i'm aware that due to luffy's more cheerful personality and looks, a lot of people might find it weird to picture him in sexual situations. especially since most of us see him as aroace (as if aroace people couldn't have sex or be in love but, y'know, that's for another time) and it's completely understandable to not feel comfortable around sexual stuff if you don't like it with this specific character. however, being uncomfortable around that type of content and infantilizing luffy's character to the point that you consider it problematic or wrong to put him in romantic/sexual situations is too much and you should let people enjoy characters however the fuck they want. if you don't like something just scroll and ignore it, but don't try to make everyone follow your own moral compass and likes because we're all different and luffy is just a fictional character.
people often forget he's the captain of a pirate crew. he's mature and has critical thinking and if seeing a cheerful/cute character instantly makes you assume he deserves to be "protected" from sex/romance, you are: infantilizing his personality (that may or may not be neurodivergent coded, but that's another story), villainizing sex and romance instead of just seeing those as something you don't personally enjoy but should let other people consume, and using being aroace as a shield from the real world and a stereotype instead of actually being inclusive and truly seeing him as aroaspec. friendly reminder that aroaspec people can have sex and be in romantic relationships because it's a spectrum. that's the whole thing about it. it's understandable to not be comfortable around sexual situations with a character you don't perceive as sexually active, but that doesn't mean it's wrong to write him that way. let people do whatever they want with their idea of luffy and have fun!

people can keep coming up with angsty headcanons about why qPac passes out (crashes) so much- like he's got low blood pressure from not eating properly or he's exhausted from not sleeping properly- and I accept that
but to me he's just that one character in a kids movie that keeps getting injured as a gag. like he's just constantly tripping over roots and whacking his head off the ground, birds just constantly seem to drop rocks specifically on his head, people just keep inexplicably slamming doors into his face without realising it. qPac is just such a cartoon character to me I'm sorry

Amazing how the MCU, like, based most of their marketing of the Loki series on the Sylki romance, centered season 1 on it, drew in & engaged us shippers and romance fans, just to tell us "romance isn't the main important thing in the story", I- 🔪

"Ned doesn't know how to talk with Sansa" Okay but like…where though? Where is it actually anywhere in the books that Ned has trouble speaking with Sansa? Or that he doesn't know how to handle her or "what to do" with her? The conflict people try and invent between them is just so...forced. I wish people would just let it go and stop trying.

Back to watching Elementary again, another aspect of the show I enjoy is Sherlock’s open adoration and appreciation of Watson both as a person and a fellow detective. I think that’s something that has been lost in a lot of Holmes adaptions - started mainly by the Basil Rathbone/Nigel Bruce movies - of Watson being a comedic foil to Holmes, an inept bungler that Sherlock puts up with.
I feel like even in adaptions that have Holmes/Watson having a good relationship, there is this sense of exasperation coming from Holmes about some of Watson’s behaviors (BBC and RDJ come to mind). In Elementary, once Sherlock accepts and embraces his love for Watson, he never really backs down from it. We rarely see him frustrated with her, and if so it’s because of her actions not personality clashes. He knows he’s weird and obnoxious and adapts to Watson’s habits without making a big eye rolling deal out of it.

actually. the specific phrasing that boy Kevin wants to kill older Kevin with "I must disassemble him, piece by piece, so that everything inside of the Old Kevin comes out. Only then can the New Kevin truly begin." is so incredibly the idea that to heal from trauma and "improve" you have to destroy every "wrong" part of yourself, that everything "tainted" by it has to somehow be replaced by something untouched (which isn't possible)
#reading back that phrasing I do think that'll be the way brinknor takes it#this arcs seeming like it'll be so. breaking the cycle of abuse and violence and coming to terms with yourself#and maybe understanding that you can never remove the parts of you impacted by trauma and start again completely ''pure''#but you can treat yourself with the kindness you should've been given#which i hope it is that because. and understand i am biased. but i'd love that direction for Kevin#it feels much more satisfying than any more. angsty way this arc could go imo#like he's been through enough!#because of the way Kevin is portrayed in fanon. not as frequently anymore but still pretty common. I worry about coming off as woobifying#by saying I want him to heal I want him to have nice things I think he deserves them#when he's also simultaneously Not A Good Person#yknow the poor little innocent cinnamon roll baby etc etc fanon#but. well for one im Not Like That about him. but my main point of bringing that up is. him not being a good person is why I want to see hi#get better and generally have a good life. why does someone have to be good to deserve to heal from trauma#especially when trauma is a big reason for the way they are#like its fiction yeah yeah i'm still tired of mentally ill people having to be ''good'' to ''deserve'' to get better yknow#i mean especially in fiction you tend to either see mental illness as the poor traumatized one who's allowed recovery because they're nice#or the insane psychopath who cant be ''fixed'' so ''deserves'' bad things-up to deserving to die!- for it#i didnt mean for this to be a rant erm. oops#wtnv#wtnv spoilers#joyousposting

