Married life
Tumblr media
This scene has been tormenting me today.
I’ve read fics where the topic of marriage is something so very foreign and alien to them. They aren’t totally against it, they just don’t see it happening, or it just doesn’t roll off the tongue, much as it hurts to merely gaze at one another (an “I love you” between these fuckers can make me stop dead in my tracks) And tbh I find that really fitting for them, and strange in an endearing way. The exploration of that part of their relationship was something I didn’t know I needed. It’s like they become so much more tender and may I even say vulnerable in the face of it, to the point of them not really knowing what to do about it, which led me to recognizing that it could actually be a big deal for them and not only something that has a 50% chance of ending in disaster. I mean what is marriage if not two people being able to meet in the middle and really see each other and stay committed after that? And to witness that happening between Jack and Tyler? Truly a novelty.

Chapter 24: Pokémon?
“So, yeah, now, even their Captain wants to…” You trail off awkwardly as you press your lips together, looking at the dropped jaws on the other side of the brunch table from you.
“Hun, I don’t- We might-” Leah starts as she stares at you, blinking away the surprise as she holds the utensils.
“Right?” Mia retorts as she stares at you. “The candle I lit for you worked too well, I reckon…”
“No, really, we girlbossed a bit too close to the sun… Manifested this too hard.” Leah adds, making Mia agree eagerly.
Your face warms up and you lower your head, taking a sip of your tea. You definitely shouldn’t be having this talk about your love and sex life inside this French bistro… but alas.
“Four? I mean… Four fwb would be understandable, you know?” Mia adds and Leah nods.
“But four boyfriends?” Leah adds. “And they’re all friends, and work together?”
“They’re not my boyfriends!” You retort as you say sharply, your face burning up a bit.
“Oh yeah? Are you seeing anyone else?” Leah retorts, ever the more logical of the three of you.
“No, but like, when would I have the time for that?” You retort and that earns chuckles from all three of you.
“Good point.” Leah concedes as she sips her own warm cappuccino.
“Regardless, they literally BEAT-” Mia lowers her voice when she realize she’s being too loud. “they beat Ethan’s arse for you.” She whisper shouts. “Fwbs don’t do that, boyfriends do!”
“Right!” Leah agrees and gestures at them. “They’re absolutely your boyfriends.”
“I hate you both.” You retort and shake your head, amused, which causes all three of you to break into giggles.
“So, which one of them is, you know-” Mia asks in a mischievous tone just as you just ate a bit of omelette, causing your eyes to widen as you stare at her.
“I feel like I’m being mocked.” You quip.
Once again the two of them erupt with laughs. “I’m sorry, hun, but we’ve gotta live vicariously through you!” Leah says, Mia nodding in agreement.
“Nooo, you’re taking the piss out of me!” You reply with a chuckle.
“C’moooooon! Gossip with us! We barely see you nowadays!” Mia begs as she puts her hands together in pleading.
“Oh bloody hell…” You retort. “I don’t know-”
“Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease!” Mia begs.
“Alright! Gosh, I was going to say ‘I don’t know because I haven’t been with all of them yet’!” You reply.
“You haven’t?!” The girls say with a loud gasp that attracts loads of side-eye from the other patrons. You’re probably going to get kicked out soon.
“Will you shush?” You scold them, eyes widened and lips pressed together. “No, I haven’t.”
“You’ve got to!” Mia tells you.
“We’ll get there, we’re taking it slow.” You reply.
“Babes, they beat up your ex-” Leah tells you. “They’ve all slept over at some point, they pick you up from work every day, as long as they’re in town-” She continues to list, counting with her fingers.
“Right, you’re skipping through all the loops. There’s no ‘taking it slow’!” Mia adds. “Hop on those cocks, bloody hell!”
“MIA!” You scold her with a dropped jaw.
“Oh, don’t play coy now! You’ve got four boyfriends!” Leah retorts and narrows her eyes at you, sticking her tongue out now.
“Right, collecting them like trading cards.” Mia adds, causing the three of you to laugh again.
“They’re like Pokémon, you’ve just Gotta Catch’Em All!” Leah adds, causing you to cover your mouth to hide a snort of a laugh.
“Fuck you both, honestly!” You quip playfully. You missed them, missed the laughs they’ve provided you.
“No, but really now.” Leah says once you’ve all calmed down. “They make you really happy, we can see it.” She looks at you with a warm smile on her lips.
“They do.” You confirm with a sheepish nod and smile.
“I really hopes it works out between you and them.” Mia adds. “It’s so nice to see you smile this much!” Her tone is sincere and sweet.
“Thank you…” You say softly. “I hope so too.” You tell them.
“It better, or I’ll go after them with my pipe!” Mia warns, referencing an inside joke between the three of you, a piece of rusty pipe a repairman left behind at her flat after fixing her bathroom sink, which she now uses as her ‘signature weapon’.
“Right, you’re gonna pipe four soldiers?” You joke a bit, sarcastically.
“Oh no, hun, they’re the ones piping you!” Mia adds and you all lose it laughing again.
“So when are we going to meet them?” Leah teases.
-
You shouldn’t have been surprised that Kyle would answer your texts so quick.
You also shouldn’t have been surprised that he brought Johnny in tow.
And yet you were.
You texted Kyle your location and in less than 20 minutes he was jogging up the pavement, Johnny hot on his heels. You could see them coming through the window.
“Bloody hell…” You mutter as you watch them turn to go through the front door of the café/bistro.
“What?” Leah asks and before you can say anything, they both turn to look at where you are, finding Kyle and Johnny strolling right in and in your direction, cute little smirks on their lips.
Your friends recognize them immediately, of course, you had shown plenty of pictures, especially when you had just matched them on Tinder… But seeing them in real life is always different.
Kyle’s pretty boy-ing as usual. White v-neck to show off his collar bones and defined chest, grey jeans, white Converse and a black denim jacket overtop of it. He has his cutest smile on, pretty lashes fluttering as he comes to stand by your side.
“Hi, lovie…” He greets you and leans down, kissing the top of your head, before turning to greet your friends. “Hey, I’m Kyle!” He says politely.
He barely has time to say anything else before Johnny, throws himself onto the free chair next to you, the last one at this table for four, his arms wrapping around your shoulders.
“Mo leannan, ye look so bonnie…” He says before gripping you around the jaw and stealing a direct, open-mouthed kiss from you. Your eyes widen the moment he does, causing you to carefully hold onto his beefy forearm, returning the kiss to the best of your (embarrassed) abilities.
Just as you’re pulling away, you can hear Kyle justifying the kiss to your flabbergasted friends. “Forgive ‘im, he was raised in a barn.”
“Haud Yer Wheesht! I was not!” Johnny retorts as he turns to look at your friends. “Hi, I’m Johnny.” He adds as a greeting, a lopsided smirk on his face, as he reaches forward to… shake hands with your friends.
Johnny smells strongly of deodorant. That Lynx body spray shite he always sprays on himself. It’s not bad, but it’s strong… You’re only lucky the leather jacket he’s wearing conceals it a bit.
It’s an old thing, maybe a couple of decades’ old, the leather starting to wear out over the shoulders, and he’s paired it with a light blue hoodie, dark jeans and black combat boots.
“Was too.” Kyle retorts, a bit childishly as he comes to stand by your side, his hands caressing your bare arms in the t-shirt you’re wearing. “You three been having fun?” He asks you and your friends. Ever mature and considerate, he is.
Your friends are still just staring. Sure, they knew you haven’t been lying to them as you told them about your relationship with these men but it’s one thing to hear about it, the other to see it.
“Yep, we had fun, Gaz…” You say softly, catching the way Johnny’s just serving himself to the dessert you haven’t yet touched on your plate.
“You really were raised in a barn.” You tell him. “Don’t even ask permission to eat my food?” You scold him, which causes him to smirk again.
“Either I stuff my mouth with food or with you. And I’m still civilised enough to know the last one is frowned upon to do in public.” Johnny retorts, then his smile grows into an impish grin. “Unless you’re into some… kinky things.” He winks.
That causes you to sputter and look away, grumbling under your breath as his ever-present tendency to make dirty jokes.
“I like ‘im!” Mia announces suddenly as she stares at Johnny.
“I knew you would. You two think the same.” You tell her and shake your head. “Which is why I only asked Kyle to come.” You add and stare at Kyle with a cocked brow, as if questioning why he didn’t come along.
“He was on his knees begging to come. What was I supposed to do? Leave ‘im behind?” Kyle quips, a playful smirk on his lips.
“Was not!!!!” Johnny retorts. “I just figured out he was coming to see you and joined in!” He adds. “Plus, my feelings are hurt you didn’t want me to come!” He tells you with a fake pout.
“Oh, piss off, it’s not that I didn’t want you to come!” You say simply. “It’s just that you’re…”
“A dickhead.” Kyle finishes for you.
“NO!” You scold Kyle. “I was going to say ‘Intense’.”
“Intense? That feels like a euphemism for something bad, mo leannan!” The Scot tells you as he pops a macaron into his mouth.
“That’s ‘cause it is.” Kyle replies for you.
“It’s not- Kyle!”
“And your friends already like me, don’t ye?” Johnny turns his attention to the girls.
“Yes, we do!” Mia replies and nods.
Leah still hasn’t shaken out of her stupor. “My God, there’s two of them.” She says as she looks back and forth between Mia and Johnny.
“I know… I know…” You soothe her in a playfully annoyed tone.
“So, Johnny, is it?” Mia quips and leans forward to whisper conspirationally. “Give it to us straight. How does it work?” She points vaguely at you and him and Kyle.
“Mia!” You scold her this time. “I thought we were past those topics?”
“‘Those’ topics?” Kyle asks as he lowers himself near you to listen in better. “And what topics would those be?” He adds, as if he’s not perfectly aware they mean you guys’ sex life.
“Oh my God, Kyle, not you too!” You whine as you look at him.
“Nae, it’s fine that they’re curious!” Johnny quips on the other side. “I’ll gladly tell ye all about it!”
“Johnny!” You scold him again, sounding ever the more exasperated.
“Oh, you wouldn’t have anythin’ to tell either way, you dickhead.” Kyle retorts. “I’m the only one that has all the tea to share.”
“KYLE!” You scold him too, your head going back and forth between the two men flanking you.
The banter continues, your friends seemingly absolutely engrossed in the two sergeants, the way they’re making you sweat, and almost begging for the side of the gossip you had swiftly evaded earlier in the brunch.
“God help me survive this-” You murmur to yourself, feeling crescently embarrassed as everyone on the table takes the piss out of you. “I hate you all… I should’ve just invited Simon…”

