currently suffering from cordyceps brain rot so maybe this is too niche but i’m imagining a tlou x txf crossover, because like imagine. when the outbreak happens, mulder & scully would be p valuable to fedra for their knowledge in the uncanny. the fbi & txf would be subsumed into some fedra department. maybe not on the front lines, but somewhere behind the scenes. trying to figure out What Happened. scully’s medical knowledge would make her especially valuable.

but like. i can’t imagine either of them going along with fedra for very long. corrupt government? trust no one baybey. i think they would break out on their own, bonnie & clyde style, because i can’t see either of them fully trusting any revolutionaries either. until they eventually run into the fireflies, maybe marlene herself, and learn about an immune girl and the possibility for a cure. again, scully’s medical knowledge and her desire to help would be powerful motivators. but when they realize what the cost would be…i think it would be more than just joel breaking ellie out of that hospital lol

He couldn’t help himself. In spite of trying to remain walled off and apathetic, in spite of casting blame on Ellie for Tess’ death because he had to project the anger somewhere. Joel. Couldn’t. Help himself. He offered Ellie his jacket to keep her warm. He gave her the remaining morsels of his food. He just couldn’t resist. It’s that fatherly drive. It’s that urge to protect and provide. It’s that parental instinct that shifts into gear above all else because that is what he still is at his core. That is what makes up his being. A protector. A guardian. A caretaker. No matter how long he may try to beat sympathy into submission, no matter what guise of silence and deadpan demeanors he may attempt to exhibit, Joel is still holding on to his parental role with a white-knuckled grip. Maybe he thought that role was shattered 20 years ago, much like his watch which marked the death of both his daughter and parenthood, but he’s slowly putting back together the pieces. Maybe he’s not even conscious of it, but Joel is causing the watch to tick again. Unbroken

thinking back to how tess probably knew right away that meeting ellie was a critical life changing axis point for joel. that she was going to be the best or worst thing that ever happened to him since day 0 (maybe both). when he stepped in between a machine gun & ellie. beat a man unconscious to the point he might not wake up. didn’t immediately suggest killing ellie when she came back positive for the infection. the joel she knew was self-serving. cut throat and brutal. they could have found another way to get a car battery. but something fundamentally shifted in joel the moment he decided to put his life on the line for “cargo” (aka a young girl in need of protection). no wonder she wasn’t surprised when he dragged ellie out of city hall and didn’t look back

Lizzie is actually the Ocean Queen in this AU! Smalletho aint a romantic ship for me, but Jizzie sure is so it's about the only canon romantic relationship (except for cleo and etho but theyre exes anyway lmao).

She's the only god so far in bbpau that's not just... some guy i made up, so she does make much more of a character appearance than the soul god (I have an idea for a plotline including her but we will see if I'm able to start on the comics soon or not). She and Joel are husband and wife (even though i have no idea how that legally works given Joel is a pirate and Lizzie is a goddess. It probably doesnt legally work! That's okay!), and they met when Lizzie was visiting a village he stopped in in her human form. Sometimes she used to join his crew in human form for periods of time before going back to her duties as a god.

They aren't able to see each other often, but Joel makes sure to stop by her territory and say hi, tell her of all the things he's been getting up to recently, all the adventures he's been on, and all that. She's the only person he's actually close to other than Jimmy, which is funny considering most people think Etho is the 'broody loner type' but actually up until dealing with the soul god Etho had friends. Joel.... not so much (3rd life Joel i love you and cherish you forever).
