Nowadays I mostly stick to 1-2 books at a time, and if I have more than one it's like, one is an audiobook and one is an ebook or something of that nature, but when I was a kid. Man. I had like 6 books going at a time. A couple beside the bed, a couple in my backpack, a few on my desk at school, so I had different options for different locations. I still usually stuck to 1 or 2 as my primary reads that would travel between locations, but it felt so important to have backups. What if a character was being really annoying and I needed a break? What if I wasn't in a pirate mood? What if I was just really excited about the newly acquired book and wanted to just give it a chapter? You'd think I would have had trouble finishing books but that couldn't be further from the truth. Some I worked my way through slowly, snatching a few chapters between other reads as they sat on my desk for 4 months, but for the most part the stacks were always turning over. Those were the days.

Nothing quite like listening to the Nona the Ninth audiobook while working in a public ceramics studio, and getting to the Paul chapter. And then you have to just sit there like you’re not listening to the most heart wrenching story ever so you don’t just start sobbing in a room full of strangers

despite my best attempts i can't get into any of the chapter-a-day newsletter book clubs. i love and support them but something about dracula daily being THIS IS THE DAY IT HAPPENED is key to my enjoyment. i need my dates textual. i need the fucked-up pacing of some days nothing, some days thirty seconds, other days two hours. if it's a chapter a day i just get impatient and read the book normally. i need dates to tell me that, no... i can't find out what happened yet. i have to wait until october third. for causality reasons. it's the law.

I read this book earlier this year. It was cute. It draws a lot of parallels to the USWNT & NWSL. What’s been happening in the league the last few years. This has the potential to be so good if they can get it done right!
Some other wlw spot romance books I’d like to see them adapt:
-How You Get The Girl-Anita Kelly 🏀 (Julie Parker is me, I am her, but I’m also Elle.)
-Hot shot-Clare Lydon 🇺🇸⚽️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
-Catch-Kris Bryant 🏈
If you like YA/High School settings…Home Field Advantage and She Drives Me Crazy are good too, but def for more YA.

I promise I won’t make a habit for posting on Sundays…it’s just…it’s the Daroga’s fault. His home is so hard to draw :,{
I thought I’d include some details from the last update as well as my laundromat concept sketch for this room below…

Thanks to a rec from @lizardberriesI'm reading (well, listening to) Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, the dude who wrote The Martian, and FUCK ME, Y'ALL. IT'S SO GOOD I think I might even like it better than The Martian so far??? If you like science and/or sci-fi, go check it out

not pictured: breathless by kitty tsui, s/he by minnie bruce pratt, stone butch blues by leslie feinberg, miss major speaks, the persistent desire. most of these i've picked up on and off since june, since most of them are anthologies & i was rereading SBB.
stand out books for me this year were fluids, to be devoured, and minor detail.
fluids & to be devoured hugely inspired me, they kicked off me getting back into reading in general and inspired a lot of my personal writing this year.
otherwise im kinda disappointed in most of the books here... this was my first year really reading this much in a long, long time, and most of what i read were novellas. and i stepped into a new genre, so i was really feeling things out and trying to find my niche. i'm hoping i'll be able to branch out some more with all of the new authors i've been eyeing and i'll find something that will really stick with me.