“Tell me it doesn’t matter.” Ino watches leaned against the doorframe of your shared as you simply look over your shoulder rubbing a body butter up your legs, the legs that he worships. Your eyebrows furrow the extra skin gathering between your forehead while you maintain eye contact.
“Tell me it doesn’t matter if we don’t win in Shibuya tomorrow… if I don’t gain Nanami’s watch” The brunette’s voice dies out and your lips purse. Shaking your head the delicate strands moving along in sync with the movement; you turn your attention back to moisturizing your skin.
“No. You tell me if it matters you’re the professional jujitsu sorcerer, Takuma.” Rising to your feet the navy blue slip dress that he bought for you sits loose against your skin. He identifies it easily, he’d bought it for you after he earned his first check from sorcery. Sitting the tub of body care on the charcoal grey nightstand in the overly priced hotel you finally turn to look at him. The sound of his last name on your lips sending shivers up his spine reminding him of when you refused to address him casually.
“I’m not a nun. I’m not your mommy.”
“I’m just asking you’ll love me no matter what.” Ino called back, fiddling with the ring around his middle finger.
“What am I? Your God?” You huff a small chuckle, taking a seat to position yourself on the fluffy white duvet that always seemed to be the same.
“Yeah.” The tanned skin boy huffed back and you close your mouth shut. A moment passes,
Then two.
“You can beat him.” You were a mystery to Ino even after all this time however, you had yet to lie to him.
“What if I don’t? How are you going to look at me if I can’t beat Mahito?” The brunette’s gaze finally lifts from his scarred hands, big brown eyes falling over the outline of your body. Your eyes find his or his finds you, he can’t quite tell. They’re low, sultry, and bring him against his will —as if he’d back out anyway—.
“Just like this.” Another moment.
Another two.
“I’m going to say something. It’s probably gonna make you angry. I need you to hear me out, okay? I don’t wanna get Nanami’s watch rather we win at Shibuya or not.” Takuma’s arms fall to his sides as he fiddles with his fingers. You sigh, closing your eyes for a quick moment while nodding your head. He waits for them to open before he continues on.
“I’m still gonna go for it. I’m still gonna try but… I don’t need Nanami’s approval. I need yours. I don’t wanna be one of those guys who doesn’t know when to walk away, okay? Who- who, doesn’t choose his partners approval over their hero’s advice. It’s embarrassing to still be doing this shit when you’re a grown ass man.” Your head swivels before you shrug
“Okay.”
“Okay?” The masked sorcerer turns his attention away from the opposite side of the door frame that he had his back pressed upon.
“If you wanna quit being a jujitsu sorcer, you can quit being a jujitsu sorcerer let alone gain someone’s approval. You don’t need my permission.” You wouldn’t admit that your heart skips a beat when the brunette turns his back towards you, not taking more than three steps he spins back of his heel. He watches you watch him, gently dive his top half on the mattress legs still standing on the ground. The position forces him to look up to you.
“We’ve been doing this together. We’ve always been doing this together” His voice is barely above a whisper.
“I’m your Sensai. Okay, I work for you.”
“Teach me then.”
“I am teaching you.” Your voice gets a bit sharper, a little more firm.
“I’m fighting for both of us, Y/n. I know that.” You take a breath and your shoulders rise and fall with it. With your bottom lip between your teeth you stare down at Takuma with tired eyes.
“If you don’t win tomorrow, I’ll leave you.” You shake your head as the second grade plants his face in the sheets with a deep, shaky, sigh. The back of his head stared back at you, his rich brunette hair that adorned his shoulders falling to the sides of his face. You run your fingers through it, from his hairline to his nape.
“I’m serious. Does that help you?” Your voice is nothing above a whisper now. Your hands continue to keep themselves busy as your nails repeatedly soothe themselves through his scalp. Sniffing flowing through the air before the boy finally brings his head up to sit in your hand. Your thumb softly swipes across his cheek like windshield wipers blades, you glance down on the features of his face —a pout occupying his lips—. Takuma places a plethora of kisses to the inside of your wrist before continuing up your forearm and quickly to your shoulder. You allow him to settle his whole body on the bed before you take his lips against you, hands settled on the side of his neck. He hikes himself higher for a second to rest his velvet like lips on your forehead for a beat before coming back down your shoulder. The brunette leaves kisses in his wake sniffles not yet dying down but almost amplifying. Resting his head in your lap as he presses a kiss to your knee, the knee. You both sit in silence for the amount of time, you cannot count.
The peck against the surface of your panties almost makes you flinch, almost. Your gaze falls down to Takuma whose face isn’t visible to you; head in between your thighs laying gentle touches in between them with his lips.
“Ino.” You warn
“Please… just please let me do this.” There’s a slight whine to his voice as he licks a stripe up the thin cloth of the black cotton. You can feel his warm tongue through the material. With hesitation you temporarily raise your hips from the mattress while he’s quick to pull your undergarment down before he’s plunging nose deep in between your slicking folds. Your hand grabs a chunk of hair, your thigh gets thrown over your shoulder.
“Can’t go five minutes without h-having your mouth on something, huh? So needy Takuma.” The brunette whines into your cunt, the vibrations make your breath hitch in your throat.
“Please, please. I need it so bad” With no remorse, he’s squeezing his hot tongue In between your folds attending to your throbbing clit. The second grade begins to buck his hips into the sheets searching for any type of friction to soothe his half hard cock. Ino moves his lanky fingers to circle your sopping hole before inserting two fingers. He looks up at you for approval, strands of loose hair sticking to his forehead, eyes glossy and doe like a puppy.
“Need you s-so bad mommy, so bad. Only n-need you.” The brunettes back to lapping your juices with his tongue not letting anything slip by.
“Yeah? I see the way you look at Nanami, maybe I should ask him if he could do something with that whore-ish cock of yours.” Ino lets a high pitched moan slip between his lip, his hips that were once rutting into the sheets at a steady pace now stutter in their wake. You begin to grind your pussy over the mouth presented to you and Takuma’s fingers frenzy thrusting into your plush insides through the ring of muscle.
“Fuckk, pleasemommypleasemommyplease-” The moan he produces is damn right pornographic and it’s not long before he’s looping an arm around you pulling your warm, slick, cunt impossibly closer. While being nose deep into your pussy, Takuma borderline suckles on your clit like he would your hardened nipples when the cool air becomes too much on nights and you groan at the intensity of it all. Fingers pressed into your entrance, a hot tongue circling around your bud, and all of a sudden the chord in your stomach is moments away from snapping.
“Need you to finish, need to taste all of it. Please.” The brunette realizes when you finish almost immediately, your warm walls are squeezing his fingers so tight that it could cut the circulation. You’re quivering, vision spoty, and eyes rolled to the back of your head, and that’s all he needs to shoot white streams into his boxers like a horny teenager. You’re both panting while you throw an arm over your eyes, your opposite hand placed on the back of his neck rubbing your thumb up and down his nape.
“You did good Takuma, you did good.”

Jana x reader who she shares a class with and has always thought was cute. One day they end up having to work together for something in that class and the more they’re together the more she likes the reader. The reader is oblivious though so Jana has to go to the team for advice on how to ask you out
Tumblr media
pairing: jana x afab!reader (they/them pronouns used)
warnings: none!
---------------------------------------------
jules yaps: yayy first request!!! i'm so happy about it i hope this is what you were thinking of!!💕
---------------------------------------------
The familiar sounds of sneakers squeaking against the hardwood floor and the rhythmic bounce of the basketball echoed through the gym. Despite the comforting routine of practice, Jana's mind kept wandering to Y/N, her classmate.
"Jana, your mind's not in the game," Coach called out, snapping her back to reality. She nodded, taking a deep breath, and tried to refocus. But the image of Y/N’s smile kept pulling her thoughts away.
It had all started a week ago when their professor paired them up for a project. Jana had always found Y/N attractive, with their quiet confidence and warm smile. The thought of working together had initially been exciting but had quickly become nerve-wracking for Jana.
"Hey, Jana, do you think this set makes sense?" Y/N asked, leaning over their shared laptop. Jana's heart skipped a beat as she caught a whiff of Y/N's citrusy shampoo.
"Yeah, it looks good," Jana managed to say, hoping her voice didn’t betray her nervousness. As the days passed and they spent more time together, Jana found herself increasingly captivated by Y/N’s kindness and intelligence. However, Y/N seemed completely unaware of her growing feelings.
During a break in practice, Jana sat on the bench, lost in thought. Her teammates noticed her distraction. Aaliyah nudged her. "What's up, Jana? You look like you've got something on your mind."
Jana sighed, glancing around to make sure no one else was listening. "It's Y/N. We've been working on this project together, and I really like them. But I don't think they have any idea how I feel."
Her teammates exchanged knowing glances. Paige grinned, leaning in. "You should just ask them out. What's the worst that could happen?"
Jana bit her lip. "I don't even know how to start. What if they don't feel the same way?"
Azzi walked over to them, patting Jana her on the back. "You'll never know unless you try. How about you invite them to one of our games? It’s a casual way to hang out outside of class."
Jana nodded slowly. "I guess that could work. But what do I say?"
"Keep it simple," Paige advised. "Tell them you’ve got tickets and thought it’d be fun if they came. No pressure."
"But what if I freeze up?" Jana asked, her anxiety rising.
Aaliyah chimed in, "Just remember, they’re your friend first. You've already built a connection. The rest will come naturally."
"Yeah," Azzi agreed. "And if it makes you feel better, we’ve got your back. We’ll make sure you look good out there. Right, guys?"
The team nodded in unison, offering supportive smiles.
Paige added, "You could also use the opportunity to find out more about their interests. People love talking about themselves. It’ll take the pressure off you."
"And if all else fails," Aaliyah said with a grin, "just be yourself. That’s who they’ve been spending time with and enjoying."
Jana felt a little better hearing her teammates' advice. "Okay, I’ll do it. Thanks, guys."
The next day, Jana felt a mix of nerves and excitement as she approached Y/N in the library. She found them engrossed in a textbook and took a deep breath before walking over.
"Hey, Y/N," she said, her voice wavering slightly.
Y/N looked up and smiled warmly. "Hey, Jana. How's it going?"
Jana held out two tickets to the upcoming game. "I was wondering if you’d like to come to our game this weekend. It’d be nice to hang out outside of class."
Y/N's eyes widened in surprise but then softened with a smile. "I’d love to, Jana. Thanks for thinking about me."
They were in the library for a bit more time, just talking and spening quality time together. The night soon came, and the library was about to close. "I guess we should get going now." Y/N advised and Jana agreed as she helped Y/N pack her things up from the library stool.
"Do you want me to walk to your dorm with you?" Jana asked feeling a bit bolder than she usually is. Y/N agreed as they started walking towards the building.
They got into the elevator and thinking the same, they both wanted to press the button for Y/N's floor, so theirs fingers connected, sending a shock through both of them.
Soon enough they arrived to her dorm. "Thank you, Jana" Y/N thanked the tall girl, as she embraced her into a tight hug. Jana wa flabbergasted at first but she soon got familiar with the feeling of Y/N's hands around her waist due to their height difference, and too familiar feeling in her stomach even when she just admired the smaller girl. It's almost as if their bodies waned to melt into eachother, like they were made for eachother.
Saturday arrived, and with it, a flurry of nerves for Jana. She glanced at the stands repeatedly during the game, searching for Y/N’s face. When she finally spotted them, her heart did a little flip. Seeing Y/N there, cheering her on, filled her with a new energy, and she played with extra enthusiasm.
The whole game, Jana played her heart out. She showed off a lots of time and she looked good doing it. Seeing Y/N in the stands, clapping and screaming whenever she scored, gave her a kind of confidence like never before.
After the game, Jana quickly showered and changed, eager to meet Y/N. She found them waiting outside the locker room, standig in Jana's jersey, and with a UConn hoodie in their hand.
"Congrats on the win, Jana! You were amazing out there," Y/N said, their eyes shining with admiration.
"Thanks, Y/N," Jana replied, feeling her cheeks warm. She took a deep breath, deciding it was now or never. "So, I’ve been meaning to tell you something. I didn't dare to tell you because i fear it will ruin our friendship and what we have. I'm telling you this right now because now or never. I really like you. I was wondering if you'd like to go out with me sometime. It's more thank okay if you don't want to and you don't feel the same and i also get it if you don't wanna be friends anymore because this changed your perspective about me. And i'm sorry if this-"
"I’d love to, Jana. I’ve actually liked you for a while too, but I wasn’t sure how you felt." Y/N admitted, interrupting Jana in her rant.
Jana’s heart soared, and she couldn’t help but smile widely. "Looks like we were both a bit oblivious."
Y/N laughed softly. "Yeah, I guess so."
As they walked out together, Jana felt a sense of happiness and relief wash over her. Thanks to her teammates' advice and a bit of courage, she was finally on the path to something wonderfull.
The following week had been a whirlwind for Jana, filled with late-night study sessions and early morning practices. Despite the exhaustion, she found herself looking forward to her project meetings with Y/N. They had a natural chemistry that made the hours fly by.
One evening, as they sat in the library, Y/N stretched and yawned. "I think that's enough stats for today. Want to grab a coffee?" Jana's heart raced at the casual invitation. "Sure, I'd love to."
They walked to a nearby café, chatting about everything from favorite movies to childhood memories. Jana found herself laughing more than she had in a long time.
As they sipped their drinks, Y/N looked thoughtful. "You know, Jana, I’ve really enjoyed working on this project with you. I don't usually look forward to group works, but you make it fun."
Jana felt a warm glow at Y/N's words. "Me too. I’m really glad we got paired up." Y/N smiled, and they continued their conversation, unaware of the time passing. When they finally left the café, the sun had long set, and the streets were quiet with just a small amount of cars driving in the street. They walked back to their apartment and it became casual for them to walk eachother to their dorms.
They cofessed their feelings to eachother but deep down both of them wanted to take another step but what if it was too soon?
But seems like, one ordinary Wednesday Jana thought she waited for too long. She had to take Y/N before some else does. Before they could say their goodbyes to eachother, Jana put her hands on Y/N's waist as she stopped them from opening the door. "Wait i hope it's not too soon to ask you this and we can keep our pace slow if that's what you want. But would you be my partner?" Jana asked, her voice sounding anxious as she looked into Y/N's sparkling eyes.
"I would love to, Jana" Y/N smiled up at the brunette, keeping eye contact as their eyes reflected the affection they had for eachother.
Now it was Y/N's time to take a step, they got on their tip toes, to try to reach Jana's face even though she still had to lean down a bit to capture Y/N's lips in hers. The kiss they shared was delicate and soft. I swear if someone was watching, they could see the sparks fly around them.

