)

wei = black eagles, both because i dont think the black eagles can be represented by wu or shu, and that edelgard gives the same ambitious the ends-justify-means as cao cao. that and given the rise of jin/cao cao doesnt even get to see his empire gives me those who slither in the dark vibes.

obviously the territories-to-houses are my own assessment, but id be curious what other people think! i'm not as deeply familiar with romance of the three kingdoms beyond dynasty warriors lore, which is wacky in and of itself, because i havent actually read it lol.

narratively speaking the way that hilbert is a direct parallel to red drives me insane (positive) but looking at it from the perspective of my silly headcanon pokemon world where red has been a public figure since hilbert was around 3, thus has pretty much been an influential concept for nearly all of hilbert's life, and hilbert realizes early on that he's trans because he wants to be red and have other people see him like they see red then tries to emulate red's gender presentation until it becomes a similar yet unique thing for hilbert... well that is something i think about so much

Candace 10

Look, at this point you shouldn’t be surprised. I love making Candace do cool shit, I love crossovers, I love AUs, and nobody can stop me.

Summer vacation is here again, though it’s off to a slower start than last year since the Flynn-Fletchers are on a camping trip the first couple days. Then Candace goes on a walk before dinner, nearly gets hit by a meteorite that turns out to actually be a metal ball, unwillingly gets a new watch, and suddenly this summer gets a lot more interesting for all the wrong reasons.

Starting Playlist

Mudslide- A Lenopan. Candace doesn’t know how to shapeshift properly at first, so she starts out just using the fact that she’s a massive mud monster and throws her weight around.

Big Chill- Using the original design instead of Omniverse, obviously, though she also wears a red and white vest since I like the “clothes turn into some kind of uniform” thing that OG and Omniverse do.

Nodestool- some kind of weird mushroom with legs that can control plants and has no discernible facial features but can still see and talk. It also smells like popcorn for some reason.

XLR8- Candace’s favorite alien hands-down.

Prick- Argit’s species. Name taken from Ink Tank’s version because the original name I came up with was dumb.

Ball Weevil- I just really like them ok?

Brick Brawl- a massive humanoid made of stone, with an appearance partially inspired by the Iron Golems from Minecraft, because all starting playlists need The Punchy One.

Overflow- The best reboot alien in my opinion. They’re all good but Overflow’s the best.

Proxi- The same kind of AI that Pixi and Otto are. No I don’t care that they’re robots and not an actual species this is my AU and I do what I want.

Outa’ Sprite- One of the elves from Hilda. Candace doesn’t know about the paperwork stuff until later so she just thinks there’s nothing she can do about being invisible and selectively intangible, hence the name.

The whole family(well, whole immediate family) knows about her having the Omnitrix right from the start since they were there for it, and she tells the other kids, Stacy, Jeremy and Jenny about it as soon as she gets the chance since she knows from her love of superhero comics and from the boys’ run as The Beak that keeping this stuff secret from those close to you just causes problems in the long run.

The kids actually end up helping her with hero stuff because of course they do, with Phineas and Ferb using the Beak suit, Baljeet using Hulkjeet(since I need Mission Marvel to be canon for plot reasons), and Isabella and Buford discovering they’re 1/4 Osmosian and 1/2 Anodyte respectively. Also Animo ends up as Candace’s nemesis because of course he does, and actually manages to create a fully functional Omnitrix knockoff called the Terratrix that lets its wearer turn into different mutants he designs and uploads into it, giving it to his summer intern/assistant Wendy “Snail” Vires, aka that one girl Candace had a food fight with in Unfair Science Fair, because I wanted Candace to have a rival but Kevin’s spot is being taken up by Isabella.

Perry, in the meantime, has his time split between helping Heinz be a good guy, helping the kids without them finding out about him, and fighting evil without the consistency of a nemesis, so his summer’s pretty packed.

Things of course get thrown for a loop when Vilgax shows up, and there are a lot of reveals packed into a very short time frame.

The obvious stuff, like the Omnitrix’s name and who’s been sending all those drones.