I guess I just...I know there's a lot in our history that we've done wrong, but is wanting to be proud of my culture really so much to ask? To say who I am in public without being treated like an object of pity for how I grew up? i'm terrified to tell my friends what I believe in case they reject me over stereotypes. the catholics think we're not Christians, the liberals think we want gay people dead, my brother's best friend moved to evangelical country and started talking like we were monsters, and I can't even find solidarity within the church because everybody's too busy trying to assimilate with people who want us dead.

just seen a post by a pre-op pre-hormones pre-everything trans woman complaining about ~evil cis bitches~ crossing the road at night when they see her and i was so so so certain it was a troll/fakepost/terf shitposting/etc but it was legit and all her friends were agreeing with her, and i'm like??? this is why cis women hate us lmao, you can't get mad if you're pre-everything and it's night time and a woman assumes you're a creep in the dark. why are the worst voices always the loudest
Why did you think this was appropriate to have sent to me instead of just... blocking her and moving on? Out of all the reasons I can think of for people to be transphobic, the thought of a trans woman being upset about feeling like she's treated like a perpetrator of a crime she isn't committing or thinking about committing doesn't cross my mind. Maybe she didn't express that frustration in a way you approve of (probably because you weren't what she was thinking about, she was probably thinking about how she was feeling), but that's where blocking her comes into play. You aren't required to view that person's post or entertain their friends, nor are you required to come into a stranger's inbox to vent about it. You don't have to dedicate time to that.
Oddly enough, I don't trust that you aren't a troll trying to stoke fires, especially through anon.

Cishet men are so intimidated by female sexuality, it's honestly so pathetic and sad. Come to think of it, they're intimidated by ANYTHING remotely womanly or feminine.

I know some people were caught off guard by Q!Cellbit's big reveal, but just a friendly reminder that he's not the only genius among the Brazilians, those guys ar ALL incredibly smart, it just doesn't seem like it because they're also huge dumbasses (affectionate).
QSMP spoilers below (tho they're more my reading of events than 100% facts and I'm really biased)
Forever knows Cellbit's whole federation loving bullshit is a con, he knew from day one, he can't prove it, but he mentioned it as a likely possibility multiple times, he's not mad at Cellbit for joining the federation, he's mad at Cellbit because he's being a jerk about it and threatening to change Richarlyson's custody agreement, he knows it's a con, but he's smart enough to be prepared for the off chance it isn't, and even when the truth gets revealed it doesn't mean all the hurtful things Cellbit said will be forgiven.
I'll be honest I don't watch Tazercraft that often, but on the first five minutes I tapped into their streams I heard Mike saying that this all must be a plan, them and Cellbit go way back, and while part of it might be wishful thinking they know this is not Cellbit the conspiracy maniac who was completely against the federation, they know there must be something else there, they considered the possibility of him going crazy, but they're also considering the idea of it all being planned.
Cellbit thinks he fooled everyone, but his friends saw through him almost immediately, they're pissed at him not because of the betrayal, but because he's being a jerk, they don't trust him enough to be certain of the whole infiltration plan, they're definitely wary of him, but it's less because they think he's a threat and more because they're afraid that whatever plan he has might backfire badly and he decided to bet on too high stakes in line without letting anyone else in.

