so bc they're on my brain and the amount of people acting like clarisse should be hated on the same level as luke is making me go feral so hcs about one of my favorite girls and her annoying brother percy <3

she and percy's names in each other's phones are "rissy" and "prissy" and they absolutely refuse to tell that to anyone

the only time people find out about the nicknames is post-blood of olympus when the head counselors meet with the camp jupiter senate and they go off in private and percy just grins at clarisse and says "hey rissy" and it's one of the only times anyone ever sees her truly cry and they have a teary reunion where they're definitely hugging each other way too tight

clarisse definitely gets closer with sally and paul when percy disappears. she visits more, and even spends the weekends there if she's having a bad time. she also bonds more with annabeth during that time too

post-chariot quest percy and clarisse check in on each other a little more. for them, it's in the form of sparring, so people think they're back to their rivalry, but they're really just having the time of their lives, laughing and grinning at each other

they have a heart-to-heart in the time between battle of the labyrinth and last olympian, where clarisse genuinely apologizes to percy, and they have a talk about everything percy's ever overheard, everything that happened with chris, with ares, with gabe, end it's very very healing for both of them

honestly that's the point where they start to see each other as siblings. percy brings clarisse back to the apartment, and sally and paul immediately just fall in love with her and are ready to adopt her then and there

clarisse and grover are the next ones that sally and paul reveal the pregnancy to, and clarisse tries so hard not to freak out until sally talks about how happy she is that estelle will have two wonderful big sisters to look up to.

GOD when percy first disappears, and clarisse wakes up to the sound of annabeth screaming for her boyfriend. it's the first time since silena's death that she's felt utter and horrifying fear in her heart

clarisse is one of the main campers to go out looking for percy, to the point where she's barely at camp

they send each other the stupidest photos, like i mean the absolute ugliest photos in the entire world, and each of them has a separate folder in their camera roll for it

there's a point during heroes of olympus where clarisse starts calling sally and paul mom and dad, and when percy comes back and it happens in front of him he just gets the biggest, stupidest smile on his face before clarisse punches his arm and shoves him off his chair

clarisse and percy have weekly dinners at sally and paul's <3333 where it's just the four of them + estelle once she's born

percy, texting clarisse after living in nr for a while: "hey i'm visiting mom for the weekend do you want to get lunch"

clarisse: "i hope your bus crashes and you die in a fireball"

also clarisse: "noon @ mcdonalds tomorrow if you're late i'll have a panic attack"

annabeth and chris see their text conversations and half of it is the two of them threatening to kill the other and use every piece of blackmail they have on each other and the other half is the deepest, most emotional conversations they've ever seen

literally no one understands their friendship, the rest of the seven asks annabeth about it one evening after seeing clarisse clothesline percy and steal his food before he sits down beside her and they engage in a quiet, obviously personal coversation that ends in a tight hug and annabeth just shrugs

"Sayu will never marry a cop." Soichiro declared, his arms folded tightly against his chest as his wife hummed in approval behind him. Matsuda's gaze hurriedly met Light's, who sat on the sofa with Misa clinging onto his arm. His composure was relaxed, no visible sense of agitation to this rather tired charade the family would enact under the assumption that Matsuda's interests lay in courting their daughter.

"I haven't even asked her out yet..." Matsuda replied with a breezy laugh that accented his anxiety. Sayu stood close, smiling in a sympathetic reassurance that further contributed to his embarrassment as his fingers clawed at his knees. He wanted to rip himself apart, release something internal as a means to escape this interrogation.

"Well, I think Matsuda is cute!" Sayu chirped. Matsuda felt the heat rise to his cheeks in pure embarrassment, squirming under the weight of an unexpected compliment.

"Really? I think you are too, Sayu!" He wasn't lying – the youngest Yagami was incredibly pretty, the certain elegance to her features reminding Matsuda of her brother's graceful charms. They had both been blessed with a beauty that felt almost alien in comparison to a man like himself, painfully average and self-aware of the fact. Even had he been handsome enough for Sayu, she was far too young for him, and his priority lay elsewhere.