Grandpa Reginald turns out to be a retired Plumber, he just never brought it up before now because after the NDAs ran out it just wasn’t that relevant to his current life. If he’d known about Candace having the watch earlier he absolutely would’ve mentioned it though.

Perry sees Candace getting absolutely thrashed by Vilgax and blows his cover to go utterly ballistic on him.

Except it turns out that Candace has known since Africa due to being part of the battle against Evil Carl’s robot army and just never mentioned it.

Ferb has also known since Ready for the Bettys since he didn’t build the lair and Phineas clearly didn’t build the lair and also never mentioned it.

Linda finds out about Phineas and Ferb’s inventing prowess and realizes Candace was right about all the things that happened last summer, and also finds out that the reason the boys and Lawrence never told her is because they hadn’t realized she didn’t know the full extent of it.

She also apparently didn’t know that Candace wasn’t the only one being a superhero this summer.

Candace and Perry lose to Vilgax and both get captured and the Omnitrix glitches out and gets set to shuffle when they manage to escape, while the ship ends up under attack by the adult Flynn-Fletchers in the Flying Car of the Future Today, the kids using their powers, and the Doofenshmirtz family and Stacy in the Doofenshmirtz #### Inc. Blimp, eventually leading to another one-on-one fight between Candace and Vilgax that she just barely wins due to both her unpredictable shuffling between aliens and unlocking a new form called Inkydink that looks and acts like it came out of a rubberhose cartoon, with all the slapstick invincibility and strength that implies.

And I do have a lot more for this AU but this seems like enough to start off with.

sorry to bother again but I looked through some Jugdral Heroes quotes and uhhh why does Treehouse straight up omit/add/change stuff?! For example Ullr: In her quote about the Miracle of Dahna she just says that it's the beginning of their blood pact. The japanese however says that the Gods (Dragonkin) took pity on the crusaders being cornered by Loptyr, descended and granted them power. Why omit this? Dragons can't be nice or what?? Then there's the quote about mankind turning their back on gods. The japanese says something like "If someone wants to become a god, they will eventually go astray". I guess this could be a translation mistake but I dunno I could only think about how a certain someone is often compared or even straight up referred to as "Goddess" multiples time throughout the story *cough*. Lastly there's Tine: In japanese she does not say that maybe one day she could like Friege. Why did they add that? To prepare us for the Friege circlejerk once the remake drops?

Granted, I don't speak japanese but I threw the lines into multiple different translators and the translations were overall congruent. I wonder how many other quotes were drastically altered. 🤨

And recency bias is a hell of a drug, I'm sure of it.

Even if earlier incarnations of Supreme Leader were tanked in FEH through her FB events, they can't suddenly make her look completely, uh, out of the franchise by arguing something regarding dirty lizards.

FE4 is thus seen through a FE16 lens (and by FE16 lens I mean the lens the game gave us, that is Supreme Leader fights for "muh ideals" and maybe lizards bad and lizard blood is the reason why society sucks, because if you argue the contrary the game suddenly doesn't make any sense and all characters end up being sock puppets bar Flayn") when it should be the contrary, given how FE16 took some inspiration from Jugdral.

Because if dragons, in Jugdral, give their magical blood to help humans against one of their wayward kind, the magical blood can't be used as scapegoat to justify society's ills, and Jugdral's message of "humans suck, sometimes they can do great things, and sometimes they can do stupid things" clashes with "lizard blood/crests is the reason why the society sucks and we should strive for a society without lizard blood/crests".

The mankind turning their backs on gods is also completely nonsensical - Ullr sounds like a "religious extremist ~ " when she never said that, she wasn't fighting against Galle because Galle thought he was God reborn, she was fighting against him because his Empire sucked!

Her jp quote is very interesting, warning what should happen in Jugdral if one loser thinks he alone can change the world, and act as a god (even if he will not call himself one) but as a enlightened despot/emperor - he will be led astray. Granted, Oldvis suffered from Manfroy randoming popping up with Julius's birthday present.

But her quote is nice, given how she founds a Duchy within Granvalle, and how Granvalle, despite being a Kingdom, still has important duchies it has to take into account. Maybe some sort of primitive system of check'n'balances to prevent the Heim descendant from becoming a despot?