hiii sorry it’s taken so long </3 i hope u like it 🫶 | 0.6k of fluff
It’s taken you and Joel a while to get to where you are. To Jackson, to letting yourselves be together, to knowing each other as well as you do out loud.
It was years of living in the same QZ, of becoming reluctant partners in smuggling, of agreeing to take Ellie across the country, of stolen glances and cuddling with the excuse of needing body heat. Years of falling in secret until it couldn’t be avoided anymore.
Now, you’re all in Jackson, you’re all as safe as you can be, and it’s not a secret anymore. You share a house with Joel, share a bedroom, a bathroom, a life, really.
You’ve gotten used to the routines in Jackson. This time, the patrol was different, a couple of clickers spotted closer than you’d expected, close enough to touch you. That hasn’t happened in a long time.
They’d been taken care of, you and your patrol partner unharmed, but it weighed on you nonetheless. The thought that you’ll never really be safe. So, when you got home, you headed straight to the bathroom to shower.
Joel heard you come in, he listens for it every time you leave. He heard you skip your boots off, head up the creaky stairs. Then, the shower running. It was an easy choice to follow the noise.
Now, he’s stepping into the bathroom, your clothes from the day tossed on the ground, the mirror starting to fog from the warmth of the shower. And again, it’s an easy choice to join you.
Joel’s used to you greeting him with a hug and a kiss when you come home, used to the smile on your face that you get when you see him, one that makes his heart stutter. Today was different.
He pulls back the shower curtain once he’s stripped, and you hear it, and you know it’s him, but you stay facing the water.
Your favorite pair of arms wraps around your waist, your back tugged to Joel’s chest, his lips falling to the top of your shoulder to push a kiss into your skin.
You don’t have to say a thing, he knows what you need, how to be there for you.
“Hi, honey,” he says against your shoulder. “Tough day?”
Your hands hold his arms to your stomach, like you’re trying to soak in the comfort they provide, scarred skin a reminder of all you’ve survived together.
“Yeah.” Joel lifts his head and hooks his chin over your shoulder as you speak. “Some clickers tore a bit of the fence. They’re gone now, and the fence is being fixed, but it scared me, you know?”
“You’re okay?”
“I’m okay, Joel.” You twist in his arms, the water now hitting your back, your eyes finding his, brown eyes soft in a way they never used to be. “I guess I just forget that we’ll always be at risk, no matter where we are.”
“We’ve made it this far.” Calloused fingertips push a strand of wet hair from your cheek. “I’m not letting anything happen to you.”
Joel’s never been one to say too much, but you can tell by the way he says it that he means it. He says enough with the way his hands run up and down your sides.
“I know, Joel.” You drop your forehead to his chest, your hands pressed to his back. “I know.”
It’s the best he can ask for; you knowing that all he wants to do is take care of you, that it’s built into him to protect you. You know him well enough to know that his love is woven into it.
Joel Miller protects the ones he loves, and you’re no exception to that. If anything, you’re the first he’ll worry about.
He stands with you in the shower as long as you need, and even afterwards, he’s only ever a step behind you.

Chapter 6: Missing Someone
From: Bigger Houses Series
Tumblr media
Pairing: Mountain Ranger! Ari x Reader
Summary: It’s time to tell all and talk about each other’s pasts
Word Count: 2,417
Content/Warnings: ANGST, kissing, use of pet names, no-good exs, crying and near-crying, miscommunication but it’s resolved
Author’s Note: I was gonna make it bad, but then I realized, it’s not like this couple to have a huge blowout fight and misunderstanding. They’re too good at talking it out.
Shoutout to my childhood friend I visited last week for helping me write this. He won’t read it, but I appreciate him indulging my thought process. Likes, comments, reblogs, and asks are sooooo welcome and appreciated!!
Dividers by @animatedglittergraphics-n-more
Below is the song which inspired this chapter. It makes me very sad tbh. I skip it a lot when listening.

You and Ari were going to build a new dresser in your bedroom. It had been nearly six months of being together officially. Your old furniture was breaking down already, so the two of you had gone shopping. Ari insisted he was just going so that he could provide his truck for hauling it, but you knew that wasn’t the case when he turned down the first three you liked.
“No, that one won’t match the wood grains of your cabin.”
“What’s the material on that one? Pressed composite? No good.”
“Sure Duchess, that one could work…if you’re blind.”
You rolled your eyes at that last one,
holding back a laugh. Sure, those were valid reasons, but any minor criticism was something you took personally. He didn’t even live with you! Finally, you’d gotten him to agree to a nice, subtle piece that complemented your bed frame without clashing against the rest of the cabin. The only issue was, you had to build it.
Once the two of you had gotten home from the furniture store, you were exhausted. Not only from the shopping, but from long drive since you had to go to the nearest city with hopes of finding anything good.
After eating dinner, you and Ari settled on the couch together, cuddling to catch up on the show you two were binging at the moment. Sure, you usually preferred to do things away from screens, but sometimes, there was nothing that could replace classic, trashy TV. The dresser could wait. Ari was laying on his back and you were laying directly on top of him, ear over his steady heartbeat until you drifted to sleep.
Tumblr media
You began to stir awake and stretch when you realized the TV wasn’t playing anymore. Strong hands stroked your back and your eyelids fluttered open. Your sleepy pupils sparkled and dilated as you moved your chin to Ari’s chest to see him looking down at you the same way, him not even realizing the way he smiled when you were within this eye sight.
“Well good morning handsome.” Your voice was full of sleep.
“Good morning.” Ari leaned forward to kiss your nose as he pulled his phone out of his pocket.
“Looks like it really is morning. 2:47 am.”
You hummed in response. “I think we kinda threw off our sleep schedule with what was supposed to be a nap.”
Ari nodded and laughed. “Oh definitely. But now we’ve got all this time to be productive. You wanna build that dresser?”
You groaned and threw your head into his chest, smushing it your nose and mouth. “Yeah, I guess so.”
You groaned and sighed before your muffled voice came out against his pecs again. “Lemme go pee first.”
You pushed off of Ari’s chest, causing him to exhale most of the air in his lungs with a laugh before he watched you scurry to the bathroom.
Ari got up and walked toward your room to get started on the dresser while he waited for you. Just as he sat on the floor straddling the instructions and some spare parts, he heard a buzzing coming from the nightstand, lighting up your dim bedroom.
“Duchess, your phone is ringing.” He yelled out the bedroom door.
“You can get it. I’ll be out soon. It could be important since they’re calling this time of night.” He heard your faint response.
With a groan, Ari stood up again and took the few large strides towards your nightstand, picking up the phone off the charger. The number wasn’t saved.
“Hello?”
“Hey, is that you? I miss you s’much. You should come over.” A man slurred from the other side of the line.
Ari was confused. He knew the area code of the phone number wasn’t from around here, but who was this man and why was he calling at this hour?
“Who is this?” Ari gritted out the words. He was beginning to feel something. There was anger, there was frustration. He was hurt that this seemed like something that was kept from him. The man on the other side of the line continued to call out your name.
“It’s me. It’s Oscar. Where are you? My bed’s cold.”
That got Ari. It hit him where it hurts and he felt a pang in his chest. He hung up the phone and stalked over to the bathroom where you were washing your hands as his hands shook. You hadn’t looked up yet.
“Hey Bear, was it anything important?” You were met with silence, only Ari’s heavy breathing and the sound of running water filling the air. When he finally spoke up, you could hear a near-growl in his voice.
“Who is Oscar?” Your head darted up and your wide eyes met his through the mirror. You shut off the water, dried your hands, and turned around.
“He’s no one. No one that we should be concerned about, anyway. Why did he call?”
You could see the worry on Ari’s brow and the tears that threatened to fill his reddening eyes. “He said his bed was cold. He misses you. Is there something I don’t know?”
You broke your gaze with Ari, looking at your shifting feet on the cool floor while you fiddled with your fingertips. You took a deep breath and a step towards Ari, surprised by him taking a step back. He’d been hurt before and he didn’t need it coming from you, too. Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion at his distance.
“Oscar is my ex. I should’ve known it would be him calling at this hour.” Ari’s look of hurt took on even more emotion; it was his turn to be confused.
“So he calls you often at this time of night? When I’m not around? And you don’t tell me? Do you always pick it up?”
You shook your head, reaching out to Ari, glad that this time he let your set your hands on his waist.
“No.” You whispered back, your watery gaze meeting his. “I know you and I have been a little private with our pasts, but I think it’s time we tell each other everything.”
Ari nodded as you followed him to the couch. A place where you two had just had your bodies pressed together found you sitting on opposite ends, your legs criss-crossed in front of you and Ari’s long legs out to the side. You weren’t touching at all as you pulled a pillow up against your chest for comfort and took a deep breath, preparing to start.
You told Ari everything. All about the relationship. The expectations, the lies, the late night phone calls, the broken promises, the new girl after the breakup. He nodded along, keeping a mostly level face, although he maintained a mild layer of disgust. How could someone so awful keep you for so long? You were too good for Oscar. Heck, Ari thought to himself, you were too good for him, too. But he would spend the rest of his life becoming better for you if he had to.
As Ari was taking it all in, you continued on. “Mostly during the relationship, but even for a few months after, he would still call me late at night. It’s been over a year since the last time. I honestly thought he would’ve forgotten all about me by now. I don’t have his contact saved anymore. Something must’ve happened, though. But it’s not my problem. He was always whiskey drunk and saying he missed me, just like this time, but I knew that wasn’t the case.”
You looked up at Ari. He seemed like he was beginning to understand. “When we were dating, I fell for it. I fell for all the sweet, yearning things he would say, and I’d come over. We’d dance down the hallway and fall into his bed. We’d lay there and talk, well, it was almost always him doing the talking and lying until the sun came up. I really lost my voice over that whole thing.”
Ari felt such deep sadness for you. His favorite thing was when you would talk passionately about something random or speak your mind against the popular opinion. To hear that someone took that away, someone didn’t appreciate you and your amazing qualities, made him want to scream. His jaw clenched and he kept his silence, grateful for the full insight on your life. If Ari ever met Oscar, well, who knows what would happen to that punk?
Your voice began to break as you sniffled. “I know he wasn’t trying to hurt me, or break my heart, but I felt used. Like I was a late night lonely drug. I know he thought he loved me, and he would say that I was all he wanted, but I think he just wanted someone. At one point, I wished that I was that one he wanted, but I think a part of me always knew I wasn’t.”
Ari had crept closer again over the duration of your story. He pulled you in tight to his chest and rubbed your back as you wept, tears staining his old t-shirt. He had no idea how someone so awful could bring down someone so amazing, so angelic. You were everything. The sun rose and and set on you for Ari.
He pulled away and set his eyes deeply on yours, his hands holding your fingers. “I’m so sorry, Angel. I’m sorry you had to go through that. You deserve the world. Anyone who can’t see that was never worthy to even be in your presence.” He kissed your forehead and your eyes gently closed at the gesture as a soft smile graced your face again at his true, genuine sweetness.
“You are the world. You’re my world, and I’m going to spend as long as I have to so you can see how much you mean to me. Every day, I’m going to do everything I can to give you the love you deserve. To show you just how much I really, truly, honestly love you.”
You sat there, mouth agape in shock. There it was. That was the first time either of you had dared to say the L-word to each other. It wasn’t haphazardly thrown out there as a last-ditch effort to stay. It wasn’t overused and thin. It was heavy, it was intentional, and it was true. It carried such a weight to it, but your were sure Ari wouldn’t have dropped it had he not meant the word with his whole soul.
You felt it too, though. That was the part that astounded you. There was no other person who you believed could ever hold a place so fitting for the word love. There was only Ari.
“I love you, too.” You spoke firmly, gazing into his bright blue eyes, lit up extra from his beaming smile. His hand moved up to your cheek and he leaned in for a kiss. His soft lips met yours as your tongues danced together. There was no greed, no rush. Just love.
When you pulled away, you rested your foreheads against each other. You sighed and giggled. “While I’m out here being honest. I feel like there’s something else I should tell you.”
Ari’s head tilted to the side, confused on what other bombshell you could be hiding. The truth was, you had never been completely forthright with your thoughts.
“Did I do something to make you feel like you couldn’t be honest with me before?” You could hear the wavering in his tone. After such a vulnerable moment, what else could be coming?
“No, no, that’s not at all what’s going on. It’s just…ugh….” You were beginning to grow frustrated with yourself. There was so much you kept locked inside as a result of how Oscar hurt you. You were elated it was coming out for Ari to see. He deserved to know every side of you, but words were hard to formulate in the right way.
“I’m sorry. I want to communicate more openly with you. But it’s scary. I thought when you found out about everything with Oscar, you’d judge me for it. You’d look at me differently.” He shook his head, about to speak up before you cut him off.
“I want to be able to explain it all fully. I should’ve told you all this sooner. I knew once I gave you everything, it would lock me in. It would have solidified everything in a way we can’t come back from. You knowing all the details of my life. I didn’t want it to blow up, because I knew if it did, I would never recover. If I’m being honest, I was so scared to give it all over to you because I’ll never get it back.”
Ari’s blew out a puff of air, processing your words. He simply nodded, allowing you to finish. He completely understood where you were coming from. To trust someone so deeply again after pain like that was the scariest thing he could think of, and he was going through it, too. He was just glad you did trust him. Because he’d give you everything you deserved and more in a heartbeat. The two of you weren’t locked in to anything bad at all, you were just securing yourselves in something you already knew.
After all the heaviness, you made an attempt to lighten the mood. “And, I think you should know, I’m completely capable of assembling a dresser by myself. There are just some times I ask you for help because I want to spend time with you. Not because I need it.”
You winked and Ari heartily laughed in response. “Is that also why you asked me if I needed help cooking dinner last week?”
It was your turn to laugh, throwing you head back before pulling it forward and shaking it back and forth. “No. Sometimes I offer help because I can’t stand to watch as you do something wrong.”
Ari playfully rolled his eyes and pulled you in close for one of his signature bear hugs. He spoke into your hair. “Well, I’m just happy you keep me around. And I’m always happy to do whatever, right by your side, like a true partner. I love you.”
You both inhaled each other’s scents deeply. “I love you, too.”
When you pulled away, Ari opened up and told you everything about his past, too.

