putting my prediction on record now that the coming decade is going to see the rise of viral-marketed fancy at-home water filtration systems, driving and driven by a drastic reduction in the quality of U.S. tap water (given that we are in a 'replacement era' where our current infrastructure is reaching the end of its lifespan--but isn't being replaced). also guessing that by the 2030s access to drinkable tap water will be a mainstream class issue, with low-income & unstably housed people increasingly forced to rely on expensive bottled water when they can't afford the up-front cost of at-home filtration--and with this being portrayed in media as a "moral failing" and short-sighted "choice," rather than a basic failure of our political & economic systems. really hope i'm just being alarmist, but plenty of this already happens in other countries, and the U.S. is in a state of decline, so. here's praying this post ages into irrelevance. timestamped April 2023
Thinking about the people complaining about Michael and David aging too much to play Aziraphale and Crowley in season 3 and how Michael has given more than enough hints over the past five years to indicate that he would be happy to play Aziraphale (with David as Crowley, of course) for the rest of his life...
I'm in A Mood™ (stressed) so im going back to my roots of melting two character together into one person. So bruce wayne!danny fenton. Danny Fenton who, for eight years, grew up in a beautiful gothic manor with his mom and dad under the name "Bruce Wayne". Playing piano with his mother, running around the manor with his father.
Then when he's eight it's ripped away from him. There's blood on his hands and pearls pooling at his feet, and both his parents are dead in front of him.
And he gets shipped off to distant relatives "the Fentons" shortly after, Alfred close on his heels because someone needs to take care of him, someone that knows him. Bruce goes to the Fentons for the safety of anonymity. Gotham's press wants to sink its teeth into him.
Danny misses his city even if it took everything from him. There are shadows in his eyes and he's pale as a sheet even beside his distant cousins, and they change his name to "Danny Fenton' because nobody should know that their newest child was illustrious orphan Bruce Wayne.
They call him Bruce behind closed doors. Danny prefers it that way, he clings onto the name -- the one his parents gave him -- like a lifeline. He makes friends with Sam and Tucker. Tucker takes one look at the willowy, morbid little boy standing in the corner like a shade, ghosts in his eyes, and drags him out into the sunlight, and takes him over to Sam.
When Danny is twelve, he's still not over it -- and he's a little obsessed with the Fentons' research, with the morbid. He has books upon books on death, murder, detective work. Anything he can get his hands on. And stars. He loves stars.
Alfred owns the apartment next to them and comes over regularly. Danny clings to him.
When Danny is twelve, he's still quiet, meek, a shy little thing prone to being bullied. Freaky little Fenton with the night in his eyes and too-cold skin even before he put one foot in the grave. in a sleepover in his room with Sam and Tucker, he tells them the truth. They're his friends, he trusts them.
"My name is Bruce." he murmurs, voice quiet as the breeze, always quiet. he's staring at his star-covered sheets.
"Like Bruce Wayne?" Tucker asks, a joking tone in his voice.
Danny smiles a little, lamb-like with insecurity. "I am Bruce Wayne." And he takes them down to the lab, disrupting Maddie and Jack, to prove it. Sam tells them of her own wealth then shortly after. They start calling Danny "Bruce" in private too -- its trust. Thats what it is. It's trust.
Sam goes to media functions and comes back with aching feet and complaints on her tongue -- and Danny soaks it up all like a sponge, splayed across a beanbag chair with Tucker in her room. He's not envious of her, he used to go to events with his parents and they kept him safe from the ugly of Gotham's Elite. For the most part. He's had comments made at him, he doesn't miss them.
Alfred returns to the manor semi-regularly, Danny goes with him. he wanders the hallways and helps Alfred clean, the last thing either of them want is for their home to fall into disrepair. He brings Jazz with him next time, then Tucker, then Sam. They all help him clean, and he shows them his room. The one across from his parents', it feels strange.
When Danny dies when he's fourteen, the first adult he tells is Alfred. He and Jazz go over to his house more often than they stay in the Fentonworks building. At least at Alfred's, the food doesn't come to life. Alfred sits at the kitchen table and weeps when Danny tells him, Jazz is upstairs, and its just the two of them.
Danny's ghost form wears pearls around his wrist and the gloves look stained with some kind of black substance. He looks like a child who died in a lab accident, but he also looks like a child who has shadows dripping off his shoulders, curling at his feet, hanging from his eyes.
because amorphous blob batman has my heart always and danny/bruce will not escape it even in death even if that IS the only reason im giving him Mild BatBlob Vibes...so far
when they go to the manor, alfred helps danny make a pile of stones between Martha and Thomas' graves, nobody but the two of them (and sam and tucker) will know what it means. (not even bruce's children later down the line, not for a long, long time)
danny dives into ghost fighting on shaky feet and not half as witty as he once was in one world. he's skittish, skittering between blasts from shadow to shadow and clumsily making his way through each battle. but helping people lights a fire in him. he still has shadows dripping off his feet but there's a purpose in his eyes.
