A serious conversation is needed on why a show in 2024, with a cast full of queer actors, there is a huge problem of queerphobia. From queerbaiting to queer characters being erased, queer relationships being erased, trans leads being sidelined and transphobes hired on the show.

And a more widespread and active conversation bc people have been talking really since the show came out. I think there's a lot more viewers and more viewers espying the discrepancies and that awful actor I can't remember the name of is is at Rhaenyra's council that's waking up more talkers.

There's just so much to hate about this show...why do you erase an actual queer suggestive coupling b/t Sabitha and Black Aly if you did Rhaenicent and thought this ship was so "feminist" or woman-central? Wouldn't you want more like these, Sara Hess?! Or is that not marketably "cool", to "repeat" yourself? Maybe she was outvoted, idk.

Do everything your father says and wishes you to do

If a man forced you into marriage, raped you, and then ignored you and your children, you have to be grateful and kind to him, praise him after his death and fullfil every wish he ever had, even if it at the expense of your or your family's well-being. If you don't do this, you are the worst kind of human being

Be ok with your husband cheating on you

Black female characters are interchangeable

If you grandpa offers you a position of power, you should reject it and simply be a man's wife

Delete or minimize the screentime for female characters who make a pedophile look like a bad person

A woman should not mourn her children. Moreover, she should help the man who ordered the killing of her children

Any lesbian/bisexual women who is not a white Targaryen princess should not have much screen time or even exist in the story

Y'all, where is Alysanne "Black Aly" Blackwood, who slew Ser Amos Bracken with a weirwood arrow during the battle of the Burning Mill and commanded three hundred archers of the riverlands? Where is the Lady Sabitha Frey, "who would sooner ride than dance, wore mail instead of silk, and was fond of killing men and kissing women"? The two shared a tent during the campaign but I doubt we'll see that

We saw the Lady Jeyne Arryn, but got no mention to the fact that she was rumored to prefer women. Where is Jeyne's dear companion Jessamyn Redfort and didn't one the few female rulers in westerosi history say her iconic line "In this world of men, we women must band together"?

They're erasing our sapphics and I won't stand for it

Okay, so it seems that all of the queer characters from Fire and Blood have been cut?

Black Aly has been cut. Sabitha Frey will show up but it's kind of obvious she won't be queer. (Black Aly could still show up later, but that relationship is still gone.)

It's being heavily rumored that the brothel madam will take the place of Sylvenna - her call sheet name is listed as "Sylvie". And then it's being rumored that Dyana will replace Essie, and she and Sylvie are going to have a mother/daughter relationship.

AND Cregan and Jace's very homoerotic friendship was taken out, and Cregan reduced to 3 minutes.

Explain this to me, Ryan and Sara. Explain this to me.

Not adapting Alysanne Blackwood and Benjicot Blackwood but making up extended scenes for Gwayne Hightower, who gets mentioned a grand total of 4 times in the book, is certainly a choice.

Gwayne only exists so Daemon’s fangirl could kill him and say that iconic line “Daemon gave us these cloaks and they’re gold no matter how you turn them.”

I saw a clip of him speaking to Cole, saying something along the lines of he's "something worse than afraid, he's rational". This is the same dude who I think Luthor Largent stabs in the gut and has one line in the book. I forget. anyway, they seem to try to make him the light of rationality tragically blown away to soon, almost like Rhaenys but more obviously pathetic as more fans swoon over this actor i forget the name of and build a fanbase for, thus getting them more views.

Oh well, that hole they dug must be on the way to the center of the Earth soon. Let them go on and burn.

But what a waste of a fine-enough/fine looking man like that guy who everyone wanted to play Benji. And Black Aly's iconic bow and arrow, long curly mass of hair....oh, the horror.