@skyward-floored here you go :3
Heavy.
Skylor sighs as gently as she possibly can, so as not to disturb a deeply sleeping Kai. He’s leaning against her, head on her shoulder and body pressed against her own. Which means she is unfortunately the only thing keeping him upright. She considers just standing up and letting him fall—he was heavy, heavier than she expected, and while Skylor was strong, she wasn’t strong enough to find supporting him a cakewalk, and it would be funny.
He had promised not to fall asleep while they were watching movies, so it would be payback for breaking his promise, but something stops her. She watches his expression, which, in its relaxed state, betrays how exhausted he really is. He has eye bags Skylor would otherwise assume were bruises, and despite his young age, there’s something about that deeply-engrained fatigue that makes him look older.
She frowns as his eyebrows crease and his face assumes a pained expression. There’s a few seconds of silence before he jerks back, and—sitting upright, lax and no longer supported—almost falls of the couch they’re sitting on. Skylor is quick to steady him, and decide nap time is over.
“Hey, hey, Kai. Wake up.” She says softly, shaking him a little. It’s enough to wake him up, and he blinks at her. For a moment, just a second while he stares with wide eyes, she see the pain and panic written there. It disappears quickly with a slightly strained smile, and Skylor wonders if it’s real or if he’s just really good at hiding how he feels.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to fall asleep,” he says hurriedly, “I must have been more tired than I thought.” He’s still smiling, but Skylor sees him look around the room, and then at the television screen with an almost bleary expression, trying to orient himself.
“We were watching Legally Blonde, right?” He asks. “Did I miss a lot of it? Last I remember, Elle was practicing for the LSATs. Let me find the remote so I can skip—“
“What’s wrong?” It comes out a lot stronger than Skylor thought it would, but she’s glad for it. Kai’s smile falters.
“What do you mean?” He chuckles, but it’s too tired, too anxious.
“You’ve been…quiet…lately.” Skylor says. “And abnormally tired. You fell asleep while we were watching a movie. You never fall asleep during movies I ask you to watch.”
Kai’s smile returns, and it’s supposed to be reassuring, but all Skylor sees is the weight behind it.
“Yeah, we’ve just been training harder lately.” Kai says. “Wu tends to get pretty strict when he thinks we’ve gotten lazy, so he’s been working us to the bone.”
It’s a lie. Skylor doesn’t know his training schedule, but she can tell that this is a lie. She adjust in her seat, so that they’re no longer cuddled together and she can look him straight in the eye.
“Don’t lie to me. I’m worried about you, Kai.”
Kai seems to think it over for a second. That smile, that fake, heavy smile keeps for another few seconds before it begins to fade. The spark in his eye does do. He breaks her gaze, looking at the floor.
“I’m just…m’just…tired.” His voice has a slight wobble. “Years of saving Ninjago caught up with me, I guess. I’ve always been able to stay ahead of it, but in the lull after getting Nya back, I just…I just…”
His voice breaks. He leans back against the cough and looks up, rubbing his hands over his face roughly.
“Screw that, I’m exhausted. You know, I go outside every day and I see people, people who love me and people who hate me and everywhere I go, someone wants a picture or an autograph or they just glare at me like I’m the reason their lives are falling apart. And…maybe I am, maybe I just didn’t realize it. I can’t even scroll through Chirper without seeing someone saying something about me. ‘The red ninja’s so great’ and then the next post, someone is criticizing me for something that went wrong. I don’t know, I can’t fix everything. And every day, I wake up and there’s something to do. I drag myself out of bed, and I have to face terror, death, evil. Even on the days I have off and the days where nothing happens, somehow everything I’ve seen fills in the gaps and it’s like I spent the day saving the city over and over and over again.
“And my friends…I’ve almost lost them so many times, I have lost them so many times. How could I let that happen? It wad bad enough that it happened once, but how did I let it happen again? I can’t protect them, I can’t keep them safe. I think they might hate me, but don’t show it. And Lloyd…he’s like my little brother and I can’t do anything to keep his destiny from ruining what little childhood he has in him. That child-like innocence, I see it slip away more and more everyday and I can’t do anything. And Nya—!” Kai stands up, pulling on his hair. Skylor’s heart races in her chest, but she keeps herself calm.
“My own little sister had to give herself up to save the city! I’m supposed to protect her from anything, and I—I didn’t! I couldn’t! How could I? And then when she left, she didn’t say anything to me. She looked at Jay, looked him in the eye and spoke to him but she just…she just ignored me. She forgot me. And then Jay had the audacity to act like he’d lost someone so important when that was my little sister! That was my only family! I basically raised her! I’ve been there for her her out whole lives! SHE WAS MY LIFE, AND I LOST HER!” His voice rises to a shout, and then he stands there for a solid thirty seconds. He wilts steadily until he just collapses back onto the couch. He rests his forehead on her shoulder, and somehow it’s so much heavier than it should be.
“I’m…tired.” He whispers. “I’m so tired.”
Skylor doesn’t know what to say. How could she console him? She understood what he meant, but at the same time was sure that she hadn’t understood anything at all. She feels the sting of tears in her eyes, and tries to control them. She hurts for him, she hurts so bad because he hurts and she can’t do anything to help. She doesn’t know how. But…I can always learn, right?
She shifts both of them so that he’s laying more comfortably in her lap. Her heart aches at the faint tear tracks on his face. She presses a kiss to his forehead.
“I love you.” She cards her fingers through his hair, and is pleased when he closes his eyes.
“I love you too.” His words are almost inaudible, weighed down with sorrow, but they are sincere and they mean everything to Skylor.
“I’ll unpause the movie, and you just lay here. Sleep. Today is your day off, and I won’t let your demons make it anything less.”
Kai nods, and Skylor reaches for the remote.
“I love you,” she repeats, before unpausing the movie. She keeps running a hand through Kai’s hair, and it doesn’t take long at all before he’s fallen asleep. She wakes him whenever he shows signs of nightmares, and promptly sends him to sleep again. It goes like that throughout the rest of Legally Blonde, and through many other movies. When night falls, and Skylor has a headache from watching movies, she simply puts on one of her comfort movies and falls asleep herself. She wakes up with the worst crick in her neck, but Kai wakes up without quite so much weight on his shoulders, and she sees the usual spark in his eyes.
And that makes it worth it.

It’s interesting how Punk Hazard, Dressrosa, Zou and Wano all spill into each other with actions in one arc directly leading to motivations and consequences in another. Like all three of those arcs are essentially set up for Wano when you look at the big picture. They’re all explaining how exactly it is that all these characters ended up her fighting these two menaces. And that makes sense given that Wano is kind of the biggest deal we’ve ever gotten in terms of over arching storyline in One Piece and what is revealed there forever changes the story.
But yeah I just thought it was interesting because outside of Sagas like Water seven and we’ve never really gotten that tipping over feeling before. But while water seven feels just like one big arc with individual pieces. All those arcs are distinct from each other and it’s only when you get to Wano and see the bigger picture can you really fit together just how we all ended up here. It also doesn’t help that Wano’s where they’ve been trying to go from the start.
It’s also the first time they Straw hats actually have a plan to go out of their way and antagonize somebody. Like they are actively trying to antagonize Kaido before they got to Wano. They’ve never done that before they’ve always just kind of tripped and fell into trouble trying to help a friend. Which is kind of how the kaido thing starts but it snowballs into much more than that. The closest to anything like it is Vivi and alabasta. It really helps post time skip feel distinct from pre time and really sets you up with out even knowing it to prepare for something big to go down. It’s almost like a visceral shift from One piece as a serialized story to an a connected one.

A/N: A little fic set in season 12 while Deeks is laid off and the rest of his and Kensi’s life is kind of falling to pieces.
***
Sometimes You Just Can’t Fake It
“You know what would be great in here?” Kensi asks, waiting for either Callen or Sam to respond. It’s early afternoon on a Friday and so quiet she can hear every tap of finger on keyboard. When they say nothing, she answers for herself. “A taco bar. We could set it up in one of the storage rooms. No one would ever need to know, because no one ever goes in there except for Nell, and then we could have burritos whenever we want.”
“I think Deeks is rubbing off on you,” Sam comments with a gentle smile.
He’s not entirely wrong. The last few weeks have been rough, to put it mildly. She’s so used to Deeks being the cheerleader, the eternal optimist in their relationship and among the team. Her efforts to fill in the gaps, all seem to fall flat or come off as forced.
What Kensi wants to say more than anything, is this sucks. They were supposed to be buying their own house, starting a family, and instead the bar is beyond struggling, Deeks all but fired, and they’re months into trying to get pregnant.
“Why don’t you go home?” Callen suggests, not even bothering to check his watch. “Your paperwork’s done and I have it on good authority that the new boss is pretty lenient.”
Kensi allows a smile as she imagines Nell’s reaction to being called the boss. “Ok, thanks. I’m just going to give Deeks a call.”
“Tell him he owes me a game of pool,” Sam adds.
“I will.”
Deeks picks up after a few rings. “Kens, hi, what’s going on?”
“Hey, Callen said I could skip out early,” she explains, settling on the sofa set up beyond the bullpen. “I was thinking maybe I could pick you up and take you out to dinner. We’ve never gotten around to trying that New Mexican place with the couples margaritas.”
Her tone is decidedly flirtatious, but she doesn’t really care if someone overhears. With Deeks laid off, they’ve had even less time together, and she’s feeling the strain.
“That sounds amazing, baby,” Deeks sighs, and there’s a thread of exhaustion in his voice that never quite leaves these days. It’s different from the weariness that comes with a week of chasing after ad guys. “But there’s so much to do at the bar. Can I have a rain check.”
“Oh, yeah, sure.” She’s pretty proud of how well she hides her disappointment.
“You could go without me though. I, uh, know how much you love your margaritas and a good taco.”
“It wouldn’t be the same,” Kensi admits. “We’ll go another time. I’ll see you in a little bit.”
“Kay. Love you,” he says, a little sad and distracted like he’s been for weeks.
“Love you,” she murmurs back. Clasping her phone between her palms, she leans forward, pressing her lips together to stave off a wave of tears.
She’s trying so hard, for the both of them. And it’s just not enough.