The priority in question spoke up suddenly, "I think it is time I escort Matsuda to the station, he will be late getting home, otherwise." Light disengaged from Misa, his gaze still trained on Matsuda as he stood up. His expression betrayed no emotion that Matsuda could discern, and he too arose from the chair he sat upon, bowing towards Mr and Mrs Yagami. With a prompting nod from Light, the two left the room, shuffling into their shoes before opening the front door to walk out onto the quiet residential street.

It was raining and Light opened up the umbrella he had grabbed on the way out, prepared as always. Matsuda shivered, huddling close to Light as he tilted the umbrella so as to cover their heads. Matsuda hadn't anticipated how dark it had now become, and the streetlights emanated golden haloes leading down the winding road towards the station. Everything had a softness to it, from the houses to the pavement kerb, the rain dampening the sharper edges. It felt like a dream.

"I'm sorry." Matsuda sighed as the two of them began to walk, his shoulders falling as he acknowledged the tension in his back. Light turned his head, raising an eyebrow in curiosity - what for? "I didn't mean to talk to your sister in that way, I guess I just panicked."

"It's best my father assumes it is Sayu that you are pursuing, just as he believes Misa and I are committed to one another. My sister would not genuinely consider you as a potential partner, rest assured." While Light had probably intended the last comment to be reassuring, it still bruised Matsuda's ego. He grabbed his chest, mouthing 'ouch' as he pretended to stumble forward. Light rolled his eyes and continued walking, prompting Matsuda to follow beside him closely. He wished he could link his arm through Light's as he had seen Misa do so many times.

"What about you, Light? Do you see me as a potential partner?" Matsuda admitted he was being a little forward, but their affair had been a rather discreet and tightly maintained thing for some months now. Light had a tendency to schedule his life strictly, with no spontaneity afforded to his daily activities, whether they be for work or pleasure. Matsuda had begged Light to come out drinking with him in the small gay bar that he frequented regularly, but Light seemed almost baffled by the prospect of a date in such a place. He was straight-edge to a fault, and no amount of light teasing from Matsuda convinced Light to break his sobriety in the promise of a good time.

Sighing, Light replied, "Matsuda, you know we can't be public about this. The circumstances we find ourselves in are not forgiving to our situation, and we must be careful to ensure that we don't risk exposing ourselves."

"But you do love me, right?"

Light stopped. The street was approaching a dead end, and the station was to the immediate left. They had little time together before Soichiro would begin growing concerned as to the amount of time Light had spent away from the family home. It had been years since L's interrogation of his son and Misa, but he still maintained some semblance of paranoia that Light was well aware of. It could turn ugly if Light allowed it to fester, and his public display of apathy towards Matsuda would hardly serve to excuse the fact that the two spent more time together than they were expected to.

"Do you need to hear me say it? You know how I feel, I shouldn't have to spell it out for you."

"I want to hear you say it." Matsuda replied, gently, "I need some validation, is that too much to ask for?" Matsuda did wonder if at times he was being ridiculous, if he should simply be grateful for Light's affections, no matter how brief and distant they seemed, and stop expecting so much from him.

The two stood beneath the umbrella, raindrops sliding down the surface. Light placed a hand beneath Matsuda's face, tilting it upwards so he could look into the other's soft brown eyes. He was one of the only men who still believed in Light's innocence, who defended him as others grew suspicious. Perhaps like many others who admired Light, it was this which attracted him, the devotion, but in Matsuda he also found a normality he had been craving. A sense of stability that, however temporary, Light desired to such an extent that he was willing to be honest for once.

"I do love you, Matsuda." Light replied before he leaned in, his lips finding Matsuda's, and he held him in the warmth of the kiss, the rain quiet and the streetlights growing dimmer, as if to afford them privacy in this intimate moment. Matsuda let out a deep exhale through his nose, his eyes closed as he allowed his hands to take hold of Light's hips. There was a humidity to the back of his neck where his collar sat, flustered by this unusual public declaration of love from Light. Matsuda already knew this would be an opportunity he might never have again with Light, and moaned softly against the other's lips in appreciation.

Indeed, Light pulled away, the chill of the evening returning as the two shifted apart, the magic of the night broken as the rain returned to its heavy fall and the streetlights once again became brighter against the blackness of the night. Matsuda trembled as he looked towards the station nearby.