I always had ambivalent feelings about Tine tbh, but yes, to me she cannot "hate Freege" or "eventually come to love it" because while Hilda'n'Blume were Hilda'n'Blume, Tine still had her cousins (RIP Ishtore forever forgotten) and was a general of Freege, I cannot see her harbour the same "feelings" Arthur would have regarding the Duchy.

I am glad they kept the grieving Hilda though, but given IS's recent record with having nuanced antagonists, yep, I'm afraid Friege will be "obviously" evil, Blume won't be a carpet who doesn't say no when it counts but will actively murder babies and Ishtore will slaughter puppies during his free time.

Already keeping the count on Rhea makes me mad lol, but I'm sure there are less probabilities of units added pre FE16 to have been completely warped to fit with FE16's "core thematic" and Supreme Leader's "ideals".

Irene: Favorite - Alice in Wonderland; she imagines that the Afterworlds (where Necromon come from) look like Wonderland. She also really likes Tarzan, specifically, for some reason Jane is just REALLY COOL. Least favorite - The Hunchback of Notre Dame; Quasimodo deserved better

BONUS ROUND (feat. NPCs and Ness) Ness: Ness' favorite on-the-record Disney movie is Lilo and Stitch, but he loves to watch 101 Dalmatians when no one is around because he likes all the puppies. Also does not like Pinocchio. Jiminy's a loser and so is the puppet.

Everett: Everett likes the nightmare before Christmas, obviously. He doesn’t like to admit it’s because of the Christmas parts. That being said, Ratatouille is the movie that changed his life.

Aegon: He hates Tangled because they squandered Rapunzel's hair. The power of eternal life, and they did nothing.

Rasputin: Rasputin insists that Anastasia is a Disney movie, and even though he’s technically right, he doesn’t understand that it’s because Disney bought Fox. He doesn't like The Princess and the Frog because Dr. Facilier is a POSER.

Elliot: Elliot hasn’t seen a Disney movie since he was 10, because he’s not a child. As such, his favorite Disney movie is whatever one was most popular for his age demographic at the time (although he secretly was quite enchanted by The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad).

Alina: Her favorite varies, but she feels really seen by Inside Out, because she wishes she knew what was going on in her almost-teenage daughter's head.

Okay so, to preface this all, I’m not a character designer and I’m actually pretty bad at it, but my rule of thumb with really unappealing or fan-service outfits is whether or not it makes sense character-wise and how much it tells the player about the character. For example, I think we can all agree that there’s quite a bit of fan-service elements in Hilda’s design. Boob window. However, it’s not unrealistic to imagine Hilda picking out those clothes for herself. Her costume tells you almost everything you need to know about her character on a visual level. She’s confident, pretty, attention-grabbing, and high maintenance while the gloves and laced girdle give a nod to her Viking-maiden roots.

Taking it to female Byleth, I don’t think that her outfit works on either front. Her design is definitely my least favorite and it’s not helped by the fact that you have to look at her at all times. Whatever. The huge, solid mass of boobs, the buttoned bib, the big eyes, the feather hair, the bellybutton, the ripped tights, the booty shorts. She’s a merc out in life and death situations with an accessible, pale, tacky 2000′s “stab me” stomach cut out and a wedgie. Which could be excusable if, like Hilda, there was reason to believe that that her costume was character choice. But she doesn’t really have much character, and what there is gives the impression of a very stoic, dry, blunt person. I have no idea why they’d have gone that route when the sexual appeal of more “utilitarian” costuming (aka, form fitting armor that at least pretends to be functional) for characters like her is scientifically proven AND would say more about the singular personality trait she possesses. Okay, well, I know why they didn’t do that and I think it’s lame. This dysfunction of “character designer wanted a sexy girl but it’s kinda random and just shoved in the game without any thought” actually reminds me a lot of Xenoblade 2′s leading ladies, Hikari and Pyra. Although considering that their bad designs led to a lot of people hating the game for superficial reasons while accepting female Byleth’s design, I guess I’m just bitter. Jumping to a different comparison, then, look at 2B from Nier Automata. Her design is fine as hell which is kinda hypocritical of me considering that it's explicitly fan-service, but I think it also shows the most damning thing for female Byleth. Her whole look, despite having a dozen different element thrown in, is boring. Maybe it’s the colors (dressing her in all black and white would have been really interesting considering the colors of the three lords are so heavily emphasized as a part of their characters) or maybe it’s just the way the desperate elements come together. But, like I said, I'm not even slightly knowledgeable about character design and I know that despite Three Houses being mostly separate, they had to appeal to a larger aesthetic brand to which I have little experience with. And, ultimately, a lot of people find her cute or sexy which...To each their own, I suppose. I don’t pretend that fan-service doesn’t work on me (2B... Cloud’s arms in the remake... Seph's shirtless Smash skin...) but when it’s this obviously inserted in by the character designers rather than feeling organic in any way AND looks bad I'm just not super interested.