The Godmother
Natasha Romanoff x Female Reader
You and Natasha ask Maria an important question
Note: This fic is a result of a head canon I have for my soft mama Nat family. There needs to be more Maria Hill softness in this world tbh. Enjoy!
Natasha Romanoff Masterlist 1, Natasha Romanoff Masterlist 2, Main Masterlist
Natasha sits on a bench with one of her best friends as she watches her two children run around the playground. She smiles as they help each other scale the ladder and go down the slide happily.
“This is nice,” Maria breaks the silence.
“Yeah? I wasn’t sure if you’d want to come. Y/n was insistent that you would like a day outside of the compound though,” Nat explains.
“I do have to say an invite to the playground was an interesting call from you,” Maria says. Her smile is soft as she too watches the kids play together. “And we’ve had many interesting calls.”
Natasha chuckles and takes a sip of her coffee. It’s a cool morning, but warm enough for a park trip for the first time in a while.
“So, what’s the real reason you asked me here?” Maria skips to the chase.
She, a great soldier and spy herself, can see the way Natasha’s hand fiddles with her wedding ring. A clear sign she has something to ask, but is being careful as to when to say it.
“Can’t get anything past you, Hill. What gave me away?”
“The ring.”
“Damn. I told y/n I needed to wear it on my necklace today,” Natasha says. She’s not upset that Maria read her tell. Maybe she even wanted her to notice it.
“So, what’s up?”
“There’s something I need to ask you. And it’s okay if you need some time to think about it, or even if you say no,” Natasha begins.
She’s nervous but as soon as she sees the subtle glance Maria makes towards the children when she hears a shout, she feels better about what she’s about to ask.
“Y/n and I have been talking and we want to ask you to be the godmother to Ali and Ivan.”
Maria blinks hard once, twice, and a third time. She looks over Natasha’s face and sees no inkling that she isn’t being serious.
“Oh, I- me?” She can’t find the right words. Maria never saw herself as the type to be a godmother. Her own insecurities start to flood her mind.
“Yeah, you. We just think that- Maria?” Nat calls after her as Maria excuses herself to the car.
She walks quickly, cursing herself internally for not just saying yes or that she’d think about it. As she gets in the car, she sits and watches on as Nat gets up to play with the kids.
Natasha panics in her own right and texts you to come to the park. You are working from home, but immediately leave your files behind and drive to the park.
“What happened?” You ask as soon as Nat and the kids are in ear shot.
“She just panicked when I asked her. Maybe I did something wrong, I don’t know. She’s in the car over there,” Nat explains. You catch sight of Maria.
“I’ll go and talk to her. It’s okay, baby. You did everything right,” you assure Nat with a hug and kiss to her lips.
As you approach the car, Maria takes a deep breath. You open the door and slide into the passenger seat.
“Hey,” you greet her, trying to be casual. In reality, Maria intimidates you with how calm and collected she always is during missions.
She only greets you with a soft smile. You can feel her nerves floating through the air.
“You see how Ali always keeps her eyes on her brother when they’re up high?” You think maybe if you steer the conversation in this direction then you can get through to her.
“Yeah. She’s a good protector,” Maria says. She can’t help but grin at the sight of the little girl.
“She is. She gets that from Natasha. You know she never thought she would be capable of being the mom she is, but she’s the best part of these kids’ lives,” you explain. Maria squirms in her seat a little. “And you’ve always been so supportive of me and Natasha.”
“Well it’s not hard. You two are great together.”
“Did you think that when you interrogated me when we got engaged?” You ask. You’re almost serious, but there’s a slight humor in your tone.
“I just wanted to make sure you were legit,” Maria remarks.
“So if I’m legit, then don’t you think that me and Nat thought about this a lot?” You poke at the real issue at hand.
She finally looks at you and she can’t help but soften at the way you’re looking at her. Maria takes note of your body language. Your shoulders are open to her and your hands rest on the center console. You’re not closed off in the slightest.
“I guess I’m just shocked,” Maria offers. “I don’t see myself as the type to be worthy of this sort of honor or responsibility.”
“Maria, I’ll be honest, you scare the absolute hell out of me. But it’s because you’re such a strong and capable woman. I can think of no one better to be the godmother to my children.”
Maria takes a deep breath and looks your expression over. She ponders your words and comes to a conclusion. “This was your idea?”
You nod affirmatively. Maria doesn’t say anything but she opens the car door and steps out. You follow her towards the children and Natasha. They are sitting on a bench as Nat gives them snacks.
“Hi Maria!” Ali sweetly greets the woman.
“Hey kiddo,” she replies. Then, she turns to you and Nat. “Can I talk to you two?”
You nod and take a few steps away from the kids, but are sure to keep them in sight and ear shot.
“I’ve got to admit it scares me, but I’d be honored to be their godmother,” Maria says. The words come out fast like she’s still a little scared to say them.
“Thank you so much, Maria. We’re so happy,” Natasha says. She smiles as she pulls Maria into a hug.
You watch them before Nat pulls you into the hug as well.
“I want a hug!” Your son, Ivan, runs in to join the group hug. Perfectly, he pulls on Maria’s hand and she lifts him up into the hug. Ali joins in too in Natasha’s arms.
“I love all of you,” Nat tells the group.
“We love you, babe,” you reply.
The kids mutter I love yous before running off to play once again. You sit on a bench with Maria and Nat.
And just as the first time she met Natasha, Maria feels like she has a family.

Haikyu!! Season 3
As always, my thoughts are under the cut.
OH MY GOSH I THINK THAT HAS TO BE MY FAVORITE SEASON YET!!! AAAAHHHHH!!!!!!
Okay. Okay. Breathing. Let me go over my thoughts.
Let’s start with the opening and ending. WOW!!!! This is definitely my favorite opening so far. It was so intense and so beautiful and it was the perfect representation of this season! That scene where Hinata is spiking and it turns into a crow flying with the sun in the background is just gorgeous and made my eyes teary <3 In the same vein, the ending is my favorite ending. I love how chill and laid-back it is, a much needed breather before jumping into the next episode or transitioning into doing something else. ALSO ALL THE BOYS ARE HERE!!! AAAHH! I was stoked to see all the teams we’ve played against with all their players! It made me so so happy! Two things in particular that I just could not get over every time I watched the ending credits (which was nearly every time, unless I needed that time to process or Netflix automatically skipped before I could tell it not to): 1. Nishinoya was flying. 2. OIKAWA. They did an AMAZING job on him because I could visualize him walking to the beat of the music just off of that one frozen pose. I could see his little nonchalant strut even though he wasn’t moving, and I was just continuously blown away by that.
Okay, moving on to the actual show itself.
LITTLE THINGS THAT I LOVED:
• OUR BOYS FINALLY GOT THE CHEERING SECTION THEY DESERVE!!! I nearly teared up at this. I’ve always been so upset that the other teams have all these people cheering for them and our boys don’t. Not that the people we do have aren’t doing a good job or aren’t special, because they are, but the boys deserve to have a cheering section just like everybody else. They’ve worked SO HARD. • I loved how all the boys had their own special high-fives with Kiyoko, Ukai, and Takeda! That was so sweet :) • TAKEDA GETTING THE RECOGNITION HE DESERVES! • Suga getting more and more unhinged • Daichi got to spike! • Saeko calling Hinata “Shoyo” • Suga, to Kageyama: *doing adorable little jumps* “If you’re exhausted I can switch with you at anytime!” • BABY SENIORS!!!! (I know they’re only first years there but shhhh) BABY SENIORS!!!!! AAAAAHHHH!!!! They’re so cute!!!! • SUGA CAN SPIKE!? HECK YEAH!!
NOT-SO-LITTLE THING THAT I LOVED:
Oikawa and Iwaizumi coming to see the match. Aside from the fact that they were both rocking their casual clothes, I loved their commentary on the game! Their analyses were really neat, and I loved getting to see them one more time, especially together! I love their dynamic. Also Oikawa shooing Iwaizumi out of the gym saying “I’d rather die than see the awards ceremony” made me cackle.
PEOPLE I WANT TO TALK ABOUT A LITTLE MORE IN-DEPTH:
Starting with…
Tumblr media
My boy <3 I will readily admit to being worried about him pretty much through the whole season. When he had trouble with that receive right at the end of episode 1 and I saw the look on his face, I started panicking. And then the above gif happened and I was overcome with relief, because that little smirk told me he was going to be fine. Except he kept struggling, and he was getting frustrated, and I kept worrying because A) He’s my favorite and I’m very emotionally attached, so watching him struggle (mentally) would’ve hurt (worse), and B) I knew that if he got stuck in his head there would’ve been no way we could’ve won. That’s not a dig at the rest of the team, and that’s not my favoritism talking. The team needs Noya to be on his A-game mentally and physically because he’s their safety net. I wasn’t sure what to make of his “the only one equal to Ushijima is me” at first, but then Tsukki agreed (and I think Ukai did too) and Noya reminded me that he can back up that claim. HIS SAVE IN EPISODE 9 WAS AMAZING!!!! I adore his relationships with the first years, but especially with Tsukki and Hinata. His dynamic with Tsukki really got to shine this season and I loved it!! And of course I’ll always love the shorty duo and the fact that Noya calls Hinata by his first name. Last thing I want to say before I move on: I said I was worried about him pretty much all throughout this season. Truth be told, I still am. You wanna know why? Because of this line right here from episode 5: “I can’t let us keep losing.” It immediately stood out to me and set off my alarm bells. He’s trying to carry the weight of the end results by himself. THAT’S SO MUCH PRESSURE! And I think the other part that concerns me is that it sounds so reminiscent of the line of thinking that eventually led to Asahi quitting after the match with Date Tech. Am I worried Noya will quit? No. Am I worried that he’s going to hit a wall and have a really hard time because he’s still putting so much pressure on himself? Absolutely. Time will tell, but I hope I’m wrong.
Tumblr media
I love Tanaka so so much. I don’t have very much to say but I wanted to talk about him a little bit. First: TANAKA GOT SOME AWESOME SPIKES IN!! He’d better be the ace after the seniors graduate! He’d be so good in that role! Second: A moment of appreciation for Tanaka getting smacked in the face with the ball, knocked to the floor, hopping up, and going “yeah I totally meant for that to happen, that was my plan all along!” Third, and the main thing I wanted to talk about: Tanaka and the first years. I love how even though he doesn’t have a biological younger sibling he is such an older brother. He loves being someone they can look up to and come to for help, he loves teasing them and messing with them, and he’s so proud of them when they succeed! His proud little smile when Ukai’s talking to Tsukki about being the mvp, him supporting Hinata during a block, his haiku! Even more than his relationship with the first years in general though, I love his relationship with Hinata and Kageyama. I love that in season 1 he basically looked at them and went “is anybody gonna adopt those two?” and ignored everyone who answered. I love that he’s the one who got them to Tokyo, how he ruffles Hinata’s hair, that he’s the one who got Kageyama to start high-fiving people. And I love how when all was said and done with this match, it was the two of them he hugged. I just love how much Tanaka loves, okay? He’s got such a big heart even if he hides it behind an attempt at an edgy exterior.
We interrupt our compilation of Karasuno focused thoughts to bring in the one character from Shiratorizawa I really want to talk about…
Tumblr media
Yep. That’s right. We’re gonna talk about Tendo. Okay, from the minute he appeared on screen something about his vibes and facial expressions made me incredibly uncomfortable. I disliked him on principle as a result. Him blocking Hinata and being smug irritated me, but more than anything at this point something about him just made uncomfortable. I can’t even tell you what it was because I don’t exactly know. Something in the way he carries himself and in the faces he makes. Then Yamaguchi finally got swapped in, and then immediately got swapped out, and Tendo sang a song about it deliberately loud enough for Yamaguchi to hear and THAT was it for me. No more “you’re irritating.” No more “you make me uncomfortable.” It was now 100% “I hate you.” I hated him more than I ever hated Oikawa (the only other character I used that word for). And then we got backstory on his past in volleyball. And I saw him being outcast because he was “the weird kid” and I guess maybe that kinda hit a little close to home even if it didn’t register as I was watching. Because I immediately felt sympathy for him and that combined with his dynamic with Ushijima was enough to change how I looked at him. Was I still mad about Yamaguchi? Yeah. But I couldn’t look at Tendo anymore without seeing someone who’d finally found his people and his place doing something he loves after being “the weird kid nobody wants to hang out with”. His dynamic with Ushijima, the fact that they’re actually friends?? So endearing. So yeah. I like Tendo now that I’ve gotten to know him!
Back to our regularly scheduled Karasuno…
Tumblr media
Tsukki.
He’s grown SO MUCH!!! AAAAAHHHH!!! I’M SO PROUD OF HIM!!!!!! Okay so first the entire “oh look, it’s the normal guy” “Hi I’m the normal guy” exchange was gold! And when Tendo was talking about how much Tsukki was irritating him and Tsukki’s just like “Thanks! :D” I kid you not it’s in my notes as being the thing that made me love Tsukki. Honestly the amount (6) of “YES TSUKKI, GET HIM!!!”s in my notes is self-explanatory to my thoughts. So I’ll talk about the other notes I made on him :) HE DID IT!!! HE BLOCKED!!! And he got to start leading the timing on the blocking and IT WORKED!!!! HE’S IN!!! HE’S FINALLY ALL IN!!!!!! AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!! Oh, I’m so proud!!! I love how when he got pulled out of the game he didn’t want to leave. He wanted to stay. He’s come so far from “it’s just a club” I think you should know that the only thing from episode 8 I found important enough to make a note about was, and I quote, “TSUKKI IS BACK!!!” And I LOVE how in episode 9 he went right to Ukai and was like basically like “Put me back in the game right now” but in Tsukki language. I love that Noya and Yamaguchi both ran straight for Tsukki after the win! And he didn’t really fight them on it! AND THEN UKAI CALLING HIM THE MVP!! AND TANAKA AGREEING!!!
Tsukki has changed so much and I absolutely love him now :)
Alright, post-win details I want to talk about:
• THE SENIORS HUGGING AND BREAKING DOWN TOGETHER!!! AH MY BOYS! <3 • Noya and Kageyama dragging Hinata to go line up XD • Yamaguchi yelling some sense into Tsukki!!! That made me so happy and so proud of Yamaguchi!! • SUGA GOT TO HOLD THE TROPHY!!!!
I loved this season SO SO MUCH!!! There’s more I could say, but I’d be here all day XD like last time, if there’s anything I didn’t talk about that you want my opinion on, feel free to ask!