"You best be going now, Matsuda." Light's hand still gripped the umbrella handle without showing any intention of walking alongside Matsuda any further to see him off. Stepping out from beneath the umbrella and into the rain, Matsuda pulled his jacket tight across his chest as he jogged to the building, making his way to the entrance before turning around to see Light had already walked away.

Matsuda knew this was the way it had to be, for Light to return to his perfectly curated world. He would return to Misa, but he and Matsuda would steal glances at one another every few moments when in the office together, careful that Soichiro didn't catch them doing so. Maybe Matsuda could anticipate a hurried embrace in the bathroom stalls if Light felt as though such an effort was possible to execute, but it would realistically be a matter of weeks before Matsuda could expect Light to pay him any meaningful attention.

Drenched, Matsuda tried not to focus on the discomfort of his wet shirt clinging to his back, frozen needles inserted across his skin. Maybe comfort was something to be earned, and he was lucky to even have Light's attention, much less his time. When the Kira case was over, he thought as he stared up at the train timetable, he and Light could be together properly. He had to hold onto that hope at the very least.

Not really… I don’t know, I feel like writing my story is my comment and the readers’ comment are their reaction to the work ? I tend to build friendships tumblr more so that ao3 (which I don’t consider to be a social media per se).

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

Heartless. It was not planned like this at all, but when it came to write it, that’s what needed to be done.

Most of my smutty oneshots I would say. It’s harder to have a happy ending when you put your characters through horrors…

Do you write crossovers?

Haven’t yet, but I’m not opposed. I love the idea of a Jayvik/Jegulus story set in Harry Potter where Jayvik from Arcane timetravel like in episode 8.  It just makes so much fucking sense. God I would like writing that so much.

Yas. Love a co-writing baby. I have co-written a few published ones, a few unpublished ones, and I am currently writing with 3 people, 4 different fics. I just love a cowrite. There’s nothing like it. With the right people, it just ✨makes sense✨.

Nothing will ever beat Naruto/Sasuke. Although BKDK is really hitting something in me as of late.

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

Echoes in Eternity. I have been toying with the idea of writing a bullet point final chapter with what I had planned. But if I do then I fully give up… and I don’t know if I am ready.

What are your writing strengths?

My singularity. I don’t write traditionally, and people either love me for it or can’t stand it. I don't mind being a divisive writer. I don’t want to appeal to everyone, but I want a few people to stumble upon my shit and I be blown away. I want everyone else to think « wtf » and click out. The more I learn, the crazier I want to experiment. 

What are your writing weaknesses?

Description of people and things. I’m into the mental a lot, and I forget to tell people where they are. How they look. Mostly because it’s something I personally don’t care for while reading

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I don’t have a real opinion. It depends on whether I feel like it’s necessary or no. But then I’m not really bothered either way.

What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?

Arcane and My Hero Academia. I wrote a really shitty mha start, but since then I had an idea so I need to rework it.

What's your favorite fic you've written?

They’re always my favourite when I’m writing them . But if I had to pick, then Heartless.  Which is also imo the most underrated one. I re-read it and I still think it slaps. It's not perfect but it's my baby. It's my fav. It's the one I would save in a fire.

I wrote it during a special time in my life and rereading it is always an emotional adventure

Just... the broken monotone voice, the delivery of it... lump in my throat every time. There are so many great quotes not just by Casey it's hard to pick one, but somehow, this one came to mind the first. This was also what partially inspired me to make a doomed self insert character.

what is the origin of your blog title: my blog title is "that's a beautiful thing to do" and it comes from the line, "you waited for me...that's a beautiful thing to do." which is in a movie called "a crime" from 2006, starring norman reedus. my blog is whatever i'm obsessed with in the moment (obvi lolol) and for a long while there i was mostly a walking dead blog and me and all my friends on here were obsessed with watching norman's absolutely bonkers filmography. anyway his character is a man called vincent, who's wife is murdered by a taxi driver (??) (it's been awhile idklol) and his neighbor is in love with him. and she waits for him ect ect. apparently i made gifs of the scene. (and good god, look at those old gifs 💀💀)

the best fic, the best vibes. the complimentary arcs. the longing gazes and heavy breathing in full view other people? when they absolutely shouldn't be longingly gazing and heavily breathing in full view of other people?? because, um, they think they're siblings?? like...these two gotta calm down, it's borderline indecent.