The other worst designs for me would be all four of the Ashen Wolves post timeskip. I don't think it's controversial to say that they didn't try with the clothes, even if I love their designs from the neck up (Yes, even Balthus. He looks like the type of guy that would let you sit on his shoulders at a rock concert so you could see the stage). While there are other designs I think are unappealing, those are for purely aesthetic reasons and so I can't maintain the opinion that they're actively bad or that I even truly dislike them.

As for favorite looks... I actually have a few so sorry you're getting all of them because despite the shit I'm talking, I actually really really love the character designs in Three Houses. 

Ferdinand's post timeskip is one of my favorite designs, if not my favorite. The hair, the coat, the armor, the spurs, the colors. You know exactly who Ferdinand von Aegir is just by looking at him. He’s wealthy, handsome, confident in his appearance, a hero, a princely type character, his battle form is mounted combat which is traditionally aesthetically reserved for nobility and leaders... I love it. The only reason I cannot say he IS my favorite is because of the three Lords. But before them, my honorable mentions include post timeskip Hilda, Dorothea, Lorenz, Felix, and Hubert. Granted, I could make a case for why I like almost all of the student’s post timeskip looks.

For the Lords, I obviously have to start with colors because, weirdly enough, Persona didn’t invent primary colors but are actually used as shorthand. Blue is the color of honor, loyalty, sincerity, sadness, and depression. Something I’ve always found very interesting is that blue is very rarely found in nature. To me, that’s always made it seem more lonely which, at least in this case, is thematically relevant. People call Dimitri boring pre timeskip and while I won’t defend his hairstyle (okay, actually, I probably would because he tucks it behind his ears and idk why but that’s one of the cutest things ever) I really like how unassuming he is. Bland. He’s supposed to be the plain shortbread cookie to caramel deLite Claude and strawberry meringue Edelgard. It is not in his character to draw attention to himself or stand out. To me, he kinda looks like an old Barbie prince, like he should have been named Dominic. Also I love the blue eyes/blonde hair thing and his more angular features. It really helps to sell him as the fakeout chivalrous prince type. Post timeskip, Dimitri's black armor is amazing. I love the fact that it’s a lot more intricate up-close with the different little shell-like pieces and the fact that his boots are furry. I love the big cape and the black and white fur around his shoulders. It’s really cool how they used his costume to change the shape of his in-game model to match the bodily proportions of the character art. It’s easier to see when you change his costume into the DLC ones, but the fur and cape build up his shoulders and chest look more broad while keeping that tiny little waist. The choice to give Dimitri an eyepatch is probably my favorite thing about this design. It’s genuinely inspired. Such a simple detail yet it tells the player everything they need to know about adult Dimitri when they see him post timeskip, in one frame the player can begin to understand the extent of his loss over the past five years. The subtle shadow under his eye in the first few Azure Moon chapters and the messy long-ish hair really help to sell the feral prince aesthetic as well, as it’s from those small cues the player gets that he’s exhausted (in more ways than one) and doesn’t maintain himself. None of these things are intentional choices by Dimtiri, they’re the result of what his character has been through.