Road to 4☆TOWN
part 1 | part 2 | part 3 | part 4 | part 5 | part 6 | part 7
Robaire checked his watch. “What’s taking him so long? We’ve been waiting for nearly twenty minutes.”
“Well it is his first Christmas away from home.” Z shrugged. “You have to imagine he’s not doing well.”
“Yeah well that’s no excuse to make me wait nearly half an hour to eat.” T crossed his arms. “I even skipped my 4:30 snack to have more room for this meal and he has the nerve to not show?”
Robaire sighed. “Fine, I’ll go up to his room and—”
“No.” Taeyoung interrupted as he stepped out of the corner. “I’ll go. I know how to talk to him.”
Robaire and Z exchanged a confused glance, but T pushed them both aside.
“Well hurry up, Tae-Tae! I’m practically withering away here.” T said.
Upstairs, Taeyoung found Jesse’s hotel room and unlocked it with the key. “Jesse?” He gingerly stepped into his room. “Can I turn on the light?”
“No.” Jesse answered quietly. “Just don’t trip on anything.”
Taeyoung carefully shuffled across the room until he bumped into the bed. “Everyone’s waiting for you downstairs, you know.” He sat on the bed. “They don’t wanna start without you.”
“Just tell them to go ahead. I don’t wanna go down there.” Jesse shook his head. “I just wanna be alone right now…”
Taeyoung was silent for a second. “It sucks being away from them. On Christmas especially. They’re the two most important people in your life, after all.”
“Three now.” Jesse buried his face in his pillow. “And that makes it so much harder.”
“I get it. I mean, I kinda do.” Taeyoung shrugged. “Back in ‘92, my parents had to go to Korea for a family related thing. They left me with T and his mom so I wouldn’t miss any school. They thought they’d be back on Christmas Eve, but there was a lot of snow so their flight was delayed.”
“Tae, are you trying to make me sadder?” Jesse turned to him. “Now all I can think of is a smaller version of you alone on Christmas. That’s depressing.”
“But that’s the thing. I wasn’t alone.” Taeyoung said. “I mean, I acted like it for a few hours, but then T and Catalina dragged me out of bed and made me celebrate with them.” He shrugged. “It sucked being away from my parents, but I still had my second family to cheer me up.” He smiled softly. “Can you let us do that for you?”
Jesse was quiet. “For a kid who likes to bite people, you’re impressively empathetic.” He said as he switched on the lamp by the bed.
“Okay first of all, YIKES. What happened to your eyes?” Taeyoung stared at him.
“Selina called me four separate times and I sobbed like a baby after each and every one of them. Hell, I’ll probably cry again after the next two calls.” Jesse said nonchalantly. “It’s whatever. You might be able to hold it together after a call with your family, but I’m just not that strong today.”
“After my call with…—OH.” Taeyoung nodded. “Right, my parents totally called me earlier. It was rough, but there’s nothing the good old security blanket can’t fix.” He started getting panicky. “S-Speaking of, can we go meet them downstairs? You know what an ass T can be when he’s hungry.”
Jesse chuckled as he got out of bed. “You’re right, we don’t want them to deal with the monster for long.” He gave Taeyoung a side hug. “Thanks for the talk, Tae. I needed that.”
“Yeah, mmhmm.” Taeyoung hummed nervously. “Now let’s go. I’m starving.”