i've never in my life read more meta for a ship and most are just brilliant. the way that these two echo each other throughout the story (both show and book) is just stunning and, because we don't actually have them in the books, yet (george, george please) just the imagined potentials of how they might interact and grow together in the original format is just so fun. (well, tragic and trauma, but fun.)

there's more elegant and substance built things to say, but for this i'll just say: perfection. y'all know how i feel about jon and sansa.

daryl dixon x beth greene (bethyl): the foundation.

again, the walking dead was my first legit fandom hold, here on tumblr dot com. like, all of my followers came from this era lmaoo. when i say daryl and beth are the foundation, i mean, like, at one point there were six of us in this fandom. people probably existed outside of tumblr, but on this hellsite there started with six of us and i actively remember us choosing what name to go with for their ship name andfdklsgkdfljghfdk. (i did have a soft spot for deth 😂😂)

i've never been a member of team d. (but, hey, shoutout to team d! 👋🏽) but, i legitimately sobbed during her last episode. it was so out of nowhere and so poorly done and i was absolutely miserable lmaoo. and i still solidly believe that these two are soulmates and should have been the next couple on the show. and that bitch ass robert kirkman destroyed everything 😀

buffy summers x spike (spuffy): don't even get me started.

legitimately, do not get me started. these are a foundation of my soul, to be quite honest. like... i think almost my whole life? has been spent loving spike and buffy??

this dynamic is so wild and complex. buffy summers and spike, individually, are two of my favorite characters of all time. (actually all of these ships are top characters, for me, which probably shows why i've loved them for so long). i feel like spike and buffy is not a ship for the weak, like, it's not all sunshine and rainbows. there is a lot of rain. but the journey they go on from enemies, to reluctant allies, to friends, to enemies, to friends, to lovers, to enemies, to friends, to soulmates. it's a ride. it's a long ride.

and very few ships could go through this arc, especially the low points of their relationship, and come out on the other side still being evvvvvvvverything. and they are. everything.

klaus mikaelson and caroline forbes (klaroline): don't piss me off.

the vampire diaries (and the originals following right along behind it) piss me right off 😂😂😂😂

this is another perfect example of literal gold in the writers hands that was absolutely squandered. a girl who no one ever puts first and is desperate for a boy to see her and choose her -- to pick her first -- meets an over a thousand year vampire who sees her and instantly falls at her feet. gold. perfection. absolutely thrown to the side for (coughs) mediocre replacements. (i love stefan, but boy, get someone elSE!)

i'll never forget that forest scene. to both win and lose in one fell swoop 😩😩 insanity.

jess mariano and rory gilmore (literati): okay, now this? this c-sand origin story.

i could scream. i could cry. rory and jess are simultaneously the greatest thing in the world and the absolute worst. my greatest love and my greatest trauma 😭😭 they're another lifer ship, for me. but, they also suffer from one of my most hated writers paths: incredible build up and subsequent back burner.

watching the build up of their feelings for each other; from his introduction in season two, to early mid season three -- it's so well done. they're obsessed with each other!! i'm obsessed with them!!!! dean gets to suffer!!!! and then they finally get together (in an absolutely iconic episode) and the writers then regulate their entire relationship to primarily off screen interactions 🧍🏽‍♀️🧍🏽‍♀️ we are simply told they're really great together and spend all of their time together, being a good relationship. before it's decided that "actually, jess could probably lead a spin off show" and they tank the whole relationship by making him essentially stop talking to her. and they do it on screen.

when you tell us they're great for their whole relationship, but don't show us them actually dating, and then SHOW US it falling apart -- it gives the impression it was a terrible relationship the whole time and it waSN'T.

(and it's so sad, because it's her only relationship where they decide to not actually...show the....relationship, once they together. hate asp for that.)