Yellow is an intense, energetic color. Mostly, people think of it as being warm and inviting, the color of the sun and positivity. That intensity can be overwhelming, though, too visually demanding when compared to its primary counterparts. Don’t stare at the sun too long. Buuuut, it’s okay to stare at Claude. Claude not wanting to wear tight pants in either of his costumes is not only a mood, it is iconic. Pre timeskip, the softer lines of his silhouette makes him look kinda slouchy, kinda lazy. Like he’s not too concerned with appearances. But those adorably messy curls, the little braid, the clearly tended eyebrows, and earring make it clear that he DOES care about appearances and is very aware of his allure. And that’s before he even starts winking. It is honestly so in character that as many people picked him first on the basis of being thirsty, that feels like an intentionally Claude thing even if it was inserted by the designers. The contrast of his complexion with his seagreen eyes is gorgeous and instantly adds a kind of mystery and intrigue to him considering the setting... but it’s sf funny that nobody looked at bronze god Claude among a sea of white faces and thought something was up. Post timeskip, they used the same trick like they did with Dimitri to change Claude’s in-game model to match his canon appearance. The way they designed his uniform makes him not look as twink-ish, like he’s actually muscular and imposing and has the strength he’d need to shoot a war bow with a 120lbs draw weight. Also like Dimitri, you can instantly tell what Claude’s been up to. Like, he was very pretty pre timeskip but when he shows up in the Goddess Tower after those five years in all that gold, he demands your attention. Like a gentleman general with the excessive aesthetic ideals of the Alliance and details to imply his heritage. The quilted pants are amazing from both an aesthetic and practical standpoint. He’s a mounted unit riding a creature with scales, of course he’d want something on his legs for protection. And the chinstrap. I love that so much, it definitely makes him look more adult. He’s got such a cute soft baby face, it’s fun imagining him experimenting with different styles during the five years to get the most desired physical reaction to him as a leader. 

Frenchfries, meet forehead. No, actually, Edelgard’s design is really fantastic. Claude and Dimitri both have realistically colored eyes and hair and then there’s Edelgard. Dimitri shrugs off attention physically and Claude shirks it with a wink but Edelgard commands the players attention from the very start. Although I’m sure there’s a lot of things to associate with white hair and purple eyes, my first thought was Daenerys from Game of Thrones. Otherworldly beautiful by with an edge. Red, of course, is The power color. Strong emotions, love and hate. Red is also associated strongly with blood, which is very important to Edelgard’s plot. Granted, I think the red and black association is even more powerful than JUST red and red is the cheapest play to make in regards to displaying villainy (I mean, there are some pretty universally recognized associations with red and black and it led to people making some unfair comparisons between Edelgard and a famous dictator) but I think it was effective and well used and I genuinely enjoy its use in her case. Anyway, if I had a major complaint about her design it would be the weird ashy color of her hair whereas Lysithea’s hair is pure white. Which doesn’t even matter with the AMAZING hair horns. Ram horns can actually symbolize quite a few things, but their association with power and strength is pretty universal I think. They’re also used in demonic imagery. I love that THIS was her alternative to a crown. Edelgard views herself as a force of war and power before she thinks of herself as royalty. She also mentions that she isn’t super vain, but she loves to do her hair, so the hair being the most elaborate part of her look is entirely in-character. Edelgard’s ensemble is, like Claude, very militaristic. I love that they kept her in a dress that embraces femininity without showing skin as that wouldn’t really suit her Also, again, Edelgard demands your attention. She’s dressed all in bright bright red waving around a giant axe. She is a symbol as much as she is a combatant, someone to follow. I didn’t really mention their secondary lord costumes, but a girl in sexy armor is literally everything and I love that they had the balls to put their main sexy waifu girl in full body armor.

Okay I’m sorry I realize this was excessive and probably didn’t need explaining and I’m not sure I even articulated my thoughts properly but anyway I love their designs so here is the positivity I’ll put into the world.

Hello! I've been reading your fics for a while now and have loved all of em'

Are there any other shows/games you've thought about writing for other than Deltarune/ducktales/ladybug?

Wow, I’m always really impressed when someone follows me across multiple fandoms. That’s some dedication.

