The funny thing about the PJO cabin system is that everyone's always all 'oh the twelve' this and 'the twelve' that but that's absolutely not even remotely accurate. To start, right off the bat it's thirteen, not twelve, because they don't count Hades. But not really because before Percy, there were no big three kids, so we're down to ten active cabins already but it's actually eight because Artemis and Hera don't make demigods.
And of those eight, Mr. D is stuck at camp (thus not really making new demigods all that often) and his only two kids don't even sleep in a cabin, they sleep in the Big House with him.
So, pre-Percy, there are seven active cabins at Camp Half-Blood:
Glee club, the Jocks, the Nerds, the Geeks, the Farmers, the 'Sketchy Kids' and the Popular Kids.
Or, in other words, the Apollo, Ares, Athena, Hephaestus, Demeter, Hermes (and the unclaimed kids) and Aphrodite cabins.
What's cool is that you can already see the cabin dynamics in the show. For example, the Athena cabin allies with the Hermes cabin for the numbers. The Hermes kids plus all the unclaimed kids? It's the biggest cabin in the camp by far. It's a battle strategy. Luke and Annabeth's close relationship is just the cherry on top for Annabeth. It'll be really cool to see how the show develops the differences in the cabins during the series.

Athena with odysseus: surprise attacking odysseus and bodily slamming him to palace walls (for awareness training). Randomly kidnapping him from the palace to drop him in the woods (or the ocean or on two memorable occasions on a completely different island) (survival training), using her full strength in sparing matches (odysseus has many broken bones) dragging him up by his wrist so they're face to face. Not being careful with how often she uses quick thought or any of her other powers (what? He seems fine. She's sure odysseus has always been a freak it's definitely not brain damage it's/fine/hes /fine)
Athena with telemachus, after she accidentally knocked him out once: right right odysseus and penelope taught me how to do this when they had me babysit you. Gotta be gentle so so gentle. Gotta support the head gotta craddle humans not yank them up by the wrist (she knew odysseus was a freak why didn't he say anything??) Can't just funnel her full power into the kid gotta be so gentle.

My favourite part of the whole saga was , when in the amazing animatic made by @mircsy Telemachus tries (try is the key word here ) to lean his against Athena's shoulder, after they just had a heart to heart , and just straight up falls , coz she is in her spiritual form , and then she just stares at him :)

big idea!!! what if instead of annabeth falling off the cliff with the manticore!! the manticore drags her to the edge of the cliff so it doesn't fall alone!! and percy sees what's happening!! and wills a nearby water source to take hold of her hand!! because he wants to prove himself as a big three kid!! but the water does not catch her in time!! and percy has to watch annabeth fall into what looks like a dark and bottomless pit!!!

Redraw of Athena P’s thumbnail for her Wordgirl Lore video…because the video itself is what actually pushed me to watch the show, so Wordgirl: Rewired (that’s our fanmade reboot, you should watch it, Episode 2 just came out-) is entirely her fault. That’s how it works. I don’t make the rules.
We love Athena P in this household and you should go subscribe to her. Not that she needs my shout-out (because everyone in this fandom has seen her Wordgirl video) but you still should.

Also I did not draw the logo because I have done it before and it hurts me :(

To me, children of Zeus are natural strategists in the same way children of Athena are. But the difference is that Zeus and his kids have multiple plans and contingencies if a plan fails at a certain point and needs to shift gears. So like they employ Plan A and get all the way to stage four of the plan when suddenly there's a deviation from expectations for whatever reason. So they shift gears from Plan A1 to Plan A2, which accounted for this deviation and continue on.
Athena and her kids, however, come up with one solid, somewhat broader plan and refuse to deviate from it at all unless there is literally no other choice, in which case they will improvise quickly and efficiently to accomodate the change and get back on track to the original plan.
#happy talks pjo#happy talks greek mythos#jason in the corner coming up with extremely detailed solutions to unexpected possibilities mapping out every stage and everyone's roles#annabeth is just you're gonna go fight this guy and you're gonna fight that guy and we're gonna try to get this thing and that's the plan#she can be detail oriented when the time calls for it (re: architecture) but she knows that life is unpredictable#so keeping plans broader to account for possible deviations while still being successful is more important in a battle#than you know whatever jason's doing#this is fully based off my hc of pre-war paranoid anxiety fulled baby zeus spending too much time at the whiteboard#and now he has over a hundred different plans of attack with multiple contingencies for possible deviations#and yes he wants his freshly vomited siblings to memorize every single one (they do not. he hates it)#jason grace#annabeth chase#zeus#athena#i guess one way to look at it as well is that athena and her kids pride themselves on their intelligence#so whatever plan they come up with is The Plan and that's why they try to shift any deviation back to The Plan#they are stubborn about their intelligence and planning for contingencies feels like they are telling people they are unconfident about it#where zeus and his kids understand that you have to account for unexpected changes that throw the plan off course#trying to get back to the original plan will be difficult and sometimes impossible so its better to move with it#so accounting for possible deviations (eg. betrayals or a change in schedule and so on) is important to achieving the main goal

Okay but......... imagine if Luke reincarnates as a demigod child of Nemesis.
And he actually has a fairly decent home life and manages to get to camp safely.
So suddenly Annabeth is confronted with a child with hauntingly familiar eyes, a strong sense for justice-
-and also an abnormal interest in anything concerning revolts or revolutions against unjust systems.

Athena Cykes is my favorite part of Dual Destinies at the moment. I adore her theme. It reminds me a lot of magical girls which I can definitely see reflected in some of her concept designs. I also enjoy how she started psycho analyzing Apollo out of nowhere. That was funny. She's easily my favorite character in this weird mirror world.

LISTEN I hope telemachus tries to lean on Athena every single time she shows up. It NEVER works. but he still tries. Because he loves her.

Imagine being AroAce, and then you have a great intellectual talk and Relationship with Athena then BOOM she turns up one day and be like, you have a Demigod kid
Edit:
"Mommy/Daddy, how was I born?"
"Uhhhhhm I found you under an Olive tree"
Athena doesn't pay Child Support, never visit, probably doesn't tell them on the monsters and how to deal with them and loads of crap

I enjoy the pjo show far, for many reasons, but I also have some criticism here and there. One being is the portrayal of the gods, or more so Athena and her relationship with Annabeth. Mainly because it feels like it's moving pretty fast given the storyline like Annabeth viewing her mother on such a high pedestal only for her mom to allow a monster into her temple just because her daughter was associated with some level of embarrassment toward her, something of which gives more levels of occurring in MOA era than TLT era.