Courts of Love and Hate. CH10
Nyx x Juniper (Tamlins daughter)
WC: 3166
Nyx
The morning passes slowly. After sleeping in we eat breakfast then lay on the floor, in what’s supposed to be a foyer, and make a list of everything we need to buy for the house. I can hardly stand not touching her at every possible opportunity so when another note from my parents arrives asking us to come over for dinner, I have every intention to tell them no and keep her all to myself.
Juniper has a different idea, though. Snatching the note from my hand, she jotted down a quick response, allowing it to disappear on its own.
“Juniper,” I groan.
“What? We’ve been in here for nearly three days; we should go have dinner with your family. Besides, it would be rude for us to go out shopping today and not at least stop by.”
I relent when she gives me that sultry smile of hers and leans in to kiss me again. I want to get distracted kissing her and bending her over the countertop but she pulls away after a few moments.
“Let's get dressed and go shopping.”
Out of the house within the hour, we head deep into the city to look at furniture. This is definitely Juniper's scene. Design is one of her favorite past times, her face just lights up when she finds furniture that will “bring the whole room together perfectly.”
I have absolutely no idea what she’s talking about but the happy expression on her face brings a smile to mine. We place several orders to have furniture delivered to the house and grab paint samples for a few of the rooms.
Then, before Juniper can drag me into another store, I pull her to a small restaurant with outdoor seating and force her into a chair. Within the minute someone is taking our order and rushing away to make it.
“This is really pretty.”
“Mmm,” I hum, “it’s not one of the ones on the Sidra, though. Those are the best restaurants in the city.”
“Really? They’re probably extra beautiful at night then.”
“Yeah. I can take you to one for dinner tonight,” I offer.
“And skip dinner with your parents?”
“I was hoping you’d forgotten.”
She just shakes her head in response, smiling as the waiter sets her plate of food down infront of her.
Hours later we fall into bed, virtually the only furniture in the house, and try to take a short nap but get distracted and end up more exhausted than before. It’s a rush to get ready for dinner with my parents and we still end up a little late. Juniper’s way more concerned about it than me.
“They’re gonna think I’m not punctual, or a flake.”
“No they won’t,” I sya, trying not to laugh at her unnecessary concern. “We never start dinner on time anyway. And they’ll be more than understanding since we’re newly mated.”
Her cheeks turn the most beautiful shade of pink, the same color as her rosy dress. “You look amazing, by the way,” I say, pulling her closer. “I don’t think I told you that yet.”
“You did. Several times actually.”
“Did i?”
She just rolls her eyes which then go wide as I pull us to a stop in front of the River House.
“Woah.”
“Do you like it?”
“It’s beautiful,” she says, openly gawking.
“Be sure to tell my mom. She designed it.”
“Really?”
“Mhmm, she’s an artist. She designed and decorated just about everything. The garden’s my aunt's doing, though.”
We walk up to the house and the door swings open before we’re even five feet away. Juniper’s obviously still anxious besides me so I grip her hand in mine and resist the urge to punch my smirking uncle in the face where he stands in the doorway.
“I thought it would just be dinner with your parents,” Juniper whispers in my ear.
“No, it’s Sunday: family dinner night.”
“Oh.”
“Don’t worry, it’s probably easier this way,” I say, kissing her forehead before returning my attention to the door. “Uncle Cassian. Any particular reason for blocking the doorway tonight?”
“I was thinking about letting the creatures outside,” he jokes.
“What did I tell you about referring to the children as animals?” Aunt Nesta says, smacking him upside the head as she walks by.
He just rubs the back of it, smiling widely, and moves to the side for us to walk in. My three youngest cousins run by screaming as soon as we step in. One’s Cas and Nesta’s second and the other two are Uncle Azriel’s and his wife’s, all ranging four to eight years old.
I pull Juniper toward the sitting room, ignoring the creatures, and search out the only other person close to our age- Nesta and Cassian’s other daughter, Lenny.
We saw her briefly during the wedding, but I’m eager for her and Juniper to get to know each other more. “Lenny. You remember Juniper, yeah?”
“Was I supposed to forget your sudden arranged marriage?” She raises her brows at me and stands from her seat, gently setting her book to the side.
“He again,” Juniper says from my side. “If I recall correctly you’re Nyx’s closest friend and cousin.”
“Yep, and I used to be his closest confidant too, but it seems he moved on once I moved out to the steeps.”
“The steeps?”
“Illyrian Steeps,” I say. “My Dad offered her a chance to run one of the camps when she turned eighteen last year. She’s there more often than here now.”
“Yeah, I’m only here for a whole week so that those idiots can realize they’re barely surviving without me.”
Juniper
I smile, immediately deciding I like Lenny. I barely saw her during the wedding, but being able to talk to her I realize we have a lot in common.
I especially enjoy when she tells funny stories about Nyx and he turns beet red from embarrassment. I’m certain he’s grateful when his mother calls us all into the other room for dinner.
We file into the dining room with a large oak table running through it, to find everyone already seated, pulling out chairs, or struggling to get children to hold still. The only seats with placements in front of them remaining are two at the closer end and, to my surprise, the seat at the head of the table.
“I suppose I’ll leave the two of you then,” Lenny says and walks to the end.
“If we have an even amount of people then no one really sits there, but there's thirteen of us tonight,” Nyx says, answering one of my many silent questions.
“Speaking of,” Cassian starts, “should we be worried? Isn’t thirteen a bad omen?”
“Oh, shut up, Cassian,” the woman I recognize as his wife says.
Nyx pulls out the end seat for me and takes the one between it and one of his younger cousins. “Hi!” The child nearly shouts, leaning forward to look around Nyx. “I’m Baz. I wasn’t allowed to go to the wedding.”
“Oh,” I say, “nice to meet you, I’m Juniper.”
“Yeah, I know. Everyone’s been talking about you,” the Eight year old says.
My cheeks burn in the awkward silence that follows and I have no idea what to say. A few long seconds pass.
“What have they been saying?”
“Oh, all sorts of things,” he says, beaming. “Aunt Feyre said you were very pretty and kind, and mommy said you and Nyx would be a good pair, but Aunt Mor said you can’t be trusted and this is the worst thing to happen. She’s not here because she's mad at everyone.”
There are another few seconds of silence, a few of the adults noticeably cringe and I can feel Nyx’s rage boiling beside me.
Baz continues, probably trying to change the mood, “Uncle Cas said we probably wouldn’t see you for a month because Nyx would be busy fucking you,” he shrugs after laying that detail out there, “whatever that means.”
“You said that in front of my child?” Azriel yells across the table at the other male.
Nyx grips his fork tightly, staring daggers at his uncle, while tiny blue flames lick to life in his hair.
“Nyx,” I murmur his name and rest a hand on his arm. He calms down after a few seconds, but the shouting between the adults continues.
“This is relatively normal for family dinners,” Nyx says, deciding to ignore everyone and scoop food onto my plate.
“Are you upset now, Juniper? Mama said I might have upset you.”
I turn to the faeling, who I’m already starting to like, with a smile. “No, I’m not upset.”
“Good, then we should be friends.”
The yelling settles down after a few minutes and conversations continue between smaller groups of everyone. At first anyway. After a little while, everyone gives up on trying to mind their own business and I’m dragged into almost every conversation.
Feyre asks about my childhood and siblings. Cassian wants to know if I’ve trained at all but when I say I haven’t and don’t really have an interest in being a warrior he becomes almost completely bored of me. Nyx said not to think anything of it.
The shadowsinger is silent through most of the meal but all of Nyx’s aunts have questions about one thing or another. You like to read? What books? Adventure.  Do you ever write?I love to. What flowers did you see the most in the spring court? Just about every kind depending on where you are. Do you like to cook or bake? Not really. What music do you like?
Minutes passed like this before Nyx took some of my food and forced me to eat, then not so subtly, told everyone to stop talking to me while I ate.
My favorite part of the evening was talking to Nyx’s cousins, it was then too that I realized how much I love kids. I had to make a mental note to ask Nyx if he wanted any, later, while mildly panicking about the prospect of him not wanting them.
On the way home I’m practically buzzing with anxiety, no longer able to keep the question of whether or not Nyx wants kids in the back of my mind. The possibilities race through me until Nyx stops in front of the house and turns to me with a look of concern in his eyes that practically forces me to confess my thoughts.
“Tell me what’s bothering you. I know my family can be a lot, but I figured after you jumped past the quote bombs Baz passes you could handle anything,” Nyx says, rubbing up and down my arms.
“It’s not that,” I say, remembering what their Aunt Mor had apparently said, “but I do want to talk to you about some of that later.” Nyx just nods in response, already knowing which part I’m referring to. “I was just wondering- We hadn’t talked about whether-” I struggle for a long few moments, not knowing how to phrase this. I’m usually so good with words.
“Go on, love. You can ask anything.”
“Do you want kids?” I blurt the question out, glad it’s finally done but kind of wanting to take it back.
A smile spreads slowly across Nyx’s face. “Yeah, Juniper, I want kids. Do you?”
I nod, biting my lip, relieved to have his answer.
“Right now?”
Shocked at the thought, my eyes widen and I take an actual step away from Nyx. “Mother above, no.”
Nyx laughs suddenly at my response and I can feel his humor down the bond, it warms me from the inside out as he grabs my hand and gently pulls me toward the door of our home.
Five months later
Nyx
Waking, I roll over and reach out a hand for my wife, but find an empty bed instead. I blink my eyes open, noting that the sheets aren’t cold yet, but not warm enough for her to just be in the bathroom.
I groan as I sit up, wishing she were by my side. I climb out of bed, not bothering to pull pants on, and amble down the hall to the stairs. Before I arrive her frustrated sounds fill the silence. She must be trying to put some more of the furniture together.
Most of it’s been sitting in boxes for the past couple of months, neither of us wanting to do anything but lay in bed.
“I was planning on hiring someone to finally put those together,” I say, when I finally get to the top of the stairs, and lean against the banister in all my naked glory.
She doesn’t look up. “Yeah, but I was bored and you were sleeping so I figured I’d try.”
“I’m not sleeping now,” I say, smirking. “And there are a few activities I’ll never complain about being woken for.”
Junipers cheeks pinkin and she starts to chastise me as she looks up but the words never make it out. Her gaze immediately catches on my half hard cock and she turns an even darker shade.
“Come back to bed,” I say, my cock hardening faster the more she looks at it.
“Why don’t you make me?” Her tone is laced with humor and her eyes sparkle, but before I can retort or grab her the front door of our town house swings open.
In half a second I’m standing protectively in front of her, weapons in my hands as my uncles fill my foyer.
“What the hell are you doing here?” I snap.
“Why are you naked?” Cas asks.
“This is my house!” I yell, moving one of my long daggers to cover my cock.
“He has a point.” Az.
“We came to get you for training,” Uncle Cas says, smiling broadly, “but I guess you had a different form of cardio in mind.”
I clench my jaw, wishing they would leave. “How’d you get in? The door was locked.”
“Your parents have a spare key for emergencies,” Az says as if that explains everything.
“Yeah, I know.”
“We stole it!” Cas practically cheers, eyes lighting up.
Even Uncle Az smiles a little. “Stealing from your dad isn’t easy. It took us a while.”
“You must be exhausted from all the hard work, then,” Juniper says sarcastically over my shoulder, smiling as widely as my uncles. “We can have coffee in the kitchen while Nyx gets dressed.”
I winnow upstairs, quickly putting on clothes. Juniper laughs downstairs at something one of my uncles said, and the smell of coffee is already floating through the house.
In a matter of seconds I’m downstairs again, standing in the kitchen as Uncle Cas pours milk into his coffee and Uncle Az looks on, cringing at the sight and sipping his black.
“Why the hell are you guys still here?” I grumble.
“We’re hanging out with your wife, obviously,” Cas says, smiling. Winning my family over has practically become a hobby for Juniper and she’s extremely good at it; they all love her. Even Mor is coming around.
I roll my eyes at my uncles and reach for the pot of coffee as they continue their conversation.
“What are you two up to today?” Azriel asks.
“I’m meeting with someone from the theater to potentially work as one of their writers!” Juniper announces excitedly, just the sound of her bubbling excitement makes me grin, happy she’s happy.
“We’ll all come to the opening night of your first production,” Az promises as Cas nods enthusiastically.
“That’s if I get hired.”
“You’re a good writer, Juniper, they’ll hire you.”
“You’ve read some of her writing, Az?” I ask.
“Mhmm,”he says around a mouth full of food.
“He likes to read, you know? I figured he’d be a less biased reader than you.”
I roll my eyes, knowing full well I’m terrible at giving my mate proper criticism. My uncles leave soon after that when Dad shows up, hitting them over the head for taking his key. He makes a promise to come to dinner tonight, having something important to tell the family, and leaves soon after too.
The rest of the day is uneventful, but something in my stomach stirs, wondering what news my parents have. A part of me already knows and that feeling in my gut is unease or maybe guilt.
Juniper
I hold Nyx’s hand loosely in mine as he swings the door to the River House open, the sounds of his rambunctious cousins greeting us. My smile instantly grows as Baz runs up to hug me and, not to covertly, checks my wrist to ensure I’m still wearing my friendship bracelet. He has several different bracelets crawling up his arms, all for different friends, and everyone in the room has one too.
He pulls me away from Nyx to talk and play with the other kids and I find myself wondering how long I do want to wait for kids. The thought of having them right away all those months ago felt outrageous, but being near these kids makes my hormones crazy.
Nyx seems to pick up on this and smirks wickedly from across the room. Thankfully Feyre interrupts moments later, calling us all in for dinner, so my mate can’t send any of her dirty thoughts down the bond.
The entire meal goes smoothly but I can feel Nyx’s anxiety as he sits by my side. It’s radiating off of him and his parents are far from oblivious to it too. They don’t make an announcement during the meal, though, but Nyx and I both pick up on the fact that the Highlady isn’t drinking wine.
I grip his hand as we move to the sitting room and Feyre smiles broadly, grabbing everyone’s attention as her and Rhys remain standing. Rhys clears his throat, everyone goes quiet. “I’m pregnant,” Feyre says simply.
No one in the room is surprised and though we’re all happy we all know what this really means.
“It’s still early, but Madja thinks the baby’s a girl.”
The kids seem thrilled, the only people in the room saying anything for a long moment, before a few of their friends get up to congratulate them. Nyx remains, frozen beside me, though, even as we stand, and I wonder if he’s wishing he could take back what we did now that it’s real.
“This is good news,” Rhys says, smiling and gripping Nyx’s shoulder. “Your mother and I made this choice, Nyx, not you,” he reassures and low enough for only the two of us to hear.
Nyx relaxes slightly after that, hugging his mom for a long moment before returning to my side.
“This is good news,” I whisper into his ear, trying to convince him or myself, I don’t know.
We go home hours later, the peaceful bubble we’ve been living in for the last several months popped by the consequences of our actions.
There are defiantly going to be edits made to this story, but for now I just wanted to post it. Also, eventually, I’ll post a story about the other half of the deal between their courts, as well as a story around Junipers other sibling!