Obviously the other big one aside from those three would be Splatoon, but I mean I’ve dabbled in a bunch of one-shots for various fandoms over the years (Celeste, TAWOG, TUA, Hiveswap…) I’ve also started projects for Outer Wilds and Hilda but those never got past drafting.

As for the future, it’s really hard to say! Usually it’s just whatever fandom comes along with fanfic potential while I’m already losing steam on my previous fandom. Though, I very much expect that I’ll be sticking with Deltarune for at least another year or so — depending on how soon future chapters release, I could see myself writing for this fandom for a good long while without getting burnt out or disinterested. All depends on how long my fixation lasts, and if my audience persists. If my deltarune stuff keeps bringing in as many comments as it does now, it’ll be hard for another fandom to pull me away. But you never know! Sometimes inspiration strikes. I already have plans for another long-form suselle fic after DCT, though, and at least two more side-fics for Deltarune, so I’m probably riding this ship for a long while more.

Also like everyone else, WoL/Hythlo/Emet, or any combination there of?? also seatedsacrifice has made me a big fan of elidibis/wol when I had never considered it before :) OPINION ON TRUE LOVE:  Amara doesn’t really believe in it. She kind of believes there are multiple soulmates for everyone and it’s more about when and where you line up. (I do have certain rps with certain individuals where soul mates are a thing we’re playing with. Both the canon timeline, ancient, and aus. But obviously this isn’t true outside of stuff with souls-of-arcadia ahsdjkas.) OPINIONS ON LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT: She believes in lust at first sight...Which is something she experiences fairly frequently. she’s quite open with her physical desires towards others. Ceres was also this way. rhea was much more discreet with her affections, but she was always content to jump into physical things before allowing someone to gain access to her heart. HOW ROMANTIC ARE THEY?: Mixed bag. She can be exceptionally romantic when she wants to be and the inspiration is sparked within her. Generally though, she is very physically affectionate, which is how she shows her love. Her other thing is trying to get thoughtful gifts, but that can also be hit or miss. She tries, truly. Ceres was more romantic when she was alive and enjoyed very traditional things like flowers, being the one to sew her partners clothes, cooking meals together, etc. Rhea was hopelessly romantic but didn't get to indulge in it as often as she would have liked. IDEAL PHYSICAL TRAITS: Taller than her. Conventionally attractive??? Though that’s also a guess since that can be up to interpretation. She does gravitate towards dark hair.  IDEAL PERSONALITY TRAITS: Stubborn. Egotistical. Manipulative. Intelligent. Sly. Confident. Loyal. Dependable. Passionate. UNATTRACTIVE PERSONALITY TRAITS: I - *makes face* *gestures wildly and shrugs* Her attention gets caught by physical appearance and stays depending on how someone treats her specifically. As long as someone treats her halfway decently, gives her a ton of attention, and doesn’t cross her own personal moral lines, she’ll usually look the other way of less than ideal traits. IDEAL DATE: She has two though they’re really variations of one another. The first would be someone cooking her a really lovely meal (or taking her out for food), giving her a massage or bathing with her and cuddling. Lots of skin on skin it makes her happy. The other would be going out for a picnic in a really beautiful but secluded area and just gazing up at the sky and talking or going swimming together. DO THEY HAVE A TYPE?: Bad for Her (TM). AVERAGE RELATIONSHIP LENGTH:  UH she wants to be with someone forever once she actually falls in love with them. But she generally has not been in a long term relationship before. A director's cut for All Over A Bowl? Also ⭐️⭐️

All Over A Bowl, like a lot of my fics, just kinda came out of the blue? I wanted to do something emotional with Tontu, since I feel like we don't really see that side of him all that much, and I tend to headcanon he's more emotionally constipated and used to bottling things up than constantly indifferent to everything.

I changed my mind on exactly what the incident would be a couple of times, before settling on him smashing Johanna's favourite bowl. That idea was obviously based on the line from Stone Forest about him doing the same and hiding the evidence (which IMO confirmed that he's really afraid of upsetting Johanna); my thought was this fic could be canon-compliant, but I personally like to think it replaces that incident so there's no Stone Forest in this AU (and we never get S2 Johanna so it can't happen anyway).