RANT
I'm having a hard time understanding why so many people choose to ignore what El has been through in S4, what I mean is by changing the context of the scenes to make it about something entirely irrelevant.
The whole El not talking to Mike after the whole aftermath is so dumb and ignorant. It generally annoys me, This is constantly brought up to boost a ship btw. I've seen this conversation being brought up on Tiktok so many times that it is generally concerning, like do y'all not see how weird it is????
It's actually sad really.
First of all she pretty much lost a fight to Vecna. She witnessed her best friend die before her eyes, she had gone home to Hawkins. Which btw is on the verge of collapsing in on itself, had to return to the cabin she had lived in for the past two years of her life with Hopper. Since the government still WANTS her dead/contained btw.
Keep in mind it has technically only been a year since Hopper had "passed" so she was still grieving.
She feels a huge amount of guilt and thinks it was a mistake for trying to stop Vecna, because her abuser who she thought was dead for 3 years was still alive. Brenner tried to make her believe she was not capable enough to stop Vecna and even attempted to manipulate her again.
Like I think it is a pretty normal reaction to ignore everyone after going through something like that. Or at least not be so talkative, that wasn't the only thing El went through in S4 btw. That was just the tip of the ice berg.
Mike telling El that he loves her was not the reason why she ignored him, in fact the monologue is the reason why El and Max are still breathing. The scripts prove all of it, I don't understand why it is so hard to accept the fact that Mike loves El.
I don't understand why you even want Mike to lie to El to begin with, him lying to El doesn't make his whole character redeemable or likeable again. It makes him a shitty person actually, if you understand El's character you would know she would be heartbroken. Saying she wouldn't is such an out of character thing, Mike is a huge part of her life. I'm not saying this because I ship Mileven, it's just canon, it's not something you can ignore.
Y'all can ship whatever you want but to try and say that El would be okay with the idea of Mike lying to her and then hooking up with her brother is insane. Just say Mileven isn't for you and go along with your day, instead of making her PTSD/trauma about Will and Mike relationship 👍🏻

Can we please stop making fun of the looks of trans people within the damn trans community? Can we stop telling trans men that testosterone turns us into the ugliest things on Earth and trans women that they're nothing if they don't uphold the incredibly high standard of femininity? Can we stop holding enby people up to a scale depending on their agab to see if their gender expression is Correct Enough to be trans enough?
Can we stop shitting on fat trans people?
Please? It's not like the cis people are going to do it for us, and I'm tired of being treated like my body is barely even tolerable and much less something to be celebrated.

i think it's sad how little empathy kids tend to have these days. the other day, i was walking down a flight of stairs at my school when a random 11-year-old boy tapped my arm and asked "are you gay?". now, i thought he was saying "are you okay", and nodded (nothing wrong with being gay! i'm just not one to tell my sexuality to random kids who interrogate me). then, he began hollering the f-slur and yelling that everyone should get away from me. it's sad that literal children are so used to throwing around language like that and making jokes out of what is just plain hate speech. we're all human beings. i don't see why differences like that should matter.

Because the thing is, I am very good at being my own chisel and hammer. I can thrust myself into the fires and strike while my metal is hot; I have been forcibly molding, shaping, enduring my entire life. I can conform to fit. I can make myself to your liking.
But answer me this: why would I want to?
If bonds are meant to strengthen, why should I make myself less for anyone? Why should I contort and bend to breaking? It's reflexive, a learned response: blend in, behave, stay alive, a neural pathway carved like a stream cutting through stone.
I require gentle, calloused hands to tame the feral creature of my psyche. This is not a request. It cowers from each approach, and a tamed thing will still flee a perceived threat. Am I tiring? Am I tedious? Am I too much? Then perhaps I am not for you. Better solitude than the constant heat of the forge. These days, I know how to set down my hammer and rest.

unpopular opinion but saying that ace/aro people don’t belong in lgbt is such a bad take like??? ace and aro is a spectrum and is experienced differently with various frequencies and shunning them from lgbt spaces because “they don’t do xyz thing” completely contradicts what lgbt spaces represent: openness, community and acceptance