To anyone who has been watching me flail and gnash my teeth over the past year as I write a monstrously long fanfic and maybe thought to themselves, ‘Damn, should I watch Lucifer so I know what she’s talking about?’
My answer is, NO! Bestie, I cannot, with a clear conscience, recommend the TV show Lucifer to anyone who knows me here on Tumblr. Now, if you want to learn how to utilize parallels in story telling? Then, absolutely! Lucifer is a MASTERCLASS in utilizing parallels, both visually and narratively. A++
But otherwise, you will have to do your own soul-searching and research to decide if Lucifer is worth your time. Because if I recommend Lucifer to you, then you’re going to start with episode 1 like a normal person and then you’re going to hate me because IT’S GARBAGE!
Oh, but Amber, all pilots are rough. I can just stick with it. — No, you misunderstand me. The pilot is FANTASTIC. It’s HYSTERICAL. But only if you know how the series ends. If this is your first introduction to the characters? It’s awful! I don’t know how anyone ever watched any part of S1 (except maybe the finale because the kidnapped child trope is chef’s kiss) and thought “OMG yes please, more of this”.
And I know what you’re going to say: Parks and Recreation. BUT THIS IS NOT THE SAME THING! You can absolutely skip S1 of Parks and Rec and never, ever go back and watch it, and you would be fine. You wouldn’t miss a goddamn thing.
You absolutely have to watch S1 of Lucifer. This is not a case of ‘oh the writers haven’t figured out these characters yet’. NOPE! This is 100% who these characters are at the start of their journey together. It’s crucial to understanding and appreciating their full character arcs. But it’s the start of their journey together and if they’re not a jackass (Lucifer, Dan) or sex-crazed* (Linda, babe WHAT was that), then they’re boring (Amenadiel and YEAH I’LL SAY IT Chloe^). Yes, Maze is hot, and toothless, 7 year old Trixie can do no wrong (bless that child) — BUT YOU CAN’T STICK WITH A SHOW FOR TWO CHARACTERS WHO ARE BARELY IN IT!+
[* — I don’t want to slut-shame. I am merely too aspec to relate. Also for a show about the Devil with a queer protagonist and more than one queer supporting character, Lucifer is WAY too Het (tm), but especially in S1]
[^ — Credit where credit is due: Chloe’s backstory of being a child actress who did a nude scene in a movie when she was 19 is FASCINATING. I love it because it is soooo outside of my comfort zone. I never in a million years would’ve made a character with that backstory, and for that reason, I love it.]
[+ — Watching a show for a character who’s barely in it is exactly something I’ve done in the past. It’s probably something we’ve all done at one time or another, but it’s not a sustainable business model for production companies, okay? You can’t always rely on the gays to do the work for you!]
You know what you get out of S1 if you wait to watch it last? (with spoilers — but honestly, it makes the show better. That’s my entire point in this post!)
Shouting at your screen 8.5 minutes in when the writers telegraph the end game goal of the show
General questioning where all the blue tones came from o_O (They liked ~filters~ in S1)
Having your mind goddamn BLOWN when you learn Chloe and Dan were still actually married at the start of the show. Like, WHAT?! No, I’m sorry… WHAT?!!
The horror that you were always going to feel now mixed with hysterical laughter as Linda is WAY too horny and WAY too susceptible to Lucifer’s desire power
“Did my father send you?” — DYING! DEAD! DECEASED!
Absolutely not being able to take Amenadiel seriously even for a second. Everytime you look up at his stony expression, you fall out of your chair laughing all over again
Tumblr media
[^Amenadiel, I'm so sorry, but this does not intimidate me. I know you too well now.]
AND THAT’S JUST THE PILOT! You keep watching and you get to see Maze meet little Trixie for the first time (adorbs <3). You get to watch Maze meet Dan for the first time and IT’S SO GODDAMN FUCKING FUNNY I AM NOT EVEN JOKING! Like, if you can make it that far into the show by watching from the beginning, then it’s still funny. But TRUST ME! It’s way better once you know they’re besties and have seen Maze sob over an N*Sync shirt. I’M CRACKING UP JUST THINKING ABOUT IT!
Tumblr media
You also get to watch Lucifer’s struggle with mortality/vulnerability already knowing how it works (already knowing how all of his powers work). Chloe says, “Oh, I want to shoot you so bad.” And you’re shouting YES, PLEASE! DO IT! DO IT! And it’s not because you’re hate-watching the show, it’s because you know he’ll bleed when she does and LUCIFER DOESN’T KNOW THAT YET! Malcolm’s about to shoot him episodes later and you’re yelling again DO IT! DO IT!!!! Because Chloe’s no where around this time and Lucifer won’t bleed but he doesn’t know that either! (And then you groan in disappointment when Malcolm walks away without shooting — and then you cheer when two seconds later the villain of the episode shows up and shoots Lucifer instead! \0/ It’s SO satisfying!)
What I’m saying is, Season 1 is incredible… but only if you add dramatic irony to it. If you’re as clueless as the characters? Then, god help you, because I wouldn’t have made it past Linda jumping Lucifer’s bones in her office during the pilot. I just wouldn’t have.
Further caveats:
If you want to watch solely for Maze/Eve — DON’T! My girl Eve is barely in the show after her S4 introduction, and she’s dating Lucifer for the majority of that season. Like Maze/Eve are incredible and perfect and integral to Maze’s overall character arc. You get to see them get married and they have such gems like “You broke my heart” / “Really? :D That’s awesome!” and “I don’t care if you die.” / “:’) That’s the most romantic thing anyone’s ever said to me.” — LIKE BABES, THEY’RE GORGEOUS! I just wouldn’t watch 6 seasons of a show for like 1.5 seasons total of B-storyline content. I don’t think that’s really worth it but your scales may differ.
Tumblr media
Now if you want to watch solely for Tricia Helfer…. FAIR! THAT’S FAIR! I’m pretty sure she’s what got me sucked in. Technically, that’s probably not worth it either because she’s only a regular for S2 and 3 and then guest stars in a couple of S5b episodes — but then again, IMDB confirms she was in 47 of the 93 episodes while Eve was only in 14 (FOURTEEN??? :O What do you mean?? Wasn’t she in like most of S4????? JFC no wonder it seems like she’s never around T_T) So yeah, Tricia Helfer might be worth it! She’s fabulous as both Lucifer’s mom and as Charlotte Richards! Love her!
Tumblr media
Season 3 is both the longest and the WORST season no matter when you watch it. Unless you have some deep-seated nostalgia for Smallville, you’re going to be miserable during this season and there’s absolutely no way I can make it better for you. I am so sorry. It’s horribly paced. It has a narratively useful characterization backslide with NO TRIGGER POINT so it therefore doesn’t actually flow with the narrative after all. It has too many filler episodes which for this show, does actually ruin the pacing, and includes two miscellaneous episodes that have nothing to do with anything slotted AFTER a very massive, huge finale cliffhanger! (WHY???? @ Fox execs, PLEASE EXPLAIN!!!!!) They completely fucked up the character foil I assume they were intending because there’s no way you intended that to be a face value parallel. I refuse to accept that. And that’s before whatever the fuck their goal was with the Chloe/Pierce romance. IT WAS SO BADLY DONE IT MAKES ME RAGE!
But also we got Chloe and Linda drunkenly taking over Lucifer’s penthouse when he was out of town, and the finale scene of Lucifer shielding Chloe with his wings as they’re getting shot at which makes me FERAL, so it’s not all bad.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Lucifer shielding Chloe with his wings, I might have an unexplored obsession with angels that is clouding my judgement of this show. :S Okay, years ago I read a Supercat AU where Kara was the devil and I was enthralled but anything else I found featuring angels just wasn’t the vibe. And then I found Lucifer and got hooked. So IDK! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not to be dramatic too but i think day is going to be fully blind after the songkhla ep or maybe still at songkhla and it’s probably why the hospital scene happened and also there is a scene where you can see day’s mom and night at the rooftop. It’s going to be so sad, I’m so sure ㅠㅠ
SPECULATIONS AND PERSONAL FEARS ABOUT THE LAST FOUR EPISODES OF LAST TWILIGHT UNDER THE CUT
sorry anon im gonna take this chance to vent a little about my worries ;;;;; there are no spoilers about the ending of the novel but there are SPOILERS about future content since im gonna reference some moments we’ve seen during filming and that have not happened yet. PLEASE DON’T READ THIS IF YOU DON’T WANNA WORRY ABOUT THE ENDING OF THE SHOW. i swear im gonna be back on being positive and manifesting the best possible ending after this, but i’ve been very anxious and i need to talk about it, so yeah, i really apologize for this
the thing is. im like 99.9999999% sure that the last scene of episode 9 is gonna be day going fully blind. jimmysea have talked multiple times about this episode being their favorite and the fact that the scene on the cover of the novel is extremely important, so im pretty sure mork is gonna take day on the top of the mountain and while they’re looking at the sun going down mork is gonna ask ‘have you done everything you want?’ to which day is gonna answer, like in the mock trailer, ‘one last picture left’. he’s gonna look at mork, kiss him, and then, when day opens his eyes again, he will no longer be able to see anything
and i am completely fine with this. is it gonna be sad? yes, because it’s still a huge loss, but we’ve seen day coming to terms with it and learning that he can still live a very fulfilling life, so we know he’s gonna be alright, especially with mork by his side. it’s the afterwards that im TERRIFIED about. and again, im sure mork and day are gonna have a happy ending, all those theories about mork or night dying and donating their corneas to day are (respectfully) completely unrealistic, they're never gonna happen, but it's the way that we're gonna get to that happy ending that scares me
like two things i think will have to happen in the last three episodes:
a reconciliation between day and night;
mork is gonna have to stop being day’s caretaker.
what we know is gonna happen thanks to the bts during the filming process is also that:
at some point there’s gonna be a hospital scene (it could also be a flashback, but im not sold on this theory);
there’s gonna be a time skip of 4 years and morkday are gonna be attending another wedding (most likely night and phorjai’s).
my main fear is not only that they’re gonna let day regain his sight, but also that they’re gonna separate mork and day for those 4 years just for the sake of drama. and i don’t like separations. i don’t like the episode 11 curse, i don’t like cheap manufactured angst, i don’t even like the ‘these characters have to be separated to find themselves before they can be together’ trope. the only show that did separation right was vice versa and i will die on this hill. when it comes to last twilight, i don’t really believe the theory of day’s mom firing mork and being the one to separate them, because i think that deep down all she wants is to see her child happy and if mork makes him happy then she’s gonna accept him. my nightmare scenario is that someone is gonna offer mork a job, mork is gonna refuse the offer so he can stay with day, day is gonna find out and think that 1) he’s holding mork back, and 2) mork thinks day can’t take care of himself just like everybody else, so he’s gonna break up with mork. timeskip. they reunite at night and phorjai’s wedding and they get back together
and i, unfortunately, would HATE this
and i swear im trying so hard to trust p’aof but i’ve already partaken in unprecedented unparalleled unmatched levels of winnery with vice versa and my brain is refusing to believe it could happen a second time so it’s preparing for the worse
so yeah not to be overdramatic but im on the verge ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

Altered - Angels and Devils 11
Author: Akira
Characters: Eichi, Tsumugi, Rei
Translator: Mika Enstars
"You’re really butterin’ me up, arne’tcha? Hmm~… I scared the shit outta you which sent you to the infirmary, so I do want to apologize for that."
Season: Spring
Location: Yumenosaki Academy Infirmary
⚠️ This is an import from a unproofed Twitter Livetweet!
Tumblr media
Eichi: …Tsumugi, Tsumugi.
Tsumugi: Ah, yes, what’s wrong, Eichi-kun? Do you need more water?
Eichi: I’m good on water, what I mean is—
I wonder if right now is a good time for that.
Tsumugi: Hm? Ah~… Right, right, what we talked about then?
Tumblr media
Rei: What, what is it? You talkn’ ‘bout something interesting? You guys look like you’re havin’ fun by yourselves, can’t I join in?
Eichi: Fufu, well, actually, Tsumugi and I have formed an idol unit named fine. Although, while it exists on paper, we haven’t been active much.
We were thinking of making the unveiling performance for our unit to be as spectacular as possible.
Rei: Hmm? Well arent’cha guys motivated? Very good, very good! ♪
It’s pretty rare for people in our academy to properly do idol activities. As someone who skips school and messes around, I’m not one to talk, though.
Tsumugi: Don’t you properly do activities too, though? You sing rock at a live house in the neighborhood.
Rei: I do that just for fun, though. Just a distraction from boredom.
It’s not that I’m not serious about it just ‘cuz its for fun. But although I do that stuff as a hobby, I more or less still haven’t done much proper idol work, y’know?
Eichi: Then, this might be a good time.
Actually, we’ve been wanting to invite you Five Eccentrics to be guests for our debut live.
Rei: Five eccentrics?
Ahh, ahhh right~, we’re being called something like that, aren’t we?
Eichi: You’re that little aware of it? Well, it can’t be helped. People’ve just started calling you guys that of their own accord—
It’s not like you five are forming a unit or anything.
Rei: Yeah. We’re bein’ grouped together as the Five Eccentrics, but they’re all people I’ve barely talked to.
Each of ’em are all seem like real interestin’ people, but the Five Eccentrics all put themselves before others, myself included.
We each do whatever the hell we want, we rarely even meet face to face~, y’know?
Tsumugi: And you’re always flying around the world doing all sorts of work to start with, Rei-kun.
Rei: Someone like me’ll start feelin’ cramped if kept in a small space.
Eichi: I see. So that’s what the Five Eccentrics are like with each other. Less like friends, and more like acquaintances…
Rei: I wanna be friends with them, I feel like we could be. Just haven’t had the “opportunity” yet.
Eichi: How about using this live as an opportunity, then?
Rei: Us with your, ermmm, fine? Ya want us to liven up your performance with ya, that right?
Well, it’s true that doin’ joint live work together would deepen our bond, but…
I wonder if they’d even be down to assemble… All of ’em aren’t ones to lift a finger for others, they’re all pretty self-servin’.
Eichi: That’s where I was hoping you’d be able to persuade them, Sakuma-senpai.
If it’s great Sakuma Rei asking, one can’t help but agree no matter how selfish you are, right?
Rei: You’re really butterin’ me up, arne’tcha? Hmm~… I scared the shit outta you which sent you to the infirmary, so I do want to apologize for that.
But frankly, it’s a hassle, so what’s in it for us?
Tsumugi: (Right, It’s only natural he’d ask that, I’d been wondering the same.)
(Eichi’d been talking about the idea of inviting the Five Eccentrics to fine’s debut live for quite some time now, but…)
(What is he looking to go with all this? fine’s nothing but a disorderly crowd right now, newly formed and disorganized.)
(And with the exception of Hiyori-kun and Nagisa-kun, our abilities are greatly inferior when put beside the Five Eccentrics.)
(If the Five Eccentrics perform at our huge debut performance, they’ll just steal all the audience’s attention—We’d just be devoured completely, wouldn’t we?)
(Eichi-kun must have something in mind, but… Hmm, I can’t figure out what it could be.)
Eichi: Anyways, would you be able to do me that favor? Of course, I can pay any price needed.
Rei: Hm~ I’m weak when I’m asked to do somethin’…
Well, I’ll try talkin’ to the other of the Five Eccentrics at the very least. But don’t get your hopes up.
People may be lumpin’ us together, but truth is, we Five Eccentrics are more separate pieces than we are not.
We’re commended as the top five geniuses in Yumenosaki, but… The reality, however, is that they’re far from it. The Five Eccentrics are just problem children who’ve strayed from the path.
You won’t hear me sayin’ that about myself, though.