I am really happy with the ending of this one, and specifically the idea of Tontu hanging out on Johanna's shoulders. I doubt he's used to positive contact, at least not since leaving his family to make his own way, so I thought that it would be a really nice step for him. That, and I find the mental image funny.

⭐️ - The Ones Left Behind:

“I don’t want you to,” she replied, forcing the words out as a dark realisation gripped her mind. “I need you to! I know I don’t deserve you two; I don’t deserve to be let back in like this. I need you to tell me that, okay?”

Frida recoiled like she’d been struck, her hands hesitating in the empty space between her. She sniffled, fighting back more tears of her own. But Hilda’s horrible feelings only grew at that, at the sight of her best friend so deeply hurt. That was all her fault, and she knew it.

“I was a terrible friend!” she went on, everything giving way at once. “I dragged you and Da-, and Lucy into danger over and over! You only became a witch because of me, and if you hadn’t, then… then you wouldn’t have been kicked out.” She clenched her eyes shut. “And if… if, if I can just come back, and everyone’s happy and nobody wanted me gone, then that means I never should have left and the whole of last year was just hurt for nothing!”

I want to bring up this bit because I can finally talk about its inspiration! It took me a while to come out with this fic because I struggled to get Hilda's feelings right, and it was actually a story by a really good friend of mine that I'm beta-reading that managed to get the right feeling down; Home Means Nevada by @daringdanger (just to warn, while there's only one chapter up right now and it's a really good story, it does get heavier than anything I've ever written and is rated M for a reason - please stay safe :))). The protagonist of that, DD, has a lot of similar emotions to what I wanted Hilda to feel and she directly inspired how I wrote this fic :))

But that wasn’t what made Johanna stop; it was the knife in her jittering hand, a small one with a black handle and the very end of the blade chipped off, one which Johanna had been missing for weeks.

This small detail is the only real-life detail in that entire fic; if you couldn't tell, I actually own that exact knife, but I've never used it for anything bad. It's actually my favourite kitchen knife cause it's the one I use to cut cucumber every lunch time. I thought describing the blade in the fic would make things seem more real, so I just grabbed the description of one I knew.

what would it be like if the 3 lords switched retainers with say edelgard getting hilda , dimitri getting hubert and claude getting dedue or edelgard getting dedue, dimitri hilda , and claude hubert

Hilda really doesn't vibe with Edelgard, and Hubert seems to think pretty lowly of Dimitri, so I don't see those combos working at all.

Hubert would prolly consider Dimitri a fool. He'd act all polite and servile up front but I think Hubert is very much capable of flat out backstabbing a ruler he doesn't actually respect. Hilda meanwhile has no interest in dying for the greater good (unless she really likes you personally) & outright says she'd never bend the knee to Edelgard.

As for Dedue, Claude would probably be the worst combo because Dedue cares a lot about reputation & honor while Claude deliberately cultivates a shady one & uses sneak tactics, but it would go way better than the above two combos because on the other hand Dedue IS the type to stick it out/stay loyal despite having reservation, so he'd probably stick around long enough to learn of Claude's heroic intentions, & at this point we'd actually get fruitful cooperation, since Dedue would obviously be all for getting rid of discrimination. Also, both do appreciate the little things in life even if Dedue is more down to earth while Claude is very lofty in his thoughts. Maybe they could complement each other actually.

Edelgard & Dedue I can see working just fine, I can't see obvious clashes. She'd probably try to inspire him to look at his own development & be uncomfortable with him being overly deferential/ tell him not to do that more or less like she does in Hubert's support chain.

Same for Hilda & Dimitri, since she rly values empathy & compassion as a trait. & maybe she could get him to loosen up a bit & not overwork himself.

I once read this really cute fic where she is able to help him with his clumsiness problem since she also has a super strenght crest. Also they would both conspire to make sure Marianne gets her 8 hours of sleep.

Hubert and Claude would be really be fun/interesting, especially since both started out dismissing the other but then after they fight come to actually respect the other. So it would be cool if they'd known more about each other from the start. They'd have some dissagreements for sure - Hubert is generally a bit more callous - but there's also a big pile of similarities.