Great question because I am VERY chattery about DA2's rivalmance system. I actually rivalmanced Fenris on my very first playthrough of DA2 last year! Here are some screenshots of me sharing my Fenrismancing with my friends:

I haven't tried to make the others as my rival/s but he was the character I was most interested in and it was a good thing I heard he was the easiest to (it's fairly easy to become his rival especially when your Hawke is a mage). So imagine my happiness when I found out I could essentially weave up an enemies-to-lovers romance with him... ���

I can kinda see why people try to avoid rivalmancing, though, because I personally couldn't imagine being mean to my favorite people too. But to me that's what I love about the friend/rival system of DA2! Your companions won't totally leave you when you have a negative reputation with them. It's very realistic that way, like IRL when you don't agree with someone but will respect their opinion. Albeit a begrudging respect. I think that this system is something that DA2 was ahead of for its time (& still is) and I wish Bioware retained something like it for their later installments. It creates this really interesting dynamic where you still care about these characters even if they (or you) are at odds sometimes and that adds SO much more depth to the interactions.

And when you romance them it's like an agree-to-disagree situation. DA2's rivalmance doesn't mean you have to treat them poorly or be a jerk for the entire game, but it does take a lot of disagreements to get there. It's a slow burn of tension that builds up into something more intimate later on (when you max or lock-in their friendship/rivalry bar, that is), and when you finally get there, the emotional payoff feels earned. And it also isn't like "you're mean to me, I'm mean to you, and then suddenly we're in love"—it's more nuanced built from moments of confrontation (i.e. those scenes when your party companions make a comment) and shared vulnerabilities during/after their companion quests.

As one comment I've read before, they fantasically put it together as:

two fundamentally different people who hate each other yet can't get enough of one another romantically.

✨ Enemies-to-lovers ✨, amirite?

So ig don't be afraid to say "no" to the DA2 squad—and besides, rivalmancing Fenris is literally hotter than the friendlymance... the hot-headed banter and seeing the emotional growth in him as you rivalmance is chef's kiss 🤭👌

i don't really use playlists! i have mood "playlists" that are a mess and a couple songs long only on my phone each, and i go through them depending on what feeling i'm trying to tap into, or i listen to That One Song when writing a fic (usually the title song, if there's one), but that's about it. and sometimes i write sweet lovey dovey sex while listening to screamo metal, so you know x)

i do love eruhan! i wrote a few fics where there's only hints of them being a thing or former thing and levihan's the real Topic, but i also posted one completely eruhan-centered fic that focuses on the ENDLESS angst potential those two have together imo.

one of my headcanons about them is that they're imperfect for each other and kinda ill-suited, in the sense that i think they highten each other's respective issues. for ex, i hc Hange thinks they love Erwin more than he loves them; thinking being the key word here, because of course Erwin loves them back just as much (in fact i hc he had a massive crush on them from day one and it took like, five years of him flirting and both Nana and Mike nudging them for Hange to realize what was going on) but he just sucks at letting himself express it and can be very cold and distant (in a totally different way from Levi's abrasive brand of caring, btw, if you were to compare them to levihan) which clashes poorly with Hange's whole-hearted and effusive nature (when they're not focusing on their research, obvi). on the other hand, i think Erwin likely tells himself he enjoys Hange's intense work ethics because he feels that allows him to detach himself from the feelings he has for them (since they're both hella busy), but i think he probably yearns to show the same kind of freedom they allow themself in how they express emotions when they do, and it takes him by surprise each time (now, whether he lets it show or not... is another story). i think he's jealous of them, in a way, of how responsibilities-free they seem (are not actually, obviously) even though he also ironically wants to be where he is, and his relationship with them's biggest flaw is how it reveals that his way of coping with his own feelings and pain in general is inefficient, painful and dangerous.

they're doomed as fuck though, i almost never hc them with a happy ending (unlike how i hc erurihan or levihan)

🧩 what will make you click away from a fanfiction immediately?

hmmm... i guess very shitty punctuation that makes it impossible to understand what's going on, completely ooc dialogue/actions that aren't put in enough context to make them believable or acceptable to me (and i'm veeeery open minded), non consensual shit that wasn't tagged appropriately.. that's all i can think of right now!

it does happen pretty often, because i like to add to my for later list every fic that fits the tags/ships i looked for that day, regardless of statistics, and that means i cast a wide net that needs reclibrating at a later date haha