I’ve read fics where the topic of marriage is something so very foreign and alien to them. They aren’t totally against it, they just don’t see it happening, or it just doesn’t roll off the tongue, much as it hurts to merely gaze at one another (an “I love you” between these fuckers can make me stop dead in my tracks) And tbh I find that really fitting for them, and strange in an endearing way. The exploration of that part of their relationship was something I didn’t know I needed. It’s like they become so much more tender and may I even say vulnerable in the face of it, to the point of them not really knowing what to do about it, which led me to recognizing that it could actually be a big deal for them and not only something that has a 50% chance of ending in disaster. I mean what is marriage if not two people being able to meet in the middle and really see each other and stay committed after that? And to witness that happening between Jack and Tyler? Truly a novelty.
i really thought ah yes another episode! more ellie and joel and zombies! and then they gave me a heartbreaking short movie about two gays finding peace & happiness as they grew old alongside one another in a world that at first made them think life was no longer worth living haha hahaha im fine! i’m fine. i’m fine
Ooooeeeooo it runs in the familyyy~ ID in alt and under cut 🎶
ID: A pen and paper comic of Brozone from DreamWorks Trolls. From top to bottom: John Dory scratches his face and says "Yeah I have uh autism and tourettes and prolly OCD and." before cutting off. Clay counts on his fingers and says "Yeah I get kinda OCD sometimes, and I get non-motor seizures and." before cutting off. Floyd shrugs and says "Uh well, clinical depression and OCD for one, I take meds for anxiety and panic attacks, plus." before cutting off. Continues in next image.
A pen and paper comic continuing from the last image. Branch looks darkly at the viewer and says "You don't even want to know." Next panel Brandy and Bruce are laying in bed. Brandy is reading a book and looks puzzlingly at Bruce. Bruce is staring at the ceiling, a stressed look on his face and says "Brandy I'm worried for our children." /end ID.
Looking at the timestamps, this was one month before Max’s first f1 race, and they last karted together in 2012 3 years prior. I have so many questions, like, were they cool at this point of time? Clearly they were friendly enough for Max to joke like this, but you can also notice that Charles only replied to Esteban LOL
Lord Garmadon comes back, and he’s all determined to be such a good dad to Lloyd, but Lloyd at this point wants less than nothing to do with him: he’s done giving out second and third and fifth chances for this guy, and he has visions to deal with and friends to find and now his OWN kids to take care of. And Sora and Arin would offer two sides of the argument: Sora representing the idea of not forgiving Garmadon and cutting him out of Lloyd’s life like she did with her own parents, citing him as irredeemable and far too toxic. Arin representing the idea of forgiving Garmadon, as he would do anything to be with his own parents again, and he thinks Lloyd should give the guy another chance.
And finally Wyldfyre being the idea that maybe Lloyd doesn’t have to do either. Garmadon can still be in Lloyd’s life without being his parent or being at the center of it. He doesn’t have to forgive Garmadon, but he doesn’t have to eternally hate him either. He’s allowed to just get over him and start a new relationship.
I just think that Lloyd’s new kids representing his own turmoil with his father would be a neat idea and also good closure on Lloyd’s Garmadon angst. He’s been hung up on his dad for so long and I think he deserves to move on on his own terms - not because Garmadon disappears or dies or sacrifices himself or they absolutely need him so Lloyd is forced to get along. No stakes, just Lloyd and Garmadon and their fucked up relationship
First day of Pride and I just want to shine a light on all the trans people who are unable to transition, especially those who aren’t fresh faced university grads. Those who don’t live in a supportive or even just accepting home or community. Those who aren’t well off, those who aren’t good at or popular enough to crowd fund. Those who can’t afford transitioning. Those who can’t even transition socially or need to stay in the closet for your safety. Those who rely on benefits or unforgiving jobs to just pay the bills. Having to hear day in and day out you’re just GNC, that your pre-transition body is “ugly” and the ways you can express your gender are “cringe.” Every trans person who’s been told they aren’t “trying hard enough”. Those trans people who won’t even get to imagine transitioning for years.
I see you. I love you. You’re so undervalued and under appreciated in a world where being a white, well off 20 year old on HRT and getting surgery is more common to see than people who work full time and just don’t have that privilege. It sucks, so much. But you are loved and you are seen.
Happy Pride Month to trans people who aren’t where they want to be. The world is better with you in it. We all need each other.
I'm nowhere near done with my full bad batch rewatch but I have said it once and I'll say it again: Echo would understand Crosshair better than anyone else after this experience and that is a hill I will die on.
DPxDC Headcanon: the title "King of the Infinite Realms" is misleading
Sure, there are indeed an infinite amount of worlds and dimensions across the multiverse. However, the name "Infinite Realms" is actually referring to the space in between said realms. The malleable borders that act as cushions to prevent all these realities from constantly colliding with each other. If you compare the worlds themselves to bones, then the Infinite Realms would be the cartilage preventing friction whenever they move.
So if Danny ever became the king of the Infinite Realms, he wouldn't actually have authority over whatever goes on within said realms. After all, each world has their own set(s) of afterlives and deities already taking care of that. No, Danny would only be in charge of that squishy, ectoplasmic stretch of space that portals need to punch holes through in order to cross over.
